Social Security commissioner breaks down plan to save agency from insolvency
Newly-sworn in Social Security commissioner Frank Bisignano spelled out the agency's plans to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse, and protect the agency from a looming threat of insolvency that some say could come within the next ten years. The Fiserv CEO told "Sunday Morning Futures" this week that he's "honored" to be a part of the team President Donald Trump has put together, and improving the safety and security of the agency ranks among the highest priorities."I think is, the team that oversees the Social Security Trust, which I'm one of the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Labor, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services we as a team will get together probably in the next couple months, [to] go through the information that's produced. This is [an] effort across the board that will also involve Senate and Congress," Bisignano said.TRUMP SAYS PUBLIC ENTITLEMENTS LIKE SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICAID WON'T BE TOUCHED IN GOP BUDGET BILL"I think doing our job right is accretive to this economic challenge. It's been a 90-year-old institution, and as the president has said we have no intent to break a system that can be improved, but we have no intent to break it, and I do believe that that team that will get together, along with the Senate and Congress, will ensure that this is here for the next 90 years, at least."Bisignano sees a "tremendous opportunity" to improve the agency by focusing on the "integrity," "safety and security" of Social Security numbers. He went on to call Trump's team the "best that's ever been assembled."Bisignano's remarks came after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer recently lambasted him in a press briefing as "Mr. Slash and Burn" for allegedly making sizable cuts to organizations in the private sector."Can you imagine putting this man, who has no experience, with Social Security, but who has experience in cutting the daylights out of any organization that he becomes part of, being the commissioner?" Schumer said.TRUMP PICKS BILLY LONG TO HEAD IRS, KELLY LOEFFLER TO LEAD SBA AND FRANK BISIGNANO TO LEAD SSABisignano told Fox News' Maria Bartiromo that the integrity of data within Social Security is "job one," "whether it's a payment or whether it's how that number travels through a system.""Fraud and abuse can happen so many ways, so job one's going to be ensuring that Social Security numbers are only given out and maintained to people who should have them," he explained."I think we need to think broader about what Elon and DOGE and the president were talking about. It's not as simple as did a 150-year-old get a payment? It can be as simple as, did that number travel through the system and [can] still be alive and used for many other things?"He called the agency's one percent error rate for improper payments "not acceptable.""If you think about your own financial transactions, if you had a one percent error rate on them, or your own data integrity you would really feel like you were at risk, so we need to shut down all the avenues where these errors happen, and that is fraud, waste and abuse."

4th round of US-Iran talks ends as Trump set to embark on historic Middle East tour
JERUSALEM With President Donald Trump set to leave for the Middle East on Monday, talks between the U.S. and the Islamic Republic of Iran concluded a fourth round of negotiations in Oman on Sunday over Tehrans illicit nuclear weapons program.A day before the start of talks, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei welcomed chants of "Death to America" in Tehran. "Your judgment is right," Khamenei told a crowd of supporters who called for the destruction of the U.S.Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaeisaid the nuclear talks were "difficult but useful." A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the closed-door negotiations, offered a little bit more, describing them as being both indirect and direct, The Associated Press reported. An "agreement was reached to move forward with the talks to continue working through technical elements," the U.S. official said. "We are encouraged by todays outcome and look forward to our next meeting, which will happen in the near future."TRUMP HALTS MILITARY STRIKES ON HOUTHIS BUT EXPERT WARNS IRAN-BACKED TERRORIST GROUP REMAINS MAJOR THREATPresident Trump announced a 60-day time frame to reach an agreement with Iran over its illegal atomic weapons program. The first U.S. negotiating session with Iran commenced on April 12.Mardo Soghom, an Iran analyst and journalist, noted prior to the start of talks several months ago that Irans regime will go to great lengths to preserve its right to enrich uraniumthe material required for a nuclear weapon. The Trump administration vehemently opposes a uranium enrichment program on Iranian soil."Iran is trying to save its enrichment operation at a lower level and also not accepting any pressure to halt its anti-Israel stance. Khamenei's speech [Saturday] highlighted that second point. But at this point, the main issue is dismantling Iran's uranium enrichment," Soghom told Fox News Digital.Khamenei also lashed out at Israel during his Saturday speech in Tehran, declaring about Israels war campaign to root out Iran-backed Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip that "The people of Gaza are not facing Israel alonethey are facing America and Britain."Jason Brodsky, the policy director of United Against Nuclear Iran, told Fox News Digital that"The Iranians, like last round, sound more downcast than the U.S. side, describing talks as difficult."In 2018, PresidentTrump withdrew from former President Barack Obamas 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), because the accord failed to prevent Tehran from building a nuclear weapons device, according to the first Trump administration.TRUMP REINSTATES MAXIMUM PRESSURE CAMPAIGN AGAINST IRANPresident TrumpsSpecial Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff recently stressed thatIran cannot have an enrichment program during an interview with Breitbart News prior to Sundays bargaining session.Witkoff said "First of all, were never doing a JCPOA deal where sanctions come off and theres no sunsetting of their obligations. That doesnt make sense. That was a mismatched procedure in JCPOA. We believe that they cannot have enrichment, they cannot have centrifuges, they cannot have anything that allows them to build a weapon. We believe in all of that. That was not JCPOA. JCPOA had sunset provisions that burned off the obligations and burned off the sanctions relief at inappropriate times. Its never going to happen in this deal."Brodsky said that "All in all, both sides want to keep the process moving. The Iranians will usually say and do enough to earn another meeting as they stand to lose more by this process breaking down than the U.S. government. The negotiating process is as important to the Iranians as the agreement itself as the process offers insulation from the impact of sanctionswith the rial strengthening since talks startedand protection from a military strike."This is why Iran will want these negotiations to continue for as long as possible. They will try to wear out and exhaust U.S. negotiators into concessions, which the Trump administration should reject. As President Trump said in a different context, Tehran does not have the cards here."IRAN'S LEADER WARNS US COULD RECEIVE SEVERE SLAPS FOLLOWING TRUMP'S THREATS TO HOUTHISThe hot-button issue of uranium enrichment has plagued talks with Iran over the last few decades. The Europeans faced intense criticism when they agreedindependent of the U.S.to allow the Islamic Republic to enrich uranium during the nascent phase of atomic talks during the early years of this century.Brodsky said"The original sin of U.S. decision-making on Irans nuclear program was when the Obama administration changed the U.S. position from zero enrichment to tolerating enrichment at 3.67%. That laid the groundwork for Iran to retain the capability to continue to use its nuclear program to extort the United States and ultimately build a nuclear weapon."The nuclear expert noted, "That should end today, and recent comments from President Trump, Special Envoy Witkoff, and Secretary Rubio hopefully signal that this era is over. House and Senate Republicans were also very clear on this point over the last week. The Iranians say they want a durable deal. But a JCPOA 2.0tolerating enrichment at 3.67% and no dismantlement of nuclear facilitieswould not be one."The Iranians are engaged in all kinds of gimmicks to dress up a variation of the same concessions they offered to President Obama. That should be unacceptable to American negotiators."The anti-American news outlet, Kayhan, that serves as the mouthpiece for Khamenei, published a full-page screed against Trump where it stated, "He is a framework based on narcissism, superiority delusions, and threat-based tactics."The talks on Sunday ran for some three hours in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Iran's regime spokesperson, Baghaei, said that a decision on the next round of talks is under discussion. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

UK to tighten immigration rules over voter frustration with high immigration numbers: 'Failed experiment'
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to announce plans on Monday to tighten immigration rules amid pressure from voters upset over high levels of immigration.Starmer, whose center-left Labour Party won a landslide victory in July, is under pressure as Member of Parliament Nigel Farage's right-wing and anti-immigration Reform UK party gains popularity.Voters are becoming increasingly frustrated by high immigration numbers, which many argue have strained public services and intensified ethnic tensions in some parts of the country. With Monday's legislation, Starmer is vowing to end what his office described as "Britains failed experiment in open borders," less than two weeks after Reform UK took advantage of the immigration issue to secure victories in local elections.TRUMP INKS TRADE DEAL WITH UK, PREVIEWS CHINA TRADE NEGOTIATIONS DURING 16TH WEEK IN OFFICELabour and the center-right Conservatives, which have long been the major parties in Britain, both suffered drops in support in the contests for local government councils and mayors.Under the new plans, skilled visas will be restricted to people in graduate jobs, while visas for lower-skilled roles will only be issued in areas critical to the country's industrial strategy, and businesses must increase the training of British workers. Companies in the care sector will also no longer be able to apply for visas for workers recruited abroad."Every area of the immigration system, including work, family and study, will be tightened up so we have more control," Starmer said in excerpts of a speech he plans to deliver on Monday. "Enforcement will be tougher than ever and migration numbers will fall. We will create a system that is controlled, selective and fair."Migrants who are in the U.K. on visas are typically not eligible for welfare benefits and social housing.BRITISH POLICE ARREST SEVERAL IRANIAN MEN OVER ALLEGED PLOT TO ATTACK TARGET IN LONDONThe government also said it plans to raise English language requirements to include all adult dependents, who must show a basic understanding of English. The government said the goal behind the change is to help integration and cut the risks of exploitation."This is a clean break from the past and will ensure settlement in this country is a privilege that must be earned, not a right," Starmer said."And when people come to our country, they should also commit to integration and to learning our language," he added.Employers' groups are concerned that tightening the rules on foreign workers will make it more difficult for companies to fill jobs. The number of European Union migrants to Britain fell significantly after Brexit. But new visa rules, an increase in people arriving from Ukraine and Hong Kong as well as higher net numbers of foreign students have led to an overall surge in immigration in recent years."We inherited a failed immigration system where the previous government replaced free movement with a free market experiment," British interior minister Yvette Cooper said in a statement. "We are taking decisive action to restore control and order to the immigration system."Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

'Nonpartisan' CBO's health division overwhelmingly staffed by Dems, GOP-aligned group says
EXCLUSIVE: A division of the Congressional Budget Office, the agency charged with providing budget and economic information to lawmakers, is stacked with liberal Democrats, putting into question its long-standing reputation of being nonpartisan. The American Accountability Foundation, a conservative government research nonprofit, found that much of the CBO's Health Analysis Division is made up of Democrats or Democratic donors.Of the 32 staff members in the division, 26 of them, or 84%, have "clearly" verified liberal partisan biases, being either a Democrat donor, a registered Democrat, or a Democratic primary voter, the group said in a memo outlining its findings, which come ahead of potential scrutiny of President Donald Trump's budget request.NPR, PBS CHIEFS SET TO CLASH WITH GOP LAWMAKERS DURING DOGE SUBCOMMITTEE HEARING"The CBO likes to call itself nonpartisan in an attempt to disguise its role as an undercover leftist think tank," AAF President Tom Jones said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "In fact, the CBO is institutionally progressive, with 84% of its professional healthcare staff members being registered Democrats. These same staff members, who are on record donating to radicals like Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton, score legislation and present it to the American people like its sacrosanct."Jones accused the CBO staffers of not just voting left, but using their influence to promote progressive policy changes.DOGE SUBCOMMITTEE INVITES NPR, PBS CHIEFS TO TESTIFY ON THEIR FEDERAL FUNDING, SYSTEMICALLY BIASED CONTENT"The Health Analysis Division has been overtaken by liberal group think," the memo states. "As policymakers consider pronouncements and scores from CBO over the coming weeks, they should regard those from the Health Care Analysis Division with deep suspicion and should likely disregard them as the product of a politically biased policy shop, much as they would analysis from an institution like the Center for American Progress."The HAD is tasked with analyzing federal programs and policies that include Medicare, Medicaid and subsidies provided through health insurance exchanges. Its staffers produce reports on policy issues and play a key role in certain estimates of proposed changes in health care programs, the CBO website states. The report noted that the CBO works to "cultivate" a reputation as a "non-partisan scorekeeper, just balls and strikes." That reputation is so entrenched, the AAF said, that 1,358 different news media stories in the last year alone have appended the word "nonpartisan" to the beginning of the offices name, reporting on the "nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.""While the CBO has spun a narrative through the mainstream media that its a neutral scorekeeper, its one big gaslighting campaign to distract from the offices fundamentally progressive roots." Jones said. "They know the next few months with reconciliation are crucial and will do everything they can to slam and stall the Trump administrations policies."CBO employees are barred from engaging in political activity if it would "identify, or appear to identify, CBO with a political campaign, candidate, officeholder, or cause," its website states."The specific positions taken are irrelevant; rather, the potential harm to CBOs reputation for objectivity comes from association with political activity or public advocacy," it adds. The agency doesn't hire employment candidates based on their political affiliation, it said.Research conducted by the group found that Health Analysis Director Chapin White is a Democratic donor, having given money to former Secretary of State John Kerry. White made a $300 donation to Kerry's failed presidential bid in 2004, according to Federal Election Commission data.White referred Fox News Digital to the CBO, which declined to comment.TRUMP FCC CHAIR TARGETS NPR, PBS FOR INVESTIGATION AHEAD OF CONGRESSIONAL THREATS TO DEFUNDOne analyst has donated to several Democratic elected officials, including former President Joe Biden and various members of Congress, according to the FEC. Many others are registered Democrats or have donated to Democratic pollical candidates, the think tank said.Much of the data gathered by the AAF was obtained through public campaign finance reporting agencies or from voter registration offices, noting that many CBO employees live in Virginia, which doesn't have partisan registration, the nonprofit said.Virginia also restricts access to voter history records via the states Freedom of Information Act, making it challenging to ascertain whether voters cast ballots in Democratic or Republican primaries, it said. However, the AAF said it obtained Virginia voting history information from a trusted third-party source."There were four staff members for whom AAF was unable to secure voting history or registration information," it said. "AAF strongly suspects if the staffers listed as Data on Definitive Partisan Bias Unavailable were asked whether they vote in Democrat or Republican primaries (or if they had voted for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump) very few, if any, will respond that they are Republicans."

Hybrid airship slashes emissions by 80%
The tragic Hindenburg disaster of 1937, which resulted in the death of 36 people and effectively ended passenger airship travel, cast a long-lasting shadow over lighter-than-air technology. For many decades, airships were largely confined to niche roles such as advertising and surveillance. However, a groundbreaking spin-off from Lockheed Martin to AT Aerospace is now reviving the airship concept with a modern twist: hybrid airships designed specifically for eco-friendly cargo transport. Most recently, AT Aerospace announced two purchase orders for their airships, one from Straightline Aviation and one from Arctic Airships.Join the FREE "CyberGuy Report": Get my expert tech tips, critical security alerts and exclusive deals, plus instant access to myfree "Ultimate Scam Survival Guide" when you sign up!At the center of this revival is the Z1 hybrid airship, a massive vessel capable of carrying up to 23.5 tons (21 metric tons) of cargo while minimizing environmental impacts and significantly reducing fuel consumption compared to traditional aircraft. Unlike the hydrogen-filled Hindenburg, which was highly flammable, the Z1 relies on helium for lift, a nonflammable gas, providing buoyancy for the majority of the airship's weight, combined with aerodynamic design and advanced propulsion systems.MASSIVE AIRSHIP COULD SHAKE UP CARGO TRANSPORTThe Z1 combines lighter-than-air buoyancy with advanced engineering innovations. Notably, the aircraft features a tri-lobe hull design, a hallmark of Lockheed Martin's earlier airship projects. This design includes a raised central lobe flanked by two side lobes, which enhances lift efficiency and stability. Its Air Cushion Landing System allows it to take off and land on virtually any flat surface, including sand, ice, water or uneven terrain, eliminating the need for traditional runways. The Z1 uses vectored thrust propulsion and advanced onboard systems for weather prediction and route planning, enabling it to travel more than 1,400 nautical miles at speeds of up to 60 knots. The hybrid lift system merges helium's natural buoyancy with vectored thrust from the engines, optimizing both efficiency and control. This innovative design reduces fuel consumption to just one-fifth of what a heavy-lift helicopter would use, making the Z1 especially suited for transporting goods to remote and difficult-to-access areas such as the Arctic or the Amazon rainforest.ZERO EMISSIONS HYDROGEN ELECTRIC JET DISRUPTS CONVENTIONAL FLIGHTSThe Z1 addresses two pressing challenges in modern transportation. First, it offers a practical solution for accessing remote regions where traditional cargo planes and helicopters face high costs and infrastructure limitations. Its ability to land without airstrips unlocks affordable transport options for industries like mining, disaster relief and medical supply delivery in isolated communities.Second, the Z1 contributes to the urgent global need to reduce carbon emissions. Transports such as cars, trucks, trains, ships and airplanes currently account for over 40% of worldwide carbon emissions, and the Z1's low fuel consumption and ability to overfly environmentally sensitive areas quietly present a scalable alternative for freight transport with minimized environmental impact.IS THIS 656-FOOT AIRYACHT THE LUXURY TRANSPORTATION OF THE FUTURE?The recent $50 million order from Straightline Aviation demonstrates strong confidence in the Z1's commercial potential, with the first delivery expected by 2028. Arctic Airships has also placed orders for two airships, targeting operations in Alaska's challenging terrain."Our hybrid airships will transform cargo transport by providing an environmentally responsible solution while maintaining operational efficiency," said Dr. Bob Boyd, CEO of AT Aerospace. He went on to say,"Our aircraft not only optimizes cargo movement in challenging terrains but also aligns with the industry's increasing focus on environmental responsibility and cost efficiency."SUBSCRIBE TO KURT'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR QUICK VIDEO TIPS ON HOW TO WORK ALL OF YOUR TECH DEVICESThe Z1 hybrid airship is a real, practical answer to the challenges we face in logistics and the environment today. By blending tried-and-true lighter-than-air technology with advanced, fuel-efficient propulsion, AT Aerospace is showing us a whole new way to think about sustainable transport. It is encouraging to see that when it comes to moving cargo responsibly, the sky really is no longer the limit. In a world racing to cut carbon emissions, can hybrid airships and sustainable fuels realistically transform aviation before climate impacts worsen? Brooke Burke swears by 'weird' morning routine powered by belly patches, longevity smoothies
Brooke Burke's "weird" morning routine is not for the weak, but she says it's worth it.In a new interview with Fox News Digital, Burke broke down her detailed, three-hour health and beauty routine, which includes some unusual practices."This castor oil belly button detox that's popping right now on social media, I got suckered. I ordered a kit," Burke began."It's not about the castor oil. It's really about, I think, the process of connecting with the belly, heating up the core. You sleep with it, so you get this big bandage I think personally, because it looks so weird, that's why everyone's interested."Burke said that after removing the patch in the morning, she will typically perform a lymphatic drainage massage on herself and rubs in the remaining oil.BROOKE BURKE BATTLING THREE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES, SAYS SHE'S 'FRAGILE' DESPITE FIT PHYSIQUE"It actually works for bloating, detoxing. Skin quality is great. And I think it might be maybe part of it's mental you know, I'm always a skeptic and I keep it real but it might also be the intention of kind of loving your belly a little bit and doing a belly massage and just taking care of yourself. So yeah, weird, I know, I like weird things," Burke laughed. The fitness guru's longevity smoothie comes next."So a lot of people are asking, What is longevity? So we're actually in a process right now of rebranding and possibly even retitling, because for the most part, longevity is a little bit more in relation to lifespan, and has some scientific components. But longevity is the superfood blend. Let's call it a superfood boost.WATCH: Brooke Burke swears by her longevity smoothies"It has everything in there for recovery, endurance and energy. So maca, matcha, flaxseed oils, probiotics for the tummy, sustainable energy, pea protein. So a little bit of protein, but it's not a protein powder. It's a superfood blend for anti-inflammatory," she explained.Burke adds two scoops of the longevity powder to her smoothies every morning, but she also listens to her body to see what she needs every day."I think that a lot of women are struggling getting their protein especially in your 40s, 50s, 60s we have to improve our protein intake for lean muscle. To maintain the muscle that we have and certainly to build muscle, which gets harder and harder. So doing a smoothie for me, it's a two-minute meal," Burke said. Some mornings, Burke will also do a cold plunge for her face. She fills up a bowl with ice water and dunks her face in it.WATCH: Brooke Burke admits her detailed morning routine is 'weird'"So you get like a big Tupperware or a big bowl. You have to fill it with ice. It's not just cold water. Is it fun? No. Will it get rid of puffiness? Will it tighten up the skin? Yes, cold water, the skin reacts. It'll wake up your face. It literally is a cold plunge for your face and all you do is you get your hair out of the way, you stick your face in it for as long as you can. And it's pretty amazing."It actually works. So all of those weird things that I posted in my morning routine are things that, yes, I really do them and yes, they really work," Burke said with a laugh.APP USERS CLICK HEREBurke recently uploaded a video of her morning routine to Instagram, and it sparked a lot of mixed reviews."This is her routine everyday? Im all for self-care and self-love but seems to be a little too much for this single mom," one user wrote.Another added, "What about people that need to go to actual work and make the world go round."WATCH: Brooke Burke addresses critics who believe her morning routine is too difficultSome Instagram users praised Burke for sharing her intricate routine.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? She also addressed those who are skeptical of her morning routine."I think it is difficult. I think change is difficult. I think it is time-consuming, but the reality is you're worth it. And if you can steal an hour extra in the day by getting up early, let's go. If you can carve out two hours where you can actually set yourself up for success during the day, you will be more productive. You will be connected. You will have a greater sense of clarity," she said. She added, "I would say wake up an hour earlier. I would say yes, meditate in the morning. And that might mean that you're laying down for 10 minutes, just going through your day. You don't have to completely quiet the mind."Burke shared a time-hack she has been incorporating which is "walk and talk.""If you can steal an hour, move in the morning, take a walk. Maybe you have a bunch of calls. You know what I've been doing lately: a walk and talk. So this has been a game changer for me," she said.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERBurke aims to hit 10,000 steps per day, in addition to her daily workout."That's not my workout. Those are free calories, free. Poland orders Russian consulate in Krakow closed after blaming Kremlin for 2024 arson
Polish officials ordered the closure of Russia's consulate in Krakow on Monday after an investigation concluded that Moscow was responsible for a 2024 arson that destroyed a shopping center in Warsaw.Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski announced the closure on Monday and also remarked on the matter during a visit to the U.K. It came after the conclusion of a year-long investigation into a blaze that destroyed a shopping center with some 1,400 stores last year."This was a huge fire of a shopping mall in Warsaw in which, just by sheer luck, nobody was hurt. This is completely unacceptable," Sikorski said. "So the Russian consulate will have to leave, and if these attacks continue, well take further action."Russian officials have denied wrongdoing and condemned Poland's decision in statements to the press.ZELENSKYY CLAIMS 'RUSSIAN NARRATIVES ARE PREVAILING' IN US DURING '60 MINUTES' INTERVIEW"Warsaw is continuing to deliberately destroy relations and acting against the interests of its citizens," ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, according to Russian media.RUSSIA'S PUTIN HOSTS CHINA'S XI AT MASSIVE MOSCOW MILITARY PARADE ON RED SQUAREThe incident comes just days before Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet face-to-face with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Turkey on Thursday. Putin initially proposed the Thursday meeting this weekend, and President Donald Trump prompted Zelenskyy to accept the offer. Putin said the talks in Istanbul must be held without preconditions and with the goal of lasting peace.Putin has thus far offered few, if any, concessions but is now saying talks should address the root causes of the war. He said Sunday that he planned to speak to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoan about facilitating the negotiations, which he said could result in a ceasefire.BIDEN BLASTS TRUMP AS 'FOOLISH' APPEASER OF RUSSIA, SAYS FIRST 100 DAYS WERE NO TRIUMPH"Our proposal, as they say, is on the table," Putin said. "The decision is now up to the Ukrainian authorities and their curators, who are guided, it seems, by their personal political ambitions, and not by the interests of their peoples."The Russian leader said he does not rule out that Moscow and Kyiv will agree on "some new truces, a new ceasefire" during negotiations in Turkey, saying that the talks would be the first step toward a "sustainable" peace.Fox News' Landon Mion contributed to this report.

Pope Leo XIV wrapped up his first meeting with Vatican-accredited journalists Monday morning.More than 1,000 members of the media were assembled to hear his remarks, according to the New York Times. Some of them even took their children. The gathering took place in the Vaticans Paul VI Hall, Vatican Media reported. There, the pontiff "thanked reporters in Italian for their tireless work over these intense few weeks.""Let us disarm communication of all prejudice and resentment, fanaticism and even hatred," the pope told the crowd of reporters. "Let us disarm words, and we will help disarm the world."HOW THE POPE GETS PAID AND A LOOK INTO THE VATICAN'S FINANCESThe 69-year-old called for the release of imprisoned journalists and affirmed the "precious gift of free speech and the press," the Associated Press reported. He expressed solidarity with journalists around the world who have been jailed for trying to seek and report the truth. Drawing applause from the crowd, he asked for their release.POPE LEO DELIVERS FIRST 'REGINA CAELI' PRAYERS FROM ST. PETER'S BALCONY"The church recognizes in these witnesses I am thinking of those who report on war even at the cost of their lives the courage of those who defend dignity, justice and the right of people to be informed, because only informed individuals can make free choices," he said. The pontiff also told the journalists they must act responsibly in using artificial intelligence in their work, asking them to "ensure that it can be used for the good of all, so that it can benefit all of humanity."The pope spoke mainly in Italian, but opened with a joke in English about the standing ovation he received."Thank you for this wonderful reception," he said. "They say that when they clap at the beginning, it doesn't matter much. If you're still awake at the end and still want to applaud, thank you very much."The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.
