Jennifer Sey calls out California gov as trans athlete set to compete for girls' state titles
XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey talked Tuesday about the biological male who is set to compete for a girls state championship in long jump and track and field in California. The junior from Jurupa Valley High School finished in first place in both events at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Masters. The athlete has been at the center of a national controversy as the athletics association refused to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order to bar males from girls and womens sports. This weekend, the athlete has a chance to win a state title.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"Were all just so tired of it," Sey said on "Fox & Friends." "Two months ago, Gavin Newsom said it was unfair for boys to compete in girls sports but hes done nothing about it. Actions speak louder than words here."Sey lamented that the second-place finisher, Kaylee Best, did not have the chance to stand on top of the podium in either event."Its ridiculous. He has male advantage," Sey added. "He shouldnt be allowed to compete in girls (sports). And, according to the executive order, hes not but California is ignoring it."Trump on Tuesday threatened to cut off federal funding to California and get authorities involved if the CIF allowed the athlete to participate in the state championship. Newsom previouslytalked about transgender participationin girls sports back in March with prominent conservative Charlie Kirk."The young man who's about to win the state championship in the long jump in female sports, that shouldn't happen," Kirk said. "You, as the governor, should step out and say no. Would you do something like that? Would you say no men infemale sports?"TRUMP THREATENS TO PULL FEDERAL FUNDING FROM CALIFORNIA OVER TRANS ATHLETE CONTROVERSY AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP"I think its an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness its deeply unfair," Newsom told Kirk. "I am not wrestling with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you."Kirk pressed Newsom on whether he would condemn the athlete in question from Jurupa Valley High School after the athlete won another event at the time. Newsom did not directly address the win but said "its a fairness issue.""So, that's easy to call out the unfairness of that," he said. "There's also a humility and a grace. These poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety and depression. And the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard time with as well."So, both things I can hold in my hand. How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think, you know, is inherent in you but not always expressed on the issue?"Newsom further explained his point of view in a press conference on April 2 when asked whether there should be a law to prohibit males from competing in girls and womens sports."And I'm about as transparent about this as anybody out there, particularly in my party, on this, and to the extent someone can and do it in a way that's respectful and responsible and could find a kind of balance, then I'm open to that discussion. ... You're talking about a very small number of people, a very small number of athletes, and my responsibility is to address the pressing issues of our time."And this, I think, has been colored in and weaponized by the right to be 10 times, 100 times bigger than it is and so my focus is on a myriad of other issues in this state. And to the extent that someone could find that right balance, I would embrace those conversations and the dignity that hopefully presents themselves in that conversation, meaning the humanity around that conversation, not the politics around that conversation."Trumps administration has already warned the CIF and the athletes high school of consequences for allowing the situation. The federation came under additional scrutiny when its officials allegedly forced athletes toremove shirtsthat read "Protect Girls Sports" at the Southern Sectional prelims on May 10.Fox News Jackson Thompson contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Man escapes Louisiana jail for 2nd time as separate manhunt for New Orleans inmates continues
Amid the ongoing manhunt for five escaped Orleans Parish Correctional Facility inmates, a repeat escapee broke out of another jail in a nearby Louisiana parish. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) said that Tra'Von Johnson, 19, had escaped from the jail on Thursday afternoon when another inmate helped lift him over the perimeter fence.Johnson, who is awaiting trial in connection with a deadly 2022 home invasion, also escaped from the same jail in May of last year, according to a TPSO Facebook post.He was recaptured Friday just a few miles away from the jail, according to the sheriff's office.NEW ORLEANS JAIL INMATES CHARGED WITH MURDER AND OTHER CRIMES ESCAPETangipahoa Parish is about 80 miles from Orleans Parish, where 10 inmates escaped from jail on May 16, sparking a manhunt by 200 state, local and federal law enforcement agents. That manhunt is still underway. The sheriff's office said that Johnson escaped at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and that it did not learn of the escape until about 10 p.m. It became aware of the escape only after receiving "a call from the public questioning whether Johnson was still in custody.""TPSO engaged its partner law enforcement agencies to assist with not only locating Johnson, but also alerting victims and communicating with Johnsons relatives and known associates," the sheriff's office said in the Facebook post. "At the same time, jail staff confirmed Johnson was the only inmate missing and the investigation into the escape, from beginning to end, began."Johnson and two others allegedly involved in the home invasion, along with a fourth person, escaped from the jail on May 26, 2024 after breaching a "vulnerable section of the perimeter fence," Fox 8 reported at the time. While authorities search for Johnson, they also continue to search for two inmates, including a four-time convicted killer, who escaped New Orleans' primary jail on May 16.Ten men are accused of removing a toilet from their cell in the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility, cutting a hole in the wall and running through an unoccupied corridor, eventually hopping the jail's fence to freedom. In that case, too, jail authorities were unaware of the escape until about several hours after it occurred, sparking questions about the competency of law enforcement officials, including Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office (OPSO) Sheriff Susan Hutson. On Thursday, Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams blasted Hutson, whom he said neglected to order a complete investigation into the prison cell crime scene."Time is also of the essence when trying to get good DNA samples or collect fingerprints to make sure those areas are not molested or destroyed in any way," he said during a news conference. "So I am deeply concerned that there was not an immediate request by the sheriff to our local crime lab to get in there and examine, document, preserve and collect all of the forensic evidence that was available there so that we could already have it tested."DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS DEMAND LOUISIANA SHERIFF RESIGN AFTER 10 INMATES ESCAPE JAILSo far, 13 people have been arrested for allegedly aiding the 10 escapees, including 33-year-old Sterling Williams, the OPSO employee who served as a maintenance worker in the jail. He was charged with 10 counts of principal to simple escape and one count of malfeasance in office and is being held on $1.1 million bond.An inmate inside the jail, 23-year-old Trevon Williams, has been rebooked on 10 counts of principal to simple escape for allegedly giving the escapees a blanket and shirt to help them hop the razor-wire fence during their escape. While Sterlin and Trevon Williams are accused of helping from the inside, several others are accused of helping the escapees after they broke out.Over the weekend, 28-year-old Lenika Vanburen, 18-year-old Patricia Vanburen, 27-year-old Tyshanea "Minnie" Randolph, 47-year-old Lenton Vanburen Sr. and 40-year-old Angel McKey were arrested for allegedly aiding escapee Lenton Vanburen. Vanburen Sr. is Vanburen's father, a source confirmed to Fox News.Emmitt Weber, 28, was also arrested for helping two of the inmates after the escape. So was Casey Smith, 30, who reportedly admitted to driving some of the inmates around New Orleans after they escaped.Last week, two women, Cortnie Harris, 32, and Corvanntay Baptiste, 38, were also arrested for assisting the fugitives. They are also being held at the Plaquemines County Jail. Harris is being held on a $2.5 million bond, and Baptiste on a $1 million bond.Harris is accused of transporting some of the escapees to locations throughout New Orleans after the escape, and Baptiste is accused of being in contact with escapee Corey Boyd and bringing him food after the escape.LOUISIANA GOVERNOR BLASTS 'PROGRESSIVE PROMISES' AFTER NEW ORLEANS JAIL ESCAPESources close to the investigation told Fox News that Baptiste is the girlfriend of now-recaptured Boyd, who is accused of second-degree murder, and Harris is the girlfriend of Leo Tate, who is still on the run.On Thursday night, the Louisiana State Police announced that it had arrested Connie Weeden, 59, who allegedly sent cash to fugitive Jermaine Donald via a cellphone app.She was charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center. After a volley of arrests Monday, three more of the escaped inmates are back in custody.Vanburen was arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will face new charges related to his escape, along with prior charges of parole violation, possession of firearm by felon, and illegal carrying of a weapon.Fellow jail breakers Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were arrested in Walker County, Texas, by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Louisiana State Police said the duo led Texas police on a high-speed chase before they were taken into custody. The following five inmates remain on the run:Fox News Digital reached out to the Louisiana State Police and Attorney General Liz Murrill's office.Fox News' Louis Casiano, Christina Shaw and Nate Foy contributed to this report.

Jasmine Crockett shares bizarre song clip calling herself 'leader of the future'
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, appears to be leaning in on her rising political stardom this week, briefly sharing what appeared to be a fan-made song that referred to the Democratic firebrand as the "leader of the future.""Jasmine Crockett, she rises with the dawn. Fighting for justice, her light will never be gone," the song went. "A voice for the people, standing strong and proud. Infectious with passion, she'll never bow down. Leader of the future, she's breaking all the chains. Jasmine you rock girl, keep leading the fight."The roughly two-minute-long song was set against what appeared to be photos of Crockett that were lightly animated using artificial intelligence (AI). It ended with a minute of Crockett's own comments at a recent House hearing.HOUSE GOP TARGETS ANOTHER DEM OFFICIAL ACCUSED OF BLOCKING ICE AMID DELANEY HALL FALLOUTFox News Digital observed the video on Crockett's Instagram Story, where users post highlights that normally disappear after 24 hours. It was also visible on her Instagram Reels tab. Crockett's official House of Representatives account was listed as a co-author alongside another Instagram account that appears to specialize in AI-generated musical video clips.Crockett's account notes that posts are made by her staff unless the letters "CWC" are present. Her account appears to have shared, but not originally posted the video. Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett's office to ask if she took any part in creating or sanctioning the post. After Fox News Digital's inquiry, mention of the video disappeared from Crockett's page."A beacon of hope, we know you won't deceive," the song continued at another point. "Democratic champion, her mission's loud and clear. For every single citizen, she'll always be near. No MAGA could silence the truth she displays. Jasmine, you rock girl, keep leading the fight."MEET THE TRUMP-PICKED LAWMAKERS GIVING SPEAKER JOHNSON A FULL HOUSE GOP CONFERENCECrockett has garnered a notable fan base among the progressive left since bursting on the national stage just over two years ago.She has been known for public comments that have pushed the boundaries of congressional decorum and have even earned her censure threats from her Republican colleagues in the House.Crockett garnered controversy in late March for referring to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is in a wheelchair, as "Governor Hot Wheels." She later clarified in a statement that she "wasn't thinking about the governor's condition," but she did not apologize. She also appeared to cash in on a spat she was part of during a House Oversight Committee hearing last year, when her response to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., claiming Crockett had "fake eyelashes," was to mock Greene as having a "bleach blonde bad built butch body."Crockett later moved to trademark the phrase through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Red state official recounts personal experience of being 'debanked' and why it 'has to be stopped'
EXCLUSIVE:Protecting Americans from being "debanked" has been a top priority for the State Financial Officers Foundation, and Fox News Digital spoke to a member of that organization, who said he was targeted himself, about the importance of that pursuit."When I was initially debanked, I didn't realize I was getting debanked," Alabama Republican State Auditor Andrew Sorrell told Fox News Digital at the State Financial Officers Foundation conference in Orlando, Florida."What happened was I just get a letter one day from our credit card company, from my gun store, Gold Guns and Guitars, and we get this curious letter in the mail, and it says that in 30 days, we're closing your account. And it didn't tell us why at all."Sorrell, 39, explained that at first he thought that his company had simply forgotten to pay their bills, but when he realized he was up-to-date, he switched credit card companies and did not think anything of it until he got another letter from his credit card processor notifying him he was being dropped.RED STATE TREASURER REVEALS WHY STATE FINANCIAL OFFICERS HAVE 'OBLIGATION' TO COMBAT ESG, DEI"So we're doing about 2 million dollars in revenue, about a million and a half of that is done by credit card or debit card transactions, and I was really confused this time, because why would a credit card processor drop us?" Sorrell explained. After that, Sorrell was told by his insurance company he was being dropped with "no explanation.""I called my insurance broker, and he said, Oh yeah, this is happening to all gun stores," Sorrell said. "He said insurance companies are dropping all gun stores. And then it hit me. Oh my goodness, I'm a victim of political debanking. I didn't even realize that that's what was happening to me."Debanking is the phenomenon in whicha bank customer has their accounts canceled, often with no explanation. Conservatives have long alleged that banks were unfairly targeting them in the practice, with banks specifically going after companies with conservative messaging or principles, including gun stores.HERE'S WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT DEBANKING, THE UN-AMERICAN ABUSE OF POWER BY REGULATORSIn an interview with"Sunday Morning Futures" anchor Maria Bartiromo, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said he had seen "numerous" examples of conservatives being debanked during the Biden administration."Especially people that were involved in different energy-type businesses and things like that, as well as very well-spoken and outspoken conservative activists," Comersaid in the interview. "So there are numerous instances, enough to open an investigation again. Is this [environmental, social and governance (ESG)] policy, which is discriminatory?"CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPSorrell told Fox News Digital he is "convinced this is happening to other people in Alabama," and that the problem doesnt stem from local community banks but from large national banks who were "pushed" by the Obama and Biden administrations."I actually have some sympathy for these large banks, and I think passing debanking legislation at the state level might actually help some of these large banks, because they can go back, and they can say, I'm sorry, Alabama has now passed debanking legislation. We're just following the law, we don't wanna debank people anymore," Sorrell said."This is un-American, and it has to be stopped."Since the Trump administration took office in January, pushing back against political debanking has become a more prevalent conversation in government, including in the form of a bill from GOP Sen. Tim Scott to address regulatory language that has prompted financial institutions to debank those involved in certain industries."It's clear that federal regulators have abused reputational risk by carrying out a political agenda against federally legal businesses," Scott said. "This legislation, which eliminates references to reputational risk in regulatory supervision, is the first step once and for all."

Democratic strategists question influence of Obama-era campaign operatives in party's future
Some Democratic strategists are questioning the role campaign operatives who are associated with former President Barack Obama's presidential campaigns will play going forward as the Democratic Party scrambles to move forward after former Vice President Kamala Harris' loss."Im sorry I dont want a surgeon who keeps killing patients," Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis told NBC News about the set of Obama-era campaign operatives who contributed to several modern Democratic campaigns. "Its pretty easy to win with a guy like Obama."Several of those who led Obama's campaigns also worked for Harris in 2024, as well as former President Joe Biden, until he dropped out and lost to President Donald Trump. Obama campaign alums Jen O'Malley Dillion and Stephanie Cutter worked on Harris' campaign. Other former Obama campaign aides, Mitch Stewart and Rufus Gifford, worked on Biden's campaign as well, NBC News reported.DNC Finance Chair Chris Korge called out David Plouffe, Obama's 2008 campaign manager and an advisor to Harris' campaign, in an interview with NBC News earlier this month. Plouffe placed blame for Harris' loss on Biden, telling authors Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson that the former president "totally f----- us."EX-OBAMA CAMPAIGN MANAGER JOINS HARRIS TEAM, VP KEEPS REST OF BIDEN'S SQUAD IN TACT"To blame Biden now is to shift the accountability from the people who lost the race: the consultants, the so-called gurus," Korge said during the interview. "Its time to re-evaluate the use of consultants and bring in new forward-looking people.""The old Obama playbook no longer works,"Korge added. Another Democratic strategist, Mike Nellis, told NBC News that the Democratic Party had nostalgia for the Obama era, but noted that the politics have changed."One of the challenges the Democratic Party does have is that there is nostalgia for the Obama era, both in terms of Barack Obama being in the White House and what that meant for the country and the style of leadership that we have, but also like the style of our politics," Nellis said. "Theres been a de-evolution of our politics over the last 10 years, and its just a very different era."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURENebraska Democratic Party chair Jane Kleeb detailed an anecdote about how she responded to Republican attacks with regard to transgender issues in a mayoral election in Omaha. The Democratic candidate, John Ewing, ended up beating the Republican candidate, Jean Stothert."I didnt contact the Pod Save America guys or a New York press firm to say, how do I handle this?" Kleeb said. "Our team literally got into the conference room at our state party office and said, Lets throw out ideas on how we can push back on this, because were not going to let them take down John Ewing on this bulls--- again."Kleeb added that she wanted all the operatives at the table, and spoke out against "intraparty fighting." Another ex-Obama campaign aide, Steve Schale, defended Plouffe and called him "one of the sharpest guys around."Chuck Rocha, a former Bernie Sanders campaign advisor, pointed out that the campaign consultants are usually locked-in with candidates before they even announce their campaigns.JON STEWART, 'POD SAVE AMERICA' QUESTION BIDEN'S HEALTH IN WAKE OF 'ORIGINAL SIN' BOOK"Most of these same consultants have locked in these candidates before they ever announce, and so theres never any opportunity for any new blood to be a part of these campaigns," Rocha said. "Theyre all connected."David Hogg, a DNC vice chair, told NBC that the party's political operatives hold on to power for too long, comparing them to several Democratic lawmakers in power. He also said young voters don't really have a memory of Obama's presidency."I dont think they have one to be honest with you. Thats part of the challenge," Hogg said. "For many of these younger people who are under the age of 20, right now they dont remember much of what Obama talked about. They grew up in the political context of Donald Trump and him being normalized, because that was what politics was to them growing up."After Harris lost, Plouffe, Dillion, Cutter and Quentin Fulks, all part of her campaign operation, joined the co-hosts of Pod Save America, a podcast hosted by all ex-Obama aides, to discuss what went wrong in the election.Liberal critics accused them of gaslighting and taking no accountability for the loss.

Memorial Day weekend shooting leaves 11 injured at North Myrtle Beach marina as police hunt suspects
South Carolina authorities continue to search for the suspect or suspects who carried out a mass shooting that left 11 people injured on Sunday evening in North Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police Department described the shooting as an isolated incident stemming from an altercation on a charter boat during a private Memorial Day gathering.A total of 10 victims sustained gunshot wounds and another person reported an unknown injury not related to gunfire, the police department said in a Monday press release. Some victims were recovered from the water, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department (NMBPD) said."Of those, the worst of the injured are in critical but stable condition at area hospitals," Horry County police said in a press release.MASS SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA AS VICTIMS FLOOD LOCAL HOSPITALSVideos and photos posted to social media on Sunday evening showed a heavy police presence in the area of Harbourgate Marina, a popular spot for local boat owners and tourists going on charter boat trips.NMBPD also said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating a separate incident involving a responding North Myrtle Beach officer who was injured with his own firearm.SOUTHERN VACATION HOT SPOT FIRES BACK AT POOR SAFETY RATING FOLLOWING SHOOTING: 'FAKE NEWS'"A NMBPD Officer was entering a gate to the dock when his rifle discharged twice, with one of the rounds striking his leg," the department said in its press release. "At the time of the discharge, the Officer had both of his hands on the gate, which was confirmed by later video evidence. Due to the Officer not attempting to utilize his weapon at the time, all Officers on scene believed that shots were being fired from the marina area."The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.MASS SHOOTING IN MYRTLE BEACH TOURIST HOTSPOT LEAVES 1 DEAD, 11 WOUNDEDVideo footage obtained from a witness apparently shows the incident, and authorities determined that "the discharge was from the wounded Officers rifle," and the scene was released to SLED.Horry County police said the shooting remains under investigation, and "there is currently no associated risk to the community."Crime concerns in and around Myrtle Beach have been heightened since April 26, when a shooting in the Myrtle Beach entertainment district left the shooter dead and 11 victims injured. Myrtle Beach officials described the shooting as an isolated incident at the time.

Pee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens hid terminal cancer from documentary director until his death
Paul Reubens did not tell his director, Matt Wolf, that he was dying from cancer. The actor and comedian, who famously starred as Pee-wee Herman in the 1980s, passed away in 2023 at age 70. Before his death, he gave over 40 hours of interviews on camera about his life and career for a two-part documentary, "Pee-wee as Himself," now streaming on HBO Max."I was scheduled to do a final interview with him the week after Paul Reubens passed away, and we had a conversation a week before he died," Wolf told Forbes on Monday.'PEE-WEE HERMAN' ACTOR PAUL REUBENS DEAD AT 70"I could tell something was up with his health, but I didnt understand the gravity of it," the filmmaker shared. "I had no reason to believe he was terminally ill, but we had a meaningful private conversation that gave me the assurances I needed to move forward with this film.""I left that conversation feeling like it was intense but not thinking too much about it," Wolf continued. "I found out on Instagram that he [had] died, along with the rest of the world; only a very small group of close friends were aware that he was dying."According to Wolf, they spoke about everything Reubens childhood, his complicated relationship with fame, his ambitions, his commitment to his alter-ego, his sexuality, his arrest except the fact that he had been battling cancer for the past six years.Wolf told the outlet that from the beginning, Reubens was eager to tell his story."When Paul and I met, he started the conversation the same way the film starts, saying, 'I want to direct a film myself, but everybody's advising me against it, and I don't understand why," Wolf recalled.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"I said, 'Well, I'm here to talk to you about directing a film, so why don't we get to know each other and see if we can conceive of an approach that would appeal to you.' That began a very long and involved process of communication, but in that initial meeting, I didn't relate to Paul as a fan."WATCH: PAUL REUBENS WORKED WITH KIDS WITH CANCER BEFORE HIS DEATH: MARK HOLTONWhile Wolf admitted that he did not know at what point he felt Reubens trusted him, the star later remarked, "At some point, you just have to take a leap of faith.""He took a leap of faith with me, and Im grateful for it," Wolf added.Wolf told the outlet that he had a question that was never fully answered by Reubens during their lengthy sit-downs."It wasnt that I wanted an answer, but I was working chronologically through Paul's life in this epic interview, and we stopped before the arrest in Florida," he explained, referring to the entertainers 1991 detention for indecent exposure at an adult movie theater. At the time, Reubens was handed a small fine, but the damage was incalculable. In 2001, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of child pornography, which was reduced to an obscenity charge with probation. These are covered in the documentarys second part.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS"Paul anecdotally discussed that because we had a digressive conversation for over 40 hours, but I wanted to go in more detail through his arrest step by step," Wolf told the outlet."At the end of the film, I wanted to reflect with him, not only about his late career work, but also about how he felt having gone through the full interview about this process, if he did have all the perspective he thought he had, or if he had learned something about himself through the course of telling his full story. He had also been on the record and in the media discussing his second arrest."Wolf noted that it was important for the film to have Reubens' last words in his own voice, as well as for the film to end in his voice."The day after Paul Reubens died, I started reading the 1,500-page transcript of my interview with him, and I found significance and meaning and all sorts of things that I wouldn't have understood before," said Wolf. "I did encounter what are the last words ofPee-wee as Himself, which were profound and moving to me, and they actually were the last things Paul said in the interview."" All these different emotions, all these different influences and factors, stuff that I saw when I was little, I felt like I could somehow give that back," Reubens reflected in the documentary. "I felt like a good collector of it all. I was like a good vessel for it all.""Nothing would stop me," he shared. "Nothing would deter me that it would be pure in every way. And I think thats what it was. Its part of why I feel so proud of it. Because I delivered that. Ive lived up to that. Not just for you, but for myself."Wolf told The Associated Press that in looking back at their final conversations, it was clear that Reubens was "privately contemplating mortality.""I was aware that this was an extraordinary situation that was part of the story of the film and that the stakes were the highest I had ever experienced," said Wolf."Pee-wee as Himself" premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
