Trump-Putin meeting starts, what we know so far
President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday landed in Anchorage, Alaska and have begun their highly anticipated talks in pursuit of ending the war in Ukraine. The meeting marks the first time leaders from the U.S. and Russia have met in-person since Putin launched his deadly invasion of Ukraine more than three-and-a-half-years ago.The meeting, which began at approximately 3:30 pm EST, is expected to last several hours, with initial estimates ranging roughly four hours, though the Kremlin on Friday signaled the talks could last up to seven hours.NATO DEFENSE MINISTER SIGNALS ABSOLUTE DISTRUST THAT PUTIN WANTS ANY PEACE DEAL AHEAD OF TRUMP SUMMITTrump said ahead of the meeting that he would not enter into a deal or grant territorial concessions regarding Ukraine, though questions mounted in the lead up to the high-level talks about whether Washington would forge a minerals deal with Moscow. The president told reporters on Thursday he would wait to see how the talks play out before he would say if he may pursue a mining agreement the optics of which remain unclear as they could potentially benefit Russias economy, and therefore Putins war chest.Though notably, both the U.S. and Russia saw their top business negotiators travel with their corresponding delegations as U.S. Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Scott Lutnick both of whom have engaged in top-level trade talks as well asRussian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, were reported to have traveled for the trip.TRUMP READY TO BRING THE HAMMER ON PUTIN IF HE DOESNT COOPERATE AT SUMMITThe White House confirmed that alongside the president and his top economic officials, Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also made the roughly 8-hour journey to Anchorage for "expanded bilateral" discussions and a "working lunch."Though only Witkoff and Rubio will be in the meeting alongside Trump, while Putin is expected to be accompanied byRussian Foreign Minister Lavrov.Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov was also reported to have made the roughly eight-and-a-half-hour flight, but it is unclear if he will be sitting in on the meeting with Putin and Trump.Trump said he will call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders immediately following his discussions with Putin. It remains unclear if Trump and Putin will address the press following the high-level meetings.

Alec Baldwin slams Trump's 'insane' DC takeover, warns he may target other cities and sports leagues next
Actor Alec Baldwin took to his TikTok account on Thursday to rail against President Donald Trump's "insane" takeover of the Washington D.C. police force and warned his followers that other cities and even sports leagues may be next. The staunchly anti-Trump celebrity asserted that he "doesn't need [the] D.C. police to be taken over," and suggested that the president would not stop with D.C. and would pursue any means necessary to "deflect from his inadequacy.""Whats gonna happen next? Is Trump gonna federalize the New York City Police Department? Whats after that? Chicago, L.A., Miami, Boston, and on and on?" he questioned. "Whats after that? The NFL? The NBA? Is he gonna federalize them to take them over?"ALEC BALDWIN CLAIMS AMERICA IS IN A 'PRE-CIVIL WAR' ENVIRONMENT AFTER WATCHING PBS MINISERIESTrump announced Monday that he was federalizing the local police department under section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, which allows the president to assume emergency control of the capital's police force for 30 days.Baldwin expressed his frustration with Trump focusing his attention on crime in D.C. and suggested that the president focus on other pressing issues facing the nation."The takeover of D.C. police. Its not what I need. I dont need [the] D.C. police to be taken over. I dont," he stated. "They need to get the tariffs over with. They need to get the war over with. They need to get the Gaza thing over with. And after that, we have something else we have to get over with."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREIn July 2020, the "30 Rock" star suggested that Trump would use the nations armed forces to somehow stop the general election in November. Those comments from Baldwin came on the heels of a situation in Portland, Ore., that year in which federal agents were deployed to the area amid protests sparked by the May 25 death of George Floyd while in police custody."The police activity in Portland, and lack of outrage over/resistance to it tells us how Trump could stop the election in November," the actor posted to Twitter, now named X. Mosquito-born dengue fever cases surge at popular US vacation destination
Cases of dengue virus continue to surge in Hawaii, with the state recently reporting the 12th case so far this year. One case was confirmed on the island of Maui, with the remaining 11 occurring on Oahu.In the latest case, the person was exposed while traveling in a region where dengue is common, the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) reported.TIGER MOSQUITOES BLAMED FOR SPREAD OF DENGUE FEVER: MOST INVASIVE SPECIESDengue feveris a virus spread through bites from an infected mosquito. It is common in the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific Islands, as well as many Caribbean destinations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).Other countries reporting spikes in dengue fever include Mexico, Fiji, French Polynesia, Tonga, Samoa, the Philippines, Colombia and Brazil. Puerto Rico also has an ongoing dengue outbreak, along with American Samoa. In 2024, there were 1,984 dengue cases in the U.S., according to CDC data. While mosquitoes carrying dengue may be present in Hawaii, the disease is "not endemic" in the state, the DOH stated, adding that "cases are currently limited to travelers."Typical symptoms of dengue include aches and pains (in the eyes, muscles, joints, or bones), nausea, vomiting and rash usually experienced within two weeks of being bitten. Most people experience symptoms for two to seven days before recovering.DENGUE FEVER CASES RISING IN POPULAR SPRING BREAK LOCATIONS, CDC ALERTS"Its typically a more mild illness, but can be severe, causing headaches, joint pain, fever, abdominal pain and even death," Dr. Mark Fischer, regional medical director of International SOS, a leading medical and security services company, previously told Fox News Digital. There is not currently any medication to treat dengue, according to the CDC.Infected people are advised to rest, take acetaminophen for pain and fever, stay hydrated and see a doctor. There isa vaccine available for U.S. children between 9 and 16 years of age who have previously tested positive for dengue and are living in areas where the infection is common. In its alert, the Hawaii DOH called for travelers returning from dengue-endemic areas to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites for three weeks."If dengue symptoms develop within two weeks of return, travelers should seek medical evaluation," the health agency advised.Experts also recommend eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed. Some examples include buckets, water-catching plants (such as bromeliads), small containers, planters, rain barrels and even cups left outside, per the DOH."Pouring out containers of standing water can significantly reduce the potential for mosquito breeding," the agency stated.Fischer added, "Its important to wear insect repellent that contains DEET, picaridin or lemon and eucalyptus oil, as these ingredients are the most effective at repelling mosquitoes and other insects.""Those who live in areas with mosquito populations should try to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, especially at dusk and in the evening, when mosquitoes are most active, to avoid getting bitten on exposed skin."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERKeeping screens on windows and doors is also a good way to prevent insects from entering and potentially causing thespread of disease, he said."If you live in an area that has a high level of mosquito-borne diseases, you should use mosquito nets when sleeping and eliminate any standing water in and around the home, since still bodies of water are breeding grounds for the insects," Fischer added. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews/healthExperts recommend using EPA-registered insect repellent when spending time outdoors in areas where mosquitoes and ticks are prevalent. Those who are spendingprolonged time outdoors should consider treating their clothing with permethrin, which helps to repel insects.

Union boss compares ICE to Al Pacino mobster as more Dems pile on immigration enforcement
The Department of Homeland Security took more rhetorical fire this week from the left over its "mass deportation operation" enforcement of immigration laws, and growing numbers of detainees in federal installations. In Pennsylvania, lawmakers and advocates came together to back a new state bill that would ban law enforcement from obscuring their identity as many ICE officers wear masks to protect themselves from being doxxed where a union boss accused ICE of "disappearing innocent people.""I frankly have been horrified by the conduct of these federal agents as has been reported in the media," said AFL-CIO Philadelphia Council President Danny Bauder.Bauder, flanked by state Sen. Nikil Saval, D-Center City, and Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, went on to accuse ICE of acting like a famous mob informant from an Al Pacino film.ILLINOIS DEMOCRATS TELL FEDS TO STOP TRYING TO USURP STATE AUTHORITY OVER IMMIGRATION"I want to be very clear: kidnapping and disappearing innocent people is disgusting, it's shameful, it's un-American, and any claims to the contrary are absurd," he said Thursday outside ICEs office in Chinatown."There is no good reason why a public servant would ever have to obscure or hide their identity while working in uniform. These ICE agents are not Donnie Brasco in some sort of deep cover situation to take down this enormous organized crime gang.""These are people who are engaged in violent, warrantless kidnapping and detention, and they need to be held accountable for their actions," Bauder said.Saval, sponsor of the "No Secret Police" bill in the Republican-controlled Senate, characterized ICE operations as "heavily-armed, masked, unidentifiable individuals roaming our public spaces disappearing our neighbors and violat[ing] basic vital rights."State Sen. Amanda Cappelletti, D-Norristown, added that ICE has "actively undermine[d] public trust in our law enforcement agencies" and encourages bad actors to impersonate police due to their anonymous nature, according to City & State PA.THREE STATES SIGN NEW AGREEMENTS WITH ICE AMID EXPANDED IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONSState Rep. Rick Krajewski, a democratic socialist representing West Philadelphias University City, introduced a companion bill in the Democratic-majority State House and told the outlet the effort is notably bolstered by a former cop: state Rep. Brian Munroe, D-Warminster."My job will be a lot easier if we dont have a crime wave of people pretending to be ICE," added Krasner.Just down I-95, Maryland Democrats finally made it into the Baltimore ICE office they were rebuffed from a few weeks ago. After their visit, the lawmakers blasted ICE for the process and the conditions inside the Charm City complex.Rep. Kweisi Mfume, D-Md., told Baltimore press that ICE has a "great deal of inefficiency" in its operations."Shame on them," Mfume who represents much of the city said. "The people of this nation deserve better no matter how you feel about immigration."Mfume warned against public complacency, appearing to allege that ICE could easily grab anyone off the street in the future."We recognize that today it's somebody; or else tomorrow, it could in fact be one of us."In July, House Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse and Rep. Jason Crow, both D-Colo., sued the Trump administration over lawmakers being denied access to ICE facilities. This week, they were able to take a sanctioned tour of an Aurora, Colo., facility along with Reps. Diana DeGette and Brittany Pettersen, both Democrats from Colorado.According to a release from Pettersen entitled, "House Democrats hammer ICE after Aurora facility visit," the agency required the group to sign privacy releases to speak with detainees.DeGette called that another way of "stopping" lawmakers from visiting, according to Pettersen.Meanwhile, back east, a congresswoman arrested during a prior ICE facility visit said she would not stop fighting for her cause.Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., told the New Jersey Monitor that she had been criminally charged for doing her job and that being told she could face 17 years in prison is "nothing to joke with.""Im a mother, Im a wife, I have a family," said McIver, who was joined both at the press availability and the raucous Newark ICE detention center visit by Rep. Robert Menendez Jr., D-N.J. whose formerly senatorial father is behind bars on corruption convictions."I think they have an insatiable appetite for this, and its not about violent criminals," Menendez Jr. said of the Trump administrations immigration enforcement.Fox News Digital reached out to DHS for comment.

"They can attack all they want to."The 59-year-old, best known for playing Superman, is set to be sworn in as an agent next week, building on his current role as a deputy sheriff in Virginia. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said theyve received tens of thousands of applications already.Cain says a recent surge in anti-ICE rhetoric and violence spurred his decision after the age cap was removed. DHS has announced that ICE officials faced an 830% increase in assaults between January and July of this year, compared to the same period in 2024."Why are we attacking our ICE agents?" he questioned. Obama's call to Mamdani 'normalizes' the democratic socialist candidate, Sharpton says
MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton said in a new interview that former President Obamas outreach to New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani "normalizes" the democratic socialist candidate for wary Democrats.Barack Obama reached out to Mamdani after he won the citys Democratic mayoral primary in June, according to a New York Times report published Wednesday. According to the report, Obama offered congratulations and governing advice, and discussed with Mamdani the "importance of giving people hope in a dark time."Sharpton commented on the significance of Obamas team showing interest in Mamdanis campaign, according to a report in the New York Post on Thursday."It gives the sense that President Obamas world is comfortable with his candidacy. It normalizes him," Sharpton said.MAMDANI'S FAILURE TO WALK BACK THESE POSITIONS COULD CAUSE RECKONING IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY: 'FIVE-ALARM WARNING'"It helps with the perception of some people that Mamdani is too radical. It sends a message that he is not unacceptable," the political activist and MSNBC host added.A source in Mamdanis campaign told the Post they hope Obamas interest leads to an endorsement. Notably, top New York Democratic Party leaders, including Gov. Kathy Hochul, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have not endorsed the progressive candidate.According to the Times, several other prominent figures in Obamas orbit have been in regular contact with Mamdanis team.Former Obama aide Ben Rhodes wrote a guest essay in the paper this week urging the Democratic establishment to embrace Mamdani's strategy as a model for the partys future."Even when presented with Zohran Mamdanis campaign in New York an innovative example of fresh political tactics and policies many party leaders recoiled. The party seems quite literally afraid of its own future," Rhodes wrote.CITY-RUN GROCERY STORES, DEFUNDING POLICE, SAFE INJECTION SITES: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT NYC'S NEXT POTENTIAL MAYORSeveral of Mamdani's policies, such as city-run grocery stores and freezing rent prices, have drawn scrutiny. The progressive Muslim candidate also faced backlash in June after dodging an interview question about whether he condemned the phrase, "globalize the intifada." At the time, Sharpton called on the front-runner to meet with Jewish leaders and make it clear that he doesnt support antisemitism."Hes running for mayor of New York. You need to take off the table, Do you support international intifada? Period. Not go around it," Sharpton said during an MSNBC segment in June. "I understand you dont want to be forced into something, but I dont think thats what he stands for from what he said to us. And he should say that outright."In comments to business leaders in July, Mamdani clarified that he would not use the controversial phrase and would discourage others from doing so, according to the Times.NEW YORKERS SKEPTICAL AFTER ZOHRAN MAMDANI DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM PHRASE GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADASharpton alsojoined Mamdaniin Harlem in June at a rally for the National Action Network, a civil rights nonprofit founded by Sharpton in the early 90s.
