As she runs for re-election in 2026, Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York will now face a primary challenge from her own lieutenant governor.New York Lt. Gov. Zeldin's showing was the best by a Republican gubernatorial nominee in blue-state New York since then-GOP Gov. George Pataki won re-election to a third term in 2002.In July of last year, Hochul announced her intention to run for re-election in 2026.While the governor's approval ratings in a recent Siena College poll were holding slightly in positive territory, the survey indicated a majority of New Yorkers would still prefer someone else to win the 2026 election for governor in the Empire State.REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS CHAIR, POINTING TO CAMPAIGN BATTLES AHEAD, TOUTS OUR POLICIES ARE BETTERAccording to the poll, which was conducted May 12-15, 36% of registered voters in New York state said they would vote to re-elect Hochul to a second four-year term, with a majority (55%) saying they wanted someone else.It is a 10-point negative movement for Hochul compared to Siena's April survey, when 39% of those questioned said they were prepared to vote to re-elect the governor and 48% wanted someone else.Fifty-one percent of Democrats surveyed in the new poll said at this early point in the 2026 election cycle they are prepared to re-elect Hochul, with 38% of Democrats saying they want "someone else."But the poll indicated Hochul holding a wide lead over Delgado and Rep. Richie Torres, who is also mulling a Democratic gubernatorial campaign. Hochul stood at 46% in the poll in the Democratic nomination race, with Delgado at 12% and Torres at 10%.The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) praised Hochul in a statement following Delgado's announcement."Governor Kathy Hochul is a proven leader with a strong record of delivering for New Yorkers: putting money back in their pockets, protecting reproductive rights, and keeping communities safe. The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) announced on Monday that it is recognizing June as "Title IX Month."The announcement came in honor of the 53rd anniversary of Title IX of the Educational Amendments (1972) being signed into law. Max Homa is among several big names who do not meet the exemptions for the 2025 U.S. Open in Oakmont, leaving his Oakmost fate up to a qualifier in Ohio on Monday.Dubbed "Golf's Longest Day," Homa was one of numerous golfers, including Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young, Bud Cauley, Jake Knapp, Padraig Harrington, and Adam Hadwin attempting to qualify for Oakmont at 10 different locations across the country.Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club was home to six of the qualifying spots, and the golfers were in for two rounds on Monday. Paperwork with the word "USAID" was found in the car of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who's accused of allegedly throwing explosives at a group in Boulder, Colorado, peacefully protesting for the release of Hamas' hostages.The incident happened on Sunday as the pro-Israel group "Run for Their Lives" was protesting on Pearl Street. Boulder police said eight people were injured in the alleged terror attack, adding that they initially received reports of a man setting people on fire.According to an arrest affidavit, law enforcement officials found paperwork with the words "USAID" inside Soliman's 2015 silver Toyota Prius. Other paperwork with the words "Israel" and "Palestine" was also allegedly found inside the Toyota Prius, in addition to a red gas container and rags.A senior State Department official told Fox News Digital that Soliman isn't a United States Agency for International Development employee.Soliman allegedly told federal and local law enforcement officials during an interview that he specifically targeted a "Zionist group" that gathered in Boulder on June 1 because he wanted to stop them from taking over "our land," which he said is "Palestine." Soliman allegedly said he was planning the attack for a year, adding he waited until his daughter graduated.BOULDER TERROR ATTACK SUSPECT SAID HE WANTED TO KILL 'ALL ZIONIST PEOPLE,' USED MOLOTOV COCKTAILS: FEDS"He specifically targeted the Zionist Group that had gathered in Boulder having learned about the group from an online search," the affidavit stated.According to the document, he left messages to his family, a journal and an iPhone at his house in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A zebra remains on the loose after the animal escaped from its owners in Tennessee over the weekend, authorities said.The owners "obtained" the zebra on Friday night and reported it missing on Saturday, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said.However, the distinct black-and-white-striped animal escaped into a wooded area off Interstate 24, where it was "wreaking havoc," between Joe B.
