WWW.FOXNEWS.COMLongtime '60 Minutes' correspondent Steve Kroft, Jon Stewart bash CBS Trump settlement as shakedownLongtime "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Kroft and "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart bashed Paramount Global and CBS eight-figure settlement with President Donald Trump as giving into a "shakedown" on Monday.Kroft appeared on Paramount-owned Comedy Central to discuss the settlement with Stewart, who didnt pull punches when discussing his own employer. Kroft, who retired from the show in 2019 after a 30-year run, said his former colleagues are devastated that CBS and its parent company settled Trumps "election interference" lawsuit."I think there is a lot of fear over there fear of losing their job, fear of whats happening to the country, fear of losing the First Amendment," Kroft said.PARAMOUNT, CBS FORCED TO PAY EIGHT FIGURES, CHANGE EDITORIAL POLICY IN SETTLEMENT WITH PRESIDENT TRUMPThe lawsuit alleged CBS News deceitfully edited a "60 Minutes" interview last year with then-Vice PresidentKamala Harrisin order to make her appear more articulate ahead of Election Day.Many legal experts and Paramounts own attorneys insisted the lawsuit was meritless, but CBS parent company settled it anyway.Kroft and Stewart insisted that "60 Minutes" did nothing wrong and emphasized that CBS didnt issue an apology as part of the settlement."They never said, We screwed up, they just paid the money," Kroft said."It was a shakedown. Thats what I call it," he continued. "Some people call it extortion."Paramount's controlling shareholder Shari Redstone reportedly pushed for the settlement in hopes of paving the way for Trumps FCC to approve a long-planned, lucrative merger with David Ellisons Skydance Media.Fox News Digitalhas learned that the sum being paid to Trump could reach north of $30 million, with $16 million being paid upfront for his future presidential library, in addition to another eight-figure allocation set aside for advertisements, public service announcements or other similar transmissions, in support of conservative causes paid for by the networks incoming ownership in the future.FAIR ELECTION FUND URGES FCC TO HOLD CBS ACCOUNTABLE FOR 'UNLAWFUL CONDUCT RELATED TO 60 MINUTES INTERVIEWStewart asked Kroft if the settlement was simply a payment designed in order to push the merger through. The "60 Minutes" icon suggested Redstone "wanted the sale to go through" so she could pocket roughly $2 billion, but Trump planned to "settle a score.""He was upset with 60 Minutes, and he decided he was going to sue," Kroft said."So the implication is, you dont get your $8 billion merger, you dont get your $2 billion payout unless you give me a tremendous amount of money," Stewart responded."That strikes me as and Im obviously not a lawyer but I did watch Goodfellas, that sounds illegal," Stewart said.Kroft shot back, "Yes, it does."'60 MINUTES' KAMALA HARRIS INTERVIEW AT CENTER OF TRUMP LAWSUIT RUNS AFOUL OF CRONKITE-ERA CBS GUIDELINESParamount has defended the settlement."Companies often settle litigation to avoid the high and somewhat unpredictable costs of legal defense, the risk of an adverse judgment that could result in significant financial or reputational damage, and the disruption to business operations that prolonged legal battles can cause. Settlement offers a negotiated resolution that allows companies to focus on their core objectives rather than being mired in uncertainty and distraction," a Paramount spokesperson told Fox News Digital.ABC alsosettled a defamation lawsuitin December with then-President-elect Trump for $15 million, after anchor George Stephanopoulos repeatedly and incorrectly asserted Trump had been found "liable for rape" in a civil trial last year. ABC additionally paid $1 million for President Trumps legal fees.0 Comments 0 Shares 35 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMNew book reveals what top ex-Biden aide was thinking during disastrous debatePresident Joe Biden's former chief of staff and a fixture of his re-election campaign, Ron Klain, privately announced during Biden's disastrous debate performance: "Were f---ed.""2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America," a new book released Tuesday by journalists Josh Dawsey of The Wall Street Journal, Tyler Pager of The New York Times and Isaac Arnsdor of The Washington Post, is the latest analysis of how Biden lost the White House. The authors described how, during the June 2024 debate, "Bidens aides winced as the president started answering the first question about the economy and voters who felt they were worse off under his presidency."And backstage, as Biden stumbled over an answer that questionably ended with, "We finally beat Medicare," back in the holding room, Klain stood up and announced, "Were f---ed," according to the authors.BIDEN AIDES PUSHED FOR EARLY DEBATE TO SHOW OFF BIDENS STRENGTH, EXPOSE TRUMPS WEAKNESS, BOOK SAYSMike Donilon, Bruce Reed and Klain were among those leading Biden's final prep ahead of the debate, according to the book.FLASHBACK: THE DEBATE NIGHT AGAINST TRUMP THAT THREW BIDEN'S REELECTION CAMPAIGN INTO A FREE FALLDespite Klain expressing doubt internally, Klain continued to defend the president amid calls from donors and politicians for Biden to step down.On June 30, 2024, Klain reshared an X post that urged Americans to ignore the "news reports" with "anonymous sources about Dem donors calling for Biden to withdraw.""We are the Democratic Party! These people don't get to decide to oust a pro-labor pro-people President," Klain said on July 4, 2024, in response to The New York Times reporting about the Democrats' pressure campaign against Biden.According to the book, after the debate, Klain called Jeff Zients, his successor as Biden's chief of staff, to say he was "disturbed that Biden was planning to spend the weekend at Camp David.""We have an emergency," Klain told Zients, according to the book. "We have a crisis on Capitol Hill, and the crisis is going to accelerate."But Zients insisted Biden was going to Camp David to be with his family, instead of Klain's plan to appease the progressive wing of the party with a bold second-term agenda."I have no f---ing clue why hes going to Camp David this weekend," Klain said, according to the authors. "He needs to be working the phones, day and night."Even before the debate, when concerns about the first octogenarian president's ability to lead the country through a second term came to a boiling point, Klain had concerns, as portrayed in the book.Klain had overseen debate prep for every Democratic presidential candidate since 2004, according to the authors. Between Biden's cold, a shorter prep window than usual and staffers privately expressing concern, debate prep in Camp David did not quite go as planned, the authors claimed."This is going to be really touch and go in Atlanta," Klain told Donilon and Reed ahead of the debate, according to the book.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital has written extensively dating back to the 2020 presidential campaign about Biden's cognitive decline and his inner circles alleged role in covering it up.When reached for comment, Klain told Fox News Digital, "I have nothing to add."Biden did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.0 Comments 0 Shares 36 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWNBA player lashed out at reporter for asking about Caitlin Clark eye-poking incident, new book revealsDiJonai Carrington found herself in headlines last season when she accidentally poked Caitlin Clark in the eye,When she was asked about it by USA Today's Christine Brennan, it turned into a war of words. The Women's National Basketball Players' Association issued a scathing statement, calling out Brennan by name over an interview with Carrington that the union claimed fueled "racist, homophobic and misogynistic vitriol" online.Brennnan asked Carrington, who was on the Connecticut Sun at the time, whether she intended to hit Clark in the eye after the video, and whether she and Marina Mabry, who recently shoved Clark to the ground in a game, made fun of the incident afterward. Carrington denied both were the truth.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMHowever, another one of Clark's rivals, DeWanna Bonner, confronted Brennan just minutes after her back and forth with Carrington, Brennan revealed in her new book "On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women's Sports."Bonner, who was Carrington's teammate on the Sun at the time, approached Brennan saying that she had "attacked" and "disrespected" Carrington. She used both accusations twice each.Brennan said she tried to introduce herself to Bonner, and even offered Bonner the chance to listen to their exchange but Bonner apparently wanted no part.Brennan then said she texted then-Sun head coach Stephanie White, now Clark's coach with the Indiana Fever, to let her know of the situation, which she called "journalism 101." She also said in the book that a WNBA official told her that her questions were "fine."FEVER-WINGS 'SEQUEL' RELOCATED TO 20,000-SEAT ARENA AS CAITLIN CLARK, PAIGE BUECKERS SET TO FACE EACH OTHER"Unfortunately, most of our players have zero idea what real media exposure is," the official admitted to Brennan, according to the author. "They dont know what real coverage is, they have been shielded at college and then they come to the WNBA not knowing what real questions are. Frankly, our players just dont get it."Brennan said Carrington also took issue with reporters, including herself, the next day, claiming they were "talking s---" about NaLyssa Smith, her partner who just so happened to be on the Fever. Brennan claimed the two other reporters were simply discussing "a bit of a Fever strategy that had just noticed on the court."Smith confronted Brennan, who told Smith she didn't say anything negative, but Smith said she was "lying," Brennan wrote in the book.Bonner signed a one-year deal with the Fever during the offseason, but was waived after it was reported she had "no interest" in playing for them anymore.Carrington and Smith appeared to joke about the eye-poking incident during an Instagram Live video in October.Fox News' Paulina Dedaj contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Comments 0 Shares 52 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMAirline passenger claims thieves are using discarded bag tags for fraud schemeA Reddit user claiming to be an airline employee is warning travelers about the possibility of being scammed when it comes to their printed bag tags.Posted in the "r/delta" forum on Reddit, the message is titled, "Toss your bag tags at home."The Reddit user claimed to be a "baggage claims manager." The individual wanted to "let everyone know to please start discarding your bag tags at home."TSA REVEALS THE SURPRISING REASON PEOPLE MIGHT SET OFF SECURITY ALARMS DURING SCREENING"We are getting an influx of fraudulent claims being submitted for missing items as these people are observing who is removing their luggage tags in the claim areas and using your information to submit claims for reimbursement," the user claims. The post continued, "From my own personal experience [of] currently dealing with this, it is causing issue[s] with reimbursing the real people if they submit a legitimate claim.""So please be careful and dont take your tags off at the airport," the person concluded. "They can steal enough information from that to use your travel itinerary to get paid."Many flight passengers took to the comments section to debate whether this could be possible sharing their own thoughts.PASSENGER'S REVENGE ON 'ENTITLED' WOMAN SPARKS HEATED DEBATE ABOUT AIRPLANE ETIQUETTE"Clearly my strategy of forgetting to remove the tag until its time for my next trip is paying off," commented one user.Another agreed, saying, "I actually leave my tag on my bag until my next trip myself.""I always tossed them at home, not because I'm conscious [of it] but I'm kinda forgetful," one Redditor wrote.Another flyer said, "Japan had secured bag tag disposal receptacles near the secured exit of baggage claim This explains why."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER"Do one better. SHRED your bag tags and printed boarding passes as soon as you can after getting to your destination," one person wrote.Yet another Redditor said, "Because my full name is on it, Ive always discarded them at home."The original poster shared the belief that others could scam passengers."A bag tag only consists of the name, flight[s] and confirmation number outside of the tag itself," the person wrote. "They make an email address with that persons name in it, a random phone number and a random address and submit the claim."Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel industry expertand author of the blog "View From the Wing," told Fox News Digital he does not see the scam being that prevalent. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"You should keep the bag tag attached until any baggage issues are fully resolved, then discard it at home," said Leff."That said, this doesn't strike me as plausibly a high-volume, common scam."Leff said tags carry limited information, such as a last name, flight number and a specific bag tag number. He pointed out the tags do not commonly have a ticket number or street address."Bags are scanned. Each scan from checkin to baggage belt is logged. If a scammer files a missing bag claim where the system shows it was delivered, that's going to be a flag, especially when this happens at scale," said Leff."The most common thing is filing lost bag claims for items that were actually delivered, which I've written about a couple of times," he added.0 Comments 0 Shares 32 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMHawley rebukes Democrats' heated rhetoric after attacks on ICE, border patrol facilities: 'Knock it off'Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., had harsh words for Democratic colleagues employing heated rhetoric against immigration enforcement officers Tuesday following recent attacks on ICE and Border Patrol facilities in Texas.Hawley told Fox News Digital in an interview that lawmakers need to turn their focus back to the needs of their constituents, rather than trying to make flash-in-the-pan headlines. He specifically called out Democrats who have criticized ICE officers for wearing masks during their operations. Rep.Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., accused officers of acting "like a terrorist force""Knock it off," Hawley told his Democratic colleagues on Tuesday. "These are the same people who were in favor of masking our children. I don't want to hear anything about ICE officers masking from them."ICE AGENT SHARES FEARS ABOUT FAMILY SAFETY AS ASSAULTS ON OFFICIALS SURGE"We have a lot of rebuilding to do in America," he added.Hawley's statement came just minutes after he touted the passage of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act as part of President Donald Trump's Big, Beautiful Bill. Hawley helped shepherd the legislation alongside staunch Democrats like former Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and members of the NAACP, among others. His words echoed the sentiment expressed by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday, who urged Democrats to cool off their rhetoric.DHS: ASSAULTS ON ICE NOW UP NEARLY 700% OVER SAME TIME LAST YEARLeavitt urged Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to set up a meeting with ICE and CBP agents."We certainly call on Democrats to tone down their rhetoric against ICE and Border Patrol agents, who, again, are everyday men and women. I would encourage AOC and other Democrats to actually meet with the United States Border Patrol," Leavitt told reporters Monday."These are honorable Americans who are just simply trying to do their job to enforce the law. They go home to their families every night, just like we all do, and they deserve respect and dignity for trying to enforce our nation's immigration laws and to remove public safety threats from our communities," she added. The conversation over Democratic rhetoric erupted in recent days after a pair of attacks on ICE and Border Patrol facilities in Texas.Agents and local police shot and killed the gunman who opened fire on Border Patrol agents in Texas' Rio Grande Valley Monday, according to Department of Homeland Security officials. No officers were killed in the attack but one local police officer was shot. That attack came on the heels of another shooting near ICE's Prairieland Detention Facility on Friday, where a Texas police officer was shot in the neck.Fox News' Diana Stancy contributed to this report0 Comments 0 Shares 39 Views 0 Reviews
