WWW.FOXNEWS.COMTrump exploits loopholes to keep Alina Habba in US attorney role, triggering court clashPresident Donald Trump is pulling out all the stops to keep his loyal allies in top prosecutor roles in blue states, including his former personal attorney Alina Habba in New Jersey, where a court battle now casts doubt over who is running the U.S. attorney's office.Trump has attempted to circumvent the Senate confirmation process to maintain Habba's authority, as well as the authority of his appointees in California and New York. Habba's appointment, however, has been complicated by a legal challenge from a criminal defendant in her district.Habba said in a statement to Fox News Digital she is unfazed by the development."I am confident we will win any and all attempts to thwart the well-established Article II Powers of the Executive Branch and the President of the United States," Habba said.NEWARK MAYOR SUES INTERIM US ATTORNEY FOR FALSE ARREST, MALICIOUS PROSECUTIONHabbas appointment appeared set to end last week when federal judges in New Jersey voted to replace her instead of extending her temporary term under federal vacancy laws. The judges picked veteran prosecutor Desiree Leigh Grace to succeed Habba, who lacks a prosecutorial background. But the Trump administration attempted to outmaneuver the judges by firing Grace and switching Habba from interim to "acting" U.S. attorney. The move has caused confusion about who is leading the office, according to the attorney of criminal defendant Julien Giraud.Giraud is facing run-of-the-mill drug and gun charges in Habba's district, but his attorney, Thomas Mirigliano, said Habba's "irregular" designation and re-designation as U.S. attorney is unlawful and grounds for dismissing his client's case.DOJ SWIFTLY FIRES ALINA HABBA'S COURT-APPOINTED REPLACEMENT FOR US ATTORNEY IN NEW JERSEY"Facing an imminent criminal trial proceeding under questionable legal authority, Giraud Jr., hereby seeks dismissal of the indictment or, alternatively, injunctive relief barring Ms. Habba, or any Assistant United States Attorney acting under her purported authority, from exercising further prosecutorial powers in this matter," Mirigliano wrote in court papers.Court proceedings across the District of New Jersey were also brought to a standstill because of the lingering questions about Habba's authority, the New York Times reported Monday.A federal judge in Pennsylvania is overseeing Giraud's new motion because of the New Jersey federal court's conflict of interest in the matter. To appoint Habba as acting U.S. attorney, Trump also had to withdraw her nomination as permanent U.S. attorney. Sens. Cory Booker and Andy Kim, New Jersey's Democratic senators, had blocked her path to confirmation through the Senate's blue slip tradition. Booker said in a statement that he too thought Habba had unlawfully reassumed the role as top prosecutor in his state."This Administrationmay not like the law, but they are not above it," Booker said.Similar situations cropped up in New York and California but have not invited the same level of scrutiny as Habba's has at this stage.WHITE HOUSE HITS BACK AT DEM MAYOR SUING US ATTORNEY AFTER ICE ARREST: DESPERATE ATTEMPTBill Essayli, the temporary U.S. attorney in the Central District of California, was transitioned Tuesday from interim to acting U.S. attorney at the end of his 120-day tenure. Essayli is a Trump-aligned prosecutor who made national headlines after he brought a series of high-profile charges against anti-ICE activists protesting in Los Angeles last month, but critics have observed that his office has since moved to dismiss some of those cases or reduce the charges. The chief judge in Essaylis district, Dolly Gee, an Obama appointee, declined to take action on permanently approving Essayli after his 120-day interim period. The Trump administrations legal maneuvers to keep him in his job have positioned him to serve as the districts lead prosecutor for at least an additional 210 days, the designated term for an acting U.S. attorney. In the Northern District of New York, John Sarcone was also transitioned from interim to acting U.S. attorney.Matt Finn contributed to this report.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 14 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMSen. Rand Paul favors the prospect of abolishing the Federal ReserveSen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., explained to Fox News Digital during an interview on Tuesday that he would support abolishing the Federal Reserve System, with the key proviso that the country stop engaging in deficit spending, and instead, run a balanced budget. But the fiscal hawk and son of former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, a famous Federal Reserve critic, says he does not anticipate that will happen."I see the opposite," he said, indicating that many in the GOP who previously cared "about deficits under Biden, seem to care less about deficits under Trump."SEN RAND PAUL: THERE ARE $186 BILLION REASONS WHY WE MUST AUDIT THE FED"I frankly think if Congress weren't running deficits you could do without a Fed," he said.Though he added that there would need to be a "clearinghouse" system, indicating that with the Fed out of the picture, the market would need to be allowed to "fill that space" over time.Paul believes that the free market supply and demand should dictate interest rates."Interest rates are a universal price," he explained, opining that they are likely "the most prolific price in all of the economy."TRUMP IS CONCERNED ABOUT HOW THE FED IS MANAGED MORE THAN ABOUT FIRING POWELL, SAYS DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFFThe last time the Federal Open Market Committee decided to decrease the target range for the federal funds rate was back in December, and President Donald Trump has been stridently calling for the Fed to move on rate cuts. But Paul compared rate-cut demands to insisting that meat is too expensive, and Trump should lower its price the senator pointed out that most people would view such a call as "nonsensical" as it pertains to consumer goods, "but for some reason even conservatives sort of lose their mind when it comes to interest rates," he said. The senator noted that he thinks "really what we want is a Federal Reserve that's less involved with manipulating interest rates."FEDS HAVE COMPLETELY TAKEN THEIR EYE OFF THE PRIZE, ECONOMIST SAYSPaul, who opined that there is likely "no more powerful and secretive organization in all of government," is pushing a bill to audit the Fed.The proposed legislation, which is also backed by some of Paul's GOP colleagues, calls for the Comptroller General of the U.S. to audit the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Reserve banks. He is also pushing a measure, which has been cosponsored by left-wing Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., titled the "End the Fed's Big Bank Bailout Act," which includes language stipulating, "No Federal Reserve Bank may pay earnings on balances maintained at a Federal Reserve Bank by or on behalf of a depository institution."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 14 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMamdani hints he feared customs hassle en route from Uganda vacation: 'Sad reality'During his first press conference since the mass shooting in New York City, Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani criticized President Donald Trumps immigration policies while saying he was prepared for problems with customs returning back to the U.S. from his African vacation.Speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon, two days after a deadly mass shooting killed four, including a police officer, Mamdani addressed questions about his wedding trip to his birthplace in Uganda.Mamdani said he "flew commercial economy both ways, and I did not have issues getting through customs, though I was prepared for the potential of those issues.""That is a sad reality of living in our presidents United States," Mamdani added.ZOHRAN MAMDANI DODGES QUESTIONS ON MASS SHOOTING AFTER RETURNING FROM AFRICA VACATIONAccording to Mamdani, after returning to New York City from Uganda, he traveled directly to visit the family of 36-year-old NYPD officer Didarul Islam, who was slain in the mass shooting. He said he had called the family in advance to "ask if that was something that I could do.""They welcomed me into their home. They refused to let me leave until I had breakfast with them," he said, adding, "They are an embodiment of so much of what makes this city the one that we love."Mamdani said he visited with the family for close to an hour. He highlighted how Islam and one of the other victims of the shooting, security guard Aland Etienne, were both immigrants."It is not lost upon me that both Officer Islam and Aland Etienne were immigrants who came to the city in the hopes of a better life, immigrants whose own sacrifices made it possible for their own family members to have better lives," he said.MAMDANI PAYS TRIBUTE TO VICTIMS OF NYC SHOOTINGOn Monday, a lone gunman, later identified as Shane Tamura, walked into a midtown Manhattan office building and opened fire, killing four people before turning the gun on himself. The four people killed in the shooting were identified as NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, security guard Aland Etienne and Julia Hyman, an associate at Rudin Management. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but the gunman reportedly had a grievance with the NFL, blaming football for his apparent issues with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a side effect from repeated hits to the head.Mamdani was on vacation for his wedding at the time of the shooting. After the tragedy, his previous criticisms of the NYPD and 2020 calls to defund the police came under renewed scrutiny. He also came under scrutiny for a more recent pledge to "disband" a special NYPD force known as the Strategic Response Group, which is responsible for riots, civil disorder and shootings. The press conference on Wednesday was the first opportunity for reporters to question Mamdani on these controversial statements.YANKEES HOLD MOMENT OF SILENCE BEFORE FIRST PITCH AGAINST RAYS IN HONOR OF FALLEN NYPD OFFICERIn response to a question about a 2020 post mocking a police officer for having a breakdown in his car, Mamdani said, "To be very clear, as I have been over the course of this campaign. I am not defunding the police. I'm not running to defund the police."He said the post"isout of step with the way in which I not only view police officers, the immense work that they do in this city, but also the seriousness with which we need to treat that work and the difficulties that come with that work."During the press conference, Mamdani also addressed threats that he has received since becoming a mayoral candidate."My life is sadly not the one that it was. There are far more threats," he said. "And with that comes precautions that I wish I didn't have to take. Though they are also precautions that I am immensely grateful for, especially in the example of the NYPD detail that I have here in New York City."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 13 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDeadliest NYC shooting in decades takes center stage in mayoral race as candidates spar on public safetyThe four candidates running to be the next mayor of New York City are reacting to the worst mass shooting in the city in a quarter-century as public safety and crime continue to be one of the most prevalent issues in the race."Officer Didarul Islam was one of four people killed in yesterdays horrific shooting," Mamdaniposted on X on Tuesday, a day after four people, including NYPD officer Islam, were gunned down by a Nevada man inside a high-rise office building on Park Avenue before the shooter took his own life in a crime that sent shockwaves though the city."A Bangladeshi immigrant who joined the NYPD four years ago, he lived in Parkchester with his pregnant wife, their two young children, and his elderly parents."Mamdanis post continued, "When he joined the police department, his mother asked him why he would pursue such a dangerous job. He told her it was to leave behind a legacy that his family could be proud of. He has done that, and more.UNEARTHED VIDEO EXPOSES MAMDANI'S 'UNABASHED' COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING ANTI-ISRAEL SANCTIONS AS LAWMAKER"I pray for him, his family, and honor the legacy of service and sacrifice he leaves behind."MAMDANI DODGES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THREATS TO NYPD IN FIRST PRESSER SINCE DEADLY MANHATTAN SHOOTINGMamdanis post faced backlash from some online who accused the mayoral candidate of giving lip service to the police given his previous calls to defund the police and a post where he said "nature is healing" in response to someone who said they saw a police officer crying in his car. Some also pointed to Mamdanis previouspledge to disbandthe New York Police Departments Strategic Response Group (SRG) which was a unit that responded to the midtown shooting."Come on, @ZohranKMamdani," Republican New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikovposted on X. "Spare us the BS."Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani for an interview but did not receive a response.During a Wednesday press conference, Mamdani offered comfort to the families of all the victims and attempted to distance himself from his previous calls to defund the police, saying that his "statements in 2020" were made out of "frustration" regarding the death of George Floyd."To the families of Aland and Officer Islam and to security guards and police officers across the city," Mamdani said. "I want to thank them for the work that they do each and every day."The 33-year-old democratic socialist returned to New York City on Wednesday from his wedding celebration in Uganda and immediately visited the home of the fallen NYPD officer, Didarul Islam, and then held a press conference with Islam's brother at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) headquarters in Manhattan.Mamdani continued, "Looking at the crisis of retention that we have in the city today, to try and pin it upon tweets from five years ago, as opposed to the conditions of this moment, is to ignore what officers themselves are saying.""When you ask officers why they leave, one of the leading causes they cite is forced overtime, an inability to have a quality of life when they know they are actually going to come home. These are the kinds of things that we have to address to ensure that not only can we keep the officers we have on the job, but that we can also deliver on public safety," Madamni said.Incumbent mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, a former NYPD officer, is campaigning for re-election as an Independent. In his official capacity as mayor, Adams was quick to the scene Monday evening, posting social media updates and holding news conferences to relay the latest information on the tragic incident to New Yorkers.Since the shooting, Adams has attended the dignified transfer of Islam, and a multi-faith prayer vigil to honor the four victims.MAMDANI SPARKS FIRESTORM WITH RESURFACED COMMENT ON ABOLISHING PRIVATE PROPERTY: 'HE'S A COMMUNIST'"We must continue to stand together every day to fight back against and prevent the senseless gun violence in our country," Adams shared on X.Adams revealed to Fox News' Martha MacCallum on "The Story" on Tuesday that the New York City gunman acquired part of his rifle from an associate."The lower part [of the rifle] we are finding out was purchased by an associate,"Adams said. The New York City mayor said there is a "mental health aspect" to Monday's shooting, and "we have to ensure that our laws are stronger.""Our laws must be clearer on identifying those with mental health issues," Adams said.Adams, who was unavailable for an interview before publication, clarified that "this incident did not unfold because of the lack of police personnel, it unfolded because a very dangerous person decided he was going to take the life of anyone he came in contact with."But Curtis Sliwa, the two-time Republican nominee for New York City mayor, told Fox News Digital that he believes understaffing played a role in the tragedy."My initial reaction is exactly the reaction that I had when, a year ago, we saw Luigi Mangione gun down that health care executive right in the midtown area as he waited for him at a nearby Starbucks across from the Hilton," Sliwa told Fox News Digital."The police were not patrolling the area. It used to be in areas like that of high traffic. Tourists and business people in Fortune 500 companies would have a foot patrol in a sector. They've eliminated that because we just don't have enough police."MAMDANI'S FORMER DEM COLLEAGUE RAILS AGAINST HIS SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN PROMISE: 'NAIL IN THE COFFIN'Sliwa dismissed calls for more gun control in the wake of the shooting and said instead what the city "desperately" needs is more police officers on the streets."We're down to 31,000 cops," Sliwa said. "We need to get them up to 40,000. And I'm the only candidate who is saying we need to hire immediately 7,000 trained professional police officers to be visible in the streets of New York."Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, running for mayor as an Independent after losing to Mamdani in the Democratic Primary, spoke to Fox News Digital by phone and criticized Mamdani's record on policing, including his previous call to disband the SRG."He said just a few months ago, he would disband the Strategic Response Group, which was the group that responds to first attacks and responded to this Park Avenue situation, and he's been very consistent, he said in the campaign defund the police," Cuomo said."He goes the next step, dismantle the police, right? But he has said the NYPD are racists, the police are a threat to public safety. So I have said that I think he's dangerous because he doesn't understand the need for public safety in this city."Cuomo told Fox News Digital that the shooting has the potential to shake up the mayoral race."Yes, it does, because New Yorkers have PTSD from 9/11 and from other horrific situations, and I think it's always in the back of every New Yorker's mind that all it takes is one mentally ill person with an assault weapon and that's TNT," Cuomo explained."That is a public safety stick of dynamite and, yeah, I think it brought that back. It's sort of back to reality, right? New York City, you're a target. You are a target, you're an international target for terrorists. You are the big stage for people who want to make a statement."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 13 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMHostage families blast UK and France for moves to recognize Palestinian stateFamilies of hostages held in Gaza, along with a freed captive, are blasting Britain, France and other nations for deciding to recognize a Palestinian state, warning that these steps reward Hamas terrorists while dozens of hostages remain trapped underground. The backlash came after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced Tuesday that his government will formally recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly in September unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire, allows U.N. aid and commits to a twostate solution.Emily Damari, a dual BritishIsraeli citizen who survived Hamas captivity, posted on X, "As a Dual British-Israeli citizen who survived 471 days in Hamas captivity, I am deeply saddened by your decision Keir Starmer to recognize Palestinian statehood. This move does not advance peaceit risks rewarding terror. It sends a dangerous message: that violence earns legitimacy.STARMER SAYS UK TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINIAN STATE IF ISRAEL DOESN'T AGREE TO CEASEFIRE, HAMAS MUST 'DISARM'"By legitimizing a state entity while Hamas still controls Gaza and continues its campaign of terror, you are not promoting a solution; you are prolonging the conflict. Recognition under these conditions emboldens extremists and undermines any hope for genuine peace. Shame on you," Damari wrote. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, representing relatives of people still held in Gaza, also slammed the announcements."Recently, we've seen an increase in initiatives calling for unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state all while 50 hostages have been held captive by Hamas for 663 days. Recognizing a Palestinian state while 50 hostages remain trapped in Hamas tunnels amounts to rewarding terrorism. Such recognition is not a step toward peace, but rather a clear violation of international law and a dangerous moral and political failure that legitimizes horrific war crimes."The abduction of men, women, and children, who are being held against their will in tunnels while subjected to starvation and physical and psychological abuse, cannot and should not serve as the foundation for establishing a state. If the international community truly desires peace, it must join U.S. efforts by demanding first the release of all hostages, followed by an end to the fighting."FROM GAZA TO GREENLAND, MACRON BREAKS WITH TRUMP ON GLOBAL FLASHPOINTSOn Tuesday, Starmer announced his intentions. "I can confirm that the U.K. will recognize the State of Palestine by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September, unless the Israeli government take substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza, agree to a ceasefire and commit to a long-term sustainable peace, reviving the prospect of a two-state solution."France announced a similar step last week. After those statements, ten more countries said they intend to follow: Malta confirmed it will, and Andorra, Australia, Canada, Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal and San Marino declared plans to move in that direction. Spain, Ireland, Norway and Belgium have also expressed support. The Netherlands, once considered one of Israels closest allies, has hardened its stance, threatening to remove Israel from an EU research program and barring Israeli ministers from entry.Speaking aboard Air Force One after meeting Starmer in Scotland, President Donald Trump didnt back the plan. "Essentially, they (the U.K. and France) are saying the same thing, and that's OK. But you know it doesn't mean I have to agree," he told reporters.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPVeteran U.S. diplomat Dennis Ross also weighed in on X, warning that recognition without clear benchmarks could backfire, posting "Recognizing a Palestinian state without conditions will perpetuate the conflict not end it. What conditions? Leaders credibly committed to coexistence/non-violence, no independent militias, no alliances with rejectionists, recognition of the historic Jewish ties to the land."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 15 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMNew tech-focused MAHA initiatives will usher in 'new era of convenience,' improve health outcomes, Trump saysPresident Donald Trump and several key health advisors in his Cabinet held a formal event Wednesday at the White House unveiling new efforts to improve healthcare technology and partnerships with private-sector technology companies. The "Make Health Tech Great Again" event laid out a new voluntary commitment from several major tech and tech-healthcare firms aimed at developing a better process for digital health record sharing, which Trump admin officials said would ultimately improve health outcomes for Americans. In addition to the commitment, the new health tech efforts will also include the development of personalized tools meant to help patients obtain greater control of their health information to make more informed decisions."For decades, America's healthcare networks have been overdue for a high-tech upgrade, and that's what we're doing. The existing systems are often slow, costly, and incompatible with one another," Trump said from the White House during the Wednesday afternoon event. "But with today's announcement, we take a major step to bring health care into the digital age, something that, is absolutely vital. We've got to do it. Moving from clipboards and fax machines into a new era of convenience, profitability and speed and, frankly, better health for people."MEDICAL GROUPS URGE KENNEDY, FDA TO REEXAMINE BROAD APPROVAL OF ABORTION DRUGSThe event announcing the Trump administration's plan to advance a "next-generation digital health ecosystem," was attended by representatives of companies, including Apple, Google, Samsung, Amazon, OpenAI, Anthropic, Epic, Oracle, Athena Health, and Noom, who will be participating in the voluntary pledge aimed at improving health record sharing. As part of the pledge, the companies will "voluntarily" share information with each other, according to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also present at the Wednesday event."For decades, bureaucrats and entrenched interests buried health data and blocked patients from taking control of their health," Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said in a statement Wednesday ahead of the event. "That ends today. Were tearing down digital walls, returning power to patients, and rebuilding a health system that serves the people. This is how we begin to Make America Healthy Again."The Trump administration is partnering with more than 60 companies to bolster how health information is shared electronically, including through the use of apps, and beef up the interoperability of health information networks, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).The apps aim to address issues including diabetes and obesity management, and provide beneficiaries with AI assistants to walk through symptoms, provide care options, and assist with scheduling appointments. Other functions that the technology aims to solve are providing digital check-ins to streamline services and cut down on paper intake forms.BIDEN-APPOINTED JUDGE HALTS TRUMP HHS OVERHAUL AFTER DEMOCRAT-LED LAWSUIT"It gives [patients] a sense of responsibility and allows them to measure the interventions if they change their diet, if they change their exercise, it can show you how many steps you took today, it can tell you if your glucose is spiking, and all of that information will now be available to American citizens," Kennedy said Wednesday. The White House event is a follow-up to the request for information notice that the CMS posted in May requesting information from stakeholders on ways to beef up health technology interoperability.Other technological advances on the health front include plans for CMS to launch an app library onMedicare.gov to best direct beneficiaries to the right digital health tools, according to CMS."The average Americans are tired. They're tired of waiting for a doctor's appointment. They're tired of waiting for the surprise of what your hospital bill is going to offer. That's being addressed," CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz added Wednesday."They're tired of waiting for access to their medical records. You own your medical records, they're yours. Why you can't have access to them is a stunning reality in modern-day America," Oz continued. "They're also tired of waiting for Washington to take action. And this president early on emphatically stated that wasn't going to happen anymore. And today we made that vision into a reality."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 31 Visualizações 0 Anterior
