Idaho police chief reveals new details about Bryan Kohberger student murder investigation
The Idaho police chief whose department spearheaded the investigation that landed student murderer Bryan Kohberger behind bars for life is revealing new details about the case.Moscow Police Chief Anthony Dahlinger told Fox News' Paul Mauro that two traffic stops on Kohberger in Indiana during a cross-country trip with his dad came before his name had been discovered by investigators calling earlier reports that the stops had been requested to gather information on the suspect "completely wrong."Kohberger left a Ka-Bar knife sheath at the crime scene on Nov. 13, 2022, which led the task force investigating the case to his identity on Dec. 19. He drove home with his dad days earlier, at risk of flunking out of his Ph.D. program at Washington State University, about 10 miles from the crime scene.MOSCOW POLICE CHIEF CHALLENGES CLAIMS BRYAN KOHBERGER MENTIONED KAYLEE GONCALVES BY NAME DURING ATTACK"If we had had that information, he would not have been able to leave the area," Dahlinger said.Kohberger was living in a student apartment in Pullman, Washington. The victims were living across the state line at an off-campus rental next to the University of Idaho. Police arrested the killer at his parents' house in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains on Dec. 30.WATCH: Connection between Kohberger, murder victims remains unknown"We had lots of different leads, and we tracked down each and every one of them," Dahlinger said. "It was painstaking, and you know until we got to the end of this, I can't remember exactly how many people that we looked at but we did hundreds of interviews with so many different people."The sheath proved crucial in the case. None of the victims had Kohberger's DNA under their fingernails, likely because the criminology and criminal justice Ph.D. student wore protective gear.IDAHO MURDER DOCUMENTS REVEAL VICTIM'S STALKING FEARS AND KOHBERGER'S 'INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR' AT SCHOOLStill, Dahlinger said detectives were confident they could have found him without the sheath because they had identified a suspect vehicle, although it would have taken longer. There were no signs Kohberger worked with an accomplice, Dahlinger said. Police have had no luck searching for the murder weapon. Police believe he used only one knife to kill all four victims."We looked at every angle, but we live in North Idaho," he said. "It's a rural area, and a Ka-Bar knife is a relatively small item, so it's endless where that could be."BRYAN KOHBERGER MAY HAVE USED SECOND WEAPON AND LEFT SCARED WHILE SPARING SURVIVING ROOMMATE: REPORTPolice did find Kohberger with a gun when they arrested him at his parents' house, although he didn't use it in the student murders. He initially spoke with Pennsylvania police, but clammed up and demanded a lawyer when he realized there were Idaho detectives present, Dahlinger said.Dahlinger also revealed it was the defense that asked for the plea deal.WATCH: Idaho police chief details Kohberger's 'abnormal behavior' after college murders"I was in the room when Bill Thompson gave us that information that they had reached out, the defense had reached out asking if they would be willing to entertain that idea," he said, referring to the lead prosecutor on the case. "And it was very quick."He said it caught investigators by surprise, but they were all attuned to how the criminal justice system works.BRYAN KOHBERGER PLEADED GUILTY TO IDAHO STUDENT MURDERS, BUT THESE KEY QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED"Just to dispel the whole plea thing as well, because I know every time somebody hears 'plea deal,' right, the whole word 'deal' makes everybody feel like they're getting off. The suspect's getting off somehow. They're not getting their full extent," he said. "Now, the only thing that went off the table on this was the death penalty."The death penalty was never a lock. Jurors would have had to approve it unanimously after convicting him at trial.Under the deal, Kohberger will die in prison. And he waived his rights to appeal and to seek a sentence reduction.Idaho Judge Steven Hippler sentenced Kohberger to four consecutive terms of life in prison, plus another 10 years, for the four counts of first-degree murder and a single felony burglary charge he faced.

Meta AI docs exposed, allowing chatbots to flirt with kids
Tech bro Mark Zuckerberg's company has been caught in one of the most disturbing scandals yet. Reuters uncovered an internal Meta document that allowed its AI chatbots to flirt with children and engage in sensual conversations. The revelation sparked outrage, and Meta only reversed course after getting caught.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts, and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. Plus, youll get instant access to my Ultimate Scam Survival Guide - free when you join myCYBERGUY.COM/NEWSLETTERAccording to internal "GenAI: Content Risk Standards," Meta's legal, policy, and engineering teams signed off on chatbot rules that made it acceptable for bots to describe a child as "a youthful form of art" or engage in romantic roleplay with minors. Even worse, the guidelines gave room for chatbots to demean people by race and spread false medical claims. This was not a bug. These were approved rules until Meta faced questions. Once Reuters started asking, the company quickly scrubbed the offensive sections and claimed it had been a mistake.META ADDS TEEN SAFETY FEATURES TO INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOKWe reached out to Meta, and a spokesperson provided this statement to CyberGuy:"We have clear policies on what kind of responses AI characters can offer, and those policies prohibit content that sexualizes children and sexualized role play between adults and minors. Separate from the policies, there are hundreds of examples, notes, and annotations that reflect teams grappling with different hypothetical scenarios. The examples and notes in question were and are erroneous and inconsistent with our policies, and have been removed."Let's call this what it is. Meta didn't stop this on its own. It only acted when exposed. That shows Big Tech's priorities: money, engagement, and keeping kids glued to screens. Safety? Not even on the radar until someone blows the whistle. Meta has repeatedly shown it couldn't care less about your children's well-being. It's about maximizing time online, pulling in younger users, and monetizing every click. This latest scandal proves once again that parents cannot rely on tech companies to protect kids.Senator Josh Hawley and a bipartisan group in Congress are demanding that Meta come clean. Lawmakers want to know how and why these policies ever got approval. Hawley called on Meta to release all internal documents and explain why chatbots were allowed to simulate flirting with children. Meta insists it has"fixed" the problem, but critics argue these corrections only came after they were exposed. Until real regulations arrive, parents are on their own.META FACES BACKLASH OVER AI POLICY THAT LETS BOTS HAVE 'SENSUAL' CONVERSATIONS WITH KIDSWhile Congress investigates, families need to take immediate steps to protect their children from the dangers exposed in Meta's AI scandal.Children should never have free access to AI chatbots, including Meta AI. Hackers and bad actors often target kids through the same devices where chatbots live, so whole-family protection matters. Russia's Lavrov looks to draw China in on Ukraine's security guarantees
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov may be looking to bring China into the ongoing negotiations as NATO leaders and Ukrainian officials convene this week to discuss security guarantees for Kyiv.Lavrov suggested that Moscow was only interested in "truly reliable" guarantees for Ukraine, which he argued should be based on a 2022 draft accord that was discussed by Ukrainian and Russian negotiators during the early days of the war.But the proposal never came to fruition due to a major sticking point for Kyiv, which argued that the plan gave Moscow too much power over its security.UKRAINES STOLEN CHILDREN CRISIS LOOMS LARGE AS NATO MEETS ON RUSSIAS WARThe proposal would have provided Ukraine with security guarantees provided by a group of nations, including the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council of which Russia is a part of which Kyiv said effectively gave Moscow veto powers over any future attempts to provide it with military aid. China is also a member of the U.N. Security Council and has not only drawn international scrutiny for its refusal to condemn Russias illegal invasion, but has faced international rebuke over its support of Moscow during the war."Russia agrees that security guarantees for Ukraine be provided on an equal basis with the participation of countries such as China, the USA, Britain, and France," Lavrov said Wednesday, according to a translation by Russian state media RIA in a post on Telegram.Though it is unlikely that Ukraine would agree to a plan that would grant Russia, and possibly China, any authority over its future security, Beijing said it supports "fair and objective" peace talks."China did not create the Ukraine crisis, nor is China a party to it. Even so, China has since day one held an objective and fair position and promoted talks for peace," Chinese embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu told Fox News Digital, pointing to the "four principles" peace plan that Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced in 2024.NATO SCRAMBLES WARPLANES AS RUSSIA HITS NEAR ROMANIAN BORDER IN UKRAINE"China stands ready to, in light of the will of the parties concerned and together with the rest of the international community, continue playing a constructive role for the political settlement of the crisis," Liu added.Lavrov further accused NATO leaders of "unethical attempts to change the position of the Trump administration and the President of the United States personally" after they met with President Donald Trump on Monday in Washington, D.C.Few details of the meetings have emerged as leaders from Europe, Ukraine and top Trump administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff, look to establish security terms for Ukraine in an attempt to end the war.Though Lavrov, who has long made controversial comments, described the Monday meetings as "a fairly aggressive escalation of the situation" and "rather clumsy."A European diplomat involved in coordinating security guarantees with the U.S. told Fox News that Lavrovs comments have largely been dismissed by Washington and NATO allies, and have done nothing to derail progress."Its noise," the diplomat said. "Mondays display of unity behind Ukraine has put [Russian President Vladimir] Putin on the back foot. These comments point to typical Russian game playing and untrustworthiness at a time they would do well to engage seriously with President Trumps push for peace."CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Lavrov has long done this," the official added. The White House also told Fox News that comments coming from Russian officials are largely being ignored unless they come straight from Putin.

Meet Mamdani's radical advisory circle that includes communist activist, anti-Israel advocates
FOX DIGITAL REVIEW:New York City socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdanis growing circle of influence is littered with activists who have espoused anti-Israel views and socialist principles as he attempts to dispel the narrative that he is too "radical" to run the nation's largest city.Mamdani, who has been a fierce critic of President Donald Trumps immigration policies, employs the help of several advisors as part of his "brain trust",New York Times reported, which includesNew York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) presidentMurad Awawdeh, an activist for a group with a long history of seeking to end "state support for detention, deportation, and mass incarceration."According to Awadeh, illegal immigrants having access to taxpayer-funded healthcare is aright they "deserve.""SEEKING ASYLUM AT THE BORDER IS A LEGAL RIGHT," Awawdehposted on X in 2022. "ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE FLEEING FOR THEIR LIVES FROM VIOLENCE, PERSECUTION, & IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. THE U.S. HAS A LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE REFUGE."VULNERABLE DEMOCRATS HAMMERED WITH SCATHING AD HANDCUFFING THEM TO MAMDANI, JEFFRIESNYIC has close ties to and has taken money from the Vera Institute for Justice, a group that received a significant amount of support in the form of contracts from the Biden administration to assist illegal immigrants in avoiding deportations. Additionally, NYIC has taken in $175,000 from the sprawling George Soros nonprofit network.Soros is also tied to another key Mamdani advisor, Patrick Gaspard, who has served in several high-profile political positions, including advising former President Barack Obama's historic 2008 campaign, serving as the Democratic National Committee's executive director, and was tapped as the Center for American Progress (CAP) president in 2021.Gaspard, who Fox News Digital previously reported made millions of dollars serving as president of Soros's Open Society Foundations between 2017 and 2020, has been a staunch defender of Soros, saying earlier this year that he was "inspired by the selection of my friend George Soros, who is one of our leading defenders of inclusive and accountable democracy and vibrant civil society," after then-President Joe Biden announced he would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom."His accomplishments, in the face of distortions and threats from extremists, will be lauded well into the future," he continued. In a long 2023 X thread, Gaspard also attempted to deflect blame away from Soros amid reports that Soros and his network were pouring millions of dollars into the campaign coffers of radical DAs and far-left groups that emphasized social justice programs and gave lenient sentences to violent criminals.Mamdani has rejected the "communist" label bestowed on him by critics, including laughing off the accusation whenconfronted by Fox News Digital earlier this year, while at the same time being advised by an activist who doesnt appear to shy away from communists.Housing advocate Cea Weaver, part of Mamdanis reported "brain trust," is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and advises the mayoral hopeful on housing issues, including Mamdanis plan to "freeze" the rent, which has gottenstrong pushback from many New Yorkers in the industry.MAMDANI PREACHES FROM PULPIT OF RADICAL PASTOR PUSHING REPARATIONS, ABOLISHING POLICE: 'BROTHER AND FRIEND'Weaver is also the former coalitions director of Housing Justice for All, a group that counts dozens of radical far-left groups as coalition members, including the Communist Party of the United States of America and the New York Young Communist League."Elect more Communists," Weaver posted on social media in 2017,New York Post reported. "Seize private property," Weaver posted in 2018.Mamdani has faced heated criticism for his long history of anti-Israel statements and positions dating back to his dayswriting for his college newspaper and his circle of advisors includes several people who have exhibited the same criticisms.ActivistFaiza Ali, another member of Mamdanis reported inner circle, formerly worked for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group whose executive director, Nihad Awad, stated after Hamas Oct. 7 attacks that he was happy to see Gazans "breaking the siege" against the "occupying power" of Israel.Awadlater said those comments were taken out of context. In addition to her ties to CAIR, a group that GOP Sen. Tom Cottonrecently said should lose its nonprofit status due to alleged terror ties, Ali is an acquaintance of and has been photographed with Linda Sarsour, who the two are associated with through the Muslim Democratic Club of New York.Sarsour, a prominent anti-Israel activist who has long been labeled antisemitic, has faced criticism for lauding Farrakhan, objecting to the Jewish right to return to Israel, and evencalling for "jihad" against President Trump in 2017. She later claimed she was calling only for nonviolent dissent.Maya Handa, a campaign manager reportedly part of the "growing circle" around Mamdani, was formerly a top advisor to former Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman who has a long history of anti-Israel controversy includinglast year when he defended the phrase "from the river to to the sea," which is widely interpreted as a call for the elimination of Israel.Mamdani senior advisor Morris Katz, described by the New York Times as being one of two people in Mamdanis "inner circle" and an "emissary" to the Jewish community to counteract skeptical pro-Israel voters, has been critical of Israel on social media.Katz haspreviously said the existential threat to Israels existence is "not the Palestinians whore being oppressed and denied basic human rights" but rather Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Katz alsoamplified a quote from Mamdani saying that Democrats supporting a ceasefire and an arms embargo are "rightfully outraged over Israels killing of over 40,000 Palestinians."Fox News Digital reached out to the Mamdani campaign for comment.

OpenAI limits ChatGPTs role in mental health help
More people are turning to artificial intelligence for support, even for mental health advice. It's easy to see why: tools like ChatGPT are free, fast, and always available. But mental health is a delicate issue, and AI isn't equipped to handle the complexities of real emotional distress. To address growing concerns, OpenAI has introduced new safety measures for ChatGPT. These updates will limit how the chatbot responds to mental health-related queries. The goal is to prevent users from becoming overly dependent and to encourage them to seek proper care. OpenAI also hopes to reduce the risk of harmful or misleading responses through these changes.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts, and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. One example, ChatGPT validated a user's belief that radio signals were coming through the walls because of their family. In another, it allegedly encouraged terrorism.CHATGPT COULD BE SILENTLY REWIRING YOUR BRAIN AS EXPERTS URGE CAUTION FOR LONG-TERM USEThese rare but serious incidents sparked concern. OpenAI is now revising how it trains its models to reduce"sycophancy," or excessive agreement and flattery that could reinforce harmful beliefs. From now on, ChatGPT will prompt users to take breaks during long conversations. It will also avoid offering specific advice on deeply personal issues. Instead, the chatbot will help users reflect by asking questions and offering pros and cons, without pretending to be a therapist.OpenAI stated,"While rare, we're continuing to improve our models and are developing tools to better detect signs of mental or emotional distress so ChatGPT can respond appropriately and point people to evidence-based resources when needed."IS YOUR THERAPIST AI? CHATGPT GOES VIRAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ITS ROLE AS GEN Z'S NEW THERAPISTThe company also partnered with more than 90 physicians worldwide to create updated guidance for evaluating complex interactions. An advisory group, made up of mental health experts, youth advocates, and human-computer interaction researchers, is helping shape these changes. OpenAI says it wants input from clinicians and researchers to refine its safeguards further.OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently raised red flags about AI privacy. "If you go talk to ChatGPT about your most sensitive stuff and then there's a lawsuit or whatever, we could be required to produce that. And I think that's very screwed up," he said.He added,"I think we should have the same concept of privacy for your conversations with AI that we do with a therapist or whatever."So, unlike talking to a licensed counselor, your chats with ChatGPT don't enjoy legal privilege or confidentiality. Ex-Adams aide allegedly tried to give reporter a wad of cash hidden in a potato chip bag
A New York City reporter was allegedly the target of an apparent bribery attempt by a former aide to Mayor Eric Adams, who is currently seeking reelection.Winnie Greco, a longtime Adams ally, is accused of trying to give a reporter from THE CITY, a New York City-based publication, a wad of cash hidden in a bag of Herrs Sour Cream & Onion ripple potato chips. The publication said the incident occurred after a campaign event in Harlem on Wednesday.According to THE CITYs account of the events, City Hall reporter Katie Honan spotted Greco near the opening of Adams new Harlem campaign office. The former Adams aide later texted the reporter and asked to meet across the street from the campaign office. The two then walked to a Whole Foods next door, where Greco handed Honan the bag. Honan, according to THE CITY, believed Greco was offering a snack and initially refused, but the former aide insisted she keep it.ADAMS, CUOMO TRADE JABS IN INTERVIEWS AS DEMS-TURNED-INDEPENDENTS COURT ANTI-MAMDANI VOTEHonan reportedly opened the bag while on her way to the subway and saw a red envelope containing at least one $100 bill and several $20 bills. According to THE CITY, Honan texted Greco asking when she could return the cash but did not receive a response.THE CITY interviewed Greco later that same day, and she reportedly tried to apologize multiple times, saying she had made "a mistake." This was no handing over a bag of cash. This is nothing more than a gesture of kindness blown out of a Chinese tradition of handing money to others as a form of gratitude and friendship. She knows this reporter and was fond of her. It may appear strange, but there was nothing nefarious about it," Brill told Fox News Digital. When Honan returned to her office, she gave the bag to her editors, at which point the publication contacted New York City's Department of Investigation. Trump's tariff revenue has skyrocketed in just a few months, soaring past 2024 levels
President Donald Trump has long touted tariffs as a key source of government revenue, and within just a few months of their implementation, billions of dollars have already flowed into federal coffers. The U.S. collected more than $29 billion in tariff revenues in July, the highest monthly total this year. According to the Treasury Departments latest "Customs and Certain Excise Taxes" data, released on Aug. 19, total tariff revenues have reached $158.3 billion for the fiscal year.BESSENT SAYS TARIFF REVENUE COULD HELP PAY DOWN THE NATION'S $37.2T DEBTThe revelation comes on the heels of Trumps sweeping tariffs on imported goods duties paid by U.S. businesses to the federal government but often passed on to consumers through higher prices.Tariff revenues rose steadily from approximately $17.4 billion in April to $23.9 billion in May, before climbing to $28 billion in June and peaking to a cool $29.6 billion in July. At the current pace, the U.S. could collect as much tariff revenue in just four to five months as it did over the entire previous year.TRUMP CALLS TARIFF WINDFALL 'SO BEAUTIFUL TO SEE' AS CASH SAILS INOn Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he anticipates revising this years tariff revenue estimate above the previous $300 billion projection. While he did not offer a new forecast, he emphasized the total would be "substantially" higher.Bessent also said that the White House is considering the possibility of using some of the tariff revenue to address the nation's surging debt, adding in a CNBC interview that he and Trump are "laser-focused on paying down the debt."The nation's debt, which is the amount of money the U.S. owes its creditors, is nearing $37.2 trillion as of Aug. 20, according to the Treasury Department. The staggering figure has intensified the long-standing debate in Washington over government spending, taxation and efforts to rein in the ballooning deficit."I think that we're going to bring down the deficit-to-GDP, we will start paying down debt, and then at a point that can be used as an offset for the American people," he said of the tariff revenues.
