Former Israeli hostage slams Pulitzer board for awarding prize to 'modern-day Holocaust denier'
Israeli hostage Emily Damari slammed the Pulitzer Prize boards decision to grant their prestigious award to a New Yorker writer who viciously attacked her and another female Israeli captive on social media, saying the organization failed on a "question of humanity.""You claim to honor journalism that upholds truth, democracy, and human dignity. And yet you have chosen to elevate a voice that denies truth, erases victims, and desecrates the memory of the murdered," Damari posted on X.Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha was granted the Pulitzer Prize for his "essays on the physical and emotional carnage in Gaza," the board announced Monday. The award came with a $15,000 prize.Toha has frequently disparaged Israeli hostages in numerous posts on social media, including Damari.NEW PULITZER PRIZE WINNER DISPARAGED ISRAELIS KIDNAPPED BY HAMAS ON OCT 7, QUESTIONED THEIR 'HOSTAGE' STATUS"How on earth is this girl called a hostage? (And this is the case of most 'hostages'). This is Emily Damari, a 28 UK-Israeli soldier that Hamas detailed on 10/7 So this girl is called a hostage? This soldier who was close to the border with a city that she and her country have been occupying is called a hostage?" Tohapostedabout Damari on January 24, 2025.Damari, 29, who lost two fingers in her left hand when she was dragged out of her home by Hamas terrorists during their Oct. 7 terrorist attacks on Israel, detailed her excruciating ordeal in her response addressed to members of the Pulitzer Prizes board."On the morning of October 7, I was at home in my small studio apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when Hamas terrorists burst in, shot me and dragged me across the border into Gaza. I was one of 251 men, women, children, and elderly people kidnapped that day from their beds, their homes, and a music festival," she wrote."For almost 500 days I lived in terror. I was starved, abused, and treated like I was less than human. I watched friends suffer. I watched hope dim. And even now, after returning home, I carry that darkness with me - because my best friends, Gali and Ziv Berman are still being held in the Hamas terror tunnels."Damari, who was freed from captivity on Jan. 19, wrote that the Pulitzer boards decision to grant the award to Toha caused her "shock and pain." She accused the Palestinian poet of "outright denials of documented atrocities" for his inflammatory posts which denied the murder of the Bibas family and that she and fellow Israeli captive Agam Berger were true hostages."The Israeli hostage Agam Berger, who was released days ago participates in her sisters graduation from an Israeli Air Force officers course. These are the ones the world wants to share sympathy for, killers who join the army and have family in the army! These are the ones whom CNN, BBC and the likes humanize in articles and TV programs and news bulletins," Tohapostedon Feb. 3, 2025.PRESIDENT TRUMP GAVE ME BACK MY LIFE AFTER 471 DAYS OF HAMAS CAPTIVITY PLEASE SAVE THE REMAINING HOSTAGESBerger, 28, is an Israeli violinist and former Gaza border scout at base Nahal Oz who was held captive in Gaza for 482 days. Sherevealed how she found ways to observe the Jewish Sabbath and Passover even as her captors tried to force her to convert her to Islam and how she and a fellow scout, Liri Albag, were kept in a "small room with no natural light." She was released from captivity on Jan. 30.Damari and Berger declined to comment.Toha has also denied evidence that showed the two Bibas children, 9-month-old Kfir and Ariel, 4, were killed by their captors "bare hands." He also spread the disproven claim that Israel was behind the bombing of the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza in Oct. 2023 and appeared to deny that Israeli hostages had been tortured. Numerous Israeli hostages have testified that they were victims of or witnessed torture, including sexual assault."Mosab Abu Toha is not a courageous writer. He is the modern-day equivalent of a Holocaust denier. And by honoring him, you have joined him in the shadows of denial," Damari told the Pulitzer board."This is not a question of politics. This is a question of humanity. And today, you have failed it," she concluded.A Pulitzer Prize representative did not directly address Toha's award when reached for comment."The Pulitzer Prizes for reporting, commentary, literature, and the arts are based on a review of works that have been formally submitted for consideration," a Pulitzer Prize representative told Fox News Digital. The New Yorker and Toha did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment in time for publication.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

"Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York. She is in a class by herself. Congratulations Jeanine!"Pirro has left Fox News Channel and a rotation of Fox News personalities will fill her seat on "The Five" until a new co-host is named."Jeanine Pirro has been a wonderful addition toThe Fiveover the last three years and a longtime beloved host across FOX News Media who contributed greatly to our success throughout her 14-year tenure. We wish her all the best in her new role in Washington," a spokesperson for FOX News Media said in a statement.TRUMP PULLS HIS NOMINATION FOR DC US ATTORNEY, SAYS HE'LL REVEAL NEW PICK SOONPirro served as the assistant district attorney and district attorney in New York's Westchester County and became the first woman to service as a judge in Westchester County Court. She joined Fox News Channel in 2006 and hosted "Justice with Judge Jeanine" for 11 years before joining "The Five," which has emerged as the most-watched show on cable news.FOX NEWS CHANNEL FINISHES HIGHEST-RATED FIRST 100 DAYS IN CABLE NEWS HISTORY WITH DOMINANT APRILTrump also announced on Truth Social that Ed Martin, who was the previous interim U.S. attorney in D.C., will be moving to the Department of Justice as its "Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney.""In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!" Trump wrote.CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MEDIA AND CULTURE NEWSTrump pulled Martin's nomination for U.S. attorney in D.C. following resistance on Capitol Hill signaling he did not have the votes to be confirmed."He wasn't getting the support from people that I thought," Trump told reporters at the White House earlier in the day. "You know, he's done a very good job. Crime is down 25% in DC during this period of time I can only lift that little phone so many times of the day. But we have somebody else."Trump's decision to replace Martin came amid a May 20 deadline to confirm the former defense attorney and "Stop the Steal" organizer. That's because if the Senate fails to confirm a U.S. attorney nominee within 120 days, federal district court judges may select an interim U.S. attorney, according to the Department of Justice.Fox News' Diana Stancy contributed to this report.

ESPN panelist says 'trans kids deserve to play sports' in final appearance before show's cancellation
"Around the Horn" leaves the airwaves later this month, which means some of the show's panelists are making their final appearances in the coming weeks. That includes Kate Fagan, who appeared for the last time on the show Thursday. Fagan, a longtime writer and reporter, also played college basketball at Colorado.Fagan has made appearances on the show since she was first hired by ESPN in 2012. She left the network in 2018 but has continued to appear on the program.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMFagan was determined to be the "winner" of Thursday's show against Jemele Hill, who made a return to the show since leaving the network in 2018. The winner of the episode typically delivers a short monologue, and Fagan said "being on this show has been a privilege and a platform."With Thursday marking her final episode, she used that platform to make a plea for transgender athletes."I know it's my last time on it, and I want to say something worthy of that platform, and that's trans kids deserve to play sports," she said. "Think about what you remember from your time playing sports. Ninety-nine percent of it is finding that jersey for the first time, your favorite number, community, joy, those high-fives."It's that moment when you have a great play with a teammate. It's the feeling of belonging. And it does not know gender. Trans kids deserve the same as everyone else does."Sports is joy. Sports is humanity. And the more people who have that, the better."CHET LEMON, WORLD SERIES CHAMPION WITH TIGERS, DIES AT 70There is no law or order that bans transgender children from participating in sports. President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February that prohibits biological males identifying as girls or women from competing against biological females.ESPN announced the show's cancellation in March, and shortly after, former panelist Jay Mariotti, who was a regular on the show until a domestic violence arrest in 2010, said in an interview the show is being canceled because it went "woke.""I think what John Skipper wanted from some of the shows was he started to install people on the shows who became anti-Trump," Mariotti told Front Office Sports. In a recent post on his own Substack, "Around the Horn ended a long time ago when I left the show," Mariotti reiterated that some of the panelists went "woke" while others were "on dope."There are now just 11 episodes left of the show, which is over 20 years old.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
