Who is the Trump-appointed judge blocking deployment of National Guard to Portland?
U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, who President Donald Trump nominated during his first term, is blocking the commander in chief from deploying National Guard troops in Oregon. The Senate confirmed her via voice vote in 2019.Immergut was involved in a probe pertaining to the salacious scandal that indelibly marked President Bill Clinton's White House tenure."I was hired by Ken Starr almost five months after Attorney General Reno sought to expand the OICs authority to investigate whether Monica Lewinsky or others suborned perjury, obstructed justice, or intimidated witnesses in connection with the civil sexual harassment case in Jones v. Clinton," Immergut wrote in response to a question from then-Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., in 2018."I was hired to work as a line prosecutor to determine whether there were facts to support or refute those allegations," she noted. She said that she questioned Lewinsky.WHITE HOUSE REBUKES EGREGIOUS COURT ORDER BLOCKING TROOP DEPLOYMENTS AMID PORTLAND UNREST"When Ms. Lewinsky agreed to cooperate with the Office of Independent Counsel, I was asked to be one of the team of prosecutors debriefing her. As I was involved in the debriefings, I was asked to participate in questioning Ms. Lewinsky before the grand jury and take her deposition," she noted in response to another question.Responding to questions from Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Immergut expressed the view that it is not appropriate for lower courts to buck Supreme Court precedent.Asked whether Roe v. Wade was "settled law," she replied, "Yes" the nation's high court overturned the controversial abortion ruling in 2022.Asked whether the Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry is "settled law," she again replied in the affirmative.Sen. Feinstein passed away in 2023.OBAMA-NOMINATED FEDERAL JUDGE MARRIED TO HOUSE DEM RECUSES HIMSELF FROM OREGON NATIONAL GUARD CASETrump issued a Truth Social post last month in which he declared that he was "directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists."A document featuring Hegseth's signature noted that "200 members of the Oregon National Guard will be called into Federal service effective immediately for a period of 60 days."But this month, Immergut temporarily blocked the move amid a legal challenge lodged by the State of Oregon and the City of Portland."The Presidents determination was simply untethered to the facts," the judge's opinion and order asserted, declaring that "this Court GRANTS Plaintiffs Motion for Temporary Restraining Order and temporarily enjoins Defendants September 28, 2025, Memorandum ordering the federalization and deployment of Oregon National Guard service members to Portland."Then she issued a second temporary restraining order that more broadly blocked the administration from deploying any federalized National Guard in the state."Defendants are temporarily enjoined from deploying federalized members of the National Guard in Oregon," the document declared.TRUMP'S WAR-RAVAGED PORTLAND' NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYMENT HALTED BY FEDERAL JUDGE OVER AUTHORITY CONCERNSWhite House deputy chief of staff for policy and Homeland Security advisor Stephen Miller declared in a post on X that "A district court judge has no conceivable authority, whatsoever, to restrict the President and Commander-in-Chief from dispatching members of the US military to defend federal lives and property."

Patrick Mahomes gets real on Chiefs' play following 3rd loss: 'We've lost too many games already'
The Kansas City Chiefs reign over the AFC has taken a serious hit through the first five weeks of the 2025 season.NFL fans have been accustomed to seeing the Chiefs magically pull out victories in the closing seconds of games or absolutely dominate their opponents. Kansas City gave fans a glimpse of that with victories over the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens this season, but their three losses have opened up the door for criticism from almost every angle.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe Chiefs were on track for a blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead. But the Jaguars scratched and clawed their way back into the game thanks to a Devin Lloyd 99-yard interception return for a touchdown and Trevor Lawrence stumbling into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.Patrick Mahomes tried to come to grips with the reality the Chiefs are facing early in the season."It kind of just talks about our whole entire season," he said of the mistakes and penalties that have contriubed to their struggles. "I feel like we have the guys and we've executed at certain points in the game and looked really good and then we kind of crush ourselves with penalties and mistakes and interceptions and fumbles or whatever that is.EX-COWBOYS RUNNING BACK WARNS FORMER TEAM AFTER INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE WITH PANTHERS: 'BUCKLE UP'"It's just we've kind of done that to ourselves all year long. Sean Duffy fires back after Gavin Newsom blames Trump for shutdown, travel delays
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy fired back at California Gov. Gavin Newsom after the Democrat blamed President Donald Trump for the government shutdown and its impact on air travel in an X post."This guy's unbelievable," Duffy said Tuesday on "Fox & Friends.""The bottom line is, every Republican has voted to keep the government open. It was Democrats that voted to shut down the government, and Gavin Newsom wants to blame Donald Trump, who had a clean CR," he added.WITH THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN THREATENING AIR TRAVEL, A GOP BILL SEEKS TO KEEP FLIGHTS RUNNINGDuffys comments came on the heels of Hollywood Burbank Airport being forced to operate for several hours without any air traffic controllers, causing delays an example, he said, of how the shutdown is putting extra strain on the nations airspace.Newsom seized on that incident in his post, writing, "Thanks, @realDonaldTrump! Burbank Airport has ZERO air traffic controllers from 4:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. today because of your government shutdown."Duffy argued that the outage highlights the real consequences of what Republicans are calling the "Schumer Shutdown," warning that unpaid air traffic controllers are beginning to call out of work as government gridlock stretches into its second week.TRUMP SAYS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN LAYOFFS ARE 'UP TO' DEMS AS STANDOFF CONTINUES"[This is] all because Chuck Schumer's trying to have this political fight. Instead of saying, let's do a clean CR, let's open the government up, let's have a conversation about what Democrats want to talk about, but do that over the course of the next several months. Don't shut it down and affect our airspace, our controllers."Concerns the shutdown wont end soon have raised questions about how air traffic controllers will cover mortgages, car payments or groceries.Duffy suggested such concerns could potentially push some to seek work beyond their current role."The pay cycle ended yesterday. Their paychecks come next week, and they see what's on the horizon They're like, 'Do I see a resolution of the shutdown? I don't see it. So guess what? I'm concerned about my own life, my own family,'" he said.Beyond existing controllers, he added that the shutdown could have a "rippling effect" as the nation works to hire more people for the role and fill a shortage of 2,000 people.

WATCH: Kaine defends Jones amid AG candidates texts envisioning murder of GOP leader: Still a supporter
Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine defended his fellow Democrat, former Del. Jay Jones of Norfolk, as the attorney general nominees campaign unravels after texts surfaced depicting Jones envisioning the murder of a top state Republican.Pressed ahead of a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday, Kaine said Jones comments were "indefensible" but that he is "still a supporter" of his candidacy against incumbent Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares."Jay has apologized," Kaine said."I've known Jay Jones for 25 years," he said. "I think those statements were not in character, and he has apologized I wish other people in public life would sincerely apologize for stuff."YOUNGKIN PRESSES DEMS TO PUSH JAY JONES OFF VIRGINIA AG TICKET AFTER 'BEYOND DISQUALIFYING' MESSAGES SURFACEAsked whether Jones controversy will affect other Democrats on the ballot, Kaine replied that the situation is a "significant challenge" for Jones but that he doesnt think it will affect other races."I think he's got to explain it in ways that Virginia can see who he really is," Kaine added.Former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., is at the top of the ticket against Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in the governors race, and Democratic state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi is facing conservative commentator John Reid for the lieutenant governorship.Fox News later followed up with Kaine, asking if he definitively does not believe Jones should drop out."Yeah, I've answered the question correctly, and I don't think I can improve on the first answer," Kaine said.VIRGINIA DEM LOGGED PAC HOURS TO SKIRT POSSIBLE JAIL TIME FOR RECKLESS DRIVING, DOCS SHOWJones had, apparently accidentally, texted Virginia Del. Carrie Coyner, R-Chester, a message about then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert, venting about Gilberts friendship with a recently deceased Democratic Party elder. The texts first came to light Friday to National Review, and were later confirmed to Fox News Digital through multiple Richmond, Virginia, sources.Jones had said the late state Sen. Joe Johnson, D-Bristol, "leaked" Democratic goings-on to Gilbert and the GOP caucus, before remarking: "If those guys die before me, I will go to their funerals to p--- on their graves. Send them out awash in something."VIRGINIA AG CANDIDATE ONCE REFERENCED PUTTING TWO BULLETS IN HEAD OF GOP LEADER, TEXTS SHOWJones then envisioned that Gilbert, R-Shenandoah, would be shot twice in the head if lined up with Cambodian Khmer Rouge dictator Pol Pot and former German Chancellor Adolf Hitler and the executioner only had two bullets."Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time," he added.CONSUMED WITH HATE: WINSOME SEARS, JASON MIYARES UNLOAD ON DEMOCRAT JAY JONES OVER VIOLENT TEXTSHe went on to suggest that Gilbert and his wife, Jennifer, were "breeding little fascists." The Gilberts have two young children.Since the texts were sent in 2022, Gilbert resigned from the House of Delegates to briefly accept President Donald Trumps nomination to be the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Virginia based in Roanoke. He has since left that post as well. The texts came one week after documents from New Kent County showed Jones had been charged with reckless driving on a notorious straight-arrow stretch of Interstate 64 between Virginia's Williamsburg and Richmond in the middle of the night.Jones escaped the typical one-year jail sentence by filing 1,000 community service hours split between his own political PAC and the NAACPs Virginia branch.A New Kent County, Virginia, official told Fox News Digital that it was not uncommon to have traffic-related crimes prosecuted with the defendant not receiving jail time during the COVID-19 era amid capacity and spacing concerns for more serious offenders.Jones is set to face Miyares at the University of Richmond on Oct. 16 for their only debate, at which the firestorm is sure to be a top issue.Fox News' Dan Scully contributed to this report.

Trump says Diddy asked for presidential pardon after receiving 50-month sentence: 'I call him Puff Daddy'
Sean "Diddy" Combs is looking for his get out of jail free card.President Donald Trump confirmed Monday the "I'll Be Missing You" rapper has requested a pardon."A lot of people have asked me for pardons," Trump said in the Oval Office. "I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon."Trump first spoke about a potential pardon for Diddy during his trial. "I havent seen him," Trump told Fox News Peter Doocy on May 30. "I havent spoken to him for years I dont know. I would certainly look at the facts. If I think someone was mistreated, it wouldnt matter whether they like me or dont."DIDDY MADE STUPID AND ARROGANT MISTAKE AHEAD OF SENTENCING, SAYS OJ SIMPSON LAWYERDiddy was sentenced to just over four years in federal prison Friday after his conviction on transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital that Diddy's "best chance at freedom" was a presidential pardon."This isnt the end of the legal road for Diddy, though,"Rahmani explained after the rapper's sentencing. "He can and will appeal, and he has arguments that the judge improperly calculated the guidelines and considered acquitted conduct."Rahmani added, "Expect a strong lobbying effort by Diddys team in the coming days and weeks. This story is far from over."WATCH: DIDDY SENTENCED TO 50 MONTHS IN PRISONLIKE WHAT YOURE READING? Blue city erupts as 91-time felon tries to dodge prison, weasel into rehab after crash
A career criminal is asking to swap prison time for a drug-treatment program, nearly 5 years after his New Years Eve rampage in downtown San Francisco allegedly killed two pedestrians reigniting fierce debate over Californias woke criminal justice practices. On Friday, 50-year-old Troy McAlisters attorney, Scott Grant, asked the court to grant mental-health and substance-abuse diversion under California Penal Code 1001.36, which could allow McAlister to enter treatment instead of facing decades in prison if Judge Michael Begert rules that he qualifies. In deep-blue San Francisco, residents rallied to protest what they say would undermine accountability."91 felonies, 2 deaths, No more chances," signs read outside San Franciscos Hall of Justice. "Judge Begert chooses politics over public safety. Justice NOW."The case of Troy McAlister, 50, has long been a lightning rod of restorative justice reform, forcing elected officials to confront whether policies meant to show compassion to offenders are now putting the public at risk.PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED BLUE STATE DRIVER CHARGED WITH MURDERING SIX PEOPLE IN CRASH: REPORTThe motion has sparked protests outside San Franciscos Hall of Justice, with community members and victims families calling the diversion request an "insult to justice." Some have even threatened to recall Judge Begert if diversion is granted."Troy McAlister has been charged with 91 felonies over the course of his multi-decades career here in San Francisco, and we don't think that someone should be given infinite chances to ultimately correct course," Scotty Jacobs, director ofBlueprint for a Better San Francisco, told KTVU-TV."While there's certain people who should be granted diversion and ultimately given the opportunity to rebuild their lives, Troy McAlister has demonstrated that despite being given that opportunity multiple times, he has continued to pose a threat to San Franciscans, and we believe he needs to be in jail."McAlister was on parole on Dec. 31, 2020 when he allegedly drove a stolen car while intoxicated, ran a red light, and killed Hanako Abe, 27, and Elizabeth Platt, 60.BLUE CITY FELON WITH VIOLENT HISTORY ARRESTED IN DEADLY TRAIN PLATFORM STABBING AFTER PAROLE RELEASE: REPORTMcAlisters long rap sheet has become a symbol of the larger question facing San Francisco whether repeat offenders should get one more chance at rehabilitation or finally face life in prison.Police said 27-year-old Abe and 60-year-old Platt were killed when McAlister blew through a red light at an intersection driving a stolen car in a "methamphetamine-fueled rampage" after allegedly stealing a cash register and a laptop from a sandwich shop nearby. Police said he got out of the car after the crash and ran into a nearby building, where he was arrested within minutes.McAlister is facing a slew of charges, including manslaughter in connection to the crash.Following the incident, the senseless deaths caused outrage after critics argued he should have been behind bars given his lengthy criminal record.McAlister previously served five years in county jail for robbing a market with an airsoft gun. His subsequent arrests while out of parole came for allegedly stealing cars near the Balboa BART Station, bashing down a door of a vacant apartment building claiming the owner gave him permission to use drugs there, and for jumping into a car and grabbing at the drivers pockets until the driver exited the vehicle. The district attorneys office never formally filed charges in connection to those offenses. The tragedy fueled the 2022 recall of Boudin, as critics accused him of being too lenient with repeat offenders. Following the hit-and-run incident of 2020, Boudin said that "hindsight is 20/20.""Ive said from the beginning that hindsight is 20/20," Boudin said after the incident in Dec. 2020. "Every single law enforcement agency that has had contact with Mr. McAlister wishes they had done something different that might have prevented this tragedy, and that certainly includes my office and my staff."Under current DA Brooke Jenkins, prosecutors are fighting the diversion motion. California Penal Code 1001.36, which was enacted in 2018, allows certain criminals with a diagnosed mental health or substance-use disorder to enter court-supervised treatment instead of facing trial. If the judge finds the disorder contributed to the crime and the defendant doesnt pose a serious public-safety risk, the case can be diverted for up to two years while the person completes treatment. Successful completion can lead to dismissed charges, while failure returns the case to court. The judge has not yet ruled on whether McAlister is eligible for court-supervised treatment. Fox News Digital has reached out to Boudin, the San Francisco County Superior Court and Grant for comment.McAlister's case is part of a troubling trend of repeat offenders being released back onto the streets.Courtney Boose, 41, is accused of stabbing a 69-year-old man at a Lawrence gas station, and its far from his first run-in with police. According to Fox 59, records show hes been arrested 99 times over the years for charges ranging from theft to battery, yet hes never served prison time. His latest arrest has sparked outrage among Indianapolis leaders who say his case exposes deep flaws in the criminal justice systems handling of repeat offenders.Fox News Digital's Bradford Betz and Danielle Wallace contributed to this report.
