WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDemocratic strategists question influence of Obama-era campaign operatives in party's futureSome Democratic strategists are questioning the role campaign operatives who are associated with former President Barack Obama's presidential campaigns will play going forward as the Democratic Party scrambles to move forward after former Vice President Kamala Harris' loss."Im sorry I dont want a surgeon who keeps killing patients," Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis told NBC News about the set of Obama-era campaign operatives who contributed to several modern Democratic campaigns. "Its pretty easy to win with a guy like Obama."Several of those who led Obama's campaigns also worked for Harris in 2024, as well as former President Joe Biden, until he dropped out and lost to President Donald Trump. Obama campaign alums Jen O'Malley Dillion and Stephanie Cutter worked on Harris' campaign. Other former Obama campaign aides, Mitch Stewart and Rufus Gifford, worked on Biden's campaign as well, NBC News reported.DNC Finance Chair Chris Korge called out David Plouffe, Obama's 2008 campaign manager and an advisor to Harris' campaign, in an interview with NBC News earlier this month. Plouffe placed blame for Harris' loss on Biden, telling authors Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson that the former president "totally f----- us."EX-OBAMA CAMPAIGN MANAGER JOINS HARRIS TEAM, VP KEEPS REST OF BIDEN'S SQUAD IN TACT"To blame Biden now is to shift the accountability from the people who lost the race: the consultants, the so-called gurus," Korge said during the interview. "Its time to re-evaluate the use of consultants and bring in new forward-looking people.""The old Obama playbook no longer works,"Korge added. Another Democratic strategist, Mike Nellis, told NBC News that the Democratic Party had nostalgia for the Obama era, but noted that the politics have changed."One of the challenges the Democratic Party does have is that there is nostalgia for the Obama era, both in terms of Barack Obama being in the White House and what that meant for the country and the style of leadership that we have, but also like the style of our politics," Nellis said. "Theres been a de-evolution of our politics over the last 10 years, and its just a very different era."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURENebraska Democratic Party chair Jane Kleeb detailed an anecdote about how she responded to Republican attacks with regard to transgender issues in a mayoral election in Omaha. The Democratic candidate, John Ewing, ended up beating the Republican candidate, Jean Stothert."I didnt contact the Pod Save America guys or a New York press firm to say, how do I handle this?" Kleeb said. "Our team literally got into the conference room at our state party office and said, Lets throw out ideas on how we can push back on this, because were not going to let them take down John Ewing on this bulls--- again."Kleeb added that she wanted all the operatives at the table, and spoke out against "intraparty fighting." Another ex-Obama campaign aide, Steve Schale, defended Plouffe and called him "one of the sharpest guys around."Chuck Rocha, a former Bernie Sanders campaign advisor, pointed out that the campaign consultants are usually locked-in with candidates before they even announce their campaigns.JON STEWART, 'POD SAVE AMERICA' QUESTION BIDEN'S HEALTH IN WAKE OF 'ORIGINAL SIN' BOOK"Most of these same consultants have locked in these candidates before they ever announce, and so theres never any opportunity for any new blood to be a part of these campaigns," Rocha said. "Theyre all connected."David Hogg, a DNC vice chair, told NBC that the party's political operatives hold on to power for too long, comparing them to several Democratic lawmakers in power. He also said young voters don't really have a memory of Obama's presidency."I dont think they have one to be honest with you. Thats part of the challenge," Hogg said. "For many of these younger people who are under the age of 20, right now they dont remember much of what Obama talked about. They grew up in the political context of Donald Trump and him being normalized, because that was what politics was to them growing up."After Harris lost, Plouffe, Dillion, Cutter and Quentin Fulks, all part of her campaign operation, joined the co-hosts of Pod Save America, a podcast hosted by all ex-Obama aides, to discuss what went wrong in the election.Liberal critics accused them of gaslighting and taking no accountability for the loss.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 44 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMemorial Day weekend shooting leaves 11 injured at North Myrtle Beach marina as police hunt suspectsSouth Carolina authorities continue to search for the suspect or suspects who carried out a mass shooting that left 11 people injured on Sunday evening in North Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police Department described the shooting as an isolated incident stemming from an altercation on a charter boat during a private Memorial Day gathering.A total of 10 victims sustained gunshot wounds and another person reported an unknown injury not related to gunfire, the police department said in a Monday press release. Some victims were recovered from the water, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department (NMBPD) said."Of those, the worst of the injured are in critical but stable condition at area hospitals," Horry County police said in a press release.MASS SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA AS VICTIMS FLOOD LOCAL HOSPITALSVideos and photos posted to social media on Sunday evening showed a heavy police presence in the area of Harbourgate Marina, a popular spot for local boat owners and tourists going on charter boat trips.NMBPD also said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating a separate incident involving a responding North Myrtle Beach officer who was injured with his own firearm.SOUTHERN VACATION HOT SPOT FIRES BACK AT POOR SAFETY RATING FOLLOWING SHOOTING: 'FAKE NEWS'"A NMBPD Officer was entering a gate to the dock when his rifle discharged twice, with one of the rounds striking his leg," the department said in its press release. "At the time of the discharge, the Officer had both of his hands on the gate, which was confirmed by later video evidence. Due to the Officer not attempting to utilize his weapon at the time, all Officers on scene believed that shots were being fired from the marina area."The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.MASS SHOOTING IN MYRTLE BEACH TOURIST HOTSPOT LEAVES 1 DEAD, 11 WOUNDEDVideo footage obtained from a witness apparently shows the incident, and authorities determined that "the discharge was from the wounded Officers rifle," and the scene was released to SLED.Horry County police said the shooting remains under investigation, and "there is currently no associated risk to the community."Crime concerns in and around Myrtle Beach have been heightened since April 26, when a shooting in the Myrtle Beach entertainment district left the shooter dead and 11 victims injured. Myrtle Beach officials described the shooting as an isolated incident at the time.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 44 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMPee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens hid terminal cancer from documentary director until his deathPaul Reubens did not tell his director, Matt Wolf, that he was dying from cancer. The actor and comedian, who famously starred as Pee-wee Herman in the 1980s, passed away in 2023 at age 70. Before his death, he gave over 40 hours of interviews on camera about his life and career for a two-part documentary, "Pee-wee as Himself," now streaming on HBO Max."I was scheduled to do a final interview with him the week after Paul Reubens passed away, and we had a conversation a week before he died," Wolf told Forbes on Monday.'PEE-WEE HERMAN' ACTOR PAUL REUBENS DEAD AT 70"I could tell something was up with his health, but I didnt understand the gravity of it," the filmmaker shared. "I had no reason to believe he was terminally ill, but we had a meaningful private conversation that gave me the assurances I needed to move forward with this film.""I left that conversation feeling like it was intense but not thinking too much about it," Wolf continued. "I found out on Instagram that he [had] died, along with the rest of the world; only a very small group of close friends were aware that he was dying."According to Wolf, they spoke about everything Reubens childhood, his complicated relationship with fame, his ambitions, his commitment to his alter-ego, his sexuality, his arrest except the fact that he had been battling cancer for the past six years.Wolf told the outlet that from the beginning, Reubens was eager to tell his story."When Paul and I met, he started the conversation the same way the film starts, saying, 'I want to direct a film myself, but everybody's advising me against it, and I don't understand why," Wolf recalled.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"I said, 'Well, I'm here to talk to you about directing a film, so why don't we get to know each other and see if we can conceive of an approach that would appeal to you.' That began a very long and involved process of communication, but in that initial meeting, I didn't relate to Paul as a fan."WATCH: PAUL REUBENS WORKED WITH KIDS WITH CANCER BEFORE HIS DEATH: MARK HOLTONWhile Wolf admitted that he did not know at what point he felt Reubens trusted him, the star later remarked, "At some point, you just have to take a leap of faith.""He took a leap of faith with me, and Im grateful for it," Wolf added.Wolf told the outlet that he had a question that was never fully answered by Reubens during their lengthy sit-downs."It wasnt that I wanted an answer, but I was working chronologically through Paul's life in this epic interview, and we stopped before the arrest in Florida," he explained, referring to the entertainers 1991 detention for indecent exposure at an adult movie theater. At the time, Reubens was handed a small fine, but the damage was incalculable. In 2001, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of child pornography, which was reduced to an obscenity charge with probation. These are covered in the documentarys second part.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS"Paul anecdotally discussed that because we had a digressive conversation for over 40 hours, but I wanted to go in more detail through his arrest step by step," Wolf told the outlet."At the end of the film, I wanted to reflect with him, not only about his late career work, but also about how he felt having gone through the full interview about this process, if he did have all the perspective he thought he had, or if he had learned something about himself through the course of telling his full story. He had also been on the record and in the media discussing his second arrest."Wolf noted that it was important for the film to have Reubens' last words in his own voice, as well as for the film to end in his voice."The day after Paul Reubens died, I started reading the 1,500-page transcript of my interview with him, and I found significance and meaning and all sorts of things that I wouldn't have understood before," said Wolf. "I did encounter what are the last words ofPee-wee as Himself, which were profound and moving to me, and they actually were the last things Paul said in the interview."" All these different emotions, all these different influences and factors, stuff that I saw when I was little, I felt like I could somehow give that back," Reubens reflected in the documentary. "I felt like a good collector of it all. I was like a good vessel for it all.""Nothing would stop me," he shared. "Nothing would deter me that it would be pure in every way. And I think thats what it was. Its part of why I feel so proud of it. Because I delivered that. Ive lived up to that. Not just for you, but for myself."Wolf told The Associated Press that in looking back at their final conversations, it was clear that Reubens was "privately contemplating mortality.""I was aware that this was an extraordinary situation that was part of the story of the film and that the stakes were the highest I had ever experienced," said Wolf."Pee-wee as Himself" premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 48 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMLeo Terrell says Trump admin willing to take Harvard antisemitism fight all the way to Supreme CourtPresident Donald Trump isn't about to tolerate antisemitism, and a specialized DOJ task force fronted by Leo Terrell is on the case."We have tolerated antisemitism for the last four years," the civil rights attorney told "The Faulkner Focus" on Tuesday."Thank goodness President Trump is in office. He's not going to tolerate it. He's going to eliminate it. That's why I'm in this role right now. That's why Pam Bondi is the attorney general, and Harmeet Dhillon is the civil rights head," he continued. The Trump administration has frozen nearly $3 billion in funding for the Ivy League institution thus far and is now fighting to prevent the school from enrolling more foreign students. The administration's push to bar enrollment of such students, who comprise approximately 27% of the student body, has been temporarily put on hold after a judge blocked the move, and the case is on hold until Thursday.HARVARD UPDATES LAWSUIT AFTER TRUMP CANCELS ADDITIONAL $450M IN FUNDINGTerrell said the Trump administration will have to "match" Harvard in court as a legal blitz ensues, telling Fox News, "This is going to be a battle in the courtroom. If it goes all the way to the Supreme Court, Trump is going to do that that's why the task force is here.""Four years ago, nothing happened, but we're going to have to fight these lawsuits. We're going to have to take the money away"He added that coming to school in the U.S. on a student visa is a "privilege" and refuted claims that have shrouded alleged antisemitic happenings on campus under the guise of "academic freedom.""This is not academic freedom. This is antisemitism in its purest form, and it's being tolerated not only in universities, but throughout the country," he said.TRUMP FROZE FUNDING FOR HARVARD. MONEY TO THESE UNIVERSITIES MAY ALSO BE ON THE CHOPPING BLOCKThe Trump administration has continually insisted Harvard has failed to comply with demands to rid the campus of alleged antisemitism.Responding to recent rhetoric from the Trump administration, Harvard University President Alan Garber told NPR in a recent broadcast that the school needs to remain "firm" in its commitments to what it stands for."And what we stand for and I believe I speak for other universities is education, pursuit of the truth, helping to educate people for better futures"Garber also pushed back against Trump's floated idea to reallocate Harvard funding to trade schools, telling the outlet, "The money that goes to research universities in the form of grants and contracts, which is almost all the federal support that we get, is used to pay for work that we perform at the behest of the government.""So, in reallocating to some other use, including trade schools, it means that work just wont be performed," he said. "So, the right question is, is this the most effective use of federal funding? Do you really want to cut back on research dollars?"Garber continued, "I'm less concerned about whether it goes to a trade school or if it goes to some other project, like working on highways. The real question is, how much value does the federal government get from its expenditures on research? There is a lot of actual research demonstrating the returns to the American people have been enormous."0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 47 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMJersey Shore bar cancels Springsteen cover band over The Boss' anti-Trump rantsBruce Springsteen just got canceled at the Jersey Shore.A tribute band dedicated to The Boss music pulled the plug on a gig at a bar not far from his Garden State home after a dispute with its owner over the singer-songwriters anti-Trump comments, according to a report. No Surrender, a 20-year-old, nine-piece Springsteen cover band from New Jersey, was slated to play Rivs Toms River Hub on May 30 until the "Im on Fire" singer kicked off his European tour packed with on-stage rants flaming President Trump, NJ Advance Media reported.BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN RELEASES EP FEATURING ANTI-TRUMP RANTS FROM UK CONCERTBand leader Brad Hobicorn started receiving "concerned texts" from bar owner Tony Rivoli shortly after Springsteens comments went viral, according to the outlet.By Sunday, Rivoli allegedly put the kibosh on the show that was booked nine months in advance. He texted Hobicorn that the gig would be "too risky at the moment," citing the restaurants conservative customer base, the outlet reported."Unfortunately its just too much money I wanted to do the Springsteen tribute for that money in my social media team would have promoted it we would have done well but now because Bruce cant keep his mouth shut were screwed," Rivoli wrote in a text message to Hobicorn obtained by NJ Advance Media.Hobicorn offered to have his band play only classic-rock covers instead of Springsteen, but Rivoli balked at paying $2,500 for a classic-rock cover band, the outlet said.In a message sent to the bands bassist, Guy Fleming, Rivoli wrote, "Whenever the national anthem plays, my bar stands and is in total silence, thats our clientele. Toms River is red and wont stand for his bull."After Fleming posted about the situation on Facebook, Rivoli seemed to change his tune a bit insisting he never canceled the gig and had changed his mind. But the band decided it was too late for the bar owner to backtrack."This is not political for us at all," Hobicorn told the outlet Thursday. "Were just a cover band thats trying to make some money, and people rely on it financially. Were the ones really getting hurt."BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN IGNORES QUESTION ABOUT TRUMP FEUD WHILE SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS: VIDEO"At that point, there were negative vibes about the whole thing," Hobicorn said. "There was definitely a safety concern," he said.Rivoli, though, insisted the cover band could have played."As of (Wednesday), they could have played as No Surrender," Rivoli told the outlet."I think a lot of people of my base would not have came, but I could have been wrong. You know, who knows? You cant predict what people are going to do."Toms River bar and restaurant joints have previously sparked backlash for their conservative slant.Aqua Blu Kitchen & Cocktails in Toms River put a hamburger on its menu dedicated to the right-wing extremist group the Proud Boys in January, leading to a massive online backlash and an apology from the owner.Springsteen who was born in Long Branch and raised in Freehold lambasted Trumps administration as "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous" while kicking off the European leg of his "Land of Hope and Dreams" tour in Manchester, England, last week.Last Friday, Trump slammed the musician, calling him "Highly Overrated" and "dumb as a rock" for going "to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States.""Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, hes not a talented guy Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country," he posted to Truth Social.Instead of playing The Rivs Toms River Hub, No Surrender will play Headliner Oasis in Neptune Township on May 30, according to the outlet.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 38 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMIllegal immigrant healthcare costs in blue state triggers intense budget debateThe Republican minority leaders in California are responding to potential next steps for the highly scrutinized Medi-Cal program, which is insolvent, as some believe the ability for people to enroll "regardless of their immigration status" is a leading cause. The state faces a $12 billion budget shortfall as budget talks continue in Sacramento. The Medi-Cal program went insolvent earlier this year after it went billions over budget, resulting in $3.44 billion in loan requests to salvage the program, which covers low-income Golden State residents. Republicans said it was in large part due to illegal immigrants being allowed to enroll in the program, and Newsom also said that it was part of the spending issue, but not the whole picture, according to KCRA.LAWMAKERS REVEAL WHETHER AMERICANS SHOULD PICK UP THE MEDICAID TAB FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS"Thats going to continue to be a big debate here in California as we're wrestling with a $12 billion dollar deficit and the cost of providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants is $11.4 billion dollars, so if we just didn't do that, that would eliminate our budget deficit," California State Senate Minority Leader Brain Jones said. "Now, there's lots of other ways we can find $12 billion dollars to eliminate the deficit as well."Newsoms May budget revision proposes a pause for adults 19 and older from enrolling in "full-scope coverage" and to start charging a $100 premium each month "for individuals with certain statuses," Fox News Digital reported earlier this month."To be very clear, these proposals are the results of a $16 billion Trump Slump and higher-than-expected health care utilization. Because of these outside factors, the state must take difficult but necessary steps to ensure fiscal stability and preserve the long-term viability of Medi-Cal for all Californians," Elana Ross, deputy communications director for Newsom's office, told Fox News Digital in a statement."Governor Newsom refuses to turn his back on hardworking Californians, especially when it comes to their basic health care needs," she added. The proposal from the Newsom administration sparked criticism among some in the legislature, as the Democratic California Legislative Latino Caucus is suggesting a tax hike to pay for the programs coverage for illegal immigrants, according to KCRA. The question remains whether a $100 premium would be enough to get people to leave the program.LAWMAKERS IN DEEP BLUE STATE DEMAND AUDIT OVER SKYROCKETING HEALTHCARE COSTS: 'ALARMING NATURE'However, Jones said that Medi-Cal being offered to illegal immigrants might not be quite what Democrats present it as."It's just a messaging point for the governor and the Democratic leadership. It's not an actual thing. Meaning the governor and the Democrat leadership are promising illegal immigrants coverage, and they are on the rolls, but there's very little access," he said."A lot of doctors in California that used to provide Medicare and Medicaid have closed up shop, moved to other states. A lot of other doctors that are still here have stopped taking those kinds of patients, even if they're here legally or illegally, because the reimbursement rates are so low, the doctors actually lose money when they take a Medicare or Medicaid patient," Jones continued.NEWSOM CONCEDES SKYROCKETING HEALTHCARE COSTS FOR ILLEGALS ARE 'PARTIAL' CONTRIBUTOR TO MEDICAID PROBLEMMeanwhile, Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher told Fox News Digital in an interview that the budget shortfall is "a total disaster" that "was completely predictable.""You know, two years ago, Gavin Newsom and the supermajority Democrats decided to fund illegal immigrant healthcare through our Medi-Cal program. And everybody said it's gonna be billions of dollars. It's not sustainable. And at the time, Biden was president, and people were coming across the border, millions of people. We had no idea. And I think a lot of them came to California and signed up. And so now we have a completely unsustainable, bankrupted Medi-Cal system that's required $3.4 billion worth of loans to prop up."On a federal level, the pending reconciliation bill that recently passed the House of Representatives could also create issues for the states Medi-Cal offerings, as it would change the federal "match" from 90% to 80% for care that is not an emergency, which the Newsom administration says could cost the state billions, The Center Square reported."If Republicans move this extreme MAGA proposal forward, millions will lose coverage, hospitals will close, and safety nets could collapse under the weight," Newsom stated last week.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 33 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen
