EXCLUSIVE: 'Refugees in their own country': Samaritan's Purse steps into Israel's war zones with needed relief
In a country facing war on two fronts, the Christian aid group Samaritans Purse is making a big impact. From building armored ambulance stations to promising a new trauma recovery center on the spot, the U.S.-based Christian humanitarian aid group is stepping into dangerous areas to help people still living with fear every day.Edward Graham, chief operating officer of Samaritans Purse and grandson of Rev. Billy Graham, spent June 2 visiting Israels tense northern and southern borders. He met with survivors, soldiers, medics and local leaders still trying to recover from recent attacks by Hezbollah and Hamas.EXCLUSIVE: FRANKLIN GRAHAM LEADS CEREMONY AS SAMARITANS PURSE GIVES ARMORED 'BULLETPROOF' AMBULANCE TO ISRAEL"We go where other people dont or wont," Graham said during a visit to Arab al-Aramshe, a northern Israeli village hit by Hezbollah missiles and drones. "Not just because we love you, but because God loves you."Before arriving, Graham flew low over the Jordan River Valley, just beyond the West Bank."These communities were hit up here, and they are also forgotten about," he said. "But Samaritans Purse hasnt forgotten them. Weve got great relationships with local community leaders and churches in the area. These people are hurting. Thats why were here to let Israel know theyre not forgotten. And God bless them."Arab al-Aramshe is still picking up the pieces after a deadly drone strike blew the roof off the local community center and killed a man who was trying to protect it. Shrapnel still scars the building. Samaritans Purse is building a new ambulance station in the nearby town of Shlomi to serve Arab al-Aramshe and surrounding communities.ISRAEL HOSTAGE DEAL IN DOUBT AS HAMAS ADDS DEMANDS, US ENVOY CALLS TERMS UNACCEPTABLE"Were delivering ambulances throughout Israel to support communities like this one," Graham said. "Were also building ambulance exchange points, safe places where medical teams can store ambulances and respond to emergencies. Its about restoring confidence so people feel safe enough to move back.""This was a dead zone filled with alarm every day," said Moshe Davidovitz, mayor of the Matte Asher Regional Council and head of the Northern Conflict Zone Forum. "We dont just want to fix the place. We want to grow the place but we need to be able to provide some safety."Thousands of people evacuated," Davidovitz added. "They are refugees in their own country. While they were gone, they didnt know what happened to their home, to their dogs, everything they left behind."That safety is arriving in the form of 42 armored ambulances donated by Samaritans Purse to Israels national emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA). One of them has already been assigned to Arab al-Aramshe.Ali Wahid, a senior medic in the area, said the new ambulance makes a big difference."We are not afraid to respond. But now we will feel safe when we respond," he said. After visiting the north, Graham flew south over the Gaza Strip toward Israels southern border."Hamas came out and attacked the communities down here," he said. "Jewish and Arab communities were hit. Today Im seeing another ambulance exchange point location. There are still a lot of displaced people. We want to bring back confidence and security, so people can come home."In Nir Oz, a kibbutz where one in four residents were either kidnapped or murdered during Hamas brutal October 2024 attack, the damage is still overwhelming. Houses are burned and shattered. Posters show the faces of loved ones, including baby Kfir Bibas and 83-year-old grandfather Oded Lifshitz, both killed by Hamas."This is where they burned houses, pulled children from their parents, murdered babies," Graham said, standing in the ruins."You see the pictures of the people who are no longer here. Explosions have been going off the whole time Ive been in this village. But the leaders here are rebuilding. They want to bring people back this summer. And Samaritans Purse just committed to help with a community clinic and resilience center."Mayor Michal Uziyahu of the Eshkol region walked Graham through the destruction. Her region lost 244 people Oct 7. Half of the hostages still held by Hamas come from her communities."Seventy percent of the massacre happened here," she said. "Every fourth person was either murdered or kidnapped."Still, she insists the region will not be defined by terror."We are determined to make sure that the tragedy wont define us," Uziyahu said. "This place will be filled with life again. The thing terrorists fear most isnt tanks or fighter jets. Its the sound of children laughing in our streets."Graham, moved by what he saw, offered a simple message."Theres been so much pain, murder and brokenness here," he said. "But Ive talked to the survivors and asked if they carry hate. And they dont. They still love their neighbors. They want peace. I dont even understand that myself. But I ask everyone, please keep praying for Israel. They need your prayers and our support."Samaritans Purse is building a resilience center in the Eshkol region and another in the nearby Merhavim area, home to about 4,000 children, many of whom have experienced devastating trauma."We never define ourselves through the tragedy," Uziyahu said. "We define ourselves with life and hope."Along with the trauma centers, Samaritans Purse is building two EMS stations, one near the Gaza border, where residents bled to death during the October attacks because medics couldnt reach them in time. The group is also installing 25 bomb shelters across Israel, 11 in the north and 14 in the south.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPIn the north, Graham met a mother, Sara Kleiman, and her 5-year-old son. They returned home months after fleeing Hezbollah rocket attacks."We try not to think about what could happen," she said. "But we wanted to come home. This is our home."

Trump orders Attorney General to investigate Biden's autopen use amid cognitive decline concerns
President Donald Trump called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead an investigation into whether certain individuals working for former President Joe Biden conspired to deceive the public about his mental state while also exercising his presidential responsibilities by using an autopen. In a memo on Wednesday, Trump said the president of the U.S. has a tremendous amount of power and responsibility through the signature. Not only can the signature turn words into laws of the land, but it also appoints individuals to some of the highest positions in government, creates or eliminates national policies and allows prisoners to go free."In recent months, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Biden's aides abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden's cognitive decline and assert Article II authority," Trump wrote. "This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history. The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power, all while Biden's signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts."He continued, saying Biden had suffered from "serious cognitive decline" for years, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) recently concluded that Biden should not stand trial, despite clear evidence he broke the law, because of his mental state.EXCLUSIVE: COMER HAILS DOJ'S BIDEN PROBE AS HOUSE INVESTIGATION HEATS UP"Biden's cognitive issues and apparent mental decline during his presidency were even worse in private, and those closest to him tried to hide it from the public," Trump said. "To do so, Biden's advisors during his years in office severely restricted his news conferences and media appearances, and they scripted his conversations with lawmakers, government officials, and donors, all to cover up his inability to discharge his duties."Still, during the Biden presidency, the White House issued over 1,200 Presidential documents, appointed 235 judges to the federal bench and issued more pardons and commutations than any administration in U.S. history, Trump said. The president wrote about Bidens decision just two days before Christmas 2024, to commute the sentences of 37 of the 40 most dangerous criminals on federal death row, including mass murderers and child killers.TRUMP SAYS BIDEN DIDN'T FAVOR HIS ADMIN'S LAX BORDER SECURITY POLICY, SUGGESTS AUTOPEN PLAYED A ROLE"Although the authority to take these executive actions, along with many others, is constitutionally committed to the President, there are serious doubts as to the decision-making process and even the degree of Biden's awareness of these actions being taken in his name," Trump wrote. "The vast majority of Biden's executive actions were signed using a mechanical signature pen, often called an autopen, as opposed to Biden's own hand. This was especially true of actions taken during the second half of his Presidency, when his cognitive decline had apparently become even more clear to those working most closely with him."Given clear indications that President Biden lacked the capacity to exercise his Presidential authority, if his advisors secretly used the mechanical signature pen to conceal this incapacity, while taking radical executive actions all in his name, that would constitute an unconstitutional wielding of the power of the Presidency, a circumstance that would have implications for the legality and validity of numerous executive actions undertaken in Biden's name," he added.TRUMP HAS NOT DIRECTED ADMIN TO DECLASSIFY BIDEN DOCS ON HEALTH 'COVER-UP'The memo goes on to call for an investigation that addresses if certain individuals, who are not named in the document, conspired to deceive the American public about the former presidents mental state and "unconstitutionally" exercised the presidents authority and responsibilities.Specifically, Trump called on the attorney generals investigation to look at any activity that purposefully shielded the public from information about Bidens mental and physical health; any agreements between his aides to falsely deem recorded videos of Bidens cognitive ability as fake; and any agreements between Bidens aides to require false, public statements that elevated the presidents capabilities. The investigation will also look at which policy documents the autopen was used for, including clemency grants, executive orders, and presidential memoranda, as well as who directed Bidens signature to be affixed to those documents.Trump said last week that he thinks Biden did not really agree with many of his administrations lax border security policies, instead suggesting that those surrounding the former president took advantage of his declining faculties and utilized the autopen to pass radical directives pertaining to the border.House Republicans, led by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, launched an investigation earlier last month aimed at determining whether Biden, who was in declining health during the final months of his presidency, was mentally fit to authorize the use of the autopen. Comer said last week he was "open" to dragging Biden before the House to answer questions about the matter if necessary.Fox News Digitals Alec Schemmel contributed to this report.

Oilers draw first blood in Stanley Cup Final rematch with 4-3 overtime victory against Panthers
The first game of the Stanley Cup Final rematch belongs to the Edmonton Oilers, as Leon Draisaitls second goal of the game was the overtime winner against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. The 4-3 victory was a come-from-behind win for Edmonton, as they were down 3-1 at one point in this game, but scored three unanswered goals for a statement victory on their home ice. After tying the game in the third period at three apiece, an overtime period was needed to determine the winner of Game 1, and it almost looked like another was necessary as both teams chances couldnt be seen in the net.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMHowever, a costly mistake by Panthers forward Tomas Nosek saw him flip the puck over the glass in his own defensive zone, which is an immediate delay of game penalty. Now, with a man advantage, the Oilers capitalized, and it had to be Connor McDavid making the nifty saucer pass to his trusty teammate Draisaitl, who came flying in front of the net to hammer the puck past Panthers netminder Sergei Bobrovsky.EDMONTON OILERS EYE REVENGE IN STANLEY CUP FINAL AFTER RALLYING PAST DALLAS STARS IN CONFERENCE FINALThe goal, which came with 31 seconds left to play in the period, was also assisted by Corey Perry.Draisaitl started the scoring just as he finished it in Game 1, he found the back of the net with just over a minute into the first period. He was in the right place at the right time, as a shot from Kasperi Kapanen deflected off Bobrovsky and landed right onto Draisaitls stick, who slapped it into the net to take the one-goal advantage. But later in the first period, a controversial goal by Floridas Sam Bennett tied the game at one apiece.Bennett was present in front of the net with two Oilers defenders around him when Carter Verhaeghe took a shot that hit off Bennett and got past goaltender Stuart Skinner. The Panthers, though, believe Bennett had goalie interference.Upon further review, it appears Bennett was tripped by Brett Kulak as the puck was being shot, leading to him falling into Skinner. The goal stood and the game was tied.Just minutes later, Brad Marchand, the Boston Bruins legend who the Panthers traded for at the deadline, took a cross-ice pass during a power play and made the perfect shot past Skinner to take a 2-1 lead. The Panthers had momentum going into the second period, and once again, it was Bennett getting one past Skinner to take a solid 3-1 lead. Bennett was skating in transition when Nate Schmidt placed a perfect pass on his stick, and he did the rest for his second goal of the game.As we learned from last years final, the Oilers will not go down easy, and that appears to be the same theme as they came back with their own timely goals.Viktor Arvidsson took a slap shot once the Oilers entered the offensive zone, and Bobrovsky was too late to react as it whizzed past his left side and stayed true into the net. With a 3-2 deficit going into the third period, Edmonton knew they had to get on the board first to put pressure on Florida. Thats exactly what happened as Mattias Ekholm scored his first Stanley Cup Playoffs goal after Connor McDavid dished a back-handed pass to the front of the zone and it found his stick. Bobrovsky was completely out of position with bodies in front of him as Ekholm shot the puck into the net.Through two periods, it was the Panthers' dominating play on the ice, but the Oilers turned it up a notch in the third period and never looked back. They outshot the Panthers 46-32 on the night, while Skinner made 29 saves in the win as well.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Karen Read defense gets boost as plow driver testifies he saw no body in snow during Boston cop death case
Karen Read's lucky charm may be a plow driver who saw nothing during multiple passes by the address where she is accused of leaving her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe, to die on the ground in a blizzard in January 2022.Brian "Lucky" Loughran testified Wednesday that he didn't see a body on the lawn as he cleared snow on the street in the hours after prosecutors allege the victim stopped moving.According to prosecution experts, O'Keefe's last known activity came to a stop around 12:30 a.m., and his body allegedly did not move until first responders arrived around 6 a.m."I saw nothing," Loughran told defense attorney David Yannetti, speaking of his first pass around 2:45 a.m. He cleared that side of the block, turned around at the end and saw nothing again when he went back the other way.KAREN READ JUDGE BLOCKS SANDRA BIRCHMORE MENTIONS; EXPERT SAYS CASES SHOULD BE WAKE-UP CALL FOR POLICEHe testified that he passed by 34 Fairview Road, the home of Brian Albert where John O'Keefe was found dead in the snow, in both directions multiple times between 2:40 a.m. and around 6 a.m. Prosecutors allege Read hit her boyfriend outside and drove off, leaving him to die in blizzard conditions.Loughran said he had good visibility despite the blizzard conditions due to multiple lights on the plow truck and a high seat. Asked if he saw a body in the snow, he said he did not, but he added that he did see a Ford Edge SUV parked outside the address during a later pass around 3:30 a.m."Loughran's adamance that there was nobody on the lawn after 2:30 a.m., one day after an active-duty officer was adamant that the taillight he saw before the [Massachusetts State Police] had it was not destroyed, are major blows to a prosecution case that already has had severe problems," said Mark Bederow, a New York City defense attorney closely following the case.WITNESS IN KAREN READ TRIAL DESCRIBES STRANGE EXCHANGE BETWEEN MCCABE AND READ BEFORE BOYFRIEND'S DEATHLoughran said the Ford Edge stood out to him because he was from the area and knew the Albert family, and he said he had to maneuver around the vehicle as he cleared the road."For as long as I can remember, they have never parked a vehicle in front of their house," Loughran testified. "They've always had enough ample parking in the driveway."Special prosecutor Hank Brennan asked Loughran during cross-examination about purported threats from an online blogger and inconsistencies in his timeline.Loughran said he never felt threatened by the blogger and denied having a bad memory when Brennan confronted him with multiple statements that offered different times for when the driver passed by Fairview Road.KAREN READ TRIAL REVEALS FLIRTY TEXT MESSAGES WITH ATF AGENT BEHIND BOYFRIEND'S BACK"Mr. Loughran was adamant that he was not intimidated or threatened in exchange for his testimony, which substantially favored Karen Read," said Bederow, who represents Aidan Kearney, the blogger known as "Turtleboy." Loughran now follows the blog but said he had met with a private investigator working for the defense before Kearney ever contacted him, but he added that he barely paid attention to the posts beforehand."I did not know I was being required to testify a certain way," he said. "I was also, at the time, dealing with the loss of my wife. I was not paying any attention to any social media."Overall, he came off as sincere and sympathetic, according to Grace Edwards, a Massachusetts trial attorney who is following the case.KAREN READ'S SUV REACHED '74% THROTTLE' MOMENTS BEFORE JOHN O'KEEFE'S FINAL MOVEMENTS, CRASH EXPERT TESTIFIES"Lucky said, I was doing my job and I did not want the attention, I did not welcome the attention," she told Fox News Digital. "Im sure some people in the courtroom wanted to give him a hug after he said, I wasnt paying attention to social media because my wife had died."Brennan played police dashcam video taken outside 34 Fairview Road that showed heavy snowfall and the distance between the house there and Cedarcrest Road, where a plow truck drove by multiple times in the background, in an attempt to illustrate for the jurors how far the nearest pass would have been from the lawn.Loughran agreed that some of the passes were him in the plow dubbed "Frankentruck," but he said he couldn't be sure at other moments.FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X"Overall, great day for the defense," Edwards said. "I didnt think there was any big moment today, and Brennan didnt even cross Ms. Kolokithas."After Loughran's testimony, the defense called Karina Kolokithas, a friend of both O'Keefe and Read who saw them at the Waterfall Bar and Grille the night before his death."One important piece of evidence from Ms. Kolokithas was that she did not perceive Karen Read to be so intoxicated," Edwards said.SIGN UP TO GET THE TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTERKolokithas, who said she only drank water that night, testified that she spent nearly an hour talking with the defendant and did not feel that she seemed too drunk to drive.Kolokithas also testified that it seemed strange when Jennifer McCabe, a key witness in the case, pulled Read aside at the end of the night."Jen went over to Karen, kind of put her arm around her, and she's like, 'Karen, you're coming with me. You're coming with me,'" Kolokithas testified. "And Karen's like, What? Where are we going?"GET REAL-TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUBThat, combined with surveillance video from the bar, illustrates part of the defense's effort to sow reasonable doubt."The defense is trying to develop possibilities, and they were trying to get the possibility that something was going on with John OKeefe and the other men," Edwards said.Kolokithas discussed another interaction that stood out to her that night: O'Keefe kissing Read on the forehead."I'd never seen something like that before; a boyfriend do [that] to a girlfriend in public," she said. "Never saw that, so it just stood out to me. I was like, 'Wow, that's the sweetest thing I've ever seen.'"That nugget could also boost the defense, Bederow said, after Read's team introduced evidence that ATF Agent Brian Higgins, another man at the bar that night, was exchanging flirtatious text messages with their client behind her boyfriend's back."Kolokithas' description of John being affectionate with Karen right in front of Higgins minutes before Higgins seemingly was agitated towards John and had to be calmed down by Chris Albert, around the time Jen McCabe oddly told Karen she was leaving with her, was also helpful to the defense," he said.Surveillance video appeared to show Higgins and O'Keefe gesturing at one another from across the room shortly before the group left and headed to Brian Albert's house at 34 Fairview Road. There is no audio, and Kolokithas did not testify about an argument between the men. However, Chris Albert, Brian's brother, can be seen pushing Higgins' arms down during the exchange.

LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson adds his reaction to deepening sewage crisis in San Diego
LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson reacted on social media as a local California lawmaker talked about millions of gallons of sewage being dumped from Mexico into the water near San Diego.San Diego County District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond spoke at a recent meeting about beaches around the historic Hotel Del being closed during Memorial Day weekend. He also mentioned Navy SEALs and other towns being affected by the sewage crisis from Mexico.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMDesmond said in the meeting that the only solution is for Mexico to build and maintain a treatment facility."Over Memorial Day weekend, beaches near the Hotel Del were shut downagainbecause Mexico is dumping up to 10 million gallons of sewage into our waters every day," Desmond added on X on Tuesday. "Our Navy SEALs are getting sick. Imperial Beach has been closed for three years straight. Were paying 80% to treat Mexicos sewage while they ignore decades of agreements and do nothing to fix their infrastructure."I introduced a common-sense proposal to apply pressureincluding restricting border activity during health emergenciesuntil Mexico takes responsibility. Unfortunately, my colleagues voted it down, not wanting to pressure Mexico. San Diegans deserve better. Im not backing down."MEXICAN SEWAGE GUSHING INTO NAVY SEAL TRAINING WATERS IS US' 'NEXT CAMP LEJEUNE,' VETS WARNMickelson appeared to have his antenna up on the issue as well."Something about this doesnt smell right," he wrote in response to Desmonds post.Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin said last month the U.S. and Mexico were on the verge of a deal regarding the sewage issue."This week, EPA transmitted to Mexico a proposed 100% solution that would PERMANENTLY END the decades-old crisis of raw sewage flowing in to the U.S. from Mexico. Next, technical groups from both nations will be meeting to work through the details necessary to hopefully reach an urgent agreement," Zeldin wrote on X in May.Zeldin visited San Diego in April, where he announced talks with his government counterparts in Mexico to end the decades-long issue. The problem, blamed on outdated wastewater infrastructure, has persisted for decades but has spiraled in recent years as Tijuana's population skyrocketed. In February, the Department of Defense's inspector general released a report finding that the Naval Special Warfare Center reported 1,168 cases of acute gastrointestinal illnesses among SEAL candidates between January 2019 and May 2023 that were attributed to the contaminated water.Fox News Emma Colton contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
