DOJ cites bodycam footage in charging document for House Dem McIver
The Department of Justice has accused Rep. LaMonica McIver of assaulting two federal agents at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in New Jersey last month, according to a new charging document. The document cites bodycam footage from law enforcement officers who recorded events as McIver and two other New Jersey lawmakers stormed the ICE facility. Prosecutors say the first officer McIver allegedly assaulted was a Homeland Security Investigations agent and the second was an ICE agent. The DOJ accuses McIver of having "slammed her forearm into the body of a uniformed HSI agent and reached out and tried to restrain the agent by forcibly grabbing him."The charging document also states that McIver "pushed an ICE officer & used her forearms to forcibly strike the agent."BLUE STATE ICE FACILITY RAMPS UP SECURITY WITH NEW BARRICADES AMID CLASHES WITH PROTESTERSMcIver rejected the charges in a public statement, arguing they are "purely political.""Earlier this month, I joined my colleagues to inspect the treatment of ICE detainees at Delaney Hall in my district," she wrote. "We were fulfilling our lawful oversight responsibilities, as members of Congress have done many times before, and our visit should have been peaceful and short. Instead, ICE agents created an unnecessary and unsafe confrontation when they chose to arrest Mayor Baraka.""The charges against me are purely political they mischaracterize and distort my actions, and are meant to criminalize and deter legislative oversight," she continued. "This administration will never stop me from working for the people in our district and standing up for what is right. I am thankful for the outpouring of support I have received and I look forward to the truth being laid our clearly in court."DEM LAWMAKERS DEFEND STORMING OF ICE FACILITY, SAY TRUMP ADMIN IS LYING AT ALL LEVELSProsecutors say McIver helped create a "human shield" and blocked agents from handcuffing Newark Mayor Ras Baraka after he ignored numerous warnings to leave the property and was told he would be arrested. When the HSI agent told the mayor he was going to arrest him, McIver interjected and yelled "Hell no! Hell no! Hell no!" according to the charging document. The HSI agent then ordered Baraka to put his hands behind his back and displayed his handcuffs. McIver and other members of Congress "surrounded the Mayor and prevented HSI from handcuffing him and taking him into custody," prosecutors say.Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem weighed in on the charges against McIver on Monday, saying, "no one is above the law.""If any person, regardless of political party, influence or status, assaults a law enforcement officer as we witnessed Congresswoman McIver do, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," the secretary wrote. "We thank our brave ICE law enforcement officers for their service to this great nation."

Tensions flare at school board meeting after trans athlete wins multiple track events
Parents and residents clashed at a school board meeting in Chicago on Monday after a trans junior high school student won multiple events at a local track meet. The Naperville 203 Community School District Board meeting was at times contentious, with roughly 100 people in attendance, split between the main room and an overflow viewing area. Those in support of the trans athlete waved the blue, pink and white striped transgender flag, while those advocating for athletes to compete against people of the same biological sex held signs reading "Protect girls sports" and "Defend Title IX," a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education.CALIFORNIA TRACK MEET TURNS TO POLITICAL RALLY OVER TRANS ATHLETES AS SCHOOLS SPEAK OUT VS. STATEThe controversy centered around a biological male who competed in a 7th grade track meet against biological females at the Naper Prairie Conference Meet, with attendees at the meeting sharply divided on the issue."These situations place feelings over reason and force other students and families to participate in something we all know is a lie," parent Mike LaBelle said.Naperville resident Doug MacGregor said there is a hidden political agenda behind district policies."Many of us knew then the achievement gap was just a Trojan horse for DEI's real objective, pronouns and the radical LGBTQ-plus agenda," MacGregor said."Naperville parents will spend literally tens of thousands of dollars on sports throughout their daughters lives: travel teams, coaches, summer camps, traveling to tournaments and meets, etc. and when their daughter steps up for her chance to win a state championship or medal," he said. "She'll lose to a biological male. That once in a lifetime moment gone because of DEI's political agenda."Those defending the trans athlete included Dorothy Powers, a parent of six who is non-binary. Powers argued that forcing students to compete in a gender category that does not match their identity harms their personal development."When a student is forced to compete in a gender with which he or she does not identify, education is a choice," Powers said. "America began providing public education in 1635. Will Naperville continue the proud American tradition of forward progress, or try to justify exclusion? For those who are non-binary, of course I include. I encourage inclusion."ILLINOIS TRANS ATHLETE POLICY BREWING CONFLICT WITHIN STATEParent Tim Thompson said the controversy is not truly about races or a specific athlete, but rather part of a broader effort to target transgender students."Don't be fooled. It was never about a race, and it was never about an athlete," Thompson said. "This is an attempt to further marginalize the group and tell them that they don't belong, that they aren't good enough."Awake Illinois has filed a civil rights complaint against the district, with the Education Departments Office for Civil Rights alleging a violation of Title IX.They called on federal funds to be withheld from the district, which it says receives between $8 million and $9 million in federal grants annually. The complaint is part of a broader effort by Awake Illinois, which previously filed similar Title IX complaints against other districts and the Illinois State Board of Education.Shannon Adcock of Awake Illinois also spoke out at the meeting."Now in 2025, you've got boys stealing girls victories, leaving young girls sobbing on the track," Adcock said. "This isn't inclusion. It's oppression."Meanwhile, Lauren Hruby said that a solution may be to give trans students a different class of sports to compete against one another."But I think for women, I don't think we stand a chance against a male," she said. "I know a lot of these girls practice their entire life to try to get a scholarship, and there's a lot lost opportunities, so I just wanted to come and support women in women's sports."Fox News' Patrick McGovern contributed to this report.

Former Obama aide admits attacks against Hur report 'weren't totally fair' after released audio
Former Obama spokesperson and political commentator Tommy Vietor wrote Saturday that critics of Special Counsel Robert Hurs report on former President Joe Biden "werent totally fair."Vietor shared revelations on social media about a new book by CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson, "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again," and called Hurs report the most interesting context for the book.Though he originally considered Hurs comments about Biden being an "elderly man with a poor memory" to be "Jim Comey-style inappropriate editorializing about a non-charging decision," Vietor said the book changed his mind."[T]he book made me realize how important that context was for Hur in explaining his decision NOT to charge Biden, and I now feel that many of the attacks on Hur, including by me, werent totally fair," Vietor wrote.CNN HOST SUGGESTS ROBERT HUR 'UNDERSOLD' EXTENT OF BIDEN MEMORY LAPSES DURING SPECIAL COUNSEL INTERVIEWHe added that he still believed the situation around Bidens memory was "complicated" but that "clearly Biden was experiencing cognitive decline.""The just-released audio clearly shows a guy who should not be running for reelection. It also shows a man who is exhausted because the October 7th attacks had just happened. And the broader context is a very scary and politically devastating law enforcement interview. Its just messy and terrible all around," Vietor wrote.Vietor was originally one of many Democratic critics of the Hur report after it was released last year, going as far as to call Hurs claim that Biden couldnt remember when his son died an "outrageous lie" and "cruel.""Hur's claim that Biden couldn't remember the day his son died was an outrageous lie. It's also cruel & irrelevant. Anyone who has experienced loss like that can remember images, smells, bit of conversations. The pain is burned into you. Dates blend together bc they're irrelevant," Vietor wrote.BIDEN'S AUTOPEN USE QUESTIONED AMID RELEASED AUDIO FROM SPECIAL COUNSEL HUR INTERVIEWVietor revealed last month on "Pod Save America" that he had read an early copy of the book and described the details at the time as "enraging." Since then, he has said he had no interest in hearing from Biden anymore.Released audio from Bidens interview with Hur was reported by Axios on Saturday. The audio showed the president struggling with key memories, including when his son Beau died, when he left the vice presidency and why he had classified documents he shouldn't have had.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREWhen asked by Hur about where he kept papers he was actively working on around 2017 and 2018, Biden said that Beau Biden was either "deployed or is dying" at that time. Beau died in 2015. At one point, Biden said to himself "When did Beau die?" and a lawyer answered that it was 2015.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Pam Bondi backs Maine lawmaker Laurel Libby's Supreme Court appeal after being censured for trans athlete post
EXCLUSIVE: The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Attorney General Pam Bondi have come out in support of Maine state Rep. Laurel Libby as she seeks to have her censure in the state legislature overturned.Libby has been censured since February after the state's Democrat majority voted to take away her voting and speaking rights for a social media post that identified a transgender high school athlete who won a girls' pole vault competition earlier that month.Libby filed a lawsuit in response and is now looking for U.S. Supreme Court intervention after a district judge and the court of appeals ruled against her.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe DOJ has now filed an amicus brief supporting Libby in her lawsuit, and Bondi has personally spoken out in support of the embattled Republican state representative."The Department of Justice is proud to fight for girls in Maine and stand alongside Rep. Libby, who is being attacked simply for defending girls in her home state. As our lawsuit against the state of Maine illustrates, we will always protect girls sports and girls spaces from radical gender ideology," Bondi told Fox News Digital. The amicus brief argues that Libby's censure violates the Equal Protection Clauses "one-person, one-vote" guarantee, as the state legislature withdrew her voting and speaking rights for a private act and offered to remove the censure if Libby apologizes."Stripping District 90s voters of their house representation and vote because their chosen representative will not apologize for fulfilling this obligation is well beyond the bounds of an appropriate sanction," the document read.DOJ Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon spoke out in support of Libby as well."The Maine House Speaker silenced Rep. Laurel Libby for refusing to apologize over her stance against male athletes in girls sports. This isnt leadership, its unconstitutional. The Civil Rights Division stands ready to defend the rule of law," Dhillon told Fox News Digital.MAINE TEENS ARE BATTLING STATE DEMOCRATS ON GIRLS' SPORTS BILL AFTER ENDURING TRANS ATHLETE CHAOS IN HIGH SCHOOLLibby herself has insisted she will not apologize for the social media post and previously told Fox News Digital that no one from the trans athlete's family or high school reached out to her about the post. She has also argued the athlete was already publicized in other media. The Portland Press Herald published a recap of the event, mentioning the athlete, before Libby made her post.Libby's lawsuit names Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau and House Clerk Robert Hunt as the defendants, and they are represented by Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey.Fecteau, Hunt and Frey all defended the decision to censure Libby for the February post in their response last week."Like other censures of Maine House members, the censure resolution required Rep. Libby to apologize for her conductnotrecant her views.Rep. Libby has steadfastly refused to comply with this modest punishment, which is designed to restore the integrity and reputation of the body," the response read."Her refusal places her in breach of a centuries-old rule of the Maine House, Rule 401(11), that Rep. Libby previously agreed, along with all of her House colleagues, would govern House proceedings. Rule 401(11) provides that a member found by the body to be in breach of its rules may not participate in floor debates or vote on matters before the full House until they have 'made satisfaction,' i.e., here, apologized for their breach."Maine's Democrats, led by Gov. Janet Mills, have fought unyieldingly to prevent President Donald Trump from enforcing his "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports" in the state.Bondi and the DOJ are currently involved in a lawsuit against the state directly over the issue, and Libby was present at the press conference where the lawsuit was announced back in April.A survey by the American Parents Coalition found that out of about 600 registered Maine voters, 63% said school sports participation should be based on biological sex, and 66% agreed it is "only fair to restrict womens sports to biological women."The poll also found that 60% of residents would support a ballot measure limiting participation in womens and girls' sports to biological females. This included 64% of independents and 66% of parents with kids under age 18.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Iran's Khamenei says Americans should avoid talking 'nonsense' in nuke talks
IranianSupreme Leader Ayatollah AliKhameneion Tuesday called U.S. demands that Tehran stop enriching uranium entirely "utter nonsense" and questioned whether future nuclear talks could succeed."For the Americans to say, We wont allow Iran to enrich uranium, is utter nonsense," he said in a post on X. "We arent waiting for anyones permission."The Islamic Republic has certain policies, and it will pursue them," he added, without expanding on what these policies are.IRANIAN PRESIDENT CALLS FOR NEGOTIATION AND DIALOGUE AS NUCLEAR TALKS CONTINUEIran in recent years has been under international pressure to halt its nuclear program, as many fear Tehran is actually in pursuit of nuclear weapons development.Iran has not stated it intends to build a nuclear weapon, but it has enriched uranium to near-weapons grade and bolstered its missile program in what experts argue is an important step to ensure Tehran could fire a nuclear warhead. While uranium can be enriched for civil nuclear power and nations across the globe rely on nuclear energy, including the U.S., which utilizes nuclear energy to supply nearly 20% of its energy needs and is its largest source of clean energy, Irans reliance on nuclear energy amounted to less than 1% in 2022, according to the International Energy Agency.IRAN'S KHAMENEI LAUNCHES BLISTERING ATTACK ON TRUMP AFTER MIDDLE EAST VISITThe White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digitals questions over whether it has in fact demanded that Tehran halt all uranium enrichment. However, Khamenei suggested the Trump administrations push to negotiate on Irans nuclear program could be short-lived."Indirect negotiations took place during Martyr Raisi's term similar to whats happening now. Needless to say, there was no result," he added in reference to negotiation attempts under the Biden administration. "We dont think these negotiations will yield results now either. We dont know what will happen."Reports suggested that the fifth round of nuclear talks could take place this weekend in Rome, but Khamenei, as well as his Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, said Iran had not yet agreed to the talks following the U.S. latest demands. "A date has been suggested, but we have not yet accepted it," Araqchi told reporters Tuesday, according to a Reuters report. "We are witnessing positions on the U.S. side that do not go along with any logic and are creating problems for the negotiations."That's why we have not determined the next round oftalks, we are reviewing the matter and hope logic will prevail," Araqchi added.
