Texas school gathers supplies to help flood-impacted locals after spotlight moves on
As Texas families in the Hill Country continue to grapple with the aftermath of a devastating flood, a local elementary school has served first as a reunification center, and then as a supply depot.Ingram Independent School District Interim Superintendent Mindy Curran spoke to Fox News Digital about the transformation Ingram Elementary School has undergone over just three days."On day one, we initially opened up Ingram Elementary as a reunification site for families looking for people, for our camps that were evacuating," Curran said. "Every day it's kind of evolved based on the needs that are happening in our community at the time."TEXAS FAMILY HELPS RESCUE WOMAN CLINGING TO TREE AFTER BEING SWEPT 20 MILES DOWNRIVERCurran said that the school was initially not going to open on Saturday, but when supplies began pouring into Kerr County, the building was once again pressed into service. Volunteers worked Saturday and Sunday to organize donations, including toiletries, bottled water, nonperishable food and other essentials for struggling local families. While the generous donations are appreciated, Curran suspects supplies will prove especially useful after the initial wave of volunteers and donations dies down."In a catastrophe like this, there's an initial influx of all this support and help," Curran said. "And then, when that support and help exits, the community is still here needing those things. And so, we're going to have that organized and ready to go for that purpose."LIVE UPDATES: TEXAS FLOODS LEAVE DOZENS DEAD, MISSING AS CREWS SEARCH FOR SURVIVORSWhen asked how operations at Ingram Elementary School were able to get going quickly, Curran credited the community for its support."What's really impressive is our community, and I knew it, but nothing tells you like when you have a situation where the community really needs to rally around and step up in a catastrophe like what we've had," Curran said. "And their response has been just overwhelming."As she was speaking with Fox News Digital, a truck with a pallet of water bottles drove up to the schools entrance. Curran pointed out that the people coming with supplies were from outside the local area and drove hours to get to Ingram Elementary School. While she said that she could not speak to the immediate needs of impacted families, Curran said that the Ingram School District is being responsive and preparing for what comes next. Long after the floodwaters have receded and the spotlight is off of Kerr County, local families will need supplies, she said. And they'll be waiting inside Ingram Elementary School.

'Superman' director reveals reboot will tackle politics and kindness, tells 'jerks' to 'screw' off
Director James Gunn revealed that the upcoming "Superman" movie will be "about politics," saying that the iconic superhero is "an immigrant that came from other places.""Superman is the story of America," Gunn told The Sunday Times in a recent interview. "An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me, it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost."The character, first introduced in 1938, was born from the imagination of writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster in Cleveland, Ohio. In the comics, Superman is the sole survivor of the planet Krypton, sent to Earth by his parents as their world faced destruction.FIVE FOR FIGHTING REIMAGINES SUPERMAN IN POWERFUL TRIBUTE TO ISRAELI HOSTAGESThe film, set to hit theaters on July 11, will serve as a reboot of the 2013 film Man of Steel and is intended to launch a new cinematic universe for the DC franchise. Actor David Corenswet stars as the new Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. When asked whether he considered how the movies political themes might resonate differently across the country from "blue state" New York, aka Metropolis, to Supermans rural roots in Kansas Gunn acknowledged the contrast."Yes, it plays differently," he said. "Its about human kindness. And obviously, there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness. But screw them."ACTOR KNOCKS 'FANTASTIC 4' HERO AS 'WOMANIZING' GUY, SAYS HIS PORTRAYAL IN NEW FILM WILL BE DIFFERENTWhile Gunn emphasized the films political and moral undertones, he also noted its sense of fun and fantasy mentioning a flying dog in a cape as part of the film's lighter elements."Yes, its about politics," he said. "But on another level, its about morality. Do you never kill no matter what which is what Superman believes or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? Its really about their relationship and how differing moral perspectives can pull two people apart."Gunn did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Young Texas camp survivor describes harrowing moment she prepared for worst during deadly flood
A young camper who was rescued from Camp Mystic described the harrowing ordeal as catastrophic floods pummeled Central Texas."We went to bed thinking it was just a normal thunderstorm. One minute you see lightning strike next to your cabin, and next to you, you hear water's coming up," 16-year-old Callie McAlary described on Fox Report."And you have kids running just trying to get to other cabins, trying to get to safety. And luckily, my cabin was one of the few cabins that did not get water, but the cabins in front of us did get some water," McAlary continued.McAlary's mother, Tara Bradburn, also reflected on the tragic flooding, saying that despite living in Virginia now, the camp had been a huge part of their lives as McAlary had been attending the camp since she was in second grade.CAMP MYSTIC DIRECTOR DIES WHILE TRYING TO SAVE KIDS DURING TEXAS FLOODING"We chose this camp. I was a Texan. It was important to me that my child have Texas roots," Bradburn shared."Living in Virginia, we brought her to Camp Mystic and turned her over to the Dick and Tweedy Eastland family and Camp Mystics and their staff because we knew they would love on our child. They would help her grow in her faith and live the Mystic ideals of being a better person and bringing out the best in her," Bradburn continued. "We are so devastated by what has happened, but truly grateful and thankful to the Eastland family for all they have done and all they've given as a family to save the children that they could."Bradburn weighed in on how devastating that evening was for her daughter and how fast everything turned into a nightmare."Even up on Senior Hill, I think that conveys to you how fast the water came up and how high it came and how it was a 100-year historic flash flood. We had never seen anything like this. And I cannot say enough about what these young counselors did to calm these girls and to ensure their safety," Bradburn said.McAlary continued to describe the night and the moment she realized something was terribly wrong.REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN REUNITES WITH DAUGHTERS AFTER TEXAS CAMP FLOODING, THANKS COUNTLESS HEROES"We heard one second, it was really bad thunder. I woke up to a big giant sound of thunder and lightning striking," McAlary recalled. "We heard one of the campers run in and say, hey, our cabin is flooding." I knew some girls slept on trunks that night, some girls had to share beds, some girls slept on floors because they couldn't go back to their cabin because it was so flooded in three cabins."In an effort to protect herself and prepare for the worst-case scenario, McAlary put a name tag on her body in the middle of the night."I put on my name tag because I was scared that if water was coming out next to other cabins that our cabin might be next. And I just put it on just for safekeeping in my head I was saying, 'if something does happen, and I do get swept away, at least I'll have my name on my body,'" McAlary explained.Bradburn shared that both her and her husband had worked for the Department of Defense and each spent "many times in war zones on behalf of this nation," and spoken to McAlary "more times than she could count" about staying safe in any environment.TEXAS FLOOD SURVIVORS SHARE HARROWING STORIES, SEARCH CONTINUES FOR THOSE STILL MISSING"This was not an environment we had ever thought we would have to prepare her for. That comment to me as a parent when she got off that helicopter and finally came into my arms and I saw this name tag on her, and it was the camp name tag she was issued on the day she arrived. It resonated with me that somewhere those little lessons that we gave her as parents years ago and throughout her life resonated with her in that moment," Bradburn said.Despite her daughter being alive and safe, Bradburn said they are devastated for so many families that are missing loved ones."There are no answers. This is a lot emotionally for anyone. And it's something as parents, we owe our child to try to be strong for her and to ensure that she also has the help she needs moving forward," Bradburn said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPMcAlary said she is now holding on to hope that the rest of her friends and all those who are missing are found soon."I really hope those kids that are missing are found. I knew a lot of those kids and a lot of those kids the night before hugged me before we all went to bed. And it's hard to think about that one minute they were hugging me and the next minute they could be gone."

Mexico defeats United States, 2-1, to win their 10th CONCAF Gold Cup title
The United States men's national soccer team was able to get off to a hot start, but it was Mexico coming away with the Gold Cup Final victory, 2-1, on Sunday night.Mexicohas now won its 10th Gold Cup of all time, extending their record after defending their title in 2023.The United States got on the board immediately, as midfielder Sebastian Berhalter, the son of former head coach Gregg Berhalter, placed a free kick in the perfect position for Chris Richards to head the ball off the crossbar and over the goal line to make it 1-0.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThese two linked up against Saudi Arabia in the group stage, and they did so again in this match to take a lead over the favorite "El Tri."But Mexico started to gain its momentum back, putting a few shots on Matt Freese before midfielder Marcel Ruiz found Raul Jimenez, who just turned and fired with his left foot to put it top shelf.DIEGO LUNA SCORES TWICE AS USMNT SECURES SPOT IN GOLD CUP FINALIt looked like veteran USMNT defender Tim Ream was going to stop it as the window Jimenez had to shoot was minuscule, yet it went through, and Freese had no chance. In the second half, with the game still tied at one goal apiece, Mexico was dominating the ball, and it almost felt like the decisive goal was coming soon.It did in the 77th minute when Johan Vasquez put a header into the penalty area, and Edson Alvarez put Mexico on top as he dove to deflect Vasquezs initial header into the net. A VAR replay confirmed that Alvarez was onside, and the goal stood. Now desperate, the U.S. was trying hard to find that equalizer before time expired, and Patrick Agyemang and Alex Freeman had chances. However, both couldnt handle the ball in the end. This Mexico squad had all their top guys, which is why they were favorites to defend their title under head coach Javier Aguirre. They did so by becoming the first team to repeat themselves since 2011.Meanwhile, the USMNT came without some of their top dogs, including Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie, among others. They were hoping to give themselves an eighth Gold Cup, but they will have to wait until the next tournament.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Fighter jets protect Trump during NJ weekend stay as 11 aircraft violate restricted airspace
Fighter jets intercepted at least three aircraft on Sunday, which violated temporary flight restriction (TFR) airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey, where President Trump was spending the holiday weekend, according to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).With one aircraft being intercepted in the morning, and two others being intercepted later in the day, NORAD said there were a total of 11 unauthorized aircraft incursions in the TFR airspace over the weekend. At about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, a civilian plane violated the TFR and was safely escorted out of the area by a NORAD aircraft."NORAD and the [Federal Aviation Administration] aim to keep the skies over America safe, with close attention paid to areas with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) to ensure flight safety, national security, and the security of the President," Gen. Gregory Guillot, Commander, NORAD and US Northern Command said. "TFR procedures are mandatory, and the excessive number of TFR violations this weekend indicates some civil aviators are not reading Notice to Airmen, or NOTAMs, before each flight as required by the FAA."NORAD INTERCEPTS PLANE IN TRUMPS BEDMINSTER NO-FLY ZONE: 'NO EXCUSES'Guillot said the NORAD armed fighter jets intercept and guide offending aircraft out of the TFR.SECOND NAVY FIGHTER JET GOES OVERBOARD FROM TRUMAN AIRCRAFT CARRIER, PILOTS EJECTED"Should the pilot of an aircraft happen to find itself intercepted by either fighters or helicopters, they should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies," Guillot added. In another instance on Saturday, an aircraft was safely escorted out of the TFR airspace just before 2:40 p.m., after a standard "headbutt" maneuver was used to get the pilots attention.AIR FORCE F-16 STRUCK BY DRONE DURING TRAINING FLIGHT OVER ARIZONA IN 2023The maneuver involves a military jet flying directly in front of a civilian aircraft at a close but safe distance to visually signal the pilot to either follow or change course.Officials warned private pilots to do their homework before takeoff.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"It is critically important for North American flight safety that Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) violations are avoided," NORAD said in a message to pilots. "All pilots must familiarize themselves with updates to restricted airspace, including reviewing new and existing FAA NOTAMs [Notice to Airmen] that impact their flight plans and activities. Adhering to FAA restricted airspace protocols is mandatory, regardless of geographical region, airframe, or aircrew."Fox News Digitals Jasmine Baehr contributed to this report.

Marines team up with ICE in bold move to boost threat awareness at critical military bases
The U.S. Marine Corps, in cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has quietly launched a pilot program to station ICE agents at three major military installations: Camp Pendleton in California, Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia and Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The move, aimed at bolstering security around these bases, has raised as many questions as it seeks to answer.Abby Hall Blanco, a University of Tampa economics and defense professor, weighed in on the lack of transparency surrounding the programs inception."We don't really have a whole lot of information at precisely what led up to this specific program," she told Fox News Digital. "The program is intended to augment security, particularly around the perimeter of these Marine Corps bases."JORDANIAN QUANTICO BREACH SUSPECT FREED UNDER BIDEN ARRESTED AGAIN BY ICE: REPORTA Pentagon official issued a statement to Fox News Digital, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the effort."Our cooperative effort with ICE at MCB Camp Pendleton, MCB Quantico and MCB Hawaii is a pilot program that aligns with the enhanced security measures we are implementing at all our installations worldwide to deter unauthorized installation access by foreign nationals."They said that the presence of ICE personnel "enhances installation-level force protection by increasing visibility, coordination, and threat awareness at critical access points and in surrounding areas."WATCH:The installation of ICE personnel comes after high-profile incidents, namely the 2023 breach attempt by two Jordanian nationals at Quantico. Both individuals were apprehended on May 3, 2024 after they attempted to breach the Marine Corps base. A spokesperson previously shared with Fox News Digital that the pair arrived in a box truck and were stopped at the gate. The driver told military police officers that they were making a delivery to the post office and worked for a company subcontracted by Amazon.NEW JERSEY MILITARY BASE CONFIRMS MULTIPLE DRONE CONTRABAND-SMUGGLING INCURSIONS THIS YEAROne of the two Jordanian nationals was later confirmed to be in the U.S. illegally, with the other a foreign student whose status was terminated, according to ICE.Other incidents, including unauthorized drone flights over military installations and reports from The Wall Street Journal that around 100 Chinese nationals have attempted to breach U.S. military bases, add to the picture of a growing concern by the U.S. government.Despite heightened security, Hall expressed skepticism about the implications of involving ICE."It gives kind of an odd impression that the Marine Corps is not handling its own security sufficiently," she said. "Having known quite a few Marines in my time, I can't imagine that they would find that to be a particularly flattering interpretation."Fox News Digital has reached out to ICE for comment.Fox News Digital's Greg Wehner contributed to this report.
