A Minnesota State lawmaker told her colleagues on Monday that she is in the U.S. illegally, as is her family, and have been since fleeing Vietnam after the Vietnam War.Rep. Kaohly Vang Her attended a special session of the Minnesota Legislature convened by Gov. Tim Walz on Monday, where lawmakers were debating about modifying MinnesotaCare eligibility for undocumented adult immigrants. While arguments were being made, Her used the opportunity to share the story of how she arrived in the U.S., telling her colleagues that she is an illegal immigrant. Her said she has been spending a lot of time with her father, who brought the family to the U.S. at the end of the Vietnam War. At one point, she asked her father how he brought the family to the U.S.COLOMBIAN WOMAN CHARGED WITH ILLEGALLY VOTING IN 2024 ELECTION STEALING $400,000 IN TAXPAYER FUNDED BENEFITSShe previously believed that her family was granted entry into the U.S. because her grandfather was a colonel in the war. But her father told her that was not true. Her father worked for the U.S. Consulate, Her said, and was one of the few there who could speak English and type "really fast."Her said her father had moved to the consulate away from the refugee camp she, her mother and sisters lived at, and his job was to process all the paperwork for the refugees who came to America.PROPOSED BILL WOULD REQUIRE LAW ENFORCEMENT IN BLUE STATE TO COOPERATE WITH ICE: 'A LINE OF COMMUNICATION'While working at the U.S. Consulate, Hers family missed their opportunity to go to the U.S. three times, and there was one more time that they could attempt to go to the U.S.Her told her mother they must have been lucky, but her mom said it was not luck."We did not have our names on that list to come to the U.S.," Her said, explaining that there was no priority for children of someone who worked for the CIA. "The only people that had names to come to the U.S. were if you were in the military and you worked for the CIA or worked for USAID."Hers parents worked for a Christian organization, which also did not count. But they were able to find a way by fudging the paperwork, to get to the U.S.SHAMEFUL: LEGAL IMMIGRANTS FACE UPHILL BATTLE AMID ONGOING BORDER CRISIS"What my father did was, one of our uncles worked for USAID, and because his mother had died, my father, as the one processing the paperwork, put my grandmother down as his mother," Her said. "And so, I am illegal in this country. My parents are illegal here in this country. And when we were fleeing that situation, never one time did my family say, Lets look at which state has the greatest welfare and which state has the greatest benefits, because thats the state were going to go to.""Nobody leaves their country unless they have to leave that country," she added. Her told the room of lawmakers she shared the story because she wanted them to think about who they are calling illegal immigrants.Hers family was "smarter" in how they came to the U.S., she said, although they broke the laws to get into the country."I never knew that," she said. "I just learned that now. So, when youre thinking about voting no on this bill, youre voting no against someone like me who paid more into this country than it has ever given to me, that the blood of my grandfather, who died for democracy, that he never received benefits being in this country, and yet he paid taxes his entire life into it."Hers office did not respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment on the matter.Still, Her asked her colleagues to give everyone the same opportunity her family had, however they got to the U.S."They didnt want to leave where they were," she said. "We are not looking to what state is going to give us the best benefits. Were looking to just be alive."

US Marines to deploy to Los Angeles to help quell anti-ICE riots
    www.foxnews.com
A battalion of 500 U.S. Marines are mobilizing to Los Angeles to respond to anti-immigration enforcement riots, Fox News has learned. The Marines will be tasked with protecting federal property and federal personnel, according to a senior defense official, and the deployment is open-ended.The Marines will not be carrying out a law enforcement role, but its unclear what their use of force rules are if protesters throw things or spit at them.DOZENS OF ANTI-ICE RIOTERS ARRESTED IN LA AS TRUMP SENDS IN NATIONAL GUARD TO QUELL VIOLENCEThe new deployment comes after President Donald Trump sent some 2,000 National Guardsmen to the riot-racked city over the weekend. The Marines are from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California.Moments before the deployment, Trump expressed optimism that the situation in Los Angeles is improving."I mean, I think we have it very well under control," he told reporters. "I think it would have been a very bad situation. It was heading in the wrong direction. It's now heading in the right direction."The Marine mobilization is sure to draw outcry from liberal critics: California Gov. Gavin Newsom filed suit against the Trump administration on Monday for deploying the Guard. The governors office both downplayed the troop movement and called it "completely uncalled for.""From our understanding, this is moving Marines from one base to another base. At this time, the information we have is that Marines are not being deployed (there is a difference between that and being mobilized). The level of escalation is completely unwarranted, uncalled for, and unprecedented mobilizing the best in class branch of the U.S. military against its own citizens," Newsoms press office wrote on X.Newsom and the California attorney general claimed Trump and Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth "trampled over" Californias sovereignty by calling up the states National Guard without Newsoms approval.Meanwhile Trump defended the decision on Monday, and added that if protesters spit in the face of guardsmen in Los Angeles, they'll "be hit harder than they have ever been hit before.""IF THEY SPIT, WE WILL HIT," Trump wrote. "Such disrespect will not be tolerated!"Federal law typically bars the U.S. military from carrying out domestic law enforcement purposes, unless the president invokes the Insurrection Act.Newsom claimed Trump is trying to "manufacture a crisis" and that the president is "hoping for chaos so he can justify more crackdowns, more fear, more control."The protests began in reaction to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in the City of Angels as the Trump administration moves to make good on its promise of mass deportations. Over the weekend, protests devolved into violence that left vehicles charred to a crisp and windows smashed at the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters.

Ex-NFL receiver Golden Tate details how Jalen Ramsey's treatment of his pregnant sister led to fight
    www.foxnews.com
For the first time since their on-field clash in 2020, former NFL receiver Golden Tate gave more insight into his public feud with current Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.Tate made an appearance on the "Bussin with the Boys" podcast, where he told co-hosts Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, former NFL players themselves, about what led to him and Ramsey getting into an altercation on the field in 2020.Tate was playing for the New York Giants in what would be his final NFL season after 11 years, when they were slated to face Ramsey and the Los Angeles Rams.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMFor context, Ramsey had previously dated one of Tates twin sisters, and their relationship ended when she was pregnant with their second child."Now things happened within that relationship where I dont think my sister was done or treated the way she should have been treated," Tate said on the podcast. "And when that happens, who you gotta come see? You gotta come see big bro."GIANTS' OTA SESSION ENDS EARLY AFTER MULTIPLE FIGHTS ERUPT: 'HEAT GOT TO US'The feud began to heat up when Tate responded to a fan who tweeted at him in October 2019 after a picture of Ramsey and his new girlfriend went public. The fan wrote, "If I was @ShowtimeTate I would have words with this young fella," in reference to Ramsey."He know he gonna have to see me," Tate said.Well, that meeting was on an NFL field when the Giants traveled to Los Angeles to face the Rams. Tate said he and Ramsey began going back and forth almost immediately."We get out there, and right away, first one, hes overly jamming me, and Im like, OK, this is how were going to do," Tate said." What I do, I cannot cost my team a penalty or cost myself any money, so thats in my back pocket. Im not going to do that because thats selfish, but Im in his face, Im talking my mess, he talking his mess."It was a low-scoring game between the Giants and Rams, but the latter came away victorious, 17-9. However, the tension boiled over completely after the game when Tate approached Ramsey.Ramsey swung at Tate and a physical altercation ensued with both teams getting involved to break it up."The game ends. I run up there to expect it, whats going to happen? And he come find me Im seeing where he at. I went right up to him with my helmet on, and he swings, but I knew he was going to swing, so I duck, and I went to dump him, and the next thing you know, they had everybody on us, so they separated us," Tate recalled of the moment.Ramsey has talked about that fight in the past during his "The Pivot" podcast appearance in 2022."On sight, we knew what we was gonna do," he said. "I mean thats his sister, thats what he supposed to do, too. But you mind your business, too. This is me, too, now."Five years later, Tate and Ramsey never reconciled, but they put their differences aside for the kids."We havent talked, but I think we both kind of have agreed to not be knuckleheads for the betterment of his daughters and my nieces, and thats kind of where we stand," Tate said.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Riley Gaines talks public's reaction to Simone Biles' personal attack: 'Almost feel bad for her'
    www.foxnews.com
Riley Gaines suggested on Monday in a radio interview that she was stunned by the publics response to Simone Biles personal attack against her.The Olympic great launched into Gaines with a post responding to the former NCAA swimmer criticizing Minnesota softball officials for turning comments off of a post celebrating a high schools state championship win with a transgender player on the team.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMBiles called Gaines "truly sick" among other things. But the social media reaction didnt appear to get behind the gold medalist."To acknowledge how the public has shifted to this, look at Simone Biles' comments section, go on Instagram, go on Twitter, go on any article thats being posted, go on TikTok and she is getting absolutely demolished to the point where I almost feel bad for her, like I really do," Gaines said on "Clay & Buck.""I have read these comments, I'm like, oh my gosh. I was prepared when I got that notification on my phone for that onslaught of hatred to come towards me. I was like, Oh gosh, shes gonna send all of her little minion people who follow her over to my page. That is not at all what is happening. I havent heard a single negative comment about myself following this interaction."SIMONE BILES DOESN'T REALIZE WHAT SHE'S ADMITTING ABOUT TRANS WOMEN IN HER POSTS, RILEY GAINES SAYSGaines pointed out the recent spate of transgender athletes winning championships in girls sports across the country."Minnesota, California, Washington, Oregon and Maine, where boys stole state qualifying spots, state championships or podium spots from deserving, hard-working girls," the OutKick contributor added. "So, the whole 'it doesn't really happen' argument, it can't stand at all when it continues to happen."But thats the classic progression. It never really happened that was step one. Then it slowly shifts to, 'OK, well, it is happening, but it's not happening a lot, therefore we shouldn't be concerned.' Then it progresses to, 'OK, well, it's happening, and here's why it's a good thing.' And then the final stage of it is, 'it's happening, it's a good thing, and you're going to accept it or else."Gaines revealed the support her stance on transgender athletes in womens and girls sports received in various comments sections during an episode of the "Gaines for Girls" podcast.Biles has not reacted since her first post toward Gaines on Friday.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Riley Gaines says Simone Biles 'sold out' young female athletes in heated debate over transgender sports
    www.foxnews.com
Former 12-time NCAA all-American swimmer Riley Gaines is speaking out about her X feud with Olympic gymnast Simone Biles over transgender athletes competing in womens sports. The social media argument began on Friday after Gaines called out a Minnesota high school, whose softball team won a state championship after playing with a transgender pitcher. Gaines, who noted that she was not surprised comments were turned off on the high schools post, said, "to be expected when your star player is a boy."Simone Biles rebuked Gaines, saying she was "truly sick" and a "sore loser" for her comment, suggesting she should be "uplifting" transgender athletes. Biles also said Gaines should "bully someone (her) own size, which would ironically be a male."SIMONE BILES DOESN'T REALIZE WHAT SHE'S ADMITTING ABOUT TRANS WOMEN IN HER POSTS, RILEY GAINES SAYS"Friday afternoon, I get a notification on my phone," Gaines told "The Will Cain Show" on Monday. "It says, Simone Biles tagged you in something on X.' I was overwhelmed with excitement. Like, this is someone I've looked up to. She's a role model for me. [I] was so excited about this until I clicked on the notification and, of course, I had to read it like five times... make sure it wasn't a fake profile.... It has been the talk of X, really all social platforms, TikTok, Instagram, every article that has been posted. I believe she truthfully incinerated her legacy with just two tweets this past weekend."The swimmer says that while Biles comments on her appearance did not hurt her feelings, she felt heartbroken thinking of young gymnasts, like her teen sister, who has looked up to the Olympic champion."That's the people who look up to Simone. That's the platform that she's built and curated and developed. Those people love her," she said. "They admire her and suddenly, again, in one tweet, and I would imagine an aim to be virtuous and inclusive and kind and compassionate, she sold out people like my younger sister. That's how I felt. That's what made me feel heartbroken."Several of Simone Biles teammates have reached out to Gaines amid the X debate to share their personal support for the swimmers stance, she shared with Fox News."They believe the intention behind this is that Simone has a new docu-series coming out on Netflix," Gaines told Fox News. "They believe it's an attempt to put her name, her profile, her face, her image back in the public sphere, but again, I think this ultimately backfired on her."Ultimately, Gaines says standing up for womens sports is not a divisive issue among everyday Americans."This isn't a polarizing issue if you can remove yourself from the opinions of the elite. The people who are on the private jets, if you remove yourself from the opinion of Hollywood or elected representation, this truthfully is not a polarizing, divisive issue. It's a unifying issue."

North Carolina great Rashad McCants dishes on the NBA Finals, Michael Jordan, Bill Belichick and more
    www.foxnews.com
Rashad McCants is a former McDonald's All-American who continued his basketball career at the University of North Carolina, where he established himself as one of the Tar Heels' all-time greats, winning a National Championship in 2005 and twice being named an All-American. His collegiate success led to him being selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft, 14th overall.Following an NBA career that saw him average 10 points per game between stops in Minnesota and Sacramento, McCants became the first-ever pick in Ice Cube's Big3 league. His team won the league's inaugural championship and McCants was named championship game MVP.On Monday, McCants, who previously wrote a book on the exploitation of student athletes - Plantation Eduction: The Exploitation of the Modern-Day Athlete-Student, joined OutKick exclusively on Monday to talk NBA Finals, Bill Belichick's fit at UNC, playing alongside Kevin Garnett, the NCAA Transfer Portal and more.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMAnthony Farris: With the NBA Finals currently tied at one game a piece between Oklahoma City and Indiana, who do you have coming out as the eventual winner and in how many games?Rashad McCants: I have Indiana in seven (games) because (head coach) Rick Carlisle's not going to allow certain things to happen where (the Pacers) don't have an opportunity to win, like you saw in Game One. I think OKC's lack of experience will have them put in situations where they'll compromise games and I think that alone will allow Indiana to creep in. And the (Indiana) fanbase can propel a new story to the front of the tabloids instead of OKC doing so by having the MVP (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander).Farris: If you're starting a team today, do you do so with SGA or Tyrese Haliburton?McCants: There's preference on what type of team you want to build. But right now, if I'm a winner, and I want a team with chemistry, I'm gonna pick Haliburton because he distributes the ball. He shares the sugar, makes sure everyone gets involved. And he's not afraid to take the last shot. That has nothing to do with Shai, it just has everything to do with the advantages of Haliburton being a team-oriented guy.THUNDER STRIKE BACK AS SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER DOMINATES GAME 2 TO EVEN NBA FINALS AGAINST PACERSFarris: You played your first two NBA seasons with Kevin Garnett on the Timberwolves. What was that experience like?McCants: My experience with him was completely different than everyone else's because I got to see the raw element of who he is in downtime when he's not wearing the mask and he's not performing. A lot of people can say through their experiences, "this is how he is," "this is how he's that." But if he hasn't let you through the door to let you see who he is, you'd see that he's just a fun dude. He likes to do everything that everyone else likes to do, but he's very competitive, very intense and very funny. So if you get past a lot of those little areas where he can scare you or intimidate you, you'll find that he's just a funny ass dude that's cool as hellFarris: As hard a worker as everyone says?McCants: Absolutely. He understands the dynamics of details similar to Kobe. I think having Kev as my mentor and vet, felt like I had Kobe Bryant as the same type of guy. I knew they were cut from the same type of cloth, both being my heroes. It was not a drop-off at all when it came to competitiveness, details, footwork, all of those things.Farris: You played against Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Arenas, others. Who was the best you played against during your NBA career?McCants: Kobe Bryant was the best. I was a big student of his. But when it comes down to just talent..it's hard to guard a chess master. (He was) like Bobby Fischer. He was just one of those guys you had to prepare two-to-three days ahead for. Outside of him, probably Vince Carter.Just that era period. You talk about shooting guards and small forwards, from Paul Pierce to Tracy McGrady to Ray Allen to Dwyane Wade to Michael Redd, we had to see a lot of (star) guys, so it's hard to just pinpoint one or two guys. But then again, it's actually really, really easy because there was one guy that was better than all of those guys - Kobe.Farris: Switching over to college athletics, what are your thoughts on the transfer portal? Do you think it's a good thing?McCants: Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, there's just no structure to it. I think it can be a good thing if it's done right and if kids are not entitled to just show up and do nothing and demand things. There has to be a contractual obligation. For you to get this money, you've gotta show up and go to practice, you've got to be attentive. There are things now: boundaries, restrictions. It's not just that you can make money, and you act like you're a millionaire, you don't have to come and perform. In my book I talk about performance-based requirements and academic-based requirements. If you're here for basketball, you gotta do all these things before you transfer. If you're Caleb Love and you wanna leave North Carolina and go to Arizona, alright, did you fulfill all your requirements?Farris: When you were at UNC, was Michael Jordan ever around and were there open communication lines?McCants: He came by. It was Michael Jordan so we didn't have access to him like that (laughing), but he definitely came by to practices to say hello. He'd come back and say hello to everybody and bet us to shoot from halfcourt and keep it movin.Farris: Who was winning that?McCants: Me, of course.Farris: So you beat Jordan?McCants: Well, I hit (the shot attempt) first.Farris: How are you feeling, as a Tar Heel, with A) having Bill Belichick as the school's football coach? And B) with everything that surrounds him right now?McCants: (laughing) I like Belichick a lot. I think the UNC move was a good move for him. But I think with his morale and everything around him now, (his girlfriend Jordon Hudson) and everything, it's just controversy waiting to happen. It's more pressure on him than ever before, because if he doesn't win, it's the distractions that around him and he's not really focused. And if he does win, this is maybe a little bit too easy. You came down to the college ranks to dominate. I love the fact that he's in North Carolina to give some prestige back (to the program). Mack Brown tried. It's an opportunity for him to build something. But Belichick, I just thinkhe's gonna be a man. He's gonna be a man and do what you wanna do. I'm not gonna tell him not to do it. You know, we all want to do it but you gotta have enough money to do it. And if you don't, you don't. Cool. But salute to Bill. He's having fun. He's living his life.Farris: One last question. Ice Cube's Big3 returns this weekend. You won a championship in the league's first season. How big of an adjustment is it going from playing 5-on-5 full court to 3-on-3 half court?McCants: When you talk about preparation for it and the half court and the difference, you play a lot harder because you can get exposed a lot quicker. There's not a lot of help (defense). With 5-on-5 you've got a lot of extra help with two extra guys on the court. You can cut the court (angles) off and kind of rest a little bit. But 3-on3, as soon as a shot goes up, somebody gets the rebound, and you can throw it to (a player at) the three point line and shoot it (immediately). So everyone's constantly running around. You have to be in (good) cardio (shape). It's not what everyone thinks it is. It's definitely harder than 5-on-5.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

President Trump's relationship with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, which appeared to publicly blow up last week as the two feuded in public, took a softer tone on Monday when Musk responded to a clip of the president on X."We had a great relationship and I wish him well very well, actually," Trump said on Monday in a clip that was posted by conservative influencer ALX.Musk responded to that post with a heart emoji on Monday evening.Earlier in the day, Fox News Digital reported that the public spat between the two billionaires appeared to be losing steam after Musk seemingly issued support from Trump's handling of the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.TIMELINE: INSIDE THE EVOLVING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRUMP AND MUSK FROM FIRST TERM TO THIS WEEK'S FALLOUT"Governor Gavin Newscum and Mayor Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that theyve done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots," Trump said late Sunday in the post Musk shared. "These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists."Additionally, Musk also re-posted one of Vice President JD Vances posts on X about the riots."This moment calls for decisive leadership," Vance said, sharing a screenshot of a post from Trump about how his administration would address the riots. "The president will not tolerate rioting and violence."Musk also appeared to post a self-deprecating joke about himself on X on Sunday which many interpreted to be a veiled reference to the fallout with Trump."Its outrageous how much character assassination has been directed at me, especially by me!" Musk posted. While speaking with reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said that he was "very disappointed" by Musks vocal criticisms of the bill. The president claimed that Musk knew what was in the bill and "had no problem" with it until the EV incentives had to be cut.On X, Musk called that assessment "false."Trump turned to social media to criticize Musk, who he appointed to find ways to cut $2 trillion after forming the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).TRUMP WARNS OF 'SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES' IF ELON MUSK FUNDS DEMOCRATS"Elon was wearing thin, I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!" Trump said in one post.In another post, Trump said, "I dont mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. Its a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given.""If this Bill doesnt pass, there will be a 68% tax increase, and things far worse than that. I didnt create this mess, Im just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"At one point, Musk referenced late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in relation to Trump as part of the larger tirade in a comment that several Republicanstold Fox News Digital went "too far."Musk deleted that post days later.Other posts from Musk included a claim that Trump would not have won the election without his help while accusing Trump of "ingratitude." In another post, Musk suggested that Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President Vance.Trump told Fox News on Friday that he isn't interested in talking to Musk, adding that "Elon's totally lost it."Trump also said to Fox News' Bret Baier that he isn't worried about Musk's suggestion to form a new political party, citing favorable polls and strong support from Republicans on Capitol Hill.Fox News Digital's Diana Stancy contributed to this report

However, Moore injured his collar bone diving to make a save as a goalie in the Congressional soccer game a few weeks ago.Yes, theres a Congressional soccer game, too. And flag football game. And basketball game. And hockey game. And voters sometimes wonder why nothing ever gets done in Washington?UNDER THE DOME AND ON THE DIAMONDAnyway, Moore says his clavicle has healed. Ironically, he can golf. But cant play baseball. And cant reach up to put away the dishes in the cupboard after dinner."That goes over really well with my wife," said Moore.A penalty for playing soccer?"I fined him $500," said Williams we believe jokingly.Rep. Jake Ellzey, R-Texas, played right field last year. He moves to center field in place of Moore Wednesday night. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., patrols right field for Republicans.Stutzman returned to Congress this year after an eight-year hiatus. Stutzman played in six games before, hitting .083. Stutzman used to pitch for the GOP. But his services out of the bullpen probably arent necessary. After all, Stutzman might not match up to other Hoosier State hurlers like Tommy John and Don Larsen. On the mound, Stutzman sports an 0-2 record with a 14.44 ERA in the Congressional contest. That said, Williams does have a potential newcomer who can throw: Freshman Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C., is a rookie and a fireballer."Hes my Ryne Duren," said Williams of Harrigan. To the uninitiated, Duren was a flamethrowing all-star in the 1950s and 60s mostly with the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds. Duren wore Coke-bottle glasses. The line "Oh say can you see" during "The Star-Spangled Banner" took on a little more meaning for opposing hitters when Duren was on the mound with his fastball.Williams says Harrigan can bring it. But his control needs work.THE TRAGEDY OF PETER EDWARD ROSERep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., enters her third year as the Democrats skipper. Shes the first woman to manage the team.Women first played in the game in 1993. Former Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., along with former Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., and current Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., broke the gender barrier. Both Lincoln and Cantwell played as House Members. Sanchez appeared in 11 games and is one of the best women to suit up. She hit .455, going 5-11 with two walks.Sanchez bleeds Dodger blue. She historically wears a Fernando Valenzuela jersey while managing. Valenzuela was one of the most iconic Dodgers of all time, capturing the 1981 Cy Young Award with his screwball as "Fernandomania" seized southern California. Valenzuela died last fall. But Sanchez used to pull for the "California" Angels now the Los Angeles Angels. Sanchez switched her allegiance from the Halos to the Dodgers after the Angels let Nolan Ryan escape to the Houston Astros in late 1979.One wonders how Sanchez would have felt if she were a New York Mets fan back when they traded Ryan to the Angels?TRUMP'S SPENDING BILL HEADS TO SENATE WHERE REPUBLICANS PLAN STRATEGIC ADJUSTMENTS TO KEY PROVISIONSSanchezs success at the plate hasnt followed her into the Democrats dugout. Republicans have captured the last four contests including the two which Sanchez managed. Republicans pounded the Democrats last year, 31-11. The GOP topped the Democrats 16-6 in 2023. There was no game in 2020 due to the pandemic. So the Democrats havent won since 2019. Republicans hold a 38-23 advantage in the "modern" era of the game. They began playing the Congressional game in 1909. But late House Speaker Sam Rayburn, D-Texas, halted the game because it became too violent. There was a legendary collision at home plate in the 1956 game. Late Rep. Charles Curtis, R-Mo., was catching for the GOP. Rep. Olin "Tiger" Teague, D-Texas, steamrolled Curtis at the plate. Teague is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. But Teague buried Curtis at home in that game. Orderlies hauled Curtis off the old Griffith Stadium field on a stretcher.Lawmakers resumed the game in 1962.Sanchez is buoyed by at least four new freshmen or rookies on her club. Reps. Dave Min, D-Calif., Derek Tran, D-Calif., John Mannion, D-N.Y., and Johnny Olszewski, D-Md."Our principal weakness has been not a lot of depth to our bullpen. And this year we've got a couple of freshmen that can throw. So we're hoping that with those additions, we can do a lot better this year," said Sanchez.Expect Mannion to work in relief.REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS STAND FIRM AGAINST MUSK'S 'KILL THE BILL' ASSAULT ON TRUMP'S AGENDALike most Major League clubs, the Democrats need pitching."We had a great run for a little while when Cedric Richmond was on the mound," said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., who pitches, catches and plays infield for the Democrats.Former Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-La., is one of the greatest players in Congressional Baseball Game history. He pitched in college. He threw 80-mph-plus to stymie fellow lawmakers. Richmond boasted an 8-0 record and a miniscule 2.64 ERA.But Richmond left Congress to work for former President Biden in 2021. The Democrats havent been formidable since.Heading into Wednesdays contest, Sanchez teased that her goal with the Republicans in the game is "making them cry.""But we come together and do something good for the area," added Sanchez, noting the $2 million the game raises for childrens charities in the DC area. But she concedes, "theres always trash talk."HOUSE REPUBLICANS PUSH FOR SPENDING CANCELLATIONS AS ELON MUSK AND CONSERVATIVES DEMAND DEEPER BUDGET CUTSSo Democrats try to escape from their slump. The Democrats havent won under Sanchez. But theyre oh-fer since House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., took over in 2023."It's my expectation that the Democratic comeback is going to begin in 2025 at the Congressional Baseball Game," said Jeffries last week. But the Brooklyn Democrat said the same thing two years ago."I think this is the year for the big, Democratic comeback," said Jeffries in June 2023.So, I questioned Jeffries in the Capitol corridors late last week."You realize since you've been the Minority Leader that the Republicans have defeated the Democrats by a combined score of 47 to 1?" asked yours truly."I also realize that my record as an active member of the Congressional Baseball Game team, I believe, was 9-1," replied Jeffries. But is that because of Jeffries? Or Cedric Richmond?Statistics are paramount in baseball. Whether youre scoring at home. Or using the Congressional Budget Office. Jeffries is 1-6 hitting in his nine games on the Democratic squad. Thats good for a .167 average. Well below the Mendoza Line. But he did swipe seven bases. And this year, Democrats will again try to steal a win against a talented Republican club.Gametime at 7pm ET on FS1 Wednesday. Yours truly will be on the call alongside colleague Kevin Corke.

RFK Jr scraps vaccine committee members in effort to restore 'public trust'
    www.foxnews.com
The Department of Health and Human Services dismissed all the members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Monday. The committees job was to decide and "make recommendations" related to the necessity and use of vaccines, according to an HHS news release. All the current members of the committee were brought in under the Biden administration, and 13 of them were put on the committee last year. HHS said it would take until 2028 for most of the members to be replaced if they served their full term.RFK JR'S HHS TO END ROUTINE COVID VACCINE GUIDANCE FOR CHILDREN, PREGNANT WOMEN: REPORTPublic debate about vaccines, especially whether government or workplaces should mandate them, escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of the criticism and skepticism fell on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which ACIP advises."Today we are prioritizing the restoration of public trust above any specific pro- or anti-vaccine agenda,"Secretary Robert F. Kennedy said in a statement on Monday. "The public must know that unbiased scienceevaluated through a transparent process and insulated from conflicts of interestguides the recommendations of our health agencies."The HHS release noted that the next meeting for the committee will be June 25-27 in Atlanta, and the committee will have new people that are "currently under consideration."CDC EYES NARROWER COVID-19 VACCINE GUIDANCE AHEAD OF 2025-2026 SEASON"A clean sweep is necessary to reestablish public confidence in vaccine science,"Kennedy continued."ACIP's new members will prioritize public health and evidence-based medicine. The Committee will no longer function as a rubber stamp for industry profit-taking agendas. The entire world once looked to American health regulators for guidance, inspiration, scientific impartiality, and unimpeachable integrity. Public trust has eroded. Only through radical transparency and gold standard science, will we earn it back."HHS cited an executive order from President Donald Trump saying that changes were needed in how the federal government plays a role in science and health."Unfortunately, the Federal Government has contributed to this loss of trust. In several notable cases, executive departments and agencies (agencies) have used or promoted scientific information in a highly misleading manner," the order stated.MILLIONS SPENT BY BIDEN ON COVID 'VACCINE HESITANCY' CAMPAIGN SLASHED BY TRUMP NIH: REPORT"For example, under the prior Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued COVID-19 guidance on reopening schools that incorporated edits by the American Federation of Teachers and was understood to discourage in-person learning," the order, signed on May 23, continued. "This guidances restrictive and burdensome reopening conditions led many schools to remain at least partially closed, resulting in substantial negative effects on educational outcomes even though the best available scientific evidence showed that children were unlikely to transmit or suffer serious illness or death from the virus, and that opening schools with reasonable mitigation measures would have only minor effects on transmission," it added.Kennedy was confirmed by the Senate to lead the department in February after Trump nominated him.
