WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMamdani slammed for using kids in campaign videos after gloating about social media-free childhoodZohran Mamdani is taking heat for using school kids in his online campaign ads even after noting how "fortunate" he was to enjoy a childhood free of social media. The 33-year-old New York City mayoral candidate, who has built his brand on viral content, was criticized by Instagram followers after he featured interviews with two kids promoting his bid for City Hall. The criticism also came as New York City launched a statewide classroom cellphone ban aimed at protecting student mental health, and ahead of the mayoral election. On Thursday, Mamdani appeared outside I.S. 5 in Queens, praising the new cellphone ban while welcoming families back for the first day of the school year.On Instagram, he also shared a post and contrasted his own childhood with todays digital reality, writing:EX-MAYOR DE BLASIO TOUTS SOCIALIST MAMDANI AS NEW YORK CITY'S ANSWER TO TRUMP POLICIES"I consider myself fortunatewhen I was a student, it was before social media had cannibalized the way that kids interact with one another," he wrote. The post was paired with a back-to-school message about "hope and new beginnings."But just days later, Mamdanis campaign accounts featured the two young kids speaking directly to Mamdani and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.MAMDANI APPEALS TO NON-DEMOCRATS WITH GENERAL ELECTION PUSH, VOWS GOVERNMENT CAN MEET VOTERS' 'MATERIAL NEEDS'In one clip, a girl confidently endorsed him; in another, a boy offered support while Warren sat nearby."How old is she? So articulate, but shes so tiny," one follower said about the little girl.Critics wondered why Mamdani was using children in his social media ads even as he decried the effects of cellphones and social media on children."Why are you using kids to promote your political agenda?" complained another follower commenting on the post featuring the boy's interview. One critic wrote: "He can express his personal opinion and promote whomever he wants, using the kids to do it is unacceptable."Mamdani's posts featuring the two children also came days before New York Governor Kathy Hochul defended the new cellphone restrictions, arguing they will reduce distractions, improve mental health and even protect children during emergencies by preventing location-sharing.Hochul discussed the states ban on cellphone use in public schools on "Fox News Sunday."The new law prohibits smartphones and smartwatches during school hours, except for medical or educational use.Mamdani, who unseated a longtime incumbent in the Democratic primary, is campaigning on sweeping progressive promises, from a $30 minimum wage to a rent freeze.Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani for comment.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 36 Views 0 önizleme

WWW.FOXNEWS.COM49ers backup tight end Jake Tonges makes miracle catch to stun Seahawks in fourth quarter season openerSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy needed a touchdown late in the game against the Seattle Seahawks, and he trusted his tight end to make a play in the end zone. No, it wasnt the usual suspect, George Kittle, but Jake Tonges, who made the game-winning touchdown grab in a 17-13 win over the NFC West rival Seahawks to open the 2025 NFL season.Kittle caught the 49ers first touchdown pass of the season from Purdy, but he left early with a hamstring injury. In turn, Tonges, who has played just 20 games since entering the league in 2022 with the Chicago Bears, had to step up for San Francisco.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThat moment came on third-and-3 from the Seahawks 4-yard line, as Purdy surveyed the end zone and couldnt find a teammate with his team down three. Flushed to his right, Purdy threw up a prayer to Tonges in the back corner of the end zone with Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen draped on him.Somehow, Tonges stepped in front of Woolen, leaped into the air and snagged the football for the game-winning score. It was Tonges third catch of the game, but the most important, as San Francisco came away with a key road victory.EAGLES PICK UP VICTORY OVER COWBOYS IN GAME OVERSHADOWED BY SPITTING INCIDENTKittle was seen throwing his hands in the air on the sideline to celebrate his fellow tight ends pivotal catch. The 49ers secured the victory thanks to a strip-sack by edge rusher Nick Bosa on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. Seattle was driving at the 49ers 9-yard line when the play happened with 42 seconds left.Purdy finished with 277 passing yards on 26 of 35 with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a roller-coaster opener. While it wasnt his best performance, having Christian McCaffrey healthy in the backfield certainly helped.McCaffreys availability was in question again to start the season, as it was in 2024 when he dealt with bilateral Achilles tendinitis. But this calf ailment wasnt serious enough to sideline him, and he ran for 69 yards on 22 carries while catching nine passes for 73 yards.Ricky Pearsall, expected to be a key weapon in San Franciscos passing game, led the way with 108 yards on four catches, including a 45-yard reception from Purdy. As for the Seahawks, Darnold went 16 of 23 for 150 yards and appears to have strong chemistry with Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who was targeted 13 times and caught nine passes for 124 yards. Zach Charbonnet, not Kenneth Walker III, scored Seattles only touchdown.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 41 Views 0 önizleme
