A federal judge is blocking President Donald Trump from shuttering three federal agencies that assist public resources, minority businesses and mediation services.Nearly two dozen Democratic-led states sued to stop Trump from closing the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). U.S. District Judge John McConnell, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, sided with the states on Tuesday, affirming their arguments that the closings violated the separation of powers."It disregards the fundamental constitutional role of each of the branches of our federal government; specifically, it ignores the unshakable principles that Congress makes the law and appropriates funds, and the Executive implements the law Congress enacted and spends the funds Congress appropriated," McConnell wrote.Attorneys for the Trump administration had sought to argue that the states had no standing to bring a lawsuit in the case, but McConnell rejected that.HOCHUL SPURS BIPARTISAN OUTRAGE OVER MASSIVE TOLL REBOOT AS DEMS WORRY TRUMP WILL BLOCK IT"The States have presented compelling evidence illustrating that the harms stemming from the dismantling of IMLS, MBDA, and FMCS are already unfolding or are certain to occur," McConnell stated, pointing to "the significant reduction in personnel available and competent to administer these agencies funds and services and the elimination of certain programs that served the States."LEAVITT PUSHES BACK ON MEDIA'S UNCERTAINTY ABOUT FEDERAL FUNDING FREEZEEarlier this year, McConnell also blocked the Trump administration from implementing a nationwide freeze on federal grants. McConnell sided with 22 states and the District of Columbia in that case on Jan. 31.McConnell ruled that the Trump administration must "immediately restore frozen funding" until the case could be further litigated."The broad categorical and sweeping freeze of federal funds is, as the Court found, likely unconstitutional and has caused and continues to cause irreparable harm to a vast portion of this country," the judge wrote.

The fight over whether unelected federal district court judges should be able to unilaterally halt an elected president of the United States agenda has reached a critical point.For the last three months, the American peoples effort to profoundly change the Washington establishment has been blocked by radical district judges, who have wildly exceeded their authority. In the first 100 days of President Donald Trumps second administration, lower court judges have issued 37 nationwide injunctions against various administration actions. That is more than one every three days.This is not an issue of judges against President Trump. If any of them can issue nationwide injunctions to override the decisions of the elected president, we are in a real crisis. Remember, these judges have never been elected by the American people. In a letter to William Jarvis on Sept. 28, 1820, Jefferson wrote:"You seem ... to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions: a very dangerous doctrine indee[d] and one which would place us under the despotism of an Oligarchy."As I testified at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, the Founding Fathers all believed that the three branches of government should be co-equal. If anything, the judiciary would be the weakest of the three branches. They were clear that the two elected branches could correct the judicial branch if it tried to impose its will on the American people.Alexander Hamilton warned in the Federalist Papers that the legislative and executive branches could powerfully respond to judges and judges would have no means of defending themselves.As president, Jefferson and the Democrats eliminated 14 of 34 federal judges in the Judiciary Act of 1802. They did not impeach anyone (a lengthy and difficult task). When this is combined with Congressman Darrell Issas No Rogue Rulings Act of 2025 (which passed in the House by 219-213) its clear the district judges are forcing a constitutional crisis.We must protect the American peoples right to elect those who manage the federal government. Lower court judges who think they can micromanage and override the elected president and Congress have a simple path: Resign and run for office.Hopefully, the Supreme Court will end this absurdity. India launched multiple Israeli-made Harop drones targeting Pakistan overnight and into Thursday, with one damaging a military site and wounding four soldiers, a Pakistani army spokesman said.Pakistani forces downed 25 of the drones, Pakistan army spokesperson Lt. The acting president of Columbia University strongly denounced the occupation of the campus library on Wednesday after more than 100 anti-Israel agitators stormed it, resulting in dozens arrested and two university officers injured.Claire Shipman issued a statement to the campus community on Wednesday night addressing the hours-long incident at Butler Library, which she described as "utterly unacceptable."A mob of protesters showed up at the library Wednesday afternoon, as students were studying for finals, reportedly to rally support for detained Mahmoud Khalil, the accused ringleader of pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia. We will not tolerate hate or violence in any form in our city."U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News that the agency was monitoring arrests made at the protest and said all suspects were to be fingerprinted to determine if any are noncitizens.Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated that sentiment late Wednesday night, writing on X, "We are reviewing the visa status of the trespassers and vandals who took over Columbia Universitys library.
