WWW.FOXNEWS.COMAstronomers make groundbreaking discovery about largest comet ever observed flying through deep spaceA groundbreaking discovery was recently made about the largest comet ever observed hurtling toward the sun from the Oort Cloud in the outer reaches of our solar system.Astronomers recently got a close-up look at the comet, known as C/2014 UN271, flying through deep space with the powerful Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) radio telescope in Chile. The icy giant is 85 miles across and is more than 10 times the size of any known comet, according to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).The NRAO reported that astronomers found that new observations from the comet showed jets of carbon monoxide gas erupting out from the comets solid icy core.SCIENTISTS DETECT MYSTERIOUS RADIO WAVES COMING FROM BENEATH ANTARCTICA'S ICEUsing the ALMA, the researchers found the comet in deep space near Neptune or about 17 times the distance between the Sun and Earth, according to a release from NRAO.Using the ALMA telescope's high sensitivity and resolution, the researchers were able to focus on the carbon monoxide and heat being emitted from the comet.POTENTIAL DISCOVERY OF NEW DWARF PLANET ADDS WRINKLE TO PLANET NINE THEORYNathan Roth of American University and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the lead author of the study, which was published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters, discussed how this gives researchers insight into the workings of this frozen rock hurtling through space."These measurements give us a look at how this enormous, icy world works," Roth said. "Were seeing explosive outgassing patterns that raise new questions about how this comet will evolve as it continues its journey toward the inner solar system."Using previous ALMA observations and these newest findings, researchers were able to measure the comet. They measured the thermal signal to find the comet's size and amount of dust surrounding its core.Researchers believe that as C/2014 UN271 gets closer to the sun, they will see more frozen gas begin to vaporize off the titan of a comet. This could possibly give researchers more information about the primitive makeup of this icy giant. The researchers also hope that this will give a better understanding of the makeup of the solar system.0 Comments 0 Shares 17 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMSuspect in Boulder terror attack targeting pro-Israel demonstrators charged with federal hate crimesThe suspect accused in a "targeted terror attack" in Boulder, Colorado earlier this month was formally charged Wednesday with additional hate crimes.A federal grand jury indictment unsealed in Denver Wednesday charges Mohamed Sabry Soliman with 12 hate crime counts for using Molotov cocktails to attack a group of people demonstrating in support of Israeli hostages in Gaza. Soliman was initially charged with one count of a hate crime the day after the attack. Wednesdays indictment alleges that Soliman entered a park in front of the Boulder County Courthouse on June 1 carrying a backpack weed sprayer containing a flammable liquid and a black plastic container holding over a dozen glass bottles and jars containing flammable liquid. Several of these allegedly had red rags stuffed through the top acting as wicks. Around 1:30 p.m., Soliman approached people participating in the "Run for Their Lives" demonstration and hurled two lit Molotov cocktails at them while shouting "Free Palestine!" the indictment alleges.MAN ACCUSED OF BOULDER FIREBOMBING AT PRO-ISRAEL EVENT APPEARS IN COURT ON FEDERAL HATE CRIME CHARGEAuthorities later found a handwritten document in a vehicle driven bySoliman. The document excoriated Zionism a movement to establish and sustain a Jewish state in Israel and described Israel as a "cancer entity."BOULDER TERROR ATTACK SUSPECT SHOWED SIGNS OF GROWING LONE-WOLF RADICALIZATION, SAYS FORMER FBI SUPERVISORThe indictment alleges that Soliman, a 45-year-old illegal immigrant from Egypt, told law enforcement during an interview that he wanted to take revenge on Zionists i.e., anyone supporting Israel and scoured the internet looking for a pro-Israeli event.Eventually, Soliman allegedly told authorities that he discovered the "Run for Their Lives" group and identified the participants when he saw them carrying flags outside the courthouse. The group is an organization that facilitates running and walking events calling for the release of all hostages being held in Gaza after the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre. The indictment accuses Soliman of trying to kill eight people ages 52 to 88 who were hurt by the Molotov cocktails and targeting them because of their perceived or actual national origin. Solimans defense attorney argued at a hearing last week that the alleged attack was motivated by opposition to Zionism as a political ideology which is not considered a hate crime under federal law.Soliman is scheduled to appear in court this Friday for a hearing in which he will be asked to enter a plea on the hate crime charges.Fox News Digitals Louis Casiano and The Associated Press contributed to this report.0 Comments 0 Shares 11 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMEx-NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio says theres a lot of exaggeration over Mamdani fearsFormer New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told Fox News @ Night Wednesday he believes fears over Zohran Mamdanis win in the Democratic primary are greatly exaggerated.Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, claimed victory in New York Citys Democratic mayor primary Tuesday after former New York governor Andrew Cuomo conceded the race. While the races outcome will still need to be decided by a ranked count on July 1, Mamdanis far-left policy proposals have caused angst among more moderate Democrats.CITY-RUN GROCERY STORES, DEFUNDING POLICE, SAFE INJECTION SITES: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT NYC'S NEXT POTENTIAL MAYORDe Blasio downplayed these fears, arguing that many of Mamdanis proposals such as creating free bus networks, expanding grocery stores and implementing rent control have been tried in other cities."These are not staggering ideas. If he wants to tax the wealthy, he has to get the approval of the legislature. They may or may not give it," de Blasio said, arguing that the "wealthy" are poised to get generous tax cuts from President Donald Trumps "Big, Beautiful Bill," which passed in the House last month.DEM SOCIALIST'S NYC PRIMARY UPSET SIGNALS 'GENERATIONAL' SHIFT IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY, STRATEGISTS SAY"I just think theres a lot of exaggeration here. And were not going to see people leaving in droves," de Blasio said. "They said it would happen when I became mayor. It didnt happen. I just dont buy it."De Blasio, who served as New York City Mayor between 2014 and 2022, argued that Mamdanis success was due to his focus on "kitchen table issues" something Democrats paid the price for forgetting in the 2024 election cycle."Heres someone who actually talked all day long about affordability, talked about rent. He talked about the basics of life, food, the whole thing that people are struggling to make ends meet," de Blasio said. The former mayor predicted that police would not be defunded under a prospective Mamdani administration."I think in the end, hes going to laser focus on the kinds of things that everyday New Yorkers want across the ideological spectrum here, across demographics, because this place is incredibly expensive, and working-class and middle class people are struggling to live here," de Blasio said.0 Comments 0 Shares 6 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMCollege campuses could be ground zero for Iranian sleeper cells plotting to harm Americans, experts warnAs the threat of Iranian retaliation looms, the potential for terror proxies to leverage new-age methods remains front of mind for experts pointing to antisemitic campus protests and social media propaganda as possible methods of creating chaos within the United States. After strikes on Irans key nuclear sites by U.S. forces Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin warning of the heightened risk of domestic terrorism from Iranian-backed or domestic attackers."The likelihood of violent extremists in the Homeland independently mobilizing to violence in response to the conflict would likely increase if Iranian leadership issued a religious ruling calling for retaliatory violence against targets in the Homeland," the bulletin says.OPEN BORDERS UNDER BIDEN COULD HELP IRAN RETALIATE WITH US TERROR SLEEPER CELLS: FORMER FBI BOSSSleeper cells are groups planted within a country by a foreign government to live and work among citizens with the ultimate goal of eventually carrying out a terror attack or politically motivated act of violence.Due to depleted funding and resources, terror organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas have been forced to "sit this one out" when it comes to aiding Iran in its attacks, significantly depleting the regimes show of force when looking to retaliate against the U.S. and Israel, according to Barak Seener, a senior fellow at the Henry Jackson Society."Irans ability to react militarily is increasingly minimalized," Seener told Fox News Digital. "We have to remember that Irans terrorist proxies have been severely degraded."HOSPITALS IN SANCTUARY CITIES COULD BE MOST VULNERABLE TO IRAN TERROR ATTACKS, WARNS EXPERTIn response to the loss of Irans usual terrorist proxies, Seener points to the government utilizing sleeper cells to carry out its agenda on the soil of its adversaries."Iran will be seeking to flex by activating sleeper cells in the U.S., Britain, Europe or even Asia," Seener said. "[Its] about conducting surveillance and then targeting either community centers or policy officials. So, Iran is not new to this game."The threat to Americans safety has U.S. officials on high alert, and DHS and the FBI are ramping up security measures throughout the country. Since the bombing of Irans nuclear sites over the weekend, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 11 Iranian nationals in the country illegally, including an alleged sniper in the Iranian army, according to DHS.IRAN MAY ATTEMPT FACE-SAVING RETALIATION AGAINST US FOR STRIKES, EXPERT SAYS"It is our duty to keep the nation safe and informed, especially during times of conflict," DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict brings the possibility of increased threat to the homeland in the form of possible cyberattacks, acts of violence and antisemitic hate crimes."The FBI declined Fox News Digital's request for comment."A number of Lebanese, Iranian, South American operatives with Iranian connections have come through the borders," Seener said, referencing the Biden administrations previous open border policies. "[Theres] just no way of tracking."However, Seener also raised the possibility of Iranian operatives commandeering anti-Israel campus protests throughout the U.S. while using cyber warfare to launch disinformation campaigns on social media."Much of the opposition to U.S. foreign policy toward Israel and Gaza has been people that have been coming to the [country] on student visas," Seener said. "Theyre not U.S. nationals. And, yet, theyre able to create a disturbance and contribute to an enormous disruption."THEY WANT AMERICANS DEAD, TOO THE THREAT FROM IRAN AND ITS PROXIESIn response to the ongoing anti-Israel protests on college campuses, President Donald Trump has ordered his administration to revoke hundreds of student visas belonging to known activists. However, the risk of Iranian sleeper cells pales in comparison to the possibility of an individual radicalized by the regime choosing to carry out an attack on U.S. soil, according to Paul Mauro, a retired NYPDexecutive officer with the Intelligence Operations and Analysis Bureau."If [Iran] was looking to insert an asset into America, why would you not go through a porous southern border," Mauro told Fox News Digital. "Insert foreign agents here and embed them in these campus protests."IRAN THREATENS TO HIT US BASES IN THE MIDDLE EAST: WHAT IS THE THREAT LEVEL?The campus protests provide the Iranian government an attractive target to embed with, with the primary goal of creating disruption and dissent on American soil, according to Mauro."They can be the recipient of funds," Mauro said. "They can contextualize what is going on for you. They can tell you who the big players are, how the disruption could go. And it just saps our blood and treasure here on the home front and creates chaos."Like Seener, Mauro pointed to the possibility of the Iranian regime using social media and online platforms to radicalize Americans in an attempt to build homegrown terrorists from the ground up.CNN ANALYST SUGGESTS TRUMP COULD GO DOWN AS 'HERO' AFTER IRAN STRIKE"That is a real low-rent, easy-to-run operation," Mauro said. "You get somebody who is leading a slipping down life [who] doesnt have much of an identity, somebody who is looking for a persona, and you give them one. Its subtle, and its a seduction process."While the use of propaganda and targeted social media is historically aligned with ISIS, Mauro pointed out changing digital times affecting how attacks can be waged."Traditionally, thats not the Iranian MO," Mauro said. "Thats not the Hezbollah MO. But were in a new world."However, the possibility for terror groups to come together with new strategies to use against a common enemy remains front of mind.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Right now, the enemy of my enemy is my friend," Mauro said. "You could have the kind of elements that previously, people in remnants of Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Syria, Iraq could [be] figuring right now that America is going to be a soft target because you have all this unrest among the progressives."While the bulletin released by DHS does not cite any specific threats to the American people, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the country are on high alert as they encourage people to remain vigilant with tensions between the U.S. and Iran continuing to rise."There are no rules of engagement to a rogue regime like Iran," Seener said. "Everything is fair game. Western democracies dont operate in that manner, and its alien to us, but that is how Iran operates."0 Comments 0 Shares 7 Views 0 Reviews
