Popular 'internal shower' chia seed trend could backfire if you make this simple mistake
Chia seeds are not new to the health food scene, but a new way of eating them has gained popularity online and experts say one simple mistake can reverse their cleansing benefits. The tiny, crunchy seeds, which expand in liquid overnight to make a breakfast "pudding" or can be sprinkled on yogurt and smoothies, are nutritional powerhouses that provide omega-3s, protein, fiber, antioxidants, minerals and even sustainable energy, experts say. Now, chia seed fans online are touting perhaps the easiest hack of all to consuming the superfood: They mix them with water, letting them soak for about 20 minutes until they get their gel-like coating and drinking them.THIS BREAKFAST MISTAKE MAKES PEOPLE REACH FOR SUGARY SNACKS IN THE AFTERNOONDevotees swear by them in the morning to give the body an "internal shower."Some even claim the high-fiber drink cures their constipation.Daryl Gioffre, a gut health specialist and celebrity nutritionist in New York who started the internal shower trend on TikTok, said an estimated 42 million Americans are suffering from constipation, mainly because they're not getting enough fiber."Just a handful of chia seeds in your daily diet 2 tablespoons in 6 ounces of water, with a slice of lemon can improve the function of your digestive system," Gioffre told Fox News Digital.'FOOD IS MEDICINE' MOVEMENT MAY BE KEY TO REVERSING HEALTH DECLINE: HERE'S WHAT TO EAT"This is important because your gut is called your 'second brain,' as 80% of your nervous system and immune system live there."The mighty seeds are also packed with magnesium, which supports the brain and nervous system health; essential electrolytes like potassium, calcium and phosphorus; and omega-3 fatty acids that help lower inflammation, optimize brain function and can even help with depression and mood swings, Gioffre said.Alyssa Simpson, a registered dietitian and certified gastrointestinal nutritionist in Arizona, said she recommends chia seed water to her clients who can't tolerate high-fiber foods like beans or cruciferous vegetables. The chia seed water is lighter and easier to get down."As delicious as chia pudding can be, it is pretty rich and filling, and when your stomach's already feeling off, the last thing you want is a whole bowl of something like that," Simpson told Fox News Digital."It's a great entry point for people just learning to add fiber slowly."She has her clients ease into it by taking just 1 tablespoon at a time.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERThe key, she said, is to let the seeds soak for ideally 20 minutes."If you gulp it down without letting the seeds soak long enough, you might end up bloated, gassy or feeling backed up," Simpson said. That's because chia seeds soak up whatever liquid they're added to and if they aren't "hydrated" when you drink them, theyll soak up water in your gut instead. That can cause the opposite of the desired effect and even slow things down in the gut.For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"It would be like dumping oatmeal down a drain with no water running it's just going to clog things up," she added."Fiber needs fluid to help it move through your system; otherwise, it will just sit there like sludge."Slow and steady wins with fiber, Simpson advised.

Could underwater living be the next frontier for human habitats
As the world faces environmental challenges and seeks new opportunities, the idea of underwater living is gaining serious momentum. While lunar and Martian colonies make headlines, scientists and engineers are turning their attention to the ocean floor, a mysterious and untapped frontier much closer to home.NAVY'S NEXT-GENERATION SUBMARINE PROGRAM FACES ALARMING DELAY TO 2040Underwater habitats are not a new concept. In the 1960s, Jacques Cousteau built and lived in underwater modules, proving that humans could survive beneath the waves for short periods. Since 2001, NASA has been sending researchers to the Aquarius Reef Base off Florida's coast. There, they live and work for up to two weeks about 65 feet below the surface.Recent advances are making long-term underwater living a real possibility. British company DEEP is developing two modular habitats designed for extended stays. These habitats use advanced manufacturing methods such as Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing to build strong, efficient structures. These innovations help the units withstand the intense pressure of the deep sea.Living underwater is not easy. Humans need oxygen, sunlight and stable pressure. Yet, history shows we can adapt to extreme environments. For instance, astronauts have lived on the International Space Station for over a year at a time, dealing with challenges similar to those found underwater.Even so, recent experiments are encouraging. German engineer Rudiger Koch spent 120 days in a submerged capsule without health issues. Likewise, Professor Joseph Dituri lived 100 days underwater and emerged healthier, with better sleep, reduced cholesterol and even a younger biological age.The Vanguard underwater habitat is DEEP's innovative engineering prototype for advancing underwater living. Vanguard is a compact underwater module designed for short-term missions that can support three people at most. It lets DEEP test new designs and technologies in real-world conditions. It also helps the company gather valuable user feedback. The development of the Vanguard underwater habitat starts with dry assembly. All parts, including the wet porch and pressure vessel, are built, tested and put together on land. Then, the team conducts dry testing by pressurizing the vessel with air to check for leaks and confirm it can maintain the necessary ambient pressure.WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?After that, dockside testing begins. The habitat is placed in water beside a dock for gradual submersion, which makes it easy to test for water-tightness and electrical safety. Finally, the team conducts full underwater testing. In this phase, Vanguard operates on the seafloor and receives air, power, water, and communications from the surface. This final step offers key feedback on how people live and work in the habitat, helping DEEP improve Vanguard and design the larger Sentinel system.Success with the Vanguard underwater habitat will demonstrate what's achievable for underwater missions. It can reduce time, cost and weather risk for deep-sea operations. Moreover, it can unlock new discoveries beneath the waves.GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HEREThe larger Sentinel subsea habitat system offers comfortable living quarters, research facilities and panoramic views. It supports stays of up to 28 days at depths reaching 656 feet. By keeping researchers in a "saturated" state, DEEP reduces the risk of decompression sickness. This allows for longer and safer underwater residencies. According to the company's website, Sentinel is scheduled to be in the water by the end of 2027.These habitats will help scientists study both the ocean and the effects of extended underwater living. Ultimately, they mark an important milestone toward a permanent human presence beneath the sea.The ocean presents both immense challenges and incredible opportunities. As innovation continues, underwater living could become our next great frontier. We may soon witness the rise of permanent ocean habitats and with them, discoveries that transform our understanding of life on Earth.Would you be willing to trade sunlight to live beneath the sea? Joy Reid accuses 'cheap' Piers Morgan of ambushing her in new interview
Former MSNBC host Joy Reid accused Piers Morgan on Wednesday of ambushing her in a new interview and said the British media host was "obsessed" with race baiting for his "very White audience."On her podcast, "The Joy Reid Show," Reid laid into Morgan after she was soured by her experience as a guest commentator on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" the day before. Before the contentious was set to air on Thursday afternoon, Reid went on the offensive, accusing Morgan of "luring" her onto his show under the false premise that they would discuss her new YouTube show and the politics of the day. Instead, she said, his team had compiled pre-edited clips, dredged up past controversies, and confronted her with accusations that she was a race baiter."The interview, which drops [Thursday], was a cheap, sleazy, very Piers Morgan pivot to take the heat off of the right and Trump and put it right where the right needs to be, on the Black lady," Reid claimed.EX-MSNBC HOST JOY REID CLASHES WITH CNN PANEL AS SHE DEFENDS IRANReid said she believed it was important to talk to people on the other side. But she claimed that Morgan's team "lured" her onto the show with the idea they were going to have a fair discussion about President Donald Trump's policies and other news, as well as her new media show. Reid shared a screenshot of an e-mail as evidence of this. While she said she didn't expect Morgan to strictly stay on those topics, she also didn't expect the host to bring up her controversial blog posts from over 15 years ago or to ask her to respond in real-time to a conservative commentator who allegedly accused her of stoking racial hatred while she was at MSNBC.Reid viewed the interview as a racial attack."This was pre-planned because they had edited pieces ready for it," she said. "He never misses an opportunity to play gotcha with Black guests on his podcast, whom he, like other right-wing podcasters, use as fodder to keep their very White audiences angry and paranoid and clicking."In 2017, Reid's resurfaced blog posts from 2007-2009 containing offensive homophobic remarks and anti-gay jokes made headlines. Reid apologized at the time, although she also claimed hackers had placed the offending remarks on her old blog but later admitted she had no evidence that happened.JOY REID SAYS MSNBC FIRED HER WITHOUT WARNING, SPECULATES HER COVERAGE OF TRUMP, GAZA LED TO OUSTER"Dredging up an eight-year-old story about a 16-year-old blog post is a hell of a way to justify insanely offensive Nazi quoting things that your boy Donald Trump said and fascist actions his regime took like yesterday," Reid reacted. "Is that what your show has come to, Piers? Dredging up old news in an effort to make yourself relevant?"Reid claimed Morgan was "obsessed" with race and that he was forced out of his "Good Morning Britain" television gig over his "relentless, endless obsessive hatred of Megan Markle.""So, Piers, I did not get fired from MSNBC over ratings, but I would sure rather it be that than being separated from my show after a massive petition and viewers looked at me as a racist creep," she said. Her guest, Nina Turner, a former Ohio state lawmaker who co-chaired the 2020 presidential run of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was also a guest on the same episode of "Piers Morgan Uncensored." Turner ripped the interview as a "set up.""It was a jump. It was a jump on a Black woman. And I agree with you. They're the ones that are preoccupied with race," she said of conservative media personalities.Morgan responded to Reid's claims on X."BREAKING: I interviewed Joy Reid last night. It did not go well for Joy Reid. In fact, it went so badly for her that shes already gone public about how terrible it was, and I am. Apparently, Im obsessed with race & identity politics," he said with a laughing emoji.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPMorgan's representatives referred Fox News Digital to his social media comments and said he would address the controversy on his upcoming show.

Temu sued by Kentucky for allegedly giving China unfettered access to user data
FIRST ON FOX: Kentuckys attorney general filed a lawsuit Thursday against e-commerce giant Temu, alleging that its app illegally gives the Chinese government access to Americans user data and that the company lifts intellectual property from U.S.-owned companies. In a complaint filed in Woodford County Circuit Court, state attorneys asked for an injunction against Temu, an Amazon rival with a China-originating parent company, for what they described as "multifold" harms.Kentucky investigators identified "code-level behaviors" in the Temu app that involved the collection of users' sensitive personal data in a manner that was not secure, in violation of state consumer protection laws, the attorneys said.PRESSURE FROM SHEIN, TEMU ACCELERATE RETAIL CLOSURES"These privacy and security harms are compounded both because the Temu app is purposely designed to evade detection and because Defendants by their own [acknowledgment] have a portion of their operations located on mainland China, where cybersecurity laws allow the government unfettered access to data owned by Chinese businesses whenever it wishes," the attorneys wrote. The complaint alleged that Temu improperly collects users' Wi-Fi and GPS information, as well as camera data without appropriate permission. The attorneys also alleged that Temu brazenly sells products using stolen intellectual property of large and small brands, including that of Kentuckys historic horse racetrack in Louisville."As of the date of this filing, Temu features dozens of what appear to be unlicensed products claiming to be from Kentucky brands like the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, Buffalo Trace Distillery and Churchill Downs," the complaint reads.TEMU, SHEIN TO RAISE PRICES FOR US CONSUMERS STARTING NEXT WEEK AS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CLOSES TARIFF LOOPHOLETemus parent company is PDD Holdings, which originated in China but moved to Ireland. Before launching Temu in the United States in 2022, PDD Holdings founded Temus sister company, Pinduoduo, a Chinese online retailer.Temu has become known for its heavily discounted products and aggressive advertising strategy, which included three multimillion-dollar animated Super Bowl ads last year. Temu was Apple's most downloaded free app in 2023, according to TechCrunch.Temu's tagline is "Shop like a billionaire," though its pricing structure has in recent months been disrupted by Trump's trade war with China.Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said the company's "cheap products and flashy marketing" distract from more insidious problems."Their platform can infect Kentuckians devices with malware, steal their personal data and send it directly to the Chinese government," Coleman, an elected Republican and former U.S. attorney, said in a statement. "At the same time, theyre eroding trust in some of Kentuckys most iconic brands, which could lead to job losses and hardship."The lawsuit is the latest instance of Temu coming under scrutiny, mainly by Republicans, for its ties to China, a top U.S. adversary. Last year, 20 GOP state attorneys general demanded information from Temu's ownership about allegations brought by Congress that its China-based suppliers used forced labor. Temu denied the claim at the time.Fox News Digital reached out to Temu for comment.

Sen.Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., condemned the controversial "globalize the intifada" rhetoric plaguing NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's campaign, while also hailing that big businesses "are freaking out" about the democratic socialist."What do you think of you know, he was asked repeatedly to condemn or whether he would condemn this phrase, Globalize the intifada," "Squawk Box" co-host Andrew Ross Sorkin asked Warren Thursday on CNBC."Obviously, there are a lot of Jews Im Jewish live in New York City," Sorkin added. Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell fires back after Dave Navarro sued him over violent onstage attack
Jane's Addiction is taking their feud to court. On Wednesday, guitarist Dave Navarro, along with bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, filed a $10 million lawsuit against frontman Perry Farrell, accusing him of assault and battery after an onstage altercation in September 2024. The same day, Farrell filed a countersuit, alleging a "yearslong bullying campaign" against him by the other band members. The singer claimed he was blindsided by the other members' decision to cancel the remaining 15 shows of the tour and break up following the 2024 incident.JANE'S ADDICTION CANCELS TOUR AFTER DAVE NAVARRO, PERRY FARRELL'S ONSTAGE FIGHTFarrell claimed Navarro, Avery and Perkins are to blame for the escalating tensions and violence that erupted during the bands tour."Navarro, Avery and Perkins apparently decided," the lawsuit stated, "that Janes Addictions decades of success should be jettisoned in pursuit of a yearslong bullying campaign against Farrell involving harassing him onstage during performances, including, among other tactics, trying to undermine him by playing their instruments at a high volume so that he could not hear himself sing."Farrell alleged that Navarro and Avery actually assaulted him, turning the stage into a toxic environment, and said the situation went from hostile to defamatory when the other members of the band publicly accused him of struggling with mental health issues in the aftermath of the altercation.Meanwhile, Navarro sued Farrell for assault and battery following an incident that took place mid-concert during a stop on the band's reunion tour last September. In court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Navarro, Avery and Perkins accused Farrell of assaulting Navarro both on stage and backstage on Sept. 13, 2024. They stated that they suffered financial losses after the incident led to the cancellation of the tour and their planned album.According to the documents, they claimed that they "were forced to bring this action" after Farrell "ruthlessly assaulted Navarro onstage, mid-show, during the Janes Addiction 33-date North American reunion tour.""As if the pain and humiliation of the onstage attack were not enough, Farrell continued his unhinged barrage of punches backstage (collectively, the 'Attack')," the lawsuit continued. "The Attack, which was virally viewed by millions of people worldwide, was brutal and unprovoked. It quickly forced the termination of the show and eventually the entire Tour."During the Sept. 13 concert, videos taken by fans showed Farrell approaching Navarro, seemingly upset. He shoved Navarro with his shoulder, then advanced on him. Navarro held him back with a forearm to his chest, but Farrell threw a punch before one of the band's techs intervened. The incident marked a "terminal inflection point" for Jane's Addiction, the documents continued, which was formed by Perry, Navarro, Avery and Perkins in 1985.The 2024 reunion tour marked the first time that the band's four original members had performed together since 2010. According to court documents, the reunion tour had sold over 100,000 tickets before its 15 remaining dates were canceled on Sept. 16, 2024, three days after the incident at the show in Boston, Massachusetts.Jane's Addiction announced the tour's cancellation in a statement that read in part, "Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs."Per the lawsuit, Farrell issued a statement in a since-deleted Instagram post on the day of the tour's cancellation."This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Fridays show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation," he wrote, according to the documents. At the time, Farrell shared a matching statement with Fox News Digital.According to the lawsuit, the band's new album was also derailed as a result of the incident. Per the documents, Jane's Addiction had completed two songs including "Imminent Redemption" and "True Love," both of which were released as singles, for the planned 12-track record.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS"It is now impossible, as a result of the conduct by Defendant set forth above (and through no fault of Plaintiffs), for the Band to complete a 12-track album," the documents read.In addition to assault and battery, Navarro joined Avery and Perkins in suing Farrell for intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and indemnity and contribution. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Navarro's attorney, Christopher Frost, said, "In 2024 the four 'original' members of Janes Addiction came together, against all odds, with a new tour and new music. Persuaded by Perry Farrell to revive the legendary configuration of the band, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins had high hopes that they could capture the pure spirit of the bands early days and build on it.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"Initially they did, in the studio and onstage," Frost continued. "But, as our lawsuit explains, they did so with a fourth bandmate who was by turns unwilling or unable to perform to a reasonable standard and who repeatedly threatened to derail the tour."Ultimately, with the attack on Dave Navarro seen around the world, Perry Farrell abruptly and unilaterally ended all the plans for a Janes Addiction revival. He also left his bandmates holding the bag for an unfulfilled tour and record deal, as our lawsuit explains in detail. Dave, Eric, and Stephen never wanted it to come to this. But they have been wronged, want the accurate story told, and they deserve a resolution."Meanwhile, a representative for Farrell shared a statement with People which read, "This is yet another clear example of the group uniting to isolate and bully frontman Perry Farrell. The timing of this baseless lawsuit is no coincidence it was filed only after they caught wind of legal action coming from our side.""Its a transparent attempt to control the narrative and present themselves as the so-called good guys a move thats both typical and predictable," the statement continued. "Just like when they released a defamatory and entirely unfounded statement about Perrys mental health and unilaterally canceled the remaining tour dates without his input, theyre once again scrambling to get ahead of the truth in a desperate effort to save face."

Did they find out -- unbeknownst to themselves -- that they are on the list?REPUBLICANS FIXATED ON EPSTEIN ARE GETTING 'DUPED' BY DEMOCRATS, TRUMP INSISTSCould there be some plausible explanation as to why they are playing their cards close to the vest for the time being, or is the fact that they're doing so proof that they are suddenly embroiled in corruption? That is not plausible to me. I don't think these people changed their stripes that quickly. And I don't think my willingness to trust them -- makes me an enabler of corruption or perversion.Back to Trump. If he were implicated the Dems would have crucified him when they had sole possession of the materials -- files, list or no list. You know it. I know it.But now people who have doggedly supported him even through tougher times are turning on him and piling on with the opportunistic Democrats who heretofore haven't given two shakes about any of this.MAGA WORLD ERUPTS OVER TRUMP'S DEFENSE OF BONDI AMID EPSTEIN FILES FALLOUTNone of us knows the full story yet. None of us knows yet why the administration hasn't done a better job explaining or at least that they'll be able to tell us more later. But it seems many have so much invested in believing the worst about this -- that Epstein was the leader or at the center of a Robert Ludlum-level international conspiracy -- that they can't let it go. It's as if their worldview will crumble if their worst suspicions aren't vindicated. And if Trump and his administration happen to be in office when this whole thing fizzles, then they too must have been mysteriously drawn into this conspiracy that is too powerful even for the fiercest of otherwise moral mortals. In the meantime, Trump's heyday is being rained on and he feels betrayed by a bunch of supporters who in turn feel that he's betrayed them.Well, I'm just asking for a little grace on both sides, especially the supporters who should at least give Trump, Bongino, Patel, and even Bondi some trust here before throwing them to the dogs. There has to be more to the story -- or possibly way less to the story.BONDI SHOULD RELEASE 'CREDIBLE' EPSTEIN FILES, TRUMP SAYSButAnd I repeat -- no way in hell am I defending the protection or insulation of pedophiles or corruption. Trump's policies on the border alone have burnished his credentials as an enemy of trafficking and pedophilia. (I'm not intending to conflate the different issues, but he deserves major credit for that). And as dramatic and juicy as it sounds, I do not believe Occams razor leads to the conclusion that the administration is concealing these "files" or lists because to disclose them would implicate all kinds of world leaders and lead to the downfall of civilization. Sorry folks. Just not buying it.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONI could very well be wrong about all of this, which goes without saying. But can some of Trump's latter-day critics make the same disclaimer? Will they? Or are they sure they know this is the worst thing that's ever happened and they now know that the deep state is so deep that it drills all the way down to China and encompasses Trump and his administration?I'm not being sarcastic and I'll allow as how the administration hasn't handled this adroitly. But I seriously doubt that if they are concealing anything it is because they are in any way involved in corruption. If they are holding back serious information, I have to assume they have a darned good reason for doing so, even if in the end, they are wrong. I also suspect we'll learn more sooner rather than later (I hate that Clinton-born phrase). We have a country to save and we need to remember that -- which, again, is not to say, "Let's close our eyes to massive corruption because the end justifies the means." Rather, it is to say, we have a country to save and the government officials we're entrusting to do that as our representatives are probably not doing anything wrong here -- and you should strongly consider that.So many people I respect, I'm sure radically disagree with me here, but that doesn't make me disrespect them or judge them -- as I suspect many of them might judge me for my stance here. But I can live with that, and in good conscience. And at least, in humility, I will say I don't know and can't yet know all that's involved and until I have more information in the fullness of time I'm going to trust the people I trust -- and they've repeatedly earned that trust -- beyond my wildest expectations in fact.Theyve accomplished things I would never have thought possible, much less in such a short period of time, from the dismantling of the administrative state and the Department of Education, to the emasculation of Iran's nukes in a courageous, bold, and spectacular military operation, to the sealing of a seemingly irreversibly porous border, to the unleashing of our deliberately suppressed energy sector, to the taming of inflation while growing the economy again, to the resurrection of the military with explosive recruitment numbers, to launching ambitious but achievable defense systems to protect our homeland, to the DOGE focus on waste, fraud and corruption, to the defunding of Ivy League institutions, to the successful championing of women in womens sports, to tariff revenues, to earning once again the respect of foreign leaders and persuading NATO to contribute their fair share, to major steps toward peace around the world, to restoring respect for America as once again the true leader of the free world. And so much more.God bless you all.We presumably want the same things -- except those who would exploit this issue, or any others for their self-aggrandizement.
