Off-grid cabin design required a helicopter installation
Perched on the highest point of British Columbia's Keats Island is The Nest, a stunning off-grid retreat that balances sustainability with bold architecture.Designed by Vancouver-based Daria Sheina Studio, this prefabricated cabin feels like a modern sculpture dropped in the middle of a moss-covered forest. But don't let its sleek lines fool you. This structure runs entirely off the grid and was installed in just two days after arriving by truck, barge and helicopter.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. But her clients, Sean Sikorski and Chadd Andre, immediately paused on it, drawn to its bold simplicity. Their reaction sparked what would become the defining form of The Nest two interlocked geometric shapes, rotated and stacked like modern building blocks carved out of wood. The Nest was carefully designed for the rugged terrain of Keats Island. With no road access, every construction decision had to account for tricky logistics. In collaboration with BC Passive House, the components were prefabricated to exact weights and dimensions.Once on site, a helicopter airlifted them to the build location like a life-sized puzzle coming together midair. Inside, the three-story structure opens up with a minimalist design. Exposed wood, green Marmoleum floors and large sliding doors keep the space connected to nature. The cabin includes an open-concept first floor with a living area, kitchen and bathroom, while the upper levels house cozy bedrooms.Everything about The Nest speaks to sustainable living. Solar panels power the home. A rainwater collection and filtration system supplies drinking water. There's even an incinerating toilet to handle waste. Its foundation minimizes environmental impact by reducing the need for concrete, and its Western red cedar exterior will age naturally into the forest surroundings.GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HEREThe name The Nest was chosen for the sense of shelter, intimacy and belonging it conveys, themes that guided both the architecture and the experience. Rather than a sprawling footprint, the design centers around circular movement, thoughtful flow and a deep connection to place. Inside, expansive glass frames moss-covered trees and sweeping views of Howe Sound, creating the feeling that the entire island is yours.Whether you dream of an off-grid lifestyle or just love good design, The Nest shows what's possible when creativity meets eco-conscious building. It's not just about remote living. It's about living better with less footprint and more intention. Prefabrication, smart logistics and sustainable systems make this model repeatable in other locations. The Nest proves that off-grid doesn't mean off-limits when it comes to comfort, beauty or sustainability. With a compact footprint and low environmental impact, this cabin offers a luxury escape without leaving a heavy mark. It's a case study in how thoughtful design can rise to meet even the wildest of settings.Would you trade modern convenience for complete privacy and connection to nature? Climate lawfare campaign dealt blow in South Carolina
A judge on Wednesday dismissed the City of Charleston's lawsuit against two dozen energy companies, saying the court does not have authority under South Carolina law to move forward with lawsuits that make sweeping allegations about climate change.Judge Roger Young of the South Carolina Court of Common Pleas said lawsuits alleging oil and gas companies negatively affect the climate could open floodgates to lawsuits being brought over any weather activity and could lead to a "list of potential plaintiffs" that is "unbounded.""Already, scores of states, counties, and municipalities have sued a hodgepodge of oil-and-gas companies for the alleged weather-related effects of climate change," Young wrote in an opinion. "If these lawsuits were successful, municipalities, companies, and individuals across the country could bring suits for injuries after every weather event. The list of potential plaintiffs is unbounded."CLIMATE LAWFARE IN BLUE-STATE COURTS COULD HURT US ENERGY CONSUMERS, EXPERT SAYS: 'HUGE EFFECT'The judge's decision was made with prejudice, meaning the lawsuit cannot be brought again. But Charleston could appeal the decision. The city first brought the lawsuit in 2020, alleging the energy companies and the pipeline were a nuisance and did not adequately warn about the effects fossil fuels have on the climate. The city said the defendants should owe damages for what it said was increased flooding, damaging storms, higher temperatures and ecosystem disruptions.Environmentalists and climate change advocates have brought lawsuits across the country, such as those challenging emissions caused by the trucking industry, to impose restrictions on fossil fuels and promote alternative forms of energy. Opponents of those efforts praised Youngs decision Thursday.CLIMATE CULT ON NOTICE AS LAWMAKERS PUSH TO LET FEDS HOP BLUE-STATE ROADBLOCKS TO US ENERGY DOMINANCE'Spero Laws Christopher Mills, a constitutional law expert who previously clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas, called the dismissal of the lawsuit "unsurprising.""Judge Young followed the clear consensus of courts across the nation, which have agreed that state tort law is not the right avenue to address the complex issue of global climate change," Mills said."It would be a shame if the city continued to lend its name to this meritless quest by West Coast trial lawyers to deprive Americans of vital energy resources. In fact, as Judge Young explained, the citys theory would make itself liable, since it has long used and continue[s] to use fossil fuels for myriad purposes and built and maintained nearly all the roads and bridges that make fossil-fuel-powered transportation possible."Jason Isaac, CEO of the American Energy Institute, said in a statement the lawsuit was part of an "ESG-driven" operation, a reference to the practice of investing based on political agendas."Courts should not be weaponized to blame American energy producers for the global and eternal phenomenon of a changing climate," Isaac said. "This case was part of a coordinated, ESG-driven campaign to shake down energy companies and impose climate policy through litigation rather than legislation. The judge was right to throw it out."

Trump, GOP fight antisemitic violence amid latest FBI probe in sharp contrast to Biden's silence
President Donald Trump has taken a much harsher approach to address the rise of antisemitic violence in the U.S. in comparison to his predecessor, from launching task forces to penalizing academic institutions who have become embroiled in anti-Israel protests. For example, Trump's Justice Department cracked down on Palestinian militant group Hamas, establishing a new task force in March aimed at providing justice to the victims of Hamas Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.Attorney General Pam Bondi said the group, known as Joint Task Force October 7, would focus on identifying, charging and prosecuting those who conducted the 2023 attacks, which took the lives of roughly 1,200 people including 47 U.S. citizens. Hamas also took more than 250 people hostage that day, including eight U.S. citizens.Meanwhile, the Biden administration recently came under fire in a House Judiciary Committee memo in July that claims his administration directed taxpayer funding to protests in Israel against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."The Committees oversight has revealed that the BidenHarris Administration provided grant funds to groups that contributed directly and indirectly to the judicial reform protests that sought to undermine the Israeli government," the committee wrote in the memo.Meanwhile, lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee are cautioning that antisemitic attacks are becoming "alarmingly more frequent" in the U.S. as the FBI launches an investigation into antisemitic graffiti outside the home of a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier in Clayton, Missouri. The Clayton, Missouri, Police Department said Tuesday in a statement that it had launched an investigation after officers found "Death to the IDF" emblazoned on the pavement next to three vehicles that had been set on fire. The police department said it believed the fire had been "intentionally set," and that the victim had been "specifically targeted."The IDF is the national military for Israel, which has been embroiled in a conflict with Gaza after Hamas launched an attack against Israel. Hamas has served as the governing body of Gaza. It's unclear whether the IDF soldier involved in the Missouri incident is Jewish. The attack follows several other antisemitic acts of violence in 2025, including ones in Boulder, Colorado, and Washington, D.C., this spring.AUTHORITIES PROBE ANTISEMITIC ATTACK INVOLVING ARSON, THREATENING GRAFFITI IN MIDWEST CITY: 'VIOLENT ACTS'"No American should live in fear because of their political or religious beliefs," Rep. August Pfluger, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committees counterterrorism and intelligence subcommittee, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "Yet, this week, a Jewish American with a record of courageous service supporting one of our nations closest allies had their private property set on fire by extremists seeking to intimidate them and their family. Heightened antisemitic and anti-Israel acts of violence on U.S. soil are becoming alarmingly more frequent.""These are not isolated incidents, but part of a broader and deeply troubling surge in hatred fueled by propaganda online and on college campuses," Pfluger said.Leo Terrell, head of the Justice Departments Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, said in a Tuesday X post that the attack occurred outside the home of a U.S. citizen who served in the IDF.Terrell also said the FBI was immediately contacted and is working in tandem with local authorities to investigate the matter. Local authorities said they are probing the attack as a hate crime. The FBI and the White House did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.Pfluger has repeatedly cautioned about the rise of antisemitic violence, and the House Homeland Security Committee met with stakeholders and law enforcement to address the matter during a closed-door congressional roundtable on July 22.Additionally, Pfluger held a hearing in June on the matter following a terrorist attack in Colorado targeting a grassroots group advocating for the release of Israeli hostages, and a May shooting that killed two Israeli Embassy employees in Washington.RISE IN ANTISEMITIC EXTREMISM FUELS WAVE OF TERROR PLOTS IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE 2020On Wednesday, the Justice Department unsealed an indictment against Elias Rodriguez, 31, the suspect involved in the shooting in Washington, revealing federal hate crime and murder charges in connection with the shooting. The indictment is on top of other charges brought against Rodriguez in a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, including charges of the murder of a foreign official, causing death through the use of a firearm and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. The indictment includes two federal counts of hate crime resulting in death, and two local counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.Meanwhile, antisemitic violence reached a new high in 2024, according to the Anti-Defamation League.CRITICAL CLOSED-DOOR CONGRESSIONAL HUDDLE FOCUSES ON GROWING ANTISEMITISM IN US, MAMDANI'S RISEThe group recorded 9,354 antisemitic instances of harassment, assault and vandalism in the U.S. in 2024 a 5% increase from the 8,873 incidents recorded in 2023 and a 344% increase in the past five years. The number of incidents is the highest the group has recorded since 1979, when the group first started tracking these cases.Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Rep. Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y., said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Thursday that he is "deeply concerned" about the increase in antisemitic violence and terrorism including this most recent attack."There is no place in America for this vile hatred and intimidation, but it has surged in the years following the devastating, cowardly, and unprovoked October 7 attacks by Hamas," Garbarino said.Fox News' Ashley Oliver contributed to this report.

Were you against doing a cognitive test for President Biden?" Hasnie asked, though Dunn refused to answer."Were you afraid of sharing any of the results from a cognitive test? Would you have supported a cognitive test if the doctor would have approved it?" Hasnie continued to ask. "Do you think the president was fit to serve for another four years?"WHO IS ANITA DUNN? THE BIDEN CONFIDANTE WHO CLASHED WITH HUNTER GRILLED IN HOUSE AUTOPEN PROBEHasnie also inquired whether Dunn had a response to Anthony Bernals characterization of her as disloyal in a recently released book."Are you disloyal to the Biden family?" $93 million in aid to fight malnutrition headed to 12 African countries, Haiti, State Dept says
The Trump administration will deliver $93 million in new food aid to 12 African countries and Haiti to fight malnutrition, the State Department has announced.State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a Thursday press briefing that the Trump administration will treat nearly one million children suffering from malnutrition through $93 million in ready-use therapeutic food (RUTF).The food aid will be distributed in Haiti, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria, Madagascar, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Kenya and Chad.GAZA HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE US-BACKED AID GROUPFollowing the announcement, Pigott was asked to square the discrepancy between the Trump administration's revocation of visas belonging to Haitians in the U.S. and plans to potentially deport them, with the administration's efforts to try to promote stability in the region through food assistance. "Look, we've seen actions from this administration in order to try to encourage stability in Haiti. We've seen actions, announcements taken to try to go after those that are leading to instability in Haiti," Pigott responded."For specifics on TPS, I assume that you're talking about whether they are afraid of [Department of Homeland Security] in terms of those specific decisions. But we have seen actions here from the State Department to try to encourage stability in Haiti."RUBIO OFFICIALLY KILLS USAID, REVEALS FUTURE HOME FOR FOREIGN ASSISTANCE PROGRAMSThe announcement about new foreign nutrition aid comes after the Trump administration gutted billions from the government's spending on foreign aid. As part of the reforms, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the primary government agency tasked with disbursing foreign aid, was folded into the State Department. The $93 million in new food assistance will be utilized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and will run until June, according to Semafor, which spoke to a State Department official familiar with the new food aid disbursement. In addition to providing ready-to-eat food, the new assistance, which will all be American-made, according to the State Department, will also be used to help produce or grow more ready-to-eat food, Semafor reported.

$30K in migrant housing aid has Dem gov on hot seat for 'revolving door' policy
While she is shutting down her sanctuary states migrant shelters, critics are accusing Democratic Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey of simply shifting the costs over to a program that makes migrants eligible to receive at least $30,000 in housing assistance over two years. The Boston Herald reported in June that the Healey administration had increased spending in Massachusetts HomeBASE program to $97 million in 2025, up from $9.5 million in 2022, according to state data. The outlet reported that eligible families in the Massachusetts-run shelter system were being provided with $30,000 in rental assistance over two years. According to the Herald, the total caseload for HomeBASE increased under Healey from 1,473 in January 2023 to 7,767 in April 2025, more than a 400 percent increase. The outlet also said that some eligible families could qualify for an additional $15,000 in a third year of assistance but that state officials planned to pause third year assistance in July. After that report, Massachusetts GOP Chair Amy Carnevale commented that the HomeBASE program amounted to being "shelters by another name."DHS SCOOPS UP CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECTED OF KILLING MAN ON LAWNMOWER: 'SENSELESS TRAGEDY'"Taxpayers are giving migrant families nearly limitless free rental assistance. Meanwhile, federal action means these families wont be receiving work permits anytime soon," she went on, adding, "The migrant shelter crisis is not over, and cost-shifting is not leadership."This month, Healey announced the closure of all remaining hotel shelters in the Bay State amid the formal termination of her executive emergency focused on the states Biden-era migrant influx. In a statement emailed to Fox News Digital, Carnevale said that "friends, favors, and failures continue to emerge even as she declares that the migrant crisis is over.""Healey should rip off the Band-Aid and tell the public whether these same oversights are occurring in the HomeBASE program," she continued.TOM HOMAN PUTS SANCTUARY CITIES 'ON NOTICE' AS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CRACKS DOWN ON IMMIGRATION"The abuse of taxpayer dollars, coupled with a stunning lack of oversight by Maura Healey and her administration, will define her legacy as governor."Meanwhile, Jon Fetherston, a former Massachusetts migrant shelter director who blew the whistle about rampant crime and abuse taking place in the system, commented that "instead of creating stability, HomeBase has become a revolving door of short-term rental assistance."He said that because migrants often spend the bulk of their $30,000 on upfront costs, many become unable to sustain their housing within months."The Healey Administrations expansion of the HomeBASE program was sold to the public as a solution, one that would save money, reduce shelter dependence, and help migrant families become self-sufficient. But the reality is far different," he explained. "HomeBASE is now a bloated, mismanaged program thats failing both the taxpayers who fund it and the migrants it claims to help."ICE RAID TIPOFFS FROM DEM LAWMAKER COULD MEAN CHARGES, SAYS DHS REP: 'LOOKS LIKE OBSTRUCTION'"HomeBASE, in its current form, is a broken promise," he said. "Taxpayers are footing a nearly $100 million bill with little transparency, no measurable outcomes and no end in sight. The promise of savings from closing hotel shelters is being quietly replaced with backdoor spending that still lacks accountability."This isnt a hand-up; its a setup for failure."Fox News Digital reached out to Healeys office for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

'Diva' Crockett slammed in scathing report alleging 'toxic staff environment' where staff is berated to tears
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, one of the most prominent anti-Trump voices in Congress, is the subject of a scathing report this week that labels her as a "diva" and someone who terrorizes staff members.Several congressional aides who worked for or with Crocketttold the New York Post this week that Crockett, 44, described the firebrand congresswoman as "rude" and rarely present in her Washington, D.C., office except when the cameras are rolling."She is laying around her apartment, wont come into the office, and is really just indifferent to staff and will scream at them," one former aide told the outlet, adding that Crockett is "never in the office" and "very disengaged."The former staffer added that Crockett "freaks out over the most random things."CROCKETT CHEERS TEXAS DEMS FLEEING TO DELAY CONGRESSIONAL MAPS BACKED BY 'RIDICULOUS TYRANT' TRUMP: 'DEUCES!'Another source that is "widely known" the Crockett mistreats staff and is a "diva" that is"focused almost exclusively on being an influencer"Crockett, who has served in Congress as a representative from Texas since 2023, regularly goes viral for her criticisms of Trump and has called him a "piece of s***" and an "enemy to the United States." The congresswoman is also known for blasting Trump during committee hearings in speeches that often go viral on social media. The report goes on to say that Crockett usually works from a luxury office building instead of her office and is known for requiring staffers to drive her short distances in a rented car, rather than their personal car, which is typically the method used to save costs.CROCKETT SAID SHE 'BROKE DOWN IN TEARS' WATCHING ALEX PADILLA GET FORCIBLY REMOVED FROM PRESS CONFERENCEDuring those trips, according to the New York Post, Crockett demands the rented car "has to be an Escalade" or something similar and staffers are told to open the door for her."The staff is really just an island unto itself, because she doesnt care about the local issues happening in her district," a source told the New York Post. "Shes more focused on, Get me on "The View," Get me on this late-night talk show."Crockett made headlines last year for criticizing the appearance of GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene while using the term "butch."According to the report, gay staffers in Crocketts office took issue with that term, and Crockett dismissed their concerns."Thats not offensive," Crockett said, according to a former aide. "Youre stupid if you think so."The report goes on to say that Crockett has burned staff members at a rapid pace due to a "toxic staff environment" that has left Black female staff members feeling a lack of empowerment. At one point, Crockett reportedly made a staff member cry after saying, "Do you really want to be here? And if not, you can leave!"Crockett was criticized earlier this year when she appeared to board a flight while skipping ahead of two passengers in wheelchairs in an incident that is reportedly indicative of her overall personality."Her cutting in line in front of a handicapped person is really indicative of the type of person she is," a source close to Crockett told the New York Post. "She is interpersonally very rude and doesnt get along well with people."Fox News Digital reached out to Crocketts office for comment.

Chiefs legend Derrick Johnson warns 'the devil' is weakening American children
Seven years after playing his final NFL game, former Kansas City Chiefs star Derrick Johnson is turning his attention to educating the youth of America.Johnson, who published his first children's book Thursday, felt compelled to join the effort to encourage children to stand up for themselves against bullies after witnessing a negative influence on American youth in recent years. He blames "the devil" for this influence.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"The enemy really loves to get our kids in a corner to say, 'Hey, dont tell nobody about nothing, just internalize it,'" Johnson told Fox News Digital. "The enemy is the devil. I'm a big believer in Jesus Christ, and the enemy is always at work, especially for kids that have potential."And if kids don't have mentors around them, the enemy can manipulate them at times and make things seem more than what it is and make it seem like they don't have a way out. And that's when you get into kids really isolating themselves."Johnson encouraged parents to instill the teachings of Jesus Christ in their children to help counter these "harmful" elements."If you're a child of God, nobody can dim that light. So, you were bought at a high price, by the blood of Jesus Christ, so that allows you to be here," Johnson said of the effect of Christianity on parenting. "Being able to have that identity in Christ is everything. It allows them to stay grounded, not that life is going to be perfect if you got church but at least you have the proper tools to make things happen."FALCONS QUARTERBACK KIRK COUSINS REVEALS VERY RELATABLE HAIRCUT EXPERIENCE WITH ONE EXCEPTIONJohnson cited modern digital devices as a channel for how this negative influence has been imposed on children and prevented them from speaking up and pushing back against "harmful" forces in their lives."The digital devices are making us less personable," Johnson said. "Kids get on those iPhones, and you never know what they see on there. And they don't even purposely have to do it, it's just an attention-getter. Now, there's cyberbullying, there's a lot of different ways you can bully somebody and really kill their confidence through social media and whatnot."As the son of a veteran teacher, the former linebacker also pointed to a decline in the quality of public education in America."It's getting worse. And that's why I'm in this fight," Johnson said of American public education. "My mom being a teacher for over 40 years, I know what it means to serve the youth at a high level. And, a lot of times, they just need more help and more resources so they can really push the mission."Public schools are at a standstill. We have to put more attention on them, more resources, pumping more money into there and using it the right way, obviously. Not just a dollar amount, but using it in a strategic way."Johnson is doing his part to try and contribute his experience to American education with his new book "Super DJ Saves Field Day." Johnson said he is already planning to write sequels and create a series.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

White House launches federal security blitz as president vows to end DC 'crime plague'
In an effort to crack down on crime in the nations capital, President Donald Trump is ramping up federal enforcement in Washington, D.C., and deploying additional federal law enforcement agents this week.Backed by a March executive order, the White House, respective federal agencies and local officials will work together to drive down D.C. crime.D.C. residents can expect an increase in federal enforcement starting as early as Friday, officials said."Washington, D.C., is an amazing city, but it has sadly been plagued by petty and violent crime for far too long," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital. "President Trump is committed to making our nations capital safer and even more beautiful for its residents, lawmakers, and visitors from all around the world."DC US ATTORNEY SAYS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AS YOUTH CRIME PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON NATIONS CAPITALTrump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults after a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee reported being violently beaten in the city by two juveniles.A White House official told Fox News Digital the effort to revitalize the capital has been an ongoing priority for the president, who established the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force through the "Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful" executive order.Federal officials will monitor D.C.s sanctuary city status to ensure compliance with federal immigration law and support the full accreditation of the districts forensic crime laboratory to aid local investigations.TRUMP THREATENS TO FEDERALIZE DC AFTER EX-DOGE EMPLOYEE 'BIG BALLS' VIOLENTLY BEATENThe task force is also providing assistance to the city's Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to boost recruitment, retain officers and facilitate work with federal personnel to reduce crime.Other areas of focus include expediting the concealed carry permitting process in D.C., ending fare evasion and other crimes within the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority system and reviewing prosecutorial policies on pretrial detention to ensure suspects who pose a genuine threat to public safety are detained.WATCH: TRUMP HINTS HE WILL FEDERALIZE DC SOON, BRING IN NATIONAL GUARD AFTER BIG BALLS ATTACKOne of the most visible changes will be a heightened federal law enforcement presence in and around key locations in the city.Officials said deployments will include areas including the National Mall, Lafayette Park, Union Station, Rock Creek Park and major parkways. The task force has already made progress, using federal enforcement and the National Park Services to increase enforcement, arrest illegal immigrants and remove homeless encampments from parks and public spaces.Operational details had not been finalized as of Thursday afternoon.
