Bill Maher praises pro-Trump comedian for Puerto Rico joke that set off liberal uproar
Bill Maher complimented comedian Tony Hinchcliffe for the viral Puerto Rico joke he made at an October 2024 rally for then-presidential candidate Donald Trump that infuriated some politicians and the media.During the Trump rally in New York City's Madison Square Garden, Hinchcliffe said, "I don't know if you guys know this, but there's literally a floating island of garbage in the ocean right now." Hinchcliffe said. "I think it's called Puerto Rico."Hinchcliffe was a recent guest on Maher's Club Random podcast, where Maher said the comedian made a "great joke."TRUMP, POWERHOUSE GUESTS ROCK PACKED MSG WITH HISTORIC RALLYHinchcliffe explained the story behind the joke that set the media ablaze. He said he went to the rally to discuss free speech and make "those kinds of jokes.""That Puerto Rico joke was actually a joke that I had done a bunch in my standup, and it's part of a bigger joke with more front end and a longer back end," said Hinchcliffe.Hinchcliffe said, "Basically, at the end of the normal joke, I go, you, I'm talking about the problems in the world. And I go, and I don't know if you guys know this, but there's a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. Yeah, I think it's called Puerto Rico," Maher responded with laughter."The point of the joke is that people picture, obviously, in my mind, obviously, the great Pacific garbage," Hinchcliffe said. "I can't believe nobody ever talks about the fact that there's an island of plastic as big as Texas."BIDEN CASTS VOTE IN DELAWARE, CALLS TRUMP'S MADISON SQUARE GARDEN RALLY SIMPLY EMBARRASSINGMaher said, "There's no doubt it's insulting to Puerto Ricans, but I have been over the same territory. I mean, I don't think I would do exactly that joke, but I certainly have done many that have been objected to."Maher defended Hinchcliffe, saying, "My thing was always, you know what? Everybody has to accept, in the framework of comedy, insults you know, and they're never fair."Hinchcliffe explained his thought process going into the rally."When I was going in to do that, that rally, the goal, you know? It wasn't just to swing a few, you know, thousand votes, hopefully, of whatever, whoever listens to my podcast or whoever liked my silly performance on the Tom Brady roast or whatever. It was also to f---ing have the president go, "That was cool. Thanks, man. That's awesome. I liked your set. You got the crowd going." Which, by the way, I did. Of course, that room isn't mic'd for the comedy show."Maher asked if Trump responded to him that way and Hinchcliffe responded, "No, he didn't, I didn't get to talk to him."Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who noted that her family is from Puerto Rico, took issue with the comedian's joke."That's just what they think about you. It's what they think about anyone who makes less money than them. It's what they think about the people who serve them food in a restaurant. It's what they think about the people who, who fold their clothes in a store," the New York Democrat said at the time.Republicans also took issue with the joke. Former Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, a Republican from New York, posted, "Im proud to be Puerto Rican. My mom was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Its a beautiful island with a rich culture and an integral part of the USA. The only thing thats garbage was a bad comedy set. Stay on message.""This is not a joke. Its completely classless & in poor taste," Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., a Cuban American, added online. "Puerto Rico is the crown jewel of the Caribbean & home to many of the most patriotic Americans I know. Tony Hinchcliffe clearly isnt funny & definitely doesnt reflect my values or those of the Republican Party."WALZ REPEATS CLINTON ATTACK THAT TRUMP MADISON SQUARE GARDEN EVEN MIRRORED 1930'S NAZI RALLYFollowing this, Trump said, "I have no idea who he is. Somebody said there was a comedian that joked about Puerto Rico or something. And I have no idea who it was. Never saw him. Never heard of him, and don't want to hear of him. But I have no idea," Trump told "Hannity" in October. The Trump campaign also swiftly distanced itself from the joke."This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign," Trump campaign senior adviser Danielle Alvarez noted in a statement, according to reports.Hinchcliffe and the Trump campaign were criticized by many in the media for the joke and there were concerns that this would affect Trump's election chances and support within the Hispanic community.According to national exit polls, Trump received 45% support from Hispanic voters, an increase from 2020, when he received 32%.Fox News' Ashley Carnahan, Alex Nitzberg, and Alec Schemmel contributed to this report.

HUGH HEWITT: Will Pope Leo XIV reverse the anti-American vibe from the last pope?
Many Catholics around the world must marvel at the wild diversity of reactions to the election of Pope Leo XIV within the United States.Something approaching half of the hot takes from American media on the day of Pope Leos elevation that traveled abroad from X were on baseball and deep dish pizza. Another subset of reactions are Villanova alums getting elbows into the ribs of their Notre Dame pals accompanied by some knowing and approving nods from their friends who are Boston College, Holy Cross or Georgetown alums. Theres baseball, and there is "American Catholic inside baseball."Whatever the Catholic faithful in Africa think of Cubs-White Sox chatter, or what the new popes old Peruvian diocesan flock makes of the dissection in the American Catholic media of "Bishop Bobs" choice of the name Leo and whatever "Rerum Novarum"is, its a good bet that most of the worlds 1.4 billion Catholics are in a "wait and see" mode, relieved that it didnt take long perhaps a little side-eyed at the choice of an American but reassured by the obvious love for him from his Peruvian "family" and that everyone with a red hat appears to be happy even as the tens of thousands in St. Peters Square thundered their applause. But for the generation of boomers around his age of 69, the astonished reaction is at the very idea that one of our number is the heir to Saint Peters mission as the "rock" upon which Christs church would be built.POPE LEO XIV CALLS THIS A CHALLENGE TO HUMAN DIGNITY IN FIRST ADDRESS TO CARDINALSThe new pope is half a year older than I am, and thus an "OK Boomer" American Catholic, though one with a missionarys heart and a zeal to serve the poor. He will not, however, be able to (or perhaps want to) escape his 1960s and 1970s upbringing, will get "Laugh In" references, Farah Fawcett posters,Saturday NightFever (especially John Travoltas older brother who quit the priesthood and the shock that sent though the family) and Jaws. Thats all new for a pope, I think. I have no idea which, if any, American media he reads now or if he follows the MLB standings or the NFL draft. But he most certainly is, very much, a "Wonder Years" kid a reference to the 1988 TV series about being an American kid of the 60s starring Fred Savage and Danica McKellar that began in 1988 and ran six years.Pope Leo will almost certainly have been an altar boy when the big switch from Latin to English for the Mass was made, a rug-pull which left those of us who did the work to memorize the Latin beyond "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa" but didnt get to use it for long, if at all, feeling aggrieved.Pope Leo knows the big stuff hes a canon lawyer after all but also the small stuff of American Catholicism such as that altar boys in America usually got tipped at weddings, forgotten at funerals and that Stations of the Cross on Good Fridays are a big deal.If Chicago parochial schools were like those in Ohio, the classes were big, often 40 or more, but the sisters and their lay colleagues kept order. (Yes, they did, and not with much difficulty.)The stage play "Late Night Catechism" nails those days and those schools, and if that "one sister" show puts on a run near you, its a better read on the new popes upbringing than anything in the American press. In our youth, priests came to dinner and had a few drinks before, during and after. They were good men, normal guys, but significant figures to be respected and the house cleaned before they came. "Father" usually handed out the report cards in elementary school. There was, in two words, "deference and respect" when in their presence, and order before and during their visits or appearances, whether on playgrounds, gyms or school PTA or parish council meetings. As a young professional in the Beltway in the early 80s, my friends from the old school gathered to welcome the monsignor when he came to townbecause that is what you did for the priests and sisters who ran the church (and the schools and the hospitals) in the enveloping culture of American Catholicism which cocooned youth in those turbulent years. The awful scandals concerning the abuse of children certainly happened, and are crimes which have scarred so many, but the original "men in black" were then and now overwhelmingly good men and true to their sacrificial vows.Leo the XIV almost certainly recalls where he was when St. John Paul the Great was shot. He will remember it with a clarity that still shocks. And I guess he will revere St. John Paul the Great. Because that saint worked with Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Margaret Thatcher to help Lech Walesa bring down first the communist governments of the Warsaw Pact along with the Wall and then the entire "Evil Empire."What Pope Leo thinks of his predecessors deal with the Chinese Communist Party I do not know, but I pray he conveys to General Secretary Xi Jinping that the imprisoned dissident, and devout Catholic, Jimmy Lai, should be freed and sent to the United Kingdom for treatment quickly or opposition from the "invisible divisions" of the pope will become very visible, very quickly.I pray as well that he corrects for Pope Francis inexplicable antagonism towards some of the great leaders of American Catholicism of the last quarter-century and elevates Archbishops Charles Chaput and Jos Horacio Gomez to the College of Cardinals as Francis ought to have done more than a decade ago. The palpable anti-American vibe of Francis was as unnecessary as it was divisive. (Chaput, a Native American now retired as Archbishop of Philadelphia, and Gomez, born in Mexico and leading the Los Angeles diocese, reflect the modern American faithful at least as much as anyone else in the College. The former pope, may he rest in peace, carried an unprovoked hostility towards them just as he did to the Latin Mass and its enthusiasts, and even towards the U.S. Church as a whole, an enmity as inexplicable as the many ambiguities that the casual off-handed remarks of the last pope created across continents, dioceses and orders. Bringing Chaput to Rome and leaning on Gomez for guidance on West Coast Catholicism as well as Archbishop Cordileone in San Francisco would be so very, very welcomed and an easy measure that proclaims "reconciliation." Of course Leo wont exclude the "progressive" Americans in the Church leadership, but some balance, please.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONOn understanding Pope Leo: Id wager he knows the lyrics of at least one, if not all, of the theme songs of Gilligans Island, Green Acres or Mister Ed. Id love to know the titles in his album collection gathering dust somewhere in a brothers attic unless Leo sold it he might have to give the proceeds to the poor. I dont think the babies of the American Baby Boom rise in the universal Church unless they had the common touch that came from the common culture of the time. Most Catholics of all sorts and ages in America, but especially those taught by the parochial schools of that era, carry a knowledge of the obligation owed by the well-off to the poor. My parish and I would not be surprised if his old one (reportedly closed now) sponsored at least one refugee family from South Vietnam, resettled across the U.S. after their flight following the fall of Saigon in 1975. It was an early lesson on the Churchs welcome to the refugees who have had to flee tyranny. If the new pope learned to gamble for small stakes at the summer parish carnivals that continue to this day it would be the rule, not the exception. Is he a Villanova Wildcats basketball nut like most Villanova grads Ive ever met? Who knows what math majors do, but he probably has filled in his share of brackets, understands batting averages and perhaps watchedSaturday NightLive more than a few times. What a great (and evangelical) thing it would be to see the pope courtside at a Final Four down the road, though the pressure on the young men from Villanova would skyrocket (as might vocations in the U.S.)The not merely "conventional" wisdom, but the actual "universally held belief" that an American could not be elected pope fell like many such convictions over the decades for many reasons we can only guess at. But perhaps the perfect candidate emerged who could please both those cardinals who wanted some, if not complete, continuity with Francis preference for the migrant and the desperately poor, but also one who assuaged some, if not all, the concerns of those cardinals who recognized a widening divide with American Catholicism, a divide that could become the sort of rupture that, if expanded instead of bridged, could become permanent and even schismatic.Who knows? Nobody. Not even Pope Leo XIV, I would guess, surrounded as he is by a world on fire and a Vatican deep in financial chaos. Every opinion will be premature until after one or two consistories those occasions when popes add to the men in the College of Cardinals. Pope Leo could do a lot to repair breaches in the Church with some early selections there which heal divisions while also continuing the embrace begun by St. John Paul the Great and continued by Benedict and Francis of a global Church that holds up the divinity of Jesus Christ first and always and usually recalls and broadcasts that the Beatitudes are the quick hack on the whole of the Gospels.Hugh Hewitt is a Fox News contributor, and host of "The Hugh Hewitt Show," heard weekday mornings 6am to 9am ET on the Salem Radio Network, and simulcast on Salem News Channel. "He entered the United States illegally in February of 2024 was given a court date for an immigration hearing and released. He did not show up for that court date, so in March of this year, he was ordered removed by an immigration judge here in the United States.ICE SAYS IT DEPORTED 174 CRIMINAL MIGRANTS FROM TEXAS, INCLUDING A MAN WITH 39 ILLEGAL ENTRIES"The biggest thing for me is public safety," Bradford said.MAN CHARGED WITH MAKING THREATS AGAINST ICE AGENTS, DHS SEC KRISTI NOEM IN 'ALARMING' SOCIAL MEDIA POSTSOf the 422 arrests, 262 have criminal convictions, 34 have pending convictions, 126 have other immigration violations, and 229 had final orders of removal, according to ICE.Another illegal alien removed during the operation was a 72-year-old migrant from Mexico who was ordered removed from the U.S. in 2018, and has been convicted of homicide, robbery, shoplifting and assault.During the operation, a 40-year-old twice-deported criminal alien from Mexico was seen trying flee in his vehicle and then on foot before he eventually was captured. According to ICE, Hector Castillo-Garcia was convicted of several charges while in the U.S. illegally, including arson, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated. The Houston ICE Field Office has an operation center with analysts dedicated to developing these targets."They are doing the database research to get the worst of the worst, the ones who have the most significant threat to public safety," Bradford said. "And then we want to look at the information we have on that individual, make sure it's a viable target, make sure we have good addresses, go out and do surveillance so we can see if we can a pattern of the subjects movements and behavior. So, we want to kind of combine the worst of the worst plus the ones we have the most likelihood of encountering and arresting, trying to merge those two things together to come up with the top targets."ICE is also ramping up its efforts to remove illegal migrants by swiftly transferring those with final removal orders to designated hubs, where they are deported immediately to their home countries. This "hub and spoke" system, which speeds up the removal process, has just started recently, according to the ICE field director."We can arrest the individual this morning, process him this afternoon, and have him on a removal flight this evening, same day, saving taxpayer cost and just making it more efficient and expedited process to get these folks out of the country,"said Bradford.Fox News got exclusive footage of 80 detainees in Houston boarding one of the flights bound for the El Paso, Texas, hub.MAN POSTS VIDEO URGING PEOPLE TO SHOOT AT ICE AGENTS ON SIGHTBreakdown of Arrests:Criminal Convictions: 262Pending convictions: 34Other Immigration Violations: 126Final Orders of Removal: 229Breakdown of Criminal Convictions:Aggravated Assault: 24Assault: 35Burglary: 6Driving While Intoxicated: 48Narcotics-related Offenses: 37Forgery/Fraud: 10Obstruction/Resisting Arrest: 21Murder: 1Robbery: 6Sexual Assault (adult): 6Sexual Assault-Child/Minor: 5Smuggling Aliens: 10Terroristic Threat: 5Vehicle Theft: 6Weapons Offense: 9Gang Members/Affiliates Arrested:5

Pope Leo XIV jokes that he cannot invite top-ranked tennis player to charity match
A charity tennis match at the Vatican would have a small list of guests but it wouldn't even include the top men's player in the world.Pope Leo XIV recently said he considered himself "quite the amateur tennis player," but one notable name would be omitted in this hypothetical match.During a meeting between the new American pope and international media on Monday, journalists offered to play doubles, or to organize a charity match.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe pope is all for it, but the top-ranked player would be ousted through no fault of his own: his last name."But we can't invite [Jannik] Sinner," the pope cracked.Sinner has won three grand slams, all of which have come since the 2024 Australian Open, and has quickly turned himself into the best player on the planet. At age 23, Sinner has skyrocketed through the world rankings, and has won back-to-back grand slams. But it doesn't sound like he's visiting Pope Leo XIV any time soon.In the pope's defense, he does have a halfway decent excuse to exclude Sinner.Back in February, he was given a three-month suspension by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) after twice testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid nearly a year ago.The ban came just weeks after the Italian tennis pro won his third Grand Slam title the suspension, though, avoided any Grand Slams. It was found that Sinner had not intentionally used abanned substance for competitive gain.Sinner tested positive for low levels of metabolite of clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid that can be used for ophthalmological and dermatological use, in March 2024. Eight days after the Indian Wells tournament, Sinner tested positive again in an out-of-competition sample.According to the ITIAs initial findings, Sinner explained that he had tested positive after receiving a massage from a trainer who had used an over-the-counter spray that contained clostebol to treat a small wound after cutting his own finger.Sinner's suspension was lifted on May 4, and he is currently playing in his home country at the Italian Open. He will be on the hunt for his fourth grand slam when the French Open begins May 25.Fox News' Paulina Dedaj and The Associated Press contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

House staffer victim of armed carjacking in popular Washington neighborhood
A senior staffer for California Rep. Sara Jacobs' office was the victim of an armed carjacking in a popular Washington, D.C., neighborhood on Friday afternoon, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.Metro Police announced on Sunday two arrests in the armed carjacking that occurred on Friday afternoon in a Harris Teeter parking lot in Washington's Navy Yard neighborhood. In addition to the victim's personal items, the senior staffer's government-issued iPhone, MacBook, ID and Capitol parking pass were identified as missing in the police report obtained by Fox News Digital. Jacobs' office did not provide comment but confirmed the devices were immediately wiped. On Friday, around 12:08 p.m., the suspects approached the victim as they exited their car, demanding the victim's car keys, according to Metro Police. When the staffer refused, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and obtained the keys before the suspects fled the scene in the victims vehicle, police said.FAMILY OF MOM MURDERED IN RITZY DC SUBURB DECADES AGO GETS JUSTICE AS PERP NOBODY EXPECTED PLEADS GUILTYOfficers recovered the victim's car and a firearm on Saturday, and then arrested two suspects. According to police, a 15-year-old juvenile male of Washington was charged with armed carjacking, and a 14-year-old juvenile male of Maryland was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and unauthorized use of a vehicle.WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DRIVING INTO FESTIVAL CROWD HOURS AFTER EXPLOSION ROCKED SAME EVENTAs of Sunday, police are still searching for two outstanding suspects whose photos were captured during the incident by surveillance cameras.Navy Yard is a popular Washington neighborhood located south of the U.S. Capitol and home to the Washington Nationals baseball stadium. While the neighborhood has transformed over the past decade into an urban hub for congressional staffers and young professionals, it has also been the subject of criticism for its crime.Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he was walking to the Navy Yard Metro Station for a transit safety event last month when he learned a Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) police officer had just been stabbed in the face. The WMATA confirmed the incident to Fox News Digital and said the suspect stabbed the officer "with a sharp metal object" after they did not pay their fare at the station.President Donald Trump vowed to clean up Washington while speaking at his "Make America Great Again" rallies on the 2024 campaign trail. Since returning to office this January, Trump has committed to creating a "crime-free capital." "We're cleaning up our city. We're cleaning up this great capital," the president said. "And we're not going to have crime, and we're not going to stand for crime," Trump said at the Department of Justice earlier this year. The Jacobs staffer did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital's Peter Pinedo and Andrew Margolis contributed to this report.

NFL MVP upset with Yankees' new radio announcer taking series off: 'You just don't do that'
For the first time since 1988, the New York Yankees have a new full-time play-by-play announcer on the radio.Dave Sims replaced John Sterling, who retired early in the 2024 season but briefly returned for the postseason, on WFAN. Sims was previously the television broadcaster for the Seattle Mariners.Sterling, of course, never missed a game from 1989 all the way until the summer of 2019, including the postseason. But Sims was not on the call for the Yankees' series this past weekend in Sacramento against the Athletics.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSims had said on social media he would be missing the series to visit family in Seattle before the Yankees' three-game set there this week.Sims' absence bothered Boomer Esiason, who hosts a daily morning show on the Yankees' radio network."John Sterling didn't miss any games, did he? You just take a week off?" Esiason said. "I'm sorry, I love Dave Sims what are you doing? You just took the Yankee job. It's supposed to be the job of your life.""You don't miss a Yankee you just don't do that."Esiason reiterated his fondness for Sims, "but I'm going to call it out as I see it."RANGERS' JOSH JUNG HITS TWO-RUN HR FOR MOM VS. BROTHER JACE ON MOTHER'S DAY"He just got started as the Yankee announcer, he's 40 games into his career as the Yankee announcer, and he decided to take off," Esiason continued.Perhaps the issue hit a sore spot for Esiason, who has traveled to call NFL games and managed to make it back to New York to host his show, which he co-hosts with Gregg Giannotti."I would fly to Monday night games and fly back in the middle of the night to be here in studio with Craig [Carton], especially when we were being simulcast I have done the same thing with you, as well. It's the Yankees for God's sake," Esiason, the 1989 NFL MVP, said. There was a rotation of several announcers last year for the Yankees, but they landed on Sims over the offseason. The Yankees and Mariners series, where Sims will be calling the game from the visitors' broadcast booth, kicks off Monday night.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Over 2,800 websites used to spread AMOS malware
Ransomware gangs once thrived on infected email attachments and bogus invoices, but security-savvy users and hardened mail gateways have weakened those tactics. Attackers are now focusing on a subtler trick that targets the small checkbox labeled "I'm not a robot" that most people click without thinking.A widespread campaign known as MacReaper has compromised more than 2,800 legitimate websites and redirects visitors to an infection process designed specifically for Apple computers. The operation relies on visual trust signals, including a convincing fake of Googles reCAPTCHA, along with hidden clipboard code that ends with the installation of Atomic macOS Stealer malware, a data-harvesting infostealer distributed through Telegram.Join the FREE "CyberGuy Report": Get my expert tech tips, critical security alerts and exclusive deals, plus instant access to myfree "Ultimate Scam Survival Guide" when you sign up!When a Mac user visits one of the compromised websites, they don't see the page they were expecting. Instead, the site displays a full-screen imitation of Google's familiar reCAPTCHA box. This fake reCAPTCHA appears harmless, simply asking the user to click "I'm not a robot." However, when the user clicks the box, a hidden command is silently copied to their clipboard. Immediately afterward, the page displays a friendly message, complete with familiar macOS keyboard shortcut visuals, explicitly instructing the user to open Terminal and paste what they've just copied. If the user follows these instructions, the command downloads and runs the malicious file known as Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS).This trick is specifically targeted at Mac users. The website checks the visitor's operating system and only activates the attack if it detects macOS. For Windows or Linux users, the site behaves normally. Researchers have dubbed this infection method "ClickFix," referencing the single click that initiates the attack chain. At the center of this campaign is AMOS, a sophisticated piece of malware that has become notorious in cybercrime circles. AMOS is available for rent on Telegram, with some versions costing attackers up to $3,000 per month. Once installed, AMOS can steal a wide array of sensitive data: it can extract Wi-Fi and app passwords stored in Keychain, collect browser cookies and autofill data, list system information and scan through personal folders such as Desktop and Documents. It is also capable of identifying and targeting more than 50 types of cryptocurrency wallets.THE HIDDEN COSTS OF FREE APPS: YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATIONMacReaper challenges two widely held beliefs. The first is that everyday CAPTCHA checks are just harmless speed bumps. The second is that macOS provides a level of built-in security that keeps most attackers at bay. In reality, a single click can expose Keychain credentials, active browser sessions and cryptocurrency wallets. These are exactly the kinds of targets that attract credential-stuffing groups and profit-driven cybercriminals. Because the attack is triggered by the user, many network monitoring tools treat the traffic as normal, leaving security teams with little to investigate. In environments where Macs and Windows machines share identity systems, one compromised Mac can open access to single sign-on portals, cloud storage and even production codebases.SPOTIFY PLAYLISTS ARE BEING HIJACKED TO PROMOTE PIRATED SOFTWARE AND SCAMSTo protect yourself from the evolving threat of the MacReaper attack, which continues to target users through sophisticated social engineering tactics, consider implementing these six essential security measures.1) Be skeptical of CAPTCHA prompts: Legitimate CAPTCHA tests never require you to copy commands or paste anything into Terminal. If a website instructs you to do this, it's likely a scam. Close the page immediately and avoid interacting with it.2) Don't click links from unverified emails and use strong antivirus software:Many MacReaper attacks start with phishing emails that impersonate trusted services. Always verify the sender before clicking on links. If an email seems urgent or unexpected, go directly to the company's official website instead of clicking any links inside the email. The best way to safeguard yourself from malicious links that install malware, potentially accessing your private information, is to have strong antivirus software installed on all your devices. This protection can also alert you to phishing emails and ransomware scams, keeping your personal information and digital assets safe.Get my picks for the best 2025 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices.3) Enable two-factor authentication:Enable two-factor authentication whenever possible. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, such as a code sent to your phone, in addition to your password.4) Keep devices updated: Regularlyupdating your operating system, browser and security software ensures you have the latest patches against known vulnerabilities. Cybercriminals exploit outdated systems, so enabling automatic updates is a simple but effective way to stay protected.5) Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity and change your passwords:If you've interacted with a suspicious website, phishing email or fake login page, check your online accounts for any unusual activity. Look for unexpected login attempts, unauthorized password resets or financial transactions that you don't recognize. If anything seems off, change your passwords immediately and report the activity to the relevant service provider. Also, consider using apassword manager to generate and store complex passwords. These services can provide early warning signs of identity theft or other malicious activities resulting from MacReaper or similar attacks. While no service promises to remove all your data from the internet, having a removal service is great if you want to constantly monitor and automate the process of removing your information from hundreds of sites continuously over a longer period of time.Check out my top picks for data removal services here.MASSIVE SECURITY FLAW PUTS MOST POPULAR BROWSERS AT RISK ON MACMacReaper makes it clear that the most durable exploits aren't zero-days but borrowed moments of trust, an authentic-looking CAPTCHA, a helpful-sounding fix, a clipboard that does what it's told. As Apple tightens the technical screws with Rapid Security Responses and notarization, expect adversaries to double down on such psychological levers. The counter-strategy is to hard-bake healthy skepticism into user behavior and to instrument Macs with the same telemetry layers enterprises already expect from Windows. Security, in other words, has finally become a platform-agnostic muscle, and complacency is the riskiest operating system of all.Do you think tech companies are doing enough to stop malware like MacReaper? 'Activist' judges keep trying to curb Trumps agenda heres how he could push back
President Donald Trump and his allies have railed against federal judges for blocking key executive orders in his second term, accusing so-called "activist" judges of overstepping their authority and blocking him from delivering on some of his top policy priorities. Some of Trumps most sweeping executive orders and actions have been blocked or paused by federal courts to allow for a full hearing on the merits. But the system of checks and balances also means these rulings can be reviewed either through appeals to the Supreme Court or by Congress, which has the power to pass laws or expand certain executive branch authorities. It's all part of an expressly designed system of government that affords each branch, including the presidency, plenty of options for review. The Framers "made clear that no one in our system of government was meant to be king the president included and not just in name only," U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell of the District of Columbia said in a ruling earlier this year. But that's not to say Trump is without options. Here's how he could seek to push back against the wave of court actions.100 DAYS OF INJUNCTIONS, TRIALS AND 'TEFLON DON': TRUMP SECOND TERM MEETS ITS BIGGEST TESTS IN COURTSince taking office, Trump's executive orders have been challenged by hundreds of lawsuits in federal court, though not all have been successful, and some remain in the earlier stages of review.Plaintiffs have sought to block the dismantling of certain federal agencies, to restore board heads and inspectors general fired by Trump, and to restrict the access of Elon Musk's government efficiency agency, DOGE, among other things. But like the groups filing the lawsuits, the Trump administration also has the ability to appeal any lower court decisions it views as unfavorable or going beyond the scope of the federal court. In the interim, it can seek an emergency stay to restore the executive order until the case can be heard on its merits. The Supreme Court has agreed to do so in several major cases. It sided with Trump in removing two federal board members he had fired earlier this year, and which a lower court had reversed. Last week, the Supreme Court lifted a lower court order that paused Trump's ban on transgender military members from taking effect allowing his order and related policies to proceed, at least for now.BOASBERG GRILLS DOJ OVER REMARKS FROM TRUMP AND NOEM, FLOATS MOVING MIGRANTS TO GITMO IN ACTION-PACKED HEARINGThe Trump administration can seek more lasting change by working with the Republican majorities in both houses of Congress to codify its biggest policy priorities, shielding the level of review currently afforded to the courts in the absence of any legislation.According to theCode of Federal Regulations and the Federal Register, a presidents executive order can be revoked or modified only by the president or via the legislative branch, if the president was acting on authority that had been granted by Congress. Plaintiffs in federal court have alleged that Trump's recent executive actions are beyond the scope of what has been authorized by Congress and, in the absence of clearly written laws, federal judges do have broad authority to interpret the lawfulness of the executive's actions.Critics of the courts have pushed for Congress to curtail this power either by stripping the funding for federal courts, impeaching judges or eliminating judicial seats, among other things."When federal judges take off their judicial robes and climb into the political arena and throw political punches, they should expect powerful political counterpunches from the Article III project," Mike Davis, the founder and president of the Article III Project, or A3P, told Fox News Digital in an interview."And when the federal judiciary loses its legitimacy, it loses everything," Davis said. But these steps are highly controversial, and it's unclear if they could garner the broad support needed from both the House and Senate.HERE'S WHY DOZENS OF LAWSUITS SEEKING TO QUASH TRUMP'S EARLY ACTIONS AS PRESIDENT ARE FAILINGOptions available to the White House are more limited by the Constitution. The president can appoint federal judges, but he cannot fire them. The executive branch is also responsible for enforcing court rulings and may either slow-roll or de-prioritize decisions the president disagrees with.Meanwhile, Trump allies have also sought to push back on the power of the courts in other, more unorthodox ways. The America First Legal Foundation, a pro-Trump legal group founded by White House aide Stephen Miller in between Trump's first and second terms, filed a lawsuit against Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, in his capacity as the official head of the U.S. Judicial Conference, and Robert J. Conrad, the director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, earlier this month. The lawsuit accuses both parties of performing certain regulatory actions that go beyond the scope of the "core functions" of the judiciary and which they argue should put them under the thumb of the executive branch."An American president is not a king not even an 'elected' one and his power to remove federal officers and honest civil servants like plaintiff is not absolute," Howell said in a case involving the reinstatement of two fired federal board members earlier this year.
