Mom who lost 9-month-old son in hot car warns parents amid US heatwave: No way that could happen
As a heatwave crashes over parts of the United States this week, one mother who lost her 9-month-old son after accidentally leaving him in a hot car is warning other parents to take precautions.Raelyn Balfour forgot her son, Bryce, was sitting in the back seat of her car when she walked into work on March 30, 2007."I was one of those parents, years before this happened to me, who said that it has to be an irresponsible parent. There's no way that could happen. But there absolutely is a way that can happen," Balfour told Fox News Digital. The now-53-year-old mom of five, including Bryce, served in the Army for nearly 30 years before she medically retired in 2018.CONNECTICUT MOM REVEALS HOW SHE FORGAVE HUSBAND AFTER TODDLER DIED IN HOT CAR"There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about my son. His birthday just passed on June 18. He would have been 19 years old. And to think about the things that I will forever miss his graduation, his wedding, his children, his happiness. It's something that I have to live with every day."She recalled all the details of the day that were different from her normal routine: her husband did not have a car that week because he had lent his to his sister, so Balfour had to drop him off at work that morning. The night before, they hadn't slept well because Bryce was sick and they could not find his pacifier. Their daycare provider had recently changed phones, losing certain numbers. They recently changed out Bryce's car seat, which was too big to fit in its usual spot directly behind Balfour, so she and her husband moved it behind the passenger seat instead.LOUISIANA FATHER WHO LEFT 1-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IN HOT CAR FOR OVER 9 HOURS FACES MURDER CHARGE: POLICETheir typically talkative toddler did not make any noise in the back seat of the car that morning because he was so tired, Balfour recalled. And after dropping off her husband at work while he did not have a car, Balfour headed straight to work instead of daycare because she had a routine of making one stop before work. During her drive, she got two phone calls one from her nephew and another urgent call from work.Balfour went in to work as usual and saw a missed call from her daycare provider around 2 p.m. She called her back, but it went to voicemail. Around 4 p.m. that day, the daycare provider called again and asked Balfour how her son was doing, knowing he had been sick that week and assuming Balfour had stayed home with her son that day.FLORIDA DAD ARRESTED AFTER TODDLER DIES IN HOT CAR WHILE HE ALLEGEDLY GOT HAIR CUT, 'WENT DRINKING': POLICE"I couldn't understand what she was talking about because, quite honestly, I thought that she was saying [my husband] had picked up Bryce early, not realizing he didn't have a vehicle," Balfour said. "I could hear the panic in her voice, and she said, 'No, Rae, you didn't drop him off this morning.' And the whole morning flashed through my mind."She immediately hung up the phone and ran to the parking lot. It had been a cold morning at 36 degrees, but the temperature had reached 66 that afternoon. The temperature inside her black car, she would later find out, reached 100 degrees on the chilly day."I pulled him out of the car. I was screaming. I was going crazy, and I was screaming for someone to call 911," she recalled. "I immediately put him down on the ground and started CPR. And I can tell you that there's a lot of parents who believe that this isn't possible, and you have to be an irresponsible parent, but I can tell you that no one wants to know what it feels like to perform CPR on your own child."NORTH CAROLINA PARENTS CHARGED AFTER SON IS STRUCK AND KILLED BY SUV WHILE WALKING WITH OLDER BROTHERHer son was pronounced dead at a hospital that day.Balfour would later be charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse and neglect, but a jury acquitted her within 90 minutes, Balfour said."Then throughout the trial process, I would get very frustrated because I don't understand how I can manage $47 million in the US military with every penny accounted for, but I can't remember my own child. Like, how is this possible?" she said.Amber Rollins Reis, director of Kids and Car Safety, told Fox News Digital that the "overwhelming majority of hot car deaths happen when an otherwise loving, responsible parent loses awareness that the baby is in the back seat." There are an average of 38 children who die in cars each year in the United States, she said.FLORIDA WOMAN GIVEN MAXIMUM SENTENCE IN DEATH OF 2ND GRANDCHILD; DAUGHTER SAYS, 'I STILL LOVE YOU'She added that parents who lose awareness of a child in the back seat showcase "a very typical function of the competing memory systems in our brains." The hippocampus stores thought memories while the basal ganglia controls habit memory, and the two functions compete with each other, she said."When you're fatigued, stressed, you've got a lot going on, your habit memory or that basal ganglia tends to kick in more often and help you execute habits or routines that you've done many times before so that that hippocampus, or that conscious memory, isn't having to stay engaged," she explained. "So this is kind of a survival mechanism of the way that our brain functions. The problem with that habit memory, or that basal ganglia, is that when there's a change in that normal routine your basal ganglia can't account for that."Parents who are sleep deprived or overwhelmed may be thrown off by changes in routine, thus being more susceptible to leaving children in cars on their way to work or other stops in their daily routines.About 55% of all hot car fatalities involve a parent who "lost awareness that the baby was in the back seat and did not have a reminder or did not realize until it was too late," Rollins Reis said. She recommends parents put something in the back seat that they need to move on with their day, such as a phone or laptop something that is needed for a typical work day. Balfour said that when she had her other children, she would take off one shoe and put it in the back of her car so she would always remember to check the back.Balfour also recommends parents strap their children into their car seats with an object, such as a bright stuffed animal, and then take the stuffed animal up to a visible place in the front seat as a reminder that there is a child in the back.Developing habits like these help parents get into the routine of checking the back seats, Rollins said.Balfour has since made it her life's mission to share her son's story and help other parents remember their children in the back seat."No matter how hard it is, and it's never easy, I'm keeping my promise to him," Balfour said. "And that's how I honor his memory. That's how honor him, is to continue to be a voice and to spread the information."

Sneaky airline passenger's carry-on hack sparks debate over flight etiquette
While airlines have a variety of baggage policies in place, it is standard for carry-on roller suitcases of a certain size to be stored in overhead bins for flights. One passenger, however, sneakily flouted an airline rule and was then called out by a fellow flyer.Posting in "r/delta" forum on Reddit, a flight passenger asked, "How did FA [flight attendants] miss this?"VICTIM OF 'SEAT SWAP SHENANIGANS' REVEALS HOW FELLOW FLYER ATTEMPTED TO TRICK HER"Suitcase was hidden behind the curtain that separates C+ and first," the person wrote."Multiple FAs passed this before departure and during the flight and I didnt notice a single one say anything about it," the person continued."The carry-on abuser has outed themselves here. New stem cell therapy shows 'promising' results for treating hair loss in preclinical trials
Researchers at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid may have targeted a potential solution for hair loss.A recent study analyzed the effect of injecting mice's skin with stem cells from human fat "adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs)" as a means of treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA), more commonly known as male- or female-pattern hair loss. The team found that male mice achieved the best hair regrowth after three weeks when they received low-dose ASCs, combined with an energy-boosting molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP).HAIRSTYLISTS AND MEDICAL EXPERT CONFIRM TEMPORARY HAIR LOSS AFFECTING OZEMPIC USERSLow-dose and high-dose ASC treatments along with ATP led to no hair regrowth improvement in females, but medium-dose ASC plus ATP led to greater regrowth. The researchers concluded that hair regrowth was improved in "all experimental groups" where male mice received stem cell solutions supplemented with ATP.The findings were published in the journal Stem Cell Research & Therapy.Lead study author Dr. Eduardo Lpez Bran dermatologist and professor at The Complutense University of Madrid shared his expectations for the study in an interview with Fox News Digital.THIS DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINE COULD BE RUINING YOUR HAIR, EXPERTS WARN"We expected good results, but not such a high level of success," he said. "Were talking about a very high degree of hair regrowth in both male and female mice."With appropriate doses, the researchers achieved "very high percentages" of hair regrowth, noting that 100% of the male mice and up to 90% of the female mice regrew hair."These results demonstrate that advanced therapies may represent a new therapeutic approach for many diseases for which no effective treatments are currently available," Bran went on."Achieving such promising results in the preclinical phase with a completely novel approach to androgenetic alopecia one that avoids chronic treatment and is also safe is a significant scientific milestone."The main limitation of the study was the thinness of mouse skin, Bran noted, which "posed a challenge in administering the therapy.""This required the development of protocols to minimize experimental variability, and will be a key factor when studies in humans begin," he said. These new findings should be "interpreted with caution and scientific rigor," Bran cautioned."Although the results in mice represent significant progress, it is also true that it is essential to wait for clinical benefits in humans to be confirmed."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERThe researcher encouraged those with androgenetic alopecia to continue consulting with their dermatologists and to follow prescribed treatments as research develops."It is important to remain hopeful. Research advances are pointing toward possible solutions that, in the future, may offer long-lasting results without the need for continuous treatment to maintain benefits," Bran added.Looking ahead to human clinical trials, researchers are "actively working" on confirming safety for men and women between 18 and 50 years old with moderate androgenetic alopecia, the researcher noted."If everything progresses as expected, the most optimistic timeline points to the treatment becoming available in approximately five years," he said.In a separate interview with Fox News Digital, Dr. Brendan Camp, M.D., a New York-based dermatologist who was not involved in the study, commented on the potential for this method."While not commercially available, this study suggests that injection of stem cells supplemented with ATP into scalp skin could potentially encourage hair regrowth in individuals with androgenetic alopecia," he reiterated. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/health."This study is small, and more research is needed on this method as a potential treatment option for androgenetic alopecia."Until then, Camp encourages people to focus on currently available and "well-studied" treatments to address hair loss, and to visit a board-certified dermatologist for evaluation.

A Columbia Trustee's View: Higher education is at a crossroads. Let's choose builders over destroyers
In every generation, societies face a defining choice: build or destroy.Higher education is at a crossroads. As a scientist and a trustee of Columbia University, I have witnessed firsthand how an institution once hailed as a pillar of intellectual progress can be threatened not only by enemies from without, but also by an ideology from withinone that celebrates chaos over creation, grievance over growth, and destruction over discourse. The majority of my family left Iran during the revolution (I am a Persian Jew) in the face of violence, extremism, oppression and destruction. My family chose to emigrate to the United States because it is a nation of hope, freedom and opportunity. Through education, dedication and hard work, we have been able to achieve the "American dream" we are doctors, nurses, scientists, engineers, mothers, fathers all productive, contributing members of society, engaged in our communities.JEWISH STUDENT SETTLES RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION SUIT AGAINST COLUMBIAI earned my doctorate at Columbia. It shaped the trajectory of my life, opened doors to scientific discovery, and inspired me to found a biotech company dedicated to advancing treatments for patients with rare diseases. That experienceof curiosity, exploration, and relentless innovationwas derived directly from the principles of academic freedom and leadership at Columbia University. However, in the spring of 2024, my home was filled with students (my children and many of their classmates) who no longer felt safe on Columbias campus. Their fears didnt stem from intellectual challenge or debateit stemmed from intimidation. Protesters, many masked, others emboldened by institutional tolerance, took control of the physical environment of the university. They shut down classrooms, buildings and libraries.Recently, Columbia released a report on antisemitism and campus climate, demonstrating that this chaos and destruction led students of both Jewish (87%) and Muslim (83%) backgrounds feel concerned about expressing their beliefs, and made the majority of students of both religions feel unsafe.TRUMP ADMIN ALLEGES COLUMBIA VIOLATED CIVIL RIGHTS LAW WITH 'DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE' TO CAMPUS PROTESTSAfter voicing my concerns regarding antisemitism on campus, I became a target of certain media voices determined to erase decades of my work, service, and scholarship with a few calculated, malevolent strokes of a pen. What these critics dont understand is this: its easy to destroy, but we are a nation of builders. Among my proudest accomplishments are creating a company, advancing research, discovering new medicinesthats what it means to build. Builders focus on innovation, problem-solving, and positive change, while destroyers are characterized by negativity and disruption, and strive to tear down existing systems. It takes passion, creativity, and courage to put yourself on the front line to create and share something with the world.Thats why I wanted to give back to my alma mater, which has given so much to me.The past few years, Ive seen how easy it is to destroy an institution, a reputation or a lifes work. Its even easier to do this from behind a computer, or behind a mask, where one doesnt need to take personal accountability for what theyve done. Its important to recognize that while this destruction attracts attention, its transient; positive change has long-lasting effects. My lifes work has taught me that creating is typically hard, unglamorous work. It does not make headlines. It does not go viral. It is not done from behind a mask or in the shadows of TikTok. It requires dedication, rigor, compassion, and commitment.Columbia University has consistently served as a hub for innovators. It has educated statesmen, Nobel laureates, and medical pioneers. Its laboratories have produced cancer therapies and climate models. Its classrooms have cultivated intellectuals who shaped economies and peace treaties.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe real Columbiamy Columbiais a monument of advancement shaped by generations of human endeavor. Monuments, however, can be vandalized and dismantled. And these ongoing campaigns have not been acts of civil dialogue; they have been acts of desecration. Of blaming rather than solving. Of tearing apart instead of sewing together. The world is full of destroyers. Their work is quick, loud, and rarely lasting. But it is the builders the creators - who carry humanity forward. This transcends Columbia University. It is about a moral choice that confronts our nationespecially those endowed with the power to shape Americas institutions. Do we elevate or dismantle? Do we empower students to think critically, find the truth, and then grow, or do we permit this new form of campus intimidation to silence those with opposing views and destroy educational opportunities for an entire generation? As parents, we can start our education of the next generation in our homes. We can teach our children to contribute positively to the world to help build up our society, rather than destroy. This education must continue at our nations top institutions, where our youngest leaders learn to grow through diversity of opinion. We must ensure adherence to nonviolent free speech, non-intimidation, willingness to hear ideas that are different to ones own and to learn with an open mind. Our educational institutions should reflect the hope, freedom and opportunity that our nation offers to all of us. Lets rebuild institutions like Columbia together to ensure that hatred and chaos do not dominate, and everyone feels included and respected. This is our generations moment to lead. Building necessitates bravery, and in turn our courage will spread across America.Lets build again.

Colorado pledges not to enforce gender identity rules for Christian children's camp after lawsuit
FIRST ON FOXColorado has formally agreed to exclude religious children's camps from the state's transgender accomodation licensing requirements after a Christian camp filed a federal lawsuit. In a new settlement agreement shared first with Fox News Digital, the Colorado Department of Early Childhood said it would not force Camp IdRaHaJe or other faith-based children's resident camps to adopt new gender identity rules in order to maintain a state license. The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) amended its state licensing rules in February to incorporate the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA). Under the new rules, children's resident camps in the state that are considered "places of public accommodation" must allow campers access to showers, sleeping and dressing facilities that align with the campers' gender identity. The department previously implemented gender identity rules regarding bathrooms in 2018.Camp IdRaHaJe, which derives its name from the hymn, "Id Rather Have Jesus," is a Christian childrens summer camp for kids ages 6 to 17 that has operated in the state since 1948.CHRISTIAN SUMMER CAMP SUES COLORADO OVER NEW TRANSGENDER RULEThe camp filed a legal complaint in May after allegedly being denied a request for a religious exemption last year. It argued that the state's new gender rules violate its religious beliefs.Last week, Colorado agreed to update the language in its licensing regulations, clarifying that "churches, synagogues, mosques or any other place that is principally used for religious purposes" are not considered "places of public accommodation" and are thus not beholden to the gender identity rules. It also agreed not to "cite, suspend its license, revoke its license or otherwise take enforcement action" against Camp IdRaHaJe based on alleged noncompliance with these regulations."This is a great victory for Camp IdRaHaJe, which is now protected from state action that would force it to comply with radical gender ideology policies that violate its deeply held religious beliefs," Alliance Defending Freedom senior counsel Ryan Tucker told Fox News Digital. "Thankfully, Colorado has also rightfully clarified that organizations principally used for religious purposes are now exempt from the new gender ideology rules."Tucker, one of Camp IdRaHaJe's legal representatives, said the agreement should provide "a sigh of relief" for other religious camps in the deep blue state.4-H FEDERALLY FUNDED CAMPS UNDER FIRE FOR CABINING KIDS, ADULT COUNSELORS BY 'IDENTITY'Although it was "unfortunate that it took a federal lawsuit" to solve the dispute, Camp IdRaHaJe is thrilled to put this behind them and get back to "focusing on the mission they've been called to," he added.Guidelines on the department's website were updated on June 20 clarifying that churches and camps used for religious purposes are excluded from these gender regulations. A memo was also sent out reflecting this update as well as the following statement:"These rules were adopted for the sole purpose of incorporating CADA into CDECs rules and do not alter, modify, or supersede the requirements of CADA or its implementing regulations," the Colorado Department of Early Childhood said. The department "has never interpreted or enforced licensing rules to require adherence to CADA and its accompanying rules unless a facility is a 'place of public accommodation' and this memo serves to formally confirm that interpretation," it continued."We are glad to support Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Jes understanding of their ability to provide a Christian camp experience to kids. The CDEC did not take any enforcement action against Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je related to any of the licensing regulations raised in the lawsuit and the camp was never under a threat of closure," said Dr. Lisa Roy, CDEC executive director.ADF said it voluntarily dismissed its lawsuit on Tuesday.

I'm a veteran and former Democratic congressman. Here's why the GOP ought to think hard about Iran
Washington -- and the entire world -- is on edge. A chaotic and undisciplined president just took military action against Iran, threatening to put American servicemembers in harm's way in the Middle East, with no clear strategy, outcomes, or endgame. Equally jarring, his GOP-led Congress has thus far rubber-stamped anything and everything President Donald Trump does out of fear of retribution. Most are now silent as bombs have been dropped without consent or consultation from Congress.Lets be clear, Iran is no friend to the United States. Iran obtaining nuclear weapons would be a threat to everyone, and especially our troops in the region. And should Iran strike at us without provocation, the president is already legally cleared to use any and all action to prevent harm to Americans.Being pro-Constitution does not mean being pro-Iran. Under the present circumstances, in the absence of any imminent threat from Iran, we need a congressional War Powers Act to enable any further military action. Period.TRUMP RECEIVES MIXED SUPPORT FROM CONGRESS FOR IRAN STRIKES AS WAR POWERS DEBATE RAGESIts clear that the Trump administration has presently operated without any long-term plan regarding Iran, to include working with Congress. We all know what happens when presidents send troops to war without a plan, measurable goals, or an exit strategy. I served in the military alongside people who made unimaginable sacrifices because elected leaders failed to do their jobs. I served in Afghanistan a decade after 9/11, as mission creep deepened and the war became increasingly unfocused and intractable.Republican members of Congress seem to believe there are no consequences for failing to uphold their constitutional duty -- only consequences for crossing Trump. Im here to tell you -- veterans will not abide this. Just as we did before, we will hold Congressional Republicans accountable for their failure to do their duty. When it comes to ending Republican majorities, I have a little bit of experience. In 2018, I won a solidly Republican district, in a Democratic wave, when President Trump failed to deliver and Republicans failed to hold him accountable.SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: AMERICA MUST NOT GO TO WAR WITH IRANShould President Trump continue taking us down this path with Iran without congressional authorization, and should Republicans abdicate their duty to demand a debate and vote on further military action, they will be utterly destroyed in the midterms. Thats not a prediction. Thats a promise.Anyone with two eyes can see that this administration has zero capacity or competence to handle complex missions foreign or domestic. From the performative deployment of troops to ve, to the reckless firings and rush to rehire government personnel who guard our nuclear weapons, to the chaotic tariff war that has left small businesses in turmoil, the Trump administration has proven itself unable to handle tough and complex missions. Meanwhile, Congressional Republicans have done nothing but sit by and cheer him on, failing their constituents. The dissatisfaction of the American people can be seen in polls, angry town halls and more.AOC, OTHER ANGRY DEMOCRATS, CALL FOR TRUMP IMPEACHMENT OVER ATTACK ON IRANThis moment demands congressional accountability, and none can be found from Republicans. In many ways, this all should remind us of President George W. Bushs disastrous war in Iraq -- when he arrogantly ignored his commanders and dragged America deeper into a catastrophic quagmire while his party did nothing but sit on the sidelines and failed to do their duty.Americans were angry. And in 2006 and 2008, veterans like the ones I now work with at VoteVets made sure Bush and his Republican enablers owned every single consequence. Iraq became their war and the cost in blood and treasure was put solely at their feet.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONVeterans organized. They ran for office. They supported non-veterans who would challenge Bush and swept out those who failed to do so.We have held Congressional Republicans accountable and have been working to get Democratic veterans who know the true price of service elected ever since. Were not going to stop now.Trump may not fear accountability, but the vulnerable Republicans silently enabling his dangerous path should pay closer attention. So, to Republicans watching silently: if you fail to act now, you'll have to answer to usand to every American who refuses to lose more of our husbands, wives, sisters and brothers to a needless war without debate or accountability. The choice is yours.

Diddy's freedom 'rises and falls' on Cassie Ventura testimony as lawyers prep for closing arguments: expert
Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team rested their case Tuesday without calling one witness to the stand, and more than seven weeks after a jury was seated in the rapper's federal trial for sex crimes. The government presented 34 witnesses to the jury in an attempt to prove their case, with jurors hearing explosive testimony from Diddy's ex-girlfriends, rapper Kid Cudi, former assistants and escorts who allegedly participated in "freak offs" arranged by the disgraced music mogul. With closing arguments scheduled to begin Thursday following a charge conference where both sides will finalize jury instructions, former federal prosecutor Mark Chutkow believes Cassie Ventura's testimony may be the most compelling evidence for the jury to hand down a conviction.Chutkow told Fox News Digital that the government argued their case by planning ahead and providing enough evidence to support the charges against the Bad Boy Records founder.DIDDY SAYS NOT TESTIFYING IS SOLELY MY DECISION, BOTH SIDES REST IN SEX CRIMES TRIAL"When you look at the indictment, it's very long. It's a speaking indictment, and they have ticked off all of the various facts that they had presented to the jury in that indictment," Chutkow said. "They brought in evidence of violence. They brought in evidence of guns, of drugs, of sex acts. And so they really came through with what they said that they were going to do in this case."Diddy was charged with racketeering conspiracy (RICO); sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution in a federal indictment unsealed Sept. 17."It was savvy to bring this as a racketeering case in some ways because it allowed them to bring in a lot more evidence of his bad acts that they wouldn't have otherwise been able to do if this was a very narrowly tailored case," Chutkow said. "And so in that respect, I mean, the case really rises and falls with the testimony of Cassie Ventura."Chuktow added, "If the jury believes it, if they believe that she really couldn't get away from him, and she had to do the things that he had requested, then the prosecution has gone a long way toward a conviction in this case."DIDDY DEFENSE'S COURTROOM STRATEGY IS A CALCULATED RISK: EXPERTJurors heard allegations of "freak off" parties involving male escorts and Diddy's ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The "Me & U" singer testified that drugs, including ecstasy, ketamine and cocaine, were in regular circulation during the "freak offs" for her to disassociate during the sessions.Cassie admitted that ecstasy made her feel euphoric and aroused, while ketamine would make her dissociative. She said cocaine made her heart race, mushrooms made her see things and GHB, also known as the date rape drug, made her feel drunk. She also claimed it was commonplace for Diddy to become "physical" with her in their relationship. She defined"physical"as punishment, beatings and kicking.Cassie testified that Diddy raped her on the living room floor in 2018, then left. At the time, she had been dating Alex Fine, who is now her husband. Cassie admitted to seeing Combs again after the alleged rape, telling the jury they had been together for 10 years and had a connection. Diddy and Cassie dated on-and-off from 2007 until 2018.Another ex, who testified under the pseudonym "Jane," told prosecutors there were times she felt coerced into hotel nights with Diddy and that he also still pays for both her legal fees and rent.Former federal prosecutor Anthony M. Capozzolo admitted that it will be difficult to predict what the jury may decide in this case.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS"The trial seems like it will come down to one central question: Were the women coerced or did they voluntarily participate in the prodigious sexual escapades called 'freak offs?'" Capozzolo told Fox News Digital. "It would seem that if the jury believes that Cassie Ventura and the other women were coerced, then Combs may likely face a conviction on one or more of the charges."Given that Combs presented no real substantive defense in the case, his fate may depend on how well his attorneys were able to attack the credibility of the women who testified and how well the defense is able to persuade the jury that their claims of coercion are unreliable."He added, "Defense attorneys will certainly argue that the fact that two of the women who were described as victims did not testify is a lack of evidence the jury can consider in determining if the government proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt."For the racketeering charges, Capozzolo questioned if there was an "actual agreement among the co-conspirators" to prove the necessary elements of racketeering conspiracy charges."In most racketeering cases, like mob cases, the government calls several co-conspirators, usually cooperators, who get on the stand and admit that they are part of a racketeering conspiracy in that they agreed to participate in an ongoing enterprise understanding that its purpose was to commit certain crimes," Capozzolo said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"But here, none of the witnesses at trial have testified to participating in a racketeering conspiracy. And some of the people whom the government identifies as key co-conspirators have never been charged, nor have they testified, such as Combs former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram."Still, Capozzolo clarified that the government provided compelling evidence to support their case which included testimony, videos, photos and text messages and will likely "take great care to marshal the evidence" when closing arguments begin."Even if prosecutors fail to convict on the top racketeering charge, the sex trafficking charges carry significant penalties, including a mandatory minimum 15-year sentence," Capozzolo said. "So even a 'compromise' verdict, rather than a straight acquittal, may prove costly to Combs."A federal RICO violation can result in a 20-year sentence per charge, the U.S. Code 2421 transportation charge can carry a sentence of up to 10 years, while U.S. Code 2422 Coercion and enticement may carry a 20-year sentence. Each of the violations may also include monetary fines.Criminal defense and civil attorneyAdant Pointer of Lawyers for the People LLC told Fox News Digital that while the prosecution may not be able to convince a jury of all charges, even one conviction will cost Diddy."Keep in mind, the prosecution only needs to prove a single charge about one of the several alleged victims in this case for Diddy to be facing significant prison time," Pointer told Fox News Digital. "So essentially, the prosecution only needs to win on a single charge, while Diddy needs to run the table on all the charges to avoid prison time."WATCH: SEAN DIDDY COMBS ASSAULTS CASSIE VENTURA IN 2016 LOS ANGELES HOTEL INCIDENTHe added, "If the defense successfully sows seeds of doubt in a single jurors mind, then the jury will be unable to reach a unanimous verdict, which is required to convict someone. However, he still faces a substantial challenge on the counts of transportation to engage in prostitution as it relates to the male prostitutes, since federal prosecutors have ample evidence, which appears to be mostly uncontroverted, that Diddy paid and arranged for the sex workers to fly to different locations to engage in sexual activity for money."CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPDuring opening statements of Diddy's trial, which began on May 5, Teny Geragos asked the jury to consider the federal charges, not the choices of an at-times violent man."Sean Combs is a complicated man, but this is not a complicated case," Teny told the court. "This case is about love, jealousy, infidelity and money. This case is about voluntary adult choices made by capable adults and consensual relationships. This case is about those real-life relationships, and the government is trying to turn those relationships into a racketeering case, a prostitution case and a sex trafficking case. It will not work."She noted that Diddy "has a bad temper" and at times gets "so angry or so jealous that he is out of control," but she emphasized that the "Victory" rapper was not charged with "being mean.""He is not charged with being a jerk. He's charged with running a racketeering enterprise," Teny said. "And though there was violence that you are going to hear about, you already have, that violence is not part of any RICO. That violence is not connected to sex trafficking, and that violence is not prostitution."

ASRA NOMANI: Irans ideological foot soldiers wage proxy war in America
Even as President Donald Trumpannounces a "Complete and Total ceasefire" between Israel and Iran, there is a chant that is certain to echo for weeks to come: "There is only one solution! Intifada revolution!"That was the fierce battle cry of a young Palestinian American man from the Party for Socialism and Liberation, as he pumped his fist in the air in front of the White House on Sunday, with protesters waving flags of Iran and Palestine beside him.REPUBLICANS CONGRATULATE TRUMP AMID IRAN CEASEFIRE AS DEMS HOLD BACK APPLAUSEA phalanx of young Iranian American girls stood nearby, watching intently, some of them chanting quietly along, others fidgeting with their head scarfs, tight around their faces in the sweltering 90-degree heat. This scene a disturbing portrait of youth absorbing radicalization was one front in a national propaganda war that a network of 93 groups with an estimated $100 million in annual revenues has unleashed on America in a coordinated proxy campaign for the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to my latest reporting for the Pearl Project, a nonprofit journalism initiative named for Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. I identify all of the groups by name in aPearl Project database I am updating in real time to document the professional protest industry sowing chaos in America. You can be certain the list will keep growing even amid talk of peace in the Middle East. This pro-Iran network includes socialist revolutionaries, Islamist activists, foreign-influenced nonprofits and even political operatives from Democratic groups including Indivisible Action, 50501 and Progressive Democrats of America groups that have fused their interests to topple power in America and created a coalition running cover for Americas enemies. They are the red-green alliance that I call theWoke Army. They arent buying the ceasefire because war stokes their agendas.About five of 10 of the groups are self-described Marxist, socialist, or communist, openly praising the Chinese Communist Party, Marx and Lenin. Another two of 10 of the groups are aligned with Islamist interests. The final three of 10 are socialist- and Islamist-adjacent groups, a disturbing place for Democratic groups to be.They do not disclose their donors, making them classic "dark money" groups.Early Sunday, at a press conference with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Cainwarned that "it would be a very bad idea for Iran or its proxies to attempt to attack American forces." Most Americans assumed he meant military operations. But the truth is: some of those proxies are already here. Not with bombs, but with bullhorns.Just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, the D.C. theater of this operation came into focus.A formation of about 20 members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition a self-described Marxist, Leninist, Communist group advanced across Lafayette Park with the discipline of a street-level infantry unit.At the front, two men carried cameras to capture the propaganda about to unfold. Behind them, two women in shorts and sneakers hauled a pop-up wooden stage. Three more followed, gripping the wooden handles of pre-printed placards with the message, "HANDS OFF IRAN," and laying the signs on the curb in front of the White House for easy pickup by demonstrators theyd summoned in an email blast. One young man in khaki shorts and sunglasses pushed a shopping cart filled with drums. Another pulled a collapsible red wagon loaded with megaphones and boxes of gear. Yet another cradled rolled-up banners.Even at this protest for Iran, demonstrators wore the black-and-white keffiyeh, the sartorial propaganda of the Palestinian intifada, because Irans "Death to Israel" slogan hasnt just inspired hatred; it has financed, armed and directed terrorism against Jews in Israel for decades. A man shrouded in a black face mask and the keffiyeh, held a drum over his shoulders, wearing the Party for Socialism and Liberations logo on the front and its motto on the back: "SOCIALISM IS THE FUTURE."ASRA NOMANI: THE $2.1B MACHINE BEHIND SPONTANEOUS ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTSThese foot soldiers moved with purpose and precision establishing their base directly in front of the White House gates. Like a field marshal, one of the men in sunglasses and khaki shorts directed two Black street vendors to give them space for their ideal staging ground and move their carts filled with SpongeBob Square Pants Popsicles, Blue Bunny cones and red-white-and-blue rocket pops. The vendors had been there since 10 a.m..But the organizers had a higher purpose that transcends any ceasefire: to deploy an asymmetric warfare campaign: delegitimizing the American government and destabilizing the nation from within in an operation that intelligence and law enforcement understand as "malign foreign influence" three words that every American should know. The mission statements, protest chants and statements of protest organizers at the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition reveal their real function is to advance ideological agendas that mirror the messaging of regimes like Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba. At last count, the pro-Iran groups are active in at least 50 cities nationwide from Ukiah, Ca., to Salisbury, Ct.. beyond any ceasefire. One of their field marshals opened the protest with a chant familiar to veterans of the anti-Israel movement: "Free, free Palestine!" They were the words that Elias Gonzalez, radicalized as a Party for Socialism and Liberation member, chanted after recently murdering two Israeli Embassy officials. Over the next hour, organizers followed a playbook: railing into the microphone against Trump, Israel and the United States. The leaders of the "red" wing of the Woke Army arent "anti-war" grassroots operations, and Americans should know their names and financial structures:Members of the pro-Iran "green" wing, representing the color associated with Islam, include:In the crowd on Sunday, Sara Hawrami, director of staff and operations at the National Iranian American Council, weaved through the crowd in front of the White House, distributing "NO WAR WITH IRAN!" signs from a bundle cradled in her arms. A man stood with a CodePink t-shirt that read: "PEACE WITH IRAN."The many organizations in the Woke Army dont register with the Justice Department under theForeign Agents Registration Act, despite many of them parroting propaganda lines from foreign regimes. In March, Itestified before the Senate Judiciary Committee urging senators to require these organizations to register as foreign agents. In April, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassleysent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel requesting investigations into CodePink and The Peoples Forum. "Secretive foreign lobbying and public relations campaigns by China and other adversaries undermines the political will and interests of the American people," Grasley wrote.Earlier this month, Senate Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer and other senatorssent a letter to Singam to produce documents into his funding of the Peoples Forum, the ANSWER Coalition and the Party for Socialism and Liberation and any ties between these organizations and the Chinese Communist Party. The senators have it right. What looks like decentralized activism is, in fact, a centralized political warfare strategy aimed directly at American institutions not just political parties. At the White House, a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation handed out flyers for the next big "direct action" a "National March on Washington" planned for June 28 at 1 p.m.The flyer included a QR code and a URL created by the ANSWER Coalition:answercoalition.com/j28. It offered a sign-up for New York residents to travel to D.C. by chartered bus from The Peoples Forum HQ on West 37th Street in Manhattan$60 per seat, or $120 for a "Solidarity Rate Ticket."In fine print at the bottom were the slick logos for their allies in the Woke Army, featuring the red wing the ANSWER Coalition, Code Pink, Democratic Socialists of America, The Peoples Forum and the green wing, represented by the Palestinian Youth Movement and the National Iranian American Council.Ironically, after seizing power in the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini quickly turned on one of the very groups that had helped galvanize the revolution: leftists and socialists, including influential thinkers like writer Ali Shariati. One of the most dangerous elements of these protest groups is their camouflage.NBC News,USA Today,India Today and other media outlets reported that "anti-war" protests "flood" the cities and "erupt" on the streets, with no mention of their radical agendas and propaganda for foreign powers.WE CAN'T IGNORE THE DANGER FROM THOSE WHO WANT TO GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA. WE MUST TAKE ACTIONSome media outlets even relied on footage from "Breakthrough News," a propaganda wing of the ANSWER Coalition, according to the2023 tax records for the Progress Unity Fund, which said it doled out $232,244 to ANSWER Coalition and other "progressive" organizations for "mobilizing hundreds of thousands of people in a mass action in Washington, D.C., that promoted a permanent ceasefire to end the war that took thousands of civilian lives in Gaza." It said it pumped another $45,000 to BreakThrough Media, based in New York City, for "Gen support educational programs."Sure enough, BreakThrough Medias camera crewposted a video on Instagram from the White House of the cute Iranian American children waving their placards behind the headline: "Iranian Children Join Anti-War Protest outside White House."Max Reed, 21, a member of the American Communist Party, stood at the edge of the protest, propping the only American flag in the crowd over his shoulder. "A lot of American so-called left-wing groups dont like the American flag and dont like the working class," he admitted.A comrade handed out a press release with the headline: "Against the Criminal Imperialist War on Iran," denouncing "the U.S. regime," "the Zionist entity" of Israel and "its agents."Photographers scrambled to take photos of the children, the perfect props for the ideological warriors leading the protests. One of their mothers stage-managed them behind the cameras. Their parents, who declined to share their names, said they had traveled from Michigan to visit relatives in the area and brought their children to the protest. That morning, they said their older children had made protest signs while sitting at the caf of theDiyanet Center of America in nearby Lanham, Md, a sprawling Turkish mosque, Islamic school, and restaurant complex built as a soft power project by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan, an Islamist. The parents said they bought fly swatters at a local Giant to use as makeshift handles for the protest signs. One of the mothers said she didnt support the Islamic Republic of Iran but didnt want war in her homeland. She said she didnt agree with the socialists in the crowd.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONBut messages on the signs were clearly politically aligned: "Impeach Trump," they read. Nearby, an Iranian-American woman with a keffiyeh tightly wrapped around her face, waved a black flag, beckoning the "mahdi," the messiah in the eschatology, or end times revelations, of Muslims in the Shia sect of Islam practiced in Iran. Finally at about hours end, the protest ended quickly. Demonstrators returned their signs to the curb by the White House gates, where a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation bundled them up with a rubber band.As the ideological operatives for the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition walked back into Lafayette Park with their pop-up stage, signs, red wagon and megaphones, another set of protestors, these ones from Democratic Socialists of AmericasResistFascism.org campaign, rolled onto Pennsylvania Avenue for their moment in front of the White House."War on Iran, we say no!" they chanted.Regular Americans smiled and laughed, mostly oblivious to the chants, taking selfies in front of the White House. The Iranian American parents hustled their children to the corner Peets Coffee for snacks. The vendors shouted, "Ice cold Gatorade!" and returned to selling their SpongeBob SquarePants Popsicles, uninterrupted, while the days ideologues headed home to upload their video footage to social media, later postingInstagram videos from across the nation to create the myth of the marching millions with headlines blasting: "HAPPENING NOW."CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM ASRA NOMANI
