WWW.FOXNEWS.COMLA mayor joins controversial lawsuit to block Trumps immigration enforcement measuresLos Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Tuesday announced that her city will be joining the class-action lawsuit to stop what she says is "the unconstitutional reckless raids in the LA region."Bass said Los Angeles was joining the lawsuit because the Trump administration is treating the city "as a test case for how far it can go in driving its political agenda forward while pushing the Constitution aside.""The City of Los Angeles, along with the County, cities, organizations and Angelenos across L.A., is taking the Administration to court to stop its clear violation of the United States Constitution and federal law," Bass said in a press release. "We will not be intimidated we are making Los Angeles the example of how people who believe in American values will stand together and stand united."LA MAYOR RIPPED FOR INTERFERING WITH ICE RAID AT CRIME-RIDDEN LOCAL PARK: 'FULL OF S---'Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto said the lawsuit is intended to send a message to the Trump administration that the city will not allow the raids to become "standard operating procedure.""The federal government has concentrated thousands of armed immigration agents, many of whom lack visible identification, and military troops in our communities, conducting unconstitutional raids, roundups and anonymous detentions, sowing fear and chaos among our residents," said Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto. "Todays motion to intervene shows we will not stand by and allow these raids to continue or to become the standard operating procedure in our communities."A coalition of individual immigrants andimmigrant advocacyorganizations, led by The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of California and the non-profit Public Counsel, filed the original class-action lawsuit "Vasquez Perdomo v. Noem,"against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) demanding an immediate halt to what it describes as unlawful immigration raids across the Los Angeles area targeting migrants with "brown skin."The non-profit accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of carrying out unconstitutional raids and then keeping migrants in inhumane conditions without beds and deprived of food and legal counsel.Homeland Securityhas denied all the claims in the lawsuit, saying that any accusations of racial profiling are "disgusting and categorically false."ACLU SUES TO BLOCK ICE RAIDS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, ALLEGING CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONSThe lawsuit also asks those who are now being held in overcrowded "dungeon-like" facilities to get access to counsel, especially where the conditions are deplorable and unconstitutional. The announcement comes on the heels of federal agents marching through Los Angeles' MacArthur Park and militarized vehicles being deployed to the streets that Bass said were filled with children attending a summer camp. The release from Basss office suggested that the actions were for the "seemingly sole purpose of bringing fear to Los Angeles."CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPBass said she and other elected officials will not accept the presence of federalized troops and military-style vehicles on their streets and will use every resource available to bring an end to what she characterized as "reckless raids."0 Comments 0 Shares 66 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDiddy juror points to where defense poked holes in prosecutions case to get racketeering acquittalA jury of his peers found rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs not guilty of the most serious charges he had been facing on July 2.On that day, the jury told the courtroom the government had not proven the disgraced music mogul participated in a racketeering conspiracy or sex trafficking. However, Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. An alternate juror, who presented his badge to Fox News Digital for confirmation, explained where Diddy's defense had "poked holes" in the prosecution's case."I mean, there were always moments where there was, you know, when the defense really was able to get in," the juror told Fox News Digital. "I mean one that really stood out for me I even wrote it in my notes, was the cross-examination of Dawn Richard. But Miss Westmoreland, you know, her cross-examination of her, and even Bana. I mean she definitely poked holes. I think that's why they had her do that, but just to see how she did it, it really was something just to behold."DIDDY COULD FACE SUBSTANTIAL PRISON TIME AFTER GUILTY VERDICT, WARNS OJ SIMPSON'S LAWYERFormer Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard testified that she told Diddy's ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, to leave the rapper after witnessing him physically assault the musician. Diddy and Richard were in the recording studio when he allegedly said that what was witnessed the day before was "passion" and what people in relationships do. He claimed Cassie was OK and that it was best if they didn't say anything. The rapper allegedly said that where he's from, people go missing. Richard heard his words to mean that people end up dead.Diddy's attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, brought up inconsistencies in Richard's multiple interviews with prosecutors. The defense attorney also highlighted the fact that the singer hadn't disclosed Diddy's alleged threat against her life until a week before the trial."It was a death threat that you didnt recall on seven different occasions?" Westmoreland questioned.Diddy's defense also intensely cross-examined Bryana Bongolan, a friend of Cassie. Bongolan, who sometimes went by the nickname "Bana," testified that Diddy dangled her off the ledge of a 17-story balcony. During cross-examination, Westmoreland was able to get Bana to admit she couldn't remember details of the alleged incident.WATCH: DIDDY'S DEFENSE POKED HOLES IN PROSECUTION'S WITNESS TESTIMONY, ALTERNATE JUROR SAYSDIDDY JUDGE RULES RAPPER MUST REMAIN BEHIND BARS AS HE AWAITS SENTENCINGThe alternate juror, who listened to seven weeks of testimony but did not participate directly in deliberations, did note that he would have "reached the same conclusion that the jurors had made" on the racketeering charge. He also praised both sides for being "at the top of their game" in the Southern District of New York, describing the SDNY as the "top district" and "the place for trials.""It was really like a movie," the juror said. "Just as a witness who's never been, you know, who's never been really in the court, never been a juror never followed the courts or never done any of this stuff, just to be there and watch that and how they conducted themselves was very memorable."WATCH: DIDDY DODGED A BULLET BEATING RICO CHARGE IN SEX TRAFFICKING TRIAL, EXPERT SAYSDiddy was "always very engaged" throughout the trial, according to the juror."You could tell that he was fighting the whole time. He was always writing notes whenever there was a cross-examination. He was taking notes, giving them to the lawyer. So, I found that to just be all very interesting."The rapper's presence never "intimidated" the alternate juror, who said he'd never seen Diddy or followed his music."So, just to see him in person every day with his white hair was completely different than anything I ever saw," he told Fox News Digital. "So it was definitely memorable in that way. But I never felt intimidated or looked at him as a celebrity in any way to impact impartiality. I was just sitting and just listening to all the evidence that was presented."LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSJudge Arun Subramanian set Diddy's sentencing hearing for Oct. 3. He could face up to 20 years behind bars, 10 years for each count of transportation to engage in prostitution. The alternate juror explained he just hopes Diddy gets the help he needs."I do think that when they had the opening arguments, they basically presented Diddy as a very flawed individual a drug addict, a sex addict, a person that has many flaws," the juror recalled. "So I think whatever sentence he's given I hope that he just gets the help that he needs. If he's in prison, I hope he can get the help that he needs."He added: "I just hope that he takes that time to just reflect and get the help that he needs."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERAccording to Diddy's defense lawyer, the disgraced music mogul will reenter a program for domestic batterers after he is freed. He had begun the program shortly before his arrest in September 2024."Hes doing OK," Marc Agnifilo told The Associated Press. He claimed Diddy genuinely desires improvement and "realizes he has flaws like everyone else that he never worked on.""He burns hot in all matters. I think what he has come to see is that he has these flaws and theres no amount of fame and no amount of fortune that can erase them," he said. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMAOC-backed socialist mayoral candidate backtracks after calling to 'dismantle' police in 2020Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani propelled himself to a stunning upset victory inNew York City'sDemocratic primary, as his record on policing has become a focal point of scrutiny.Fraternal Order of Police National Vice President Joe Gamaldi told Fox News Digital that Mamdanis past rhetoric is emblematic of a dangerously radical ideology."Anyone who still supports defunding the police is completely insane," Gamaldi said. "Especially after seeing the horrific consequences on our urban communities. It brought on rampant crime and disorder, historic murder rates in over a dozen cities and destroyed the quality of life for millions."Criticism of Mamdanis past statements on the Defund the Police movement has come from both Republicans and Democrats after his earlier comments resurfaced.CITY-RUN GROCERY STORES, DEFUNDING POLICE, SAFE INJECTION SITES: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT NYC'S NEXT POTENTIAL MAYORIn 2020, amid nationwide Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, Mamdani publicly referred to the New York Police Department as "wicked and corrupt," calling for its defunding and dismantlement. In one Dec. 2020 viral tweet, he declared, "There is no negotiating with an institution this wicked & corrupt. Defund it. Dismantle it. End the cycle of violence."He also linked LGBTQ+ liberation to police abolition, asserting in a Nov. 2020 tweet, that "queer liberation means defund the police."Now, as Mamdani eyes the mayoralty, his public safety message appears to be shifting. He has backed away from some of his earlier rhetoric, acknowledging the importance of police in addressing violent crime."I will not defund the police. I will work with the police because I believe the police have a critical role to play in creating public safety," he said in the second New York City Democratic mayoral debate on June 13. "Sixty-five percent of crimes from the first quarter of this year are still not solved. We need to ensure that police can focus on those crimes, and [that] we have mental health professionals and social workers to address and tackle and resolve the mental health crisis and homelessness."MAMDANI'S POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE ROCKS DEMOCRATSHis current platform includes the creation of a Department of Community Safety to handle non-violent incidents that he believes would get to the root cause of crime. Mamdani's public safety plan includes reallocating $600 million from existing programs and raising taxes on wealthy New Yorkers to fund the new department. He has also spoken about reducing police overtime and cutting the NYPD's $80 million communications budget.Gamaldi said that Mamdani's comment on policing is little more than political posturing, saying that he embraces "this failed social experiment.""I find it funny, because the very people Mamdani purports to care about lower income, disenfranchised are the very people who were impacted the most by defunding police departments," he said. "Truth is, he is a radical ideologue more concerned with pushing his far-left agenda than the safety of New Yorkers or the brave men and women of the NYPD."With a cost-of-living-focused platform, a volunteer-powered campaign, and a savvy social media presence, Mamdani has rapidly vaulted into the frontrunner position in New York City's mayoral race.Endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and buoyed by grassroots enthusiasm, the 33-year-old assemblymember has captured the imagination of a younger, more progressive electorate. If elected, Mamdani would become the city's youngest mayor in over a century, surpassing even John Purroy Mitchel, who briefly held the office in 1917 at the age of 37.0 Comments 0 Shares 43 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMBryan Kohberger traded death penalty for life sentence that could still end violently behind barsBryan Kohberger admitted to killing four University of Idaho students to avoid the death penalty, but his life could still be in danger, according to a former prison pastor who is in touch with convicts around the country.Kohberger, 30, was a criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University when he snuck into a home 10 miles away and butchered Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, in a 4 a.m. knife attack. Some of them were asleep. The motive remains a mystery. He left behind a Ka-Bar knife sheath with his DNA on it.In exchange for his plea, he avoids the potential of facing a firing squad and instead gave up his right to appeal or seek a reduced sentence on four consecutive life prison terms without parole, plus another 10 years.READ BRYAN KOHBERGER'S SIGNED KILLER CONFESSION"He's going to have a target on his back as soon as he walks in the door in general population," said Keith Rovere, a former prison pastor who is now the host of the Lighter Side of Serial Killers podcast, in which he interviews a sampling of the nation's most notorious murderers and other convicts."Those who are doing life have nothing to lose," Rovere told Fox News Digital. "The badge of honor they would receive will get them much notoriety and respect in the prison and probably get them countless letters from the outside world which could mean more money for them that people donate $5 here or $10 there for their commissary... Funny how notoriety will get you killed and how notoriety will get you respect in the same prison."BRYAN KOHBERGER PLEADS GUILTY TO IDAHO MURDERSAccording to Kohberger's own lawyers, he is noticeably awkward. A psychiatrist hired by the defense diagnosed him with autism spectrum disorder, finding he has "poor insight into his role in relationships," a sense of humor and speaks in canned phrases. His former boxing coach revealed last week that he never actually sparred in the gym and only showed up after his father, Michael Kohberger, brought him there to boost his confidence."The convicts are going to eat him up in Idaho state prison," said Seth Ferranti, a former prisoner and now a documentary and film director whose most recent work is "A Tortured Mind," which explores post-prison psychology.IDAHO MURDERS TIMELINE: BRYAN KOHBERGER PLEA CAPS YEARSLONG QUEST FOR JUSTICE"Hell probably get protective custody, because of the high-profile case," he told Fox News Digital. "But killers dont respect people who kill kids or students. He will get attacked even in protective custody, and some lifer might just end his miserable existence."Death row could be a more comfortable option, said Rovere the former prison pastor, at least while it lasts.DEREK CHAUVIN DEAD MAN WALKING EVEN BEFORE THANKSGIVING STABBING: FORMER PRISON MINISTER"He would have been away from general population and much safer and more than likelydie of natural causes in prison rather than the state putting him to death, with all the appeals," he said.According to the Idaho Department of Corrections, inmates who either pose a higher risk to other inmates or who are "especially vulnerable" can be housed with higher security.FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON XRon McAndrew, a longtime Florida prison warden who for a period oversaw the "Gainesville Ripper" serial killer Danny Rolling, said prison officials could place Kohberger in isolation, have him escorted around by extra guards or take other increased security measures while he is in custody."Some inmates, especially those that are vicious or have mental problems, see killing someone like this as a status symbol," McAndrew told Fox News Digital. "Especially if they're already on death row, and they kill another inmate, what are you going to do?"Rolling, like Kohberger and fellow serial killer Ted Bundy, killed multiple college students.GET REAL-TIME UPDATES AT THE FOX NEWS TRUE CRIME HUBMcAndrew took part in a half-dozen executions, including a botched one that turned him against them. He is now a board member of Death Penalty Action, a nonprofit that opposes capital punishment.SIGN UP TO GET THE TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTERHe said that Kohberger will have to work between 40 and 60 hours a week at a prison job while serving life without parole, as opposed to "getting room service three times a day" on death row while lazing away in protective custody."To sentence someone to prison for life without the possibility of parole means that they'll be making a contribution for the rest of their lives as a worker at that prison," he said. "If he was on death row, that would not be the case. He would, in fact, be a burden on the prison, a burden on taxpayers, and waiting for a date to be executed some 25 or 30 years later."Rovere suggested Kohberger might be better off seeking a transfer to a prison in another state. While Idaho has fewer violent inmates than places like California, Texas and New York, prisoners there could have potential ties to the Pennsylvania man's victims."You also have to take account of how many friends and family members of the victims might have a friend in there," he said. "Or a friend of a friend of a friend, who they can reach out to and make sure he's taken care of or at least beaten very badly."0 Comments 0 Shares 43 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMUtah Bath & Body Works manager says she was fired over company's pronoun policyA former Bath & Body Works store manager in Layton, Utah, said she was fired after refusing to address a transgender employee by their preferred pronouns.Jocelyn Boden filed a charge of discrimination last week with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after she was terminated in May from the company she had worked at for three and a half years.Boden, a "devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," said in her charge that she was "chastised and alienated" by co-workers after she was unwilling to address a new transgender employee by their preferred pronouns. Boden said she addressed the biological female co-worker, who identified as male, by their chosen name, but because of her religious convictions, could not address the co-worker by male pronouns."Ultimately, team members complained about Ms. Bodens religiously motivated decision to the human resources department," the filing states. "This complaint led to an interrogation into Ms. Bodens use of pronouns. Ms. Boden indicated her religious objection to Bath & Body Works pronoun policy, including during a discussion with her district manager just two days before the district manager terminated Ms. Bodens employment."WISCONSIN SKI PARK FACES LAWSUIT AFTER ALLEGEDLY FIRING EMPLOYEE FOR SHARING BIBLE VERSES ON SOCIAL MEDIABoden was promptly fired after these complaints were filed, without warning and in violation of the companys discipline policy, according to the filing.According to documents in the filing, the company discharged Boden for violating their code of conduct, "which prohibits any unwanted conduct directed at an individual based on their sex, which includes sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or transgender status.""Jocelyn admitted to this behavior and shared with multiple parties that she refused to use correct pronouns. As a result of this investigation, and her admittance, we are making the decision to part ways and end their employment effective immediately," her alleged termination notice states. The discrimination charge was filed by Texas-based legal group, First Liberty, a group that fights religious liberty cases.IOWA MAN REPORTEDLY FIRED FOR WEARING BIBLE VERSE T-SHIRTS DURING PRIDE MONTH SETTLES LAWSUITFirst Liberty claims Bath & Body Works' conduct violated Bodens religious rights under Title VII, which prohibits employment discrimination based on protected characteristics such as race and sex. It also alleged the company violated the Utah Anti-discrimination Act when it "retaliated" against Boden for expressing her religious beliefs, failed to grant her a religious accommodation, perpetuated a "hostile work environment" and "wrongfully" terminated her employment."I believe that using pronouns out of line with this understanding of gender is dishonest," Boden said in the filing to the EEOC. "My convictions do not allow me to lie by affirming a reality I believe is false. Therefore, I cannot refer to a female using male pronouns."Most workplace discrimination claims have to be processed through the EEOC before they can be resolved in court, Stephanie Taub, senior counsel for First Liberty, told CBN News.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe EEOC told Fox News Digital it was prohibited by law from commenting on alleged charges filed.A Bath & Body Works spokesperson told Fox News Digital, "Bath & Body Works complies with all laws concerning employment practices.
