WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMichigan county's push to erect Charlie Kirk statue falls short as university says noA Michigan Countys effort to immortalize Charlie Kirk has failed.Ferris State University recently declined to erect a statue of Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated a few weeks ago.The effort was proposed by Mecosta Countys Board of Commissioners, who voted to contact Ferris State University President Bill Pink about advancing the process.Pink responded with a letter blocking the request, citing a policy from the university that will only allow statues of people who left an impact on the school.FLORIDA COLLEGE ANNOUNCES CHARLIE KIRK STATUE: A REMINDER OF WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT"While we condemn all acts of violence and extend our sympathies regarding Mr. Kirk's tragic death, the University follows a longstanding practice that limits statues on campus to individuals who have made significant, direct contributions to Ferris State University itself," the letter stated. The only statue dedicated to a person on campus is the founder, Woodbridge N. Ferris."During the Sept. 18 meeting of the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Chris Zimmerman, R-District 3, read the board a draft letter to send to Pink proposing a statue of Charlie Kirk be erected on the FSU campus. He also presented the board a picture of a similar statue, according to meeting minutes. The board approved sending the letter in a 5-1 vote," the Detroit Free Press reported.YEARS OF CAMPUS ATTACKS ON CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISTS RESURFACE AFTER CHARLIE KIRKS MURDERBoard members reportedly discussed erecting a bronze statue of Kirk's likeness in collaboration with Ferris State Universitys art department. The statue was also going to include a plaque recognizing the collaboration between the board of commissioners and the university."Charlie's gift of public speaking, debate style, and inspirational messages has influenced millions of people across our great nation. He had a real knack for engaging young people in civilized discussions on various topics that influenced public policy. As horrific as his assassination may be, we should not quickly forget his legacy," the board of commissioners' letter read.Ever since Kirk was assassinated Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, the organization has grown and received massive support.UTAH STUDENTS LIFT VOICES IN PRAYER AT VIGIL FOR CHARLIE KIRKS CHRISTIAN LEGACY: 'FELT CALLED BY GOD'After Kirk's massive memorial service on Sept. 13, TPUSA announced that it has received more than 120,000 inquiries from people wanting to start new campus chapters. There have been other efforts to immortalize Kirk. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMamdani assails Trump for 'political retribution' against Letitia James in sweeping defense of embattled AGSocialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani defended Democrat New York Attorney General Letitia James following her grand jury indictment on charges of bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution, calling it a "shameless act of political retribution" from the Trump administration."This is not simply an attack on Attorney General Tish James," Mamdani said Friday during a press conference with local New York leaders speaking out in defense of James. "This is an attack on our city. And each one of us represents different parts of that same city, and we speak with one voice today."A grand jury in Virginia indicted James Thursday months after Federal Housing Finance Director Bill Pulte said in a criminal referral to the Department of Justice in April that James allegedly falsified mortgage records to obtain more favorable loans.Mamdani a left-wing candidate who has advocated for and backed communist principles, including calling for the seizure of the "means of production" said he spoke with James after she was indicted Thursday and relayed she was confident she would win the case against her.LETITIA JAMES' OWN WORDS COME BACK TO HAUNT HER AFTER FEDERAL BANK FRAUD CHARGES FILED"Last night, she told me, 'Don't worry about me,'" he said. "And that's indicative of an attorney general who has spent all of her time worrying about the people of this city. And so I know that the crosshairs the Trump administration is putting the attorney general through is because of the fact that she has had the audacity to stand up to him at a time when so many have bowed.""She has also made it clear to myself and many others that she has a full confidence in the legal team around her that will ensure that not only will she have the record of having won the case in the courtroom behind us, but winning this case as well," Mamdani later added, referring to the New York City courthouse where President Donald Trump stood trial in the interim of his first and second presidency in New York v. Trump.James is a longtime political foe of Trump's, including campaigning for the attorney general job in 2018 by vowing to aggressively pursue legal charges against Trump if elected. Her office filed 100 legal challenges against the first Trump administration and said after his second presidential win in 2024 that she would continue challenging him in the courts to "defend the rights of New Yorkers and the rule of law."James' office also launched the New York civil fraud case against Trump and the Trump Organization over allegations of faulty business practices, winning a nearly $500 million judgment in 2024.Mamdani continued that the indictment is a "shameless act of political retribution" at the hands of Trump against James.ANDERSON COOPER SAYS IT WAS 'NOT A GREAT LOOK' FOR LETITIA JAMES TO THREATEN TO SUE TRUMP AFTER HER ELECTION"What Donald Trump has sought to do with taking over the federal government is to advance his own greed and his own agenda," he said. "And we are now watching, as in the pursuit of that advancement, he lays waste to our democracy. This is a blatant miscarriage of justice. This is a shameless act of political retribution.""Instead of prosecuting Tish James for doing her job, Donald Trump should be doing his. Because Donald Trump ran for president on three promises: to carry out mass deportation, to punish his political enemies and to ease the cost of living crisis," he said, claiming Trump is "fundamentally incapable of delivering on" the third promise. He vowed to defend James amid the legal troubles while slamming Trump's "authoritarian administration.""This indictment is instructive in two clear ways," he said. "The first, in its example of an authoritarian administration that is looking to punish those for whom their only crime is holding Donald Trump to the same laws that every American should be held to. And the second is what it asks of each of us. Will we sit idly by as an authoritarian president like Donald Trump attacks the very fabric of this democracy?"NEW YORK AG LETITIA JAMES' INDICTMENT SPARKS SHARP PARTISAN DIVIDEPulte's criminal referral letter in April pointed to a Norfolk, Virginia, home James purchased in 2023, which she identified on mortgage documents and a Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac form as a property that would serve as her primary residence.James is legally required to live in New York as a statewide elected official in that state. The criminal referral also cited past reported issues with James' properties, including a 2001 purchase of a Brooklyn, New York, property. The certificate of occupancy lists the property as a five-unit residence, while James' mortgages list the property as four units, which could affect mortgage agreements.Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and James' office for comment Friday afternoon and has not yet received any responses.Fox News Digital's Andrew Mark Miller contributed to this report.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 9 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMHouse GOP blocks Dems' military pay bill as government shutdown threatens checksA Democrat-led bid to force through a bill to pay the military during the government shutdown was blocked in the House on Friday.Democrats and some Republicans have been demanding a House vote on ensuring U.S. troops do not miss their coming Oct. 15 paycheck or any others as the government shutdown barrels into a third week. But GOP leaders have largely dismissed the request, panning it as a Democrat bid to save face after rejecting Republicans' funding bill that would have kept the military and other federal workers paid.Rep. Sarah Elfreth, D-Md., attempted to ask for unanimous consent to pass the legislation on Friday afternoon during a pro forma session in the House.JOHNSON RAISES STAKES ON SCHUMER AS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN BARRELS INTO WEEK 3But House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Mike Bost, R-Ill., who was presiding over the chamber, gaveled out of session before Elfreth could finish reading her request.Active duty service members are deemed "essential" and so must keep working during the government shutdown. But they and other federal employees are expected to miss pay until the government is funded at which point they would receive back pay from the checks skipped during the shutdown. The House passed a GOP-led CR largely along party lines on Sept. 19. It would keep current government funding levels roughly flat until Nov. 21 to give Congress more time to strike a deal on fiscal year 2026 spending levels. The measure is free from other policy riders, save for about $88 million toward enhanced security for lawmakers, the White House and the judicial branch which has bipartisan support. But Democrats, furious at being sidelined in those government funding discussions, are calling for both an extension of COVID-19 pandemic-era Obamacare subsidies and an end to Republicans' recent Medicaid cuts in exchange for their support. The funding bill has been stalled in the Senate, where it's been rejected by Democrats seven times.Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was visibly frustrated on Friday when he addressed reporters for his now-daily shutdown press conference and broached the issue of military pay."By way of reminder, the House passed a clean, nonpartisan CR three weeks ago today to keep the government funded and, by extension, to pay our troops and TSA agents and Border Patrol agents and air traffic controllers and the rest of our federal workforce," Johnson said.SCREAMING MATCH ERUPTS BETWEEN HAKEEM JEFFRIES, MIKE LAWLER AS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN CHAOS CONTINUES"We had that vote three weeks ago. And since then, Senate Democrats have voted repeatedly to keep the government closed. And the Senate, they have now voted seven times to block paychecks for 2 million federal civilian workers and 1.3 million active-duty military men and women."Johnson later told reporters on a press call that a standalone vote would be a "pointless exercise," because "Senate Democrats will block it."House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., told Fox News Digital that Democrats' Friday effort on the chamber floor was a political stunt "of gargantuan proportions.""You can't do that in a pro forma session. So again, it's just to get attention," Emmer said. And while the GOP has been largely united on the issue, at least two House Republicans, Reps. Jen Kiggans, R-Va., and Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., have publicly pushed for standalone votes on military pay.Under rules dictated by the Constitution, the chamber must meet for brief periods every few days called "pro forma" sessions to ensure continuity, even if there are no formal legislative matters at hand.Pro forma sessions can also be opportunities for lawmakers to give brief speeches or introduce legislation that they otherwise would not have.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 9 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDHS rips Houston Halloween display depicting hanging of ICE agents, demands 'sanctuary politicians' stand downThe Department of Homeland Security (DHS) called on "sanctuary politicians" to "tone down their rhetoric" against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers following the emergence of a Halloween display in Houston that depicts the hanging of agents. The display located in the predominantly Hispanic Second Ward neighborhood of Houston, Texas features multiple mannequins. Two of the figures dressed in red hats, black shirts, khaki pants and black masks are seen hanging from ropes around their necks on wooden gallows topped with a Mexican flag, video showed."Effigies of ICE agents dressed in black shirts with red hats were hung from homemade gallows with zip ties in their pockets,"DHS said. "The display, surrounded by coffins, barbed wire, and featuring a Mexican flag, was a mock execution ground.""Following a weekend of domestic terrorists attacking federal law enforcement officers, the Department of Homeland Securityis calling for sanctuary politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement law enforcement," DHS added. "Our officers are facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them and their families are being doxxed and threatened online."BORDER PATROL CHIEF FIRES BACK AFTER PRITZKER CALLS FEDERAL OPERATIONS UNCONSTITUTIONAL INVASIONHomeland Security also condemned alleged threats that have been sent to the families of ICE agents."One agents spouse was sent this Facebook message by Robert Buckley of Lakeville, Massachusetts: Your husband, the ICE man is a f--- and retribution will come your way eventually," according to DHS."In Texas, an ICE officers spouse received a call saying, I dont know how you let your husband work for ICE, and you sleep at night. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMHair-loss drug tied to suicides, depression and anxiety in global studyMillions of men undergoing hair loss treatment may be putting their mental health on the line.Finasteride, a hair-loss drug prescribed for androgenetic alopecia, the most common form of baldness, has been linked to a higher risk of suicide in global studies.A recent review by professor Mayer Brezis of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which was published in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, argues that there is now enough evidence to mark depression, anxiety and suicidality as genuine risks of the drug.POPULAR BACK PAIN MEDICATION LINKED TO BRAIN HEALTH RISKS IN SOME PATIENTSFinasteride has been linked to depression and suicide for more than 20 years, Brezis revealed, calling attention to the lack of action from manufacturers and regulators. These concerns were raised in several studies as early as 2002. Four independent analyses and four studies indicating a "significant increase" in depression, anxiety and suicidal behavior were released between 2017 and 2023."There has been, therefore, a two-decade delay in the realization of the incidences and the gravity of neuropsychiatric effects, allowing harm from a medicine prescribed for a cosmetic indication of hair loss," the author wrote in the study."Over 20 years worldwide, hundreds of thousands may have endured depression, and hundreds may have died by suicide."Finasteride users have reported ongoing symptoms even after the drug is stopped, including insomnia, panic attacks, cognitive dysfunction and suicidal thoughts.NEW STEM CELL THERAPY SHOWS PROMISING RESULTS FOR TREATING HAIR LOSS IN PRECLINICAL TRIALSIn a Hebrew University of Jerusalem press release, Brezis reiterated that the evidence of this connection is "no longer anecdotal.""We now see consistent patterns across diverse populations. And the consequences may have been tragic," he said."The lesson is that before approving a medication for the market, regulators should require manufacturers to commit to performing and disclosing ongoing post-approval analytical studies, and this requirement needs to be enforced," Brezis concluded in the review. In 2011, the FDA reportedly acknowledged depression as a potential side effect of finasteride, adding suicidality in 2022.The agency recorded 18 suicides linked to finasteride in 2011, although Brezis argued that the number should have "ranged in the thousands."In an additional statement sent to Fox News Digital, Brezis confirmed that physicians frequently prescribe finasteride "offhandedly because they are not aware of its risks.""Young people often get it from the internet without realizing it can cause anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts, in addition to sexual impairment," he said. "Unfortunately, these adverse effects may persist after discontinuing the medication.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER"My recommendation to patients and physicians: Stay away from this medication," he said. "My recommendation to the FDA: Take it off the market."Finasteride was reportedly invented by biopharmaceutical company Merck, which manufactures the drug under the brand names Proscar and Propecia. Other companies produce generic finasteride versions.Organon, formerly part of Merck, is the manufacturer of Propecia and Proscar, two finasteride products. The company provided the below statement to Fox News Digital."Organon stands behind the safety and efficacy of its finasteride products. Regulatory agencies around the world thoroughly reviewed the safety and efficacy data for these medicines before their approval, and they, together with Organon, have continued to review additional safety and efficacy data in the decades that these products have been on the market as part of the rigorous, routine post-marketing surveillance process."The company encourages patients to speak with their doctors if they have any questions or concerns about their health or medication. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/health.A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also weighed in on the findings in a statement to Fox News Digital."The FDA advises patients to discuss the potential risks and benefits with their healthcare providers before using any pharmaceutical product," the statement read. "This is particularly important as the FDA has not approved any topical finasteride products, which have been associated with numerous adverse effects reported to the agency."0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 9 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMike Johnson infuriated by Dems, says party 'playing politics' with Americans' lives as shutdown continuesHouse Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., accused Democrats Friday of 'playing politics' with Americans' lives amid the ongoing government shutdown."Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are playing politics with the lives of real American people. He's getting accolades right now from the far left," Johnson argued. "That was the whole objective. They had to appease the Marxist base of the Democrat Party, and so they pick this fight right now. It is absurd."After watching a clip of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., blaming Republicans for the shutdown, Johnson told "Fox & Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade that it was "infuriating" to hear the New York Democrat stating "the opposite of the truth."JOHNSON TURNS UP SHUTDOWN PRESSURE ON DEMOCRATS AS GOP UNEASE GROWS"It was three weeks ago today, Brian, that the House voted to pay the troops, pay federal workers and keep the government open. We passed a clean CR," he maintained. "Three weeks ago. The ball is in the Senate's court. That's where the duty must be done now."Lawmakers voted deep into the night on Thursday on the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, which advanced on a largely bipartisan vote. But the $925 billion package, which authorizes funding for the Pentagon, was effectively the last hurrah for the week in the upper chamber. While there was discussion of putting the House GOPs continuing resolution (CR), along with congressional Democrats counterproposal, on the floor for one last vote, the plan never came to fruition. Both would likely have failed for an eighth consecutive time.MIKE JOHNSON RALLIES HOUSE REPUBLICANS ON GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN MESSAGING WAR DURING PRIVATE CALLJohnson criticized Democrats for voting to "stop the payment of checks to troops, federal workers," adding that 2 million civilian employees and 1.3 million active-duty military service members will go without pay as a result. The House speaker was asked about the impact the ongoing government shutdown is having on everyday Americans, who, for example, may be facing flight cancellations due to TSA being funded by the government."Real harm to real people," Johnson replied. "We're hearing it from our constituents. The House Republicans right now are in their districts working, trying to help people through this crisis that's being created by the Democrats."I mean, it's health services, it is nutrition services for young mothers and infant children. It's, you know, all manner of services that are provided. FEMA, they can't write flood insurance policies in the middle of a hurricane season because of this nonsense. And we're so angry about it," he added.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREJohnson noted that while he may be a "patient guy," he has "had it with these people" and reiterated that Democrats are "playing games with real people's lives.""The theory we have right now, they have a Hate America rally that's scheduled for Oct. 18 on the National Mall. It's all the pro-Hamas wing and the Antifa people, they're all coming out. Some of the House Democrats are selling T-shirts for the event. And it's being told to us that they won't be able to reopen the government until after that rally because they can't face their rabid base," the House speaker claimed. The rally Johnson referred to is the "No Kings Day" protest, which will take place Oct. 18 in cities across the United States. The aim of the protest is to oppose President Donald Trump and his administration and to show the world that "America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people."Wrapping up his remarks, Johnson said there has "never been, in the history of Congress, a party willing to shut the government down over a clean CR." He added there was nothing he could remove from the bill to make it more "palatable for Democrats," stressing that Republicans did not fill the measure solely with their own priorities.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE"We just simply said, 'Give us seven more weeks to finish the government funding process, the appropriations process, and let's all work together.' And they chose this moment to put up a fight against President Trump because they have derangement syndrome, and it's very real, and to show that they're fighting Republicans," he railed. "For what?! For what?! They're hurting the American people, and I've just had it."Fox News Digital reached out to Schumer and Jeffries for comment.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 10 Views 0 previzualizare
