AOC stars in Newsom redistricting ad, urging Californians to 'fight' Trump for democracy
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is once again sparking campaign buzz for participating in an advertisement advocating California redistricting."Trump is redrawing maps to force a Congress that only answers to him not the people," Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., said while posting a viral video of Ocasio-Cortez on X. "@AOC knows California can stop him with Prop 50."California voters will decide during November's special election whether to temporarily redraw new congressional district maps in response to President Donald Trump successfully urging Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans to secure five additional Republican-leaning districts through their own redistricting process."Prop 50 levels the playing field and gives power back to the people," the New York Democrat said in the ad, urging Californians to "fight for democracy in all 50 states" by voting "yes on 50."AOC ALLEGEDLY EYEING 2028 RUN AS DNC VICE CHAIR RALLIES PARTY NEEDS MAMDANI TO OCASIO-CORTEZ AS LEADERSIf passed, Prop 50 would allow California's Democratic supermajority to redraw its congressional districts to secure five more Democrat-leaning congressional districts, leveling the playing field against Texas redistricting. More states, including Missouri and Ohio, have their own redistricting plans ahead of competitive midterm elections expected in 2026."California, you know we don't back down from a fight," the New York Democrat said in the ad. "And this November, the fight belongs to you."NEWSOM UNVEILING CALIFORNIA REDISTRICTING EFFORT TO COUNTER TRUMP-BACKED PUSH IN TEXASThe video has been viewed by more than 2 million people in the 24 hours since Newsom posted it."Seven years in, some politicians are *finally* understanding why bringing @AOC into our fight is a good thing!" Democratic strategist Rebecca Katz responded on X.The Bronx representative also appears in a Spanish version of the ad, which was paid for by Yes on 50."Donald Trump is redrawing election maps to force through a Congress that only answers to him, not the people. If he gets away with it, all bets are off for our healthcare, our paychecks and our freedoms. With Prop 50, we can stop him," she said, looking directly into the camera. The California Republican Party criticized Newsom for "relying on a New Yorker" to "tell Californians how to vote.""Its part of their disturbing pattern: silence the debate, control the outcome, and erase the people who think differently. Dont let them rig the system. Vote NO on Prop 50!" California Republicans said on X.Meanwhile, former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is trying to terminate California Democrats' redistricting fight. The ad was released on the heels of an Axios' report saying Ocasio-Cortez's team is positioning her for a 2028 presidential or U.S. Senate run.Former Vice President Kamala Harris made apparent jabs at her potential 2028 presidential opponents in her new book, "107 Days," which was released Tuesday. "Hiking. Will call back. (He never did.)" was Newsom's response when Harris reached out after President Joe Biden suspended his re-election campaign, according to the book. But Harris only had positive words for Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress."AOC goes deep into policy but has a lightness with people, a joyful warrior vibe," Harris said in the book. "Her talent for deconstructing complex issues and her commitment to getting justice for working people make her an invaluable leader in this moment."Ocasio-Cortez sparked plenty of campaign buzz earlier this year when she joined Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on his widely popular "Fighting Oligarchy" tour.In April, Ocasio-Cortez's campaign account posted a video on X that invigorated rumors she could be mulling a presidential run as the four-term Democrat from New York City and the progressive leader proclaimed, "We are one."When asked later that month if she was harboring any presidential ambitions, the young Democrat did not rule out 2028 presidential aspirations to Fox News Digital. The momentum around Ocasio-Cortez comes as Democrats are searching for new party leadership following consequential losses up and down the ballot in 2024.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPOcasio-Cortez and Sanders have both endorsed and supported New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's campaign despite establishment Democrats' reluctance to embrace the self-identified Democratic socialist's platform.Newsom and Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

5 times Democrats blasted ICE with harsh rhetoric
Democrats fiercest rhetoric against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security resurfaced Wednesday after the fatal sniper attack on a Dallas federal immigration facility.A suspect fired several shots, reportedly "indiscriminately," at the Sally Port of an ICE facility just off Interstate 35E near Dallas-Love Field that killed at least one detainee and injured others.DHS BLAMES POLITICAL RHETORIC FOR SURGE IN ASSAULTS ON ICE AGENTS AFTER CHARLIE KIRK MURDERHours prior, Newsom appeared on CBS "Late Show" where he raged against federal agents who have masked-up to avoid being doxxed by activists in the Golden State.ANTI-ICE RIOTS REVEAL THE LEFT HAS LEARNED NOTHING. IT'S JUST HANDED TRUMP A GIFTNewsom recounted the detention of a teenager outside a school, describing it as "men jumping out of unmarked cars. People disappearing. No due process. No oversight. Zero accountability: Happening in the United States of America today.""People ask: Well, is authoritarianism you being hyperbolic? Bulls--- were being hyperbolic These are not just authoritarian tendencies, these are authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government," Newsom told host Stephen Colbert. He went on to call President Donald Trump a "son of a b----" and added that people have voiced appreciation for his states 41 lawsuits against the administration while also warning that the 2028 election may not come to pass."ICE: unmask what are you afraid of?" Newsom asked rhetorically at a press conference earlier this week announcing the first-in-the-nation law banning law enforcement from obscuring their identities. At his commencement speech for the University of Minnesota Law School, Walz declared ICE "Donald Trumps modern-day Gestapo.""Theyre in unmarked vans wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons [with] no chance to mount a defense," Walz said."To be clear: theres no way for us to know whether they were actually criminals or not, because they refused to give them a trial."DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin directly blamed Walz specific rhetoric as helping lead to a 413% increase in assaults on federal immigration officers as of May.GOV GAVIN NEWSOM: TRUMP IS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR DEMOCRACY. DO NOT LET HIMBass accused ICE and the Trump homeland security apparatus of conducting a "reign of terror" in Americas second-largest city. She told ABC News at the time of the ICE riots in her city that they "did not warrant the Marines coming into our city with basically no real mission but just a show of force.""Im hoping the military leaves because they were never needed here to begin with."Johnson said in June that America under Trump looks more like the C.S.A. than the U.S.A., comparing federal immigration enforcement to "terrorism."He said at his weekly presser that when he refers to "what terrorism looks like, this is it," and that there is a "tyrant in the White House."Johnson said the federal government is operating as a "one-branch" authority, and that checks and balances have been mooted by Trump whom he accused of taking over the judiciary and wielding executive power as a cudgel against critics."They are hypocrites. They're dangerous. There's one branch of government right now in this country the Congress says nothing. And so people are terrified. But in the city of Chicago, we are going to remain vigilant and firm in protecting what is sensible about our existence," Brandon Johnson went on.After ICE operations in his district in late August, Larson called federal immigration forces "Trumps personal secret police.""This is not Germany. That is the SS and the Gestapo. This is the United States of America. Unmask yourselves."In a statement after the situation drew national attention, Larson said ICE wrongly "took workers from Newington and Southington without notifying local officials, even tearing two mothers from their children.""Now, [Trump] is attacking me for defending them. This comes from a president who freed violent insurrectionists that assaulted and killed police, while he weaponizes the government against immigrant families and his political enemies," he said.Larson appeared to get backup from Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, who said in a statement at the time that, "if I know one thing about John Larson, he will not be silenced."Dozens of Democratic officials have been arrested while protesting ICE, especially in New York.New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams were detained in Manhattan last week, along with several state lawmakers.TRUMP OFFICIALS SLAM BLUE STATE GOVERNOR FOR IGNORING CHAOTIC ANTI-ICE RIOTERS DISRUPTING OPERATIONLocal media listed several Democratic state lawmakers, including Jabari Brisport, Julia Salazar, Phara Forrest, Emily Gallagher, Tiffany Caban, Tony Simone and Marcela Mitaynes as others detained or confronted by police at the same demonstration.Earlier this year, Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., was arrested along with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka after several lawmakers attempted to gain access to the ICE facility in the Brick City. After the Manhattan incident, McLaughlin called out Lander as being "obsess[ed]" with "attacking the brave men and women of law enforcement, physically and rhetorically.""[He] must stop now."

Democratic California Gov. After Dallas ICE shooting, Vance says those who denigrate law enforcement can go straight to hell
Vice President JD Vance said that those who denigrate law enforcement are encouraging "crazy people to go and commit violence," after a shooter opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility Wednesday in Dallas."You don't have to agree with my immigration policies. You don't have to agree with Donald Trump's immigration policies. But if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell," Vance said Wednesday during a trip to North Carolina. "And you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America."3 PEOPLE SHOT AT DALLAS ICE FACILITY, SHOOTER DEAD, AGENCY CONFIRMS"If you want to stop political violence, stop attacking our law enforcement as the Gestapo," Vance said. "If you want to stop political violence, stop telling your supporters that everybody who disagrees with you is a Nazi. If you want to stop political violence, look in the mirror. That's the way that we stop political violence in this country."The FBI claimed it is investigating the matter as a "targeted attack" against ICE, and the Department of Homeland Security said that it had identified shell casings with "anti-ICE" messages.HOUSE REPUBLICANS WARN ANTI-ICE RHETORIC FROM DEMOCRATS IS DRIVING VIOLENT ATTACKS ON AGENTSThree detainees were shot. Two have subsequently died while one is in critical condition, according to a statement from DHS.No ICE officers were harmed in the shooting and authorities said that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound."Look, just because we don't support illegal aliens, we don't want them to be executed by violent assassins engaged in political violence or either," Vance said. "So we're praying both for our ICE agents, but also for everybody who's affected by this terrible attack."TEXAS POLICE OFFICER SHOT NEAR ICE DETENTION CENTER AS TRUMP OFFICIALS PROMISE ZERO TOLERANCEThere have been multiple shootings at ICE facilities earlier in 2025, and DHS reported in July that assaults against ICE officers and other federal immigration agents have risen nearly 700% compared to 2024. While the agency reported 10 assault incidents between Jan. 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024, that number rose to 79 reported assaults in the same time frame in 2025.Other recent episodes of violence against law enforcement include another shooting near ICE's Prairieland, Texas, Detention Facility in July, where a police officer was shot in the neck. The White House previously has called on Democrats to de-escalate language toward ICE amid opposition to the Trump administration's mass deportation agenda. For example, Rep.Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., accused ICE of acting "like a terrorist force" in June, and later defended her comments in a CNN interview after the White House demanded an apology from the lawmaker.

Democratic senators probe Nexstar, Sinclair over Jimmy Kimmel, warn benching could run afoul of federal law
Democratic senators are demanding answers from Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcasting Group after both broadcast giants declined to air ABCs "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" raising concerns about potential backroom dealings with the Trump administration to curry favor with federal regulators.Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Ron Wyden, D-Ore.,Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.,on Tuesday sent a letter to Nexstar Chairman Perry Sook and Sinclair CEO Christopher Ripley regarding decisions not to air "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "how those decisions may relate to regulatory issues pending with the Trump administration.""If Nexstar or Sinclair traded the censorship of a critic of the administration for official acts by the Trump administration, your companies are not only complicit in an alarming trampling of free speech rights but also risk running afoul of federal law," the senators wrote.FCC CHAIR LEVELS THREAT AGAINST ABC, DISNEY AFTER KIMMEL SUGGESTED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN WAS MAGAThe letter detailed that Kimmel "made a series of comments about the reaction to the assassination of Charlie Kirk" that outraged conservatives and prompted a veiled threat from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr."Hours after Chairman Carrs remarks, ABC which broadcasts Mr. Kimmels show and is owned by Disney along with Nexstar and Sinclair two major owners of ABC local stations fell in line," the letter stated. It also noted that President Donald Trump "praised the decision."Disney did an about-face on Monday after widespread backlash from the left and announced the show would return."Nevertheless, Nexstar and Sinclair said they would not resume airing the show on the more than 60 local ABC affiliates they own meaning roughly 1 in 4 local ABC stations serving U.S. households will not air Kimmels show," the Democrats said."Your announcements that you will prevent Mr. Kimmels show from airing on your stations come as your companies have business pending before the Trump administration: Nexstar the nations largest owner of local television stations and owner of dozens of ABC affiliates needs the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) approval of its attempted mega-merger with competitor Tegna, Inc.," they continued. "Sinclair the nations second-largest broadcaster is also waiting on FCC authorization for a broadcast deal, and is expected to engage in further TV station acquisitions, for which it would require FCC approval, if the FCC weakens media ownership regulations."NEXSTAR TO CONTINUE NOT AIRING KIMMEL'S ABC SHOW, IN TALKS WITH DISNEY TO ENSURE IT 'RESPECTS' ALL AUDIENCESKimmel returned to air on Tuesday, but his program was still preempted by Nexstar and Sinclair affiliates. A source close to negotiations told Fox News Digital ahead of Kimmels comeback that Nexstar and Sinclair expected a sincere apology after infuriating conservatives with remarks about Kirks alleged assassin. Kimmel failed to apologize but choked up as he insisted that he never intended to make light of Kirk's death. Kimmel also spent much of the show mocking Carr and Trump.Nexstar announced on Wednesday it would continue to preempt the program, while Sinclair has not commented. Warren, Wyden, Markey and Van Hollen suggested the ordeal could implicate federal anti-corruption laws."This series of events raises serious questions about whether Nexstar and Sinclair responded to Trump officials warnings by removing Mr. Kimmels show, not only to avoid regulatory backlash from the FCC, but also to influence the Trump administrations review of your pending deals," they wrote."If you suspended a late-night comedians show in part to seek regulatory favors from the administration, you have not only assisted the administration in eroding First Amendment freedoms but also create the appearance of a possible quid-pro-quo arrangement that could implicate federal anti-corruption laws," Warren, Wyden, Markey and Van Hollen added. The Democrats noted that "Nexstar has announced its plan to acquire rival broadcast owner Tegna for $6.2 billion," but need the FCC approval and Sinclair "has pushed for the FCC to revise the television ownership cap, as part of its larger plans for potential acquisitions announced this August."NEXSTAR, SINCLAIR EXPECT APOLOGY FROM KIMMEL BEFORE AGREEING TO REINSTATE SHOW: SOURCE"Make no mistake: the statements from FCC Chairman Carr and President Trump represent an extraordinary abuse of power that jeopardizes all Americans First Amendment rights. These moves should be investigated to determine if they violate federal law," Warren, Wyden, Markey and Van Hollen wrote."But Nexstar and Sinclair, which chose to immediately buckle under Trump administration pressure, also have questions to answer. If you used this incident as an opportunity to influence or appease President Trump or other administration officials as you seek federal approval of your mergers or other regulatory favors, that may raise questions about your compliance with federal anti-corruption law and the Communications Acts requirement to broadcast in the public convenience, interest, and necessity," they added. "Suspending the show of a comedian critical of the Trump administration clearly has value to President Trump, who has been critical of Mr. Kimmel for years."The Democrats urged Nexstar and Sinclair to answer a series of questions by Oct. 7, including ones about private discussions between them and Carr, and whether they were offered "regulatory favors." Others included:Nexstar and Sinclair did not immediately respond to a request for comment.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Americans are more confident about this political party fixing nation's problems: poll
More Americans say that Republicans, rather than Democrats, have better plans to deal with many of the top issues facing the country, according to a new national poll.Forty percent of adults nationwide questioned in a Reuters/Ipsos survey said Republicans have a better plan to deal with crime, compared to 20% who said the same thing about the Democrats' proposals. The GOP had an 18 percentage point edge over the Democratic Party when it comes to plans to deal with immigration, a 12-point edge over the Democrats on dealing with foreign conflicts, and a 10-point advantage on handling the economy, according to the new poll. The Republicans' advantage over the Democrats on the economy came despite the new survey indicating 54% felt the nation's economy is on the wrong track, with only 35% giving President Donald Trump a thumbs up for the job he's doing handling the economy.POLL POSITION: DEMOCRATIC PARTY BRAND HITS NEW LOWTrump's approval rating on dealing with the cost of living was even lower, at 28%, in the survey, which was conducted Sept. 19-21.The president's campaign trail promise last year to handle continued inflation amid affordability concerns helped propel him back into the White House, and aided Republicans as they won back the Senate majority and protected their fragile control of the House.HEAD HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS POLLING RESULTSThe Reuters/Ipsos poll also indicated Americans feel the GOP, by slight margins, has better plans than the Democrats to deal with gun control, political extremism, and corruption.According to the survey, Democrats top Republicans when it comes to plans to deal with the environment, healthcare, women's rights, and respect for democracy."Americans have lost faith in the Democratic Party even on Dems historically more advantageous issues like gun control. Thats the opposite of what usually happens to the opposition party during a Presidents first year in office," veteran Republican pollster Frank Luntz wrote in a social media post, as he pointed to the Reuters/Ipsos survey. The new survey follows a Fox News national poll conducted in July that found that while the Republican Party has lost some ground to the Democratic Party on handling key issues, voters are more likely to think the GOP has a clear plan for dealing with the countrys problems."The Fox News survey found, by a 10-point margin, more voters thought that the Republicans had a clear plan for the U.S. than the Democrats: 43% vs. 33%.But majorities felt that neither party had a clear plan.According to the Fox News poll, nearly eight in ten Republicans were confident their party had a clear plan, compared to just 51% of Democrats.

Trump unleashes US military power on cartels. Is a wider war looming?
President Donald Trump is spearheading a military buildup in the Caribbean already signing off on a series of U.S. military strikes against alleged drug vessels from Venezuela. So far, the Trump administration has conducted at least three deadly strikes against alleged drug smuggling boats, prompting some lawmakers in Congress to question the legality of these strikes and request additional oversight. The strikes are the latest escalation from the Trump administration as it moves to crack down on drug cartels and the influx of illicit drugs into the U.S., and comes after the administration designated drug cartel groups like Tren de Aragua, the Sinaloa Cartel and others as foreign terrorist organizations in February.Building up naval forces in the Caribbean gives the U.S. the capacity to not only conduct such strikes in international waters near Venezuela, but also within Venezuela itself, according to Geoff Ramsey, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council international affairs think tank.TRUMP SAYS 'WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS' WHEN ASKED ABOUT POSSIBILITY OF STRIKING VENEZUELA AMID RISING TENSIONSIn August, Trump approved sending several U.S. Navy guided missile destroyers to bolster the administrations counter-narcotics efforts in the region."Whether we see more consequential strikes will depend more on political calculations in Washington than on operational capability," Ramsey said in a Wednesday email to Fox News Digital. "The administration could use the strikes as occasional shows of force, or it could escalate into a more systematic campaign, but the risk of doing so would be that we could destabilize Venezuela and spark an internal armed conflict with no clear end game."Ramsey said that the strikes come with a "real risk of escalation," and said that Venezuela views them as violations of sovereignty. Additionally, attacks inside Venezuelan territory could ignite a "cycle of retaliation," he said."That would raise the prospect of a wider confrontation between the U.S. and Venezuelan forces, which could potentially end up sparking an internal armed conflict in the South American country, which could destabilize the region," Ramsey said. "So far President Trump seems aware of these risks, which is why the strikes so far have been carefully framed as counter-narcotics operations in international waters rather than an overt attack on the Venezuelan government."After Trump sent the destroyers to U.S. Southern Command, Venezuelan President Nicols Maduro said his country was prepared to respond to any attacks, adding that the move amounted to "an extravagant, unjustifiable, immoral and absolutely criminal and bloody threat."TRUMP TOUTS US STRIKE AS MADURO SLAMS MILITARY THREAT OFF VENEZUELAFollowing the second strike, Maduro said the incident is part of a larger effort "to intimidate and seek regime change" in Venezuela. The Trump administration has said it does not recognize Maduro as a legitimate head of state, and rather, views him as a leader of a drug cartel.Meanwhile, members of Congress have cast doubt on whether the strikes the Trump administration approved are even legal in the first place. For example, Sens. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Tim Kaine, D-Va., filed a War Powers resolution Friday that would block U.S. forces from engaging in "hostilities" against certain non-state organizations."President Trump has no legal authority to launch strikes or use military force in the Caribbean or elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere. The Administration has refused to provide Congress with basic information about the multiple strikes it has carried out, including who was killed, why it was necessary to put servicemembers lives at risk, and why a standard interdiction operation wasnt conducted," Kaine said in a Friday statement. "Congress simply cannot let itself be stiff-armed as this Administration continues to flout the law."The Senate will be required to consider and vote upon the resolution.Even so, the Trump administration has indicated from the beginning that its prepared for additional strikes."Obviously, they won't be doing it again," Trump told reporters in September after the first military strike. "And I think a lot of other people won't be doing it again. When they watch that tape, they're going to say, 'Let's not do this.' We have to protect our country, and we're going to. Venezuela has been a very bad actor."Likewise, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signaled the U.S. military would launch future strikes on other drug vessels attempting to smuggle narcotics into the U.S.TRUMP ANNOUNCES US MILITARY CONDUCTED 'LETHAL STRIKE' ON VENEZUELAN DRUG BOAT IN CARIBBEAN"We've got assets in the air, assets in the water, assets on ships because this is a deadly serious mission for us, and it won't, it won't stop with just this strike," Hegseth told Fox News in September after the first strike."Anyone else trafficking in those waters who we know is a designated narco-terrorist will face the same fate," Hegseth said. However, the strikes will likely not continue long-term as boat traffic in the region dies down in response to the strikes, according to Bryan Clark, director of the Hudson Institute think tanks Center for Defense Concepts and Technology."These strikes will probably intensify for a couple weeks and then abate as fewer boats attempt to make the crossing. That is likely the intent of the operation," Clark said in a Tuesday email to Fox News Digital. "I think it is very unlikely to result in a broader conflict because the Venezuelan government will not want one."
