California school board votes to ban trans athletes from girls' sports amid state's lawsuit with Trump
A school board in California voted to defy state policy and ban trans athletes from girls' sports Tuesday. The Kern County Board of Education approved a resolution to comply with the federal definition of Title IX.The vote comes amid a feud and lawsuit between the state and President Donald Trump's administration over the issue of males competing in girls' sports. Now, at least one school board has opted to side with Trump over the state authorities that have rigorously committed to keeping males in girls' sports this year.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMTrump signed an executive order to ban males from girls' and women's sports nationally back in February, but California was one of the first states to publicly defy the order. The defiance enabled multiple incidents of trans athletes competing in high school girls' basketball, cross-country and track and field in 2025, as California schools were made to continue following the state law that has protected trans inclusion in sports dating back to 2014.The issue came to a head during the spring high school track and field postseason, when transgender athlete AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High School made a run for two girls' state titles. In May, three of the state's esteemed Christian high schools sent a letter to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) challenging its longstanding policy that allows biological males in girls' sports. Many residents, girls' athletes and even entire educational institutions protested the trans athlete's inclusion.Earlier that month, JSerra Catholic High School, Orange Lutheran High School and Crean Lutheran High School sent a joint letter to the CIF on Thursday."CIFs Gender Identity Policy also fosters an environment that is increasingly hostile to religious member schools. CIFs expectation that all faith-based schools facilitate the CIF Gender Identity Policy puts religious schools in the untenable position of adhering to the tenets of their faith in their classrooms and communities but practicing something contrary to their faith on their athletic fields," the letter read. Now, the Kern County Board of Education is the first public school board to stand up to the state and side with Trump over the issue.Maine, which is engulfed in a similar lawsuit with Trump over the same issue, also saw two of its public school boards pass resolutions in April to locally ban trans athletes from competing in girls' sports.TEEN GIRLS OPEN UP ON TRANS-ATHLETE SCANDAL THAT TURNED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL INTO CULTURE WAR BATTLEGROUNDTrump's Department of Justice is now suing both states, seeking injunctions on the policies that continue to enable males to compete in girls' sports and use girls' locker rooms.Californias policies "eviscerate equal athletic opportunities for girls they also require girls to share intimate spaces, such as locker rooms, with boys, causing a hostile educational environment that denies girls educational opportunities," the lawsuit against California argues."The results of these illegal policies are stark: girls are displaced from podiums, denied awards, and miss out on critical visibility for college scholarships and recognition."California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom has said that the California Department of Education and CIF were following laws enacted in 2013."I struggled with the issue of fairness when it came to sports," Newsom said in response to the lawsuit at a July event. "And we tried to figure that out a couple of years ago, and we were unsuccessful, and we struggled with that recently."And my position is that I dont think its fair, but I also think its demeaning to talk down to people, and to belittle the trans community. And I dont like the way the right wing talks about the trans community. These people just want to survive."Newsom previously garnered mixed responses within his party when he said he believed males competing in girls' sports is "deeply unfair" in a March episode of his podcast. Still, he has declined to commit to or even support the idea of banning males from girls' sports.Newsom is not named as a defendant in the DOJ lawsuit.A bipartisan survey by the Public Policy Institute of California found the majority of California residents oppose biological male trans athletes competing in women's sports. That figure included more than 70% of the state's school parents."Most Californians support requiring transgender athletes to compete on teams matching the sex they were assigned at birth," the poll stated."Solid majorities of adults (65%) and likely voters (64%) support requiring that transgender athletes compete on teams that match the sex they were assigned at birth, not the gender they identify with. An overwhelming majority of public school parents (71%) support such a requirement."Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

DAVID MARCUS: Trump takes on Smithsonians lefty bias and statue-toppling libs melt down
Democrats who cheered the toppling of statues of American heroes such as Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt in 2020, are suddenly deeply concerned that the Trump administration is seeking to curate the Smithsonian museums to better express American exceptionalism. Please, spare us.Take Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota and self-professed white guy taco connoisseur, who took to X this week.WHITE HOUSE REVIEWING ALL SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM, EXHIBIT CONTENT BEFORE AMERICA 250 CELEBRATION IN 2026"If youre trying to erase history, youre on the wrong side of it," he wrote. But where was this pious outrage when protesters illegally tore down a 90-year-old Christopher Columbus statue at his state capitol in 2020?That erasure of history was done by an angry mob, with no process. I know, because I read all about it in a 2022 article with the fluffy bubblegum title, "Meet the Indigenous Activist Who Toppled Minnesotas Christopher Columbus Statue."Care to take a guess where that article was published? I swear, Im not making this up: It was in theSmithsonian Magazine.Heres a gem from the apologia, sympathetically describing the vandalism, "Its a beautiful thing because we have suffered from what [Columbus] did to us, said Dorene Day, an Ojibwe woman who brought several of her children and her grandchildren to the protest."Im sure you will be shocked to know that the Smithsonian article did not quote a single Columbus supporter, or even acknowledge that such a position was remotely possible. It basically lamented that the statue had not come down sooner. This is exactly the kind of one-sided, far-left version of history that President Trump and his administration seek to rectify with their review of the museums offerings.Dont get me wrong, the Smithsonian is a wonderful institution. But the leftist lean has been clear for a long time, including the initial exclusion of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from the African American History museum. This speaks to an issue that goes back much farther than the radicalism of 2020. For decades, perhaps half a century, progressives have held hegemonic control over our cultural and historical institutions; Their rule went all but unchallenged. In their version of events, America is always at fault for the oppression of Americans and pretty much everything else that's wrong in the world. One display about Cuban immigration blames U.S. intervention in Latin America and entirely leaves out the name Fidel Castro. This all raises the question of who gets to decide how we tell the story of our nation? In 2020, under the approving gaze of Democrats, it was protesters who illegally made the decisions. And even when statues were removed "officially," it never involved a referendum, rather wokesters just formed little committees and had their way with our history.According to arecent poll, only 37% of Democrats do not think there is anything to celebrate as the United States turns 250 years old next year. This is because the elites in the academy and our cultural institutions have instilled this version of events in the "well educated."The story of history changes over time. It was not until the 1950s, for example, that the Crusades began to be looked at as some kind of racist, colonizing enterprise, and today, it is being revisited by some scholars, viewed more as a needed defensive counterattack against Muslim aggression. This is not to say that one version of events, be they about the Crusades or the Civil War, is right or wrong. But what is wrong is to ignore the arguments in favor of American greatness so as to only expose our dark underbelly.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONEssentially, somewhere along the line, the decision was made that patriotism does not belong in the museum. It is a bizarre stance that flies in the face of the very history of museums, and there is no reason for the Trump administration to let this fester any longer.Walz and the statue-toppling hypocrites really need to sit this one out. They have already proven that they will happily destroy history to suit their agenda, so they have no leg to stand on in denying conservatives a seat at the Smithsonian table. The process to make changes to the Smithsonian under Trump are open, public, and transparent. Finally, this can be a national debate and not just leftists forcing anti-American ideas down our throats. This process is a lot more than we ever got in 2020, when history was simply taken from us. Many Americans, from coast to coast, welcome it.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DAVID MARCUS

Russian oligarchs $325M seized superyacht heads to auction as TrumpPutin summit nears
A $325 million superyacht seized by the U.S. from a sanctioned Russian oligarchpart of Washingtons effort to punish Moscows elite over the invasion of Ukraineis headed to auction, marking the first sale of its kind since the war began. The auction of Amadea, once owned by Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov, comes as President Donald Trump heads to Alaska this week to negotiate an end to the Kremlin's three-and-a-half-year war.The government argued in a legal filing last year for selling the yacht, citing monthly maintenance costs of approximately $600,000 plus a $143,750 insurance premium. The stunning 348-foot-long yacht features eight state rooms, a beauty salon and spa, a gym, a helipad, a swimming pool, hot tub, fire pit, and two elevators.Built in 2017 by the famed German shipyard Lrssen, the yacht boasts interiors by legendary designer Francois Zuretti, offering opulent spaces adorned with extensive marble work.RUSSIA MAY GAIN UKRAINES FERTILE, RESOURCE-RICH TERRITORY AS TRUMP PROPOSES LAND SWAPThe six-deck yacht is designed to accommodate 16 guests and 36 crew and the lower deck is entirely reserved for the owner's personal use. The owner's deck includes a lounge area with a grand piano, bar and fireplace, a separate living room and office. This deck also features a beauty center, a dressing room with several closets and an island. The owner's bathroom has his and her toilets and separate vanities. The owner's stateroom has several seating areas, a television and opens up to a deck with a Jacuzzi hot tub.Amadea also comes with its own spa that includes a sauna, a Turkish-style steam room, a chromotherapy plunge pool that utilizes colored LED lighting to influence mood, as well as a dedicated massage room. The yacht also has a cinema that features plush seating that moves and vibrates in sync with the action on screen. Guests aboard the Amadea can also enjoy the 33-foot infinity swimming pool and swim-up bar.Interested bidders must first put down a 10 million euro deposit, which is roughly $11.6 million, to be considered. The auction is slated to close on Sept. 10.In the days following Russias full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Biden administration launched a new task force, dubbed KleptoCapture, to enforce sprawling sanctions on Russian elites accused of bankrolling Putins war. Under KleptoCapture, U.S. authorities undertook the gargantuan task of tracking high-value assets around the globe belonging to sanctioned Russians with ties to the Kremlin. After investigators unraveled the Amadeas opaque ownership, the $325 million superyacht entered U.S. crosshairs and was seized in Lautoka, Fiji, in 2022.U.S. authorities claimed Amadea belonged to Kerimov, a Russian billionaire sanctioned by the U.S. in 2018. At the time, the Treasury Departments Office of Foreign Assets Control described Kerimov as an oligarch who profited from Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea.National Maritime Services, a Florida-based company that specializes in seized vessels, took custody of Amadea in 2022. The yacht is currently docked in the Port of San Diego, where it has accrued $1.1 million in fuel, security, and other fees since arriving in June 2022.A U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson said that following Amadeas sale, the agency's Asset Forfeiture Division will disperse the funds to various areas."Some of the areas the money goes to are victim compensation, program expenses, and other agency expenses," the spokesperson said, declining to elaborate on specifics.

'Not a politician': Father of young cancer survivor DJ Daniel runs for Texas 18th district seat
FIRST ON FOX: When Devarjay "DJ" Daniel was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, his father, Theodis Daniel, said he found the courage to fight for his son. Now, speaking first to Fox News Digital, Daniel said he's ready to fight for Texas' 18th congressional district.Daniel joins a crowded field of candidates from across the political spectrum, but the father and veteran said his campaign is unlike the others."I'm a regular guy. I am not a politician," Daniel said. "I don't have six-figure deals. I'm just a regular dude trying to make it. Single dad. I got three kids to myself. I'm a disabled veteran just trying to make a difference regardless of what I'm going through."SCOOP: REPUBLICAN LAUNCHES HOUSE BID IN KEY SWING DISTRICT GOP AIMS TO FLIP IN 2026 MIDTERMSAnd ultimately, Daniel explained, he is going to "get up every day and get out there and make it happen" for the people of Texas' 18th congressional district.JOE ROGAN URGES PROGRESSIVE TEXAS DEMOCRAT TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT, CALLING HIM A 'GOOD PERSON'"I don't call myself a politician," Daniel said. "I'm a public servant first, because my duty is to the people."The Republican candidate said he is running "for those who struggle," explaining that his campaign priorities supporting law enforcement, safety, healthcare and education aren't just abstract ideas but "battles my family and I face every day."Daniel's 13-year-old son, DJ, was named an honorary U.S. Secret Service agent during President Donald Trump's joint address to Congress earlier this year. Daniel proudly raised his son up over his shoulder as politicians jumped to their feet for a standing ovation. The moment catapulted Daniel into the national conversation, and the 13-year-old was invited to visit Trump at the White House the following day."Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police. His name is DJDaniel, he is 13 years old, and he has always dreamed of becoming a police officer," Trump said."Tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service," Trump continued.Daniel has now been sworn in at more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country, the White House confirmed in May."DJ initially had five months to live, and we've beaten that," Daniel shared with Fox News Digital. The veteran said he has learned resilience in the face of adversity."I want to run because I feel like everything that my son and I have been doing for the last six years or so, we have brought joy to people's lives and gave them hope, which I didn't think it was going to turn into nothing like this, but it feels good," Daniel said.Daniel said the constituents of Texas' 18th congressional district have been "duped," and they are ready for real progress. He also committed to a term-limit if he's elected to Congress this November, explaining that many elected officials lose sight of their mission and get too comfortable in office."Sometimes, when you marinate meat, you kind of ruin it. Some people just wear out their welcome. It's like somebody coming to your house, wanting to stay for a little bit, and they stay there for two or three days," Daniel said."Well, these folks got comfortable. When people get comfortable, they get lazy. When they get lazy, they get forgetful and disrespectful," Daniel added.Texas is holding a special election on Nov. 4 to replace the late Rep. Sylvester Turner, who succeeded the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.Lee represented Texas 18th congressional district for nearly three decades before her death in July 2024. Turner also died in March 2025, leading to the current special election.Texas' 18th congressional district represents parts of northern and eastern Houston, including downtown, as well as the nearby city of Humble and Harris County.
