Hamas captivity survivors appeal to Netanyahu, Trump after Edan Alexander's release
Former Hamas hostages are calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff to move quickly to free the remaining hostages, even if it means halting military operations. After American Israeli Edan Alexanders release earlier this week, 65 survivors of Hamas captivity urged Netanyahu, Trump and Witkoff to seize the moment and "not let this historic momentum stop.""We believe the Israeli government now faces a genuine opportunity to return to the negotiating table. We urge all those involved in this process: Please do not walk away until a comprehensive deal is signed," the letter states.EDAN ALEXANDER'S RELEASE OFFERS WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR WIDER HOSTAGE DEAL AMID TRUMP MIDDLE EAST VISITOn Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas took 251 hostages, 12 of whom were American citizens. Keith Siegel, Edan Alexander and Sagui Dekel-Chen have all been released alive. Hersh Goldberg-Polins body was taken out of Gaza in August 2023. Hamas is still holding the remains of multiple Americans who have been confirmed dead: Omer Neutra, Itay Chen, Judith Weinstein Haggai and Gadi Haggai.HOSTAGES FREED FROM GAZA TELL TRUMP HE WAS 'SENT BY GOD' TO SAVE THEM, BUT DOZENS MORE REMAINSiegel is among the former hostages who signed the letter. He has previously thanked Trump for securing his release, even crediting the president for his being alive. Now, he is joining other former Hamas captives demanding freedom for those who remain in Gaza, "regardless of which citizenship they hold."While in the Middle East in the days after Alexanders release, Trump has worked on making deals for the U.S., many of which could also benefit Israel, though the latest slate of deals seems to be unrelated to the remaining hostages. The president asked Syria to join the Abraham Accords and normalize ties with Israel in exchange for sanctions relief. Additionally, Trump said Damascus would need to deport "Palestinian terrorists," help the U.S. prevent the resurgence of ISIS and assume charge of ISIS detention centers in northeast Syria.Netanyahus office declined to comment on the letter. The White House did not respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment in time for publication.Fox News Digital's Bradford Betz contributed to this report.

Providence, Rhode Island, officials have accepted a request to fly the Palestinian flag Friday at City Hall in the state's capital.City officials emphasized that no American flags are being displaced by the display, adding there have been several other flags raised over the government office in the past."Providence City Hall displays many different flags throughout the year to mark different occasions and honor the many ethnic and cultural backgrounds and traditions that make our city strong," a spokesperson for Providence City Council told Fox News Digital Wednesday. The spokesperson added the city has also flown the Dominican flag, Irish flag, Armenian flag and the Israeli flag in recent months.JOHN FETTERMAN RECEIVES TOP US JEWISH COLLEGE'S HIGHEST AWARD"Like those examples, this idea came to us from the community as part of a request to honor the important role Palestinian-Americans play in the fabric of our beautifully diverse city," the spokesperson said.Council President Rachel Miller will display the flag during Thursdays city council meeting and then outside City Hall Friday. When asked about the decision, a representative for Democratic Mayor Brett Smiley suggested the ceremony was the city councils prerogative.FETTERMAN SPOKESWOMAN REAMED FOR REPORTEDLY CONTRADICTING BOSS ON ISRAEL: 'UNPARALLELED HUBRIS'"In Providence, the executive branch and City Council are two separate branches of government. Ex-Bond girl Halle Berry doesn't think making 007 a woman is 'the right thing to do'
Former "Die Another Day" Bond girl Halle Berry weighed in on whether the iconic James Bond character should ever be played by a woman. While serving on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, the 58-year-old actress addressed the ongoing discussion about replacing the fictional spy with a woman in a future franchise."I don't know if 007 really should be a woman," Berry responded. "In 2025, it's nice to say, 'Oh, she should be a woman.' But, I don't really know if I think that's the right thing to do."Berry previously played the character Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson in the 2002 film "Die Another Day" alongside Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.FORMER 'BOND' GIRL EVA GREEN THINKS THE NEW 007 'SHOULD REMAIN A MAN' AMID CALLS FOR A FEMALE RECASTINGThe idea of a female James Bond has been a hot-button issue in Hollywood for nearly a decade. In 2017, Berry similarly dismissed Bond being played by a woman in favor of more original characters."I want [women] to be tough, but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," Berry said. "I mean, that series is steeped in history, you know, Ian Fleming's stories. I don't think you can change Bond to a woman.""We can create a new Bond character that's a woman, and give her a new name, based on that theory, but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," she added.Berry wasnt the only former Bond girl who questioned the idea of gender-swapping James Bond over the years. In 2019, "The Spy Who Loved Me" actress Valerie Leon blasted the idea, arguing that the character was always successful as a man."He's a fantasy. So many men have wanted to be Bond and women have wanted to be with Bond. How can people fantasize about a woman as Bond? Men aren't going to go for a woman as a killer or an assassin," Leon said.In 2024, British actress Gemma Arterton, who starred in 2008s "Quantum of Solace," said Hollywood should respect the tradition of the character and called out the absurdity of the idea.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE"Isnt a female James Bond like Mary Poppins being played by a man?" she remarked. "They talk about it, but I think people would find it too outrageous."The most recent iteration of James Bond was played by British actor Daniel Craig in the 2021 film "No Time to Die." Though Amazon MGM Studios recently made a deal to control the creative rights to the 007 character, there have been no announcements regarding the future of the franchise.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Wings' Paige Bueckers reacts to Mavericks landing top pick in NBA Draft: 'God makes no mistakes'
Chicago hosted the NBA's annual draft lottery Monday night. Despite entering the lottery with 1.8% odds, the Dallas Mavericks landed the top selection for the upcoming draft. The Dallas Wings won the WNBA Draft lottery and landed the top selection in last month's draft.Paige Bueckers was the first player off the board. The former UConn basketball star said she was shocked by the Mavs' good fortune in the lottery.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"That's another thing that I didn't think was real at first," Bueckers said, according to The Dallas Morning News.Bueckers said there was reason Dallas' NBA franchise landed the No. 1 pick."But I believe God makes no mistakes, so that happened for a reason," she suggested.Duke standout Cooper Flagg is widely projected as the top prospect in this year's NBA Draft.A HISTORY OF NBA DRAFT LOTTERY LEAPS: WHERE DO THE MAVERICKS RANK ALL-TIME?The Charlotte Hornets once again finished well below the .500 mark, ending the 2024-25 season with less than 20 wins. The Washington Wizards, who held the second overall selection in last year's draft, also failed to win more than 20 games this season.Despite the lackluster records and relatively strong odds of landing the top pick, the Hornets and Wizards will pick below the top three. The NBA lottery odds have noticeably flattened in the past few years, which makes it more unlikely teams who hit the reset button will end up being rewarded with the rights to a top three selection.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Pete Rose's daughter discusses meeting with Rob Manfred, reaction to finding out dad's ban had been lifted
Pete Rose and his family repeatedly tried to get MLB's all-time hit king back into baseball without success. On Tuesday, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced anyone on baseball's ineligible list would be removed from the list at the time of their deaths. It meant Rose's ban from baseball had been lifted, making him eligible for Hall of Fame consideration.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe announcement came just over 24 hours before Rose's Cincinnati Reds hosted Pete Rose Night, a celebration previously scheduled for the legend who died in September.Members of Rose's family and other Reds greats were at the pregame ceremony, and Rose's daughter, Fawn, shared her reaction to the news."Coming off yesterday's news, we were boarding a plane in Seattle, and I got a phone call at about 10:15. And I got a phone call from our attorney. I so wanted to be the one standing here at this podium and announcing that the ban had been lifted, but I'm so happy we can again celebrate that tonight. One step at a time. One step at a time," she said.Fawn Rose then praised the commissioner for his discussions about her father when the family met with Manfred shortly after Pete Rose died."The emotion was overwhelming. I called [Pete Jr.]. My kids thought someone died because I got emotional at the airport, but it was a big deal. And during my meeting with the commissioner, the commissioner was so grateful," she said.PETE ROSE'S LAST INTERVIEWER REACTS TO HIS HALL OF FAME ELIGIBILITY, PRAISES TRUMP FOR KICKSTARTING MOVEMENT"He was gracious, kind, really gave me a forum to talk about my dad not the baseball player, but the father, the grandfather and, really, what he means to the fans of Cincinnati. And I was able to take from that visitation here in Cincinnati and express to the commissioner the overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude from my dad and what he gave to this city. This city was my dad, and my brother said Cincinnati baseball, it's in our DNA. We're West Siders."Other players now eligible include "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and the rest of the 1919 Black Sox. Overall, 17 players are now baseball eligible.Rose admitted to gambling in 2004 after years of claiming his innocence. He died in September and predicted 10 days before his death he would not make the Hall of Fame until after he died, if at all.MLB determined Rose gambled on the Reds, only to win, while he was both a manager and a player. In 1991, two years after Rose was banned by A. Bartlett Giamatti, the National Baseball Hall of Fame voted to make those ineligible from baseball ineligible for potential induction into Cooperstown. It is not yet official when Rose will be up for a vote, but it will likely be up to the Classic Baseball Era Committee, which considers players whose careers ended more than 15 years ago. That committee does not meet until December 2027, and he would need 12 of the 16 votes to get in.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
