Trump quips 'they didn't die of COVID' when asked if Israel killed Iranian officials
    www.foxnews.com
President Donald Trump joked on Friday morning about the fate of Iranian officials in the wake of Israels recent airstrike, according to CNN's Dana Bash. After months of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, Israel attacked Irans nuclear and missile infrastructure early Friday, taking out at least 20 senior Iranian commanders and inflicting a significant blow to Tehran's government. Two of the most prominent officials killed in the strikes were Gen. Hossein Salami, the leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces.Bash spoke on Friday about her phone call with Trump, where she asked him about Secretary of State Marco Rubios initial statement about Israels strikes, which did not explicitly say that the U.S. supported them.TRUMP BELIEVES ISRAEL'S STRIKE ON IRAN COULD IMPROVE CHANCES FOR NUCLEAR DEAL: REPORT"We, of course, support Israel, obviously, and supported it like nobody has ever supported it," Trump said, according to Bash. "It was a very successful attack. Iran should have listened to me when I said - you know, I gave them, I dont know if you know, but I gave them a 60-day warning. And today is day 61.""They should now come to the table to make a deal before it's too late. It will be too late for them. You know, the people I was dealing with are dead," he added, though he wouldn't give specific names, only that the "hardliners" were dead."This is as a result of the attack last night?" Bash asked him."Yeah. They didnt die of the flu. They didnt die of COVID," Bash described him saying "quite sarcastically."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURETrump also told Fox News Bret Baier on Friday that "The Iranians were hit 10 times worse than they thought they would be.""They werent ready to negotiate. I think they may be now. Well see," Trump said regarding the future of Irans nuclear program. Senior U.S. officials told Fox News that a long list of nuclear scientists and military leaders were targeted by Israels surprise airstrikes Friday. The officials added that 90% of Irans top nuclear scientists, as well as other senior military officers and other Iranian leaders, may have been targeted in the strikes.

    www.foxnews.com
ESPN star Stephen A. Smith slammed Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., on Friday after the lawmaker disrupted Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noems press conference, which led to him being forcibly removed and handcuffed."Here you have this Sen. Alex Padilla Can Kristi Noem speak? Could you have waited till she finished to ask your questions, to shout your questions?" he said on "The Stephen A. Smith Show.""You are a senator, right? You couldn't wait? So that was just you out of control because you were just losing it, huh. You, a United States senator, couldn't compose yourself and let the head of Homeland Security finish her thoughts before you ask the question. Couldn't do that, huh? Couldn't do it, huh?" Smith added.CONSERVATIVES ERUPT AFTER DEM SENATOR'S 'TEMPER TANTRUM' SENDS DHS PRESSER OFF THE RAILSThe DHS endorsed Smith's statements on X after releasing a statement addressing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass's criticism of their handling of Padilla."What @stephenasmith said," the account said, with the video of Smith.DHS also tweeted, "Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem. Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers repeated commands."@SecretService thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately. Secretary Noem met with Senator Padilla after and held a 15 minute meeting."Smith went on to slam Padilla for "propping" himself up."That's why you should be looking at Governor Wes Moore of Maryland, you should be looking at Josh Shapiro, governor of Pennsylvania," Smith said."You know, the people that don't engage in this kind of nonsense. You're talking about propping yourself. It's all nonsense. It's all used as a tool to divide us."Padilla, the first Latino elected to the Senate from California, sparked amedia firestorm Thursday over the press conference incident where his office says hewas trying to ask Noem a question before he was "forcibly removed by federal agents, forced to the ground and handcuffed" in the wake of the Los Angeles riots.KRISTI NOEM SUSPECTS 'COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE' DEMOCRATIC SENATOR 'WANTED THE SCENE'While Noam was speaking, Padilla attempted to shout over the Trump administration official. Law enforcement intervened to impede Padilla's advance. The video of officers removing and then bringing Padilla to the ground quickly spread among lawmakers on Capitol Hill, with some senators watching the spectacle unfold on the Senate floor.Democratic lawmakers universally condemned the level of force used to remove Padilla, and staged a march to the offices of both House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., in protest. Some demanded that Noem resign from her post.Padilla was blasted by his Republican colleagues for potentially breaking the law and making "a spectacle of himself" rather than fulfilling responsibilities.

Nancy Mace's question during a House Oversight Committee hearing where several of the country's governors testified."What is a woman?" Mace asked Walz after several minutes of the two officials going back and forth over various topics. Mace peppered Walz with questions about comparing immigration officials to the Gestapo, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, his time in China in the late 1980s, his time in the military, school shooters and other topics.Walz paused to gather himself before responding.GOP LEADERSHIP UNLEASHES FURY ON DEM GOVERNOR AHEAD OF BLOCKBUSTER CONGRESSIONAL HEARING"I'm not sure I understand the question here," Walz told Mace. "You guys are the party of violence, and you're the party erasing women. You don't respect us. You're a bigot. You're a misogynist. You're a sexist. Mr. Chairman, I yield back."WALZ RIPPED FOR 'SICKENING' USE OF NAZI-ERA LANGUAGE DESCRIBING TRUMP'S IMMIGRATION POLICY: 'ANTI-AMERICAN'Walz attempted to respond, but the Republican chairman of the committee moved on to the next questioner as Walz laughed off the question."Tampon Tim Walz couldnt define a woman today in GOP Oversight when I had him in the pressure cooker," Mace said on social media with a video of the exchange. "He was speechless."Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who just allowed a boy to win a girls state title in his state and was supposed to win male voters for Kamala, is asked by Nancy Mace what a woman is, he says he doesnt understand the question," Clay Travis, commentator and founder of Outkick, said on X."Governor Walz has failed Minnesota. Victor Perez's time on the notoriously challenging Oakmont golf course Friday proved to be memorable. The French golfer carded a rare ace during second-round competition at the U.S. Open.It was just the second hole-in-one on record in a U.S. Open at Pennsylvania's Oakmont Country Club. Perez also celebrated with his playing partners, Adam Schenk and Jacob Bridgeman, as spectators applauded.Perez admitted nailing an ace isn't solely based on skill."Obviously, a hole-in-one takes a little bit of luck," Perez said. "Honestly, I was trying to hit something maybe 15-20 feet past the hole. Maybe it spun a little more and bounced in. I was a little fortunate, which I'll definitely take."LIV GOLF STAR PATRICK REED MAKES HISTORY WITH RARE ALBATROSS AT US OPENAccording to Perez, it was the ninth ace of his career. He said he made two in the Bahamas at his home course but no one could corroborate it because he was playing alone at the time."They didn't believe me at home because I was playing by myself," Perez said. "Now, they'll know."The last known ace when Oakmont hosted a U.S. Open happened in 1983. Scott Simpson carded an ace that year on the 16th hole in the first round. The ace helped Perez recover from a rough second-round start. Returned illegal Abrego Garcia pleads not guilty; judge yet to rule on pretrial custody
    www.foxnews.com
After nearly six hours of testimony Friday, accused human trafficker Kilmar Abrego Garcia is no closer to learning whether he can be released from custody pending his federal trial in Nashville. The pretrial hearing began with Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 member charged with the trafficking of undocumented migrants and conspiring with others to do so, pleading not guilty.Garcias legal team toldU.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes Friday it had time to review the indictment and that Garcia understood what he is accused of before he formally entered the plea, which stems from a 2022 traffic stop. The federal criminal case against Abrego Garcia comes after a high-profile, protracted legal fight over his deportation and theTrump administration's effortsto delay his return to the U.S., even after the Supreme Court ordered the administration to "facilitate" his release.DEMOCRATS CELEBRATE RETURN OF SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKER KILMAR ABREGO GARCIAAbrego Garcia sat silently during the proceedings, wearing a red jumpsuit with an orange undershirt, his gaze mostly concentrated on the prosecution and a window in the courtroom. Abrego Garcias mother, brother and wife were present in court, as were members of the nonprofit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which was helping with some translations for the family and providing moral support.During the hearing, the prosecution brought forward Special Agent Peter Joseph, who told prosecutors he was first assigned to Abrego Garcias case in April 2025, when Abrego Garcia was still detained in El Salvador.Since then, Joseph said, he has reviewed footage from Abrego Garcias 2022 traffic stop, which has emerged as the basis of the human smuggling charges. At the time, Joseph told prosecutors, Abrego Garcia had been driving a vehicle with nine passengers and was pulled over while traveling from St. Louis to Maryland with an expired license.HOMELAND SECURITY REVEALS IDENTITIES OF THE 4 PUBLIC SAFETY THREATS WHO ESCAPED NEWARK ICE FACILITYSix of the nine passengers in the vehicle have since been identified as being in the country illegally, Joseph said, adding one passenger in the van told officers he was born in 2007, which would have made him just 15 at the time.Joseph said that, based on evidence, Abrego Garcia was paid $1,000 per trip and that he would transport 50 people per month.ICE BREAKOUT IN NEW JERSEY SYMPTOM OF DEMOCRATIC CHAOS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, LOCAL GOP LEADER SAYSIn addition to the smuggling, Joseph alleged Abrego Garcia also engaged in inappropriate conduct with underage girls he was transporting, including a 15-year-old allegedly asked by Abrego Garcia to send him nude photos.During the defenses cross-examination, however, it was noted that Joseph was not present for some of the interviews with female sources, which led the defense to claim his testimony was based on hearsay and should be thrown out.Holmes, however, allowed all the testimony, without striking anything.Acting U.S. Attorney Robert McGuire also discussed two protective orders filed by Abrego Garcias wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, in 2020 and 2021, in which she described him as abusive and domineering.McGuire argued in favor of Abrego Garcia remaining detained pending trial, saying he poses a flight risk and a danger to the public based on what he called a commonsense view of the highway patrol traffic stop and the evidence presented in court of there being serious concerns about the transportation of minors. However, WillAllensworth, a federal public defender representing Abrego Garcia, argued the testimony was disorganized and that it is unclear how much of it was based on hearsay. He claimed there should be no concern about Abrego Garcia being a flight risk because he would go straight into ICE custody.APPEALS COURT GRANTS TRUMP SHORT-TERM WIN OVER BOASBERG IN IMMIGRATION RULINGAnother public defender, Dumaka Shabazz, argued the charge being leveled is not a crime of terrorism, which he said clearly supports his release. Shabazz also said Abrego Garcia has experienced trauma and depression due to his deportation, has strong ties to the community and all of his loved ones are in the U.S., so he has no incentive to flee.CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGEHolmes did not set a date for the next court hearing but said it will be determined soon.
