Longtime Joe Biden aide to appear under subpoena after Jill's 'work husband' pleads Fifth
Former Biden administration staffer Annie Tomasini is expected to appear before congressional investigators on Friday after being subpoenaed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.Tomasini, former Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for ex-President Joe Biden, was previously scheduled to appear for a voluntary transcribed interview on Friday.A committee aide told Fox News Digital earlier this week that Tomasini's counsel requested the subpoena, but did not say why. When she arrives for the 10 a.m. closed-door deposition on Friday, she will be the third ex-Biden administration aide to come under subpoena in Comer's probe in recent weeks.COMER DISMISSES BIDEN DOCTOR'S BID FOR PAUSE IN COVER-UP PROBE: 'THROWING OUT EVERY EXCUSE'Comer is investigating allegations thatFormer President Joe Biden's former top White House aidescovered up signs of his mental and physical decline while in office, and whether any executive actions were commissioned via autopen without the president's full knowledge. Biden allies have pushed back against those claims. In an interview with The New York Times on Thursday, Biden affirmed he "made every decision" on his own.Just before Tomasini, House investigators heard from Anthony Bernal, a longtime aide to ex-first lady Jill Biden.Bernal pleaded the Fifth Amendment on all questions about Biden and was out of the committee room less than an hour after going in.Lawmakers are largely not expected to attend the closed-door deposition, which is traditionally staff-led.Comer has been to several so far, and progressive firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, has made surprise appearances as well.CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios political correspondent Alex Thompson revealed in their book, "Original Sin," that Tomasini and Bernal "loaded a written Q&A into a prompter ahead of a local interview a document that the campaign had used in prep with Biden."Tomasini and Bernal brought out the teleprompter as his aides were trying to soften his blunders as Biden struggled to stay on message, according to the book. But the teleprompter fiasco became an easy attack line throughout Biden's re-election campaign, as President Donald Trump "weaved" through his myriad unscripted moments. The book described how Tomasini and Bernal grew closer to Biden during the pandemic, eventually becoming Joe and Jill Biden's most trusted aides.Tapper and Thompson describe the "intensely loyal" duo Tomasini and Bernal as taking on an "older-brother-and-little-sister vibe" among Biden's inner circle. FAR-LEFT FIREBRAND SAYS SHE 'NEVER HAD A CONCERN' ABOUT BIDEN'S MENTAL STATE AS HOUSE PROBE HEATS UPBernal and Tomasini later took on some of the residence staffers' roles in the White House. Tapper and Thompson said the aides "had all-time access to the living quarters, with their White House badges reading Res uncommon for such aides.""The significance of Bernal and Tomasini is the degree to which their rise in the Biden White House signaled the success of people whose allegiance was to the Biden family not to the presidency, not to the American people, not to the country, but to the Biden theology," the authors wrote.A source familiar with the Biden team's thinking called House Republicans' probe "dangerous" and "an attempt to smear and embarrass.""And their hope is for just one tiny inconsistency between witnesses to appear so that Trumps DOJ prosecute his political opponents and continue his campaign of revenge," the source said.

This infamous phrase was even criticized by celebrities like Bill Cosby, who, ironically enough, believed this animated character was a bad role model for children. The Simpsons rose to popularity in 1990, with the help of Barts catchphrase, and became Foxs first show to be ranked in the U.S.' Top 30.With unique characters like Sideshow Bob, Krusty the Clown, Ned Flanders and Bart Simpson, this series quickly became an American television classic.DAN GAINOR: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE ABSURD: JUNE'S WILDEST POLITICAL MOMENTS AND CELEBRITY MELTDOWNS1991Along with the rise of animated series, came "The Jerry Springer Show," "the most entertaining talk show ever," according to Fox News Julie Banderas."The Jerry Springer Show," first aired in September 1991, was an absolute hit with dramatic guests, outrageous stories and an abundance of unfiltered confrontation. This brutality horrified the nation and resulted in each LAPD officer being charged with excessive force. But, after the trial yielded four acquittals, riots plagued L.A., causing over three thousand fires, injuring more than two thousand people and killing 63."Can we all get along?" asked King, in response to the destruction and immense division.FOX NEWS PODCASTS CELEBRATE GREAT AMERICANS WITH NEW SERIES SHOWCASING HEROES AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY1993There's no question the Clinton Family seemed to shape a lot of the '90s. Although the infamous Monica Lewinsky scandal wasnt until 1998, '93 still remained a "cluster f**k and s**t show for the Clintons," according to political columnist and Fox News contributor Joe Concha. This year was plagued with ethical scandals. Bill Clinton's deputy White House counsel, Vince Foster, was found dead after committing suicide. This occurred during Travelgate which involved the politically motivated firing of travel office employees. These events only added to the prior Whitewater scandal outrage that took place during Clintons time as Arkansas governor.Yet, despite the chaos, "the Clintons danced through it all," said author and columnist Ellis Henican.1994On a quiet Thursday in 1994, Nirvana rockstar Kurt Cobain was found dead after allegedly committing suicide. Although he rose to stardom in the '90s, his music remains widely played in 2025.Many Americans can recall the exact moment they received word of Cobains death, with Fox News Kennedy sharing her experience at the MTV office, witnessing employees "openly sobbing.""He had only scratched the surface," said Fox Nations Tyrus of the gone-too-soon 27-year-old.1995The insanely popular and relied-upon website, Amazon.com, officially went live in 1995. Rural NPR stations disappointed, determined to survive after rescission package eliminates federal funding
Leaders of NPR member stations in rural America are "a bit sad" and "disappointed," but determined to continue to serve their communities despite their loss of federal funding.Congress is officially sending a package detailing $9 billion in spending cuts to President Donald Trumps desk after the House of Representatives passed the bill, called a "rescissions package," in a late-night vote on Thursday.Trump's multibillion-dollar clawback package teed up cuts to "woke" spending on foreign aid programs and NPR and PBS, as Republicans finally yanked federal money from public news outlets in a move advocates said was long overdue.NPR CEO WARNS STAFF 'TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF CHANGE' COMING IF FEDERAL FUNDING YANKEDTami Graham is the executive director of KSUT, an NPR member station located in the southwestern corner of Colorado that serves the rural Four Corners region. On October 1, KSUT will lose nearly 20% of its budget because of the rescission bill."So, for us, that's $330,000, and it's a pretty immediate turnaround we're having to do to try to fundraise so that we don't have to cut critical staff, programming, local news, et cetera. Those are the kind of decisions we're facing down right now," Graham told Fox News Digital.Graham said staffers were "somber and yet determined" upon arriving to work on Thursday, after the Senate approved Trumps rescission package and reality set in."We know how much our region supports us and values our hyperlocal service to them in emergency alerts, and local news and information about what's happening in the region," Graham said."It's heavy, it's a bit sad," she continued. "There's very much a determination of, We're going to get through this, our listeners value us, and our region values us, but it's not the kind of news that any of us want to be contemplating."KSUT is "not going anywhere," Graham stressed, noting that rural areas that rely on public media because of spotty cell service, broadband and internet will significantly feel the impact of the rescission bill.NYT DRAWS PARALLELS BETWEEN CALLS TO DEFUND NPR AND DEFUND THE POLICE MOVEMENTTrump's rescissions package includes $8 billion in cuts from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and over $1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the government-backed funding arm for NPR and PBS."We get a larger percentage of support from CPB than major market stations because we're rural, because we are serving news deserts, because we don't have the ability to fundraise from our listenership in the way that cities, major markets do," Graham said."It'll have minimal impact on NPR," Graham said. "But it's a huge impact on rural America and the news and information and emergency alerts they receive."Shawn Turner, who serves as WKAR Public Media general manager and also sits on NPRs Board of Directors, oversees the member station that serves eight counties across mid-Michigan that include several "news deserts.""The loss of federal funding will significantly impact our ability to have our reporters get out to those communities, go to community meetings, talk to people in those communities, go to events to be able to report on what's happening in those communities," Turner told Fox News Digital."We'll be relying more on part-time reporters, volunteers, where we can over time, but the quality of the reporting will be impacted," he added. "People across Michigan will not have access to local news and information from their NPR station like they've had in the past."NPR HEARING PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON FUNDING DEBATE AND PAST COVERAGE, FROM HUNTER BIDEN'S LAPTOP TO COVID ORIGINSTurner said there was "disappointment" inside WKAR on the heels of the funding cut."People are feeling like the commitment they've made to serve their community has just taken a hit. And that simply does not feel good for any of the people who have committed their life to this work," he said. While staffers were frustrated, Turner said he was heartened by the degree to which mid-Michiganders worked to ensure that their voices were heard. He said thousands of phone calls and letters reached members of Congress imploring lawmakers to understand that communities need public media.Much like KSUT, Turner wants Americans to know that WKAR will not simply fold, and that member stations will attempt to adapt. He explained that some of the services WKAR provides, such as a radio reading service for the visually impaired and educational services, will be reduced but will remain in some capacity for as long as possible."We're adjusting the way that we serve our community, but it will be more difficult," Turner said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURENPR and PBS have long been lambasted by Trump and other Republicans as left-leaning institutions that don't deserve taxpayer money. Whistleblower Uri Berliner, a longtime editor at NPR, laid out in painful detail the liberal bias gripping public radio on a national level last year. The President is expected to sign the spending cut bill on Friday.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital's Elizabeth Elkind and Alex Miller contributed to this report.

Feds' California Home Depot raid nabs 11 illegal migrants, one with 67 prior jail bookings
Despite pushback from California officials to federal immigration enforcement, Border Patrol in Sacramento arrested 11 illegal migrants during a tense raid at a Home Depot parking lot on Thursday including one man with 67 prior jail bookings in California since 1986 and a prior fentanyl trafficking conviction.Fox News was on scene as the migrants scattered in all directions when federal agents moved in to make arrests in the sanctuary city. That triggered multiple foot chases and several physical encounters between masked agents and fleeing migrants.DHS ARRESTS 'WORST OF THE WORST' MIGRANTS IN LA DESPITE RIOTERS, POLS PUSHING BACKIn one foot pursuit, agents chased a man who they say slashed the tire of a law enforcement vehicle. The man claimed to be a U.S. citizen.Agents eventually maced the man in the face before arresting him and taking him into custody. His wife shouted at agents throughout the incident, insisting he is a U.S. citizen.Border Patrol agents were forced to drive the damaged vehicle away on its rims.Gregory Bovino, U.S. Border Patrol chief for the El Centro Sector, said his agency will continue prioritizing the removal of criminal illegal immigrants.TWICE-DEPORTED MIGRANT RAPIST FREED AS DEMS FACE HEAT FOR SANCTUARY POLICIES"There is no sanctuary city, Sacramento is not a sanctuary city, the state of California is not a sanctuary state, there is no sanctuary anywhere," Bovino said. "Well be here, youll probably see us in many other locations as well. Were here to stay, were not going anywhere. Were going to effect this mission and secure the homeland."The migrant with 67 prior jail bookings is Mexican national Javier Dimas-Alcantara, who is an aggravated felon with convictions and charges spanning decades. His criminal history includes multiple instances of transporting and selling narcotics or controlled substances, felony burglary, possession of a controlled narcotic with intent to sell, carrying a loaded firearm in public and multiple felony-level marijuana possession charges for sale. He's also been arrested for illegal entry, revocation of probation due to reoffending, multiple instances of providing false identification to law enforcement, multiple cases of narcotic possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance.DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin slammed the defenders of sanctuary policies."Dimas has been convicted of a myriad of offenses you would not want this man to be your neighbor and yet politicians like [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom defend criminals who terrorize American communities and demonize law enforcement who defend those same communities," McLaughlin said."He and every other sanctuary politician should be thanking CBP for getting this scum out of American communities instead of obstructing federal law enforcement at every possible turn."McLaughlin said that the Trump administration has been given a clear mandate by the American people to get violent illegal aliens off the streets and out of the country. The other apprehended migrants included a previously deported Guatemalan aggravated felon and a previously deported Mexican migrant with a prior arrest for driving without a license.Another detainee is a Guatemalan migrant who had a voluntary return removal in 2009 with prior arrests for trespassing and failure to provide ID.Their names have not been released yet.

Regional powers clash after Israel targets Syrian territory in defense of vulnerable Druze civilians
Israels military strikes in Syria this week launched in response to atrocities against the Druze minority represent a strategic turning point in a deeper power struggle that now entangles Iran, Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the U.S., according to regional analysts.Just days ago, speculation swirled about a potential normalization agreement between Israel and Syria a breakthrough quietly brokered by U.S. officials, but that fragile prospect has been swiftly overtaken by violence, as Israeli airstrikes this week struck near Damascus.A ceasefire agreement between Druze factions and the Syrian government, announced July 16, was meant to calm days of deadly clashes, but it remains tenuous and largely unenforced, with sporadic fighting continuing and tensions running high.WHY SYRIA PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN TRUMPS PLANS FOR MIDDLE EAST PEACE"For the Druze in Israel, whats happening in southern Syria feels like October 7 all over again," said Avner Golov, vice president of the Israeli think tank Mind Israel. "Israel can no longer treat Syria as just a neighboring crisis. Its now a domestic one."In a rare scene, Israeli Druze citizens crossed the border into Syria to support their embattled relatives prompting a stern warning from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."My Druze brothers, citizens of Israel... Do not cross the border," Netanyahu said. "You are putting your lives at risk you could be killed, you could be kidnapped and you are harming the IDFs efforts. Let the IDF do its job."In his first televised address since the Israeli strikes, Syrian transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa framed the Israeli intervention as a destabilizing act."Government forces deployed to Suweida succeeded in restoring stability and expelling outlawed factions despite the Israeli interventions," he said, warning that the strikes led to "a significant complication of the situation" and "a large-scale escalation." He insisted that protecting the countrys Druze minority was a top priority and declared that Syrians "are not afraid of war."Within Israel, the collapse of order in Syria has triggered sharp debate. Some policymakers argue for supporting Sharaa as an anti-Iranian strongman, while others advocate broader military action to create a buffer zone in southern Syria. Golov supports a middle course: conditional strikes paired with demands for Druze autonomy and accountability for war crimes."If Sharaa shows hes willing to punish those responsible for the massacre and agree to Druze autonomy, then Israel can gradually work with him," Golov told Fox News Digital.TRUMPS PUSH FOR ISRAEL-SYRIA PEACE GETS MAJOR BACKING AS ACTIVIST BRINGS MESSAGE TO JERUSALEMHe also called for a regional diplomatic effort to stabilize Syria. "We need a regional summit the U.S., Saudi Arabia, even Turkey, and Israel" he said. "Bring positive forces into Syria and use Israeli military power not just tactically, but to gain diplomatic leverage.""Theres a temptation to miss the victory lap," said Behnam Taleblu, senior director of the Iran Program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD). "Rather than see Syria through the prism of competition with Turkey, Israel should first see it through the prism of diminished competition with Iran. That in itself is a huge achievement."While Irans position has weakened, Turkey has quietly expanded its footprint in Syria by backing the al-Sharaa government.Turkeys strategic interest in Syria, Sinan Ciddi, a senior fellow at FDD anddirectoroftheTurkeyprogram, explained, is to fill the vacuum left by Iran with its own political and economic influence using al-Sharaa regime as a conduit. "Turkey has a lot riding on al-Sharaa success," he said. "Theyd like to see increased trade, the reconstruction of Syria through al-Sharaa. They want to use him as a means to influence the region politically."However, Israels military response has triggered alarm in Ankara."Turkey is not in a position to militarily challenge Israel it would be a disaster," said Ciddi. "Theyre talking tough, but theyre deeply concerned."Ciddi emphasized that Turkey's aging military hardware and lack of air defense leave it highly exposed. Yet, Turkey is deeply invested in al-Sharaa political survival, hoping to leverage him for influence and economic ties in post-war Syria.A direct clash between Turkey and Israel, Ciddi warned, would "result in a diplomatic fiasco... and require the United States and European countries to step in as mediator."WHO ARE THE DRUZE? RELIGIOUS GROUP AIDS SYRIAN MEMBERS UNDER ISLAMIST ATTACK, ISRAELI MEMBERS OFFER SUPPORTEven as Israel dismantled key parts of Irans military infrastructure in Syria, Tehran remains a long-term threat. Taleblu said Iran is now lying in wait ready to exploit missteps by others."This is a regime that capitalizes on the mistakes of others," he said. "They dont need to win outright they just need everyone else to lose."Tehran is betting that the regions rival powers Turkey, Israel, the U.S. and the Gulf will overplay their hands, allowing Iran to reenter through proxies, sectarian militias, or diplomatic manipulation.Though President Trump recently said Syrias internal affairs are "not our war," his administrations tone has shifted. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for de-escalation, and regional partners are urging a clearer U.S. role."Real success will come from creating contingencies," Taleblu said. "What are the costs if Syria collapses? What if Turkey overreaches, or Israel overextends? What if Iran comes back? The states that prepare for these questions."

Catholic bishops call mandatory reporting law 'brazen act of religious discrimination'
Roman Catholic figures and the U.S. Justice Department are fighting to block enforcement of a law passed by the state legislature and signed by Democratic Gov. Bob Ferguson (D) that would add clergy members to the list of people required to report child abuse and neglect the point of contention surrounds information Catholic clergy learn from people during private confessions.Implementation of Washington's controversial law looms large this month, as it is slated to take effect on July 27.Current law which does not include clergy among the categories of people who are required to report child abuse notes that people at a nonprofit or for-profit organization must report child abuse or neglect by an individual they supervise if that individual regularly has unsupervised access to kids in their role at the organization. But there is a carveout stipulating that reporting is not required when the information is fully obtained via privileged communication.CATHOLIC BISHOPS VOW TO RESIST BLUE STATE LAW INTRUDING ON SACRED TRUST: OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MENThe new law includes that same language, but the carveout is preceded by the words, "Except for members of the clergy," indicating that the carveout does not apply to them. The initial complaint in May from plaintiffs including Roman Catholic Archbishop of Seattle Paul D. Etienne and multiple other Catholic clergy members, asserted that "Washington is targeting the Roman Catholic Church in a brazen act of religious discrimination."A motion for preliminary injunction filed in June declared, "Plaintiffs respectfully request that this Court issue a preliminary injunction blocking the investigation and enforcement of RCW 26.44.030, as amended by Senate Bill 3575, to the extent it applies to information learned by Catholic clergy through the Sacrament of Confession."CATHOLIC CHURCH TO EXCOMMUNICATE PRIESTS FOR FOLLOWING WA LAW REQUIRING CHILD ABUSE CONFESSIONS TO BE REPORTEDThe U.S. Justice Department has also taken aim at the state's new law regarding the issue of confessions."Senate Bill 5375 unconstitutionally forces Catholic priests in Washington to choose between their obligations to the Catholic Church and their penitents or face criminal consequences, while treating the priest-penitent privilege differently than other well-settled privileges.
