Stop overwhelming your to do list and try scheduling one hour each day to do your Spring cleaning using one of the below options and in a matter of days you will find that the term Spring cleaning no longer overwhelms you.One Hour A Day options:Option #1: One room per hour Create a Spring-cleaning schedule assigning one room per day. Some of those chores may include washing the windows, dusting your home from top to bottom, dusting baseboards, thoroughly cleaning your appliances, vacuuming including under furniture etc. Schedule one chore per day and spend one hour working on that chore going from room to room. Some chores may take more than one day, you may want to schedule two days for those chores.Option #3: Family Hour Get the whole family involved in the Spring cleaning process. Make a list of chores that other family members can assist in, then schedule multiple Spring cleaning days assigning family members one hour each of chores. Be sure to assign age appropriate chores, this is a great opportunity to begin teaching younger children how to clean. 10 Habits Of An Organized Kid
by: Trisha NovotnyAfter another morning of chaos missing shoes, forgotten jackets and piles of laundry strewn across my childrens bathroom floor brought me I to the conclusion that it was time to begin modeling and molding my children to become organized walking beings. I believe some children are born natural organizers and others are free for alls but each of us can become organized to bring calm to the chaos of life in a family.I have created a list of 10 habits of an organized kid that once you begin implementing these into your childrens daily lives you will soon find the calmness you once knew during your pre-kid life.Habit #1 Schedules Establish daily routines with your children so that they know what is expected from when to wake-up to when to go to bed. Including everything from homework to doing their chores. Teaching them the habit of keeping schedules.Habit #2 To Do Lists Create daily check off lists for each of your children that include all of the things they need to be reminded to do. This will teach them to be responsible for their own to do lists and you will no longer be asking Did you? multiple times each day. Teaching them the habit of creating to do lists.Habit #3 Balancing Time Hang a family calendar in your home so that your children can look at it and know what activities they have each day as well as look ahead. One suggestion is to use a different colored marker for each child s so they can easily see what they have going on ach day. Teaching them the habit of balancing their time.Habit #4 Remembering Do your kids constantly forget things- homework left at school, lunch boxes left at home etc? Teach them to create reminders for them selves by using sticky notes or systems that help them to remember. For example if your child forgets his homework at school then come up with a plan that as soon as he is done writing in his daily school planner he places it all in his backpack not waiting for the end if the day when all they can think about is heading home to play. Creating reminder systems teachers your kids the habit for remembering.Habit #5 Organization You cannot expect your kids to put things away unless you create a place for it. What is it that seems to never get put away or you are constantly finding shoved into a drawer or closet because it does not have a home. Create places for all of your childrens belongings so that they can then keep their things organized. Teaching your kids the habit of organization.Habit #6 De-Clutter Twice a year take time with your children to teach them to sort and de-clutter their belongings from clothes to toys into four categories: keeping, giving away, selling or garbage. This will teach them the habit of de-cluttering. For additional de-clutter tips click hereHabit #7 Clean Homes Make a habit each evening to have your children do a walk thru the house picking up any belongings they have left out and putting them back in their places. Teaching the habit of keeping a clean home.Habit #8 Study Time Assist your children in creating homework station where they can do their daily homework .Be sure to stock it with extra school supplies. Decide together on a time they will do their homework each day. Teaching them the habit of a daily study time.Habit #9 Preparing- Train your children to prepare for their day the night before by packing their lunches, cleaning out and re-filling their backpacks, placing their shoes by the door and checking the family calendar. Also have them prepare for after school activities by packing what they will need into a sports bag, including snacks, sports equipment, water bottles, etc. Teaching them the habit of Preparing.Habit #10- Team Work Hold a weekly family to bring your family together and provide an opportunity for family discussion, decision-making and keeping everyone in the know. Family meetings can also used to dream, set goals and talk about what each family member has on their schedules and to-do lists. Teaching them the habit of Teamwork. The post 10 Habits Of An Organized Kid appeared first on 24/7 Moms.

Check off Your To-Do List in 10 Minutes
I am what I like to call the mom-planner. I am the mom who thrives on order, schedules, systems, and control. Maye a little controlalright, a lot of control! I like to know what is happening in my day. I like to plan and look ahead to see what my day is going to be like.Recently, I had to come to grips with the fact that my house is entirely full right now. There are ten of us in our home right now on family lockdown during this pandemic. Any moment it feels like the house is going to explode into a chaotic mess between the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and so much more. Then there is the never-ending to-do list I have. You have one of those too, right? I know Im not the only one with a list like this, moms. How do we get it all done? How do we manage to squeeze it into everything else?10-Minute ProjectA while ago I discovered something, I like to call the 10-minute project. I figured out that I could squeeze in just 10-minute projects throughout my day when I had those random of 10 minutes during my day where I was waiting for something else to finish. Sometimes I was waiting 10 minutes for the laundry to finish or dinner to come out of the oven.Even before our family lockdown, I found myself waiting around 10 minutes before the kids came out of school. When I was busy during the day, I still had a spare 10 minutes where I was waiting on something else.If you are someone who has a busy schedule, you can always put these 10-minute projects into your day. Maybe its before you go to bed or right after you put the kids to bed. You take 10 minutes to start checking off your to-do-list.Be OrganizedIf you want to check off your to-do list in 10 minutes you need to be organized. You have to be proactive with your time when you get those spare 10 minutes throughout your day. Here is how you can get started:Set aside some time and look at your to-do list.Write it out if you dont have it written out. Write everything on your to-do list that you want to get done, the things you need to get done, and dream about getting done.Get a second piece of paper and look at all the things on there that you know you can do in 10 minutes or less.Once you have your list, keep it in a place thats convenient and easy for you to look at referring to when you have that free time.Use Your TimerDo you have a bigger project thats more than 10 minutes? You can break it down into 10-minute tasks.Use a timer and set it for 10 minutes and work on the bigger project. When the timer goes off quit what you are doing and go back to what else you need to get done for the day. Then go back to the bigger project when you have another 10 minutes, whether it is later that day or the next day.Heres How to Get StartedTo help you get started, I came up with 26 different tasks you can complete within 10 minutes or less. What are some 10-minute projects you have on your to-do list? Share with us in the comments. Id love to hear them! The post Check off Your To-Do List in 10 Minutes appeared first on 24/7 Moms.

    Time Blocking Your Day
I love finding ways to simplify my life, whether its the latest organization trick or a new quick and easy family dinner meal. I am always looking for ways to make my mom journey simpler. And I love sharing my latest ways to help simplify your mom journey too!You might have heard that multitasking is impossible to do. But let me give you a hint, its only partially true!We moms find all different ways to do our day-to-day tasks at the same time while we accomplish something else. While making dinner I would help the kids with their homework. When I needed to pay bills, I put my kids in the shower and let them play while I paid the bills. However, when it comes to true things in our worlds that need our entire focus it is impossible to multitask. When it comes to important things like this, I use the time blocking system. I create space for focus time and organize.Today I want to share with you how to time block your day and bring the chaos under control in your life. No matter what season of motherhood you are in, time blocking can work for you!Why Time Blocking?I know how quickly our mom days can fly by. They quickly can be filled with distractions. You begin to start your day but then you forget to pull out the meat for dinner that night. Then you remember you need to make appointments for the kids to get their teeth clean, but then your child interrupts you with something they need. One after the other it keeps piling on, and then you realize you were doing a million other things and you havent even gotten to your to-do list for the day.Mom life is certainly a whirlwind of to-do and chaos all mixed up!The goal behind time blocking is being more intentional about what we spend our time on throughout the day. It helps you avoid those distractions, but when they do come our way you can easily get back on track. Time blocking helps you accomplish your to-do list, whether its your weekly or daily one. When Friday comes and you look back at your week, you will be amazed about how much you have accomplished!Time blocking will help you accomplish your goals, check off the things on your to-do list, and finding time for things that matter most. What is Time Blocking?Time blocking is scheduling your day in chunks of time. It allows you to a certain amount of time to focus on one or more tasks you need to accomplish. You can choose how many time blocks a day you need to organize your world and how long each one needs to be. Some people time block their day by the hour or for a couple hours and group similar tasks together. For example, I have a morning time block that I like to do from 6:00 9:30 AM. During this time, I like to get ready, get the kids ready to go, prepare for dinner, and workout. Then from 9:30 12:30 AM I focus on working, such as writing, answering business emails, and creating content.Your time blocks might not be the same every day. No day might be identical. If you have daily commitments, your kids activities, and more then your time blocking will look different most likely. How Do You Start?IT all depends on how detailed you want to get. You can detail your schedule out into smaller time blocks or larger chunks with a variety of things. You can always time block specific parts of your day where you know you will focus on your goals. Here is how you can get started:Grab your calendar, your to-do list, and any other list that you use to schedule and organize your mom world. Make sure you get a pen too!Download the free printables I created to help you get started. Ive made three printables for you that you can download by clicking on the links below!Weekly To-Do ListMoms Daily ScheduleTodays PlanWatch the video below to help you get started and how to use these free printables to start time blocking. Some Tips to Help YouHere are a few tips that have helped me with getting started with time blocking.1. Use Your PhoneSet alarms on your phone to let you know it is time to move to the next time block. You can always set it a few minutes early to give you a heads up that your time block is ending.2. Dont Overfill Your Time BlockMake sure you dont overfill your time block with more than you actually accomplish during that time block. You can easily become frustrated this way.3. Adjust Time Blocks as NecessaryYou can make adjustments to your time block if needed. For example, you might not need to run errands during the time block you made for errands. You can fill that time block with something else, perhaps another thing on your to-do list or connecting with a family member or friend.4. Schedule in You-Time, Down-Time, and Fun-TimeMake sure you schedule in You-Time, Down-time, and Fun-Time! Its easy to get ourselves overwhelmed with everything we need to do, but we moms also need those me-times. Taking time for yourself, whether its just downtime or fun-time can really help us get back on track and focus on our other time blocks of the day. You even are more motivated after taking some time for yourself!5. If You Dont FinishIf you are finding yourself running out of time during that time block and dont finish everything, you can possibly move it over to the next time block. This is especially important if anything is time-sensitive and needs to be finished that day.Remember the goal is to accomplish the most in your day at the same time to simplify your day so you feel like you have more time for you and your family. Time blocking needs to be fluid, which means you can adjust it and change it according to how your day or week might look like. The post Time Blocking Your Day appeared first on 24/7 Moms.
