WWW.FOXNEWS.COMUNC professor revealed anarchist group requested security from far-left gun club during 2017 riotEXCLUSIVE: A professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill revealed during a panel at Harvard University that an Antifa-linked group requested his gun club to provide security during the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia."Prior to that day, as the planning for the defense of Charlottesville proceeded, the local Anarchist People of Color Collective, or APOC, had requested that Redneck Revolt be present to secure Justice Park for a wide variety of activists who were expected to assemble," Dwayne Dixon told Harvard faculty members and students who gathered in February 2018 to discuss the merits of potential violent political activism.UNC placed Dixon on leave on Monday, Sept. Sept. 29, after reports of his activism and run-ins with the law related to that activism surfaced. He was reinstated on Friday, Oct. 3, after pushback from supporters.UNC PROFESSOR REINSTATED AFTER THREAT ASSESSMENT OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE CONCERNS, TIES TO FAR-LEFT GUN CLUBHarvard's Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights abruptly deleted the video of the panel, which was first published on Feb. 3, 2018, from its official YouTube page early last week.Dixon was a member of Redneck Revolt, a left-wing gun club that placed a banner on its website amid the controversy midday last Wednesday saying the group disbanded in 2019.APOC is a loosely knit group of anarchists that traces back to the early 2000s. While the group does not appear to advertise publicly, The Anarchist Library sheds some light on its activities. For example, APOC has released "principles of unity" in the past, consisting of 10 bullet point statements."We call for a social revolution to erect a new society entirely," the first point says. The group also says it opposes "any forms of capitalism and class oppression and support the liberation of the poor and the workers" and "oppression of womyn, queers, transfolk, two spirits, youth, genderqueers, differently able-bodied people, people with mental health complexities, animals and all that are oppressed."STUDENT UPROAR ERUPTS AT ELITE COLLEGE AFTER PROFESSOR PUT ON LEAVE OVER TIES TO FAR-LEFT GUN CLUBA 2009 mission statement signed only "APOC Philly" calls for more coordination from the group."Revolution, if it is to succeed, requires a coordinated, comprehensive network of dedicated revolutionaries," the statement said. "Of course, APOC has existed for some time now. However, we have not thus far been able to create and maintain a form suitable to our needs."During the panel, Dixon also mentioned other groups to whom Redneck Revolt was "connected."Those groups included the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), a hard-left alternative to the American Federation of Labor, Muslims for Social Justice, a North Carolina-based group that advocates for left-wing causes and the anti-war group About Face, also known as Iraq Veterans Against War."And we have all these other linkages to radical left organizations," Dixon said. "I mean, Ready the Ground, The Raqqa Society, all of these people are in conversation and are shoulder to shoulder. Yeah, the time for prudent action, planning and working with comrades in different kinds of decision-making processes, developing new kinds of horizontal organizing."Ready the Ground is a North Carolina-based group that says it "strengthens movements for social justice in North Carolina by offering training in nonviolent people-power action and marshaling."HARVARD FACULTY EXPRESSED SUPPORT FOR POTENTIAL LEFT-WING POLITICAL VIOLENCE DURING 2018 PANELLeft-wing Antifa and similar anarchist groups claim to operate without serious organization, and instead portray themselves as individual antifascists who come together to protest. However, Antifa itself has chapters, most notably Rose City Antifa in Portland and Atlanta Antifascists. The Trump administration has vowed to crack down on Antifa groups, and recently declared Antifa a domestic terror organization via executive order."Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities and our system of law," the order says. "It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals.""Individuals associated with and acting on behalf of Antifa further coordinate with other organizations and entities for the purpose of spreading, fomenting and advancing political violence and suppressing lawful political speech," the executive order notes. "This organized effort designed to achieve policy objectives by coercion and intimidation is domestic terrorism."Dixon and UNC did not return requests for comment. Neither did IWW, Muslims for Social Justice or Ready the Ground.APOC and The Raqqa Society could not be reached for comment.Harvard declined to comment.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 37 Views 0 voorbeeld

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMChiefs' Chris Jones faces scrutiny for lack of effort on Jaguars' game-winning scoreWhile the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence made a tremendous effort to score the game-winning touchdown, Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones showed little effort in the Jaguars' 31-28 win.The Jaguars were down 28-24 with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter Monday night at EverBank Stadium, but the offense was on the one-yard line.Lawrence went to pass but was stepped on by his offensive lineman and fell. He scrambled to his feet, shed a tackle, and then dove into the end zone for a touchdown.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMJones, on the other hand, tried to rush the passer, but when he saw Lawrence go down, he shuffled towards him but then inexplicably stopped pursuing him. Weve got to finish. Multiple guys there that weve just got to finish that play. It was a fluke play for him to be able to break that many tackles. Yeah, I put it on us as a defense. It's been one guy here or there and in this league, it's so close that those change games. We got to do better. We've lost too many games already. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMConor McGregor receives 18-month UFC suspension for 3 missed drug tests in 2024The UFC announced that Conor McGregor has accepted a lengthy period of ineligibility for violating the companys anti-doping policy.McGregor accepted a suspension of 18 months after missing three attempted "biological sample collections within a 12-month period in 2024," which is a violation of the anti-doping policy."UFC athletes are required to provide accurate whereabouts information at all times, so they can be contacted and submit to biological sample collections without prior warning," the UFC said. "McGregors missed tests occurred on June 13, Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, 2024, and were each classified as Whereabouts Failures by the CSAD (Combat Sports Anti-Doping) under the UFC ADP."CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMMcGregor was initially set to be suspended for 24 months, though cooperation with the company led to a reduced suspension, according to the press release."Although McGregor failed to make himself available for testing on those dates, CSAD noted that he was recovering from an injury and was not preparing for an upcoming fight at the time of the three missed tests. McGregor fully cooperated with CSADs investigation, accepted responsibility, and provided detailed information that CSAD determined contributed to the missed tests.DANA WHITE PROMISES 'GREATEST FIGHT CARD EVER ASSEMBLED' FOR POTENTIAL WHITE HOUSE UFC EVENT IN 2026"Despite these mitigating factors, CSAD emphasizes that accurate whereabouts filings and the ability to conduct unannounced testing are essential to the success of the UFC ADP. Taking McGregors cooperation and circumstances into account, CSAD reduced the standard 24-month sanction for three whereabouts failures by six months."McGregors suspension is retroactive to the date of his final missed test, which means he is eligible to return to competition in March 2026 three months before the potential White House fight card that he has publicly said he wishes to fight in.President Donald Trump announced that the White House card will take place in June 2026 to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States on the storied landmark's famous lawn. While McGregor said it was a "done deal" that he would be returning to the octagon for that highly anticipated event, UFC CEO Dana White shot it down after UFC 320 this past Saturday."I made it clear Conor wants to fight on that card, and you can clearly see Conor is very fired up to fight on that card," White said, per Yahoo Sports. "But nothing is done yet, and no fights are being negotiated with the White House."White promised that the White House event would feature "the greatest fight card ever assembled."McGregor has not fought since July 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier in the third chapter of their rivalry. He was previously scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but he broke his pinky toe on June 13 of that year, which is the first failed test date in the UFC release.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 37 Views 0 voorbeeld

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMCuban-led caravan aims for Mexico City as Trump policies deter migrants from USA 1,200-person caravan of largely Cuban migrants is heading north from Mexicos southern city of Tapachula in a weeks-long pursuit of better economic opportunities. But the destination is not the U.S. border, its Mexico City. The destination of the caravan signals a stark shift in regional trends as President Donald Trumps strict immigration policies take hold. The caravan, which departed earlier this month, is expected to take weeks to reach its destination, where migrants hope to find higher-paying jobs in Mexicos capital city, rather than its impoverished south.OKLAHOMA TROOPERS, ICE DETAIN 120 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN THREE-DAY INTERSTATE ENFORCEMENT SWEEPTapachula, located in Mexico's poorest state of Chiapas, has been struggling for years to cope with the migrant crisis as it sits near the border with Guatemala, which has long seen significant outflowsof migrants fleeing gang violence and poverty stemming from the Northern Triangle.According to the Washington Office on Latin America, the group of migrants is using social media to petition the Mexican government to assist with asylum cases and proper documentation for people looking to officially reside in Mexico City.El Pais reported last week that corruption and extortion remain a top concern for migrants looking for relocation assistance. The report said the issue remains one of the chief obstacles plaguing the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance.Despite concerns over financial abuse in attempting to relocate in Mexico, the Spain-based outlet reported that many migrants still consider staying there preferable to heading to the U.S. under Trump.WHITE HOUSE REBUKES EGREGIOUS COURT ORDER BLOCKING TROOP DEPLOYMENTS AMID PORTLAND UNREST"Why would I want to go to the United States? They hate us there," one Cuban woman traveling with her 2-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son told the news outlet. While immigration to the U.S. under Trump, particularly amid his second term, has drastically dropped, the decision by Cuban migrants not to pursue life in the U.S. where there are already large communities with deep U.S. ties in places like Florida and New York, is significant. But it is too soon to tell if this will be a lasting trend, Elaine Dezenski, senior director and head of the Center on Economic and Financial Power (CEFP) at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told Fox News Digital."According to the International Organization for Migration, about 50% of migrants surveyed across Mexico in mid-2025 said they considered Mexico their destination up from less than 25% at the end of 2024," she said. "This suggests that increased U.S. border enforcement and deportations are influencing migrants choices, with more seeking asylum and work authorization in Mexico instead of continuing to the U.S."In the months since Trump returned to the top job, encounters on the southern border reported by Customs and Border Protection have drastically fallen compared to rates seen in years past.Earlier this year, the Migration Policy Institute noted that monthly southern border encounters were on par with rates not seen since the 1960s.Dezenski warned that even though the control of undocumented migration into the U.S. will be championed by some as a positive adjustment when it comes to border security, there are "serious conversations" that need to be had about the role immigration plays in maintaining a healthy economy. "Both Mexico and the U.S. are experiencing labor shortages in key sectors. While uncontrolled, undocumented immigration is not a solution, the lack of comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. risks leaving many jobs unfilled particularly in industries that rely heavily on migrant labor, such as agriculture," she said. "Today, immigration reform is often equated with border security."However, we also need a serious conversation about the essential skills and labor our economies require and the role immigration plays in sustaining long-term economic health," Dezenski said.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 37 Views 0 voorbeeld

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMChewing gum flu test could detect the virus through flavor before symptoms strikeAn experimental flu test could detect the virus right on the tip of your tongue.Researchers in Germany have potentially discovered a new way to spot influenza through an edible test, potentially like a piece of gum or a "thin film."When someone pops the test in their mouth, chemical sensors will either produce a taste or not signaling the presence of an infection.COVID-19 INFECTION RISK CUT 'SIGNIFICANTLY' WITH SIMPLE NASAL SPRAY, RESEARCH FINDSThe scientists created a tiny molecule that reacts only when the flu virus enzyme, called neuraminidase, is present. This is the enzyme that infects and spreads. The presence of the virus in the mouth or saliva will trigger this reaction, release thymol (a flavor compound) and produce a strong taste. If no virus is present, there will not be any flavor, the researchers described. This approach could help detect the flu before symptoms arise, allowing the patient to take necessary precautions and avoid spreading the virus.COULD DENTAL FLOSS BE THE NEXT VACCINE METHOD? SCIENTISTS SAY IT COULD WORK"There is an urgent need for readily manufacturable, easily supplied and straightforward first-line defense tools," the researchers wrote about the study. "These tools could quickly help identify individuals at risk of carrying influenza so they can be moved into quarantine."The researchers designed the test through computer models to only react to flu viruses instead of bacteria or other germs, according to the study, which was published in the journal ACS Central Science. The sensor was tested in the saliva of hospitalized, late-stage patients with the flu. In these samples, thymol was detected within 30 minutes. The experimental approach is still in early stages and requires clinical testing to ensure safety and accuracy, especially in an at-home setting.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER"Future clinical trials should confirm our evidence with patient-reported outcomes for taste sensations, differentiating performances in our sensor in pre- and post-symptomatic stages," the scientists commented."Future sensor designs could further reduce the amount of required sensors or the time it takes to perceive a taste sensation."In a brief statement sent to Fox News Digital, Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel expressed that he "loves this idea, if accuracy can be verified in repeated testing."As flu season approaches, the virus continues to be one of the most common and contagious diseases. The flu causes about 52,000 deaths in the U.S. every year, in addition to 41 million illnesses and 710,000 hospitalizations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/healthThe flu is currently diagnosed via nasal or throat swab tests, which just became available for over-the-counter use last year.0 Reacties 0 aandelen 35 Views 0 voorbeeld
