Footage shows LGBTQ protester attacking conservative at California track championship amid trans athlete drama
California's track and field state championship in Clovis, California, turned into a crime scene Friday as tensions rose between opposing protesters. One LGBTQ protester was arrested after allegedly attacking a conservative protester outside Veteran Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High School, the Clovis Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital. The man allegedly attacked is California right-wing activist and content creator Josh Fulfer, who goes by the nickname "Oreo Express" on social media. Footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows the LGBTQ protester, who police have identified as 19-year-old Ethan Kroll, striking Fulfer with a flag pole that had a large transgender pride flag attached.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMAdditional footage showed the LGBTQ protester being arrested by Clovis police after the incident.Police records obtained by Fox News Digital show that Kroll, a male, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, obstructing a public officer and vandalism.Fulfer told Fox News Digital the incident happened after he left the meet, was driving with his wife and came up to a red light. He says Kroll was there wearing black face coverings."They were yelling something, and they recognized me right away. And they said something. I don't even know, I can't understand what they were saying, but I said something in the nature of, 'If you're so proud and you're not ashamed of your cause, why don't you show your face? Why are you so embarrassed to show your face?'" Fulfer said.CALIFORNIA TOWN RALLIES BEHIND TRUMP AS IT HOSTS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP AMID TRANS ATHLETE CONTROVERSY"And then they yelled something. And when they yelled something, they started going right across the street onto the center divide. And then they said, You're Josh Fulfer, and started hitting me with the pole. They put the pole in the car and started jabbing me with the pole."Fulfer said he sustained bruising and scrapes on his arm from the strikes. Fulfer then pepper-sprayed Kroll's eyes, he and police said.Fulfer alleges that after pepper-spraying Kroll, the LGTBQ protester pulled the pole out of the car and started smashing the roof and door of his car. Fulfer says he then drove away and alleges Kroll smashed the back of his car as he drove off.Photos provided by Fulfer show slight denting to the vehicle.Fulfer says nearby police officers watched and rushed in to intervene.Clovis Police Sgt. Chris Hutchison told Fox News Digital no other criminal incidents occurred at or near the track meet Friday night."Our stance is always to allow people to exercise their constitutional right to free speech and protest," Hutchison said. "They have a right to do it in a manner that isn't inciting violence or causing other problems. We don't have room for violence or property damage or anything like that."Hutchison and Fulfer told Fox News Digital police set up designated "free speech zones" for activists in attendance this weekend. The competition has seen a sizable presence of protesters due to the participation of transgender athlete AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High School competing in the girls long jump, high jump and triple jump. The athlete finished in first place in all three events during the preliminary round Friday night. Saturday, Hernandez will compete in the final round and look to take all three state titles.Witnesses told Fox News Digital there were more than 50 protesters at the competition Friday, with many planning to return to Saturday for the finals.Women's athlete activists held a protest early Saturday morning, organized by California Family Council Outreach Director Sophia Lorey.During Friday's event, a plane flew over the stadium with a banner that said, "No Boys in GIrls' Sports!"Hernandez dominated the girls' postseason this spring, attracting national attention in recent weeks as President Donald Trump called out the state for allowing it to happen and threatening federal funding cuts if it continues. Then the Department of Justice announced Wednesday it would launch an investigation into the California Interscholastic Federation and California Attorney General Rob Bonta over the state's law that allows biologically male trans athletes to compete with girls and women. The CIF announced a pair of rule changes Tuesday and Wednesday in response to the backlash, expanding the size of the competitor pool and even handing out medals to any "biological female" athlete displaced by a transgender athlete at the meet.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Researchers develop face 'e-tattoo' to track mental workload in high-stress jobs
Scientists say that they have formulated a way to help people in stressful and demanding work environments track their brainwaves and brain usage an electronic tattoo device, or "e-tattoo," on the person's face.In a study posted in the science journal Device, the team of researchers wrote that they found e-tattoos to be a more cost-effective and simpler way to track ones mental workload.Dr. Nanshu Lu, the senior author of the research from the University of Texas at Austin, wrote that mental workload is a critical factor in human-in-the-loop systems, directly influencing cognitive performance and decision-making.Lu told Fox News Digital in an email that this device was motivated by high-demand, high-stake jobs such as pilots, air traffic controllers, doctors andemergency dispatchers.TEEN GOES FROM 10 NIGHTLY SEIZURES TO ZERO WITH BRAIN IMPLANTLu also said ER doctors and robot/drone operators can also leverage this technology for training and performance enhancements. One of the goals of this study was to find a way to measure cognitive fatigue in high leverage and mentally straining careers. The e-tattoo is temporarily attached to the subject's forehead, and is smaller than current devices in use today.According to the study, the device works by using electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrooculogram (EOG) to measure both brain waves and eye movements.8 SLEEP TRACKERS TO HELP YOU GET A BETTER NIGHT'S RESTWhile most EEG and EOG machines are bulky and expensive, the e-tattoo offers a compact and cost-effective solution.Lu wrote that in this study, "we propose a wireless forehead EEG and EOG sensor designed to be as thin and conformable to the skin as a temporary tattoo sticker, which is referred to as a forehead e-tattoo."Lu also added that "human mental workload is a crucial factor in the fields of human-machine interaction and ergonomics due to its direct impact on human cognitive performance."The way the study was conducted was with six participants being shown a screen on which 20 letters flashed up, one at a time, at various locations.Participants were asked to click a mouse if either the letter itself, or its location, matched one shown a given number of letters. Each participant carried out the task multiple times, corresponding to four levels of difficulty. The team found that as the tasks became harder, the different types of brainwaves detected showed shifts in activity that corresponded to a higher mental workload response. The device consists of a battery pack and reusable chips with a disposable sensor.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPLu said that the device is currently a lab prototype."Before it can be ready for commercialization, it will need more development, such as real-time, on-tattoo mental workload decoding and validation on more people and in more realistic environments," she said. "The prototype currently costs $200."

Floods kill at least 111 as northern Nigeria battles climate change, dry spells and heavy rainfall
Torrents of predawn rain unleashed flooding that killed at least 111 people in a market town where northern Nigerian farmers sell their wares to traders from the south, officials said Friday, predicting the death toll would grow. The Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency did not immediately say how much rain fell after midnight Thursday in the town of Mokwa in the state of Niger, more than 180 miles west of Abuja, the capital of Africa's most populous nation.SOUTHEAST MET WITH DANGEROUS FLOODING WHILE NORTHEAST BRACES FOR SNOWSTORMSCommunities in northern Nigeria have been experiencing prolonged dry spells worsened by climate change and excessive rainfall that leads to severe flooding during the brief wet season. In videos and photos on social media, floodwaters covered neighborhoods and homes were submerged, with their roofs barely visible above the brown-colored waters. Waist-deep in water, residents tried to salvage what they could, or rescue others."We lost many lives, and the properties, our farm produce. Those that have their storage have lost it," Kazeem Muhammed, a Mokwa resident, said.Besides the 111 confirmed dead, "more bodies have just been brought and are yet to be counted," Niger state emergency agency spokesman IIbrahim Audu Husseini told The Associated Press by telephone Friday afternoon.Mokwa, nearly 380 kilometers (236 miles) west of Abuja, is a major meeting point where traders from the south buy beans, onions and other food from farmers in the north.Mokwa community leader Aliki Musa told the AP the villagers are not used to such flooding. "The water is like spiritual water which used to come but its seasonal," said Musa. "It can come now (and) it will reach another twenty years before coming again."The chairman of the Mokwa local government area, Jibril Muregi, told local news website Premium Times that construction of flood-control works was long overdue."This critical infrastructure is essential to mitigating future flood risks and protecting lives and property," he said.In September, torrential rains and a dam collapse in the northeastern city of Maiduguri caused severe flooding that left at least 30 people dead and displaced millions, worsening the humanitarian crisis caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.

San Diego official faces backlash after labeling ICE agents 'terrorists'
A California city councilmember was blasted on social media over the weekend after sharing a photo of ICE agents on Instagram with the word "Terrorists" written in red on top of the agents. In the photo, which San Diego City Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera posted to Instagram with the Rage Against The Machine song "Bulls On Parade," immigration agents appear to be in a parking lot wearing helmets and vests and carrying guns."Look at this photo. This isnt a war zoneits a neighborhood in our city," Elo-Rivera wrote in the post. "In San Diego, theyve targeted parents dropping off their kids at school, people following the law inside courthouses, and workers just doing their jobs at local restaurants."These are federal agents carrying out raids on under the false pretense of safety,'" he added. "This isnt safety. Its state-sponsored terrorism. And anyone who cares about freedomand true safetyshould be fighting back."DHS SAYS MASSACHUSETTS CITY COUNCIL MEMBER 'INCITED CHAOS' AS ICE ARRESTED 'VIOLENT CRIMINAL ALIEN'Prior to the post Friday night, Elo-Rivera, who represents the 9th City Council District, shared a series of Instagram stories criticizing ICE action in the city."They've targeted parents outside schools in my district," he wrote in one story. "They've targeted people following the law at courthouses. Tonight, they targeted hard working folks in South Park and tomorrow it could be anyone in any neighborhood in San Diego. The only way we put a stop to it is by not looking away and demanding that it end."In subsequent Instagram stories, he called ICE agents "jackbooted thugs," "cowards" and "criminals" and said the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) action was "state-sponsored terrorism."CALIFORNIA HOME OF SUSPECT ACCUSED OF DOXXING ICE AGENTS RAIDED AND SEARCHEDAfter the public rant was shared by LA-based Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin Saturday afternoon, Elo-Rivera jumped back on social media again to double down on his phrasing."A Fox News correspondent has called attention to my choice of words I said what I meant and meant what I said," Elo-Rivera wrote. He then posted a screenshot from Cornell Law School's website, which notes there is no universal definition for terrorism, and checked off a bullet-pointed list of "common elements that characterize it" before calling Instagram users "fascists."SANCTUARY CITY LAWYERS PLOT TO HELP ILLEGAL MIGRANTS EVADE ICE IN EXPOSED GROUP EMAILStephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff for policy and a homeland security advisor, took to X to respond to Elo-Rivera's posts, writing, "We are living in the age of leftwing domestic terrorism. They are openly encouraging violence against law enforcement to aid and abet the invasion of America."Elo-Rivera responded by calling Miller "one of the most dishonest and worst people in America," noting "nothing makes me more confident in my position than knowing he hates it."The Instagram posts came just hours after Patricia Hyde, the head of ICE Boston, told Fox News sanctuary jurisdictions are beginning to escalate against ICE.Reported incidents include a group of activists trying to free a suspected illegal immigrant who was handcuffed by ICE and a crowd blowing ICE's cover outside an alleged illegal immigrant murderer's home."I think the lack of cooperation is getting worse and worse, and its putting law enforcement lives in danger," Hyde said.Cornell University, Cornell Law School, ICE and San Diego City Council President Joe LaCava did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.Fox News Digital's Michael Dorgan contributed to this report.
