Trump answers question on whether he'll try to run again
President Donald Trump answered Tuesday whether he would try to campaign for the White House a fourth time around.During a phone interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box," Trump was discussing Bureau of Labor Statistics job numbers that he argues were "rigged" during the 2024 presidential election to inflate former President Joe Biden's economic performance. While discussing gerrymandering, Trump said he "got the highest vote in the history of Texas" a claim CNBC anchorman Joe Kernen initially challenged but then admitted a network fact-check showed Trump did get the highest number of votes in Texas."I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, a record that they say won't be beaten unless I run again," Trump said.TRUMP CONFIRMS 2 NUCLEAR SUBMARINES ARE 'IN THE REGION' TO COUNTER RUSSIACNBC anchorwoman Rebecca Quick interjected, "Are you going to run again? The Constitution""No, probably not," Trump responded. "Probably not.""And you're not going to, and you're not going to fire Jay Powell," Kernen added, referencing tensions between Trump and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.Trump circled back to address Quick directly: "I'd like to run," Trump told the anchorwoman. "I have the best poll numbers I've ever had. You know why. Because people love the tariffs, and they love the trade deals, and they love that countries they love that foreign countries aren't ripping us off. For years, they ripped us. A friend, and foe and a friend. And the friends were worse."The 22nd amendment of the U.S. Constitution says a person can be elected president only twice. If someone takes over as president as a vice president would due to death or resignation and serves more than two years in that term, the amendment states that person can only be elected president once more. It effectively sets a maximum of 10 years for any person to serve as commander-in-chief.TRUMP GOES AFTER SCHUMER: TELL HIM 'GO TO HELL'George Washington set the tradition of stepping down as president after two terms, but the amendment came about in response to Franklin D. Roosevelts unprecedented four terms. Roosevelt served during the Great Depression and World War II.Trump earlier this year both teased and distanced himself from the idea of a third term, as some conservative circles have floated changing the 22nd amendment to allow an exception for nonconsecutive presidencies. Before Trump, the last and only other president to serve two nonconsecutive terms was Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s.In May, Trump said he considered it a "compliment" that "so many people" wanted him to run in 2028 but said it was not something he was interested in pursuing."I have never had requests so strong as that. But it's something to the best of my knowledge, you're not allowed to do," Trump told MSNBC's Kristen Welker. "There are many people selling the 2028 hat, but this is not something I'm looking to do. I'm looking to having four great years, and turn it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican. A great Republican to carry it forward. But I think we're going to have four years, and four years is plenty of time to do something really spectacular."Trump said he believed the MAGA movement could survive without him, floating Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential successors.

Witkoff scrambles for peace deal with Russia as sanctions loom targeting India, China
White House envoy Steve Witkoff is preparing for a trip to Russia on Wednesday, two days ahead of President Donald Trumps Aug. 8 deadline for Moscow to enter into a ceasefire or face stiff sanctions. But the escalated deadline, which Trump cut by nearly a month last week after first issuing Russian President Vladimir Putin a 50-day deadline in mid-July, has done little to curb the Kremlins violence in Ukraine. If a peace deal is not reached by Friday, Putins chief commodity will become the primary target as the U.S. will begin 100% sanctions on nations that purchase Russian oil in a move to dissuade them from fueling Russias economy, and by extension, its war chest.CHINA, INDIA FUEL RUSSIA WAR MACHINE BY IGNORING INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS: REPORTBut even with the threat of possibly lower oil sales to nations like India and China, which are the worlds top purchasers of Russian oil, reports on Tuesday suggested that Witkoffs last-ditch effort to talk peace with Putin is not expected to make much, if any, headway.A report by Reuters said that not only is little expected from Witkoff's efforts, but Putin is also undeterred by Trumps threat of secondary sanctions.Trump on Tuesday told CNBC that he planned to raise the current 25% tariffs on India "very substantially" within the next 24 hours."They're fueling the war machine, and if they're going to do that, then I'm not going to be happy," he said.Given that Trump has already said he plans to hit any nation that trades with Moscow with 100% secondary sanctions, it is unclear if he still plans to hit both India and China with trading fines this high.Neither the White House nor the Treasury Department returned Fox News Digitals questions regarding the unclear looming tariff rates. But India has pushed back on the tariffs, calling them "unjustified and unreasonable."HOW TRUMP COULD UN-UNITE THE XI-PUTIN ALLIANCEIn a statement on Monday, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's foreign ministry, said following Russias invasion and subsequent Western boycotts of Russian oil, the U.S. allegedly encouraged India to import Russian gas "for strengthening global energy markets stability."But it is not just financial aid that India is accused of being involved in when it comes to Russias war in Ukraine.Ukraine on Tuesday said it had found "Indian-made components in Russian attack drones including the Shahed/Geran models.""Russia must be denied access to foreign-made parts that enable these weapons and the killing of Ukrainians," Andriy Yermak, presidential chief of staff, said on X.These drones have infamously been used to not only hit military points along the front lines in Ukraine, but have routinely targeted Ukrainian civilians, including in a series of overnight strikes."Last night, the Russians launched a ballistic missile and nearly 50 UAVs against Ukraine, most of them Russian-Iranian shaheds,'" Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday. "Many drones were shot down by our defenders, but unfortunately, there were hits."Zelenskyy confirmed that one person was killed and 10 were injured, including two children, after 25 shahed drones pounded the city of Lozova in the Kharkiv region. The Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and Sumy regions were also struck, and two others were apparently injured."Once again, the Russian army is hunting civilians in an attempt to terrorize frontline cities and communities," Zelenskyy said.Despite concerns that sanctions could have little effect on Putins war ambitions, Zelenskyy argued they could "contribute" to ending the war."The world now sees that sanctions against Russia, and secondary sanctions against all those who help it profiteer from oil, can work if they are strong enough," he said. "Therefore, pressure must be increased, and this will undoubtedly contribute to peace."Fox News Digital could not immediately reach the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., or Witkoff's team for comment.

Jim Acosta blasted on social media after 'interviewing' AI avatar of Parkland shooting victim
Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta was slammed on social media after he posted a clip of his "interview" with an artificially animated avatar of deceased teenager Joaquin Oliver to promote a gun control message on Monday.Working with the gun control group Change the Ref, founded by Oliver's parents, Acosta had a conversation on his Substack with an avatar created by the father of the son, who was killed in the Parkland high school shooting in 2018. Oliver would have turned 25 on Monday.Social media users were shocked by Acosta's "grotesque" interview and slammed the journalist for using the deceased teen's avatar for political content."Youre interviewing an AI recreation of a person who was murdered by a spree killer?" one Bluesky user questioned. "Wow. Its hard to accept that no one around you suggested that this was probably in the worst possible taste."WHITE HOUSE CONDEMNS JIM ACOSTA AS 'DISGRACEFUL HUMAN BEING' AFTER HE JOKES ABOUT TRUMP'S DEAD EX-WIFEAnother Bluesky user slammed Acosta for promoting the conversation as a "one-of-a-kind interview" with Oliver, but instead spoke with the deceased teen's computer-generated avatar."'Ill have a one-of-a-kind interview with Joaquin Oliver' no you won't, you're talking to a glorified answering machine message you dingbat," the user asserted.Other users on the liberal social media site were also critical of Acosta calling the conversation with the teen's avatar an "interview," with one user labeling the conversation a "grotesque puppet show."CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MEDIA AND CULTURE NEWS"You don't have an interview. You're facilitating a grotesque puppet show, using grieving parent's heartbreak for a bit," the Bluesky user stated. "The bar is in hell, and you still managed to trip on it."On X, Acosta disabled users that weren't followed by him from commenting on his posts, which some users on the social media site linked to the backlash he was receiving from the "interview" with Oliver.Stephen L. Miller, a conservative political commentator, noted Acosta's decision to block his posts from comments, and slammed the journalist for his "ghoulish act of talking to AI ghosts."Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra also weighed in on Acosta's "interview," noting on X that the journalist's post seemed to have "crossed the line for everyone" on Bluesky.Conservative outlet Townhall called out Acosta's "DISTURBING" conversation with Oliver's avatar and stated that the "interview" raises "HUGE" ethical questions about journalism. The Federalist's Sean Davis called Acosta's "interview" with the teen's avatar "demonic" and criticized the journalist for conversing with "scripted AI chatbot holograms of dead people."Acosta replied to Reason's Robby Soave, who had called the interview "insane and evil," by noting again he'd been approached by Oliver's father. The liberal journalist left CNN in January and moved to Substack, where he's continued to give progressive commentary and provide a friendly outlet for liberal guests.

GOP showdown: South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson accuses Rep. Nancy Mace of 'ranting and raving'
EXCLUSIVE As she launched her campaign for South Carolina governor, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace took aim at what she called "weak leadership" in the state. The statement from Mace, which was reported first by Fox News Digital on Monday, appeared to be a subtle dig at the state's Republican leaders, including longtime South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is a top rival for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.Mace and Wilson are considered the front-runners in a crowded GOP primary field in the 2026 race to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Henry McMaster, who is the Palmetto State's longest-serving governor.Wilson, in an exclusive national interview with Fox News Digital a couple of hours after Mace announced her candidacy, argued that "Mace has been ranting and raving for the last six months about running for governor without actually saying it."REPUBLICAN FIREBRAND NANCY MACE JUMPS INTO CROWDED SOUTH CAROLINA RACE FOR GOVERNORMace told Fox News a week and a half ago, ahead of her campaign launch, "I will fight to the finish, and I will take out South Carolina's Attorney General, because he's turned a blind eye on women and on children and on the state for a lot of reasons. He might force me to do this."Mace, in a bombshell speech on the U.S. House floor in February, alleged that Wilson ignored evidence of sexual assault against her and other women. In her hour-long speech, Mace accused four men, including her ex-fiance, of sexual crimes and said she was among the victims.HOUSE FREEDOM CAUCUS MEMBER RALPH NORMAN ANNOUNCES BID FOR SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNORWilson vehemently denied Mace's accusations, saying at the time "that allegation was never made to me no one in my office."Wilson, in a recent statement to Fox News, argued that "Mace is a liar who will do anything to get attention to distract from her liberal voting record. Ive served our country and dedicated my civilian career to protecting children."And pointing to Mace, Wilson said on Monday that "its obvious to me that she thinks about me more than I think about her. Ive been very busy doing my job here in South Carolina and I really dont pay that much attention to this person.""Im not running against anybody," he added. "Im running for the people of South Carolina."Wilson said as he campaigns for governor, he's "trying to have a message that is uplifting, a message that is aspiration, and Im trying to demonstrate to the people of South Carolina that I have a record of accomplishment, a record of success and I would be a stable hand on the wheel of South Carolina."And in what appeared to be a jab at Mace, he added, "I believe that you can be an agent of change and reform for our state without being an agent of chaos."Wilson showcased what he called his "real record of accomplishment, supporting and defending victims of crime in South Carolina as well as going after public officials who commit corrupt acts."And pointing to an issue that Mace regularly spotlights, Wilson said "when it comes to standing up to women and girls in sports and protecting women in private spaces, Im the only candidate whos been in court defending South Carolinas laws."Mace kicked off her gubernatorial campaign with an event at Charleston's Citadel, which is South Carolina's military college and her alma mater. Mace made history as the first female graduate of the Citadel's Corps of Cadets. But Wilson, in his Fox News Digital interview, highlighted his long military career."The governor of South Carolina is the commander-in-chief of the South Carolina National Guard," he noted. "Ive got nearly 30 years in the military. I have served a combat tour in Iraq. Im currently a colonel in the national guard. And Im the only person in this race with real combat experience."And pointing to his support from law enforcement, Wilson said that he's been endorsed by 26 sheriffs across the state, including all five in Mace's congressional district in South Carolina's Lowcountry.Wilson said his priorities as governor would be "focusing on reforming our education system, investing in our infrastructure, getting rid of fraud, waste and abuse, eliminating the income tax, and being more accountable to the people of South Carolina will be my priorities."Mace and Wilson are facing off in the Republican gubernatorial primary along with Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, Rep. Ralph Norman, and state Sen. Josh Kimbrell.President Donald Trump remains neutral so far in the primary. Trump's grip over the GOP, thanks to his 2024 victory to win back the White House, is stronger than ever, and his endorsements in GOP nomination races are extremely influential.Asked if she could land the president's endorsement, Mace told Fox News Digital recently that "I'll be working very hard if I get in to earn his support."And in her campaign launch video, Mace used clips of Trump calling her a "fighter" in a speech, and adding that "when she sets her sight on something, she's tough."But Wilson emphasized he's "supported President Trump as attorney general since his first termI have defended the president in court. I have defended his agenda in court. I have a great relationship with the president."Wilson added, "I intend to earn his endorsement and earn his support the way he has earned mine. And Ive had his back for the last eight or nine years."

Devils Den witnesses describe suspects death stare minutes before murders: report
A couple who visited Devils Den State Park on the day of a double murder at the state park claimed they received a "death stare" from the suspect accused of murdering a couple who had taken their two daughters to the state park.Tony Brueski, host of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, told NewsNation that two witnesses said they encountered a man matching the description of the suspect, 28-year-old Andrew James McGann, just minutes before the attack."The couple was together with a brother and sister and a pet dog, and down the trail, they saw a man coming their way, and they immediately found him to be odd," Brueski told the outlet.ARKANSAS HIKING MURDERS: TIMELINE REVEALS TEACHER SUSPECTS ROUTE FROM CLASSROOM TO COURTROOMIn the interview, the couple said the man was dressed entirely in black and carrying a large mesh-style athletic bag."That was very out of place," they said of the interaction, Brueski said. They described the interaction as deeply unsettling, saying he gave them what they called a "death stare"and"bad energy."VIDEO SHOWS ARKANSAS HIKING MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED MID-HAIRCUTThe couple said they later recognized the man in photos released by authorities identifying McGann as the suspect in the July 26 killings of Clinton Brink, 43, and his wife, Cristen Brink, 41.Along with the couple who believe they saw the suspect, others said they saw the mans car had duct tape over the license plate on his vehicle. Brueski told NewsNation that he believes that this was a planned attack."Based on the dress of the man who was in there with the backpack, he seemed very prepared," Brueski said.Authoriites have pushed back against the possibility that the Brinks' family was targeted, with ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar announced in a Thursday news conference that investigators found no indication the daughters were targeted."It appears to be a completely random event," Hagar said. "We have no reason to believe there was any known association between our suspect and our victims."The Brinks were murdered while hiking with their two young girls aged 7 and 9 on Saturday, July 26. Arkansas State Police said that they died from stab wounds. A knife was confirmed as the murder weapon. The couple's two children were not hurt and are being cared for by family members, authorities said.Hagar noted that McGann sustained "injuries" during the attack. The blood found at the scene helped authorities find the suspect, they said.Hagar said that McGann confessed to the crime and that DNA evidence confirmed his involvement."Although everyone is innocent until proven guilty, we did confirm this morning that the suspect's DNA is a positive match to the DNA recovered at the crime scene," Hagar said. "During an interview with investigators, the suspect admitted to committing the murders. We also executed a search warrant at his residence and recovered items consistent with the crime."MANHUNT INTENSIFIES FOR ARKANSAS SUSPECT LIKELY INJURED IN FATAL ATTACK OF COUPLEWATCH THE ARREST:McGann, the ASP said, was arrested at a barbershop in Springdale at 4:57 p.m. Wednesday. Officials said that McGann was in the midst of a haircut when ASP officers tracked down the fugitive following the lethal attack on Saturday.McGann was charged with two counts of capital murder. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14. Fox News Digital has reached out to the ASP for comment.Devils Den is located about 140 miles northwest of Little Rock. Netherlands becomes first NATO ally to buy US weapons for Ukraine
The Netherlands will become the first European state to provide cash to purchase U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine, under a plan agreed to by President Donald Trump and NATO chief Mark Rutte.Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced Monday his nation will contribute 500 million ($576 million) to a fund called the NATO Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative.Brekelmans said the funding would go toward Patriot systems and missiles, a mobile surface-to-air interceptor.Developed in the 1980s and still considered one of the U.S.s most advanced air defense systems, the Patriot can thwart attacks from aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.TRUMP'S NATO DEAL TO ARM UKRAINE WINS OVER GOP SKEPTICSA new Patriot system and the missiles to go along with it could cost around $1.1 billion, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The newest version of the missile costs around $4 million a piece.Last month during a White House meeting with Rutte, Trump promised Europe would spend "billions" on U.S. weapons to arm Ukraine."Billions of dollars worth of military equipment is going to be purchased from the United States, going to NATO And thats going to be quickly distributed to the battlefield," Trump said.TRUMP, RUTTE ANNOUNCE 'REALLY BIG' NATO ARMS PACKAGE AMID NEW 50 DAY DEADLINEUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Netherlands for the funding on X."Ukraine, and thus the whole of Europe, will be better protected from Russian terror," he wrote."I am sincerely grateful to the Netherlands for their substantial contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air shield," he added.Rutte also thanked the Netherlands and encouraged other European NATO allies to follow suit."This is about getting Ukraine the equipment it urgently needs now to defend itself against Russian aggression," he said in a statement."I have written to all NATO Allies, urging them to contribute towards this burden-sharing initiative, and I expect further significant announcements from other Allies soon."The Netherlands has emerged as one of Ukraines top defense donors, committing close to 3 billion in military aid since the start of Russias full-scale invasion in 2022. Dutch support has included tanks, F-16 training, and now, contributions toward strategic air defense platforms like the Patriot. The new Trump-NATO agreement came after Republicans expressed frustration with the nearly $128 billion in aid the U.S. has offered to Ukraine, arguing Europe should take up the burden. At the same time, Trump has increasingly grown impatient with Russian President Vladimir Putin during peace negotiations.White House envoy Steve Witkoff is set to head to Moscow this week before the deadline Trump gave Putin for ending the war. The president has threatened to slap steep tariffs on Russia and any nations that do business with it if this weeks negotiations fail to produce a deal.
