More Iranians with criminal histories arrested by ICE in Trump's security sweep: 'Worst of the worst'
EXCLUSIVE: At least five more Iranian nationals were arrested on Monday in addition to the 11 announced by the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday morning. On Monday, 45-year-old Mohammad Hassanpoor was arrested by officers in Baltimore and given a "Third County Notice." He was previously criminally convicted of "assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily injury," where he was sentenced to just under a year behind bars.He was also previously sentenced roughly three months behind bars for "battery: spouse/ex sp/date/etc." and sentenced to two years for stalking.Kaveh Abedi, 45, was arrested in Chicago on Monday for "violations of the Immigration and Nationality Act" and had a 2001 conviction for selling cocaine.HOSPITALS IN SANCTUARY CITIES COULD BE MOST VULNERABLE TO IRAN TERROR ATTACKS, WARNS EXPERTArish Rustami was also arrested and has a prior sex offense, and Abdolmohammad Raghibzadeh was taken into ICE custody on Monday. Hes had a deportation order since November 2005 from an Arizona immigration judge, and hes currently an Iranian citizen, according to ICE.In 1999, he previously faced arrests for "domestic violence, vandalism and intimidation" and faced 90 days behind bars and five years of probation as a result. He faced two other arrests and jail time for "violations of probation of the previous crimes."In May 2006, Raghibzadeh could not get proper paperwork to go back to Iran, so he was given an "order of supervision" and then released. But in 2007, he was arrested again by sheriffs in Santa Ana, Calif., for not following probation and had to spend the rest of it at the California Chino Detention Center, according to ICE.Sahand Yousefinasrabadi was arrested Monday by federal authorities "during targeted enforcement action" in Forth Worth, Texas. Yousefinasrabadi was convicted in Sept. 2013 of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and he was asked in October 2013 to leave the U.S. by an immigration judge.EX-ICE CHIEF WARNS BIDEN'S BORDER CRISIS LIKELY FUELED IRANIAN SLEEPER THREAT IN USThe arrests come amid concerns about Iranian sleeper cells in the United States following the strikes on nuclear sites in the Middle Eastern nation. While there is currently a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, DHS noted the arrests made since Sunday.CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGE"Under Secretary Noem, DHS has been full throttle on identifying and arresting known or suspected terrorists and violent extremists that illegally entered this country, came in through Bidens fraudulent parole programs or otherwise," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement about the initial 11 arrests that were publicly announced."We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst outand we are. Tom Homan warns Iranian 'sleeper cells' could be hiding in US as result of Biden's border crisis
Biden-era open border policies have ignited concerns that Iranian "sleeper cells" could be lying in wait inside the U.S., eager to retaliate after tensions with the U.S. adversary reached a boiling point over the weekend, and the prospect has officials on high alert.Border czar Tom Homan called it the "biggest national security vulnerability" the U.S. has ever seen."It's a significant threat," he said Tuesday on FOX Business' "Mornings with Maria."HOSPITALS IN SANCTUARY CITIES COULD BE MOST VULNERABLE TO IRAN TERROR ATTACKS, WARNS EXPERT"The average under the Biden administration every single day was 1,800 known gotaways these are people we knew came to the United States and entered illegally. We don't know who they are, where they came from, why they're here, but they got away."Homan stressed that the sleeper cell prospect has been one of his top concerns for years. Now, the Trump administration is focused on "clean[ing] up" the mess left by the previous administration, an effort that started with securing the border."We knew we had a big job to do, and we're working on it," he said.Former acting DHS secretary Chad Wolf echoed Homan in citing the countless number of unidentified foreign nationals who poured across the U.S. border under former President Biden's tenure.EX-ICE CHIEF WARNS BIDEN'S BORDER CRISIS LIKELY FUELED IRANIAN SLEEPER THREAT IN US"This is a real concern, and, unfortunately, four years of the Biden administration will eventually have consequences," Wolf said during an appearance on "America's Newsroom" on Tuesday.Speaking to guest host Bill Melugin, he warned that "Hezbollah and Hamas and others" are already in the United States."We'll see if they are activated. We'll see if they're inspired. The FBI and local law enforcement I know they're doing everything that they can" he added.A senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) source recently revealed that over 1,500 Iranian nationals who illegally entered the U.S. at the southern border were arrested under the Biden administration, and nearly 50% of them were released back into the country.Hours after President Trump addressed the nation about successful military strikes against key Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, the DHS issued a memo sounding the alarm on a "heightened threat environment" in the U.S.The bulletin came as Iranian officials warned of retaliation against the U.S., but did not cite any specific threats.Fox News' Greg Wehner and Bill Melugin contributed to this report.

Chicago Tribune warns New York to avoid socialist mayoral candidate after 'mistake' Brandon Johnson
The Chicago Tribunes editorial board warned New York City Democratic voters on Monday against nominating Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, in Tuesdays mayoral primary, urging them to look to Chicago as a warning. The Tribune told New Yorkers that they've "seen this movie before and the ending isn't pretty," detailing the hardships their city has faced after electing Mayor Brandon Johnson, also a democratic socialist, in 2023.Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's lead over Mamdani has been shrinking in recent polling of the Democratic Party primary race for mayor, showing the New York state assemblyman gaining momentum as the primary election gets closer.TRUMP FRONT-AND-CENTER AS NATION'S BIGGEST CITY HOLDS PRIMARY ELECTION FOR MAYORThe Chicago outlet noted that many of Mamdani's ideas for how to run the city differ vastly from Cuomo but are closely aligned with Johnson's initiatives, which the editorial board warned have failed the city."Mamdani wants to freeze rents, open city-owned grocery stores, provide bus service for free, tax corporations and the 1%, and increase the minimum wage to $30, among other left-wing positions that differ greatly from Cuomo," the outlet pointed out.The Tribune went on to list some of the policies that their mayor proposed, but failed to implement including a $300 million tax hike and a "mansion tax" which would have spiked the real estate transfer tax."Hes built too few affordable housing units for too much money. Hes isolated himself from many of the state and federal officials he hopes will come to his financial rescue, and hes done egregious special favors for the people who got him elected namely, pushing an incredibly costly new contract with the Chicago Teachers Union," they claimed, adding, "His city is broke, but he wants to spend more."CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST MEDIA AND CULTURE NEWSThe editorial board noted that while Johnson is one of the most progressive mayors in the U.S., Mamdani is "inarguably" more radical. The paper went on to predict that NYC's mayoral race will come down to voter turnout, warning that the steep drawdown in turnout in the city would likely favor the democratic socialist candidate rather than Cuomo. The city's ranked choice voting system allows residents to list up to five candidates in their order of preference. If no candidate manages to obtain 50% of first-choice votes, the candidate with the least votes is eliminated and the ballots are redistributed to voters' next choices. The process repeats itself until one candidate receives the majority of votes.Mamdani and fellow progressive mayoral candidate Brad Lander have used the city's ranked choice voting process to their advantage cross-endorsing one another in the hopes of preventing Cuomo from reaching the 50% of the vote needed to become mayor."Low turnout makes it easier for radicals to capture public office," the outlet claimed. "And thats a mistake we hope New Yorkers dont make. If New Yorkers are frustrated with Mayor Eric Adams, they should be careful not to trade him for someone who might preside over a city that is less competitive and less financially secure.""Trust us we're living that reality," the Chicago Tribune warned.

UN chief praises Trump for Iran-Israel ceasefire days after condemning US strikes
United Nations Secretary-General Antnio Guterres offered rare praise for President Donald Trump on Tuesday, after the president announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Guterres, a vocal critic of Trump, issued the positive statement just days after condemning the U.S. strikes in Iran."I very much welcome President Trumps announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. I urge the two countries to respect it fully. The fighting must stop," Guterres wrote. "The people of the two countries have already suffered too much. It is my sincere hope that this ceasefire can be replicated in the other conflicts in the region."TRUMP LASHES OUT AT ISRAEL AND IRAN WITH PROFANITY FOR BREAKING CEASEFIREOn June 22, after the U.S. struck Irans nuclear facilities, Guterres said the actions taken by the U.S. marked "a perilous turn in a region that cannot endure another cycle of destruction." One day earlier, the U.N. chief offered a similar condemnation, saying he was "gravely alarmed" by the strikes."There is a growing risk that this conflict could rapidly get out of control with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world," Guterres wrote.ISRAEL-IRAN CONFLICT: LIVE UPDATESTrump announced a ceasefire just over 48 hours after Guterres warning, putting an end to what the president called the "12-Day War" likely a reference to Israel's historic 1967 Six-Day War.On Tuesday, Trump expressed frustration with both Israel and Iran as the ceasefire appeared to be on the verge of faltering. He told reporters he was "not happy with Israel" after the country took what he saw as aggressive action just before the ceasefire went into effect. The president was also upset when Israel vowed to retaliate after Iran allegedly broke the ceasefire, something that Tehran denied.Trump later announced that Israel would not attack Iran and that the countrys planes would "turn around and head home." In a subsequent post, he reaffirmed his opposition to Iran possessing a nuclear weapon and vowed that Tehran would "never" rebuild its facilities. The president also insisted that both sides wanted to end the war "equally."

Bondi vows to 'protect every religion in this country' after Wray-era controversy
Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke about the Department of Justice's (DOJ) efforts to protect religious freedom rights during a House hearing Monday and indicated to lawmakers that she was focused on a range of religions, from Judaism to Islam."It's not only Catholics, it's every religion, and even mosques that were slow-walked under the Biden administration and not allowed to open," Bondi said. "We will protect every religion in this country."The attorney general's remarks came in response to questions from Rep. Riley Moore, R-W. Va., who asked what budget resources Bondi needed to "eradicate anti-Christian bias" in the department.TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CRACKS DOWN ON ANTISEMITISM AS DOJ OFFICIAL EXPOSES VIOLENT RHETORIC OF PROTESTERSBondi also referenced recent high-profile incidents that appeared to be rooted in antisemitism, including the murder of two people who worked at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. The pair were gunned down in May outside the Capitol Jewish Museum by a man who shouted "free Palestine!" as he was arrested.Bondi's nod to mosques was an apparent reference to a handful of blue-leaning states closing all religious buildings as part of their COVID-19 protocols in 2020 during the Trump administration. The attorney general said she talks "almost daily" with the DOJ Civil Rights Division, which handles discrimination cases, and she commended division head Harmeet Dhillon, who has upended the division and shifted its focus, in part, to religious freedom."They are working to protect people of all religions," Bondi said.SUSPECT CHARGED WITH MURDERING ISRAELI EMBASSY STAFF COULD FACE DEATH PENALTYMoore also broached a controversial internal memo that originated in the FBI Richmond Field Office under former FBI Director Christopher Wray. The memo, which Congress made public in 2023 after receiving it from an FBI whistleblower, offered a threat assessment of "radical-traditionalist Catholics."The internal document laid out what the FBI perceived as a pattern of extremism among a small group of Catholics, identifying them as those who opposed modern-day popes, held "extremist ideological beliefs," and "engaged in violent rhetoric."The document pointed to three real-life examples of criminal suspects who identified with that sect of Catholicism to illustrate its point, and it used the Southern Poverty Law Center, a left-leaning nonprofit, to bolster its assessment. In response to backlash, the FBI retracted the memo. Wray later said he admonished employees involved with making it but also said he did not uncover any "bad faith conduct" among them.Bondi said during Monday's hearing that under her tenure, the DOJ will not use the Southern Poverty Law Center as a resource.

'Star Wars' actor trashes Trump immigration policies while guest-hosting 'Kimmel'
"Star Wars" franchise star Diego Luna trashed President Donald Trump's "authoritarian" immigration policies while he was guest-hosting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday.Luna argued that "nobody leaves their land if its not because their survival depends on it," and slammed the Trump administration for its efforts to deport those living in the country illegally. The actor opened up the show by addressing how important he felt it was for a Mexican to be hosting the show "with everything going on in this country around immigration and the authoritarian policies of Donald Trump."LA-BASED JIMMY KIMMEL CLAIMS 'THERE'S NO RIOT OUTSIDE' AS HE BLASTS 'MENTALLY ILL' TRUMP"I know, its a big deal. Its a big deal, and I really hope not to f--- it up," he told the audience. "The first time that I voluntarily set foot in the territory known as the United States, I was 20 years old, after the success of [2001 film] Y Tu Mam Tambin."Luna, who starred in the "Star Wars" series "Andor" and movie "Rogue One," went on to detail his experience of traveling to Los Angeles to work on film productions and the comfort he found in the large immigrant community in the city."I spent long seasons working here back when people still made movies in L.A., until I felt alone and homesick. And just as I felt that, I immediately found a community that came out to support me, to show me their love, and to remind me that something holds us together our common roots," he said. The "Andor" star shared that the people who lifted him up and supported him throughout his career were immigrants or children of immigrants who came to the U.S. "in order to work and build a healthy, enjoyable, and dignified life, away from their place of origin."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREAccording to Luna, all the immigrants he's met in the city share an "unspoken gratitude" for the U.S., while also contributing to the "cultural exchange" in L.A. by bringing their stories, loyalties and traditions from home with them.Luna questioned how the president was able to "acquire this level of power" and how his "hate speech" was able to take root in America.Earlier, in his opening monologue, the actor called the administration's deportations in L.A. "very unfair" and claimed that "the multiple times that this country has had to rebuild itself, immigrants were always there to pick up the slack.""These have been a dark few weeks," he said in closing. "It is not acceptable nor is it normal to separate families. Violence and terror are not OK. Immigrants need to know that their struggle is yours as well."

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: America must not go to war with Iran
American involvement in the war against Iran remains unclear. On Saturday, President Donald Trump launched an attack against Irans nuclear facilities. On Sunday, he talked about the possible need for regime change there. On Monday, he thanked Iran for their restrained military response, and shortly afterward announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. What will tomorrow bring? I have no idea. But I do know that the United States must not get involved in a war with Iran. We do not need another unnecessary and costly war. We have had enough of them.In 1964, the U.S. Congress voted, with little debate, for a Gulf of Tonkin resolution giving President Johnson the authority to escalate American military involvement in Vietnam. As a result, the U.S. expanded its presence in that country and was dragged fully into Vietnams civil war.WATCH: BERNIE SANDERS REACTS TO TRUMP'S IRAN STRIKES IN REAL TIME AT 'FIGHTING OLIGARCHY' RALLYEventually, some 2.7 million Americans served in Vietnam, and more than 58,000 died, with over 300,000 wounded. The Vietnam War devastated an entire generation. It also killed millions of Vietnamese and destabilized the region. In Cambodia, that instability gave rise to the Khmer Rouge, who oversaw a genocide that killed between 1.5 and 3 million Cambodians. The war cost U.S. taxpayers many hundreds of billions of dollars. The Vietnam War was based on a series of lies.Years later, the U.S. government concluded that the supposed attacks that prompted the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution did not happen as reported. The so-called "domino theory" the ideological foundation of the war was bogus. This was a war that never should have been fought. In 2002, as a member of Congress, I can recall vividly how politicians and the media relentlessly beat the drum about the need to go to war against Iraq and its leader, Saddam Hussein.Over and over again, we were told that Iraq was building weapons of mass destruction, and that if we did not act quickly, nuclear weapons would soon fall on America.Among those pushing for war in Iraq in 2002 was none other than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who testified to Congress that: "There is no question whatsoever that Saddam is seeking...nuclear weapons." Netanyahu promised: "If you take out Saddam's regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations." President George W. Bush similarly said:"Saddam's regime is seeking a nuclear bomb." He argued for a preemptive attack, saying: "We cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun, which could come in the form of a mushroom cloud."BERNIE SANDERS SAYS ISRAELI PM 'WRONG' BOTH IN THE PAST AND NOW: 'WE MUST NOT GET INVOLVED IN NETANYAHUS WAR'The United States, against my vote in Congress, invaded Iraq and became involved in a brutalsectarian war there that lasted almost a decade. No weapons of mass destruction were ever found. The war was based on a lie a lie that cost us 4,500 young Americans killed, 32,000 wounded, and $3 trillion in taxpayer dollars wasted. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis also died, and the entire region was destabilized for a generation.War often has awful and unintended consequences. It should only be considered as a last resort. We should not be at war with Iran. First, let me state the obvious: Trumps attack against Iran is unconstitutional. Congress alone has the authority to take this country to war, not the President.Trump, at this point, does not have that authority.Second, nobody seriously believes that Iran is a military threat to the United States. Just a few months ago, Trumps own Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified to Congress that the American intelligence community "continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003." There was no imminent threat justifying a preemptive attack.FAR LEFT, ANTI-ISRAEL VOICES DECRY TRUMP IRAN STRIKE, DISMISS IDEA HE'S 'ANTIWAR PRESIDENT'Third, Benjamin Netanyahu should not be dictating U.S. foreign and military policy.Trumps attack on Iran would not have occurred if Israel had not launched an illegal, unprovoked surprise attack on Iran on June 13th, sabotaging U.S. diplomatic efforts to address Irans nuclear program. In fact, Israel assassinated the Iranian official overseeing those talks. If the people of Israel support Netanyahus decision to start a war with Iran, that is their business and their war. The United States should not be a part of it.Fourth, in this moment in history, the United States should not be allied with the Netanyahu government in any military effort. Netanyahu is a war criminal indicted by the International Criminal Court for starving and killing civilians in Gaza. His government is systematically destroying the Palestinian people. Israel has killed over 55,000 Palestinians and wounded nearly 130,000 two-thirds of whom are women and children. The entire physical infrastructure of Gaza housing, hospitals, schools, and water systems has been almost totally destroyed. To this day, Israel continues to prevent the U.N. and other aid groups from delivering desperately-needed humanitarian aid to starving civilians, in violation of U.S. and international law.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONFifth, this war is about more than Israel and Iran. It is about the very concept of international law and preventing a world where every dispute is settled through force. Whatever you think of the brutal and authoritarian Iranian regime, Netanyahus surprise attack was a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. One nation does not have the right to attack another country anytime it wants for any reason. The world appropriately condemned Russia for its unprovoked attack against Ukraine. The world appropriately condemned Hamas for their unprovoked terrorist attack against Israel.Israel should be condemned for its unprovoked attack against Iran and the United States should not be part of that illegal action. Finally, wars are extremely expensive. At a time when the working class of this country faces major crises in housing, health care, childcare, education, climate, and other areas, we should be investing our resources in improving life for the American people, not wasting money on illegal and unnecessary wars.Last year alone, the United States provided $22 billion in military aid to Israel. Enough is enough. It is beyond absurd that we continue to finance Israels wars while neglecting the needs of our own people.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM SEN. BERNIE SANDERS
