Top Biden officials summoned to testify about alleged cover-up of former president's mental fitness
The House Oversight Committee is hearing from two top former Biden administration aides this week as Republicans continue to probe allegations that ex-President Joe Biden's top lieutenants covered up the former leaders mental decline while in office.Former Domestic Policy Council Director Neera Tanden will meet with the committee on Tuesday, and former Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the First Lady Anthony Bernthal will meet with the committee on Thursday.TRUMP NOMINATED FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE OVER IRAN-ISRAEL CEASEFIRE DEALThe committee also has interviews scheduled with former administration officials Annie Tomasini and Ashley Williams, while seeking interviews with several officials in the Biden inner circle, including former Chief of Staff Ron Klain and former Senior Advisor to the President for Communications Anita Dunn.Bidens former doctor, Kevin OConnor, will sit down with House investigators in July.House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., is probing whether those closest to Biden in his White House knowingly colluded to hide the former president's declining mental acuity and used methods to circumvent the former president when it came to the issuance of important orders.HOUSE GOP SECURES FOUR KEY WITNESSES IN BIDEN MENTAL-DECLINE PROBE AS FORMER AIDES AGREE TO TALKPresident Donald Trumpalso ordered the Department of Justice to open an investigation into the matter. The president directed Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House counsel David Warrington to handle the investigation. In response to the Trump administration's call for an investigation, Biden declared he wasthe only one who "made the decisions" during his presidency and called Trump's efforts a "distraction."Among the questions House investigators are expected to have is whether any Biden officials used the autopen to authorize executive actions without the president's permission. The sit-downs are behind closed doors, as opposed to public congressional hearings. The interviews will be transcribed and likely released at a later date.Comer previously told Fox News Digital that the more muted setting of a closed-door interview would allow House lawmakers to get more key information, as opposed to the public spectacle of a hearing."Ive studied history, theres never been a committee hearing that did what its supposed to do," Comer said."But these depositions and interviews, do. Youve got one hour, youre not interrupted, you dont have to go five minutes back and forth. So to extract information, were going to go with the interviews. We could have a hearing later on, but right now, I think we can get more done quicker with interviews."

Karen Read 'didn't do this crime,' says jury foreman after acquitting her of murder charges: report
The jury foreman in Karen Read's retrial on murder charges is the latest to open up and blame police missteps for the outcome, declaring the vindicated defendant not just not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but completely "innocent" in a new televised interview."Karen Read is innocent, and she didn't do this crime," Juror No. 1 told "Today" on Tuesday morning. "No one could prove that she did this crime, so I looked at her from Day 1 as an innocent woman that needed to be proven guilty, and I don't think any of that was shown in this process."Jurors rejected all homicide-related charges last week, convicting her only of drunken driving after she spent the night drinking cocktails and driving around Canton, Massachusetts, during a blizzard.JUROR REVEALS WHY KAREN READ WALKED FREE IN BOYFRIEND'S DEATHProsecutors alleged that she backed her 2021 Lexus LX 570 SUV into her then-boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe, and then left him to die on the ground in the cold with a fractured skull. The state presented broken taillight fragments collected from the crime scene, which matched smaller pieces recovered from O'Keefe's clothes and a chunk missing from Read's Lexus.KAREN READ MURDER CASE VERDICT REACHED AFTER DEADLOCKED FIRST TRIALHowever, police missteps doomed the case, and the jury found the state's evidence unconvincing. Defense experts dismissed claims from their counterparts working for the prosecution, who had suggested that the vehicle struck O'Keefe with a glancing blow, sending him tumbling backward to hit his head on the ground.Despite evidence showing his phone stopped moving at the time Read hit the gas in reverse, jurors saw no link between black box data from the SUV and the victim's final recorded movement.GET REAL-TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUB"People had questions, and we used the evidence to answer their questions, and we didn't try to go down these rabbit holes where we're just getting lost in all these other things that were thrown at us in court or whatever," the foreman, who did not reveal his name, told the interviewers. "We just had to lock down and figure it out through the evidence."SIGN UP TO GET TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTERThe lead investigator was fired after sending explicit text messages about Read and the progress of the investigation to a group of friends people who were unauthorized to receive confidential details about the case.O'Keefe, 46, was a Boston police officer who had taken in his orphaned niece and nephew after their parents died within months of one another.FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON XO'Keefe's niece testified at trial that he had a toxic relationship with Read and indicated he wanted to call it off in the weeks before his death. In an earlier interview with the Boston Herald, the foreman said he had ties to another high-profile local case. He knew the Boston Marathon bombers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, as well as an 8-year-old victim of their terror attack, Martin Richard.

Manhunt for father accused of killing 3 daughters takes grim turn in wilderness
The Washington state father wanted for the alleged killings of his three daughters may no longer be alive in the remote wilderness, according to local authorities.Travis Decker, 32, is accused of murdering his three daughters Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 after their bodies were found near Deckers abandoned vehicle in a remote campground.Ina statement released Monday night, the Kittitas County Sheriffs Office revealed "there is no certain evidence that Decker remains alive or in this area" but insisted authorities are continuing to search for the father throughout Teenaway Valley, Liberty, Lauderdale and Blewett Pass.MILITARY-TRAINED DAD ACCUSED OF KILLING DAUGHTERS NEARS 3 WEEKS LIVING IN WILDERNESS AMID MANHUNT"Seemingly, strong early leads gave way to less convincing proofs over the last two weeks of searching," the department said. "Still, we cant and wont quit this search."Additionally, authorities are set to deploy a cadaver dog this week, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrisontold USA Today. The Chelan County Sheriffs Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment.SURVIVALISTS GOOGLE SEARCHES REVEAL POSSIBLE ESCAPE PLAN AMID MANHUNT IN DAUGHTERS TRIPLE MURDER: REPORT"Some search resources are being redirected to find and recover Decker if he died in the rugged wilderness during this intense search," the Kittitas County Sheriffs Office said, adding that it is "a possibility that increases every day."The update comes after the girls mother, Whitney Decker, spoke publicly about the loss of her children for the first time last week."I truly hope that the legacy of the girls lives lives on in everyones heart forever," she said at a June 20 memorial service, according to Fox 13 Seattle. "They were incredible."WANTED WASHINGTON DAD'S YOUNG DAUGHTERS WERE FOUND DEAD WITH BAGS ON HEADS, WRISTS BOUND: DOCSThe search for Decker began over three weeks ago after the girls' mother called the police when he failed to return the girls from a court-mandated visitation on May 30. Three days later, the girls bodies were discovered with plastic bags over their heads and their hands bound at Rock Island Campground, police said.Decker, a military-trained survivalist, was homeless and alternating between living out of his car and at nearby campsites. Decker also suffered from mental health issues, according to court documents.Last week, authorities shared an updated flyer depicting possible ways Decker may have altered his appearance while on the run, including renderings showing him wearing a baseball cap and without facial hair.NEW FLYER SHOWS SUSPECTED KILLER DAD MAY HAVE CHANGED APPEARANCE IN WILDERNESS MANHUNT: POLICEOfficials previously quashed a TikTok video reportedly circulating showing Morrison announcing Deckers arrest following a long standoff."To be clear, Mr. Decker is not in custody and CCSO had no part in making the video," the department wrote in a Facebook post. The U.S. Marshals Service has taken on the role of lead agency in the extensive hunt for Decker. The Washington National Guard, Border Patrol, FBI, U.S. Forest Service, Homeland Security Investigations and National Parks have also reportedly joined a swath of local law enforcement agencies as the search continues, according to Fox 13.Authorities warn that Decker should be considered armed and dangerous but insist they have no reason to believe he is a threat to public safety. He is charged with three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to Deckers arrest."We recognize we do have a job to do," Morrison said. "If we fail, the voices of Paityn and Evelyn and Olivia will not be heard, and that's not going to be acceptable."

Republican senator calls caucusing with Democrats an 'interesting hypothetical'
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, called the prospect of caucusing with Democrats an "interesting hypothetical," but she fell short of fully committing to doing so if the Democrats pick up three seats in the 2027 midterms."Its an interesting hypothetical," Murkowski said on the "GD Politics" podcast with Galen Druke. "You started off with the right hook here, is if this would help Alaskans."The senator is promoting her new book, a memoir titled, "Far From Home." She was repeatedly asked if she would caucus with Democrats if the party divide in the upper chamber of Congress becomes 50-50 after the next election."Thats why this book is kind of scary, because now people know what motivates me, and its this love for Alaska and what I can do," she said. "So, thats my primary goal. I have to figure out how I can be most effective for the people that I serve."SENATE GOP AIMS TO APPROVE MAJOR LEGISLATION NEXT WEEK AS TRUMP TOUTS PARTY UNITYMurkowski said the "problem" she had with Drukes hypothetical was that "as challenged as we may be on the Republican side, I dont see the Democrats being much better."She said the Democrats also have policies that she inherently disagrees with."I cant be somebody that Im not," Murkowski said, describing how she received pressure to run as a Libertarian after narrowly losing the GOP Senate primary in 2010. She went on to win as a write-in candidate in a historic victory, launching her Senate career. "I cant now say that I want this job so much that Im going to pretend to be somebody that Im not. Thats not who I am." Druke, arguing that Murkowski would not have to become a Democrat to caucus with them, asked, "Is there world in which by becoming unaligned or an independent that you could help Alaskans, youd consider it?" "There may be that possibility," she said, noting that the Alaska legislature currently features a coalition with members of both parties."This is one of the things that I think is good and healthy for us, and this is one of the reasons people are not surprised that I dont neatly toe the line with party initiatives, because weve kind of embraced a governing style that says if youve got good ideas, and you can work with her over there, it doesnt make any difference if youre a Republican or Democrat," Murkowski said. "We can govern together for the good of the state.""If Democrats won three seats in the next election and offered you a way to pass bills that benefit Alaskans if you caucused with them, youd consider it?" Druke pressed.REPUBLICAN SEN MURKOWSKI PREPARED TO 'TAKE THE CRITICISM' OVER DOGE PUSHBACKMurkowski said in response that a coalition is "not foreign to Alaskans," but it is at the federal level in the U.S. Senate."Im evading your answer, of course, because it is so, extremely hypothetical, but you can tell that the construct that were working with right now, I dont think is the best construct," Murkowski said, adding: "Is it something thats worthy of exploration?"Murkowski joked that Druke was trying to "make news" and said the rank-choice voting system in Alaska means candidates are more likely to get elected if they are not viewed as wholly partisan."It is a different way of looking at addressing our problems rather than just saying its red and its blue," she added.Druke hammered the senator again, saying, "Was that a yes? Theres some openness to it?""Theres some openness to exploring something different than the status quo," she said.Murkowski, one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict President Donald Trump during his second impeachment trial after the Jan. 6 riot, recently called the July 4 deadline that GOP leadership wants to pass Trumps "big, beautiful bill" by "arbitrary." "I don't want us to be able to say we met the date, but our policies are less than we would want," Murkowski told Axios. "Why are we afraid of a conference? Oh my gosh."Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., are hesitant about going to conference with the upcoming debt ceiling "X date" approaching and the party lines so tight.Murkowski, a critic of Trumps foreign policy, particularly on Ukraine, told the Washington Post that she was in a "lonely position" in the Senate, and sometimes feels "afraid" to speak up among Republican colleagues out of fear of retaliation."We used to be called the worlds greatest deliberative body," she told the Post in a recent interview promoting her book. "I think were still called it, but now I wonder if its in air quotes."

Trump thrashes CNN as gutless losers for coverage of US strikes on Iran
President Donald Trump ripped what he terms "fake news" media outlets on Tuesday morning. While answering questions about Israel's war with Iran as he departed the White House, Trump hammered CNN and MSNBC after accusing them of downplaying the success of the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last weekend, calling CNN in particular "scum.""You're gutless losers," he said. "I say that to CNN because I watch it. I have no choice. I've gotta watch that garbage. It's all garbage. It's all fake news. But I think CNN is a gutless group of people."MISDIRECTION AND 'DECEPTION' LIKELY KEY IN TRUMP ADMINS SURPRISE IRAN STRIKEThe U.S. military on Saturday carried out massive precision strikes on three key nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Long-range B-2 stealth bomber aircraft dropped 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on the locations in an attack that Trump called "a spectacular military success.""Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," Trump stated in an address to the nation that night. While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Trump recounted the success of the mission and savaged outlets that questioned whether the three nuclear facilities were destroyed. Trump officials have hailed the mission as experts continue to assess how much Iran's nuclear ambitions have been set back.CLICK HERE FOR ISRAEL-IRAN LIVE UPDATESAfter one reporter asked if Iran could rebuild its nuclear program, the president said, "That place is demolished. The B-2 pilots did their job. They did it better than anybody could even imagine. They hit late in the evening. It was dark with no moon. And they hit that target with every one of those things. And that place is gone."He then mentioned mainstream outlets, saying, "But when I see CNN, all night long, they're trying to say, Well, maybe it wasn't really as demolished as we thought.' It was demolished. You take a look at the pinpricks, and you see that place is gone. And I will say, I think CNN ought to apologize to the pilots of the B-2s. I think that MSDNC [MSNBC] ought to apologize. I think these guys, really these networks, and these cable networks are real losers. You really are."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURETrump continued to dig in on CNN and MSNBC, criticizing the former for the changes in the networks leadership in recent years."And the people that run it, nobody even knows, it's been sold so many times," Trump said. "But the people that run it ought to be ashamed. MSDNC a guy named Brian Roberts he heads it. He's a disgrace. He's a weak, pathetic disgrace."CNN declined to comment on Trumps remarks. MSNBC didn't respond to a request for comment.

Brad Pitt confesses he 'needed rebooting' after sobering incident that led to Angelina Jolie divorce
Brad Pitt isn't holding back when it comes to his sobriety.Following a 2016 incident on a private plane with Angelina Jolie and their children one that led Jolie to promptly file for divorce Pitt started attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and became sober. In a new interview with actor Dax Shepard on his "Armchair Expert" podcast, Pitt explains that at the time, he "needed rebooting.""I was pretty much on my back, you know, or on my knees," Pitt said of his decision to get sober. "I was trying anything and everyone. Anything anyone threw at me. It was a particularly difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the f--- up in some areas. And it just meant a lot to me."BRAD PITT TALKS MISTAKES, SHARES SIMPLE EQUATION HE LIVES BYShepard, who is sober himself and originally met Pitt at one of these meetings, said that the "F1" star was "insanely gracious" to the other attendees of their all-male AA group, and Pitt admitted he was inspired by the openness of the other men sharing their experiences. When asked if he was nervous about being vulnerable during the meetings as a public figure, Pitt said he'd been assured that the things he said would remain private, but he also admitted that it was important for him at the time to take responsibility for the things he'd done wrong."I am a stubborn f---, but I am also, when I've stepped in s---, I'm pretty good at taking responsibility for it and owning up to it," he said. "And now it's a quest to, you know, What do I do with this? How can I right this and make sure it doesnt happen again?'"LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSBecause of this, he said he was "open" to the idea of Alcoholics Anonymous, despite generally being a shy person. He said that when he did therapy then, he was also quick to share details of the things he'd done.Shepard's co-host, Monica Padman, said that was very "trusting" of him, and he gently corrected her, saying, "Or desperate."While he didn't mention the plane incident directly, the New York Times reported in a 2019 interview with the actor that that's what led to his decision to stop drinking."I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges," he admitted during the interview. He added, "It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself. Theres great value in that."The outlet reported that Pitt spent a year and a half attending meetings. In September 2016, there was an alleged altercation on a flight that Pitt and his then-wife, Jolie, took with their six children. During the flight, Pitt allegedly "choked one of the children and struck another in the face" and "grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her." He then poured "beer and red wine" on her and their six children.VALERIE BERTINELLI, ELLE MACPHERSON, BRAD PITT, ROB LOWE EXPLAIN HOW SOBRIETY HAS CHANGED THEIR LIVES"Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop," according to court documents filed by Jolie in Los Angeles Superior Court. "They were all frightened. Many were crying."Days after the alleged incident, Jolie filed for divorce. Her lawyers have claimed that Pitt had been abusive towards her prior to the incident, but that had been the first time he'd allegedly involved the children. The FBI conducted an investigation in 2016, and no charges were filed against him. He's denied the allegations of physical abuse. In December 2024, eight years after Jolie originally filed for divorce, the former couple reached a settlement. At the time, Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, told Fox News Digital, "More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."A source close to the matter additionally told Fox News Digital at the time, "She doesnt speak ill of him publicly or privately. Shes been trying hard to be light after a dark time."The source continued, "The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices dont matter. Their pain doesnt count. They have wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years but she reminds them to focus on changing laws over telling public stories."A representative for Pitt declined to comment on the settlement, but in May, Pitt spoke about the settlement in an interview with GQ.When he was asked if things felt "different" after the divorce was settled or if he felt any sense of relief, Pitt replied, "No, I dont think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally."BRAD PITT, ANGELINA JOLIE TO OLIVIA WILDE, JASON SUDEIKIS: A LOOK AT HOLLYWOOD'S MESSIEST SPLITSThe issue of child custody was a sticking point for several years during the lengthy divorce. Now, only two of their six children, 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, are minors, but in 2021, Pitt was granted joint custody despite Jolie's concerns for "the children's health, safety and welfare," per a court filing at the time. Not much is known about the current state of Pitt's relationships with his children, though it is notable that some have chosen to drop his last name previously, all children went by the surname Jolie-Pitt.Following her 18th birthday in May 2024, Shiloh legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie. That same month, Vivienne worked as a producers assistant for "The Outsiders" on Broadway, and was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the playbill.Zahara also dropped her father's last name when she introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" in a video obtained by Essence, when joining her sorority at Spelman College, choosing not to include Pitt in her introduction."Hes aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. Hes never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter," a source close to Brad told People when news of Shiloh's name change broke. "The reminders that hes lost his children is, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. Its very sad."While Jolie isn't known to be dating anyone at the moment, Pitt has been romantically linked to jewelry designer Ines de Ramon. The two are rarely spotted together, making their public debut in 2024 at the British Grand Prix. When GQ asked if he'd chosen the F1 event strategically for their first outing as a couple, Pitt laughed and replied, "No, dude, its not that calculated. If youre living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If youre living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERThe two began dating in 2022 before reportedly moving in together in February 2024.A source close to Pitt told People that they "are serious about their relationship and making plans for the future.""It started out as a fun and casual relationship, but after moving in together, they realized that they have something special," the source claimed.Fox News Digital's Lori Bashian contributed to this report.
