Hakeem Jeffries tells 'The View' ICE is going after 'law-abiding immigrant families'
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Monday on "The View" that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was going after "law-abiding immigrant families," and didn't dismiss calls from other members of his party to defund it."The View" co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pressed Jeffries on whether he supported calls to defund ICE and if it was an effective message for Democrats heading into the 2026 midterms."Well, I definitely think that we need aggressive oversight as it relates to the overly aggressive behavior that were seeing from ICE, from the Department of Homeland Security," Jeffries, D-N.Y., told the hosts."Donald Trump and Republicans promised to go after violent felons, but instead theyre going after law-abiding immigrant families. And in fact, in some cases, deporting American citizens and children, some with cancer. And America is better than this, and thats the reality," Jeffries continued.JEFFRIES CLAIMS TRUMP BUDGET BILL WILL STEAL FOOD FROM 'THE MOUTHS OF BABIES' WHILE ENRICHING BILLIONAIRESJeffries also responded to a question from co-host Ana Navarro, who pressed him on what he would say to Latinos who feel hopeless about the Trump administration's immigration policies."We are seeing sort of an unprecedented flood of extremism being unleashed on the American people, and its happened from the very beginning," he said of Trump."But I think we can never lose hope in the resilience of the American people to face turbulence, and this is an incredibly turbulent moment, but to power our way through it and to come out stronger on the other side. Its not to say its going to be easy. It will be challenging, but I still believe in the fundamental goodness of the American people," Jeffries added.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREJeffries said it was important to secure the border, but also said Congress needed to fix the broken immigration system.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPHe told the co-hosts, "As House Democrats, our view is that while we work on making sure that the border can remain secure, while we work to fix our broken immigration system, we also are going to stand up for dreamers, farm workers and for law-abiding immigrant families at all times."

Sen. Steve Daines says regime change is the best long-term plan in Iran
FIRST ON FOX: A Senate Republican believes that regime change is the best long-term "solution" in Iran as a fragile ceasefire between the Islamic Republic and Israel continues to hold. The truce between Israel and Iran came late last month, and so far has put a hold on the fighting that took place over the course of 12 days in the region, which began when the Jewish State struck Iranian targets on June 13. It culminated in a U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear sites with bunker-busters in an operation greenlit by President Donald Trump.Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and previously held a position as chair of the Senate GOP's campaign arm, told Fox News Digital that he is cautiously optimistic that the truce will hold, but warned that Irans deep-seated aggression towards Israel could be the ceasefires undoing unless a new regime took over.SENATE SHUTS DOWN KAINE'S ATTEMPT TO CHECK TRUMP'S WAR POWERS"I'm of the opinion that the longer-term solution in Iran is going to be regime change," Daines said. "Because until you have a regime that recognizes the legitimacy of the Jewish state of Israel and their right to exist, and believes that Israel should not be destroyed, I don't think we're going to bring the peace that we need, that we all aspire to see between Iran, Israel and, frankly, in the Middle East."Daines' sentiment comes ahead of an expected meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday at the White House.'THE MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED': SENATE REPUBLICANS PUSH BACK AGAINST LEAKED REPORT ON IRAN STRIKESThere is a bipartisan push between Reps. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., and Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., to further arm Israel with B-2 bombers and bunker-busting bombs, but most lawmakers, including Daines, don't believe that the U.S. should get involved in toppling the current regime and installing a new one.The U.S. was involved in regime change in the country in the 1950s, when then-Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh was removed and the door was opened for Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to take control of Iran. In 1979, the Islamic Revolution took place, which removed Pahlavi from power and saw the birth of the current regime.Daines argued that any change must come from within, because "otherwise, it's just a matter of time before that regime would lose its legitimacy.""Regime change is risky because you may end up with something worse than what you have," Daines said. "Now in this case, the bar is set awfully low in Iran, but you could get an equivalent type of philosophy, or maybe something a little better."'NOT OUR ROLE': LAWMAKERS CAUTIOUS OVER MIDDLE EAST PEACE, NOT READY FOR REGIME CHANGE"I think we need to have a regime that recognizes that Iran and their long-term prosperity will be tied to growing closer to the West and being an ally of the West and not being an ally of China, Russia, North Korea," he continued."A ceasefire is not the end. It's a means. A ceasefire just says, OK, we're still at war, but we're not going to shoot for a while. That's what a ceasefire is," Daines said. "A lasting peace will be when the Iranian leadership recognizes the legitimacy of Israel as a Jewish state.""Until that happens, I think Iran will remain a threat, particularly if the regime, whether it's the current regime or a regime that changed that has a similar ideology as the current regime, that Israel must be destroyed," he continued. "That is not a peaceful outcome. That's just delaying what could be a future development of nuclear capabilities and some kind of a first strike by Iran, either against Israel or against the United States."

Top Iranian cleric calls for Trump's execution
A top Iranian cleric called for the executions of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in accordance with Sharia law while speaking during a sermon on Friday.Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami accused the two leaders of murdering tens of thousands of people in Gaza and the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, commander of theIslamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, according to a translation of the remarks by Memri TV."You are murderers, and you need to be punished," Khatami said, per the translation. The crowd responded with chants of "Death to America," "Death to England" and "Death to Israel."AFTER SETBACK TO IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAM, TRUMP EXPECTED TO LEVERAGE MILITARY SUPPORT IN NETANYAHU MEETINGKhatami is a member of the Iranian regimes Guardian Council and a senior member of the Assembly of Experts.Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated to a 12-day war last month, amid an ongoing war between Israel and the regimes Gaza-based proxy Hamas, which started when the group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.Trump has made clear that following the12-day war between Israel and Iran, he would like to see the Gaza conflict end soon.ISRAEL HAMMERS HOUTHIS WITH AIRSTRIKES, REBELS RESPOND AMID RED SEA FLARE-UPRelations between the U.S. and Iran were also tense after the U.S. launched a surprise strike on three of Irans key nuclear sites last month.Trump recently took a swipe at Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying that the U.S. knew where the Iranian leader was hiding."We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding," Trump wrote at the time. "He is an easy target, but is safe there we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we dont want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin."Iranian officials have since launched a war of words against Trump, demanding he respect Khamenei or else risk facing the regimes "real capabilities."The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Dems, media hijack devastating Texas flooding to push 'shameful' climate change, anti-Trump narrative
Democrats and media outlets across the country have been quick to politicize the devastating flooding in Texas that killed at least 91 people by blaming climate change, President Trump, race and government cuts."It is hard to make the Texas flood tragedy worse, except to know that on the same day Trump signed a bill cratering solar and wind energy that is vital in the battle against the climate change making these torrential rains more frequent," former Washington Gov. Jay Insleeposted on X on Saturday as bodies were still being recovered in Texas."I think climate change is obviously a part of it," Dem. Rep. Joaquin Castrotold CNN. "These floods are happening more often.""Waste, fraud & abuse is a handy mantra,"Former Obama aideDavid Axelrodposted on Xon Sunday. "And they surely exist, in & out of government. But cutting vital services like the weather service has predictable, hazardous consequences especiallywhen catastrophic weather events are becoming more frequent!"TEXAS SUMMER CAMP EVACUATED 70 STAYING NEAR RIVER AHEAD OF FLOODING: 'SAW IT COMING'"Accurate weather forecasting helps avoid fatal disasters," Sen. Chris Murphy,D-Conn., posted on X in response to reports that a specific meteorologist position in the area was unfilled at the time of the flood. "There are consequences to Trumps brainless attacks on public workers, like meteorologists."Murphy was one of several critics on the left to invoke Trumps name."It only took 9 days for Trump's cuts to the [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] to kill dozens of children in Texas when Tropical Storm Barry landed this week," Grant Stern, the executive editor of Occupy Democrats, wrote on X."The people in Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott," added Ron Filipkowski, former federal prosecutor and the editor-in-chief of MediasTouchNews. "That is exactly what they (sic) getting."Isaiah Martin, a Democratic candidate for Texas's 18th Congressional District, called for an immediate congressional investigation into "the Republican DOGE cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service."TEXAS FLOOD SURVIVORS SHARE HARROWING STORIES, SEARCH CONTINUES FOR THOSE STILL MISSING"We saw the affects (sic) this weekend," Martin wrote on X. "Trump defunded these agencies and we DEMAND answers. There MUST be *swift* accountability!""Trump & Musk gutted the National Weather Service. The result was predictable: A bad forecast leading to the death of children in a horrific flood," added California state Sen. Scott Wiener.Additionally, several media outlets joined Democrats in placing blame on budget cuts and suggesting the National Weather Service was understaffed at the time of the flooding despite anAssociated Press report that said the NWS office in the area had extra staff on duty at the time of the flooding."Reminder: The staffing shortages at the National Weather Services San Angelo and San Antonio offices doubled under the Trump administration," the official X account of the Democratic Partywrote on X in a post that was lambasted by conservatives on social media. "These jobs are meant to coordinate disaster response and save lives.""The Big Ugly Bills elimination of climate action laws and cutbacks in the National Weather Service couldnt come at a worse time as the deadly flooding in Texas has shown," Rep. Frank Pallone,D-N.J., posted on X. "Those incidents are likely to get worse as Republicans ignore the reality of climate change."Some incorporated race into the equation, includingSade Perkins, a former member of the Houston Food Insecurity Board, who suggested in aheavily criticized video the intense media coverage of the event was because the young girls who were killed at a summer camp in the floods path were White.Several meteorologists have pushed back in recent days on Democratic claims that Trump administration cuts to NOAA, NWS and other government agencies directly contributed to the tragedy."The event has nothing to do with climate change," meteorologist Chris Martzposted on X. "And, the tragedy had nothing to do with DOGE cuts.If you are someone who has exploited this catastrophe because you just dont like Trump, you need to take a serious look in the mirror."Tom Fahy, legislative director for the National Weather Service Employees Organization, told NBC News that weather forecasting offices were adequately staffed, and "they issued timely forecasts and warnings leading up to the storm," but he added that unfilled leadership positions were "clearly a concern.""All I'll say is this. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Kerr County more than 12 hours ahead of the catastrophic flood. A flash flood warning was issued for Hunt & Ingram 3 HOURS before the Guadalupe started to climb," said Texas-based meteorologist Avery Tomasco. "They did their job and they did it well."White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson called it "shameful and disgusting" to see that, in the wake of this tragedy, people are politicizing what took place."Its shameful and disgusting that in the wake of tragedy, the lefts first instinct is to lie and politicize a disaster to target their political opponents. False claims about the NWS have been repeatedly debunked by meteorologists, experts and other public reporting," Jackson said. "The NWS did their job, even issuing a flood watch more than 12 hours in advance. The Trump administration is grateful to the first responders who sprung into action to save hundreds of lives during this catastrophe, and will continue to help the great state of Texas in their recovery efforts."In a lengthy thread on X outlining the timing of the government's response, the Department of Homeland Security said "the mainstream media is deliberately lying about the events leading up to the catastrophic flooding in Texas."Fox News Digitals Alec Schemmel contributed to this report

Border agent ambush shows Dems need to 'tone down rhetoric,' White House says, pushing AOC to meet with ICE
The White House is calling on Democrats in Congress to ramp down heated language toward U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and agents for Customs and Border Protection (CBP), after a gunman opened fire upon Border Patrol agents at an annex facility in McAllen, Texas, Monday. The Department of Homeland Security reported earlier in July that assaults against ICE officers and other federal immigration agents have risen nearly 700% in comparison to 2024.Specifically, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., should set up a meeting with ICE and CBP agents.ICE DIRECTOR SAYS PROGRESSIVE DEM SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO VOTERS AFTER CALLING AGENCY TERRORIST FORCE"We certainly call on Democrats to tone down their rhetoric against ICE and Border Patrol agents, who, again, are everyday men and women. I would encourage AOC and other Democrats to actually meet with the United States Border Patrol," Leavitt told reporters on Monday. "These are honorable Americans who are just simply trying to do their job to enforce the law. They go home to their families every night, just like we all do, and they deserve respect and dignity for trying to enforce our nation's immigration laws and to remove public safety threats from our communities."A spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.DHS: ASSAULTS ON ICE NOW UP NEARLY 700% OVER SAME TIME LAST YEARAgents and local police shot and killed the gunman who opened fire on Border Patrol agents in Texas' Rio Grande Valley Monday and shot a local police officer, according to Department of Homeland Security officials."Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter," a DHS spokesperson said in an email to Fox News Digital Monday. Jayapal defended her comments in an interview with CNN Wednesday, after the White House demanded an apology from the lawmaker."What is deranged and cruel and outrageous is that, literally, we are seeing ICE agents, I assume theyre ICE agents," Jayapal said in an interview with CNN. "They say they are. They dont have any identification. Theyre wearing masks. Theyre in plain clothes. Blaming President Trump for these floods is a depraved lie, and it serves no purpose during this time of national mourning," Leavitt said."Here are the facts. Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide, did not have client list: DOJ memo
This story discusses suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).Fox News Digital has obtained a two-page internal Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI memo that says deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide, and that there is no list of clients whom Epstein may have procured for exploitation by third parties."This systemic review revealed no incriminating client list," a portion of the memo says. "There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions. We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties."Axios first reported on the memo Sunday night.FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR CONFIRMS JEFFREY EPSTEIN DIED BY SUICIDE BASED ON AGENCY'S FILESOn Feb. 21, Attorney General Pamela Bondi told "America Reports" host John Roberts that she was in possession of the "client list.""It's sitting on my desk right now to review," she said at the time. "That's been a directive by President Trump."In an exchange with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday, Fox News' Peter Doocy asked about the apparent contradiction."So, the FBI looks at the circumstance surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein," Doocy said. "According to the report, this systematic review revealed no incriminating client list. So what happened to the Epstein client list that the attorney general said she had on her desk?""Well I think that if you go back and look at what the attorney general said, in that interview which was on your network, on Fox News " Leavitt said."I've got the quote," Doocy said. "John Roberts said DOJ may be releasing the list of Jeffrey Espsteins clients. Will that really happen?' And she said, Its sitting on my desk right now for review.""Yes, she was saying the entirety of all of the paperwork, of all of the papers in relation to Jeffrey Epstein's crimes," Leavitt said. "That's what the attorney general was referring to, and I'll let her speak for that. But again when it comes to the FBI and the Department of Justice, they are more than committed to ensuring that bad people are put behind bars."The memo also says that Epstein died by suicide in 2019 in the Metropolitan Correctional Facility in New York City.FBI BOSSES INSIST JEFFREY EPSTEIN KILLED HIMSELF AFTER REVIEWING HIS FILE"After a thorough investigation, FBI investigators concluded that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City on August 10, 2019," the memo says."This conclusion is consistent with previous findings, including the August 19, 2019 autopsy findings of the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the November 2019 position of the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of New York in connection with the investigation of federal correctional officers responsible for guarding Epstein, and the June 2023 conclusions of DOJs Office of the Inspector General."Two weeks prior to his death, Epstein had been placed on suicide watch after he was found barely conscious in his cell with injuries to his neck. He had been taken off suicide watch just days before hanging himself. The DOJ released a grainy security video purportedly showing the common area of the Special Housing Unit where Epstein was housed on the night of his death. The memo says he entered his cell at around 10:40 p.m., which does not appear to be captured by the security footage.EPSTEIN ACCUSER VIRGINIA GIUFFRE ENCOURAGED ABUSE SURVIVORS TO 'KEEP FIGHTING' IN JOURNAL ENTRY"As DOJs Inspector General explained in 2023, anyone entering or attempting to enter the tier where Epsteins cell was located from the SHU common area would have been captured by this footage," according to the memo. "The FBIs independent review of this footage confirmed that from the time Epstein was locked in his cell at around 10:40 pm on August 9, 2019, until around 6:30 am the next morning, nobody entered any of the tiers in the SHU."The powerful and wealthy sexual predator, who was connected to high-level American politicians and British royalty, pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution charges in Florida in 2008.He was accused of sexual exploitation of over 250 underage girls in his 2019 arrest. In 2022, Epstein's partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors to participate in illegal sex acts, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts, sex trafficking conspiracy, and sex trafficking of a minor. The DOJ release announcing Maxwell's sentencing says she procured underage girls for Epstein to sexually exploit. It makes no mention of a broader sex trafficking operation by Epstein himself.READ THE FULL MEMO:The DOJ did not immediately return follow-up comment requests. The FBI did not return comment requests.
