Major US cities on high alert following airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities
Authorities in New York and Washington are on high alert after U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday night."Were tracking the situation unfolding in Iran," NYPD said in a post on X. "Out of an abundance of caution, we're deploying additional resources to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites across NYC and coordinating with our federal partners. Well continue to monitor for any potential impact to NYC."Shortly thereafter, the Metropolitan Police Department released a similar statement on the social media platform.NYPD RAMPS UP SECURITY AT JEWISH SITES ACROSS NYC AFTER ISRAELI STRIKES ON IRAN"The Metropolitan Police Department is closely monitoring the events in Iran," the statement said. "We are actively coordinating with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to share information and monitor intelligence in order to help safeguard residents, businesses, and visitors in the District of Columbia."MPD said there are no known threats to the District, but that it will increase its presence at religious institutions across the city.Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass posted on X, noting that following the bombings in Iran, the city is "closely monitoring any threats to public safety.""There are no known credible threats at this time and out of an abundance of caution, LAPD is stepping up patrols near places of worship, community gathering spaces and other sensitive sites," Bass wrote in the post. "We will remain vigilant in protecting our communities."SHOOTING AT CAPITAL JEWISH MUSEUM HIGHLIGHTS RISING WAVE OF ANTI-JEWISH HATE CRIMESPaul Mauro is a Fox News contributor and former NYPD Inspector who monitored terror cells in the city."[NYPD] will put out special attention patrol cars at locations that could track to the conflict in places that have an Israeli connection, and there's a couple of Shia mosques - Iran, is Shia - and there are a couple of Shia mosques," Mauro told Fox News Digital. "You never know what's going to develop. So [they'll] liaise with those communities. They'll talk to them, they'll put special patrol, special attention patrol.""In some instances, they'll even put out what they call a HOW car, which is called a house of worship car, which is, they'll park a marked car right in front of the location."More than anything, Mauro said, the authorities are monitoring online chatter from potentially dangerous bad actors."You're going to look very closely online," he said. "You're going to be monitoring a lot of the online stuff. NYPD has a very robust cyber counterterrorism program, and you're going to do that very heavily."Mauro said that local authorities in Washington will do the same, and also that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be keeping a close eye on who is entering the country."You're also going to be looking closely at things coming into the country, to the extent that you can, like at the border, at the airports CBP is going to be on high alert."

Retired general tells CNN he's 'impressed' by Trump striking Iran, says American lives potentially saved
Retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Saturday that he was impressed by the U.S. strikes against Iran's nuclear sites, praising President Donald Trump's use of "deception and trickery.""Im fascinated and, candidly, Im impressed," he said. "I never really could understand what the two-week pause meant, or what it was for, what was left to negotiate, what were we going to expect the Iranians to offer? In many ways, it was much like a Trump deal. I mean, hes trying to make a deal to buy an apartment, but all of a sudden the apartment was destroyed, so wheres the negotiation? So I think the use of deception and trickery in this case, first of all, was successful. But second of all, saved the potential loss of American lives."Trump announced Saturday that the U.S. had struck three Iranian nuclear sites. The president said the Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities were "totally obliterated" during a brief address from the White House.Cooper also asked Kimmitt about the effects and what U.S. forces should be worried about in the region.MISDIRECTION AND 'DECEPTION' LIKELY KEY IN TRUMP ADMINS SURPRISE IRAN STRIKE"They should be very concerned," Kimmitt said. "Look, the Iranians are down, but theyre not out. The fact remains is the proxy networks, while diminished, are still lethal. You take a look at the significant number of Iranian-backed militias in Iraq alone, they can put up quite a fight and put a significant amount of American interests, American troops, American infrastructure at risk."Kimmitt served as the assistant Secretary of State for political-military affairs under former President George W. Bush.Trump addressed the nation following the U.S. military's strikes on the trio of Iranian nuclear facilities.NOT CONSTITUTIONAL: CONGRESS INVOKES NEW WAR POWERS RESOLUTION TO REJECT TRUMP'S STRIKES ON IRAN"A short time ago, the U.S. military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan," he said. "Everybody heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise. Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity, and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's number one state sponsor of terror. Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success."He said Iran was now backed into a corner and "must now make peace."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe president also threatened far greater attacks against Iran if the country didn't come to the table.Fox News' Emma Colton contributed to this report.

Trump launches precision strikes against Iran. Triumph or trap?
Until Saturday night, the world waited to see whether President Donald Trump would join Israels campaign against Irans nuclear infrastructure. Now we have the answer. In a televised address from the White House, President Trump called the strikes a "spectacular military success" and a "historic moment for the United States, Israel, and the world." He confirmed that FordowIrans deeply buried nuclear enrichment site near Qomwas among the targets, and warned, "There are many targets left." His message was clear: Iran must "make peace or face tragedy far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days."The U.S. has struck decisively. Whether the strike succeeds in halting Irans nuclear programas the president boldly claimsremains to be seen. What is clear is that the geopolitical fuse is lit, and the consequences are just beginning. Was There Clear Justification? So far, the administration has not provided public evidence that Iran was mere "weeks away" from building a nuclear bomb, as the White House press secretary alleged. That claim may have helped justify the strike, but it rests more on assumption than on firm intelligence.TRUMP ADDRESSES NATION ON 'SPECTACULAR MILITARY SUCCESS' OF US STRIKES ON IRANIAN NUCLEAR FACILITIESYes, Iran has enriched uranium to near weapons-grade levelsbut that alone does not make a bomb. Tehran still needs to master warhead design, detonator synchronization, reentry shielding, and delivery systems. There is no verified proof it has done so.As I wrote for Fox News last week, bombs can destroy facilitiesbut they cannot erase knowledge. Many of Irans scientists are still alive, and their motivation may now be stronger than ever.Iran Will Choose to FightTehran now faces a choice: capitulate or retaliate. Based on history, ideology, and culture, the odds overwhelmingly favor retaliation.Surrender is antithetical to Irans revolutionary mindset. The Islamic Republic has endured war, sanctions, and sabotage. Its leadership interprets resistance as divine duty. This strike may have weakened Irans enrichment infrastructure, but it will likely strengthen the regimes resolve.MISDIRECTION AND 'DECEPTION' LIKELY KEY IN TRUMP ADMINS SURPRISE IRAN STRIKEIran retains extensive capabilities: ballistic missiles, global proxy networks, cyber weapons, and elite paramilitary forces. This is not the endit is the beginning of a new phase.Four Likely Iranian ResponsesWas This a Strategic Miscalculation? If President Trump acted without solid intelligence, the risk is real: that we have provoked a long war on shaky grounds. Unlike the Iraq invasion in 2003, Irans enrichment program is genuinebut neutralizing it with airstrikes alone will not work. This war, if it escalates, will not be fought on our terms.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWhat is more, the strike could backfire politically inside Iran. Rather than destabilizing the regime, it may unify it. Public humiliation of key sites like Fordow plays directly into the regimes "Great Satan" narrative, fueling nationalism and quelling dissent.Prepare for a Shadow WarThe U.S. and its allies must now pivot quickly to containment, deterrence, and resilience. Air defenses must be reinforced. Cyber infrastructure must be secured. Intelligence agencies must track Iranian networks abroad. And most importantly, diplomatic channels must remain opento allies and, when possible, to adversaries. This is not the time for complacency. It is a time for clear strategy, disciplined leadership, and vigilance. After the Applause, the ReckoningThe deed is done. Irans nuclear sites lie in ruinsbut its will to retaliate is not. President Trumps triumphant tone "Fordow is gone," he declaredmay play well politically, but it also risks underestimating a hardened adversary.Iran has absorbed assassinations, sanctions, and cyberattacks. It has endured war and isolation. What it has not donewhat it is unlikely to do nowis give up.The American people must be preparednot just for victory narratives, but for volatility. The battlefield ahead is asymmetric, unpredictable, and global. It will test not only our military but our wisdom. The question now is no longer whether we acted. The question is: Was it worth the cost?CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM ROBERT MAGINNIS

Far left, anti-Israel voices decry Trump Iran strike, dismiss idea he's 'antiwar president'
Far-left and anti-Israel voices were among those who condemned PresidentDonald Trumps strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities Saturday."This is a war crime," Mehdi Hasan, editor-in-chief and CEO of Zeteo, posted on X Saturday. "And a violation of the UN Charter and the NPT. The antiwar president. What a disgrace."Trumpsaid Saturday that the United States completed a "very successful" strike against Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, saying that Irans nuclear enrichment installations have been "obliterated."TRUMP RECEIVES MIXED SUPPORT FROM CONGRESS FOR IRAN STRIKES AS WAR POWERS DEBATE RAGES"Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success," Trump said, flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth."Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," Trump added. "Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier."But the far-left is pushing back, with some, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., calling the strikes grounds for impeachment."The Presidents disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers," Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday on X. "He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment."Tommy Vietor, co-host of Pod Save America anda former official under PresidentBarack Obama, said that Trump has brought the U.S. into war."Obamas Iran nuclear deal was working until Trump pulled out of it," Vietor said.MISDIRECTION AND 'DECEPTION' LIKELY KEY IN TRUMP ADMINS SURPRISE IRAN STRIKE"His own staff warned him not to because the alternative was war," Vietor added. "Well, now were at war with Iran because Trump is weak, stupid and hated Obama more than he cared about preventing Iran from getting a nuke.""Media critic" Sana Saeed called the strikes an act of war."Lots of speculation about the U.S. strikes as performative, about Iran getting tipped off (as tho any country wouldnt preemptively protect its targeted assets)," Saeed said."Dont fall into it. The U.S. government authorized strikes on a sovereign nation at the behest of a foreign country currently waging war against that nation (and others)," she added. "The U.S., with these strikes, has entered the war on Iran. Thats what we know and what needs to frame our understanding. Were U.S. 'military goals' accomplished? Probably not - because actually destroying the nuclear sites & assets kills the (unjustified) pretext for a greater war on Iran and regime change".MSNBC's Chris Hayes said, "Just to be crystal clear: bombing Iran is completely illegal," while former ThinkProgress editor Judd Legum simply stated, "America has entered another unnecessary war in the Middle East."Krystal Ball, a former MSNBC host and fervent Israel critic, wrote, "Trump did not get dragged into war. He wasnt caught off guard by the Israeli bombing. He greenlit a regime change operation after pledging repeatedly to bomb Iran on the campaign trail. Every one of these supposed anti-war MAGA officials are absolute frauds."In another post on Bluesky, the far-left "Mueller, She Wrote" account said, "Weve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the Pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably wont share intel with us. Because people couldnt vote for a woman."Trita Parsi, founder and former president of the National Iranian American Council, said Saturday on MSNBC that "I think the most important thing to understand in this situation that Donald Trump most likely ensured that Iran will be a nuclear weapon state five to 10 years from now, particularly if there is regime change. Nothing motivates a country more to actually go for a nuclear deterrence than having been bombed."Trump's posture toward Iran has divided segments of his own base, too, with some on the right saying an "America First" policy would not get the country embroiled in a Middle East conflict."Every time America is on the verge of greatness, we get involved in another foreign war," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., wrote on X. "There would not be bombs falling on the people of Israel if Netanyahu had not dropped bombs on the people of Iran first. Israel is a nuclear armed nation. This is not our fight. Peace is the answer."
