Florida State University alleged mass shooter appears in mugshot with disfigured face after hospital release
The alleged Florida State University shooter was seen in a new mugshot with a disfigured face after being released from the hospital a month after the deadly shooting.According to the Tallahassee Police Department, Phoenix Ikner, 20, was released from a local hospital following an extended stay and multiple surgeries to treat injuries he sustained during the April 17 shooting at Florida State University, where he opened fire on campus.Ikner is accused of killing two men and injuring six others. The FSU student was shot in the jaw by campus police as they responded to the shooting.Following his booking, Ikner was transferred to the Wakulla County Detention Facility, where he will await his first appearance in court.FSU SHOOTING: SHERIFFS OFFICE SPEAKS ON SUSPECTS PAST, DEPUTY STEPMOTHERPolice said Ikner has been transported to a detention facility in the region and faces two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder."In any case, especially one of this magnitude, the Tallahassee Police Department has the highest commitment to justice, transparency, and the safety of our community," Chief of Police Lawrence Revell said in a news release. "We are grateful for the work of our detectives, officers, medical personnel, and partner agencies who helped bring us to this point."Police added that Ikners transfer to another facility is standard protocol due to him being the stepson of a Leon County Sheriffs Office deputy.Authorities determined that the gun Ikner allegedly used in the killings belonged to his mother, Jessica Ikner, who has been an officer for more than 18 years and has done a "tremendous job" in her position, police previously said.FSU SHOOTING SUSPECT'S CHILDHOOD INCLUDED ALLEGED FAMILY KIDNAPPING ABROAD, CUSTODY FIGHT: DOCS"Her service to this community has been exceptional," Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil said at an April press conference after the shooting. "Unfortunately, her son had access to one of her weapons and that was one of the weapons that was found at the scene. And we are continuing that investigation into how that weapon was used."Months before the shooting, Ikner was quoted in an FSU student newspaper article about anti-Trump protests at the school and was identified as a political science major, according to WFLA.MORE DETAILS EMERGE ABOUT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY SHOOTING SUSPECT PHOENIX IKNER AS MOTIVE REMAINS A MYSTERYThe article was later updated to say, "An earlier version of this article included a quote from the gunman in the April 17 shooting at FSU and was removed at the decision of our editors to maintain ethical journalistic standards and avoid amplifying the voice of an individual responsible for violence."The biological mother of Ikner allegedly kidnapped him in 2015, when he was 11, and traveled with him to Norway in violation of a custody agreement, according to Leon County court records. In keeping with the Tallahassee Police Departments commitment to transparency and accountability, the police department said the probable cause affidavit "will be made publicly available" after Ikners first appearance in court.Ikner is expected in court for his first appearance Tuesday at 11 a.m., according to online court records.Fox News Digital's Greg Norman contributed to this report.

Far-left mayor arrested at ICE facility denies impeding law enforcement, says protest 'absolutely' effective
Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka, who was arrested for trespassing while protesting at a federal immigration facility last week, said Monday during a televised gubernatorial debate that his actions were "absolutely" an effective way to protest the president's immigration clampdown.Baraka has denied he did anything wrong despite federal authorities arresting him for trespassing at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark on Friday.During Monday's debate among Democrat candidates in New Jersey's open governor's race, he doubled down on the assertion he did nothing wrong."We haven't interfered with federal law enforcement," Baraka said early on in the debate when moderators turned their questioning to Friday's incident at the ICE detention facility in Newark. "We didn't go down there to protest. We actually went down there to have a press conference. And the Congress has oversight. And they began to exercise their oversight. It was escalated by Homeland Security. They made an arrest because they got a call to do so. And that's what happened."WHO IS THE DEMOCRATIC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING AT AN ICE DETENTION CENTER?Baraka's arrest occurred during a protest at Delaney Hall attended by three members of Congress, who said they were in attendance to perform their congressionally-mandated oversight duties related to federal detention facilities. The three lawmakers were outside the facility with a group of protesters when the gates opened to allow an ICE bus in. The lawmakers then rushed through the gates and past security, according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security. The arrest came as activists had been calling for access to the facility for days, which is a privately run facility that was revamped as an immigration detention facility this year. "We're not asking for anything that's incorrect. We ask them to obey our laws," Baraka said after the incident. "To obey the policies and rules here in the city and the state of New Jersey, not to run roughshod over the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, the Fourth, the Fifth, the Fourteenth Amendment and everybody on this soil who deserves due process."NEWARK MAYOR SPEAKS AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM HSI FACILITYDuring Monday night's debate, the other gubernatorial candidates were asked if they thought Baraka's tactics were "effective" the same way he does and whether they would have done things differently. While, for the most part, all the candidates tip-toed around the question, instead choosing to tout their bona fides in supporting immigration and challenging President Donald Trump, some did express support for Baraka."I'm not saying I would do anything differently," said Rep. Mikie Sherrill, the four-term Democrat representing the state's 11th Congressional District. "I don't think the mayor was trespassing. In talking to my congressional colleagues, he was invited in. They asked him to leave, he left, and then he got arrested."CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Ras didn't do anything wrong," Steve Fluop, the mayor of Jersey City and another candidate for New Jersey governor, said in direct response to the moderators' question about whether they agreed with Baraka's tactics. The rest of the candidates did not directly answer the question before the moderators moved on to the next topic.

Retired UK police officer suing after being arrested over 'thought crime' post on social media
A retired police officer in the United Kingdom is reportedly taking legal action after he was arrested over a social media post warning about the rising threat of antisemitism in the UK following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks against Israel.Julian Foulkes, a 71-year-old retired special constable from Kent, England, was arrested in November 2023 and had his home searched after one of his posts on X was reported to law enforcement, according to the Daily Mail.Foulkes reportedly grew concerned as anti-Israel protests swept across London and other major European cities in the weeks following the October 7 attacks. In a post on X that month, he warned about escalating antisemitism after rioters stormed a Russian airport searching for arrivals from Tel Aviv."One step away from storming Heathrow looking for Jewish arrivals" he posted in a reply to a pro-Palestinian activist's post.AMERICAN HOSTAGE EDAN ALEXANDER RELEASED BY HAMAS AFTER MORE THAN 580 DAYS IN CAPTIVITYFoulkes told the Mail that he was "shocked and flabbergasted" after Kent Police officers arrived at his door later to search his home.According to bodycam footage reviewed by The Telegraph, an officer raised concerns about the books he was reading, including those by British author and commentator Douglas Murray, commenting that his bookshelf contained "very Brexit-y things."Police also reportedly raised concerns about a shopping list from his wife, a hairdresser, which included items like bleach, tin foil and gloves.Police seized his electronic devices and detained Foulkes for eight hours before issuing him a caution a formal warning given to a person who admits to an offense to avoid prosecution.UK MAN WARNS ABOUT STATE PROSECUTING THOUGHT CRIMES AFTER CHARGED FOR SILENT PRAYER: HORRIFIC IMPLICATIONSFoulkes said he accepted the caution out of fear that he would be kept from visiting his only surviving daughter, who lives in Australia. He compared the ordeal to being targeted for a "thought crime.""This is absolutely an Orwellian-style thought crime. It's absolutely ridiculous because I sent a tweet which was reasonable in the circumstances and it was a tweet based on events I'd read about just the previous day and in the previous week," he told the Mail."It was taken out of context and I really can't go through all the failings of Kent police - as much as I'd like to - but it's been quite astonishing to me especially as I served with them for 10 years," he added. The Kent Police issued an apology to Foulkes on Monday, saying they had made a mistake and that his record had been cleared.FORMER MUMFORD AND SONS MUSICIAN ASKS WHITE HOUSE IF BRITS PUNISHED OVER FREE SPEECH CAN SEEK ASYLUM IN US"On 2 November 2023 a report was made to Kent Police about a social media post that was alleged to have been offensive, and Mr Foulkes was arrested on the same day," the statement shared with Fox News Digital read."Although he was offered and accepted an unconditional caution following his own independent legal advice, a subsequent review of the case by the force concluded that the caution was not appropriate in the circumstances and should not have been issued.""Kent Police apologizes to Mr Foulkes for the distress caused and how the report was investigated. We have expunged the caution from his record and are pleased to facilitate this correction. Mr Foulkes has been informed of the decision and a further review of the matter will now be carried out to identify any learning opportunities," the statement continued.JD VANCE SPARS WITH BRITISH PRIME MINISTER OVER FREE SPEECH CENSORSHIP DURING OVAL OFFICE MEETINGFoulkes says he has sought legal help and plans to sue the police force for wrongful arrest. The Free Speech Union is raising money to cover the costs of his legal fight.Concerns about free speech being under threat in the UK have drawn the attention of U.S. leaders like Vice President JD Vance. In a speech to European leaders in February, Vance warned that Europe appeared to be retreating from some of its fundamental values it shares with the U.S. and adopting "Soviet-era" censorship.British commentator and former Mumford and Sons guitarist Winston Marshall recently appeared at a White House briefing to ask the Trump administration if they would consider giving political asylum to Brits who faced prosecution for posting "hate speech" online.
