Prosecutors to dismiss charges against California doctor accused of poisoning husband with Drano: report
The criminal case against a California doctor accused of poisoning her estranged husband with Drano is facing a major setback this week after prosecutors told a court they need to dismiss the charges because a key witness wouldn't be available at trial, according to a new report. They plan to refile the case, according to KCAL-TV, which first reported the dismissal.Dr. Yue "Emily" Yu, a 48-year-old dermatologist from Irvine, California, was accused of spiking her then-husband's tea and lemonade with drain cleaner for months in 2022.CALIFORNIA DOCTOR SAYS HE CAUGHT WIFE DUMPING DRANO IN HIS LEMONADE AFTER HE RIGGED KITCHEN WITH CAMERASThe victim is Dr. Jack Chen, a radiologist who said he suffered stomach ulcers and internal injuries between April and March of that year before he rigged his kitchen with surveillance cameras and recorded his wife pouring the chemical into drinking cups.Yu's lawyers have denied she was poisoning anyone and said she was looking to kill ants in the home following a method suggested by her husband, Fox News Digital reported previously. They blamed his stomach problems on gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD.DOCTOR WHO SAYS WIFE SPIKED TEA WITH DRANO SUFFERS FROM ACID REFLUX, NOT POISONING: LAWYER"They had a big ant problem in the kitchen," attorney Scott Simmons said after an Orange County arraignment in 2023. "Jack Chen tells her to put the Drano into this lemonade or tea in order to bait and kill the ants. He then sets up what he calls 'spy cameras' to capture her pouring the Drano into the cup then falsely accuses her of trying to poison him."Chen filed for a divorce the same day he asked the judge to grant him the order of protection, according to his lawyer, Steven Hittleman. He also accused his wife and mother-in-law of domestic abuse and of isolating him from his children.David Wohl, one of Yu's attorneys, has called Chen's allegations "false" and said they are motivated by the divorce and custody battle."Ms. Emily Yu vehemently and unequivocally denies ever attempting to poison her husband or anyone else," he told Fox News Digital after her arrest. "As a well-respected physician, her goal as always been to help people and never to harm people. Accordingly, she also strongly denies her husband's claims of abusing him and their children emotionally and physically."Yu would face up to eight years in prison if convicted.

Air pollution may play a bigger role in cognitive decline than anyone realized
Air pollution could worsen Alzheimers and dementia symptoms, according to a new study.Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania have found that air pollution may accelerate the buildup of toxic proteins in the brain, which can speed up cognitive decline. The study, published in JAMA Neurology, investigated how fine particle matter (PM2.5) was linked to brain changes seen in dementia and Alzheimers and the severity of symptoms.ALZHEIMER'S RISK COULD RISE WITH SPECIFIC SLEEP PATTERN, EXPERTS WARNThe brains of 602 people were examined after death at the Penn Medicine Brain Bank from 1999 to 2022. This data was analyzed from January to June 2025.The participants included those with common dementias and movement disorders, as well as older adults without dementia. The researchers estimated how much air pollution each person was exposed to in the year before death or prior to their last dementia assessment, based on their home address.People exposed to higher pollution were found to have more advanced Alzheimers-type changes in their brains.MAKING THESE 11 LIFESTYLE CHANGES COULD WARD OFF ALZHEIMER'S, EXPERT SAYSEach increase in PM2.5 was linked to 19% higher odds of having more severe Alzheimers. The study also considered a smaller group of 287 people who had dementia assessments before death. For this group, higher PM2.5 exposure was linked to worsened cognitive and functional decline, including memory loss, impaired judgment, and difficulty with personal care and speech.About 63% of the link between air pollution and dementia severity could be explained by Alzheimers-related brain changes, according to the researchers.Edward Lee, M.D., Ph.D., co-director of Penns Institute on Aging, commented on these findings in a press release for the study.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER"This study shows that air pollution doesnt just increase the risk of dementia it actually makes Alzheimers disease worse," he said. "As researchers continue to search for new treatments, its important to uncover all the factors that contribute to the disease, including the influence of the environment in which they live."Lee added that air pollution in the U.S. is at the "lowest levels in decades," but even just a year living in a high-pollutant area can have a "big impact on a persons risk of developing Alzheimers disease."The study did have some limitations, the researchers acknowledged. The individuals studied were primarily White, highly educated and from "advantaged neighborhoods." The study also focused on Alzheimer's and was not representative of other forms of dementia. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/healthThe study also could have underestimated air pollution's impact on blood vessels in the brain, they noted. This research was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Cruz clashes with Nigeria over his claims 50,000 Christians killed since 2009 in religious violence
FIRST ON FOX: A diplomatic battle is being waged between leading Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Nigerian government officials. The Texas senator has warned he will hold officials accountable for the reported "mass slaughter" of tens of thousands of Christians in Nigeria. The officials say Cruz is lying, with one claiming that despite even the pope publicly calling out the killings, there is religious harmony in the country.Nigeria is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a Christian, according to international Christian advocacy group Open Doors Internationals 2025 World Watch List (WWL). An estimated 48% of the population is Christian. Butof the 4,476 Christians reported killed worldwide in WWLs latest reporting period, 3,100 69% were in Nigeria.WHITE HOUSE RESPONDS TO SURGE IN CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION CRISIS ACROSS SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAOn Saturday, the spokesperson for Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu told a Lagos newspaper that Cruz should "stop these malicious, contrived lies" over the murders. In response, Cruz, the chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy, told Fox News Digital, "Nigerias federal governmentand a dozen state governments enforce blasphemy laws in their criminal and sharia codes, and they ignore or facilitate mob violence targeting Christians."On Friday, the Nigerian minister of information, Mohammed Idris, spoke exclusively to Fox News Digital, rejecting Cruzs claims of Christian massacres in his country. "The Nigerian government rejects that. This is certainly not true," he said.In reaction, Cruz told Fox News Digital that the killings"are the result of decisions made by specific people, in specific places, at specific times. The United States knows who those people are, and I intend to hold them accountable".Cruz said,"Since 2009, over 50,000 Christians in Nigeria have been massacred, and over 20,000 churches and Christian schools have been destroyed. These atrocities are directly linked to the policies of Nigerian federal and state officials. They are the result of decisions made by specific people, in specific places, at specific times and it says a great deal about who is lashing out now that a light is being shone on these issues."On Friday, Cruz posted on X: "Officials in Nigeria are ignoring and even facilitating the mass murder of Christians by Islamist jihadists. Its time to hold those responsible accountable." He went on to refer to a new bill he has introduced in the Senate: "My Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act would target these officials with powerful sanctions and other tools."FEARS REMAIN THIS EASTER THAT CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA ARE BEING WIPED OUT' BY MUSLIM EXTREMISTSThis drew an immediate response from Nigerian presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. Interviewed by the Nigerian Daily Post the next day, Onanuga demanded, "Senator, stop these malicious, contrived lies against my country. Christians are not targeted. We have religious harmony in our country."Idris told Fox News Digital that Cruzs comments are "very misleading. This is not true. This is not the reflection of what is on the ground. I mean it's false where you say over 20,000 churches have been burned. It's also false if you say 52,000 (Christians killed), where did he get those numbers from? I think this is absolutely absurd. It's not supported by any facts whatsoever. The Nigerian government rejects that. No Nigerian officials will willingly, deliberately indulge in the act of siding with violent extremists to target any particular religion in this country. This is absolutely false."Idris also stated, "Nigeria is a multi-faith country, meaning that it's a country that has multiple religions. We have Christians, we have Muslims, we even have those who don't believe in any of these two religions. Nigeria is a very tolerant country. The government of Nigeria is committed to ensuring that there is religious freedom in this country, but we do have extremist organizations in this country."Idris continued, "It's unfortunate sadly, that some of these extremists have killed a number of Christians and a number of Muslims almost everywhere where this violent extremism has support. So it's (the accusation by Sen. Cruz) not true. We find that to be very unfortunate. It's despicable, it's not right. This is absolutely false to say that there is a calculated or a deliberate attempt to kill a particular religious group, is not correct and we find that really very, very unfortunate.POPE, STATE DEPARTMENT CONDEMN LATEST MASSACRE OF CHRISTIANS BY ISLAMIST MILITANTS IN NIGERIAOpen Doors Natalie Blair says independent data from Nigeria shows "Christians can be targeted by radical extremists, and radical extremists can also kill Muslims who do not conform to their radical ideology." But Blair, a senior member of Open Doors Advocacy team, told Fox News Digital,"Boko Haram and ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) have explicitly and repeatedly declared Christians as targets. And many victims have told us that when Fulani militants attack they dont just shoutAllahu Akbar, (God is Great), they yell, We will destroy all Christians.Blair added: "According to the Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa, data of civilians killed exempting out the military and terrorist deaths in northern Nigeria is unequivocal: more Christians are killed by the extremists than Muslims if you are a Christian you are 6.5 times more likely to be killed than a Muslim. This does not make the suffering of a Muslim less significant, it just makes it less likely."Bishop Wilfred Anagbes Makurdi Diocese is almost exclusively Christian. But the constant and escalating attacks by Muslim Fulani militants led him to testify at a congressional hearing in March in Washington, saying there is "a long-term Islamic agenda (in Nigeria) to homogenize. The population has been implemented over several presidencies through a strategy to reduce and eventually eliminate the Christian identity of half of the population all over Nigeria. These terrorists are going about on a jihad and conquering territories and renaming them accordingly."Idris was dismissive of the bishops congressional testimony: "Let me say that the bishop's position is an extreme one. It's not true. The Nigerian government has debunked that in the past."Open Doors Blair, with access to Nigerian villagers, responded, "We must listen to the voices of those who have experienced the violence firsthand. People on the ground do not trust that anyone will pay for these violent crimes. This is because they have seen hundreds of suspects arrested over the years and then most of them released, having never been charged or brought to trial."Blair concluded, "Theright to life, guaranteed under Section 33 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, is meaningless unless the state acts decisively to punish those who violate it. The ongoing culture of impunity will only result in more bloodshed and continue to erode public trust in the rule of law."

Where addicts in Philadelphia bow to tranq, I saw why God hasn't given up on America yet
"God aint got no power over this hit. God got no power here."The man gestured like a royal but the scene he revealed was the largest open-air drug market on the East Coast the Kensington neighborhood in Philadelphia. The man then sat down on an overturned milk crate, and as he was about to insert the needle into his arm, I looked away. People were everywhere, doing drugs out in the open.WITHOUT GOD, NEW YORK'S DREAM TURNS HOLLOW. MY WALK ACROSS AMERICA PROVES ITI saw a lady, with what I hope was not a baby bump, standing in a frozen position, slouched over to her left side, looking like she was about to fall over.I saw a young teenager with pressed, clean clothes, smoking who knows what, on a curb by himself. It was overwhelming, so many people doing drugs with no shame or care for passing pedestrians or police.I heard the man next to me sigh. He had just shot himself up. I asked him what he put into his body and he smiled, "The good stuff.""Does the good stuff have a name?""Philly dope. Sleep cut. Tranq dope whatever you want to call it, man.""What about you?" I asked. "Whats your name?"He laughed, his entire face tightening up. Then he began gasping for air, trying to catch his breath, his breathing slowing and growing heavier. Then he looked at me one last time, his words slurring, "I told you, God got no power here."CHICAGO'S 'ROOFTOP PASTOR' TO EMBARK ON EPIC CROSS-COUNTRY JOURNEY TO BENEFIT AMERICA'S TROUBLED YOUTHThe man leaned forward, suspended midway between sitting and falling onto the ground, then he drifted into the deepest sleep. I looked more closely and saw the most disgusting skin wounds on his body. There were open sores and abscesses. It looked as if his innards were trying to come through his skin.Ive seen a lot in my life on the South Side of Chicago, but nothing like this. The man I was just talking to it wasnt hard to see that he was once just your average Joe. Beneath his dirtiness and physical decay, he looked like a college type and a finance bro. But he got hooked on the horse tranquilizers, and Kensington, the only place with a steady supply, became his home. But was it true that God has no power here?I have been walking across America to revive the American Dream and to revive our countrys faith in God. But even I had my doubts when I walked into Kensington.I thought: what would Jesus do here? What would he do? I know he wouldnt turn away from this hell on earth. Hed be right there, among the zombies and needles and pipes, just as He was with the lepers, the outcasts and sinners in His time.THE BATTLE FOR AMERICAS FUTURE MUST BEGIN AGAIN IN PLACES WE'VE WRITTEN OFFIn Matthew 9:12-13, Jesus says, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."Gods power is not absent in Kensington His power rarely looks like what we expect. Its not a lightning bolt or a flood to clear the streets. Its the quiet, persistent call to mercy, to meeting people in their pain.Kensington has been a drug market since the 1960s, when Philadelphia underwent its great deindustrialization. By the 1990s, it was known as the heroin capital of America. The rest is history.Countless numbers of people have come through this small neighborhood offering their solutions. The citys new mayor recently announced a five-phase plan to close down the drug market. One part was a massive city sweep, followed by shorter business hours and more police patrols. While it is clear that the main thoroughfare, Kensington Avenue, has been mostly cleared out, the drug activity has moved to the side streets, where I stand today.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe one thing though, that has been missing in all of this is the power of Jesus and the Almighty Lord. Jesus would sit on that milk crate, look the man in the eyes, and see past the sores to the college kid he may have once been. Hed touch the untouchable like he did with the leper in Mark 1:40-42 where He knew the soul needed healing far more than the body. From San Franciscos Tenderloin District to here, the problem is spiritual our souls need nourishment. When I encounter lost men on my streets on the South Side of Chicago, my only aim is to reach their souls and nourish them with the word of God. He works through me, His humble disciple. Ive seen the most lost of men come back to life with this Word, their belief taking them higher and higher out of their misery to the good life itself. At one point in their journeys, I tell them that they are "the light of the world let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."I hold no illusions about what I saw in Kensington, but I do believe God is everywhere and within all of us even that young man who denied His presence.I prayed long over his sleepy body. I promised God I would return before leaving Philly, find that man, and tell him hes wrong about God and His power.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM PASTOR COREY BROOKS

Israels covert campaign targets Hamas terrorists behind Oct 7 massacre
Israel continues to conduct an extensive campaign to locate and eliminate Palestinian terrorists involved in the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre, analysts told Fox News Digital, describing the policy as a decades-old doctrine aimed at both deterrence and retribution.Last month, the Israel Defense Forces announced the elimination of Hasan Mahmoud Hasan Hussein, who on Oct. 7 led the brutal attack on a bomb shelter on Route 232 in Kibbutz Reim, where 16 people were brutally murdered in the assault. Four others were taken hostage to Gaza, including Israeli American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was later killed in captivity. The IDF also confirmed the deaths of Yousef Mahmoud Muhammad Jumaa, head of the Hamas cell that raided Kibbutz Alumim; Mahmoud Afana, who infamously boasted to his parents about murdering 10 Jews during the terror invasion; and Mohammed Hassan Mohammed Awad who held slain hostagesShiri Bibas and her two children, Kfir and Ariel and was implicated in their murders, and also the deaths of American citizens Gad Haggai and Judy Weistein.ISRAEL ELIMINATES GAZA TERRORIST WHO TOOK PART IN OCT. ATTACK ON KIBBUTZ, TOOK YARDEN BIBAS HOSTAGEIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to settle scores with Hamas, previously asserting, "We will not rest, nor will we be silent. We will pursue you, we will find you and we will settle accounts with you."Maj. Gen. (ret.) Amos Yadlin, former head of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate, said this approach dates back decades."After the Munich Olympics massacre [of 11 Israelis] in 1972, it was decided that everybody involved in planning and executing these horrific terror attacks will be found and killed for three purposes: the first is to preempt further attacks, the second is deterrence and the third is retribution," Yadlin told Fox News Digital. He said that the same principles applied when the United States targeted Usama bin Laden afteral Qaedas 9/11 attacks and, more recently, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. "None of these terrorists should die of old age," he said.Yadlin explained that intelligence is gathered by the Shin Bet, Israels domestic security agency akin to the FBI; Aman, Israels Military Intelligence Directorate, which is the countrys largest intelligence agency; and the Mossad, when the target is located abroad. Strikes are typically carried out by the air force, which he said is highly precise in targeting threats. On July 31, 2024, Israel assassinated Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran during his visit for the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian, using an explosive device covertly planted in the Tehran guesthouse where he was staying. The IDF also killed former Hamas terror chief in Gaza Yahya Sinwar; the head of Hamass armed wing, Mohammed Deif, and more recently, Sinwars brother, Mohammed, who had succeeded him.THE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF HAMASS WAR ON ISRAEL FOR THE US AND GLOBAL SECURITYThe Shin Bet has established a special center devoted exclusively to locating Hamas terrorists who participated in the Oct. 7 massacre, according to Brig. Gen. (ret.) Lior Akerman, a senior researcher at the Institute for Policy and Strategy at Reichman University."They were identified based on intelligence, photographs, testimonies, investigations and more. And from that moment, the hunt begins until they are arrested or eliminated," Akerman, a former Shin Bet agent, told Fox News Digital.Akerman said the Shin Bet followed the same approach during the Second Intifada, the Palestinian terror war in the early 2000s. He noted that Aziz Salha who gained global notoriety from a video showing him lynching two Israeli soldiers in Ramallahs twin city of el-Bireh on Oct. 12, 2000 was killed in October 2024 in an IDF strike in the Gaza Strip.IDF Brig. Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi stressed that gathering intelligence on terrorists is a complex process that relies on multiple sources."The Shin Bet and army intelligence work with many different kinds of sources, some are human intelligence (HUMINT), based on informants who share information. Others cyber, digital capabilities to tap computers or phones, the use of cameras and visual intelligence (VISINT) and the ability to monitor areas with drones," Avivi told Fox News Digital.ISRAELS ARMY WILL 'ADVANCE READINESS' FOR FIRST PHASE OF TRUMP PLAN TO RELEASE HOSTAGES"You would need two sources to verify the position of a terrorist and then also make sure that he is isolated enough so that there is no danger to civilians. Once you manage to find the best operational conditions, then you choose the method of attack," he added.Avivi said that gathering information on Hamas terrorists and the organizations structure has been an ongoing effort for years, including mapping platoons, companies, and battalions, as well as identifying commanders. Prior to the Oct. 7 attacks, Israeli security forces already possessed extensive intelligence on many of the terrorists involved, including drawing on satellite images and intercepted communications.Brig. Gen. (Res.) Nitzan Nuriel, former director of the Counter-Terrorism Bureau at the Prime Ministers Office (20072012), told Fox News Digital that Israel had captured large volumes of Hamas data, including gigabytes of clips, pictures and documents, which helped analysts piece together critical intelligence. While the Oct. 7 massacre involved far more perpetrators than typical terror attacks in Israelwith some 6,000 storming the border that day Nuriel said the methods for tracking them remain the same; the larger scale, however, means the process will take longer."I believe one of the reasons Hamas will be willing to acceptPresident Trumps peace plan is because it allows many of them to stay out of Israels long-reaching arms," he continued. "If they agree to the entire proposal, some of them will survive."

Jon Stewart mocks 'human flat tire' Chuck Schumer after shutdown press conference
"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart mocked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Monday, likening him to a "human flat tire" after the senators attempt at humor fell flat during a press conference on the current government shutdown."New data came out today from KFF, and that is not Kentucky Fried French Fries. KFF," Schumer joked before turning to Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. He then giggled to himself and said, "Thatd be Kentucky French Fries, hm?""Who is that joke even for? Six-year-olds who watch C-SPAN?" Stewart reacted. "What the f--- are you doing?! Chuck Schumer is a human flat tire. You just cant [Schumer impression] Kentucky Fried French Fry. Look at Klobuchar! Poor Klobuchar. That is the face of someone who talked to their dad, who said, Just please dont do your Indian accent in the restaurant. Thats all Im asking."JEFFRIES CALLS TRUMP BEHAVIOR 'UNHINGED' AND 'UNREASONABLE' WHEN ASKED IF HE FEELS HE CAN NEGOTIATE WITH HIMBefore ripping the senator for his "Kentucky Fried French Fries" joke, Stewart mocked Schumer for his exaggerated, hammer-like hand gestures from the same press conference."The Daily Show" host played a clip of Schumer saying, "Democrats are adamant that we must protect the healthcare of the American people," while repeatedly raising and slamming his fists at his sides."Um, good points," Stewart said half-heartedly after taking a deep breath. "Not crazy about this," he added while impersonating Schumer's hand movements.Stewart joked that if Schumer had stopped after his comments about healthcare, "that would be great. But you're going to keep talking, aren't you?" before torching the senator for his failed joke attempt.CNN'S VAN JONES TURNS ON DEMOCRATS DURING GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN FIGHT OVER POLITICAL STRATEGYThis isnt the first time Stewart has criticized Schumers role as the Democratic Partys spokesman. In February, he pleaded with Democrats to stop "trotting Schumer out" to speak after the senator responded to President Donald Trump's tariffs by telling Americans it would impact beer and guacamole costs."Your response to the trade war is to f---ingtell us guacamole is made of avocados?" Stewart said.Stewart played a clip of Schumer arguing that Trump's proposed tariffs would affect beer and avocados, while holding up a can of Corona and an avocado."Democrats, can you please stop f---ing trotting Schumer out there every time Trump traverses into the unreal? Hes not good at this," Stewart said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe late-night host didn't stop there. In March, Stewart tore into Schumer once again for being ineffectual in countering Trump and congressional Republicans.Stewart compared the Democratic Party to a stationary bike, "pedaling really hard and not going anywhere," after months of failing to block Trump's agenda in the wake of the 2024 election. The late-night host played a clip of Schumer from 2019, when he claimed that he talked with members of the Republican Party "all the time" at the gym, setting Stewart up for a gym-humor crack at the senator."In the gym, theyre only being agreeable with you because they want you to leave them alone, in the gym, on the stationary bike. Oh, sure, Chuck, Im definitely going to do that. But I have to tell you something, pedaling really hard and not going anywhere, its a great metaphor for the Democratic Party right now," Stewart quipped, to the raucous applause of the audience.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News' Hanna Panreck contributed to this report.

Greek yogurt has 'amazing benefits' for the body after workouts, new study says
New research suggests that Greek yogurt offers benefits beyond just protein intake. In a study published in the journal Nutrients on Aug. 29, Canadian researchers monitored the resistance training of 30 healthy, young adult men and analyzed their post-workout snacks of carbohydrates and Greek yogurt.Researchers found that adding Greek yogurt to men's diets lowered certain inflammation markers more effectively than carbohydrates alone.EATING BLUEBERRIES EARLIER IN LIFE COULD EASE ALLERGIES, STRENGTHEN IMMUNITY, NEW STUDY FINDSThe study suggests that post-workout Greek yogurt not only supports muscle growth, but may also help regulate inflammation.Inflammation is a normal response to strength training, when muscle fibers develop small tears. It occurs through soreness, stiffness and swelling.Autumn Bates, a certified clinical nutritionist and author of the upcoming cookbook"How to Eat," told Fox News Digital that Greek yogurt's protein content makes it an ideal post-workout snack."Protein is the primary nutrient needed to recover from a workout," she said.'FOOD IS MEDICINE' MOVEMENT MAY BE KEY TO REVERSING HEALTH DECLINE: HERE'S WHAT TO EAT"Greek yogurt is rich in an amino acid called leucine, which is required for optimal muscle repair and recovery. Carbs can help replace muscle glycogen, but it does not provide the building blocks needed, amino acids, for muscle recovery."Bates, who is also a personal trainer, makes her own Greek yogurt and said she saves about $450 a year by doing so.To reap the full benefits of the dairy dish, she said to only purchase plain, unsweetened and ideally full-fat Greek yogurt."Full-fat has been found to be more satiating than low-fat versions, which means you're less likely to snack between meals," Bates noted.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER"Plus, full-fat dairy is significantly higher in vitamin K2, which is a necessary nutrient for bone, heart and dental health. Because vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin, you remove most of it when you opt for low-fat dairy."Jill Charton, a celebrity fitness trainer based in Georgia, noted Greek yogurt's probiotic benefits, which support gut health."However, eating other anti-inflammatory foods like fatty fish, raw nuts and seeds, berries, leafy greens and healthy fats, like olive oil, while reducing processed foods, trans fats, refined sugars and avoiding alcohol and smoking can also help reduce inflammation in our body," she added.MORE FROM FOX NEWS LIFESTYLEThe trainer told Fox News Digital that regular exercise and getting enough sleep are also crucial to reducing inflammatory markers, as well as staying hydrated and avoiding stress."Taking high-quality supplements like omega-3 fatty acids, curcumin and certain vitamins, like vitamin D, may help reduce inflammation," Charton added. "But always consult with a healthcare provider and get blood work done so you can see where your inflammation and blood levels are at before starting any new supplements."If you're not a fan of Greek yogurt's tangy taste, Bates suggests mixing in protein powder to balance the flavor or blending it into a smoothie."As long as you're eating enough protein, including protein from Greek yogurt, within 24 hours after your workout, then you'll still see amazing benefits," she said.
