Democrat defeats incumbent Republican Omaha mayor
Democrat challenger John Ewing defeated incumbent Republican Omaha mayor Jean Stothert in a victory that the Democratic Party is describing as an indictment against the Trump administration and the GOP.Ewing, who is currently the treasurer of Douglas County, will make history by becoming the first Black mayor of Nebraskas largest city, while Stothert was denied a fourth term."I called John Ewing and I congratulated him. John Ewing is inheriting tonight a great city, and we leave a strong foundation for the city that we all love. We are proud, are grateful and we are hopeful," Stothert said in her concession speech. The race between Stothert andEwing primarily revolved around local issues like street repairs and garbage service, but in the final stretch the campaign touched on more national, hot-button issues such as President Donald Trump's administration and transgender rights.JAMES CARVILLE WARNS DEMOCRATS AGAINST USING ALIENATING LEFTIST WORDS LIKE EQUITY AND INTERSECTIONALITYAlthough the mayor's office is nonpartisan, the candidates made it clear to voters that Stothert is a Republican and Ewing is a Democrat. One Stothert TV ad said "Ewing stands with radicals who want to allow boys in girls sports," according to the Associated Press.Meanwhile, Ewing aired ads that connect Stothert to the Trump administration, showing the mayor on a split screen with Trump and saying "Let's say no to the chaos and elect a mayor who will actually get things done."In the latest results from WOWT, Ewing was leading Stothert in the vote count by 48,693 to 37,758.DAVID HOGG SLAMS FAST-TRACK EFFORT TO OUST HIM AS DNC VICE CHAIRThe Democratic Party said with Ewings win, "Democrats further extend a significant streak of overperformances and victories in elections in 2025."From the school board to city council, and now to the mayors office, Nebraska voters are making their message heard loud and clear: They want strong Democratic leaders who will fight for them, protect their rights, and build opportunities within their communities. As Trump and his MAGA Republican allies continue to fail working families at every turn, voters are channeling their frustration into action at the voting booth," the Democratic Party said in a statement."After tonight, vulnerable House Republicans like Don Bacon are on notice," added DNC Chair Ken Martin. "Voters are sick of cowardly Republicans willing to bend the knee to Trump at their expense. They want true leaders who will govern on behalf of working families and not billionaire donors, which is why Democrats like John Ewing Jr. are winning elections up and down the ballot." The Associated Press contributed to this report.

ESPN's Stephen A Smith fires back at Charles Barkley after warning about being overexposed
ESPN star Stephen A. Smith fired back at Charles Barkley over the warning the Basketball Hall of Famer gave to the sports personality about being overexposed in the media.Smith prefaced his remarks on his podcast by saying he had a respect and appreciation for Barkley, suggesting the two were very close.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"Thats my guy, but that doesnt mean I always agree with him. And it doesnt mean that Im devoid of the right to call him a flaming hypocrite when its called upon," Smith said on "The Stephen A. Smith Show." "Do yall know how many commercials Charles Barkley does a year? Hell tell us two. Have you seen Charles Barkley in two commercials? Are you kidding me? Oh, by the way, the cat that you work with at least twice a week during the NBA season is Shaquille ONeal."Can we count the amount of endorsements he has? How often hes seen everywhere? What new product hes pitching? Did you say that about him? No, you didnt. But when it comes to me, I need to be careful."Smith wanted to get to the "heart of the matter.""And this isnt directed at Charles Barkley. This is directed at all the folks out there Im making people out there Im making people very uncomfortable, and I dont give s---," Smith said. "You can talk about people not taking me seriously all you want to, well see, because Im a serious brotha. That doesnt mean I dont know how to laugh and smile and have fun, you know who the hell I am."Barkley made his remarks during an appearance on OutKicks "Dont @ Me with Dan Dakich."The former Philadelphia 76ers star said he would not vote for Smith for president before warning Smith that people could get "sick" of him.CHARLES BARKLEY CALLS NCAA A 'BUNCH OF IDIOTS AND FOOLS' AMID CURRENT NIL LANDSCAPE"I was in the studio last night and I saw he was going to be on Law & Order tonight. I mean he is already on General Hospital, hes already on General Hospital, now he is going to be on Law & Order tonight, and I was just laughing. Stop being on every TV show because at some point people are going to get sick of you, and you are going to be like, Yeah I probably did too much. But once you do too much, its too late and people dont take you serious, and I think hes got to be careful in that aspect."Barkley said he wants to be on TV less and less, because "less is more.""My friends close to me give me a lot of credit, and Im not blowing my own horn, I want to be on TV as less as possible, to be honest with you Dan. Thats why I only do a couple commercials a year. I dont go on a bunch of shows, less is more, because the more you do, the less people take you serious. And I dont feel the need to grab every dime, I dont feel the need to grab every dime at my disposal," Barkley said."Ive been arguing with my agent, he said we could do five-seven commercials a year, I said we are going to do two commercials a year, thats it. I dont want to be on TV all the time. I get sick of seeing myself doMarch Madness, but I dont want to be on TV all the time and I dont do a bunch of TV stuff because I dont want to people get sick of you, thats my number one thing. UN revisits 'killer robot' regulations as concerns about AI-controlled weapons grow
Several nations met at the United Nations (U.N.) on Monday to revisit a topic that the international body has been discussing for over a decade: the lack of regulations on lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS), often referred to as "killer robots."This latest round of talks comes as wars rage in Ukraine and Gaza. While the meeting was held behind closed doors, U.N. Secretary-General Antnio Guterres released a statement doubling down on his 2026 deadline for a legally binding solution to threats posed by LAWS."Machines that have the power and discretion to take human lives without human control are politically unacceptable, morally repugnant and should be banned by international law," Guterres said in a statement. "We cannot delegate life-or-death decisions to machines," he later added.FORMER TRUMP OFFICIAL SLAMS UN REFORM EFFORTS AS 'EIGHT AND A HALF YEARS LATE'International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Mirjana Spoljaric delivered a statement to nations participating in Monday's meeting. Spoljaric expressed the ICRCs support for efforts to regulate LAWS but warned that technology is evolving faster than regulations, making threats posed by the systems "more worrying.""Machines with the power and discretion to take lives without human involvement threaten to transform warfare in ways with grave humanitarian consequences. They also raise fundamental ethical and human rights concerns. All humanity will be affected," Spoljaric said.NUCLEAR WATCHDOG URGES 'TRUST BUT VERIFY' THAT IRAN ENGAGES IN GOOD-FAITH NEGOTIATIONSArtificial intelligence is not necessarily a prerequisite for something to be considered an autonomous weapon, according to the U.N., as not all autonomous systems fully rely on AI. Some can use pre-programmed functions for certain tasks. However, AI "could further enable" autonomous weapons systems, the U.N. said.Vice President of the Conservative Partnership Institute Rachel Bovard, however, says that while regulation of autonomous weapons is necessary, the U.S. needs to be cautious when it comes to the development of international law."AI is the wild west and every country is trying to determine the rules of the road. Some regulation will be imperative to preserving our humanity. When it comes to international law, however, the U.S. should proceed with caution," Bovard told Fox News Digital. "As we have learned with everything from trade to health, subjecting our national sovereignty to international dictates can have lasting unintended consequences. If existing international law is sufficient at the moment, that is what should govern."Countries in the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons have been meeting since 2014 to discuss a possible full ban on LAWS that operate without human control and to regulate those with more human involvement, according to Reuters. In 2023, more than 160 nations backed a U.N. resolution calling on countries across the globe to address the risks posed by LAWS. However, there is currently no international law specifically regulating LAWS.

Trump visits Qatar as country's jet offer puts spotlight on nation's growing influence in Washington
The deepening U.S. relationship with Qatar is drawing fresh scrutiny this week as President Donald Trump began a Middle East tour amid reports that he may accept a free jet from the Qatari royal family to replace his current plane as Air Force One.The prospect has drawn bipartisan pushback, which Trump has met with indifference."Qatar is not, in my opinion, a great ally. I mean, they support Hamas. So what I'm worried about is the safety of the president," Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told reporters on Tuesday.Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Fox News, "I think it's not worth the appearance of impropriety."TRUMP DEFENDS QATAR JUMBO JET OFFER AS TROUBLED BOEING FAILS TO DELIVER NEW AIR FORCE ONE FLEET"[The Qataris] said to me, 'we would like to, in effect, we would like to make a gift. You've done so many things. and we'd like to make you a gift to the Defense Department,' which is where it's going. and I said, 'Well, that's nice.' Now, some people say, 'Oh, you shouldn't accept gifts for the country.' My attitude is, why wouldn't I accept the gift? We're giving to everybody else, why wouldn't I accept a gift?" Trump explained to Fox News' Sean Hannity on Tuesdsay.U.S. relations with Doha have come a long way since 2017, when Trump accused Qatar of harboring terrorism: "The nation of Qatar, unfortunately, has historically been a funder of terrorism at a very high level," Trump said at the time. From there, Qatar became a major non-NATO ally to the U.S. in 2022 under President Biden and is home to Al Udeid Air Base, one of the U.S. largest Middle East bases and a key hub for U.S. Central Command operations.Qatar has been at the forefront of peace and hostage negotiations, especially in the war between Israel and Hamas. An Israeli delegation traveled to Doha on Tuesday to hash out a potential agreement on a hostage exchange and ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."Qatar is an indispensable security and energy partner to the United States. It's a strategic partnership that has grown stronger and more expansive over time," Ali Al-Ansari, media attach at the Qatari embassy, told Fox News Digital. "His highness the Amir and President Trump have a longstanding relationship over many years, and both leaders have the shared goals of peace, security and stability.""Qatar is working closely with the president and his team to advance these shared goals, whether in Gaza, Ukraine, Congo or other areas of instability."TRUMP SAYS HE'LL DROP SANCTIONS ON SYRIA IN MOVE TO NORMALIZE RELATIONSIn March, weeks of negotiations led by U.S. and Qatari mediators led to the release of American George Glezmann, who had been imprisoned by the Taliban in Afghanistan for more than two years. Dohas negotiators were also involved in the U.S.-Hamas deal to release the last living American hostage, Edan Alexander, on Monday."Theyre very smart at making themselves useful," said Michael Makovsky, CEO of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America. The Trump Organization has cinched a new deal to build a luxury golf resort in Qatar, partnering with Qatari Diar, a real estate company backed by that countrys sovereign wealth fund."Their financial connections to people in Trumps orbit, their making themselves useful as our mediators, communicating that strategically, the Qataris have been very effective at making themselves important," Makovsky added. And despite its relatively small population less than 3 million Qatar controls over 10% of the worlds natural gas reserves."They have an enormous amount of influence as a result of the money they spend," said Jonathan Schanzer, executive director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. Energy Secretary Chris Wright praised Qatar as a "valued energy partner" the second-largest producer of liquid natural gas in the world. "I look forward to building on this new era of U.S.-Qatari relations together," he said. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff has praised Qatar as a valued partner in negotiations.Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans., joined Trump officials in defending Qatar during a Senate hearing on campus antisemitism recently. As a witness described links between the Qataris donating billions to universities and antisemitic protests, Marshall shot back: "Qatar has been a great ally to America. So I don't know why you're attacking them."But others are skeptical."TheQataris have been sponsoring a wide range of terror groups for decades," said Schanzer. "It's been a bipartisan decision to turn a blind eye to the problem."Israel supporters have long accused Qatar of funding Hamas. Prior to the outbreak of war after Oct. 7, 2023, Doha for years sent millions of dollars per month to the Gaza Strip to prop up Hamas governing structure there.Theyve also spent billions in the U.S., including an aggressive lobbying operation in Washington."We have seen them invest billions of dollars into highereducation. We know that they're investing in K-12 education in this country," said Schanzer. "They're buying up parcels of valuable real estate. They are spending massive amounts of money in states like Texas and South Carolina, where you have the defense industry and the energy industry.""Over the last two decades or so they have spent a lot of money, expended a lot of effort, and it's now paying dividends."Schanzer said he was pleased the discussion over the Boeing plane had spurred a national conversation over Qatars influence in the U.S."This is a longstanding problem that has gone unaddressed by Barack Obama, by Joe Biden, by George W. Bush and by Trump."

New House bill would make Trump ban on transgender troops permanent
FIRST ON FOX: A new House GOP bill would make President Donald Trump's executive order banning transgender troops in the military a permanent federal policy.Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala., is introducing the legislation this week and told Fox News Digital that his office has been in contact with the Trump administration on the measure."What we had with this trans movement was we had a bunch of people coming in, signing a six-year contract, and then starting the surgeries and starting the hormone replacements they weren't fit for service, so they spent four or five years on the taxpayer's dime getting these surgeries and these chemicals and all this stuff, and then by the time they could really actually serve, they were ready to get out," Moore told Fox News Digital. He said the bill would benefit both taxpayers in funding the military and overall recruitment to the armed forces.ANTI-ABORTION PROVIDER MEASURE IN TRUMP'S 'BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL' COULD SPARK HOUSE GOP REBELLION"I think in many ways the taxpayers get a much bigger bang for their buck, No. 1," said Moore, a veteran. "And No. 2, I think that if I'm looking at joining, these guys are really focused on fighting, and if I'm in the foxhole with these guys, these are people I've trained with, they're capable. You've got to have that on a battlefield."A source familiar with his office's discussions with the administration showed Fox News Digital an email that suggested tacit approval of the bill from the White House Office of Management and Budget, Pentagon, Department of Homeland Security and National Security Council. The bill is titled the Readiness Over Wokeness Act, according to draft legislation previewed by Fox News Digital. The text said the bill would "prohibit individuals with gender dysphoria from serving as members of the Armed Forces."It would enact a similar ban on people with "a history of gender-affirming care including cross-sex hormone therapy or sex reassignment or genital reconstruction surgery as treatment for gender dysphoria or in pursuit of a sex transition."BROWN UNIVERSITY IN GOP CROSSHAIRS AFTER STUDENT'S DOGE-LIKE EMAIL KICKS OFF FRENZYTrump signed an executive order banning transgender people from serving in the U.S. military shortly after he was sworn in for his second term.Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth followed suit by enacting the order, including discharging current transgender personnel. The ban was challenged in court but recently upheld by the Supreme Court this month in a decisive victory for Trump."No More Trans [at the Defense Department]," Hegseth wrote on X soon after the order came down.Trump instituted a similar policy during his first term, though it was later reversed by former President Joe Biden. But it would be much harder for a future Democrat administration to reverse Moore's bill if it passed the House and Senate and was signed into law by Trump.Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for additional comment.

I'm a young Democrat and I've got to admit my Party is losing 2025 while looking at 2028
I remember knocking on doors for Barack Obama as a high school student, believing I was part of a movement that would define the future. Back then, the Democratic Party was the party of energy, change, and hope and young people powered that movement. Now, more than 100 days into President Donald Trumps second term, that spirit feels almost unrecognizable. For millennials and Gen Z, frustration with the Democratic Party isn't just simmering it's boiling over. Young voters who once leaned left with enthusiasm are increasingly disillusioned. Many are tuning out. Some are even crossing over.In 2020, Joe Biden captured 60% of the youth vote. But by 2024, that margin narrowed dramatically. Among young men aged 1829, 56% voted for Donald Trump a seismic shift that should have forced a reckoning. Instead, Democratic leadership clung to the same consultants, the same slogans, and the same tired strategies.LESS THAN 4 MONTHS INTO TRUMP'S 2ND TERM, DEMS ARE ALREADY EYEING THE 2028 RACEAnd now, as we head towards Trump's second 100 days, the consequences are becoming painfully clear. While Trump aggressively pushes his agenda, Democrats seem paralyzed, unable to mount serious opposition or offer a bold alternative. According to Gallup, approval of Congress sits at just 17%, with Democratic leadership faring no better.Oversight is weak. Messaging is muddled. Voters aren't just frustrated with the opposition; they're frustrated with the party they once trusted to fight for them. The missed opportunities are glaring. Months ago, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez challenged Rep. Gerry Connolly for the top Democratic spot on the House Oversight Committee a critical platform for holding Trump accountable. She represented the urgency, energy, and new leadership voters were craving. She offered a chance to meet the moment.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONDemocratic leadership chose instead to stick with the old guard. Connolly won and just a few weeks later, he announced he will not seek re-election and is stepping down from his leadership position on the committee.I'm glad he made the decision that's best for his health. But where was that foresight when the future was knocking? Where was that thinking when voters were demanding a passing of the baton?Instead of handing leadership to someone igniting and electrifying the party, they chose to delay change. At what cost? Since then, theres been little meaningful oversight, little fresh energy. Another chance wasted exactly when we needed strength and boldness most.Democrats are busy plotting for 2028 banking on demographics, banking on time. But they are losing 2025. They are losing the generation that grew up in an era defined by endless wars, economic crashes, and broken promises voters who no longer believe that simply "being better than Trump" is enough. The next 100 days of Trump's presidency won't be any easier. If Democrats keep missing the moments right in front of them, the next generation wont be there when they finally look around for help.

House Democrat to introduce reparations push, declares 'moral obligation' to send trillions to Black Americans
A House Democrat plans to introduce a resolution calling for the U.S. to spend trillions of dollars on reparations for Black Americans this week.Rep. Summer Lee, D-Penn., plans to introduce the Reparations Now Resolution on Thursday. Lee met with other lawmakers and activists on Capitol Hill on Tuesday at an event titled "Why We Cant Wait: Advancing Reparative Justice in Our Lifetime." She argues that reparations are a "moral and legal obligation" for Americans."This is a moment in time where societies are shaped [and] new societies are built. We should be the ones who are shaping it," said Lee."Their real intention is to build up whatever comes next in their image," she said, referring to the Trump administration, "and we better fight like hell to make sure that were building it in our image."Lee added that "it took nothing but a stroke of a pen," for President Donald Trump to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal government.'TIPPING THE SCALES': HOUSE GOP LEADERS RIP ACTBLUE AFTER DEM FUNDRAISING GIANT HIT WITH SUBPOENA"Thats why we recognize that the fight to restore Black folks has to be so much more substantive," she added.Lee's resolution cites U.S. slavery, Jim Crow laws, and other racially discriminatory laws and policies to justify spending trillions of dollars supporting the descendants of Black Americans in the U.S.BLACK CAUCUS CHAIR ACCUSES TRUMP OF 'PURGE' OF 'MINORITY' FEDERAL WORKERSLee's push comes after Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., introduced her own legislation in February calling for a federal commission to study U.S. slavery and reparation proposals."We are in a moment of anti-Blackness on steroids and we refuse to be silent," Pressley said at the time. "We will not back down in our pursuit of racial justice."The bill aims to create a federal commission charged with investigating the enduring impacts of slavery and its aftermath, along with developing concrete proposals for reparations to African Americans who are descendants of slaves, Pressley said.Democratic politicians in blue states, including California, in recent years have floated reparations as a way to atone for what proponents describe as a legacy of racist policies that created disparities for Black people in housing, education and health.HOUSE DEMS ORGANIZE RAPID RESPONSE TASK FORCE AND LITIGATION GROUP TO COMBAT TRUMP AGENDADemocrats on the Hill and in California have pushed for passage of reparations legislation, with other cities and states proposing ideas for reparations.
