WWW.FOXNEWS.COMLiberal critics target Bari Weiss after CBS News Editor-in-Chief appointment announcementBari Weiss, the Free Press founder who was tapped yesterday as editor-in-chief at CBS News, is being smeared.I can tell you, from having interviewed her and followed the extraordinary online news and commentary site she created that this is an extremely smart and talented woman. She was a top opinion editor at the New York Times, where she melded liberal views she couldnt stand Donald Trump with more conservative stances, such as believing the Democrats have moved too far left on some issues. Weiss resigned after three years, following what she described as "bullying by colleagues.""Intellectual curiosity" was "now a liability at the Times," she said, and some colleagues "called me a Nazi and a racistShowing up for work as a centrist at an American newspaper should not require bravery."BARI WEISS JOINS CBS NEWS AS EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, PARAMOUNT BUYS FREE PRESS FOR $150 MILLIONCBS, now controlled by the billionaire Ellison family, along with parent company Paramount, is a very different place. Larry Ellison, the Oracle co-founder, is a Trump pal. And the old network had drawn flak for the misleading "60 Minutes" Kamala Harris interview, which led to a $16-million settlement of the presidents lawsuit. With the new CBS buying Free Press for $150 million, Bari will be pretty wealthy and that fueled the online backlash. Many libs are outrageously portraying Bari as a right-wing nutjob.Jamelle Bouie, an ultra-liberal columnist at the Times: "A heartwarming story of how being an unethical and talentless hack is no barrier to your success when you are willing to endlessly flatter the ratchet views of rich dipshits."Walker Bragman: "Bari Weiss is a misinformation-peddling right-wing operative. She is totally unqualified for this job."Nikole Hannah-Jones, author of the Times hugely controversial 1619 Project: "Zero news experience. Never been a reporter."Well, lets look at a former CBS News president, Sean McManus, who I know quite well. He took a series of production and management jobs in sports, became president of CBS Sports, and then was handed the news division as well. Hes never been a reporter either. I dont recall anyone questioning his credentials. So thats a bogus argument. And how incompetent could she be to build from scratch an organization that is worth a small fortune?"The values that weve hammered out here over the years journalism based in curiosity and honesty, a culture of healthy disagreement, our shared belief in Americas promise now have the opportunity to go very, very big," she posted yesterday.'60 MINUTES' KAMALA HARRIS INTERVIEW AT CENTER OF TRUMP LAWSUIT RUNS AFOUL OF CRONKITE-ERA CBS GUIDELINES"What does this mean for CBS News? It means a redoubled commitment to great journalism. It means building on a storied legacyand bringing that historic newsroom into 2025 and beyond. Most of all, it means working tirelessly to make sure CBS News is the most trusted news organization in the world."That may take a while. A Pew Research survey found 39 percent trusting CBS News and 23 percent distrusting it.Bari, who also worked at the Wall Street Journal, founded the Free Press with her wife, Nellie Bowles, creating a must-read site with a vast array of opinions and 1.5 million subscribers (some of them paid). In our "Media Buzz" interview this year, Bari confirmed that she sobbed at her desk when Trump won the White House in 2016."Look, I'm the first to admit that I was a sufferer of what conservatives at the time called TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, and I was alarmed and really nervous about everything I was reading,"And now? "What I didn't see was that Trump was going to do a lot of policies that I agreed with. I thought the Abraham Accords were historic and excellent. I thought his policy vis-a-vis Iran was excellent. The economy was better."And look, the argument that the country would unravel and democracy would die in darkness and Trump would be this authoritarian, Hitlerian power, it was impossible to make that argument in the run-up to this election only because Americans had lived through four years of him and things didn't fall apart."CBS NEWS STAFFERS RECEIVE NEW MARCHING ORDERS, URGED TO TREAT DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS EQUALLYSo how did she wind up at the Times in the first place?"Howie, I was a diversity hire," she said, not really joking.Bari started getting plenty of speaking invitations from conservatives, and recalls one in particular: "A consistently liberal Jewish lesbian from Pittsburgh. Who's a journalist, and I was being invited to the Federalist Society. It seemed kind of insane."I asked her whether hanging out with zillionaires as she was raising money had changed her. She said she didnt think so but understood how others might view it differently.Anyone who doubts her knowledge of how television works should look at her "Honestly" podcast. Her guests have ranged from Marco Rubio to Rahm Emanuel, from Amanda Knox to Mike Huckabee, from Andrew Cuomo to Amy Coney Barrett. Her finesse, and knowledge of movies, were recently on display in her 98-minute video podcast with Woody Allen.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPShe got him to talk about the Knicks, love affairs, death, and why he doesnt care what people think of him. But she also pressed him aggressively on the accusations, which he denies and were never proven, of child sexual abuse and how that scandal affected his life. When Woody was awkwardly silent, she just waited him out.Thats why the left-wing sliming of the "consistently liberal" Bari Weiss, perhaps tinged by a bit of jealousy, is missing the mark. But reshaping the battered CBS News will be no small challenge.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 64 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMThe Schumer shutdown could be Trump's best chance to drain the swampPresident Donald Trump is threatening significant layoffs of federal workers unless talks aimed at ending the "Schumer shutdown" show some progress. Theyre not even close; as Senator John Kennedy posted on X: "Youd need an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all the Senate Democrats demands for re-opening the government."What is the White House waiting for? After all, Team Trump has been encouraging the downsizing of federal agencies since it took office. Just eight days after the president was inaugurated, the Office of Personnel Management sent an email inviting almost the entire federal workforce to resign. As of today, some 150,000 federal employees have taken advantage of the offer; most will be leaving their positions in coming weeks.TRUMP SAYS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN LAYOFFS ARE 'UP TO' DEMS AS STANDOFF CONTINUESDemocrats are horrified at the threat of layoffs and at any attempt to shrink the governments workforce. For them, every federal job is sacred, even as our debt spirals out of control. This country was spending at an annualized rate of less than $5 trillion per year when COVID hit; that jumped almost overnight to more than $7 trillion, and we have never looked back. Everyone seems to agree that current spending levels are "unsustainable", coming in at levels historically only seen during wars or national emergencies, but then our elected officials plow right ahead sustaining them.Asked why the White House might take advantage of this opportunity to cut overhead, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt answered, "Because we have an administration and we have a president who are wholeheartedly focused on restoring fiscal sanity to our government and doing the right thing by the American taxpayer."Spending is popular and politically appealing; retrenchment is not. To its credit, the Trump administration has boldly attempted to cut waste and fraud, estimated by former President Joe Bidens own General Accountability Office (GAO) to total $233 billion to $521 billion each year. The public isnt fooled. A survey done by the CATO Institute in April showed the public believes that the government "wastes 59 of every $1 it spends." Thats quite an indictment and probably explains why 89 percent of respondents were in favor of auditing all government spending, in order to root out waste and fraud. Moreover, CATO found that "Americans Would Cut 40 Percent Across the Board."Alas, its not so easy, as Elon Musk found out. He took on reforming the government through the Department of Government Efficiency, which met with near-hysterical resistance from Democrats. Critics deride DOGEs efforts, noting that federal spending continues to rise. That is true, but much of the increase in spending like rising interest rates or Social Security is beyond the reach of DOGE.The good news is that DOGE is still at it, working quietly behind the scenes to eliminate wasteful programs. Just recently, the group announced that "agencies terminated and descoped 94 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $8.5B and savings of $546M, including a $533k Dept. of Commerce consulting contract for editing support services to the Fisheries Resource Division" In another post, DOGE cites the termination of 55 wasteful contracts[costing hundreds of millions of dollars] including a $163k HHS education & training contract to "provide information on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"The liberal media tries to discredit DOGEs work, but Musks previous team credibly argues their successes, calling one NPR article "careless at best, or malicious." No one is surprised.Politicians tend to protect their pork. The GAO, while estimating that much of the taxpayer's dime was flushed down the federal toilet, concluded that, "Given the scope of the problem, a government-wide approach is required to address it." Shockingly, no one in the Biden White House lifted a finger.Today, the Trump White House has a chance to eliminate more government jobs. They should grab it; it may not come again. In that CATO survey, more than half thought the government employed too many people; 62% would support trimming the federal workforce. That looks like a mandate. They could start with some of the 441 federal agencies listed in the Federal Register, many of which the public has never even heard of, like the Administrative Conference of the United States, or the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.Or how about the Chief Acquisition Officers Council, not to be confused with the Procurement Executive Council or the Federal Acquisition Council, a name change (that probably cost millions) "to provide greater flexibility and a more inclusive reach beyond procurement."Maybe the White House should shutter the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee, which, according to the Federal register, "evaluates all stamp proposals." Or maybe review The Denali Commission, which provides "critical utilities, infrastructure and economic support throughout Alaska."CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWho would want to get rid of the Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology, founded "in 1975 by the Statistical and Science Policy Branch to assist in carrying out SSP/OMB's role in setting and coordinating statistical policy." What exactly is statistical policy? Many of our governments activities are well-meaning, but perhaps not essential, like the Japan-United States Friendship Commission, which "gives grants to stimulate engagement in business, educational, or cultural exchanges with Japan." Arent we friendly with Japan already?Similarly, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, which "conducts and promotes objective research to inform public policy and debate" is perhaps unnecessary. We have hundreds of privately-financed think tanks and universities doing "objective" research.Over time, the federal government has morphed into a gigantic stew of special interest bureaus and agencies promoted by politicians who needed or wanted a favor often a favor for their home state, in return for a crucial vote. Thats politics, but when there is never a culling of such activities, the stew becomes rancid, turning into an ungovernable mass. Thats where we are now.The shutdown has sent even about one third of White House staffers home. The good news is that DOGE employees remain on the job. They have work to do.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 42 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMORNING GLORY: Two years later, the world still fails to grasp Israel's 10/7 horrorOn this, the second anniversary of the massacre in Israel following the invasionfrom Gaza by Hamas and other terrorists, all commentaries about that day of horrors, should begin by recalling the specifics of that attack -- its immediate toll, the brutality of the mayhem and the extraordinary cruelty of killers on that day two years ago. Some 6,000 terrorists invaded Israel that morning, including approximately 3,800 terrorists from Hamas and approximately 2,200 terrorists from other terrorist groups and unaffiliated terrorists.Thats the equivalent of the landing of two brigades of American troops an invasion force close to the size of that which the U.S. deployed to Grenada in Operation Urgent Fury in 1983.ISRAEL, HAMAS MEET IN EGYPT TO REVIVE TRUMP PEACE PLAN AHEAD OF OCT 7 ANNIVERSARYThe terrorists from Gaza murdered more than 1,100 citizens of Israel as well as dozens of foreigners, wounded 5,000 more innocents and kidnapped 250 hostages.Of the 250 hostages, 146 have been freed or rescued, and 83 have been confirmed murdered by Hamas and other terrorists. Hamas and its allies continue to hold 20 live hostages and the remains of 30 others who died in captivity. For the sake of understanding the scale of the trauma experienced by all of Israel and most of worldwide Jewry as well as all decent people in the world, consider this: the population of Israel is almost 10 million; the population of the United States is 340 million. An equivalent terrorist attack on the U.S. would kill more than 40,000 Americans, wound 170,000 and see 8,500 carried away into captivity.Every discussion of the two years of war Israel has endured should begin with those numbers. Its like noting that when Imperial Japan began its war of choice with the United States on December 7, 1941, a total of 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 were wounded. The casualties included 2,008 Navy personnel, 109 Marines, 218 Army personnel and 68 civilians. In the war of retaliation that followed, according to American Heritage magazine, deaths "in the Pacific War included about three million Japanese (two-thirds combatants)."TRUMP WARNS OF 'MASSIVE BLOODSHED' IF HAMAS FAILS TO AGREE TO PEACE DEAL: 'MOVE FAST'American casualties in the Pacific theater over the course of the entire war totaled around 160,000 dead, with a much higher number of wounded. So far, since the war Hamas began, at least 913 members of the Israeli Defense Forces have been killed. Again, to get to an equivalent cost in lives of our uniformed forces, America would have to suffer more than 31,000 "killed in action" ("KIA").Approximately 33,700 Americans were killed in action in the Korean War, 47,400 in the Vietnam War, 150 in the First Gulf War, around 1,900 in the Afghanistan War, and roughly 3,700 in the second Iraq War.So, the civilian toll from a 10/7 level attack on America would be 40,000.Israels military response has cost the IDF and Israel almost the equivalent number of lives lost by the American military in the Korean War and about six times the total number of our war dead in both Iraq Wars and the Afghanistan War waged since 1991.These are the numbers and the scale that Americans must absorb and reflect on at length before offering any opinion on Israels response to the invasion by Hamas and other terrorists on 10/7 - or on attacks since then on Israel from Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, Shia militias in Iraq and Syria, from within Israels West Bank, and of course, directly from Iran in the "Islamic Republics" two massive bombardments of Israel since 10/7.Israels seven front war has now entered its third year and may end soon. The United States has no parallel in our collective experience to the past two years in Israel.TRUMP ANNOUNCES ISRAEL AGREES TO GAZA 'INITIAL WITHDRAWAL LINE' AS '3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE' NEARS ENDBut only the willfully ignorant will ignore the scale of that attack on Israel or the burden Israel has borne in the two years since then without making some mental calculations as to what America would have done in the aftermath of anything approaching an equivalent strike on her and her people. That Israel has conquered all its enemies, on all seven fronts, should not dull the sense of shock about what happened two years ago. That Israels response has been one of the most discriminate wars ever waged in retaliation after being invaded and brutalized is an understatement. Propagandists for Hamas and Iran and all of Israels other enemies have counted on the endless churning of the news cycle to dim our memories of that awful day and obscure our vision of how carefully Israel has responded in its just battles that have followed. Those propagandists have actually succeeded among the Wests fellow travelers and useful idiots, but not among any objective and serious outside observers. Those observers will conclude that no other country in history has shown as much restraint as Israel in waging an obviously just war in response to such an invasion and slaughter.John Spencer is a U.S. Army veteran of the Iraq War. He now studies urban warfare at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He has studied Israels military operations in Gaza with professional detachment and a scholarsapproach to data and history."Israel has taken extraordinary steps to limit civilian harm," Spencer posted on X in late July. Israel "warns before attacks using text messages, phone calls, leaflets, and broadcasts," he continued. "It opens safe corridors and pauses operations so civilians can leave combat areas. It tracks civilian presence down to the building level. I have seen missions delayed or canceled because children were nearby. I have seen Israeli troops come under fire and still be ordered not to shoot back because civilians might be harmed."SELF-DESCRIBED 'UNAPOLOGETIC SUPPORTER OF ISRAEL' JOHN FETTERMAN WEIGHS IN AS TRUMP SEEKS TO BROKER PEACE DEALSpencer, aware of the propaganda campaign waged against the IDF unequivocally 24/7/365 on social media and via "activist journalism," laid down the facts at length:"Israel has delivered more humanitarian aid to Gaza than any military in history has provided to an enemy population during wartime. More than 94,000 trucks carrying over 1.8 million tons of aid have entered the territory. Israel has supported hospitals, repaired water pipelines, increased access to clean water, and enabled over 36,000 patients to leave Gaza for treatment abroad. The IDF has coordinated millions of vaccine doses, supplied fuel for hospitals and infrastructure, and facilitated the flow of food and medicine through the UN, aid groups, and private partners. The U.S.Israeli Gaza Humanitarian Foundation alone has delivered more than 82 million mealsone to two million a daywhile weakening Hamass control over aid. This is not genocide. It is responsible and historic mid-war humanitarian policy."Israel has done this against enemies that prepared for a siege in response to its invasion and savagery, by constructing an elaborate underground fortress of tunnels and redoubts an underground warren outfitted to withstand what it thought would be a typical Israeli war of limited duration. Hamas planned on tactical surprise and strategic survival because it knows the history of international pressure on Israel not to win wars but only not lose them. Not this time. While fighting a multi-front war with more restraint than history has ever recorded anywhere in the annals of war, Israel has never flagged in its determination to set free its hostages and to destroy the enemies which began this war. It appears poised to do both. But it is not over yet.POPES TOP DIPLOMAT BLASTS ISRAELS GAZA OFFENSIVE AS ONGOING MASSACRE, CONDEMNS HAMAS ATTACKS10/7 ought to have changed Americans understanding of Israel and the threats which surround it. The savagery of that day two years ago captured on film by the terrorists, undeniable and undenied stunned and revolted most civilized people and scars and sickens any normal person who watched it. That kind of fanaticism evokes the worst of World War II or Stalins or Maos epic cruelty. Worse, in fact, as they did not appear to publicly celebrate death. Even the Nazis were ashamed of their barbarism. Not Hamas and its allies. They celebrated their barbarism. Israel will never forget. Neither should the West.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe lesson of 10/7 that everyone should hold on to: When enemies declare their intent to kill you and your family, to torture and maim before killing or abducting, to wipe out your country and your race or co-religionists believe them. Understand that those enemies are serious and, given the opportunity, that they will do exactly those things. And they will do them with glee and a bloodlust, we had thought subdued, at least in the West. The events of 9/11 did not prepare Americans for 10/7 because the horror of that day appeared to have been perpetrated by 19 hijackers and a handful of planners, though Afghanistans Taliban provided them a safe haven from which to plot and plan.Six thousand invaders was beyond our imagination. It should not be now.For what Hamas did on 10/7, it, and its fellow fanatics, would gladly do again and again to Israel, the United States and any open and pluralist society. The evil of fanatical theocrats is still there, along with the evils of the radical left and its atheist overlords. Every 10/7 should be an Ebenezer to mankinds capacity for cruel killing and its celebration not just in Israel but in America and all other open societies. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMSEN. JOHN KENNEDY: How media went from 'watchdog to attack dog' over Trump and Russia collusion narrativeEditors note: The following is an exclusive excerpt from "How to Test Negative for Stupid: And Why Washington Never Will" by Sen. John Kennedy. Copyright 2025 by John Kennedy. Published with permission from Broadside Books and HarperCollins Publishers. For the first few months of 2017, as I struggled to find my footing in the United States Senate, the Democratic Party, most of the media, the left-leaning think tanks, the academics, and most of the bureaucrats in short, all the permanent Washington types commenced an all-out assault on the man who just won the White House. They accused him of everything except abandoning his children to wolves.Id been in politics for a while; Id seen its dark side. But in all my years watching the mudslinging in Louisiana politics, Id never seen anything like this. Rather than fading, the rumors of Russian manipulation of the election escalated from Russia meddled in the election to Trump actively colluded with Russia to win the election. Now the Russia collusion narrative took center stage and became an obsession, particularly with the media. For them, it was like Will Smith slapped Chris Rock every day. A manic frenzy.Every morning there was a new story, usually quoting anonymous sources. And because I like to read, I consumed almost every one of them. I was skeptical. My mother did not raise a fool, and if she did it was one of my brothers. You didnt have to be a senior at Caltech to see that the reporting had a casual relationship with facts. It was almost all hyperbole and, as I said, anonymous sources. Terms like Steele dossier, pee tape, and FISA warrant may seem today like relics from another era, but back in my early days in the Senate, unsubstantiated rumors about these and other topics were accepted doctrine in Washington, D.C.DEMOCRATS PULLED THE GREATEST POLITICAL CON JOB EVER ON AMERICANS. IT'S FINALLY UNRAVELINGIt was around this time that I first began noticing just how thoroughly some of my Democratic colleagues had lost perspective. When the topic was Trump, everything they served up came with a side order of crazy. The politicians werent alone. The media, which had always leaned left, was in many ways worse than the Democrats. This time they took a hard left and kept driving. In giving up any attempt at objectivity or impartiality, they became an unrecognizable shell of their former selves. This media bias had, of course, been advancing in the American media for a while, but now it exploded.Young journalists (and many old ones too) saw themselves as part of the resistance, a loose coalition of educated people who had little in common other than their utter disdain for Donald Trump. Im not sure many of them appreciated that historically, the term resistance has been reserved for small bands of rebels operating in countries under foreign occupation, not a group of people who are upset about the outcome of a close election. Even after many years of seeing firsthand how ruthless politics could be in my home state, I was surprised at the vitriol that the media directed at President Trump and anyone who supported him. And the reporters were so smug about it. It made me want to stick my head in an oven.THE MEDIA ARE TIME TRAVELING BACK TO 2017 TO FIND THEIR MOJO AND TALKING POINTSNot that I didnt have experience with media chauvinism. Once, in my second Senate race, when I was running against incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu, a reporter for the New Orleans Times-Picayune sat me down and said, "Kennedy, I know weve known each other for a long time, but I have orders to really bust you up in this campaign." And he did. That reporter, now deceased, was telling me that he had received a directive one he intended to comply with to do everything he could to see that Landrieu was re-elected and that I was beaten soundly. I think he thought he was doing me a favor or maybe he just felt guilty, but the whole thing triggered my gag reflex. I mean, pass me the sick bucket. I had seen this deterioration in the media for years, but to hear it spoken out loud disgusted me.In Washington, things only got worse. We now know that Hillary Clinton and her campaign manufactured fake evidence of Trump collusion with Russia (the Steele dossier) and then fed it to the FBI, the rest of the Justice Department, and the media, which sucked it up like a Hoover Deluxe and then used that "evidence" to claim election fraud without investigating the facts. Its no wonder the folks at The New York Times were so shocked, according to one insider account, when Special Counsel Robert Mueller dropped a report showing no evidence of collusion, but the facts didnt matter. All that seemed to matter was emotion. So many journalists, especially young ones who were taught to feel contempt for America when they should feel gratitude and considered an angry Swedish teenager an icon, were pissed that Hillary Clinton lost and that Donald Trump had won. Trump simply triggered them in every way.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThere may also be other explanations. For one thing, Trump undermined the business model that the legacy media had grown fat and happy on. Cable and network news for years had had a growing monopoly as the internet devoured print media like a light snack, and while many of the TV folks were privately (and publicly, as time went on) contemptuous of Trump, they covered him because they wanted the ratings. Trump needed them too. They used each other for the same reason to get attention. But Trump also adroitly used social media, particularly Twitter. Network television, cable TV, and, naturally, newspapers resented it. As journalist and Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan once said, whats good for cable news is often bad for America and humanity.Im not saying that the media, traditional and otherwise, is always the enemy. Much of the time, they are vital. There have been instances in Louisiana, where if it werent for the media, some politicians would have stolen everything that wasnt nailed down. My point is that during the 2016 campaign and the first Trump administration, the media, led by its legacy members, went from watchdog to attack dog. Once-respected journalists reported lies, and treated them as facts. Real, objective journalism became an afterthought. The Russia hoax is only one example. My experience has been that many members of the media think that Trump is a threat to democracy, so he must be stopped at any cost, even if it means destroying democracy. Americans know all about Trump. They also know all about democracy, and they like it. The people who support Trump dont support him because they hate democracy. They support Trump because they think people opposing him hate democracy. And when the press takes sides, the press squanders the peoples trust. Was, or is, the media always wrong? Nope. But when your job is to report facts and you report opinion, or you use facts selectively to advance a narrative, or you continue to balance on your nose, like a trained seal, what "your" side tells you and you squeal with delight when the "other side" stumbles, or you rationalize that this is all OK because its for Americas own good, because Trump hates democracy, well, people stop believing you. Think Im being a snowflake? How hard would it have been to find out that the Hunter Biden laptop was real? And couldnt the media see that President Joe Biden couldnt finish a sentence without taking a nap? Everyone else could.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM SEN.
