A quick glance at the Boston Red Soxs roster from their 2018 World Series-winning team may make the average baseball fan quizzical when compared to the 2025 squad.Rafael Devers was their third baseman, Mookie Betts played right field and Xander Bogaerts was the shortstop, not to mention players like Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr. and J.D. Martinez also bolstered the lineup as the team defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMOn Sunday, one of the last core pieces of the lineup was dealt. The Red Sox traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants for Jordan Hicks, Jose Bello, James Tibbs III and Kyle Harrison a deal that stunned the baseball world. Despite his philosophical differences with the Red Sox, Devers was hitting .272 with a .905 OPS and 15 home runs. He was leading the American League in walks with 56 and had played the most games in the majors (73).Betts, who the Red Sox traded to the Dodgers, offered his thoughts following the teams win over the Giants on Sunday."I just thought it was crazy," he told The Athletic. "Nothing really to say, its just crazy."SHOHEI OHTANI SET TO PITCH 1ST GAME FOR DODGERS AGAINST THE PADRESDodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw also reacted to the trade as he was told during an ESPN segment about the wild move."How about that trade? Thats wild," he said. "Busters really doing it! Not Olney; Buster Poseys really doing it over there. Good for Buster, man. Hes going for it. Id consider (Devers) one of probably the top 10 hitters in the game at worst. Hes definitely a game-changer."Nearly seven years later, the Red Sox are operating with a completely different roster than the one they had when they lifted the Commissioner's Trophy.Boston will enter the week fresh off of a sweep of the New York Yankees and only 6.5 games behind them for first place in the AL East.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Anti-Trump Washington Post columnist admits he loved military parade
Anti-Trump Washington Post columnist Max Boot admitted on Sunday that he loved the military parade in Washington, D.C, in spite of his reservations about the event.Boot wrote he was initially concerned that President Donald Trump would turn the parade held Saturday to honor the U.S. Armys 250th birthday into a "political pageant.""But my apprehension began to melt away as soon as the music started to play and the soldiers began to march. Dear reader, I hope you do not think I am going soft on Trump if I tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the entire parade," Boot wrote.Boot said he loved watching soldiers marching in period uniforms and added that he was "thrilled" by the flyovers.MSNBC HOSTS HIGHLIGHT LACK OF DARK, MALEVOLENT ENERGY AT TRUMP MILITARY PARADE IN DCPrior to the parade, "The View" co-host Sara Haines said the event reminded her of Russia and North Korea."I think of Russia and North Korea and visuals of people saluting and doing things and thats just not what I think of when I think of the U.S.," she said on Friday. However, Boot described the celebration as "America's army on display.""This was not a menacing, goose-stepping parade a la Moscow or Pyongyang. It was Americas army on display, and I appreciated how many of the GIs were women or ethnic minorities a reminder of the limits of [Secretary of Defense Pete] Hegseths anti-DEI purges in a force that truly represents the entire country," Boot wrote.PROTESTERS EXPECTED TO CONVERGE ON DC, NEIGHBORING CITIES AHEAD OF TRUMP'S MILITARY PARADEThe anti-Trump columnist said one of the controversial parts of the parade included the "participation of [the] 70-ton M1 Abrams tank," as it could "recall unpleasant images from other countries of what happens when tanks enter the capital.""But I enjoyed seeing the smoke-belching monsters rattle down the street, and it was hard to see anything threatening about it when the crew members were smiling and waving at the spectators and, in some cases, making heart gestures with their hands," Boot said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREBoot said his enjoyment of the parade was likely due to the fact that he wasn't near where Trump sat and spoke."I was greatly relieved that Trump, in a rare amount of self-control, kept his remarks short and focused on the Army not, as is usually the case, on glorifying himself or bashing his political opponents," he wrote.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPBoot also pointed to a Rolling Stone headline that read, "Trumps military birthday was a gross failure," adding, "I think thats right, but the flip side is that the Armys military parade was an absolute success."

'Another endless conflict': Democrat echoes Trump's anti-war stance as Middle East tensions escalate
A Senate Democrat wants to ensure that Congress can weigh in before the U.S. leaps into "another endless conflict" in the Middle East, a sentiment shared by President Donald Trump.Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., on Monday introduced a resolution that would require Congress to debate and vote before any U.S. force is used against Iran. Kaine said in a statement that it was "not in our national security interest to get into a war with Iran unless that war is absolutely necessary to defend the United States."'ALL-IN': GOP LAWMAKERS DIVIDED ON US INVOLVEMENT AS TRUMP PUSHES IRAN FOR DIPLOMATIC END"I am deeply concerned that the recent escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran could quickly pull the United States into another endless conflict," he said. "The American people have no interest in sending service members to fight another forever war in the Middle East.""This resolution will ensure that if we decide to place our nations men and women in uniform into harms way, we will have a debate and vote on it in Congress," Kaine continued.DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS CRITICIZE ISRAEL'S DEFENSIVE STRIKES AGAINST IRAN'S NUCLEAR SITESKaines sentiment is similar to that of Trump, his former opponent in the 2016 election, when the lawmaker ran alongside former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.Trump has painted himself as the consummate anti-war president, vowing during his first term and on the campaign trail during the 2024 election cycle to cease endless wars like those started at the beginning of this century in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, he noted on Sunday in an interview with ABC News that "its possible" the U.S. will get involved amid reports that Israel made a plea for America to join the fray.Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment for this report.GOP SENATORS: CONGRESS SHOULD VOTE ON TRUMP'S POTENTIAL IRAN NUCLEAR DEALStill, the president has made clear that he would prefer a diplomatic end, urging Iranian leaders to return to the negotiation table to hammer out a nuclear deal. Most senators are also not keen on the idea of sending American troops onto the battlefield, with many believing that Trump, who they say would never green-light soldiers fighting in yet another war in the Middle East, will be the deciding factor.Kaines resolution is privileged, meaning that the Senate is required to quickly consider and vote on it, and is meant to underscore that "Congress has the sole power to declare war" under the Constitution and that any action against Iran must be "explicitly authorized by a declaration of war or specific authorization for use of military force."The last time Congress formally declared war was in 1942 against Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. Prior to that, Congress declared war on Japan in 1941.Since then, lawmakers have green-lit the usage of military force through other avenues, including Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) resolutions, which gives the president the authority to use military force. One of the most notable AUMFs was approved in 2001, shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks in New York City.
