Former college football coach Steve Spurrier appears skeptical of Arch Manning ahead of first year as starter
It's been just a couple of years since Arch Manning was arguably the most highly sought high school recruit in the nation. He decided on Austin, home of the Texas Longhorns. When Quinn Ewers was selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, it opened the door for Manning to become Texas' starting quarterback. While Manning did show flashes during his limited playing time over the past couple of seasons, former college football coach Steve Spurrier doesn't appear ready to buy the hype surrounding the young quarterback.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSpurrier, who coached the Florida Gators to a national championship in 1996, questioned why Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian elected to start Ewers over Manning the past couple of seasons considering Manning's much-discussed potential.TOP 10 COLLEGE FOOTBALL QBS IN 2025: CADE KLUBNIK, ARCH MANNING BATTLE FOR NO. 1"Most people are picking Texas to win the SEC in football," Spurrier said during a recent appearance on "Another Dooley Noted" podcast. "Theyve got Arch Manning already winning the Heisman, too. My question is, if he was this good, how come they let Quinn Ewers play all the time last year? He was a seventh-round pick?"You only have to ask Coach Sark how come you played that one instead of this one," Spurrier continued. "Hopefully, hell say, Because we thought he was better than that one. Isnt that why you play one guy and not the other? Unless it was discipline, and there was no discipline or anything."During Manning's time on the bench, he faced questions about whether he would leave Texas for another program that would give him an opportunity to play right away."It was tough. I mean, its tough in this age," Manning, 19, noted when he spoke to the media in April about waiting his turn, according to The Athletic. "Sometimes its worth the wait."Manning doubled down on his commitment to the Longhorns and said he hopes to remain in Austin for the foreseeable future."But I hope it pays off. Theres nowhere else I want to be," Manning said. "I want to be at Texas. Ive got friends here. I love this place. I'm getting out of here," said Julie. The reality TV stars, along with their children Savannah and Grayson, sat down with Fox News host Lara Trump for their first interview since Trumps presidential pardon and their subsequent release from prison.TODD CHRISLEY SAYS JAIL IS NOT MY FINAL DESTINATION,' HAS FAITH JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS GOING TO TURN IT AROUNDTodd said a fellow inmate stopped him while he was walking and told him that he believed he had just been pardoned. And I said, as good as I can be. And he said, Todd, you just got pardoned. They sent me down here to make sure you're OK. And I said, well, they don't need to be worrying about me now. Hell, if I'm pardoned, I'm great," Todd said."We owe thanks to God. And I say - and God touched President Trump's heart. God led thepeople to advocate for us. And so, I'm grateful because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I'm grateful."Todd and Julies daughter, Savannah, advocated for her parents release after they were convicted in June 2022 in a federal court in Atlanta, Georgia. Joy Reid says MSNBC fired her without warning, speculates her coverage of Trump, Gaza led to ouster
Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid speculated Tuesday that her coverage of President Donald Trump and the ongoing war in Gaza were unstated factors that led to her sudden ouster from the liberal network.During her appearance on "The Breakfast Club," Reid was asked what was behind her firing from MSNBC in February, insisting it wasn't a ratings issue despite the fact that the network's viewership took a huge dive after the 2024 election."And we had actually just had a ratings meeting, like, two weeks before I was fired, where they were like, 'You guys are actually losing - you guys lost less than, you know, your competitors, and you're actually doing fine,'" Reid said. "So ratings were fine. We were doing fine. And you know, the ratings have not gotten better since I left."MSNBC CANCELS JOY REID'S SHOW AS PART OF PROGRAMMING SHAKEUP AT LIBERAL NETWORKReid then pointed to a report about her being on the chopping block that surfaced the Friday before she was fired, which she at first thought was just a "rumor," but her producers began "freaking out" over what was alleged."We hadn't heard anything," Reid said. "Nobody had called me. Nobody had said, 'You did something wrong, you're in trouble, you're on probation.' I had gotten nothing. Then I get a text message early the next morning saying, Can you talk at noon? And I was fired immediately. There was no warning. And I asked, 'Well, what, you know, what's the [issue]?' Nothing. They were just like, Oh, we just want to make some changes. They never said why. So I've had to live in the rumor mill with everybody else."JOY REID WARNS MSNBC VIEWERS FASCISM IS ALREADY HERE IN HER FINAL SHOW AT LIBERAL NETWORKThe former "ReidOut" host went on to claim there were "two topics" that had made MSNBC management "uncomfortable.""One of them is Trump, because Trump is suing everybody," Reid said. "I mean, he's literally threatening people to the point where 60 Minutes is shook, where ABC News is shook. You know, he's verbally threatened Comcast by name, named [Comcast CEO] Brian Roberts by name, and all of these are businesses that want to do business that need the FCC approval. They actually have to have the federal government's approval to do mergers, acquisitions He can pull your license so it's like everybody is trying to navigate this really deranged man. So I think they're activating out of a sense of 'we don't want to poke the bear too much.'""I think the other piece is Gaza," she continued. "And you just can't get away from the fact that talking about Gaza in a way that humanizes Palestinians is not the usual way that cable news operates, or that any news in this country operates for whatever reason, that topic makes people uncomfortable."MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MEDIA AND CULTURE NEWSReid remained defiant following her ousting, saying at the time that she would not apologize for going "hard" on issues like Black Lives Matter, illegal immigrants, the 1619 Project and Gaza, as well as her opposition to Trump."I am not sorry I stood up for those things because those things are of God," Reid said in February. "And you know, I'm a church girl, too, and those are the things that I was taught were of God. So I'm not sorry. I'm just proud of my show."

Top Biden aide admits to Congress she directed autopen signatures without knowing who gave final approval
A former top aide to President Joe Biden said she was authorized to direct autopen signatures but was unaware of who in the president's inner circle was giving her final clearance, according to a source familiar with the aide's closed-door testimony in front of Congress Tuesday.Neera Tanden, the former director of Biden's Domestic Policy Council, testified for hours Tuesday during an interview in front of the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating the former president's mental acuity and his use of an automatic signature tool that allowed aides to sign pardons, memos and other important documents on Biden's behalf.During Tanden's interview before Congress, which lasted more than five hours, she told lawmakers that, in her role as staff secretary and senior advisor to the former president between 2021 and 2023, she was authorized to direct autopen signatures on behalf of Biden, an Oversight Committee official told Fox News. The system of approval used, according to Tanden's testimony relayed to Fox News, was inherited from previous administrations.WHO IS NEERA TANDEN? THE CONTROVERSIAL DEM OPERATIVE WHO TESTIFIED ON BIDEN'S MENTAL ACUITYBut Tanden, who said she had limited interactions with Biden, described an approval process that left her in the dark about who specifically was giving final approval on the decisions to use the automatic signature tool, sources told Fox News.Tanden testified that to get approval for the use of autopen signatures she would send decision memos to members of Biden's inner circle. However, she added that she was not aware of what actions or approvals took place between the time she sent the decision memo and the time she received it back with the necessary approval. When Tanden was asked whether she ever discussed Biden's health or his fitness to serve as president during her time as a top aide, including during the period of the former president's widely criticized debate performance last summer, Tanden said she did not. Lawmakers laid out a list of names of officials she could have potentially discussed it with, and Tanden said "no" to each name, according to a source familiar with her closed-door testimony.BIDEN INSISTS 'I MADE THE DECISIONS' AS REPUBLICANS INVESTIGATE WHITE HOUSE AUTOPEN USETanden did not speak to reporters on the way to the Capitol Tuesday morning. Upon exiting, she expressed her willingness to cooperate with the ongoing investigation."I just spoke with the House Oversight Committee, Majority and Minority Council. I answered every question, was pleased to discuss my public service and it was a thorough process. And I'm glad I answered everyone's question," Tanden told reporters. When subsequently asked whether there was any effort to hide Biden's condition, Tanden replied, "Absolutely not."In addition to Tanden, Biden's former White House physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, will appear for a deposition in front of House Oversight lawmakers after being subpoenaed by Republicans. In addition to OConnor and Tanden, the Oversight Committee plans to hear from Anthony Bernal, who served as a senior advisor to former first ladyJill Biden; Annie Tomasini, who was Biden's former deputy chief of staff; and Ashley Williams, who was the former deputy director of Oval Office operations under Biden.Oversight Republicans are also seeking interviews with officials who were some of Biden's closest confidants, including former chief of staff Ron Klain and Anita Dunn, a former senior advisor to the president for communications.

Joe Rogan asks Bernie Sanders if he will run for president again, what he would do on day one
Podcaster Joe Rogan asked Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.,on Tuesday about whether he will run for president again, and Sanders revealed the key issue he would prioritize.Sanders spoke about how he has called to pause military aid to Israel until they show more leniency toward starving citizens in Gaza by ending their blockade. Sanders went on to note the difficulty of passing such policy, criticizing Israel's influence on American politics. He singled out AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) as a key example, noting they "have already knocked off good members of Congress, and they will do it again.""So all I'm saying is you got a corrupt campaign finance system, on both sides, which is rejecting the will of the American people and end up supporting powerful special interests," Sanders said. "And if we do not get a handle on that issue, I worry very much about the future of American democracy."BERNIE SANDERS DENIES HE AND AOC ARE TRYING TO START THIRD PARTY, SAYS DEMOCRATS 'LACK A VISION OF THE FUTURE'"Are you gonna run for president again?" Rogan asked in response."I am 83 years of age," Sanders replied. "I'm not sure the American people would be too enthusiastic -"Rogan complimented Sanders for still being very "with it" and observed, "I mean, you're a couple of years older than Biden, right? Think of that. You could be off a lot worse."Sanders went on to speak about his "Fight Oligarchy" tour across the country, noting he has attained a wide variety of support from Americans across the political spectrum, and arguing that "there is growing dissatisfaction with the current politics in America, both parties, and people want a new vision, and people want a new vision for America."Later in the conversation, Rogan appeared to allude to the 2016 election and encouraged Sanders to imagine an alternate future where "you hadn't gotten derailed, and they hadn't conspired against you, and you actually became the Democratic candidate for president, and you won, what would you have done differently?"Sanders took a moment and asked, "How many hours do we have?"Rogan assured him they have "all the time in the world" and proceeded to ask, "What would you have done the first day in office?"CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURECLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Well, it's not just the first day in office," Sanders replied. "I would have dealt with this campaign finance reform issue."Sanders argued it would be better for elections to be funded by the government, so that every candidate gets the same amount of money to spend to make their case to the American public. While some might be concerned about taxpayers footing the bill for campaigns, he argued it "makes a lot more sense than having billionaires fund elections, which is what you got right now."

Many were upset about the young, irreverently named government employee being given access to government records to pursue DOGEs work.During his interview with Watters, Coristine said he had been looking through U.S. Treasury Department payment computers and finding a multitude of outgoing payments from the federal government that lacked details about who they were going to and why."So, one of our initiatives is to root out fraud and waste, and to do that we started looking at the payment computers. And, as mentioned earlier, theres no accounting of what payments actually go to in the payment computer," Coristine said. "You look at a specific line item $20 million.
