Russian minister found dead hours after Putin fired him
Russias transport minister, who also previously served as governor of the Kursk region ahead of Ukraines 2024 incursion, was found dead just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin fired him from his ministerial role.Roman Starovoyt, 53,was found dead from a gunshot wound in his car, and Russia's Investigative Committee Moscows chief criminal investigation agency said it was looking into the circumstances surrounding his death, including suicide, according to multiple reports.Starovoyt oversaw the Kursk region for more than half a decade before he was made Transport Minister in May 2024.ZELENSKYY TOUTS 'FRUITFUL' TRUMP CALL AFTER US PRESIDENT WAS 'DISAPPOINTED' BY PUTIN TALKUkraines invasion of Kursk which ended earlier this year not only shocked the international community with Moscows inability to immediately stop the incursion but prompted Russia to look towards allied nations like North Korea to send in additional boots on the ground. The incident also garnered a swift rebuke from Putin and led to the arrest of at least two officials who were accused of embezzling funds that should have allegedly been used towards securing the border with Ukraine, reported Reuters in April.PUTIN REBUFFS TRUMP IN CALL, VOWS TO PRESS ON WITH UKRAINE WARSome reporting suggested that Starovoyt was aware his time as transport minister was likely to be cut short soon, though a report by East2West also noted that he left his office without saying goodbye to any of his colleagues."According to the source, he guessed about his upcoming dismissal, but found out only this morning," the media outlet said. "At 9:15am, the news about the president's order appeared."By 9:35 a.m. Starovoyt had apparently ordered his secretary to leave and then locked himself in his office. He then left the building around 10 a.m.The Kremlin confirmed he was fired from the top job before it was revealed that Starovoyt was dead after his girlfriend, Polina Korneeva, 25, allegedly found him dead in an affluent neighborhood outside of Moscow.Kremlin spokespersonDmitry Peskovdismissed questions over whether Starovoyt had been terminated from his position over a loss of confidence, reported Russian news outlets.

Judge Xinis grills Trump lawyers over plans to deport Abrego Garcia in high-profile hearing
Justice Department officials told a federal judge that they plan to begin removal proceedings to deport Salvadorian migrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a third country as early as this month just one extraordinary admission of many heard by U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis in a wide-ranging, hours-long hearing on Monday that ended with little in the way of satisfactory answers for all parties.Xinis ordered the Trump administration to produce a government official to testify under oath Thursday about plans to take Abrego Garcia into ICE custody upon his release from criminal custody in Tennessee and begin deportation proceedings to a third country.Lawyers for the Trump administration ultimately conceded Monday that Abrego Garcia could be removed from the U.S. as early as July 16 just nine days from today. The admission capped a remarkable day in court, and a frustrating one, which Xinis described as akin to "trying to nail Jell-O to a wall," as she attempted to ascertain the government's next steps. She repeatedly questioned how officials could pursue immediate deportation while simultaneously mounting a federal criminal case against Abrego Garcia.OBAMA-APPOINTED JUDGE TO RULE ON MOTION TO DISMISS IN HIGH-STAKES ABREGO GARCIA CASE HEARINGAsked by Xinis whether the government planned to hold Abrego Garcia in ICE custody until his criminal case in Tennessee is over, lawyers for the administration did not mince their words."No," Justice Department attorney Jonathan Guynn answered simply."Theres no intention to just put him in limbo in ICE custody while we wait for the criminal case to unfold," Guynn told Xinis. "He will be removed, as would any other illegal alien in that process."The fast-paced timeline by which Justice Department officials plan to deport Abrego Garcia to a third country was just one of many issues heard by Xinis, the Maryland judge who has been presiding over his civil case since March, when Trump officials erroneously deported him to El Salvador.Xinis last week ordered both parties to appear in court for the first time since May, to consider a flurry of dueling motions that the Trump administration and lawyers for Abrego Garcia had submitted after his return to the U.S. last month. The judge did not immediately rule on each of the motions on Monday.FEDERAL JUDGE JAMES BOASBERG FINDS PROBABLE CAUSE TO HOLD TRUMP IN CONTEMPT OVER DEPORTATION FLIGHTSShe did, however, flatly reject two of the government's motions to dismiss the civil case, rejecting the Trump administration's previous claims that it had no "power to compel" El Salvador to return Abrego Garcia to the U.S. as "meritless."She also pressed Justice Department officials for details as to when it brought opened a federal investigation into Abrego Garcia in a separate district for actions stemming from a 2022 traffic stop, and how the timing of the probe and federal indictment squared with the government's testimony in her own court. At the same time as they were opening the federal investigation in Tennessee, she noted, they were slow-walking and otherwise resisting the court's order to "facilitate" his return to the U.S."At the same time that [the government] was saying it had no power to produce" Abrego Garcia in the U.S., administration officials "had already secured an indictment against him in the Middle District of Tennessee, right?" Xinis asked Justice Department lawyer Bridget O'Hickey."Yes your honor," OHickey replied.Xinis ultimately ordered the Trump administration to produce a government witness with personal knowledge of the plans to deport Abrego Garcia to testify in court on Thursday someone whom she said must be able to testify under oath about the "who, what, when, and where" of the goernment's plans to deport him, again, from the U.S. upon release from U.S. Marshals."Given the series of unlawful actions" here, I feel like its well within my authority to order this hearing perhaps more than one to hear testimony from at least one witness with firsthand knowledge, who can answer these questions about the immediate next steps" from the government pending Abrego Garca's release from custody, she said. This is a developing news story. Check back for updates.

Old smartphones are being turned into tiny data centers
Did you know that over 1.2 billion smartphones are produced every year? Most of these devices end up in landfills, contributing to the growing global e-waste crisis. But what if there was a smarter, greener way to use them? Researchers are now showing us that old smartphones as data centers could be the next big thing in sustainable tech.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts, and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. Instead of letting them gather dust or pollute the environment, these phones are being repurposed into tiny data centers. By connecting old smartphones together, the team enables them to efficiently process and store data for research and community projects, an innovative idea with significant impact.Turning old smartphones into data centers is surprisingly affordable. Researchers removed the batteries (to prevent chemical leaks) and used external power sources. They then connected the phones, placed them in 3D-printed holders, and created a working prototype. These mini-data centers have already been tested in real-world scenarios, like monitoring marine life underwater tasks that would normally require expensive equipment.Every phone that gets a second life as a data center means fewer toxic materials in landfills and less demand for new electronics. This approach not only reduces e-waste but also saves valuable resources and cuts down on CO emissions from manufacturing. By extending the life of our devices, we're taking a big step toward a more sustainable future. Before tossing out your old phone, consider donating it to organizations that upcycle electronics. Your device could help power the next wave of sustainable tech solutions. Together, we can keep our landfills cleaner and support innovative research, all by rethinking what we do with our old smartphones.Giving old smartphones a second chance as data centers is a simple way we can all help reduce e-waste and support sustainable tech. US ends terrorist designation of Syrian militant leaders
The Trump administration revoked the terrorist designation for HayatTahrir al-Sham, the militant group who overthrew President Bashar alAssad and assumed control of the Syrian government. The group was formed as Syrias al-Qaeda branch. In an astounding turnaround, the groups interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa went from a $10 million U.S. bounty on his head to the de facto leader of Syria who scored a meeting with President Donald Trump in June.Al-Sharaa had been campaigning hard for a relationship with Washington andsanctions relief: He offered to build a Trump Tower in Damascus, ease hostilities with Israel, and give U.S. access to Syria's oil and gas. He worked to soften the image of HayatTahrir al-Sham and promised an inclusive governing structure."In consultation with the Attorney General and the Secretary of the Treasury, I hereby revoke the designation of al-Nusrah Front, also known as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (and other aliases) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization," Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote in a memo made public Monday.TRUMP TO SIGN ORDER LIFTING SANCTIONS ON SYRIAThe move comes a week after Trump signed an executive order ending sanctions imposed on Syria. Trump said hed lift the sanctions on Syria to give the nation, ravaged by decades of civil war, a chance at economic development.Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that lifting sanctions would help Syria "reestablish ties to global commerce and build international confidence," while continuing to prevent "Assad, his cronies, terrorists, and other illicit actors from attempting to destabilize Syria and the region."HTS, a Sunni Islamist group, emerged out ofJabhat al-Nusra, Syrias former al-Qaeda affiliate. The State Department under Trump in 2018 added HTS to the existing al-Nusra foreign terrorist designation.WHY SYRIA PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN TRUMPS PLANS FOR MIDDLE EAST PEACESome sanctions still will need to be lifted by Congress. In a bipartisan pairing from opposite sides of the political spectrum, Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., recently introduced legislation to lift sanctions on Syria.U.S. sanctions have included financial penalties on any foreign individual or company that provided material support to the Syrian government and prohibited anyone in the U.S. from dealing in any Syrian entity, including oil and gas. Syrian banks also were effectively cut off from global financial systems.

TSA reveals the surprising reason people might set off security alarms during screening
A flight passenger made an observation after setting off an alarm while going through airport security which sparked a "sweaty" conversation online.Posted in the "r/tsa" forum on Reddit, the message was bluntly titled, "My crotch got flagged twice, thoughts?""I flew for the first time in 15 years this week and both airports flagged my crotch at the arms-up scanner," read the post.'POOP CRUISE' DOCUMENTARY EXPOSES 2013 SHIP NIGHTMARE FEATURING CHAOS, GROSS CONDITIONSThe user added, "I don't care about the pat-down. They were polite and professional and it doesn't bother me, but I'm wondering what did it."Plenty of other people took to the comments section to speculate about what could have set off the alarm."It can alarm on heavy sweat (experienced that once myself), which will probably be somewhat more common now that we're in the summer months," claimed one user.Another user asked, "Were you sweating?" to which the passenger responded, "Probably a little. I'm terrified of flying, so I was nervous."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER"Last time I flew out of my home airport of Tampa, I got searched, too," said a different person on Reddit. "The guard said something unnerving like swamp rot or swamp crotch or something similarly embarrassing."Another user remarked, "I didn't read all the comments, but this happens to me when I'm late for a flight because I'm sweaty.""If you [go] through the machine that makes you put your hands above your head, it senses moisture," the same person added."I've been stopped for additional screening twice."For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"Could be: clothes (baggy etc.), sweat, position (not on footprints, too wide or too narrow), zipper, too many layers, reflective stuff, ghosts, etc.," commented one user.A spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told Fox News Digital that sweat could play a role in setting off alarms."Added moisture from a persons body can alter the density of clothing, so it is possible perspiration may cause our Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) machines to alarm," said the spokesperson."If this occurs, the passenger may need to undergo additional screening, such as a pat-down in the area of the body where the AIT alarmed, to ensure there is no threat," the spokesperson added.

Linda McMahon calls out Gavin Newsom as California officials reject proposal to keep state Title IX compliant
Education Secretary Linda McMahon told California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday that he will be hearing from Attorney General Pam Bondi after the state was found to be in violation of Title IX.The California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) rejected the U.S. Education Departments Office for Civil Rights (OCR) proposed resolution agreement following transgender athlete controversies in high school athletics over the course of the school year.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMLinda McMahon shared CDE general counsel Len Garfinkels letter to OCR regional director Bradley R. Burke on Monday."The California Department of Education (CDE) received the U.S. Department of Educations Office for Civil Rights (OCRs) June 25, 2025 Letter of Finding and Proposed Resolution Agreement in the above-referenced OCR matter," the letter read."The CDE respectfully disagrees with OCRs analysis, and it will not sign the Proposed Resolution Agreement."McMahon also shared the CIFs response from its general counsel, Diane Marshall-Freeman."The office of the General Counsel for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is in receipt of your letter, dated June 25, 2025, directed to Dr. Ronald W. Nocetti, the Executive Director of the CIF," Marshall-Freeman wrote. "Turns out Gov. Newsoms acknowledgment that its an issue of fairness was empty political grandstanding."@CAgovernor, you'll be hearing from @AGPamBondi."Fox News Digital reached out to Newsoms office for comment. The U.S. Department of Educations Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced late last month that the CIF and the CDE were in violation of Title IX.The announcement came weeks after transgender high school track and field athlete AB Hernandez won medals in girls competitions during the California state championships. The transgender athletes participation in the events sparked nationwide outrage, specifically from PresidentDonald Trumpafter he signed the "No Men in Womens Sports" executive order, which prohibits transgender athletes from competing against biological girls and women in sports. The Education Department said the CIF and the CDE had 10 days to agree to the agencys proposed resolution agreement, part of which stated, "to each female to whom an individual recognition is restored, CDE will send a personalized letter to that girl or woman apologizing on behalf of the state of California for allowing her educational experience to be marred by sex discrimination."Additionally, "The CDE will issue a Notice to all recipients of federal funding (Recipients) that operate interscholastic athletic programs in California requiring them to comply with Title IX. This will specify that Title IX and its implementing regulations forbids schools from allowing males from participating in female sports and from occupying female intimate facilities, and that Recipients must adopt biology-based definitions of the words male and female.WOMEN INVOLVED IN SUPREME COURT CASES OVER TRANS ATHLETES OPEN UP ON FIGHTING HISTORIC LEGAL BATTLE"The CDE and CIF will rescind any guidance that advised local school districts or CIF members to permit male athletes to participate in womens and girls sports to reflect that Title IX preempts state law when state law conflicts with Title IX."The CDE will require each Recipient and CIF to submit to CDE an annual certification that the Recipient and CIF have complied with Title IX. Accordingly, CDE will also propose to OCR a Monitoring Plan to ensure that Recipients are fully complying with Title IX."Newsoms office responded to the initial announcement, brushing off the Trump administrations threats to defund California.Newsom previouslytalked about transgender participationin girls sports back in March with prominent conservative Charlie Kirk."The young man who's about to win the state championship in the long jump in female sports, that shouldn't happen," Kirk said. "You, as the governor, should step out and say no. Would you do something like that? Would you say no men infemale sports?""I think its an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness its deeply unfair," Newsom told Kirk. "I am not wrestling with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you."Kirk pressed Newsom on whether he would condemn the athlete in question from Jurupa Valley High School after the athlete won another event at the time. Newsom did not directly address the win but said "its a fairness issue.""So, that's easy to call out the unfairness of that," he said. "There's also humility and grace. These poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety and depression. And the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard time with as well."So, both things I can hold in my hand. How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think, you know, is inherent in you but not always expressed on the issue?"Newsom further explained his point of view in a press conference on April 2 when asked whether there should be a law to prohibit males from competing in girls and womens sports."And I'm about as transparent about this as anybody out there, particularly in my party, on this, and to the extent someone can and do it in a way that's respectful and responsible and could find a kind of balance, then I'm open to that discussion. ... You're talking about a very small number of people, a very small number of athletes, and my responsibility is to address the pressing issues of our time."And this, I think, has been colored in and weaponized by the right to be 10 times, 100 times bigger than it is, and so my focus is on a myriad of other issues in this state. And to the extent that someone could find that right balance, I would embrace those conversations and the dignity that hopefully presents themselves in that conversation, meaning the humanity around that conversation, not the politics around that conversation."Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Pacers officially rule out Tyrese Haliburton for 2025-26 NBA season with torn Achilles
Tyrese Haliburtons NBA playoffs journey came to the worst of endings in Game 7, and the Indiana Pacers confirmed what was expected heading into the 2025-26 season.Kevin Pritchard, president of basketball operations, confirmed on Monday that Haliburton will be out the entire next NBA campaign after tearing his Achilles. The Pacers do not want to "jeopardize" any further injury to Haliburton, their All-Star point guard. So, recovery will be lengthy to ensure he is 100% before returning to the court.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"I have no doubt that he will be back better than ever," Pritchard told reporters, via WISH-TV. " He will not play next year, though. We would not jeopardize that now."This isnt unexpected news for Haliburton after going down in Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the eventual winners of the NBA Finals in a hard-fought series by the Pacers.Achilles tears generally take up to a year to recover from, though some athletes have returned to their respective sports sooner.Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, for instance, was back on the field for his new squad 11 months after his injury. And though he never got back on the field, Aaron Rodgers believed he wouldve been able to play for the New York Jets just months after his own tear in Week 1 of the 2023 season.PACERS' TYRESE HALIBURTON GETS CANDID ON DEVASTATING INJURY: 'THE FRUSTRATION IS UNFATHOMABLE'However, football and basketball are very different sports, and the Pacers wont be risking anything with Haliburton, even if they were to make another Finals run in 2026.Haliburton signed a five-year, max extension with Indiana in 2023, marking him as one of their cornerstone pieces to build around for years to come. That move made tons of sense given what Haliburton was able to do for the Pacers during the regular season, and especially, the postseason.Haliburtons heroics throughout this years NBA Playoffs were mind-boggling to say the least, as he came through with clutch shot after shot as Indiana won the Eastern Conference. But, of course, Haliburton wasnt thinking about anything that got the Pacers all the way to Game 7 of the Finals after suffering his injury. He hoped his team could finish the job without him, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co. won it all in the end."Man. Dont know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable. Ive worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense," Haliburton wrote on X more than 24 hours after the game."Now that Ive gotten surgery, I wish I could count the number of times people will tell me Im going to come back stronger. What a cliche lol, this s--- sucks. My foot feels like dead weight fam. But whats hurting most I think is my mind. Feel like Im rambling, but I know this is something Ill look back on when Im through this, as something Im proud I fought through. It feels good to let this s--- out without yall seeing the kid ugly cry."At 25, Ive already learned that God never gives us more than we can handle. I know Ill come out on the other side of this a better man and a better player. And honestly, right now, torn Achilles and all, I dont regret it. Id do it again, and again after that, to fight for this city and my brothers. For the chance to do something special."Haliburton averaged 18.6 points and 9.2 assists per game for the Pacers in 2024-25.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
