WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMichelle Obama speaks out on Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese 'hate'Former first lady Michelle Obama weighed in on the WNBA rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese for the first time.During an appearance on the podcast "All the Smoke with Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson," Obama spoke during a group discussion about the impact of the Clark-Reese drama on the WNBA's popularity, the impact on the players' well-beings and "hate" involved.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"I think the tough thing is the social media element to it. But that's true across the board. I mean, we've talked about this on our show; it just takes a normal occurrence. These young kids today, what they have to go through, what they have to be able to withstand, because social media is such a huge part of the world," Obama said."There's the hate. But now the hate is in your room, on your phone, with you all the time. And you can't, for whatever reason, tell these kids to turn it off, because they're making their living that way. I mean, now they are expected to stay engaged. So, I think that makes it feel even worse. But I think, as you point out, that's happening in sports across gender. It's just harder not to withstand other people's horrible, horrible opinions."ANGEL REESE JOKINGLY BLAMES TEAMMATE OF CAITLIN CLARK, SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM FOR SEX TOY FIASCO: 'GETTING WEIRD'The rivalry between Clark and Reese was renewed in their first game of the 2025 season on May 17. Clark's Indiana Fever defeated Reese's Chicago Sky 93-58, and Clark was called for a flagrant foul after a defensive play against Reese. The WNBA announced after the game that it would be launching an investigation into alleged "racist" comments directed at Reese, but could not substantiate the allegations. The two have not played each other since that May 17 game, as both have dealt with injuries throughout the season.Meanwhile, Obama recently made headlines with another sports-related opinion, when she compared ESPN to reality TV during an episode of her brother's podcast "IMO" in July."Its all a sociological study. They think that sports is better reality TV, Im like, Its the same thing.' If I listen to ESPN for an hour, its like watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you know?" Obama said. "Its the same drama, and theyre yelling at each other, and they dont get along, you know? I mean, Stephen A. Smith, hes just like every other. . . ."Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 28 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMGerman researchers discover dozens of shipwrecks including possible WWII steamer lost in air raidGerman researchers recently announced the discovery of 31 shipwrecks, including a possible steamship that was destroyed in a World War II air raid. The shipwrecks were found in Germany's Lake Constance as part of the "Wrecks and Deep Sea" project. Since the project's launch in 2022, divers and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) have pinpointed more than 250 potential underwater anomalies, according to a Tuesday news release from the State Office for Monument Preservation.DIVERS REVEAL IMAGES OF 321-YEAR-OLD SHIPWRECK IN REMARKABLE CONDITION OFF COASTOut of the 186 anomalies investigated so far, 31 have been confirmed as shipwrecks ranging from historic objects to modern sport boats. The other 155 anomalies wound up being natural formations like plant growth or artificial items like fishing gear, as noted in the release.Among the discoveries were two large metal ship hulls. Due to their location and size, researchers believe they could be the hulls of paddle steamers SD Friedrichshafen II and SD Baden, the news release noted.RESEARCHERS ACCIDENTALLY DISCOVER CIVIL WAR-ERA SHIPWRECK WHILE EXPLORING MURKY MIDWEST RIVERThe SD Friedrichshafen II was destroyed during an air raid in World War II, while the SD Baden was taken out of service in 1930 and ultimately sunk, according to news outlet Arkeonews."Wrecks are far more than just lost vehicles they are true time capsules that preserve stories and craftsmanship from long ago" Alexandra Ulisch, a project research associate, said in a statement.WORKERS DISCOVER 18TH-CENTURY VESSEL WHILE INSTALLING PIPELINE IN MEDIEVAL 'GAME OF THRONES' CITYResearchers also found a nearly completely preserved cargo sailing ship, which had its mast and yard still intact. The ships resting place deep underwater helped preserve key features, like bow clamps and belaying pins, by limiting the growth of invasive quagga mussels, as noted in the release. At another site with widely scattered debris, researchers found at least 17 wooden barrels, according to the release. The project will continue through summer 2027.Earlier this year, a vintage car was discovered during a similar underwater excavation of the USS Yorktown in the Pacific Ocean, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 5 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COM'Absolutely incredible': B-2 bomber, F-35 escort set stage for Trump-Putin talks in AlaskaAs President Donald Trump greeted Russian President Vladimir Putin on the tarmac at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, a B-2 stealth bomber soared overhead, flanked by four F-35 jets.Putin looked up at the sky as the planes buzzed overhead while he walked alongside Trump, and then made a comment to the U.S. president. The display was as much a symbol as it was a show of forcea pointed reminder of Americas military reach at the very moment the two leaders prepared to discuss the future of global security. The dramatic arrival underscored the high-stakes nature of the Alaska summit, the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Putin since Trumps return to the White House earlier this year. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, situated just outside Anchorage, was chosen for its robust security, strategic location, and symbolic positionphysically closer to Russia than Washington, D.C., yet firmly on American soil.FROM ADMIRATION TO ALASKA: A TIMELINE OF TRUMP AND PUTINS HIGH-STAKES ENCOUNTERSOnlookers in Anchorage and across social media quickly seized on the moment. Many called it an "insane flex," noting the B-2 bombers recent combat history.Only two months ago, the stealth aircraft played a central role in U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, dropping bunker-buster bombs in a move that drew both praise and condemnation on the world stage. The B-2 Spirit, built by Northrop Grumman, is one of the most advanced aircraft ever createdcapable of penetrating dense air defenses and striking targets anywhere in the world without refueling. Its distinctive flying-wing design and radar-absorbent coating make it nearly invisible to enemy radar.ALASKA GOVERNOR HOPES FOR END TO UKRAINE WAR AS STATE PREPARES FOR HISTORIC TRUMP-PUTIN SUMMITWith a range of over 6,000 nautical miles and the ability to carry both conventional and nuclear weapons, the B-2 serves as a critical component of Americas nuclear triad. Only 21 were ever built, and fewer than 20 remain in service, making any public appearance a rare and deliberate statement."Absolutely incredible," wrote one X user. Another added, "Putin now knows what will be greeting him if he were to ever cross that line that should never be crossed."After the brief tarmac ceremony, Putin entered "The Beast" alongside Trump. The heavily armored presidential limousine rolled past a row of American fighter jets lined up in silent formation, their presence another visual reminder of the stakes surrounding the talks. The two leaders traveled to a secure meeting hall on the base, beginning discussions at about 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Trump has said he plans to "set the table" during the meeting for a future summit that includes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. But still, he told Fox News Bret Baier he "wont be happy" if Putin does not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 6 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMNorthern Illinois coach Thomas Hammock rails against NIL era's shortcomings in impassioned speechThe NCAA transfer portal arguably grants student-athletes more flexibility than ever.In the past, college athletes who elected to transfer could not compete in the first year after switching schools. The portal gives them the opportunity to play right away. Sweeping policy changes almost always bring both intended and unintended consequences.Since the advent of the transfer portal and the rise of name, image and likeness (NIL), the gap between college programs with deep-pocketed boosters and alumni and smaller schools with fewer financial resources has seemingly grown.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMNorthern Illinois coach Thomas Hammock, who leads a program that does not compete in a Power Four conference, suggested the transfer portal contributes to an environment in which players and their parents' priorities are in the wrong place.TOM BRADY IMPLORES PARENTS TO 'TEACH YOUR KID THE RIGHT VALUES' AMID RISE OF NIL IN COLLEGE SPORTS"I enjoyed my college experience," Hammock said. "I didnt get one dime. But the lessons I learned were more valuable than any money you could ever pay me. I appreciate that because thats long term. People are losing the fact this is short term."Dont lose focus of the long term. Get your degree and learn valuable lessons that are going to help you in the long term of your life. Thats the whole purpose. This is a transition from being a kid to a grown-up. I hope people dont lose focus of that."Hammock pointed to more intangible opportunities at student-athletes' disposal."Everyones talking about everything else besides the most important thing of going to college," Hammock said. "Because if youre going to college to get a couple of dollars, you might as well go get a job."This is too hard to go get a couple of dollars. Learn the lessons that you need to learn to be successful in life for the next 40 or 50 years of your life. I would do it again for free because of the things I learned. Thats why Im standing here today, because of what I learned in college. Not because of how much someone gave me."Hammock earned academic All-American honors twice during his playing days at Northern Illinois. The NIU Huskies have qualified for a bowl game in three of the last four seasons. Hammock coached NIU to an 8-5 record last year. The Huskies' starting quarterback was among the litany of key players who left the program after entering the transfer portal.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 6 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMSchwarzenegger taunts Newsom with message targeting Dem redistricting pushFormer California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is pumping up for a new fight. The longtime Hollywood action star, the last Republican governor in Democrat-dominated California, says he's mobilizing to oppose the push by current Gov. Gavin Newsom to temporarily scrap the state's nonpartisan redistricting commission."Im getting ready for the gerrymandering battle," Schwarzenegger wrote in a social media post Friday, which included a photo of the former professional bodybuilding champion lifting weights.Schwarzenegger, who rose to worldwide fame as the star of the film "The Terminator" four decades ago, wore a T-shirt in the photo that said "terminate gerrymandering."ABBOTT, TEXAS REPUBLICANS MAKE NEW PUSH FOR TRUMP-BACKED REDISTRICTING AS FLEEING DEMOCRATS TO END WALKOUTThe social media post by Schwarzenegger comes as Democratic leaders in the Democrat-dominated California legislature are moving forward with new proposed congressional district maps that would create up to five more blue-leaning U.S. House seats in the nation's most populous state.Newsom on Thursday teamed up in Los Angeles with congressional Democrats and legislative leaders in the heavily blue state to unveil their redistricting playbook.REDISTRICTING BATTLE: NEWSOM VOWS TO FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRENewsom and the Democrats are aiming to counter the ongoing effort by President Donald Trump and Republicans to create up to five GOP-friendly congressional districts in red state Texas at the expense of Democrat-controlled seats."Today is liberation day in the state of California," Newsom said. "Donald Trump, you have poked the bear, and we will punch back."Newsom vowed to "meet fire with fire" with his push for a rare but not unheard of mid-decade redistricting. The Republican push in Texas, which comes at Trump's urging, is part of a broader effort by the GOP across the country to pad its razor-thin House majority to keep control of the chamber in the 2026 midterms, when the party in power traditionally faces political headwinds and loses seats.NEWSOM DEMANDS TRUMP GIVE UP TEXAS REDISTRICTING PUSHTrump and his political team are aiming to prevent what happened during his first term in the White House, when Democrats stormed back to grab the House majority in the 2018 midterms. While the Republican push in Texas to upend the current congressional maps doesn't face constitutional constraints, Newsom's path in California is much more complicated. The governor is pushing to hold a special election this year to get voter approval to undo the constitutional amendments that created the nonpartisan redistricting commission.A two-thirds majority vote in the Democrat-dominated California legislature as early as next week would be needed to hold the referendum. Democratic Party leaders are confident they'll have the votes to push the constitutional amendment and the new proposed congressional maps through the legislature."Here we are in open and plain sight before one vote is cast in the 2026 midterm election, and here [Trump] is once again trying to rig the system," Newsom charged.Newsom said his plan is "not complicated. Were doing this in reaction to a president of the United States that called a sitting governor in the state of Texas and said, Find me five seats. Were doing it in reaction to that act."The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) said "Newsoms made it clear: hell shred Californias Constitution and trample over democracy running a cynical, self-serving playbook where Californians are an afterthought, and power is the only priority."But Newsom defended his actions, saying "were working through a very transparent, temporary and public process. Were putting the maps on the ballot and putting the power to the people."Thursday's appearance by Newsom, considered a likely contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, also served as a fundraising kickoff to raise massive amounts of campaign cash needed to sell the redistricting push statewide in California.SCHWARZENEGGER'S NEW STARRING ROLE: PUSHING BACK AGAINST NEWSOM'S REDISTRICTING DRIVEThe nonpartisan redistricting commission, created over 15 years ago, remains popular among most Californians, according to public opinion polling. That's why Newsom and California Democratic lawmakers are promising not to scrap the commission entirely, but rather replace it temporarily by the legislature for the next three election cycles."We will affirm our commitment to the state independent redistricting after the 2030 census, but we are asking the voters for their consent to do midterm redistricting," Newsom said.Their efforts are opposed by a number of people supportive of the nonpartisan commission.Among the most visible members is likely to be Schwarzenegger."He calls gerrymandering evil, and he means that. He thinks its truly evil for politicians to take power from people," Schwarzenegger spokesperson Daniel Ketchell told Politico earlier this month."Hes opposed to what Texas is doing, and hes opposed to the idea that California would race to the bottom to do the same thing."Schwarzenegger, during his tenure as governor, had a starring role in the passage of constitutional amendments in California in 2008 and 2010 that took the power to draw state legislative and congressional districts away from politicians and placed it in the hands of an independent commission."Most people don't really think about an independent commission much, one way or another. And that's both an opportunity and a challenge for Newsom," Jack Pitney, an American politics professor at California's Claremont McKenna College, told Fox News."It's going to take a lot of effort and money to energize Democrats and motivate them to show up at the polls," Pitney said, adding Newsom's effort "is all about motivating people who don't like Trump."Fox News' Lee Ross contributed to this report0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 23 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWNBA star Kelsey Plum backtracks on Caitlin Clark jab after backlash: 'I made a bad joke'Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum addressed controversial comments she made about Caitlin Clark's All-Star team last month, insisting she had been making a "joke."After the WNBA All-Star game, where many players wore t-shirts that read, "Pay us what you owe us" in reference to the players' union's CBA negotiations with the league, Plum told reporters that players from Clark's All-Star team had not been at a meeting to discuss the shirts.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"But the T-shirt, just, united front, was determined this morning, that we had a meeting for. And, you know, not to tattletale, but zero members of Team Clark were very present for that," Plum said. The comments ignited harsh backlash against Plum, as many fans pointed out that Clark herself had been wearing the t-shirt during the game. Now, Plum is insisting that her comment was not serious, and referencing that many players were "hung over," the morning of the apparent meeting."I made a bad joke. I made a really bad joke, tough one," Plum said during an episode of WNBA legend Sue Bird's podcast "Bird's Eye View."WNBA STARS' ALL-STAR GAME MESSAGE ON PAY INCREASE DRAWS SOCIAL MEDIA REACTIONPlum also said that she "should have known it was a way-more-serious moment.""I should have like hindsight 2020 because of the shirts, because of the fans, like I should have known it was a way-more-serious moment than a typical All-Star game," Plum said."Because I went into that press conference very like, happy-go-lucky, we won. And then had a great weekend, like my family's here, it was just a great time. And so the questions came in, and it was like CBA this, this, this, this, and I honestly was like, Hey like team Clark, like they didn't make it to the meeting either Trying to make the room lighter."The protest was the talk of the weekend as players criticized WNBA officials amid the negotiations.WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert told reporters she believed a deal will get done before the current CBA expires after this season."I'm still really optimistic that well get something done that would be transformational," she said. "And that, next year at All-Star, well be talking about how great everything is. Obviously theres a lot of hard work to be done on both sides to get there."Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 7 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

First pitch, whack," Hamilton said during an appearance on Fox News "Will Cain Country."CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMHamiltons home run gave the Rangers a 9-7 lead in the 10th inning of Game 6. They were up 3-2 in the series at the time. However, the Rangers could not close the game out, and they lost the World Series in seven games.Hamilton was not always with the Lord. The 2010 AL MVP recalled being high on drugs when his grandmother delivered him a message that the Lord allowed him to hear."I love my grandma more than anything. And for the first time, all the things that my parents had told me, that she had told me, 'Hey we love you. You're better than this. You can do great things. We believe in you.' all these things that I've been told, and I was actually high when she was talking to me, I feel like the Lord just cleared my head and allowed me to actually hear it. And see your tears," Hamilton said."And that's when, hey, I went into the back bedroom, shut the door, dug the Bible out from the closet, threw it on the bed. James 4:7's first verse I read: Humble yourself before God, resist the devil and he'll flee from you. And that is when I gave my life to the Lord. But I started doing the things I was supposed to do. Started praying, started reading the word, started getting involved with people who were more experienced in their relationship with the Lord. And that's when things started turning around."DIAMONDBACKS RELIEVER SEALS VICTORY OVER ROCKIES AFTER SWALLOWING FLY MID PITCH: 'I GAGGED A LITTLE'Hamilton, a top prospect with the Tampa Bay Rays, dealt with substance abuse issues. Hamilton pleaded guilty to unlawful restraint, a misdemeanor. However, he said he had proof of being innocent but didnt want to make his kids testify and make his family sit in front of a jury."Just imagine being accused of something you didn't do and then having to, let's see, you have proof that you didn't so you can clear it up. You're innocent. But then having decided because you got a DA that's in the election year, you can't look like she's going light on you," Hamilton said."Am I going to drag my other two younger daughters in (a courtroom) and they'll have to testify and everything. I'm not gonna be a good dad. I'm gonna fall on the proverbial sword here for my family and shut this thing down when it comes to them and keep them out of the media and keep out of a back and forth with my ex in the media and let them live their life and move on and take the hit for it. Well, that's what I chose to do."Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 4 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMBodycam footage shows Dem South Carolina gubernatorial hopefuls rant, calling himself Superman and GodBizarre bodycam footage has been released showing a Democratic candidate in the South Carolina gubernatorial race going on a profanity-filled rant from the back of a patrol car, calling himself "Superman" and "God," while making threats toward public officials during an arrest in May.The footage shows William "Mullins" McLeod, an injury attorney, semi-naked with beads of sweat running down his face, going on an unhinged rant for around 35 minutes after he was charged with disorderly conduct by the Charleston Police Department after a May 14 incident.McLeod was wearing only underwear and shoes at the time, according to a report by the Charleston Police Department obtained by Fox News Digital.NANCY MACE ACCUSES GOP RIVAL OF CHILD SEX CRIME LENIENCY AS BLISTERING SC GUBERNATORIAL RACE HEATS UPThe footage came to light soon after he announced his candidacy, although the incident was reported locally at the time. The South Carolina Democratic Party has called on him to drop out. The video starts with McLeod rambling about class-action lawsuits and little money going to victims before an officer asks him for his name, but he refuses to comply."I tell you what, Superman sounds good. I'm Superman," McLeod says. The officer offers up the name John Doe, to which McLeod agrees."You know what? John Does fine. John Does fine. I don't give a f---," McLeod says. "Just get these shackles off of me, you call me whatever you want to. I dont care. Just get this s--- off, get me out of this car, my name doesn't matter."Later on in his rant, McLeod said, "I dont care what you call me, call me God. You think I give a f---?"During the profanity-laced tirade, McLeod threatened several current and former South Carolina politicians, including Republican Attorney General Alan Wilson, who launched his gubernatorial bid earlier this summer."Im gonna kick your f---ing teeth in," McLeod barked, apparently referring to Wilson while claiming the political system is corrupt. He also made bizarre references to Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who is also in the race and to President Donald Trump, saying the president "would not be able to take you out," which was also aimed at Wilson. He is also heard using racial slurs.JACKSONVILLE MAYOR SAYS VIRAL POLICE PUNCH VIDEO 'DISTURBING' AS PROBE MOVES FORWARDMcLeod also refused to get out of the patrol car when it arrived at a jail, instead telling an officer hell "sleep right here" in the back seat, video shows."No, Im not doing it, no. Im not getting out of this car. Its time to go to bed," he shouts at the officer.Police said McLeods eyes were "extremely bloodshot and highly dilated," and he was sweating profusely."It should be noted that R/O (responding officer) knows these symptoms to be typical of an individual under the influence of a stimulant narcotic due to his training and experience," the report says."Additionally, while in intake, the offender continued to ramble incoherently and at one point lashed out and kicked another prisoner."McLeod was taken into custody after officers saw him walking along a seawall and promenade yelling loudly and waving his arms, according to the police report. Officers said they could hear him from a block away and ordered him to place his hands behind his back, at which point he began yelling louder and locking out his arms."Due to the male offering fake names, as well as not having a physical ID, he was placed under arrest and booked into ACDC (Al Cannon Detention Center) as John Doe," the police report says.At a bond hearing after his arrest, McLeods lawyer told a judge the erratic behavior stemmed from a mental health episode and exhaustion, according to reports.Fox News Digital reached out to McLeod for comment but did not immediately receive a response.Christale Spain, chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said in a statement Wednesday McLeod should reconsider his candidacy."After reviewing the transcript of the dashcam footage from his recent arrest, it is clear that Mr. McLeod is navigating profound challenges and should focus on his mental and emotional well-being instead of a campaign for governor," the statement said. "We offer him compassion and pray he finds the support he needs."McLeod founded the McLeod Law Group in Charleston and has fought cases involving toxic torts, civil rights violations, wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, nursing home abuse and commercial negligence, according to his campaign website. He is scheduled to hold a press conference to address the incident and made it clear he is not backing out of the race, South Carolina Public Radio reported. McLeod says the arrest was unlawful and that portions of the dashcam video were released to damage his recently launched campaign, according to the outlet.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 4 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр
