Americans at risk 'anywhere' after 6 illegal immigrants are charged in mother's murder: congressman
A South Carolina congressman is warning of threats that face Americans "anywhere" after four years of an open border following the random murder of a Lancaster mom of two last month. The comments come after Lancaster authorities charged six illegal immigrants, between the ages of 13 and 21, in connection with Larisha Thompson's May 2 murder. She was shot to death while driving to meet friends in Rock Hill."Two children will not have a mother to come home to," Republican South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman told Fox News Digital in a phone interview. "It can happen anywhere, at any time. That's the sad part. We've seen it all over the country."He added that while Laken Riley, the Augusta University student killed by illegal Venezuelan migrant Jose Ibarra in February 2024, has become "the face" of crimes committed by those living illegally in the United States, there are similar victims in states across the country, including Thompson and others, such as Lizbeth Medina, Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin and Kayla Hamilton.SIX MIGRANTS CHARGED IN SC MOMS MURDER DETAILED CRIME IN EERIE MESSAGES: JUST THE BEGINNING"The positive thing is: the border's secure now, but you've got to realize: four years of leaving the doors open to over 160 countries to put criminals and anybody else that wanted to come into the country," Norman said. "You wouldn't open your house up like that. Yet the Democrats are still not condemning what Joe Biden intentionally did. But it's a new day, and hopefully, [it is] going to be straightened out in time."Lancaster County Sheriffs Office deputies located Thompson, 40, deceased with a gunshot wound behind the wheel of her vehicle on Riverside Road in Lancaster, which is located about an hour south of Charlotte, North Carolina.JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TELLS FEDERAL JUDGE IT MIGHT INVOKE STATE SECRETS ACT ON HIGH-PROFILE DEPORTATION CASEOn May 12, authorities announced the arrests of three adults Asael Aminadas Torres-Chirinos, 21, Jarby Ardon Ramos-Odari, 18, and Jeyson Sobied Pineda-Salgado, 17 and three juveniles, ages 13, 14 and 15, in connection with Thompson's death and a separate burglary that occurred on April 30."The unknown is what we fear," Norman said when asked about people with criminal intentions who may have crossed illegally into the United States during the Biden administration. "When you hear [FBI Director] Kash Patel talk about threats the fact is that they're doing their best, but we don't know who's here. And we're getting a lot of them out, but there's still the unknown of who's left here. And that's the problem. How many more deaths do we have to have that are just so senseless?"Norman said he hopes prosecutors pursue the death penalty against the adult suspects accused of murdering Thompson."South Carolina is a great state," Norman said, but added that people have "got to be aware" and "diligent."SIX ILLEGAL MIGRANTS CHARGED IN SOUTH CAROLINA MOTHER'S MURDER DEFY 'DECENCY' IN 'CIVILIZED SOCIETY': SHERIFFLancaster Sheriff Barry Faile said Thompson's "shooting defies any sense of decency in a civilized society," during a May press conference."Ms. Thompson was going about her business on a Friday night, not bothering anyone. All of a sudden, these six men and boys out to get something for nothing from someone they did not know and had no business bothering pulled alongside her car, and Torres-Chirinos opened fire, killing Ms. Thompson," Faile said at the time. "Theres no place in our society for acts like this or the people who commit them, and my hope is these six are never again among us."The Department of Homeland Security has placed detainers on all six individuals charged, Faile said during a press conference, adding that the community is a "much safer place today because these six individuals are off the streets."Faile alleged that the suspects pulled up alongside Thompson and fatally shot her in what authorities described as a "random robbery attempt." Authorities believe the other five suspects were in the vehicle with Torres-Chirinos, who was driving and allegedly fired the fatal shot at Thompson. They are accused of attempting to enter her vehicle and then fleeing the scene upon realizing that it was locked.ICE ARRESTS 422 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN HOUSTON SWEEP, INCLUDING SUSPECTS WANTED FOR MURDER, ARSONOn April 30, deputies were dispatched to the Van Wyck Mart at 644 Rock Hill Highway before 8 a.m. to investigate a burglary. The store owner told deputies that surveillance video footage showed several young men trying to get into the store around 10:30 p.m. on April 29. When they could not get inside, they allegedly broke open a door on the northwest corner of the building, which opened up to a bathroom that had access to the inside of the store. The suspects are also accused of firing a handgun at a security camera and the bathroom door. Detectives collected ballistics evidence at the scene. The store the suspects allegedly broke into and the location of Thompson's murder are a seven-minute drive apart. Detectives determined that ballistic evidence recovered from the scene of the murder came from the same 9 mm handgun used at the burglary days before.SOUTHERN BORDER APPREHENSIONS PLUNGE MORE THAN 90% FROM A YEAR AGO IN APRIL, CBP SAYSThrough digital surveillance, investigators also identified Torres-Chirinos at the scene of both crimes. They questioned him at the sheriff's office on May 8, and by the end of that day, they had identified, located and detained the five additional suspects. The three adult suspects are charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and second-degree burglary. Authorities believe Torres-Chirinos fired the handgun in both incidents, and he is charged with two counts of firearms possession during the commission of a crime and one count of firearms possession by an unlawful alien. A judge denied bond for all three men.The three juvenile suspects are also charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and second-degree burglary.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPAll six suspects are subject to removal from the United States under federal immigration law based on their immigration status, the sheriff's office said.Thompson's family is "grieving and trying to get their heads around how something like this could happen," Faile added.

Colorado funeral home owner sentenced to 20 years after stashing nearly 190 decaying bodies
The owner of a Colorado funeral home received the maximum prison sentence after he was found guilty of stashing nearly 190 bodies in a decrepit building and sending families fake ashes instead of their loved ones.Jon Hallford, owner of Return to Nature Funeral Home, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Friday for cheating customers and defrauding the federal government out of nearly $900,000 in COVID-19 aid. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in federal court last year.Separately, Hallford pleaded guilty to 191 counts of corpse abuse in state court and will be sentenced in August.During Friday's hearing, federal prosecutors asked for a 15-year sentence while Hallfords attorney requested 10 years.MIXED-UP REMAINS, ROTTING BODIES, FAKE ASHES: HOW GRIEVING FAMILIES UNCOVERED THESE FIVE FUNERAL HOME HORRORSJudge Nina Wang said that despite the case only focusing on a single fraud charge, the circumstances and scale of Hallford's crime, as well as the emotional impact on the families, warranted the maximum sentence."This is not an ordinary fraud case," she said.Ahead of the sentencing, Hallford told the judge that he opened the funeral home to make a positive impact on people's lives before "everything got completely out of control, especially me.""I am so deeply sorry for my actions," he said. "I still hate myself for what Ive done."Hallford and his wife, Carie, were accused of storing the bodies between 2019 and 2023 and sending families fake ashes. Investigators found the bodies in 2023 stacked on top of each other throughout a squat, bug-infested building in Penrose, Colorado.COLORADO 'GREEN' FUNERAL HOME OWNERS ARRESTED FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF 190 DECAYING BODIES: POLICEInvestigators could not move into some rooms because the bodies were piled so high and in various states of decay. FBI agents had to put boards down so they could walk above the fluid. Many families learned after the discovery that their loved ones were not cremated and that the ashes they had received were fake. In two cases, the wrong body was buried. Some relatives had nightmares, others have struggled with guilt and at least one wondered about their loved one's soul.Victim Colton Sperry spoke during Friday's sentencing and told the judge about his grandmother, who he said was a second mother to him and died in 2019, according to The Associated Press. Her body was inside the Return to Nature building for four years until the discovery, which Sperry said pushed him into depression. He said he told his parents at the time, "If I die too, I could meet my grandma in heaven and talk to her again." He was eventually taken to the hospital for a mental health check, which led to therapy and an emotional support dog."I miss my grandma so much," he told the judge in tears.Federal prosecutors accused both Hallfords of pandemic aid fraud, siphoning the money and spending it and customers' payments on a GMC Yukon and Infiniti worth over $120,000 combined, as well as $31,000 in cryptocurrency, luxury items from stores such as Gucci and Tiffany & Co., and laser body sculpting.COLORADO FUNERAL HOME OWNERS WHO ABANDONED BODIES SPENT CREMATION, BURIAL MONEY ON VEHICLES, $1,500 DINNERAnother victim, Derrick Johnson, told the judge that he traveled 3,000 miles to testify about how his mother was "thrown into a festering sea of death," The AP reported."I lie awake wondering, was she naked? Was she stacked on top of others like lumber?" said Johnson."While the bodies rotted in secret, (the Hallfords) lived, they laughed and they dined," he added. "My mom's cremation money likely helped pay for a cocktail, a day at the spa, a first-class flight."Carie Hallford is scheduled to go to trial in the federal case in September, the same month as her next hearing in the state case in which she is also charged with 191 counts of corpse abuse. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Bartenders spill the beans on Gen Z's 'annoying' drink-by-drink payment habit
In bars across America, fewer young bargoers those born in the late 1990s or early 2000s are opening tabs, instead choosing to close out and pay after every drink, The New York Times recently reported.Does the trend bother bartenders? Fox News Digital asked a few for their thoughts."Is it annoying to close out the tab after every single drink for bartenders? And the answer is yes. Unequivocally, that is annoying," said Derek Brown, a bartender and founder of Drink Company, a hospitality consulting agency in Washington, D.C.SPLITTING A RESTAURANT BILL WITH FRIENDS? EXPERT SHARES 'MOST DESIRABLE' APPROACH"You have so many things to do as a bartender throughout your shift, and closing out the tab, if you have to do it throughout the evening when somebody's ordering two, three drinks it takes time, and it's frustrating and annoying."Today's younger generation isn't the first to annoy bartenders, Brown clarified."Every generation has its quirk," he said.Still, while it may not seem like a big deal to customers, closing out after every drink is a nuisance to those on the other side of the bar, especially when things are busy, Brown said."When somebody comes in and says, 'I'll take a cocktail,' great, and then somebody comes behind and says, 'I'll close it out,' you have to turn around, you have to go to the [point-of-sale machine], and you have to turn around and go back to making drinks," Brown said.CRAFT BREWERS NAVIGATE RISING COSTS WITHOUT PASSING HEFTY PRICE HIKES TO CUSTOMERS"All of this while being congenial, keeping a smile, making sure people are taken care of it can be just a really, really annoying habit between all the other things you have to do. But it is part of the job."Some younger people claim that paying as they go is a better way to manage their drinking money."This is the positive side of this, right?" Brown said. "If you're closing out every time, it's true. You're going to be able to monitor how much alcohol you're drinking throughout the evening."Brown said "fiscal responsibility" is important from the consumer perspective."Once you've had two drinks, then the third one comes a lot faster and easier," he said.Others have expressed concerns about leaving their credit cards behind or in the hands of the bartender. One way bars solved this problem was with a new system in which a customer's card is swiped once and then immediately returned.RESTAURANT TIPPING ETIQUETTE: SHOULD YOU TIP FOR FAST FOOD OR TAKEOUT?"In that case, it's not that difficult," Brown said. "You keep your card. You put it in your pocket. That's what we learned."Still, nothing stops a person from paying drink by drink."Somebody can just keep asking to open and close it [all] evening," Brown said. "We just have to smile and do our best."Another reason for the decline in bar tabs could be that fewer young adults, in general, are drinking.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERA 2023 Gallup poll found that 62% of adults under age 35 say they drink, a 10% decrease over the previous 20 years.Katie Fites, a former bartender in Tallahassee and recent graduate of Florida State University, said she doesn't have a blanket rule when deciding whether she's going to open a bar tab."It depends on what kind of night I'm trying to have," she told Fox News Digital."If I know that my friends and I are going to be staying in one spot for the night, I will leave a tab open. But if I think that we're going to be bouncing around and there's a possibility I'll forget I've left my tab open and leave, I will not leave my tab open."For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyleFites worked at a popular college bar that didn't allow tabs so most people paid in cash. Those who did pay with a card, however, were subject to a $10 minimum.Card payments can not only slow down bartenders on a busy night, they can also be costly to a bar owner's bottom line.Credit card fees, which range from, on average, 2% to 4% of the transaction, are assessed with every swipe, according to Doug Kantor with the Merchants Payments Coalition (MPC).CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThese swipe fees totaled a record $187.2 billion in 2024, an increase of 70% since the pandemic, per the MPC.That means less money for the bars.

Majority of adults support religious chaplains in public schools, new report shows
A majority of U.S. adults support religious chaplains in public schools, a new poll shows. The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research released a report showing that over half of adults think schools should be allowed to have chaplains available to provide support services. The survey further revealed that less than half agreed with teachers leading a class in prayer.Republicans are more likely than Democrats to support religious chaplains having a role in schools, teacher-led prayers, and prayer in class.PARENTS AND STUDENTS NEED SCHOOL CHOICE, NOT RELIGIOUS BIGOTRYA majority of adults agree that parents have "too little" influence on their children's education and that the federal government is too involved in public schools. About half said that teachers have "too little" influence on children's education and the state government has too much.As for the difference between Republicans and Democrats' views on parents' and teachers' influence in the classroom, Republicans seem to want parents to have more influence in the classroom, versus Democrats who want teachers to have more influence. The survey came after the Supreme Court ruled against allowingpublic funds to go directly to religious charter schools, sparking a debate on the integration ofreligion in taxpayer-funded institutions and public schools.SUPREME COURT TO HEAR ARGUMENTS ON SCHOOL CHOICE CASE INVOLVING CATHOLIC CHARTER SCHOOL"Attitudes about the role of religion in school are often shared across religious groups, especially White evangelical Christians and non-White Protestants, even though they have different partisan alignments," the report from the NORC stated. It explained further, "More people oppose than support policies that would allow religious schools to become tax-funded public charter schools, but there is about equal support and opposition for a policy that would allow school vouchers to be used at private or religious schools."Texas became the first state to allow school chaplains under a law passed in 2023, leading to over 1,200 school districts to review policy weighing whether to permit chaplains as employees or volunteers. Florida and Louisiana followed suit shortly after in 2024, passing similar legislation.Since Texas passed the legislation, at least 30 bills in 16 states have proposed allowing chaplains in public schools as volunteers or employees.

I'm a Christian pastor who was born in Egypt. Here are 3 facts I learned about Iran's nuclear obsession
I grew up in a Christian community in Egypt. Like many other families, we suffered firsthand under the oppressive rule of the Islamo-socialist regime of Gamal Abdel Nasser, chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council of Egypt. Later, Nassers military dictatorship controlled every aspect of our lives. As a young man, I escaped the repression of Nassers Egypt and made my way to freedom in America. Having lived under Islamo-socialism in Egypt, I have a deep compassion for the suffering people of Iran. They only want to live in peace. But the leaders of Iran are committed to a death-cult ideologyand to a nuclear showdown with Western civilization. Here are three key facts that show why Irans radical clerics will never abandon their nuclear obsession: Fact No. 1: A nuclear-armed Iran cannot be deterred by Cold War nuclear doctrines.During the Cold War, the logic of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) kept nuclear superpowers in check. Every president, premier, and prime minister knew that launching a nuclear attack would invite annihilation.TRUMP WOULD STRIKE IRAN 'WITHOUT QUESTION' IF IT RESTARTS NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAMIve heard people say, "Were already living with a nuclear-armed North Korea and a nuclear-armed Pakistan. Would a nuclear-armed Iran be any worse?"In fact, a nuclear-armed Iran would be infinitely worse. The reason is that Shiite Islamthe ruling ideology in Iranmakes Cold War doctrines of deterrence obsolete. Heres why:Fact No. 2: Irans leaders have a religious incentive to launch Armageddon.Ive spent countless hours talking to Sunni and Shiite Muslims in the Middle East. I also studied cultural anthropology at Emory University, with a focus on radical Islamic movements. My research was published in a textbook, "Revolt against Modernity." I believe its vitally important that we in the West understand Islamic history and Islamic beliefs.Islam is divided into several sects, most notably Sunnis and Shiites. In 1501, the Safavid rulers of the Persian Empire declared Twelver Shiite Islam the official state religion, distinguishing Persia from its Sunni neighbors. After Persia was renamed Iran in 1935, Twelver Shiism remained the official faith.HERES WHAT A POST-AYATOLLAH IRAN COULD LOOK LIKE IF WAR WITH ISRAEL LEADS TO REGIMES FALLTwelver Shiism is the largest branch of Shia Islam, and is defined by its belief in twelve divinely ordained Imams (rightful successors to Muhammad). The last Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi, supposedly went into occultation (a miraculously hidden state) in the 9th century. Twelvers claim the Mahdi will one day reappear to establish global justice. Many of Irans clerics fervently believe that, before the Mahdi can be revealed, an apocalyptic battle must be fought between faithful Muslims and the forces of evil. As a result, some Iranian leadersand possibly the Ayatollah himselfare motivated to trigger a nuclear war to fulfill the ancient prophecies and force the appearance of the hidden Mahdi.Iran officially denies having a nuclear weapons program. In October 2003, Irans Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, issued a fatwa stating that nuclear weapons are forbidden under Islam. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), however, claims Iran has enough highly enriched uranium to build nine nuclear warheads. Shiite Islam invented a religious/judicial doctrine called Taqiyya, which necessitates deceiving your enemies until you have the upper hand.IRAN, ISRAEL AND US AGREE THAT ISLAMIC REPUBLIC NUCLEAR SITES WERE 'BADLY DAMAGED' DESPITE LEAKED INTEL REPORTThe recent attacks by Israel and the United States against Irans nuclear facilities have dealt a serious setback to the clerics nuclear ambitionsbut dont be misled. Irans Twelver Shiite clerics will never abandon their fanatical dream of launching a final war and revealing the long-hidden Mahdi.Fact No. 3: A nuclear-armed Iran threatens not only Israel, but all of Western civilization.Iran has shown that its missiles are capable of penetrating Israels Iron Dome defense systems. Imagine if those missiles carried nuclear warheads! Even more troubling, Iran is aggressively developing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) through its space launch vehicle (SLV) program.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, Lt. Gen. Robert Ashley, told Congress that Iran could use its SLV program to work "toward an ICBM capability." Whenever Iran tests a satellite launch vehicle, its flexing its ability to threaten Europe and North America. The Iranian clerics have made their goal clear: "Death to Israel! Death to America!" But we in the West do not seek the death of Iran. We only want the Iranian people to be free from theocratic oppression. The people of Iran have repeatedly risen up against the Islamist regimethe 1999 Student Protests, the 2019 "Bloody November" protests, the 2022 womens rights protests, and many others. Each time the people rose up, the government brutally extinguished their cries for freedom.I trust and hope that another uprising comes soon, and that the people of Iran achieve their liberation. And I also hope that the leaders of the United States, Europe, and Israel do everything in their power to speed the arrival of that day.

Trump, lawmakers react after 'big, beautiful bill' clears Senate hurdle
Lawmakers from across the aisle are reacting to President Donald Trumps "big, beautiful bill" passing a key Senate vote on Saturday night.Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., who flipped his vote from a no to yes in dramatic fashion, said in a statement that the mammoth bill is a "necessary first step" to fiscal sustainability and cleaning up the mess left by the Biden administration."Biden and the Democrats left behind enormous messes that we are trying to clean up an open border, wars, and massive deficits," Johnson said. "After working for weeks with President Trump and his highly capable economic team, I am convinced that he views this as a necessary first step and will support my efforts to help put America on a path to fiscal sustainability."The 51-49 vote went along party lines, with only Sens. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., andRand Paul, R-Ky., voting against unlocking a marathon 20-hour debate on the bill.SENATE REPUBLICANS RAM TRUMP'S BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL THROUGH KEY TEST VOTESenate Minority LeaderChuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was among the Democrats against what he called a "radical" bill."Senate Republicans are scrambling to pass a radical bill, released to the public in the dead of night, praying the American people dont realize whats in it," Schumer said in a statement. "If Senate Republicans wont tell the American people whats in this bill, then Democrats are going to force this chamber to read it from start to finish."The bill will not immediately be debated thanks to Senate Democrats' plan to force the reading of the entire, 940-page legislative behemoth on the Senate floor.Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., however, said he was "proud" to work with Trump on the bill and "put our nation on a path to balance the budget after years of Democrats reckless spending."TRUMP'S 'BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL' FACES REPUBLICAN FAMILY FEUD AS SENATE REVEALS ITS FINAL TEXTTrump has said that he wants the bill, which must pass the Senate before being sent to the House for a vote, on his desk by July 4.Trump called the Senate vote a "great victory" and directly praised Sens. Johnson, Scott, Mike Lee, R-Ariz., and Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., in a post on his Truth Social platform."They, along with all of the other Republican Patriots who voted for the Bill, are people who truly love our Country!" Trump wrote. "As President of the USA, I am proud of them all, and look forward to working with them to GROW OUR ECONOMY, REDUCE WASTEFUL SPENDING, SECURE OUR BORDER, FIGHT FOR OUR MILITARY/VETS, ENSURE THAT OUR MEDICAID SYSTEM HELPS THOSE WHO TRULY NEED IT, PROTECT OUR SECOND AMENDMENT, AND SO MUCH MORE. Rockefeller heir vanished in tribal waters after eerie last words
Over 60 years after an heir of one of Americas wealthiest families vanished off the coast of a remote island inhabited by cannibals, questions still swirl over what may have caused his untimely disappearance or death.Michael Rockefeller, the youngest son of then-New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, was just 23 years old and a recent Harvard graduate when he departed for a months-long trip to the island of Dutch New Guinea, a region inhabited by the Asmat, to collect indigenous art for a Museum of Primitive Art exhibition. The Asmat people were particularly talented in woodcarving, decorating elaborate spirit masks and ancestor "bisj" poles. Despite their artistic beauty, they were also known for headhunting and cannibalism, rooted in their spiritual beliefs.MYSTERIOUS BONES THAT WASHED UP ON JERSEY SHORE FINALLY IDENTIFIED 180 YEARS AFTER TRAGEDYIn 1961, Rockefeller and anthropologist Ren Wassing were seven months into the excursion when their catamaran overturned in rough waters, leaving the pair and two local teenagers clinging to the wreckage. In an attempt to save their lives, the young art collector decided to swim to shore in search of help and was never seen again."When people vanish, it is incredibly unsatisfying and there's no closure," Carl Hoffman, author of "Savage Harvest," told Fox News Digital. "Just as Amelia Earhart remains fascinating to people, so is the death of Michael Rockefeller."Hoffman, whose novel dives into the tale of Rockefeller and the lives of the Asmat, spent years pouring over archival materials and meeting with villagers in the region before coming to his own conclusion regarding what may have happened in the 23-year-olds final moments.SKULL OF LEGENDARY MEDIEVAL KING MAY HAVE BEEN UNEARTHED AT RUINED CHURCH: EXPERTAfter the travel partys homemade catamaran flipped, leaving the group to drift in the ocean for over 24 hours, Rockefeller strapped empty gasoline cans to his waist and swam for help."Michael said, I'm going to do it, I am going to swim," Hoffman said. "And his last words, as Wassing reported them, were, I think I can make it."While Wassing was rescued by the Dutch government, a two-week search failed to find Rockefeller.NEW ENGLAND SERIAL KILLER: CT RIVER VALLEY SURVIVOR STABBED 27 TIMES WARNS LOCALS TO REMAIN 'VIGILANT'Different theories surround his disappearance such as an untimely brush with a shark or crocodile with the vast majority of speculation landing on the belief that the young adventurer drowned as he swam for his life."The most sensational rumor was that he had encountered men from the Asmat and they had killed and eaten him," Hoffman said. "It was always this great mystery."Hoffmans research revealed two priests in the region who heard rumors that Rockefeller had encountered members of a nearby tribe upon arriving on the island."[They] immediately started hearing stories that men from one particular village the village from Ochenep had been at the mouth of a river," Hoffman told Fox News Digital. "[They] had encountered an exhausted [Rockefeller] swimming up to them, and they had killed him, taken him to a very specific place and performed the sacred Asmat rituals on him in order to restore balance."POLICE INVESTIGATE VESSEL WITH 11 DECOMPOSED BODIES WASHED ASHORE IN CARIBBEANAccording to Hoffman, the priests documented their findings, but the reports were only ever shown to the Dutch government and the apostolic vicar the highest Catholic official in the Netherlands. The Rockefeller family was reportedly made aware of the rumors, resulting in them reaching out to Dutch officials, who allegedly swept the claims under the rug.The young Rockefellers passion for indigenous art is reflected in the newly renovated Michael C. Rockefeller Wing of New York Citys Metropolitan Museum of Art. The wing showcases 16 galleries of art, including works from Oceania, Africa and the ancient Americas."Opened to the public in 1982, the addition was named after Nelson Rockefeller's son, Michael C. Rockefeller, who was greatly inspired by the cultures and art of the Pacific and pursued new avenues of inquiry into artistic practice during his travels there," according to the Met's website. "Among the wing's signature works are the striking Asmat sculptures he researched and collected in southwest New Guinea."The Met did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. While the mystery surrounding Rockefellers disappearance may never be solved, his legacy will live on through the artwork of the people who may have been the ones to end his life."There was nothing primitive about the Asmat at all," Hoffman said. "They were this fantastically rich, complex culture that had 17 tenses and produced this art that was a direct view into archetypes and of the human unconscious, the human mind and that's a fantastic thing. It's mind-opening, and it's mind-expanding, and its inspiring."
