Magic's Jonathan Isaac details faith-based apparel line's origins and how it handles negative feedback
While many past and present NBA players are under contract with a major athletic footwear and sports apparel conglomerate, Jonathan Isaac wears his own brand when he steps on the basketball court. The Orlando Magic forward founded UNITUS, a faith-forward apparel brand. According to the company's official website, the brand goes beyond producing premium Christian clothing and footwear, it is "a global movement for positive change.""We believe Jesus offers our world a better way, and we boldly stand for our faith in Him. Our mission is to inspire and empower people to live in greater unity, freedom, strength, and purpose."CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"From its inception it's just been a vision of connecting people to Christ and each other for it to be a real touchpoint for believers. To have something we are confident in (and) feel great about."Isaac cautioned that the company always tries to avoid forcing its values and beliefs on others.NBA STAR JONATHAN ISAAC WEIGHS IN ON CAITLIN CLARK-ANGEL REESE RIVALRY"We are not pushing that onto other people, it's more of an internal thing," he told Fox News Digital. "A big part about us is you're wearing the Scripture on your shoes, on your clothes for you, to remind you of the bigger picture. And then to take that out (into) the world. Being able to take the word of God with me on the court when I'm wearing my basketball sneakers, it's the same thing it's for me internally and at the same time, I get to use it as a witness in front of everybody else. It's just a medium to do that."Isaac admitted he ended up being "forced" into launching his own sneaker line."I was signed to Nike back in 2020 and unfortunately, I got injured I tore my ACL," Isaac told Fox News Digital. "Nike had made the decision not to resign me. While I'm going through my rehab process I actually went and spoke to my pastor and he told me Why dont you just make your own sneaker?'"Isaac's pastor then challenged him to be at the forefront for active NBA players in the independent sneaker line space. The 27-year-old said creating his own brand gave him creative autonomy."With that freedom to make my own sneaker I could make it completely unique to myself. (I wanted to make) a shoe that demonstrates faith, demonstrates what's important to me. My middle name is Judah so we (call it) the Judah 1. And every shoe has a visible Bible verse on the outside, and that's how it started. And it went from that to an entire brand set around that same sentiment of being able to take the word of God with you everywhere you go."Isaac has not shied away from speaking out about his beliefs. However, doing so can often result in backlash. Isaac said he does his best to filter out the negativity."The biggest thing for me is spending as little time as I can on social media, especially on X. It gets crazy over there. But, it's tough (because) sports and a couple of other professions, nobody else in their regular life has as much feedback as we do because we're playing live, and now you've got the parlays and now you've got all that other stuff going on."Once you play, you've got 50 (direct messages) of people saying Oh you messed up this or You did great or You didn't do great.' It's tough to deal with just as a regular human being. People forget that, people forget you're human, people forget you've got issues (and) you got through stuff just like everybody else."Isaac appeared in 71 games in the 2024-25 NBA season.Beginning in early June, customers will be able to purchase UNITUS' new activewear line.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Imane Khelif celebrates parents amid latest gender controversy
Olympic gold medalist Imane Khelif celebrated Global Parents Day in an Instagram post amid the boxer's latest gender controversy."Today, I became a champion, but it all started long ago! When my parents believed in me, even when the dream felt too big. When they supported me, listened to me, and stood by me."Being a parent isnt easy. Theres no manual. But the love, patience, and trust you give your child can change everything. On this #GlobalDayOfParents, I just want to say thank you.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"Thank you to every parent who chooses, every single day, to be there for their children. Together with @unicefalgerie, Im celebrating these everyday heroes. Because when parents are supported, children can dream and succeed."Khelifs social media post came as a report from 3 Wire Sports, citing medical documents from chromosome tests given by the International Boxing Association (IBA) before the 2022 and 2023 world championships, reported that Khelifs DNA showed "markers with male karyotypes."The International Olympic Committee (IOC) derecognized the IBA amid concerns about the organization's governance, financial reliance on Russian state energy firm Gazprom and integrity of the bouts."Chromosome analysis reveals Male karyotype. No numerical or chromosomal anomalies detected at 450-550 banding resolution," a screenshot of the document on 3 Wire Sports read. The test was at an accredited lab in New Delhi, called Dr. Lal PathLabs, before the boxing championships, according to 3 Wire Sports.Fox News Digital reached out to World Boxing, the Algerian Olympic Committee and reps for Khelif for comment. The IOC issued a statement to Fox News Digital on Tuesday morning."The IOC has always made it clear that eligibility criteria are the responsibility of the respective International Federation," the IOC said. "The factors that matter to sports performance are unique to each sport, discipline, and/or event. We await the full details how sex testing will be implemented in a safe, fair and legally enforceable way."Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 championships before a gold medal bout over gender eligibility issues.WORLD SERIES CHAMP CALLS OUT AOC OVER RESPONSE TO BOULDER ATTACKThe boxer was thrust into the global spotlight after qualifying for the Olympics, with the gender controversy coming to light. Khelif defeated Angela Carini in the initial fight during the Paris Olympics, and the IOC defended Khelif."Everyone competing in the womens category is complying with the competition eligibility rules," said IOC spokesperson Mark Adams. "They are women in their passports, and its stated that this is the case, that they are female."Then, the IBA doubled down, saying Khelif along with Taiwans Lin Yu-thing were disqualified from the world championships due to "a result of their failure to meet the eligibility criteria for participating in the womens competition, as set and laid out in the IBA Regulations. This decision, made after a meticulous review, was extremely important and necessary to uphold the level of fairness and utmost integrity of the competition."The IBA added that Khelif underwent two tests: one in 2022 and the other in 2023. The IBA said Khelif appealed the decision to the Court for Arbitration of Sport but withdrew during the process, making the "IBA decision legally binding."As the controversy grew, Khelif kept on winning and eventually was awarded a gold medal.Throughout the controversy, Khelif has maintained that their gender is female. Khelif even filed a lawsuit against detractors and critics on social media. Before World Boxing made its decision, Khelif was planning on participating in the 2028 Olympics despite PresidentDonald Trump's "No Men in Womens Sports" executive order was signed.Kheliftold ITVthat the policies do not apply to the boxer."I will give you a straightforward answer: the U.S. president issued a decision related to transgender policies in America. I am not transgender. This does not concern me, and it does not intimidate me. That is my response," Kheliftold the outlet."For me, I see myself as a girl, just like any other girl. I was born a girl, raised as a girl, and have lived my entire life as one."World Boxing said last week that Khelif must take a sex test before being able to compete in sanctioned fights."Imane Khelif may not participate in the female category at the Eindhoven Box Cup, 5-10 June 2025 and any World Boxing event until Imane Khelif undergoes genetic sex screening in accordance with World Boxings rules and testing procedures," a letter sent byWorld Boxingto the Algerian Boxing Federation read. The letter also stated that World Boxing decided to adopt mandatory sex tests this month."These new eligibility rules were developed with the express purpose of safeguarding athletes in combat sports, particularly given the physical risks associated with Olympic-style boxing," the letter read.World Boxing added in a statement that the new policies are "designed solely to ensure the health and safety of all participants in World Boxing competitions (including Imane Khelif) and is not deemed to in any way pre-judge the outcome of any testing that will be introduced as part of the new policy on Sex, Age and Weight."On Monday, World Boxing apologized to the Algerian Boxing Federation for singling Khelif out in the letter."I am writing to you all personally to offer a formal and sincere apology for this and acknowledge that her privacy should have been protected," World Boxing president Boris van der Vorst reportedly said in a letter.Fox News' Jackson Thompson and the Associated Press contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Sanctuary policies in deep-blue Colorado led to terror attack, says local DA
Permissive laws in deep blue Colorado created an environment in which last weekends antisemitic attack could occur, a local district attorney told Fox News Digital. In an interview with Fox News Digital, George Brauchler, a Republican district attorney for Colorados 23rd district, said that the state government, which is dominated by Democrats, has been intentionally creating a lax, sanctuary-type environment regarding immigration enforcement. This, he said, emboldens illegals, such as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the suspect accused of firebombing pro-Israel activists on Sunday, to act with impunity.A DHS spokeswoman has said Soliman, an Egyptian national, was living in the country illegally at the time of the attack. He entered the United States in August 2022 with a visa that expired in February 2023, the spokeswoman said, noting he applied for asylum during that time.HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR AMONG VICTIMS IN BOULDER, COLORADO SUSPECTED TERROR ATTACKSoliman allegedly injured eight adults, including a victim who was 88 years old, at an outdoor mall in Boulder, according to the FBI.The suspect was witnessed shouting "Free Palestine" during the attack and using a makeshift flamethrower to target the crowd, the FBI said. Police said the victims were hospitalized with burn wounds. They had been participating in a Run for Their Lives protest, which, according to the Anti-Defamation League, is a weekly event attended by members of the Jewish community to support hostages held in Gaza by Hamas terrorists.Discussing the brazen attack, Brauchler said: "When you have taken the ongoing steps that our state government has taken over the past many years to identify yourself to everyone, both citizen and noncitizen alike, that you are a sanctuary state - and it doesn't matter if they ever say those words, what matters is the policies in place - and when you had put local law enforcement on its heels, when it comes to trying to coordinate with immigration enforcement authorities, you create an environment where someone feels like visa or no visa, I can stay here and do whatever I want, whether it's to try to find a job off the books or to plan for a terrorist act against Jews up in Boulder."BOULDER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TERROR SUSPECTS POSSIBLE RADICALIZATION PROBED BY AUTHORITIES: RETIRED FBI AGENTIn response to the attack, Brauchler said he expects the Trump administration may assume control of the case and "make an example" of the perpetrator.CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGE"In the past, you would see some deference by the federal government to local prosecutors who showed an interest in prosecuting high-profile cases," he said. "But in this day and age, with illegal immigration being an issue, with the anti-Semitic terrorist acts being an issue, I can foresee President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi saying, We're taking this case, we're going to use every tool at our disposal, we're going to highlight this prosecution, we're going to make an example of this guy, and we're going to send a message."Brauchler said that though "we've seen antisemitic stuff before out here, never in my recollection at this scale or this brazenly having somebody do this."TRUMP ADMINISTRATION PROMISES JUSTICE FOR SLAIN ISRAELI COUPLE IN DC SHOOTING"My worry is if we don't make a big, loud, powerful statement sooner rather than later, these things are going to start to repeat themselves, not just here, but everywhere," he said."This is another horrific blemish on a state that I have known as home my entire life," he went on, adding that "because of the powers that be and the policies that have been put in place over the last 10 or 15 years, I don't recognize Colorado anymore.""It's hard to imagine, and it's just another black eye for our state that we didn't need," he said.

ICE storms cartel-run nightclub, arrests 72 migrants including murder suspect
Federal immigration agents raided a cartel-operated nightclub in South Carolina early Sunday, arresting more than 70 illegal migrants, including a Honduran fugitive wanted for homicide, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The Alamo, an underground nightclub in Summerville, was packed at around 3 a.m. when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) stormed the building, recovering firearms, bulk cash, seven potential trafficking victims and amissing juvenile. Teens as young as 13 were found drinking inside the club, local law enforcement said. The clubs owner, Benjamin Reyna-Flores, is a suspected member of the Los Zetas Cartel now known as Crtel del Noreste (CDN) which was formally designated a terrorist organization by the Trump Administration in February, Homeland Security said. He now faces both state and federal charges.ICE AGENTS IN BOSTON ARREST MIGRANT MURDERER, CHILD RAPISTS AS FOX NEWS RIDES ALONGThe raid was part of a months-long investigation into the establishment, which officials said was a hotbed for narcotics, weapons and human trafficking. The investigation was code-named "Operation Last Stand," and around 200 law enforcement personnel across 14 agencies were on the ground. In total, 80 arrests were made. One of the most high-profile arrests was that of Sergio Joel Galo-Baca,a Honduran illegal alien and foreign fugitive with an active INTERPOL Red Notice for homicide in Honduras. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Charlotte led the operation with local law enforcement,DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin praised the results of the raid."Day in and day out, the brave men and women of ICE are working with local law enforcement to keep American communities safe," McLaughlin said. "Under President Trump and Secretary [Kristi] Noem, fugitives and law-breakers are on notice: Leave now or ICE will find you and deport you."The nightclub is located off Highway 78.MARYLAND DEMOCRAT IVEY FURIOUS NOT GIVEN ACCESS TO KILMAR ABREGO GARCIA IN EL SALVADORSouth Carolina Gov. Henry McMasterechoed McLaughlin comments and said that Tren de Aragua gang members were also arrested."This is what years of open borders got us, but now things have changed," McMaster posted on X. "We will continue to have more investigations like this one to rid South Carolina of these criminals."Charleston County Sheriff Carl Ritchiesaid law enforcement has been gathering information in this case since November, when repeated noise complaints led deputies to investigate further.Deputies and agents entered the nightclub with 116 arrest warrants, both criminal and immigration-related. Ritchie said, per WCSC, that they were able to serve 80 warrants. Deputies said some were citizens and others were non-citizens.Among those arrested were two "high-level" cartel members, a number Ritchie expects to grow.Deputy Administrator Eric Watson, meanwhile, described the scene as a "cartel afterparty."Two witnesses, David Herrera and Destiny Tinoco, said the nightclub filled up with agents and deputies shouting commands, some inside translating the words to Spanish."I saw dancing, I saw people smiling, having a good time and then boom. It all went to chaos," Herrera told WCSC. "A bunch of agents from multiple agencies came in, pointing guns at people, barking orders, telling people to get the "bleep" down, put your hands up. Basically, detained the whole building for, like, an hour and a half, maybe two hours. People were coming up to them, saying, I have kids at home."Ritchie, meanwhile, said some of those arrested face charges for assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of controlled substances and possession of a firearm.

Federal judge rules against Trump order halting sex change procedures in prisons
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to continue to provide accommodations and care for transgender inmates in federal prisons, saying officials had not provided a serious explanation for why medical treatment for gender dysphoria should be handled differently than other cases. The order Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee, blocks officials from carrying out President Donald Trump's executive order, which required Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officials to stop providing medical procedures related to sex changes."Neither the BOP nor the Executive Order provides any serious explanation as to why the treatment modalities covered by the Executive Order or implementing memoranda should be handled differently than any other mental health intervention," Lamberth wrote in a 36-page opinion.TWO TRANS INMATES ORDERED BACK TO WOMEN'S PRISONS IN REAGAN-APPOINTED JUDGE'S INJUNCTIONThe judge granted an injunction requested by three transgender inmates diagnosed with gender dysphoria to block the implementation of Trump's executive order. Lamberth ruled the plaintiffs' merits are likely to succeed under the Administrative Procedure Act."The import of the opinion is essentially this: Under the APA, the BOP may not arbitrarily deprive inmates of medications or other lifestyle accommodations that its own medical staff have deemed to be medically appropriate without considering the implications of that decision," Lamberth wrote.Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House. A BOP spokesperson told Fox News Digital the agency doesn't comment on pending litigation or matters that arethesubject of legal proceedings.JUDGES V TRUMP: HERE ARE THE KEY COURT BATTLES HALTING THE WHITE HOUSE AGENDATrump's order mandated the BOP stop providing "any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for the purpose of conforming an inmates appearance to that of the opposite sex."Prior to Trump's reversal of BOP gender dysphoria policies, the BOP began funding transgender surgical procedures for transgender inmates in December 2022, with Donna Langan, formerly known as Peter Kevin Langan, becoming the first federal prisoner to undergo taxpayer-funded gender surgery.Langan was convicted in 1997 for involvement in a series of armed bank robberies across the Midwest during the 1990s. Langan was a leader of the Aryan Republican Army, a White supremacist group that carried out these robberies to fund their activities, according to court documents.Tuesday's ruling comes as judges continue to block parts of Trump's agenda.

More seniors are using cannabis than ever before despite health risks, research shows
New data has revealed that cannabis use among older adults is at an all-time high.Researchers at UC San Diego and NYU discovered that marijuana use by Americans aged 65 and older increased by nearly 46% from 2021 to 2023, according to an NYU press release. As more states legalize marijuana for recreational use, as well as for medicinal therapies, accessibility to the drug is more widespread, particularly among aging adults.DEMENTIA RISK CONNECTED TO CANNABIS-RELATED HOSPITAL VISITS, SAYS STUDYThe research, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, found that 7% of 15,000 adults in this age range reported using cannabis in the last month, according to 2023 data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. This was an increase from 4.8% in 2021 and 5.2% in 2022.While marijuana use surged in both men and women, it was more prevalent among women. The research found that increased use was associated with health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Those with a college or post-grad degree, an annual income of $75,000 or more, married status and residence in a state with legalized medical cannabis were also more likely to partake."Adults with the highest incomes initially had the lowest prevalence of cannabis use versus other income levels, but by 2023, they had the highest prevalence, which may indicate better access to medical cannabis given its costs," the researchers noted in the study discussion.OLDER AMERICANS TURN TO MARIJUANA FOR BETTER SLEEP AND PAIN RELIEF: HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW"The substantial increased prevalence in states with legalized medical cannabis highlights the importance of structural educational support for patients and clinicians in those states."The researchers also warned that the use of cannabis products, especially with psychoactive properties, could cause complications in chronic disease management in older adults. The study did not look at the frequency of cannabis use, cannabinoid type or recreational versus medical use.In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, senior author Joseph Palamar, PhD, associate professor of population health at NYU Langone, noted his concern about cannabis use increasing among older populations.DAILY MARIJUANA SMOKERS FACE HIGHER RISK OF HEART ATTACK, STROKE, SAYS AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION STUDYPalamar suggested the increased use is likely due to a combination of greater availability, decreased stigma and previous marijuana users aging into the 65+ cohort."My worry is that some of these people may have adverse psychiatric reactions, especially if they use edibles,"he said. "It's very easy to accidentally eat too much, and then there's no turning back once it's already ingested."In a previous interview with Fox News Digital, Dr. Barbara Krantz, medical director at Caron Treatment Centers in Florida, confirmed that shes seen a "significant uptick" in cannabis use by individuals over 50.While polls have shown that most older Americans use cannabis to improve sleep, reduce pain, alleviate mental health issues and to relax, Krantz shared some potential dangers of the habit. Those include increased risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, stroke, increased hypertension and tachycardia, as well as worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Cannabis may also lead to interactions with other medications, which can increase their toxicity or decrease their effectiveness, Krantz cautioned.Other potential risks include balance issues, delayed reaction times, increased confusion or cognitive impairment, and heightened anxiety, depression or anger.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERThere could also be surgery-related risks, including complications due to anesthesia and delays in healing, the expert noted."Seniors should talk to their healthcare provider and their pharmacist before using any marijuana or cannabis product, because there are very real and specific dangers for older adults when using these substances," Krantz advised.Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel commented on these findings during an appearance on "Americas Newsroom" on Tuesday, noting that regular use of cannabis can be dangerous if not tracked."You might use a gummy to go to bed, and then the next thing, you're using two gummies, or three gummies, and it could increase anxiety, it can increase discombobulation, you're not thinking clearly, ER visits are on the increase," he cautioned."We know about problems with the lungs," Siegel added. "It can accelerate dementia and can affect behavior."The doctor likened the use of marijuana to the effects of smoking cigarettes in terms of damage to the heart and lungs."It is absolutely an active chemical we need to watch out for, and I'm very disturbed that the elderly are using it," he said."We've completely jumped the gun [on legalization] because people are going to the ER with psychosis. They're going there with vomiting disorders. They're having car accidents as a result," he went on.For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/health"We are studying Colorado ever since it was legalized there, and the results are not pretty. We definitely jumped the gun by not anticipating all the medical risks here."Fox News Digital reached out to UC San Diego Medicine researchers for comment.Fox News Digitals Melissa Rudy contributed to this report.
