Charlie Kirk could be placed on US currency under new House GOP proposal
FIRST ON FOX: A pair of House Republicans are pushing to have Charlie Kirk memorialized on U.S. currency in the wake of his assassination earlier this month.Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger, R-Texas, and Rep. Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., plan to introduce a bill later this week directing the U.S. Treasury to mint 400,000 silver dollar coins with Kirk's likeness, the pair first told Fox News Digital. It's the latest proposal in a litany of bills and resolutions introduced by Republican lawmakers to honor the conservative activist after he was shot and killed during a college campus speaking event in Utah earlier this month. The coins, which would be considered legal tender, would have Kirk's image on one side and feature the words "well done, good and faithful servant" on the other.58 HOUSE DEMS VOTE AGAINST RESOLUTION HONORING 'LIFE AND LEGACY' OF CHARLIE KIRKThey would also be inscribed with Kirk's full name, "Charles James Kirk," the year 2026 as well as the U.S.'s full name and motto. The coins' final design would be selected by the Treasury Secretary in consultation with the sitting president, in this case, President Donald Trump."Since 1892, Congress has authorized commemorative coins to celebrate and honor historic American patriots," Hamadeh told Fox News Digital. He also hailed Kirk as an "American treasure.""He tirelessly sacrificed his time, energy, and money to save this nation for future generations. Ultimately, at the hands of a radical leftist, he sacrificed his life," Hamadeh said. "His life must be commemorated, and this coin will allow us to pass a reminder of his remarkable life on to generations to come."Pfluger said that passage of their legislation would make Kirk, at age 31, the youngest-ever American to be placed on U.S. currency at the time of the coins' minting, which the Texas Republican called "a fitting honor that cements his extraordinary legacy alongside presidents and founding fathers who shaped our republic.""Charlie Kirk was a conservative titan whose transformational impact on millions of Americans deserves permanent recognition alongside our nation's greatest leaders and influential figures," Pfluger said.HOUSE PASSES TRUMP-BACKED PLAN TO AVERT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNA law passed by Congress in 1866 bars the image of a living person from being used on U.S. currency.Several historical figures have been awarded the honor, even beyond American presidents.Benjamin Franklin notably is the face on the $100 bill, Alexander Hamilton is shown on the $10 note and different versions of the $1 coin feature Sacagawea, former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall and Susan B. Anthony, respectively, among others. Some historical records have said Sacagawea was 25 at the time of her death, but conflicting accounts reported her passing decades later. The proposal comes after the House passed a bipartisan resolution honoring Kirk and denouncing political violence late last week.In addition to Pfluger and Hamadeh's bill, GOP lawmakers have offered legislation to award Kirk congressional medals, honor him with a day of remembrance, among other initiatives.Several House Republicans also wrote to Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., to ask for a statue at the U.S. Capitol in Kirk's likeness after his assassination.

Waltz warns Putin Trump is not messing around with call to shoot down Russian aircraft in NATO airspace
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz issued a warning to Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, declaring that Trumps push for NATO allies to shoot down intruding Russian aircraft was no empty threat."Putin, the Russians, should take the message from the president [seriously]. He's not messing around," Waltz warned on "Fox & Friends.""The Iranians learned painfully that he will use sticks as well as carrots We just brought that message [to] the Russian president just yesterday."RUSSIA SHIFTS FROM TALK TO ACTION, TARGETING NATO HOMELAND AMID FEARS OF GLOBAL WARThe former Florida Republican congressman joined Brian Kilmeade the morning after Trump made the suggestion during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The two leaders were in New York City for a U.N. General Assembly session on Tuesday."Do you think that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace?" a reporter asked the president."Yes, I do," he replied.WALTZ TO ROOT OUT ANTISEMITISM, ELIMINATE 'WOKE' PROGRAMS, GET 'BACK TO BASICS' AT THE UNITED NATIONSWaltz called Trump's statement "common sense," pointing to repeated Russian airspace violations reported by Romania, Estonia and Poland.Trump has pushed for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war since returning to office in January, meeting with the leaders of both nations and urging them to negotiate a peace agreement. When asked if Trump is considering lifting restrictions on U.S. weapons sent to Ukraine, Waltz deferred to the president, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio."The broader piece here is that the president is going to do whatever it takes, and he's going to shift positions if he needs to, to get this war to end," he added.Trump also signaled in a Truth Social post this week that he believes Ukraine, with European and NATO backing, could regain all its territory, an outlook that surprised and offered hope to Zelenskyy."I was very positive about signals from the side that Trump and America will be with us to the end of the war," Zelenskyy told Fox News' Bret Baier.Fox News' Anders Hagstrom contributed to this report.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders torches Kamala Harris revisionist history after 2024 election defeat
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of rewriting the story of her failed 2024 presidential run."The revisionist history that Kamala has is pretty laughable. It wasn't that she didn't have enough time. It's that she doesn't have any good ideas," Sanders said Wednesday on "Fox & Friends.""America had already seen what an administration under her leadership would look like: failed, disastrous, open borders, tons of crime, high inflation. And people didn't want that anymore. They rejected her and her ideas."KAMALA HARRIS BREAKS SILENCE ON BIDEN DROPOUT, ADMITS SHE HAS REGRETS ABOUT HER HANDLING OF SITUATIONSanders comments come after Harris reflected on why she lost the election during her Tuesday appearance on ABCs "The View.""Probably one of the biggest in my mind is we just didn't have enough time," Harris told the hosts in reference to her campaign, which lasted only 107 days.KAMALA HARRIS REJECTS IDEA THAT BUNGLED 'VIEW' INTERVIEW WAS TIPPING POINT IN CAMPAIGNShe was also pressed on her 2024 appearance on "The View," when she was asked whether she would have handled anything differently during the Biden administration. At the time, she said, "not a thing comes to mind," a response widely viewed as damaging to her campaign."I'm a loyal person. And I didn't fully appreciate how much people wanted to know there was a difference between me and President Biden. I thought it was obvious. And I didn't want to offer a difference in a way that would be received or suggested to be a criticism," Harris said this week.CNN PANEL SHREDS HARRIS' COLBERT INTERVIEW FOR HER LACK OF SOLUTIONS AFTER 'SIX MONTHS TO FIGURE IT OUT'But Sanders pushed back, saying Harris wasnt rejected because of Biden, but because she "had nothing to offer."She pointed to President Donald Trumps recent meetings with world leaders, such as his speech at the United Nations General Assembly earlier this week, as proof of his effectiveness."Can you imagine if Kamala Harris was dealing with and in the position that Donald Trump was in? He's cleaning up all of their messes, not making them worse."Sanders said Harris appearance on "The View," promoting her new book, serves as a reminder of why Americans voted the way they did."When she does interviews like that, it only reminds us even more why we're glad Donald Trump is back in the White House."

Ex-US attorney warns prosecutors could face many hurdles in case against Charlie Kirk's alleged killer
A former U.S. attorney turned first-term congressman is warning prosecutors could face several hurdles in the case against Charlie Kirks accused killer, cautioning the trial will be anything but straightforward.Rep. Brad Knott, R-N.C., is a freshman House lawmaker who resigned from the office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina in late 2023 to run for Congress.Looking at the case of Tyler Robinson from an outside perspective, Knott said he believed law enforcement officials were "proceeding appropriately" but noted from his past experience that high-profile cases such as this were "never as cut and dry" as they appeared to some members of the public."In some ways, I pity the prosecution because there's so many unique angles here," Knott told Fox News Digital. "The hardest part about these types of cases is to begin the process with no conclusion. And that's especially hard when you look at the Tyler Robinson case."58 HOUSE DEMS VOTE AGAINST RESOLUTION HONORING 'LIFE AND LEGACY' OF CHARLIE KIRKHe anticipated there would be "many in the media" and "some, even in law enforcement" who may come to a conclusion too soon that the case is already solved."And proceeding when this case is as public as it is, when it is as widely viewed and reviewed as it is, keeping all of that noise outside of your purview as an investigator, as a prosecutor, as a forensic analyst, as a custodian of the evidence going forward as though the conclusion is not in hand, thats the hardest part here," he said.Knott pointed out that it cannot even be assumed that Robinson committed the killing until its decided in a court of law stressing there were many moving parts."We know that there was conversations with other individuals leading up to this criminal act, the killing. We know that there were lots of individuals who were surrounding the suspect," he said. "We know that there are a lot of people who have an interest in solving this case that are not in law enforcement. I mean, go on X, go on social media. All of that can make it harder to get an objective sample of evidence, right?"Robinson is facing multiple state charges in Utah, including aggravated murder. Officials there have said they plan to seek the death penalty. The 22-year-old is accused of killing Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder and conservative activist, while he spoke at a college campus event in Utah earlier this month. Kirk was shot in the neck and was soon declared dead.In addition to the public pressure on prosecutors, Knott noted there would be "intense scrutiny" on people surrounding Robinson."Whenever that type of scrutiny is levied on somebody, whether it's his former classmates, his colleague, his friends, his social circles, his family what you want is just sort of a firsthand account with no inferences whatsoever," Knott said.HOUSE PASSES TRUMP-BACKED PLAN TO AVERT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN"You don't want them to conclude anything. You want them to describe, you want them to recount. And when you have all of this publicity and the sensational posture of this case, it makes it very hard to objectively be a witness."And if Robinson does not plead guilty, Knott predicted a full-throated attempt at defense from his lawyers."If Mr. Robinson is in fact guilty of the charges that are brought against him, there is going to be an extreme defense if he does not plead. And whenever there's an extremely vigorous defense, its never straightforward," he said."A win for the defense may be defeating one of the aggravated murder charges, or it might be to defeat the death penalty whatever it may be. There is never a straight path when a defense comes forward like Mr. Robinson would probably have. And that's assuming he doesn't cooperatehe just walls up and says, Youve got to prove this and we're going to fight you every step of the way."Knott said he would anticipate a host of challenges from the defense team, as well as a bid to evoke some kind of sympathy for their client."What I anticipate is, every search warrant is going to be challenged. Every type of digital evidence is going to be challenged. The admissibility of the most damning evidence will be challenged. The seating of the jury will be challenged. Everything will be resisted," he said. "And so I dont anticipate that there will be a very easy path forward."

Camp Mystic makes controversial decision about future of Texas camp where 27 died in flooding
Camp Mystic, a long-running private Christian girls summer camp where 27 girls and counselors died in Texas flooding on the Fourth of July, will reopen next year, according to the camp's operators. The reopening will take place in conjunction with the camps 100th anniversary and one year after the deadly flash floods that swept through the facility along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County this summer. The summer camp made the announcement on Monday in an email to families enrolled in the 2025 camp. Some families have criticized the camp over its safety measures and preparedness in the wake of the tragedy.RIVER OF ANGELS MEMORIAL RISES IN KERRVILLE AS FLOOD VICTIMS REMEMBEREDLeaders said they will reopen Camp Mystic Cypress Lake, a sister site opened in 2020 that was not destroyed by the flood. The original campus, which is located along the Guadalupe River and suffered "devastating damage," will remain closed and is not expected to reopen next year, officials added."As we work to finalize plans, we will do so in a way that is mindful of those we have lost," the letter said, according to The Associated Press. The owners said they will be designing and building a memorial "dedicated to the lives of the campers and counselors lost on July 4th," according toABC News."We hope this space will serve as a place of reflection and remembrance of these beautiful girls," the camp's statement read. "We continue to pray for the grieving families and all those who lost loved ones."The letter also said leaders are working with engineers and other experts to determine how the camp will implement safety changes required under newly passed state bills.Fox News Digital has reached out to Camp Mystic for comment.FAITH BRINGS LIGHT TO DEVASTATED TEXAS TOWN AFTER DEADLY FLOODING DISASTERThe news has drawn a mixed reaction: some family members of the deceased strongly oppose the planned reopening, while alumni and the Eastland family, who own the property, have expressed support.Cici Steward, whose 8-year-old daughter, Cile, remains missing, said, "The truth is, Camp Mystic failed our daughters.""For my family, these months have felt like an eternity. For the camp, it seems like nothing more than a brief pause before business as usual," she saidin a statementTuesday to The New York Times. "Camp Mystic is pressing ahead with reopening, even if it means inviting girls to swim in the same river that may potentially still hold my daughters body."Other parents said they had received almost no other communication from the camp in the months after the flood, then were suddenly notified by email that Mystic planned to reopen.Blake Bonner, whose 9-year-old daughter, Lila, died in the flooding, told the Times that the families were not consulted about, and did not approve, the memorial the camp announced.Thecampers and counselors were killedwhen the fast-rising floodwaters roared through a low-lying area of the summer camp before dawn on July 4, 2025.The destructive flooding killed at least 136 people in the region, prompting widespread criticism of local preparedness.County leaders wereasleep or out of town, the AP reported. The head of Camp Mystic had been tracking the weather beforehand, but its unclear whether he sawan urgent warningfrom the National Weather Service that had triggered an emergency alert to phones in the area, a spokesperson for the camps operators said in the immediate aftermath. The camp, established in 1926, did not evacuate and was hit hard when the river rose from 14 feet to 29.5 feet within 60 minutes. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Iran president accuses US of 'grave betrayal' with nuclear strikes in UNGA speech
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday accused the United States and Israel of committing a "grave betrayal of diplomacy" by carrying out airstrikes on Iranian cities, telling world leaders at the United Nations that the attacks violated international law and undermined peace efforts.Speaking in his first address to the U.N. General Assembly, Pezeshkian said the U.S.s June strikes on Irans nuclear facilities came as Iran was engaged in diplomatic negotiations, and he warned that such actions threatened to erode the foundations of global stability."The aerial assault constituted a grave betrayal of diplomacy and a subversion of efforts toward the establishment of stability and peace," the president said."This brazen aggression, in addition to murdering citizens, women, scientists and intellectual elites of my country, inflicted a grievous blow upon the prospect of peace in the region."IRAN DOUBLES DOWN ON REFUSAL TO END NUCLEAR PROGRAM, READY FOR WAR WITH ISRAELIn June, seven U.S. B-2 bombers dropped 30,000-pound "bunker buster" bombs on Irans nuclear sites. The U.S. declared the mission a success, and former President Donald Trump said Irans nuclear program was "totally obliterated."The president, however, claimed Iran never had intentions to develop a nuclear weapon and only enriched uranium for civil nuclear purposes."We do not seek the weapons. This is our belief based on the edict issued by the Supreme Leader and by religious authorities," Pezeshkian said."We never sought weapons of mass destruction, nor will we ever seek them."He accused Washington and its allies of a double standard, pointing to U.S. support for Israel in Gaza and other regional conflicts, while casting Iran as the victim of aggression that has killed civilians, scientists, and journalists.TRUMP'S IRAN ULTIMATUM STARTED A 60-DAY CLOCK TICKING FOR DECISIVE JUNE STRIKES, BOMBER COMMANDER REVEALSPezeshkian tied the strikes against Iran to what he described as a broader pattern of Western-backed aggression across the Middle East, citing Israels offensive in Gaza as "genocide" and denouncing the "Greater Israel" project as a delusional scheme destabilizing the entire region. He accused the U.S. of enabling Israels actions in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and urged Muslim states to unite in collective defense."The world in these two years has witnessed a genocide in Gaza, the destruction of homes in Lebanon, the devastation of Syrias infrastructure, the assault against the people of Yemen, and the assassination of Irans scientists," Pezeshkian said."All of this under the full support of the most heavily armed regime on the face of the earth, under the pretext of self-defense. Would you countenance such things for yourselves?"The Iranian leader portrayed his country as resilient in the face of pressure, insisting that military and economic coercion has backfired."The patriotic and valiant people of Iran laid bare before the aggressors the fallacy and self-destruction of their arrogant calculations," he said. "The enemies of Iran unwittingly fortified the sacred national unity. The people of Iran, despite the most severe, protracted and crushing economic sanctions rise in unison in support of their valiant armed forces."Pezeshkians remarks also underscored the depth of Irans hostility toward Israel. He declared that those responsible for targeting children in Gaza "are not worthy of the name human being" and said such crimes prove Israel "shall never prove to be trustworthy partners."

CA prosecutor slams mask law after doxxing arrest as ICE raid architect warns copycats
Federal officials are making an example of a Santa Monica man arrested this week for allegedly doxxing and harassing an ICE attorney, with the architect of Los Angeles and Chicagos raids warning any copycats.Gregory Curcio faces up to five years in prison if convicted, after the Justice Department said he allegedly published private or identifying information about an ICE attorney "with malicious intent."ICE Operation "At Large" Commander Gregory Bovino tweeted overnight that anyone who targets immigration officers like Curcio should take notice."Dox our agents? You'll end up being charged just like this man found out," said Bovino, whose noted social media presence and prominent public persona have been both a cause clbre for supporters of President Donald Trumps mass deportation agenda, and a source of outrage for liberal opponents.Bill Essayli, the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Central California, took the message one step further.Essayli said Curcios arrest proves why ICE agents must be allowed to shield their identity, which now conflicts with a recently-passed California law banning law enforcement from doing so.Essayli, a Republican and the first Muslim elected to the California State Assembly, lambasted critics of federal agents who mask-up during public operations."Why do our agents wear masks? Gregory John Curcio, 68, of Santa Monica was arrested and charged today with doxxing an ICE attorney," Essayli said in a statement on social media.ARCHITECT OF LA ICE RAIDS REPORTEDLY ARRIVES IN CHICAGO AS FOCUS SHIFTS TO WINDY CITY, AGENT'S HISTORY"We will not tolerate the harassment -- online or otherwise -- of federal law enforcement," he added."We will find and arrest those who release personal information of federal agents or their families. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court."The Justice Department said Curcio was arrested Monday and appeared Tuesday before a federal judge in Los Angeles who ordered him jailed without bond ahead of an October arraignment."Contrary to what some misguided individuals think, doxxing federal agents and employees is not a harmless crime," Essayli added in a Justice Department statement."It endangers the agents personal safety and that of their family."Prosecutors say Curcio posted an ICE attorneys home address in February and urged others to "SWAT" her a term for making false 911 calls to provoke an armed law enforcement response.FEDERAL AUTHORITIES ARREST OHIO MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY THREATENING TO MURDER ICE AGENTSThe attorney claimed to police she had never met the suspect but that he once lived in an apartment building owned by her mother, and that he would harass the parent as far back as January 2024.ICE's Office of Responsibility is also investigating the case.On Saturday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the first-in-the-nation law prohibiting most law enforcement from obscuring their faces during official business. It was seen as a direct response to raids in Los Angeles engineered by Bovino, which resulted in mass protests from the left and widespread praise from the right and at the White House, where President Donald Trump federalized the California National Guard and deployed assets to Americas second-largest city.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPNewsom said Saturday that the diversity that "makes California great" is "under assault," while adding the impact of the Trump administrations policies across the Golden State is "terrifying.""Its like a dystopian sci-fi movie. Unmarked cars, people in masks, people quite literally disappearing. No due process, no rights, no rights in a democracy where we have rights. Immigrants have rights, and we have the right to stand up and push back," Newsom said.
