Actress Charlize Theron warns 'people will lose their lives' over Trump's foreign aid cuts
Actress Charlize Theron was furious at the Trump administrations foreign aid cuts on Saturday and claimed they were already responsible for many deaths."The world feels like its burning because it is," Theron said at the annual Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Program Block Party, according to Variety.Although she didnt mention President Donald Trump by name, the 49-year-old Oscar winner appeared to reference efforts by him and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut foreign aid spending through USAID funds.CHARLIZE THERON TURNS HEADS IN SHEER FISHNET CATSUIT AHEAD OF MILESTONE 50TH BIRTHDAYTrump also signed an executive order in February cutting all foreign aid to South Africa, citing concerns about the country "seizing" ethnic minority Afrikaners agricultural property and alleged racial discrimination."Foreign aid cuts brought HIV and AIDS programs in my home country of South Africa to an absolute standstill," Theron said. "All of this is not just detrimental, its dangerous. People will lose their lives. Many have already, unfortunately, and at a frightening rate. Its absolutely heartbreaking to see this kind of unnecessary suffering."Theron also criticized recent immigration raids in Los Angeles and claimed that women and LGBTQ people are also under threat of "being erased.""Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we are moving backwards fast. Immigration policy is destroying the lives of families, not criminals. Womens rights are becoming less and less every day, queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased, and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isnt just policy, its personal. F--- them," she said.BONOS 300,000 DEAD CLAIM OVER USAID CUTS GETS SMACKED DOWN BY ROGAN, MUSK: LIAR/IDIOTHowever, Theron emphasized that there is hope in "standing up, organizing, protesting, voting and caring for each other, and refusing to accept that this is the new normal." Ukraine moves toward withdrawing from treaty banning anti-personnel mines
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree withdrawing his country from an international agreement banning the use of anti-personnel mines on Monday. The 1997 Ottawa Convention bans the use, production, stockpiling, and transfer of anti-personnel landmines under the reasoning that it causes too much danger to civilians after hostilities have ended. Ukraine was one of roughly 160 countries that had agreed to the treaty, though Russia never did."Russia has never been a party to this convention and uses anti-personnel mines extremely cynically," Zelenskyy said in a statement. "And not only now, in the war against Ukraine. This is the signature style of Russian killers to destroy life by all methods at their disposal."Zelenskyy's announcement is not the final step in formally withdrawing from the treaty, however, as Ukraine's parliament must now vote on the issue.RUSSIAN OFFICIAL SAYS MOSCOW HAS 'NO INTENTION' OF SUPPLYING IRAN WITH WARHEADS, FOLLOWING TRUMP TAUNTSUkraine has suffered greatly in recent years from Russia's own use of anti-personnel landmines. Regions that Ukrainian forces have liberated from Russian invaders have been strewn with the devices, leading to injuries for both civilians and soldiers.News of Kyiv's pending withdrawal comes just a day after Moscow fired 537 aerial weapons toward Ukraine, including 477 drones and decoys and 60 missiles, according to Ukraine's air force. Ukraine said it was the largest aerial attack so far in the war.Among the weapons, 249 were shot down and 226 were lost, likely electronically jammed.ZELENSKYY POINTEDLY THANKS TRUMP, AMERICA FOR UKRAINE SUPPORT MONTHS AFTER VANCE'S JAB ABOUT LACK OF GRATITUDEThe attack was "the most massive airstrike" against Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022, Yuriy Ihnat, head of communications for Ukraines air force, told the Associated Press, taking into account both drones and various types of missiles.Several regions were targeted, including western Ukraine, located far from the front line.Poland and allied countries scrambled aircraft to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, Poland's air force said. One person was killed in a drone strike in the Kherson region, according to Gov. Oleksandr Prokudin, while another died when a drone hit a car in the Kharkiv region, its Gov. Oleh Syniehubov said. Six people were wounded in Cherkasy, including a child, regional Gov. Ihor Taburets said.Ukraines air force said one of its F-16 warplanes supplied by the West crashed after sustaining damage as it was shooting down air targets, killing the pilot.Fox News' Landon Mion contributed to this report

McDonald's prices from 1991 ignite discussion among nostalgic millennials: 'It tasted better, too'
A group of millennials recently took to Reddit to reminisce about how cheap fast food used to be, as well as lament how much the price has risen since their childhoods. On a popular subreddit filled with 800,000 users born between 1981 and 1996, a recent post focused on the price of food in 1991.A user shared a graphic stating that a McDonald's feast once cost only $12, including 99 cents for medium fries, 79 cents for a cheeseburger and $1.85 for a Big Mac.FAST-FOOD MENU ITEMS THAT CHEFS LIKE TO EATThe graphic showed that a Filet-o-Fish cost just $1.29 in 1991 and a medium drink went for 89 cents. The post was upvoted by over 5,200 users and attracted over 400 commenters with varied reactions. Many of the Redditors said they fondly remembered the old prices and the quality of the food."Anyone remember the 29-cent hamburgers and 39-cent cheeseburgers?" one person asked.MCDONALD'S CHEF REVEALS WHY COFFEE FROM FAST-FOOD GIANT TASTES SO GOOD"This is my childhood," another Redditor responded. "Two quarters for a cheeseburger and change.""And it tasted better, too," a third person said.Users also mourned the McDonald's dollar menu, which has dwindled in size since 1991."I feel like the sweet spot for McDonald's was 2008. The dollar menu was insane," one person said.MCDONALD'S IS MOST POPULAR FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT BY GOOGLE SEARCHES, SAYS STUDY"Today in California, the McChicken is a little over $4," a Golden State resident chimed in.Others were skeptical of the graphic's claims, thinking that current prices were reasonable when taking inflation into account. The graphic does contradict the Big Mac Index, which holds that the average cost of a Big Mac with tax was $2.25."McChicken was $1 in [the] early 2000s, how is it more expensive in 1991?" one person said.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER"These prices don't look right to me," a former employee observed. "I worked at McDonald's in 2005 and some of this food was cheaper in 2005 than it was in 1991??""Twelve dollars was not cheap in 1991," another user argued. One person on Reddit took matters into his or her own hands and recreated the order while factoring in all the coupons and deals that the McDonald's app offers. The user found that the deals made prices pretty similar to what they were in the early '90s.For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"I used the app and recreated this order [The] cost is $26.26 after all deals and taxes," the user said. The commenter added, "According to a U.S. Inflation calculator I googled, $12.07 in '91 would be about $28.49 today. Seems pretty on point, but I would guess the cost is made up in quality and/or quantity."McDonald's, headquartered in Chicago, told Fox News Digital in a statement that great value "has always been part of McDonald's DNA, and that commitment remains strong today.""The company and our franchisees, who own and operate over 95% of U.S. restaurants, work hard to keep everyday prices affordable for our customers," the company said."And with our McValue offerings like the popular Meal Deal bundle, Buy One Add One for $1, and countless other local and digital deals it's never been easier to get more for less when you visit McDonald's."

Author floats 'fascinating' possibility of Caitlin Clark being focal point of breakaway basketball league
Caitlin Clarks popularity is the highest its even been, and the second-year Indiana Fever player will only have more eyes on her as she continues to build out her legacy in the WNBA.The rise in fame has come with some hard licks on the court. Clark was in plenty of skirmishes during her rookie season, taking bumps on shots and being on the receiving end on hard screens. So much so that she admitted to a busted eardrum and had a black eye at one point. This season, Clark was already knocked down in brouhahas with opponents.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMClark fans have suggested that the lack of protection for the Fever sharpshooter could lead her toward building her own professional basketball league. Christine Brennan, the author of "On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Womens Sports," talked about the potential of that happening in an interview on ESPN Los Angeles last week."Nike loves her. Shes got Wilson, obviously. Shes got Gatorade," she said, via the New York Post. "Even though the salarys $76,000 for a rookie its more this year now shes making $28 million from Nike alone, according to the Wall Street Journal. So shes at $40 million, whatever. OK, fine, shes doing great. And if Nike said, Were going to make the Nike-Clark league, it would obviously take a few years to get the arenas and whatever.FEVER'S SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM DROPS 'NO ONE LIKES US' TAKE AS INDIANA DEALS WITH ADVERSITY"But you know the TV contract. I mean, its Caitlin. Again, the TV viewership, its Caitlin Clark. Its not Angel (Reese) and Caitlin. Its Cailtin. Its Caitlin Clark only. And I think Angels a great rebounder and excellent at what she does, but she doesnt move the needle on TV ratings. Its Caitlin. And they could do it. I think they could absolutely put it together in a couple of years. And Ill stay on that because I agree with you. Its fascinating, and its doable because of the void in the vacuum of leadership the WNBA continues to exhibit."Clark didnt participate in the offseason Unrivaled league, but the league and WNBA players are set to enter bitter collective bargaining negotiations very soon. For Clark, shes set to be a WNBA All-Star captain. Shes averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5 rebounds per game despite missing several games due to injuries.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

I lost my 16-year-old son to suicide from addictive AI algorithms. We can't let Big Tech destroy our children
This story discusses suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).When my 16-year-old son Mason was going through a painful breakup, he did what many kids of his generation do: He turned to TikTok.Mason used the social media site to search for positive affirmations and inspirational quotes. Instead, TikToks algorithm sent him the most horrific content urging suicide and self-harm. In November 2022, Mason took his own life. What I found on his phone haunts me to this day, and TikTok and all social media platforms should be held accountable when their algorithms and design lead to significant harm.Imagine my dismay when I learned that Congress, without public debate and under the radar, is now quietly pushing a sweeping federal moratorium that would block states from protecting kids from addictive algorithms that push pro-suicide and other harmful content and prevent acting on the next generation of online threats, even as tragic stories are already piling up.FEDERAL AI POWER GRAB COULD END STATE PROTECTIONS FOR KIDS AND WORKERSThe moratorium is buried in a massive tech package, moving fast and with little scrutiny, before most Americans even realize whats at stake. This moratorium would prohibit states from enforcing nearly any law related to AI including laws that "regulate automated decision making."That means blocking bills designed to empower parents, require safe default settings, require age verification and curb addictive design features. It would halt laws like Floridas Online Protections for Minors Act relating to online access to materials harmful to minors (HB 3).It would limit New Yorks Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) for Kids Act (S7694A), which prevents companies from providing kids and teens addictive, data-driven algorithmic feeds without parental consent.META REPEATEDLY ENDANGERS CHILDREN WHILE PARENTS REMAIN SIDELINEDIt would stop Utahs Minor Protection in Social Media Act (S.B. 194), which requires companies not to recommend or share minors social media accounts and data to users they are not connected with. The harms arent hypothetical. Just ask Megan Garcia, whose teenage son died after being targeted by AI-generated content. Or the countless families grappling with deepfakes used in sextortion, or with children drawn into relationships with AI "companions" that encourage isolation and self-harm. AI is already being used to manipulate, addict and deceive kids, and there are no guardrails.Advocates may argue a federal AI framework is "right around the corner." Weve heard similar arguments before on privacy, on data, on content moderation for 20 years. Two decades of saying "just wait," while kids suffer, is no excuse to strip states rights.Congress has not passed a single law to protect kids online in over 25 years. Now it wants to take away the rights of states that have taken action, while framing AI as a global race to the finish line that overrides our childrens safety.'BIG, BEAUTIFUL' BILL COULD GIVE A FREE PASS FOR BIG TECH TO KILL JOBSBig Tech argues that a patchwork of state laws will stifle innovation but whats really at stake isnt innovation, its accountability. These companies dont want 50 sets of rules because they dont want any rules. Plus, theyve found allies in Congress willing to silence the states that have stepped up to protect families. This moratorium is not just preemption of commonsense legislation to protect our young its a total giveaway to Big Tech, done in the name of "innovation" and massive profits while ignoring the cost in lives. There is a bipartisan amendment to strip this moratorium thatwould halt this reckless overreach and keep the door open for states to act when federal lawmakers wont. All members of Congress should support this amendment before another child dies due to online harms. Saving kids' lives is not a political issue, it is a moral and human issue.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWe know what happens when Congress lets Big Tech regulate itself. Nothing. Kids suffer, and families like mine are left to pick up the pieces. We need real safeguards for kids, not backroom deals that silence the only people taking real action to protect kids: parents, advocates and state leaders. This moratorium is a smokescreen for Big Tech to do as it pleases, and it must be stopped from becoming law.

Iran acknowledges death toll from Israel's strike on notorious Evin prison
Iran acknowledged on Sunday that an Israeli strike on Tehrans notorious Evin prison last week killed dozens of people.Irans judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir posted on the offices official Mizan news agency website that the strike killed at least 71 people, including staff, soldiers, prisoners and members of visiting families. Officials did not provide a breakdown of casualty figures. The Washington-based Human Rights Activists in Iran said at least 35 of those killed were staff members and two were inmates. Others killed included a person walking in the prison vicinity and a woman who went to meet a judge about her imprisoned husbands case, the organization said.Jahangir said some of the injured were treated on site, while others were taken to hospitals. Iran has not said how many were injured.NEW SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS ONGOING ACTIVITY AT IRAN'S FORDOW NUCLEAR COMPLEX AFTER US AIRSTRIKESIran had also confirmed on Saturday that top prosecutor Ali Ghanaatkar had been killed in the attack. Ghanaatkars prosecution of dissidents, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi, had led to widespread criticism by human rights groups.Israel carried out the strike on June 23 as its Defense Ministry said it was attacking "regime targets and government repression bodies in the heart of Tehran." The facility was known to hold many of Irans political prisoners and dissidents. The prison attack came near the end of 12 days of Israeli strikes, which Israel claimed killed around 30 Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists, while hitting eightnuclear-related facilitiesand more than 720 military infrastructure sites.IRAN'S NUCLEAR CAPABILITIES CRUSHED, BUT REGIME'S DESIRE FOR THE BOMB MAY PERSISTThe status of Irans nuclear program remains unclear, even after President Donald Trump said American strikes on June 22 "obliterated" Irans nuclear capabilities.Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told CBS "Face the Nation" in an interview Sunday that Iran's capacities remain, but it is impossible to assess the full damage to the nuclear program unless inspectors are allowed in, which Iranian officials have not authorized."It is clear that there has been severe damage, but its not total damage, first of all. And secondly, Iran has the capacities there, industrial and technological capacities. So if they so wish, they will be able to start doing this again," Grossi said.Grossi said Iran could have centrifuges spinning enriched uranium "in a matter of months.""Frankly speaking, one cannot claim that everything has disappeared and there is nothing there," he said. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
