WWW.FOXNEWS.COMScott Turner, HUD secretary and ex-Redskins player, backs Trump's pressure on Commanders to bring back monikerPresident Donald Trump received support from Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner amid the push for the Washington Commanders to ditch its current nickname in favor of the Redskins.Turner was an NFL defensive back for eight years. He played for the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos from 1995 to 2003 before he called it a career.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMHe wrote a message in reply to Trump on Sunday."I played in the NFL and was drafted by the Washington Redskins. Not the Washington Football Team or the Commanders," he wrote on X. "@POTUS is right. Its time to bring the Redskins name back."The Redskns selected Turner in the seventh round of the 1995 draft. He played three seasons in Washington. He had 106 tackles and five interceptions in his career.Trump put the blitz on the Commanders, and the Cleveland Guardians of MLB, on Sunday with two Truth Social posts."The Washington Whatevers should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this," Trump wrote first. "Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a storied past."Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them. Times are different now than they were three or four years ago. We are a Country of passion and common sense. OWNERS, GET IT DONE!!!"Then, he threatened to put the Commanders deal to take over the old RFK Stadium site in jeopardy if they didnt revert to the name.SUPER BOWL CHAMP SAYS HE'D ASK TRUMP TO HELP GET REDSKINS NICKNAME BACK"My statement on the Washington Redskins has totally blown up, but only in a very positive way," Trump wrote in a second Truth Social post. "I may put a restriction on them that if they dont change the name back to the original Washington Redskins, and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, Washington Commanders, I wont make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington. The Team would be much more valuable, and the Deal would be more exciting for everyone."Daniel Snyder changed Washingtons team name from the Washington Redskins to the Washington Football Team before the start of the 2020 season amid a summer of racial tensions. The team eventually became the Washington Commanders, and Snyder sold the team to Josh Harris.Fox News Digital reached out to the Commanders for comment. Harris has made clear he has no intention of changing the nickname again.Harris said on Fox News Channels"Special Report"in April that the team would not bring back the Redskins name even with plans to build a new stadium in Washington, D.C."The Commanders name actually has taken on an amazing kind of element in our building," Harris responded to Bret Baiers question about the Redskins name coming back as part of this new stadium deal. "So, the people that certain types of players that are tough, that love football, are delegated Commanders and Jayden [Daniels], for example, is a Commander, and they're ranked."And, you know, the business staff has gotten into it, and obviously, we're in a military city here. There's more military personnel than anywhere else, so we're kind of moving forward with the Commanders name, excited about that, and not looking back."Fox News Scott Thompson contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 51 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMKeith Olbermann pours cold water on claims Colbert was fired for political reasonsEx-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has weighed in on whether Stephen Colbert was canceled by CBS for political reasons, throwing cold water on the theory he was axed for his criticism of Trump."Sorry. That's not what happened here. If it had, they wouldn't be keeping him on until next MAY," Olbermann said in a post on X.CBS announced theyd canceled "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" Thursday, stating that the over 30-year-long franchise would come to an end in May 2026 with no subsequent host taking over following Colberts departure. The show was previously hosted by David Letterman from 1992-2015.DEMOCRATS FAWN OVER STEPHEN COLBERT FOR HOLDING 'TRUTH TO POWER' AFTER CBS CANCELS SHOWOlbermann authored the post in response to an X user who posted that Colberts firing was a sign that the United States had descended into fascism. "We are officially at the pulling comedians off the air who criticize our dear leader phase of fascism," the user posted over a picture of the late night host.Following the networks announcement of Colberts ouster, numerous left-wing politicians and journalists spoke out, alleging that the talk show host was fired for political reasons, speculating that axing Colbert a fierce critic of President Trump was an attempt to placate White House officials amid a pending merger between CBS parent company Paramount and Skydance."CBSs billionaire owners pay Trump $16 million to settle a bogus lawsuit while trying to sell the network to Skydance. Stephen Colbert, an extraordinary talent and the most popular late night host, slams the deal. Days later, he's fired. Do I think this is a coincidence? NO," Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders posted on X.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE"If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better," Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wroteon X.CBS settled with President Trump after he sued the network alleging election interference over a "60 Minutes" interview with his 2024 opponent former Vice President Kamala Harris which he alleged was deceptively edited. A clip from the interview, in which Harris was asked about the war in Gaza, was released on "Face the Nation" prior to the "60 Minutes" broadcast and featured the former VP delivering an answer that was widely derided as "word salad." When the interview was finally broadcast, a different, more concise response was swapped in its place.CBS, however, claimed that "The Late Shows" cancellation was due to financial reasons, saying the show lost some $40 million a year. Colbert is No. 1 in the late night timeslot among network talk show hosts (though he regularly comes behind Foxs Gutfeld), averaging around2.4 million viewers per episode. Overall viewership for late night talk shows has steadily declined in recent years, leading to a decrease in total ad revenues.Colbert was tapped to host the "Late Show" following Lettermans retirement after he hosted the widely acclaimed "Colbert Report" on Comedy Central. Upon taking the reins of the franchise, Colbert eschewed the well-known formula of hosting a show that appeals to the broadest swath of Americans, opting instead for a highly partisan, Trump-critical program.Fox News Digital has reached out to CBS for comment.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREWhen former President Joe Biden won the 2020 election, Colbert popped champagne on air and danced, proclaiming his joy in the election result."Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Biden did it! Keep trying to figure it out.""It's a lot of evil, corrupt people... that is the answer," Bell said. "There's no other answer. Do everything that they do to us mentally and emotionally, and then throw us to the wolves. And we're like, 'Okay, cool. I got rent this month.'"The sitcom, which also received TV films in addition to video games and books, is still popular with audiences, Bell said."There are three channels doing Drake & Josh marathons. Netflix just bought it, it's top 10 on Netflix, and I gotta figure out how to pay my rent this month," Bell said. "And some fat cat with a cigar is just sitting up at the top of Viacom... It's just like getting high on child labor."He continued, "We're putting in all of this work. This corporation is making billions with a 'B' off of us, and we're being compensated for the week of work, cool, but that's it. And forever, in perpetuity, it literally says in the contract, across universes and galaxies and planets."If Elon [Musk] gets us to Mars and they show Drake & Josh, it's impossible for me to get paid for it."Nickelodeon representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? WWW.FOXNEWS.COMTrump posts AI-generated video showing Obama getting arrested to 'YMCA'President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video of former President Barack Obama being arrested on Sunday, a nod to recent claims made by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. In the Truth Social post, Trump shared a TikTok video of various Democrats, including Obama, saying that "No one is above the law."Later in the 45-second AI-generated video, Trump and Obama are seen sitting in the Oval Office before Obama is arrested by agents as the song "YMCA" plays. The AI-generated version of Trump grins as Obama is apprehended and eventually thrown in a jail cell. The AI-generated Obama is also seen wearing an orange jumpsuit behind bars.OBAMA OFFICIALS ADMITTED THEY HAD NO 'EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE' OF TRUMP-RUSSIA COLLUSION: HOUSE INTEL TRANSCRIPTSThe video surfaced amid allegations from Gabbard that Obama and his intel chiefs manufactured the Russia collusion narrative."The implications of this are frankly nothing short of historic," Gabbard said on Fox News Channel's Sunday episode of "Sunday Morning Futures.""Over 100 documents that we released on Friday really detail and provide evidence of how this treasonous conspiracy was directed by President Obama just weeks before he was due to leave office after President Trump had already gotten elected," Gabbard claimed.WHITE HOUSE WANTS OBAMA INTEL OFFICIALS 'HELD ACCOUNTABLE' FOR ROLE PEDDLING 2016 RUSSIA HOAXGabbard also said that she planned to send the uncovered documents to the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) for a criminal referral.Documents shared by Gabbard's office claim that before the 2016 election, there was no evidence of collusion with Russia and that politically motivated actors distorted the narrative to harm Trump, not in response to new intelligence."Creating this piece of manufactured intelligence that claims that Russia had helped Donald Trump get elected contradicted every other assessment that had been made previously in the months leading up to the election that said exactly the opposite, that Russia had neither the intent nor the capability to try to hack the United States election," Gabbard told host Maria Bartiromo."So the effect of what President Obama and his senior national security team did was subvert the will of the American people, undermining our democratic republic and enacting what would be essentially a years-long coup against President Trump, who was duly elected by the American people," she added.Fox News Digital's Taylor Penley contributed to this report.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 39 مشاهدة 0 معاينة
