WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWhite House warns of 'pain' inflicted on Americans if Democrats don't reopen governmentA lot of "pain" will be inflicted on the American public if Democrats fail to vote to reopen the federal government, the White House said Monday.White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked during her daily briefing about the consequences if President Donald Trump doesnt secure a deal to get government employees back to work this week."Unfortunately, there's going to be a lot of pain inflicted," she said. "There already ison the American public, on our troops who are not being paid, on women and young children who depend on critical food assistance."TRUMPS WEEK IN REVIEW: SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWNS AND ARMED CARTEL CONFLICT"We hate to see this," she added. "In fact, the Office of Management and Budget is trying to do everything it can to find funds to support these vulnerable populations in our country. Again, we shouldnt have to do that. The Democrats have a chance to change course tonight."Monday marked the sixth day of the government shutdown, as both parties traded blame. The Senate is expected to vote Monday night on dueling measures to fund the government."We urge Democratic senators to vote to reopen the government and do the right thing," Leavitt said.WHITE HOUSE SAYS FEDERAL LAYOFFS COULD HIT 'THOUSANDS' AHEAD OF TRUMP, VOUGHT MEETINGShe noted that if a deal isnt reached by Monday night, federal workers wont receive their next full paycheck. Additionally, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides food benefits to low-income families, will run out of funding.Trump has repeatedly blamed Democrats for the shutdown, calling their demands "unreasonable."On Sunday, he told reporters that looming layoffs are "up to them," referring to Democrats who voted against a bill to fund the government and avert the shutdown.0 Commenti 0 Azioni 44 Visualizzazioni 0 Recensioni

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMVulnerable House Dem dismisses primary challenger as race heats up: '30-year party crony'A moderate Democratic congressman who Republicans consider one of the most vulnerable House Democrats running for re-election next year is now facing a primary challenge from the left.Maine state auditor Matt Dunlap on Monday launched a 2026 bid for the U.S. House in Maine's 2nd Congressional District against four-term Democratic Rep. Jared Golden. The announcement by Dunlap complicates Golden's bid for re-election in a mostly rural district that President Donald Trump comfortably carried in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections. And it gives Republicans further hope they can flip one of their top-targeted districts in next year's midterms as they aim to not only defend but expand their fragile House majority.NEW TWIST IN THE MOST COMBUSTIBLE REPUBLICAN SENATE PRIMARY IN THE COUNTRYGolden is currently facing off with former two-term Republican Gov. Paul LePage, who right now has a clear glidepath to the GOP nomination in Maine, and the race between LePage and Golden is expected to be extremely competitive."There's bad and even worse. Jared Golden and Paul LePage," the narrator in Dunlap's campaign launch video argues. The narrator highlights that "Golden voted against unemployment benefits, child tax credits, and more affordable healthcare" and that "Golden even said he was OK with Donald Trump becoming president again.TRUMP'S SHADOW LOOMS LARGE IN 2025 ELECTION SHOWDOWNSDunlap, speaking to the camera, says: "I'm not OK with Donald Trump as president. That's why I'm running for Congress."And he touted that during his tenure as Maine Secretary of State, "I took Trump and his MAGA allies to court and I won."Golden, a U.S. Marine veteran who served combat tours in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and who was first elected to Congress in 2018, has a history of bucking House Democratic leadership. The most recent example: Golden broke ranks last month to vote with Republicans on a GOP-crafted funding bill to avert a government shutdown. The measure was later blocked by Senate Democrats, which triggered the current federal government shutdown.Golden defended his vote at the time and said that the shutdown "is the result of hardball politics driven by the demands far-left groups are making for Democratic Party leaders to put on a show of their opposition to President Trump."HEAD HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS REPORTING ON THE 2025 ELECTIONSAnd in a statement Monday following Dunlap's entry into the race, Golden said he represents a district that is "fiercely independentits one of the most ideologically diverse districts in the country, and deserves someone who represents it as it is.""If Matt Dunlap thinks this district will choose him over Paul LePage, hes got another thing coming," Golden argued in the statement. "A 30-year party crony like Matt Dunlap wont cut it."Many national Democrats believe that Golden is uniquely positioned to hold the seat in Maine's 2nd Congressional District, which is geographically the largest congressional district east of the Mississippi River. And a Democratic source familiar with the race confirmed to Fox News that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee "expressed to both Dunlap and state party leadership that unless Golden is the nominee, it could jeopardize the seat, national investment in Maine, and therefore the path to the majority."The rival National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) quickly weighed in on the development in the Democratic primary."Democrat Matt Dunlap's entrance into this race proves what we've been saying all along: Serial Flip-Flopper Jared Golden has betrayed Mainers at every turn, and his own party is done with his spineless, self-serving ways. Golden has got to go, and even Democrats know it," NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O'Toole claimed in a statement. And Maine GOP Chairman Jim Deyermond, in a statement, argued that "for years, ordinary Mainers have been left behind by Jared Golden as he flip-flops to try and hold his seat. Golden almost never makes a public appearance in Maine and often leaves people wondering where he is."Fox News' Deirdre Heavey contributed to this report0 Commenti 0 Azioni 45 Visualizzazioni 0 Recensioni

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMParkinsons risk could increase with exposure to common chemical, study suggestsA common chemical that is widespread in the U.S. has been linked to an increased risk of Parkinsons disease, researchers say.In a recent study published in the journal Neurology, researchers found a "small but measurable increase in Parkinsons risk" linked to trichloroethylene (TCE), which has been found to spread in the air, water and soil in the U.S.TCE is a chlorinated solvent commonly used for degreasing metal parts and in industrial cleaning, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.STUDY LINKS MENTAL HEALTH RISKS TO THIS TOXIN FOR THOSE BORN IN '60S OR '70SThe chemical is regulated under the Toxic Substances Control Act due to the potential risks of liver cancer, kidney cancer and non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It has also been linked to damage to the liver, kidneys, central nervous system, immune system and reproductive organs, as well as fetal heart defects, per the EPA.Previous research has found that TCE, when inhaled or ingested, can easily cross the blood-brain barrier and cause damage to neurons. In the most recent study, researchers from the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz., analyzed data for nearly 222,000 older adults recently diagnosed with Parkinsons, along with more than 1.1 million people who did not have the disease, according to a press release.ULTRAPROCESSED FOODS MAKE UP 60% OF AMERICA'S DIET, WHO'S AT BIGGEST RISKThe researchers also compared patients who lived close to facilities that emit TCE compared to those whose homes were farther away."We found a nationwide relationship between ambient TCE and Parkinsons disease risk and some compelling patterns of high risk in individuals who live near certain facilities that emit TCE compared to those whose homes are farther away," Dr. Brittany Krzyzanowski, Ph.D., assistant professor of neurology at Barrow, told Fox News Digital.Outdoor TCE concentrations were found to be highest in the Rust Belt region of the U.S. and several smaller areas throughout the nation, she said."I was not surprised to see an association between TCE exposure and Parkinsons disease risk because this link has been established in a number of studies," the researcher said."However, this is the first study linking ambient TCE in neighborhood-level air pollution to Parkinsons risk nationwide so its somewhat surprising to see that TCE in the outdoor air in our neighborhoods could impact the risk of disease."The study used observational data, Krzyzanowski said, and does not prove that exposure to the chemical causes Parkinsons."Our study was also limited to Medicare-aged individuals, so our results do not speak to the risk of early onset Parkinsons disease cases," she added.LIVING NEAR A GOLF COURSE IS LINKED TO PARKINSONS RISK IN NEW STUDY AS SOME CITE LIMITATIONSDr. Aaron Ellenbogen, neurologist and lead physician of the Parkinsons Disease & Movement Disorders Center at the Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders, confirmed the findings are "not new information.""The first case of Parkinson's that was associated with trichloroethylene exposure was published in 1969," Ellenbogen, who was not involved in the new study, told Fox News Digital.Trichloroethylene, he said, "is used in dry-cleaning, industrial solvents and a wide variety of applications in industry and even at home."TCE is one of many chemicals that has been associated with the development of Parkinson's disease, Ellenbogen said.DOCTORS SAY EATING SPECIFIC TYPE OF FOOD MAY OFFSET LUNG DAMAGE FROM AIR POLLUTION"It is not clear that the chemicals directly cause Parkinson's disease, but it may reflect a complex interplay between environmental exposure and a genetic predisposition of susceptibility that leads to the development of Parkinson's disease," he added.Dr. Guy Schwartz, co-director of the Parkinsons and Movement Disorders Center at Stony Brook Medicine on Long Island, New York, warned that TCE is "ubiquitous" in the U.S."It is present in common, everyday life materials, such as perfumes, cleaning wipes, glue and ink, and in the manufacturing of soap, paper and plastics," Schwartz, who was also not involved in the study, told Fox News Digital."It also appears that TCE is present in air and soil, and exposure to it in minute amounts over many years perhaps over decades may be necessary to set in motion the biochemical cascade that leads to premature death of neurons, as is the case in Parkinsons disease."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERSchwartz pointed out, however, that TCE is not the only risk factor to consider."We shouldnt discount the possibility that exposure to multiple neurotoxins results in the perfect storm leading to disease onset," he said. "Some chemicals are better established than others, and more widely accepted in the medical community, but almost certainly there are others that have not been studied rigorously and potentially are even more deleterious to our health."Schwartz noted that the study suggests Parkinsons disease may be linked not only to advanced age, but also to the cumulative effects of long-term exposure to neurotoxins which could help explain why the disease often develops later in life.Avoiding TCE exposure can be challenging, Ellenbogen noted."There is likely some benefit to using medical-grade air purifiers, filtering water and avoiding plastic water bottles, which may contribute to lowering risk," she said.Lead researcher Krzyzanowski encourages individuals to be aware of the previous studies linking TCE exposure to Parkinsons disease risk and to check to see whether the chemical has contaminated their own community."If so, there are ways to volunteer and get involved with community groups concerning environmental advocacy and remediation," she said. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/healthThe study was supported in part by the American Academy of Neurology and the Barrow Neurological Foundation.Fox News Digital reached out to several manufacturers of TCE for comment.0 Commenti 0 Azioni 39 Visualizzazioni 0 Recensioni

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDes Moines school district sues firm behind hiring of illegal alien superintendentIowas largest public school district is suing the firm that helped it hire an illegal immigrant Ian Roberts, who is now in Department of Justice custody for negligence and breach of contract. The district hired One-Fourth Consulting, which operates under its brand JG Consulting, was sued in the Iowa District Court for Polk County last week by the Des Moines Independent Community School District (DMICSD) for its role in hiring Roberts.Roberts was hired to be the superintendent of the district in May 2023 at a salary of $270,000.Last month, Roberts was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He was subsequently charged with possession of illegal weapons after a loaded handgun was found in his car following his arrest.SCHOOL CHIEF TO SUSPECT: ICE ARREST OF DES MOINES SUPERINTENDENT EXPOSES FAKE DEGREES, DRUG CONVICTIONSThe district is suing the executive search firm for breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, general negligence and is also seeking monetary damages.Fox News Digital reached out to JG Consulting for comment but did not hear back in time for publication."The District and JG Consulting entered into a valid, written Agreement for JG Consulting to provide executive search services in connection with the superintendent hire," the lawsuit states. "JG Consulting materially breached the Agreement by, among other things, failing to properly vet Roberts and by referring Roberts as a candidate when he could not lawfully hold the position."The district argued that JG Consulting was negligent in its duties, citing the fact it is in the business of "supplying accurate information regarding candidates," and presented Roberts as suitable for the position."That representation was false," the suit states in regard to Roberts. The district cited costs associated with the controversy, including those incurred from having to find a replacement and reputational damage.SOCIAL MEDIA ERUPTS AFTER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SCREAMS DURING VIRAL DC ARREST: WHAT I VOTED FORIn addition to JG Consulting's work with DMICSD, the executive search firm has also helped spearhead candidate search efforts for several other school districts around the country, including in Texas, Virginia and in other districts in Iowa, according to a Fox News Digital analysis of public records. One of those districts, the Eanes Westlake Innovative School District, which is currently using JG Consulting to find a new superintendent, put out a statement following news of the Roberts arrest to assure its community members that it was committed to "high standards" in its search for a new district head."While we are aware of allegations in Iowa, the Board believes JG Consulting is conducting a thorough and comprehensive search for the next Eanes ISD superintendent," district board president, Kim McMath, said. "As we move forward, the Board will require JG Consulting to provide extensive background information on all candidates who advance for consideration. We are steadfast in our commitment to ensuring this process meets the highest standards. Through the combination of Eanes ISDs rigorous internal hiring practices and JG Consultings enhanced evaluation protocols, we are confident the district will be presented with well-qualified, carefully vetted candidates."Roberts is currently facing federal charges and is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service in Polk County jail, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement from last week. In the statement, DHS said that Roberts "rap sheet and immigration history reveal a long record of criminal conduct in the United States," which the agency said proves "he should never have been serving in a role overseeing children in Iowas largest school district."According to DHS, Roberts was previously convicted of reckless driving, unsafe operation and speeding in Maryland in 2012. The statement also said he was convicted in Pennsylvania of unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in 2022.Besides these, he also has charges of criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell, criminal possession of narcotics, criminal possession of a forgery instrument and possession of a forged instrument in New York dating back to 1996 and charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree weapon charges in 2020.Additionally, according to the Polk County Sheriffs Office, itscivil divisionservedRoberts a sealed restraining order from Jackson County, Missouri, in August 2023. It is unclear what prompted the restraining order since the order was sealed. He was also discovered to be illegally registered to vote as a Democrat in Maryland, raising serious questions about the states voter registration system.Fox News Digital's Peter Pinedo contributed to this report.0 Commenti 0 Azioni 45 Visualizzazioni 0 Recensioni
